Limited functionality for a company with so much $Have only been playing with this app for a few minutes and am already disappointed. I’m using an iPhone. 1. Color-in function for using your own photo looks messy and silly. Could do better in Microsoft Paint. 2. Only able to select saved photos from Camera Roll. No option to choose from a different photo folder (like Favorites). 3. Only able to import photos from primary Pinterest Boards, not the sub-boards. I have a Home board in Pinterest, and within that board I have sub-boards for each room. I can’t access those with the app. 4. Very limited color selection. There are whole categories of color that aren’t represented in the app. I did better picking up swatches from my local hardware store. This app doesn’t do anything I wanted it for. Trash..Version: 2.13

Removed the paint your own room feature.Downloaded this app again to see what MY living room would like like with a certain color and discovered I can’t. Idk why they would take that feature off, but I feel like they’re gonna lose a lot of people because of it. Two stars bc it is still nice that you get to see the color in a fake bathroom, kitchen, outside, living room, and bedroom. But it’s better when you can view the paint with your own furniture and decor. Bring that feature back or at least say it doesn’t have that feature anymore on the App Store. 👍🏼.Version: 2.1

Great Idea, Some KinksI selected a few photos from my photo album, applied colors matched from my Pinterest Board, and was delighted with the results. I then tried to add another few photos from my album but I found no way to add photos except to take new ones. I deleted and reinstalled just to fix this oversight. Also, there should be a re-do button in addition to the un-do. Additionally, it would be nice if I could match a color, then view similar colors in a color wheel or grid, so I can try a shade lighter, darker, warmer, cooler, etc. But overall, a good app for free.Version: 2.13

Flaky AppSo far, I find the best way to use this app is to import your photo into Photoshop, then use the select tool for an area that you want to match, then use the filter, blur average in order to get the average color across the area. then send the photo to your phone in order to use the app. From this app, you can access the photo and then sample the average area that you created. (and yes, it would make more sense if you could just do that in the app and also if the app did not freeze and lose photos).Version: 2.13

What happened to make it worse?I used an older version of this app years ago (2017) to help me plan out a multiple color paint job in a room. I have a friend who just bought a house and is repainting. I had a good experience back then, so I recommended it to her and showed my own excellent before/after pictures using the app. However, trying out this new version is giving a much worse experience. I’m only able to do one color at a time. It leaves horrible white edging, and the colors bleed from the wall into the ceiling and floor if I turn up the fill. I’m sorry I ever recommended it to her first without double checking it first..Version: 2.13

App needs work! The colors are beautiful but the app crashes every single time I try to preview a color in our room. I’ve tried deleting and re-installing to no avail. One of the main purposes of using this app was for me to get an idea of how a color might look before buying. I’ve also tested it to try to match colors, already knowing what the shade is called from our previous purchase and the app is waaayy off. It’s a good app for looking at colors but not for matching current colors or for previewing..Version: 2.13

See it in your space feature is a jokeI downloaded this app because I recently bought a home and we are painting the whole house. I really like accent walls and different colors so I thought this app would help me visualize the colors we want to use. Well this feature doesn’t work at all. The colors look horrible on the walls, like someone took Microsoft Paint and painted color on a photo. Also there’s no way to just choose one wall. You pick an area with your finger and then use the slider for the coverage amount… it’s just so clunky and not intuitive at all. I would think that Home Depot would have the resources to make a better app. Hopefully they fix it soon because it would be really cool idea to be able to visualize your paint before committing to it..Version: 2.13

Update ruined a decent appI liked the previous version better. It had its flaws but worked better than this one. - Before I could drag my finger across the screen to paint where I wanted. - Now I have to tap on a section to have it automatically fill in that area. This doesn’t work when you have an area that is multi-colored (such as a wooden deck). In that situation it fills in a very small section and I would have to tap all over the screen painting one tiny section after another. No thanks. - Before I could search for colors while in “my space” - Now I can only select between popular and my favorites. If I want to search I have to leave “my space”, search for a color and then go through the process of selecting a photo again. - Before there were multiple brands and types of paint. - Now there is only BEHR and Gidden and there is no selection for stains. Home Depot is a longer drive for me than Lowe’s (30 min vs 5 min). I guess I’ll just have to go to Lowe’s and get samples so I can see what color works best. Too bad since I like HD better..Version: 2.4

Removed option to view colors in My Rooms???Why is this feature removed? That was the entire point of the app. The feature was a great help in selecting a kitchen color - I came here looking for options for family room and living room. I can upload a picture of my room, but the option is only to match a color. I don’t want to match a color, I want a color that will compliment the room. I’m not one to buy multiple samples and see what works. I’d rather put that $12 a pint toward the actual gallons of paint I will need. For all this app does with color selection, I can just go to the store and pick out the color cards like I’ve done for the last 40 years. This is not progress. Very disappointed..Version: 2.1

False advertisingI was just on the Home Depot website where it was talking about the project color app. It showed a video on the website and talked about how you could use your iPhone to choose different colors and overlay them onto the room, experimenting with how different colors would look in the room. This was the only reason I got this app and now I find out it does not even have this feature!!!! It is frustrating to be given a vision of something that sounds very useful and then not to be given that product at all but something inferior. Please bring back that feature or change your website to not give false advertising..Version: 2.1.1

Could Use More TweaksNo go for me: Viewing option limited to one on iPad–whaaaat?! No landscape mode, and in portrait the app only orients one way (no 180 degree flip option). Annoying: 1) What slide am I on?! No indicator. In the slide show of various rooms beneath where one would view the large image of the space with color, the currently viewed slide is not highlighted/marked. 2) No INFO icon appearing when a pop-up message says “Touch info for help”. Confusing. A plus: The app looks beautiful..Version: 2.7.1

Not all that usefulAccuracy is dependent upon the camera, and the type (temperature) and intensity of the light. Since this app does a poor job dealing with these variables, it’s as likely to be wrong as it is to get it right. Addendum: Three attempts to identify a color, using the same phone in the same light, same angle, moments apart yielded 2 very different colors and one slightly different shade. One attempt using around 6 color chips that I brought back from the store yielded far better accuracy. If you still want to use this app keep in mind that you can rarely return custom mixed paints if the stores app was at fault..Version: 2.3

Colors OutdatedThe app is easy to use, fun, color matching seems to be spot on so after spending a few days to narrow down THE perfect color it’s finally time to pick up some chips and look at them in your room before putting some real paint on the walls.....only to find that nothing you’ve picked is on any of the color chips. Computer to help locate chips is not set up to help you find the closest or at least a color within the family you’ve decided on. The guy at the counter is nice and he’ll make you up a sample of the old color, but seriously, he said the color I’d picked out hasn’t been on the chip board for at least five years. UPDATE your app Home Depot!!! If you want your tools to be useful that’s a no brainer. And also the app often freezes up when it’s time to try “Painting” your wall. Have to shut it down and start it again. Painful..Version: 2.7

BuggyThis is a great concept and I like using this one because I can get the correct colors at Home Depot. The problem is the photo must be taken vertically. This seems like an easy fix considering how far we’ve come with technology. Also the app freezes after a few minutes every single time I use it which forces me to start over. I’d like to see the option to use more than one color at a time as well..Version: 2.9.1

Shotty at bestThe fact these benefits of the app do not function 100% of the time is a problem. The screen freezes on iOS without any apps running in background. No updates or anything available. I pick a color and roll the dice if I can color match or try the paint color on the photo of a room. And don’t get me started on data sharing. It should be something you the company or app developer ask for, not just get by default. Total garbage. This app has a lot of cool benefits but definitely does not deliver. I’ve tried it multiple times. Uninstalling, and giving shot at shot it’s proven to be a waste of time..Version: 2.13

Pretty good app, but could use improvementsThis app is great if you want to match a color to a picture that you have pinned on Pinterest, or that you have saved on your camera roll. However, for the project that I had planned, the app fell short. We were remodeling the kitchen and wanted to see what color cabinets we should go with to match the pre-existing paint we had on the walls in the kitchen. But this app only lets you see one color at a time, not to mention, only the wall color can be changed, not the cabinet color. Besides these shortcomings, the app is great but being able to see more than one color side by side and change the cabinet colors would be a major improvement to the app..Version: 2.12

Colors doesn’t match 👎I kinda loved this app. It was so easy to pick color and apply on various room setup. Loved the variety of rooms are used with well lit to dark. When I actually started the paint job in my house, I realized that this app (or any such app) is completely useless. The color what you see on your phone screen and the physical color is quite different. Phone screens can be warm or adaptive to light, which doesn’t reflect the true paint color. I ordered 3 different samples which completely differed from the app. I finally stopped using the app and ordered paint from the old color-fan. I won’t recommend to rely on this app for any dark color..Version: 2.13

Very disappointedI was just in a Home Depot store to buy some paint samples and was told about this app. Got very excited and download while still in the store. Got my paint samples and came home to figure out what color will look best in my kitchen only to find out you can’t use the app as it was explained to me. Can only match a color and that does not help me. I usually read reviews before buying or downloading apps but was so excited I just downloaded it. Now looking at reviews to see this app no longer offers this functionality. Deleting app, it is of no use to me!!.Version: 2.1.1

Good on iPhone, Terrrible on iPadAlthough I love this app on my iPhone, it does not support iPad effectively. This color app does not rotate to support landscape orientation which is a huge disappointment on iPad because I generally have my iPad in landscape mode mounted in a holder or attached to the keyboard case and changing my entire usage pattern for just this one app is something I can do without. I had also hoped to see the sample photo on one side, with the paint choices still visible on the other side, they could really take advantage of the extra real estate with this app but instead seem to have just kept the iPhone version unmodified for use on iPad..Version: 2.13

Great concept, some minor annoyancesThe app is okay. I was unable to select a photo to use to see how paint would look on the wall. I was only able to take a picture and use that. When trying different paint colors, it doesn’t take you back to the color palette you were just at. It takes you to the top 50 every time and you have to find the color all over every time which is a pain. Just some minor tweaks and it would be great..Version: 2.13

Not a great user experience.Just started playing with this app so might be a matter of getting used to it but the paint job when clicking on the samples is terrible. The color is pixelated and doesn’t cover the full wall. There are no options to zoom in to the room to be able to make changes. Also, instead of being able to start with a room, looks like you have to start with a color. If you want to change the color, you have to start over. So far this is more aggravating than really helpful..Version: 2.2

Don’t take a pic with your phone for color matchI like the app if you’re using it with the colors already loaded in the app. I tried taking pictures of color swatches with two different iPhones, one being the newest best camera the 11Pro, and the pictures did not even come close to being a match. Green turned into aqua, etc. There are too many variables with lighting, shading, phone cameras, to make this a viable option. I would almost take this feature off until this is fixed, if ever. Customers will visit HD with a picture on their phone expecting it to be the color they want. It will not be..Version: 2.5

WorthlessI downloaded this APP to use the “color change” feature to test new and different house colors like was heavily advertised and marketed a few years ago, only to discover that feature has been REMOVED! I am soo annoyed. I am in the process of doing a cosmetic remodel of a home, and needed to see what the house would look like painted different colors to compare choices. The app is useless, worthless, and a complete waste of time. VERY low tech and embarrassing for 2019, considering all the progress we now have with A.I. and other design apps. 🙄😑😒👎.Version: 2.1.1

Gives access to all your photosThere is no way to just select specific photos without then going back to settings section of your phone each time to reselect different photos. You have to give the app access to every photo on your phone, or if you don’t then you have to go out of the app each time and go to settings and allow different photos, then go back to the app. Takes an eternity. Since i dont want to share every photo it makes the app totally unusable. Once you select initial photos within the app you can’t go back and just select new ones, without changing phone settings each time. The Pinterest link just goes to an error page after I log in to Pinterest so that part doesn’t work either. Super bummed because the one picture I was able to upload brought up beautiful paint colors. But I don’t want to share all my photos just to use the app for a few photos. Needs a better option to allow for data privacy and still use the app! I should at least be able to go to the camera section and click “select new photos” or “add photos” or something. It only shows the previous ones with no option to add unless you do it in the phone settings separately then come back to the app..Version: 2.13

App crashesI’m giving it a 2 star at this time because the App Crashes when trying to simulate the color on a photograph of my house. This was on an iPad Pro 11” which I was hoping to use the pencil to fill in the color, but as soon as I tap the picture of my house the app crashes. The result is the same using my finger or the Apple Pencil, So the app isn’t much good. The App did not crash on iPhone XR but you have to use your finger on the small screen and the results are not all that great. I hope they can fix the issue..Version: 2.2

No need to reinvent the wheel. When I downloaded this app a few years ago it was awesome!! I was making several changes to my house and it even helped me decide on what color of shutters would look best with my brick. It worked so well. I could zoom in and color a tiny strip for instance with the shutters on a picture that included the entire front of the house. For a while after that the “see it in your space” feature was gone. Now that it is back it is pitiful compared to the excellent product they had a couple years ago..Version: 2.4

Good idea- But app doesn’t work wellThe idea is great, but the functionality of app is worthless. Here’s why: 1. I downloaded and used app for 15 minutes during which the app crashed 3 times. Had to reopen and start over again continuously. 2. Taking photos and allowing app to access certain photos worked fine. When looking over color swatches, the names of colors weren’t available to see (you’re going on small color swatch alone). Once you click on a color and it takes you to your chosen photo, there isn’t anyway to “undo” or “page back” if you don’t want that color. E. G.- I accidentally tapped on one color swatch a few times because no names are given (until color is selected) and I wasn’t sure “which black color” in that row that I had already looked at. I didn’t realize I had selected the same color until I clicked on it and then I could see the color name. I had to exit out of the picture completely and restart process just to choose another color. 3. “Painting” the color onto photo. The tech is ok. It does leave a white outer line around “painted area”, so that can be distracting. I also had an actual paint swatch on the wall, so it had a white line around that swatch too. 4. Overall- the inability to go back to color sample options from photo (having to restart process over again & again) and the continually crashing makes this app not useful..Version: 2.13

Difficult to useI tried this app on both my iPhone and my iPad. I want to use BEHR paint from Home Depot so thought it would be easy. I have figured out the colors I want and planned to use the app to test out on photos I had taken. Loaded seven photos. App would only use two. Very disappointing. I have very high speed internet, but the app performed very slowly. Poor instructions. Great concept, but needs a lot of work. The app in Home Depot stores is similar and very slow. Wish I could figure out how to get some help!.Version: 2.13

App is not user friendlyReally clunky. You have no easy way to edit where paint goes. There is not a way to see the color group after selecting a particular color you are sent back to the beginning to find the color group. So if you accidentally tap the incorrect color you have to start all over. It’s just frustrating and quickly was made to feel I needed to find a different app to do this..Version: 2.13

Room for improvementThe colors groups are Amazing!! Once you select a possible color you also get alternative options that are same color but different gradients AND they give you all of the information you need to purchase the color selected. HOWEVER. the section of the app that allows you to take a picture and try the paint on the walls is useless, app crashes immediately. So you do still need to try the paint before you buy to truly see the color in comparison to its surroundings to ensure how the color matches. But with all the colors this app has, it definitely at least narrows it down heavily and I will highly recommend to everyone..Version: 2.13

Helpful with caveatsIt is nice to take a photo of your room and compare various colors to see how they work with your living space. However the coloring in is glitchy so only an approximation as does not allow for fine tuning, ledges gaps or over-paints into lamp shades and ceilings etc. be AWARE the color on your screen is NOT an exact match of the color in the paint. My best advice is to take the color photo of the color you like and visit the store. Compare the screen color to the sample strips at the store. I found that the color I lived on the app did not look the same at the store, but could use the app picture (screen capture) to compare to the strips at the store and find my color..Version: 2.13

Not user friendlyIt does the job of showing you how a certain color will look on your walls, but it goes back to original screen of “popular colors” every time you go to change the paint color. So let’s say you got to the section of like 100 green colors and pick one. If it’s a bit too bright and you want to see how another green nearby would look, it brings you all the way back to “popular colors” and you have to start over again. Super annoying..Version: 2.12

Only able to use in portrait mode on iPadOSI can’t remember the last time I used an iPad in portrait mode or the last time I saw someone else use an iPad in portrait mode. I’m guessing the vast majority of iPad users use their iPad in landscape at least 95% of the time. I’m not sure why Home Depot would then only make Project Color available to use in portrait mode on the iPad. On iPhone it makes sense. On iPad though, it makes zero sense that if you’re only going to allow portrait or landscape that you would go with portrait. Please add landscape mode to the app. Until then I guess I will use it only on my iPhone..Version: 2.9.1

Could Use ModificationsI’m finding that it’s almost impossible for an app that will allow you to virtually paint a room. I want to paint an “attic” cape cod room a dark green but not sure if I want to paint the whole room or just some of the walls. I was hoping an app would somewhat let me visualize my options. This app isn’t great as in, it can’t identify the walls. It generates very blotchy and you would need to put the paint density all the way up to completely fill the walls. Which then over fills lots of areas you don’t want paint including the floor, annoying, but not a big deal. I figured I’d just use the eraser to clean it up and get the general idea of what I was going for. This is where I just gave up..... the eraser is in the shape of a circle and doesn’t operate like most erasers in programs. While held down to erase it creates “circle stamps” instead of a straight line. You won’t be able to erase a straight edge....it’ll look scalloped..Version: 2.9.1

Not goodI downloaded this app to see what a white ceiling would look like in my cousins room and i was very disappointed with how the picture came out. First off, you can't even change the color panel when setting your space, it's stuck on popular colors which i don't want. Second of all the white that they had on the panel didn't turn out to actually be white once it was added to the picture it looked all pixilated and grey. Overall the colors on the panel don't show up in the picture how they're supposed to even in good lighting. I really want them to fix this because I know it used to be better than this..Version: 2.4

Make it betterI only gave it 2 stars because it’s more useful than having nothing at all, but really should be 1 star due to difficulty and glitchiness of actually using the app. They try to make it cool by filling in the color on the walls for you with just one tap, but with all the freezing/glitches it ends up being super time consuming to get a result. I ended up taking screenshots every time I chose a color because it was easier to freehand it with the iPhone photo Markup feature. (I was painting a piece of furniture in the room as well and seeing what color combos went well together).Version: 2.13
