Simply Piano: Learn Piano Fast for Negative User Reviews

So overpricedWhen I first got this app I was so excited to begin learning until I realized more than half the library needed premium so when i went to check the price of premium I was shocked. Like, why so overpriced! I ended up deleting it the first day and downloading piano academy instead. It’s waaay better than simply piano..Version: 8.8.2

Serious problems prevent it from being great.I have used this app nearly daily for 3 months now. It needs serious refinement. - Do not believe that you can get away with using the audio recognition feature. It is simply not accurate enough and is infuriating when you hit the correct note and it doesn’t register. You NEED a MIDI keyboard and expensive adapter to connect it to your device. - This app is good for the early beginner stages, where you progress quickly. It is terrible for intermediate stages and beyond. With trickier songs, they key to learning it is being able to practice a difficult section over and over again. This app makes this impossible, instead forcing you to use the slow and clunky rewind option, which makes repeating a tricky section laborious and impossible to learn. - The app will regularly move you on to the next section even when you missed half the notes of the previous section, and then doesn’t let you go back to practice the previous section! I obviously am not ready to move on to the next section if I missed half the notes! Hopeless learning experience..Version: 8.2.11

SomethingThis app can teach you the notes and basic things of the piano but if your learning to become a professional I wouldn’t recommend this a teacher is always a better choice the app won’t show you hand posture as well as a teacher, but it can teach basic knowledge. Another fact, I keep seeing all these ads everywhere and it does get annoying saying I learned this in 3 weeks I understand it’s to make profit but make it more believable.Version: 7.2.6

Waste of timeYou may as well just get a PROFESSIONAL teacher to teach you to play. If this app also taught you the more advanced techniques I would’ve rated it a lot higher, but you can only learn so far with Simply. I give a two star rating because i feel one star is a bit harsh and you get credit for motivating people to play but like i said it doesn’t teach you to play more advanced repertoire like Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff you name it. But I think it could be used as a good starting point for learners who need motivation or who just need a solid starting point so well done with that. However, I think you need to expand the amount you can learn for free or just make it all free and help people with the more advanced pieces and techniques they need to learn even if they have a teacher already the amount of extra help you COULD give them is very high and you have a good potential, but for now I think I will keep my rating until further action. Thanks for reading my review L.M. Walker.Version: 8.5.29

OkayThe app is good for beginners and family usage, the lessons are presented in an easy to interpret format and it has good recognition when using a cable. It is also very cheap. Most piano lessons cost £20 an hour give or take £10, this costs less than that per month. And if you’re complaining about price, developers need to put food on the table too, making high quality apps is expensive. However there are a lot of downsides that hold it back. The correct finger usage can be unintuitive and the app will likely alienate intermediate pianist or most pianists with a year of experience. The app completely skips everything that isn’t playing, such as counting or methods to improve sight reading like the landmark system. Most pieces have been transposed to different keys, which means after learning everything the app has to offer, you will have to relearn most of it in the right key. In conclusion, you will be much better off with an actual teacher who will iron out the mistakes the app can’t..Version: 7.0.8

It’s Bad sorryYou enter the app and it teaches you I like that but when you get to playing real songs it cost a lot of money I would like it a lot if you just put down the prizes thanks !.Version: 8.8.2

WARNING - Discount offer only allows single profileI had this app on phone for a while and decided on seeing 20% discount offer at £66 and as start of summer holidays to purchase premium access for my kids. However in trying to add second profile it said I’d have to pay £100! WHAT? It said I could add 5 profiles in info. On further examination I saw in subscriptions my ‘discount’ offer was for a subscription where you can’t do this though at no time during purchase was this made clear. There is however a ‘family’ sub that allows this! I hadn’t used app at all and went to apple web site within 1 hour to request refund but was unable to. I then contacted apple on chat, explained the obfuscation and that I had removed app from all devices instantly and not used it and secured a refund. I have since contacted developer and explained my woes and may reconsider when the pricing is clarified on the App Store. “Start with the customer and work back”.Version: 7.0.12

It’s not very goodI finished the practice for a song and then it would not let me go any further on less I paid for the subscription.Version: 8.2.7

CREATORS, PLEASE READ:I was really excited to learn my first song on piano because I had learnt all the chords and everything! But when the time finally came, I had to pay a subscription! And yes, I could do a free trial, but from what I’ve read on the previous reviews, it’s pretty risky in case you forget to cancel the free sub before it expires because they WILL take your money. All I’m really suggesting is a variety of songs people can play without a subscription, or at least let them play ONE song at the least. I think that if I had an experience of what it would be like with a subscription, it would be a great game and very useful! :) It’s kind of hard to leave a rating on this game (seeing as I’ve never got a chance to actually play something) but I’m leaving it with 3 stars..Version: 8.9.19

DisappointingThis is so annoying, I know you guys might not be responsible for the charges made automatically, but if you guys are doing this, please at least contact the people before charging and ask them if you want to confirm for the 1 year free trial. My friend and I were using Simply piano for the free trial for a school project, and then they charged my bank account for my uni fees. I may not be able to get my money back, but I just want to tell everyone to cancel you’re free trial before it ends and DON’T be late to cancel it. This is a big fraud and I’m very disgusted with this app. I deleted the app after our school project but they STILL charged me, how do you undo this? Never do the same mistake and hopefully the people will update it soon and change their ways instead of STEALING people’s money. This was very dissatisfying. If I could rate this 0 stars I would right now, do not use Simply piano until they have made amends please. Thank you..Version: 7.2.2

BeansI want to play the song beans.Version: 9.4

Im Not To SureThis app is good for beginners, adults, so on, but when I was on the first level, (intro) it kept making me press the c button so on, I found this a little annoying because it was like you where thinking I don't know how to press the keys, and the whole first level was just like that, it made me press c 3 times and d 3 times, now as somebody who has actual experience in piano I did not enjoy this. It felt like somebody was treating me as a special needs person, because they kept asking me to press c or d with just one finger, it felt as if they think I don't know how to press a key. I put in I have lots of experience on piano, and it still turned out like this. Obviously I was very disappointed at that point because the app wasn't as good as people say. Maybe the app is based on age? Im not sure at this point, and when you get past basics, it feels like the same thing. Overall this app disappointed me in multiple way, please change this 😕. Thanks for reading this, Hinata..Version: 8.5.11

Great app..... if it didn't constantly crashBought this app a few weeks ago. I tried it for a week then bought the full version. The app itself is really good. I like how you progress in small stages and I like the two tier system of chords and melody....... however! The app is becoming almost unusable. Every time I go to repeat a song the thing crashes. The screen starts to flicker and I have to restart the ipad to clear the error. This is the only app that does it. The trial version did it a couple of times But not to the extent that the full version does, or so it seems. I got to the point where I decided to ask for a refund but got a message from Apple saying that I did not meet the terms and requirements for a refund. This thing cost me 80 odd quid and it doesn't work. I would be VERY weary about purchasing anything else for such a price. I can stand to lose a few quid but not this amount. Seems like I am going to have to fight Apple for a refund now which I really could do without. Maybe Watchdog might be interested....Version: 7.0.4

UmmmSo basiclly I am a piano player and this app is really trash! I used to use this app and yes it was fun until I got real lessons. This app uses backing track music which makes it sound like u playing but ur probably playing cords. The money spended on this is mouth dropping. It’s like 100 bucks for this app and when u get lessons it’s probably the same price but at least u get more out of it. The adds that simply piano makes r just ridiculous. Anyways, the app is kinda trash so I recommend not buying this app and I suggest that you go u ur local piano teacher and get proper lessons. By the way Simply piano if ur reading this pls improve the adds and pls teach real piano. Also if ur letting ur kid on this which is okay just be reminded that in like 2 clicks they could be on games in 2 seconds. So pls get a real teacher and hear their opinions! I am just a small musician but at least I know something about real lessons and pricy lessons. Not making a frame that simply piano is trash but just stating that Simply piano just have to level up that realistically and make sure that what ur teaching is proper and right. Also just for a tip to at least make ur app approachable to piano teachers make sure to let ur piano lovers understand on finger rounding and pointy fingers. Thanks simply piano and pls take my tips and improve ur app. Thxs 4 ur time!.Version: 9.4.29

It’s okay ...... not greatSo this app could work for you but for me and my brother it made it more difficult. We did everything it asked and the microphone was on and everything! It kept on saying that we where playing the wrong notes when it clearly tells you on the practice of the notes it was correct yet when we played it to the music ( and the right timing) it was incorrect so we got our older sister to come and play this song ( because she has performed it at school ) she played it perfectly yet it said she didn’t . So me and my brother started an experiment one of us ( me ) used a book on music to learn piano while the other used the app . 4 weeks went by and I learned so much from the book but on the other hand my brother struggled learning so we even asked our dad to learn with him on simply piano and even he was struggling ! 5 weeks into learning I could play so many songs and knew so much about the keys I needed to use on a piece of music but my brother has to get stickers to go on the keys so he knew which ones are which . I performed some of the songs at school to my howl school and they loved it but my brother was still learning how to play simple songs like amazing grace . But he finally got 2 songs out of it and he was happy but he told me not to say it’s good because it took him 6 weeks to learn 2 song . So if you wanna download this I’m not stopping you but remember there is always books of music to learn from too !.Version: 8.2.1

VERY frustratingI downloaded this app to learn more songs not to learn all the notes that I ALREADY KNOW. I’m sure that it works but unless you pay, you need to learn everything that you already know about piano which I wish would change. I pressed that I was experienced already but it still treats you like a beginner that has never touched a piano in their life. Plus every time that I tried to pay to skip all of that it wouldn’t even work. I’m not going to quit immediately but if it still won’t work in a few days I am 100% deleting it. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this app for anyone who is experienced, impatient and easily frustrated like me. I downloaded this app to learn faster and more difficult songs DEFINITELY not to “learn” things that I already knew. Either that or pay for something that won’t even work. Not liking it at all so far. I’m going to keep trying but once again not at all enjoying it..Version: 9.4

I hate itFind all the notes it is and even make you the song the truth it doesn’t even let you play it just shows you the notes and then you have to pay like $15 a month maybe more maybe more than 15 maybe 25 I do not recommend it it’s super bad maybe just let me play one song but anyways please do not download this ever all these babies must be fake or they’re probably the developers who made it a download it along time ago when I said basically learned it only help me find the notes it just told me how to get this free trial and then I didn’t want to so then I just kept on playing and acting it out but then it charged me after I got all the notes done also that’s why you should go to Piano Academy it doesn’t charge you just click X on the free trial and then you will be playing piano playing so much so I even lived with my left hand I know where all the notes are located I don’t already know how to play sheet music without cutting any money so I think you guys should download Piano Academy and please do not come sing to me you’re sorry no blah blah blah 👎 go to Piano Academy you don’t need to pay anything if you want a free trial on there can you please do not take it on Piano Academy and he will be playing with both hands it’s amazing piano academy but instead of simply piano you just have to pay so yeah play Piano Academy thank you for reading this.Version: 8.5.24

Disappointing payment planMy 6&8 yr old boys have a keyboard that they have played with on and off for a year but my eldest (8yr old) really wanted to learn how to play properly and read sheet music so I installed simply piano. I found that he progressed very quickly and spent hours in his room on the keyboard with simply piano and then the free trial ran out and this is where it got very disappointing... the payment plans are ridiculous! I’m a single mum of 2 and can not afford to had over that lump sum of money in one go! If it says monthly then it should be charged monthly. Sadly due to this I have had to tell my son I can’t afford to pay for it and therefor have to delete it to which we are both very disappointed. If it wasn’t for the ridiculous payment plans I would give this app 5 stars without a thought but the payment plan left me frustrated so it gets 3 stars. PLEASE SORT OUT A MONTHLY PAYMENT PLAN THAT IS TAKEN MONTHLY..Version: 6.1.3

Good app yet...So i got simply piano! I was thinking how amazing i could be on my keyboard and i could show my friends, i started right away and i learned how to fluently play C,D,E,F,G i played a couple songs and did the singing songs it gave me. After the first chapter i thought, what a great app im learning sooo much better now! I clicked on the video part of the last section on the tutorial bit and then came the constant push to pay. I looked at the prices and for one month it was £7! I know they have the new year deal of £5 but for me this is way too much! Why? Because my mum won’t let me she already bought me an expensive keyboard (which sadly only has two octaves) and i have to pay to learn more! I even offered to pay half but still no! I have a suggestion make most learning parts free but without having the songs, for people like me who can’t spend much, this would be great! I hope you understand my situation, if you could could you give me a response! Thank you so much and i wish you a good year!.Version: 6.3.7

Extremely UnreliableHi, this is coming from a 13 yr-old kid who plays piano (currently learning from a teacher), trumpet, and guitar. I started playing piano when I was about 5 or 6, and tried picking it up about a year ago, first with Simply Piano. This app is definitely not worth the price. I must admit, the app’s quality is very pristine, but in terms of teaching the user about music, it is stupid. First, one major thing that is missing from this app is time signatures. In my experience (I sadly was very gullible and paid for this), the only time signature that Simply Piano seems to have is 4/4 time. If students learn piano entirely from this app without any musical knowledge and they go out in the real world of music where time signatures such as 3/4, 6/8, and 5/4 will occasionally pop up on their sheet music, they’ll be bamboozled. Second of all, key signatures. There is no key signatures, just open, and again when students read try to actually become better after Simply Piano, their gonna be dumbfounded when they try to play anything other than C•maj/A•min. They don’t teach barlines until later in the app. Also, can we talk about the ads for this app? They are absolute cringe and extremely manipulative. They try to lure in people who don’t know much about the process of learning music. My advice, don’t use it, and if you’re already learning with it, you might as well quit and actually learn from a teacher as soon as possible..Version: 8.1.1

HorribleI got simply piano before and payed 200 dollars to play piano and it expired after a few months then a year to two later( toady ) i played again and did the course and when i was about to play perfect it said look at all the songs you could play and said pay 200 dollars to do it then i went on library and said the same not even one free song it used to be like if you dont pay you can still play 4 songs from disney but now it just says pay 2 hundo bucks not even 1 free song . They make it so over priced so im not letting them think its okay and sign up dont get SIMPLY PIANO P.S i have learnt more piano on magic tiles 3.Version: 9.4.15

TfNot even free they charge you after letting you learn just a little bit.Version: 7.2.8

Decent app??I bought the 1 year pass and I feel like I was scammed. I already know the basics and intermediate (and some advanced) levels of piano and only bought the app so I can find cool pieces to play. The pieces were all simplified and not so great/simple (even the ‘advanced’ ones). My word for y’all is if you HAVE NEVER/BARELY played piano in your life and want to, then go for it. BUT! Take this app with a grain of salt. If you get/are above around Grade 4/5 then you should stop using this app (because it only teaches up to around Grades 4/5). I’m not asking for a refund, but maybe advertise a little more clearly :). A side note, It seems like Simply Piano is getting desperate with these cringy over the top ads. Every time I see one I just want to SKIP SKIP SKIP! Because they’re so annoying, and I think everyone except children would agree. Make your ads more realistic/interesting then these cheap cringy ads. (Like there was 1 ad for Simply Guitar about this guy feeling lonely at a group camp fire because he couldn’t play guitar) That ad I actually respected. I did like the ad with the mum and son, that was until I found out it was a fake story and not real. But that ad was MUCH MUCH better than the ads we have right now, it really annoys me and makes me hate Simply Piano even more. But that’s all 😁.Version: 8.5.33

How it’s needs an upgrade! So I’ve been always dreaming about playing piano, then I saw this amazing app but I didn’t back a piano or keyboard. I tried to find out how to get the app to have a piano in the app so I could play but it doesn’t and it’s so so sooooooo annoying! It definitely needs an upgrade or if I’m wrong I am very still annoyed it’s doesn’t show how to do something if you have any problems! So please upgrade and make a piano in the app that we can play on if we don’t have a piano or keyboard! Please.Version: 8.6.5

Bad😡🤬🥵I’m a really good piano player I wanted to see how they did it. It’s horrible I tried to do it all the notes it wouldn’t let me play the notes it’s like it was doing its own thing it was horrible and got me frustrated so don’t buy this and I’ll just let you do some notes and then you have to buy the app i’d rather get a piano just do it by myself and look it up on YouTube how to play piano it’s really bad so don’t waste your money please don’t waste your money I just can’t stand this app in the commercials please they show you on the piano commercial so fine so don’t buy APP 🥵🤬😡😭😢😤.Version: 8.2.3

I don’t understand how to play on this app!In my opinion I think it’s really hard to play this like I take piano lessons and this is harder than them because whenever I try to play it doesn’t count and then I basically all I have to do is sing the note and it will count I have to constantly play the note and I don’t enjoy it I don’t know if it’s just mine..Version: 7.2.8

BAD😡😡😡🤬🤬😤😤I wanted to play a song for my cousins birthday but then I had to pay a 100 bucks to learn it but I was smart enough to not get pay and delete this app. DO NOT GET THIS APP IT IS TERRIBLE 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡.Version: 8.2.13

To be clear...This is not for people who already know how to read notes and just want to follow music sheets or digital notes on particular songs. It will make you subscribe (7day refund trial), then it makes you go through a super slow process of “reading notes/ piano basic tutorial” which you have no choice to skip on even if you already know how to read it. If you’re a complete beginner, I would recommend..Version: 7.1.7

Only Facebook to search discussions?I have used for about 15 months. I have learned how to play using this program. Except for timing- you will have no idea where or why you are off time because this program probably doesn’t want to pay for the patent on showing why your off time. Other programs show when and where you are off time. This program is not for serious learners. I probably would have learned more and earlier if I could have searched discussions. I have unsubscribed and will continue to use for my remaining subscription. I will not continue to support something that I pay for that I can’t access one of the most important aspects of learning- the discussions. I am certain I can find another piano app that doesn’t require me to access Facebook for features I paid . Even more egregious is the developer response that I should just email them questions. That is exactly the problem- I paid your fee to learn piano and one of the features of learning is to access all of the discussions- but the developer wants me to join Facebook or just email them questions? That is not the same learning experience as paying a developer that actually provides a complete learning experience free of Facebook or with the ability to learn from others by reading through the discussions..Version: 8.9.6

DONT GET THIS APPThis app sucks because to play songs you have to pay a monthly subscription for the app so they can get money.Version: 9.4.1

CANCEL BEFORE THE FREE TRIAL ENDSThis is a really great app, but unfortunately the way you market your 7 day trial is not moral. I accepted the FREE 7 day trial, not knowing that when this finished if I did not cancel, I would automatically roll off and be subscribed to a full year subscription... I didn’t realise until I saw $135 had been taken out of my bank account. It appears that many others have been fooled by this too! I may have considered using your app if you had not been sneaky, as your business plan is dishonest - to make money by hiding behind a free trial and tiny terms and conditions in tiny font. I am extremely disappointed and have lost trust in not only this app, but other apps too. This is not fair and you have broken the integrity of app developers who are honest and clear about their conditions. Please refund my money!!! I have already sent you an email to support and have not heard back..Version: 5.3.2

Warning! They give you 7 days for free and then it’s a overpriced amount. Just use “musescore” it’s free and better.Version: 9.4.43

This app is incredible. The cost spreading availability let’s it down.I’ve been using simply piano pro for a week and excelled through the courses to essentials 2, but I didn’t have enough money in my bank to cover the cost of the courses once my free trials over. I’m really sad about this as I don’t get paid until the 20th and I really don’t want to lose any skill from not being able to practise. Is there anyway we can come to an arrangement, this is quite honestly the best app I’ve ever used for music. I’ve gone from not being able to play piano to being able to read sheet music in a week. What you’ve created here is exceptional and has the ability to teach anybody. I know it’s a lot to ask but it would mean so much to me if we could come to an arrangement. Please get in touch, I would hate to not be able to practise for nearly a month..Version: 6.3.8

I like the app but doesn’t work sometimes..The app is helpful and easy to understand. Which I do like, however, the app detects I’m playing a whole different key. It is hard to learn the piano on this app when it is saying you are playing a key wrong. I’ve learned a lot from this app but it is frustrating I have to play the key multiple times to move on. I’ve studied each key, to make sure it wasn’t me playing the wrong key, but it wasn’t. On the bottom of the screen it shows the keyboard, and when you play a key it shows which one you are playing, so when i play the key it wants me to play, it says I’m playing a different one. And to move on, I have to play a key that isn’t required. But on the bottom of the screen It says I’m playing the correct key. to play, I either, play the wrong key and it moves me on, or keep playing the right key over, and over, again and then it moves me on. Sometimes it doesn’t even move me on so I HAVE to play the incorrect key. So this will not help me become a better pianist by telling me the correct key is the wrong key, and the wrong key is the correct key. So I think they should fix that. But other than that it’s is a nice app. It is helpful other than the wrong key thing. It’s easy to understand which is great for young kids who want to learn by them self, like myself. But I really hope they fix that so I can give them a way better rating. If this wasn’t a problem I would give them a 5/5..Version: 6.1.3

TerribleI downloaded this app after hearing great things about it thinking I would enjoy this FREE app. I was completely wrong. The app itself is ok. I can understand how people enjoy it so much and to be honest, I was too. This was until I downloaded the “free” trial. A while after downloading it I had found out $134 dollars had been taken out of my account. Obviously this app is VERY sneaky and if it wasn’t for this, I would have considered playing the app more. As well as this, the keyboard I play would not tune with simply piano so I had to play the wrong keys the whole time to get it to work. Don’t download unless you are prepared for this..Version: 6.1.10

SucksWhenever I see them use people playing für elise I feel bad for all the people going to download. This app is the worst you can find on the market(quality/price) and by the way...I learned fur Elise in 23 minutes yesterday just by watching someone play so, maybe show people doing ACTUALLY IMPRESSIVE song like « rondo alla turcà Or something like that,Ho!y’a no u can’t cuz this app will never get anyone to this level!!!!y’a just do like me,stop wasting money, PIANO IS ART,when you’ll know your cord it w’ll come by itself...music should not be used as a bait to make people give you their money(last thing I wonder If the creators of the announces even know how to play(OD OF JOY)imagine bruh, yeah that’s it simply uninstall😤👌🏼✌🏼👋🏼🎹❤️❤️❤️❤️.Version: 8.5.10

Don’t act concussedUse your brain and don’t get it Edit: At least make the entire app free and make your ads realistic It is a insult to all pianists seeing infants play fur Elise in 3 days.Version: 8.9.11

Pretty GoodSimply piano is a pretty good app. It works in a simple way, and is great at teaching piano. The subscription is understandable, and the app is a lot cheaper than a piano teacher. Although I do wish you could play the song you picked at the end of the lesson and then have to pay the subscription to go farther, that is a minor detail and not worthy of a star deduction. However, there are some major issues that need to be fixed. One issue is that even when I’m playing the correct chords, the app doesn’t hear anything. This caused me to be stuck at “jingle bells” for a very long time, even though I was playing it correctly. The biggest issue is that, after I play for a few days, when I enter, I can’t do the lessons. I click, and nothing happens. I can’t do songs or practices either. The only thing I can do is sheet music. It stays like this for days at a time, and then goes back to normal (for a few days until the cycle repeats). Speaking of sheet music, this isn’t a glitch but I find it quite annoying. You have to scroll through them. They could just size it down and make it so it all fits on your screen at once, but no, you have to pause every few lines to scroll..Version: 8.2.2

PrixJe trouve que ceci est très cher.Version: 8.1.1

Sound good without actually being proficientSo this app is advertised as a platform to get beginners into learning piano and sound amazing. DO NOT USE THIS APP IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO BE PROFICIENT!!!! I can not stress this enough. This app throws you into playing and barely glosses over music theory which is the most essential part of being able to grow as a musician and grow on your own in the future. This app is aimed at keeping you reliant on it and keeping you paying the subscription fee. I personally lost almost a year of self learning time on this app, and I kept going because I thought I sounded good. But when I went to start learning on my own I was completely lost without this app holding my hand. If anyone reads this review I would highly recommend the book Alfred’s All in One Piano course which is a three book series starting from the basics of music theory and slowly working up to advanced pieces. This series doesn’t make you reliant on it but instead gives you the necessary tools to grow and learn yourself. In conclusion, if all you’re looking for is to be able to play a few popular tunes for some clout around your friends than this is your app. If you’re actually serious about learning the piano there are a plethora of sources out there that I recommend you search out..Version: 8.2.19

Pay for one year onlyMy kids loves this app and signed up for the free trial. The app has now just taken $135 off from my account for the year subscription. I can see from other reviews that there’s no point in asking for a refund (because I won’t be getting anything back), so I would only like to subscribe for just the one year I have paid for unknowingly. Can you please just have my app set up for just the year, and then cancel automatically after that? Also - I’d like to get a receipt of what’s been taken out of my account for this app..Version: 6.1.8

Fun but has serious limitationsI have got this for my nearly 7 year old son for lockdown as he needed a change from being taught by me! He certainly finds it quite fun so far but frustrating that the microphone doesn’t always pick up the notes and penalises you unless your timing is perfect. Whilst clever there is no explanation of time signatures or lessons about tone and musicality it’s literally getting you to play the notes. Playing tunes with the back up tracks can be stressful as one little mistake and he has to start again. Another mistake and you have to play it really slowly which is actually REALLY hard for kids. Biggest annoyance is that despite advertising to the contrary there is no ability to pay monthly- after trial period it’s basically a choice between 6, 9, 12 months so a lot of money. I wouldn’t be doing it at all if it wasn’t for lockdown- for now my son is enjoying but we’ll be going back to the traditional way as soon as we can (if he also wants to continue with this then I don’t mind but it is expensive!)..Version: 8.2.7

UmmmmmmmmmI got it one time and I just couldn’t do it and now I’ve gotten it again but I still can’t work I can’t actually have accurate level skil input cause you have to basic and some experience and I can only play my own songs and they sound rlly good but I can’t read sheet music all tho I can read the first three notes I can’t play them on touch keyboard barely can and on a real piano it would prob be harder I prefer to play with full piano different notes to make music without needing to know also another review recommended yousision so I’m trying that than I shall compare 2 stars cause it can teach you sheet music or how to read it otherwise it would be 1 but I mean zero so your lucky u get 2 also don’t get this app if u just wanna play piano and for the devs you should also add free play so you can just play k bai edit:I tried yousician and it also has problems sooooooo............k bai.Version: 8.2.5

This whole thing it will tell you everything you need to knowAt first you will get like a couple seconds maybe minutes of trying this app and you’ll get the first two seconds off and then you need to continue the trial not the child but like something fun to buy premium and this is kind of like normal piano lessons but online if you want to get the whole year one is $143 I think so if you’re willing to pay that much for this do it it’s all you but if you’re not willing to pay for it then don’t get it you’ll never be able to continue playing after the last part of the night the last part but the second to last part so if you want to continue doing that buy it done easy over with continue if you don’t wanna do it then you’ll just get the forest for five of the practice and then you can’t do anything else so what you need to do is delete it or buy it you can’t do both or you can’t just do it for free so I was pretty bummed out myself I am pretty young like am I tween years but if you are willing to pay a lot of money do it it’s not a lot of money if you really think about it the the first three months one not the first three months but one of them is three months you’re paying at least $25 a month for it soIt’s it’s that that’s that so if you want to do that do it Lastly look at all the other reviews before you download it I’ll tell you other things.Version: 8.6.7

It was a good appThe first time I got simply piano it was… pretty good. 5 stars. Until I got a new iPad and restarted all my progress. Yeah… pretty exited because my old iPad lagged and kicked me out of simply piano every one else in a while. So that’s why I was excited. When I finally played perfect…………… yeah surprise surprise it costs money. WHAT?! Yeah you heard me. COSTS MONEY? Free trial. Don’t think so. So yeah. Get premium! Are you trying to get little kids pay for stuff when they delete or get it on another device? And I didn’t get premium. Please fix this PLEASE. I love simply piano. I don’t want to give it a. Bad review. If you do, I might change this review..Version: 8.9.4

Glitchy and doesn’t listenI was playing “Pop Chords” and I went to the training for the song “Knocking On Heaven’s Door”, so then I played the chords. It all went well until I got to the part where you play the lower part of these chords. The app listened to the “G”, but when I tried to play the rest, it wouldn’t listen to the note “D” and “C”. I am so disappointed in this apps listening skills..Version: 8.2.7

I hate itI could not stand this app whenever I played it correctly because I have some experience it would not read the notes I finished I have some experience and it wouldn’t help me because the things it was telling me I already knew I definitely don’t recommend this app.Version: 4.13

If I could give it zero stars, I would. This app is terrible. I would press the correct note and it would still tell me that I was doing it wrong even though my phone was right beside my piano. Terrible app. I don’t recommend..Version: 7.0.4

THIS IS THE WORST GAME EVERMy daughter just spent a while trying to figure out how to play simply piano and then she finally figured it out she got through the first lesson and then premium membership came upand her dad was like don’t get that that spends money and then she said OK then she came told me. I said I would write a bad review because it’s not fair that all these kids and parents and teenagers that want to learn how to play the piano they want a good app for it how to spend money I mean some people can’t even afford it and it’s just too expensive people can spend a while trying to find a good piano teacher when they could just be using simply piano but those who can’t afford I can’t even learn how to play because I mean simply piano it’s just the same amount that any regular piano teacher it is and so it’s not fair and then she deleted it the other day and then she just said that I’m getting a new game I said OK probably better off than having simply piano then she got this Encanto game and I’m not even gonna mention about that but so we got like 45 or 46 commercials for simply piano and then she just laying on the floor and crying so simply piano what a shame of you what a shame it is not fair at all to have people have to spend money have to see a bunch of stupid commercials and have to have so many Bad days just because the simply piano😡😡😡.Version: 8.9.14

Developers please read this!I have got some suggestions for you that will change your app completely and make it better so listen to this and make a new update with everything in this letter. 1) The first thing is that the App listens to its self not you necessarily it just listen to the lyrics of the song and gets it all right and then you just keep getting good grades even though you’re really bad at it. It’s also not actually giving you feedback so if you could change that that be great because then the app wouldn’t listen to you and that would be amazing. 2) The songs are sung by other people not the actual person and that bothers me because it’s not that hard to get the real lyrics of the song instead of someone just singing it so can you please get the real actual song because then it will be way more groovier and you’ll want to play it all day. It also be way more rememberable. 3) The last and final thing is do you know the yearly payment? It’s really high so I’m suggesting that you can cut the yearly payment by 100 bucks and more people will be getting that and there will be more users! Thanks developers for reading this and please make a next update with everything I put into this. bye bye.Version: 9.1.1

OkayI downloaded simply piano yesterday and I was thrilled to know it was free, or so I thought, they teach you the basics for free and after if you wanna continue you have to pay, and my family isn’t rich and we just moved and so we spent a lot of money so I don’t want to bother them with my problem so I beg simply piano to make it free.Version: 8.2.13

TrickedIn YouTube saying it was free, I was very excited! Downloaded and it’s not even close to free..Version: 8.5.33

It was good at first but thenSo one night I was playing a game and this ad shows up and it’s for simply piano so I was like you know what let me just get it because I was kind of bored and didn’t really have anything else to do I grab my keyboard piano thing out and get it set up and then I downloaded the app and it loaded and then it give me a few lessons and let me create a profile create multiple profiles what age you are I really liked that it was cool you know I really liked their lessons were like really helpful and they went slow like they actually helped me to do it but once you finish most of them like the first big lesson and then you choose a song it says that you have to pay which I just feel that is dumb because I wanted to have fun and just experiment this I have a new hobby but literally it cost money I know that’s what games are kind of for but I was really hoping that this one like didn’t have money requirements because I actually did want to play piano and like a learn how to cause I’ve always wanted to but like they just like I thought I could do it but then after I saw we had to pay I was just no so if you wanna learn somethings just just go on there do the first lesson but you’re not pay for it it’s not worth it and you shouldn’t have to pay for something an app to do this I think it was really dumb why they did this so I liked it but then I had to pay so I didn’t.Version: 8.7.0

Why!!Hello, I would like to say when I got this on my tablet I was excited to extend my knowledge with playing keyboard. So I got onto the app and I went through the profile thing and then it asked me what song I wanted to play at the end of the lesson, I chose a song and when I got to that part it was asking for money. Just to play your keyboard or piano for a year or 6 months. And it’s expensive! Some people don’t have that money they are asking for but overall that is why I give a small amount on stars ⭐️. This app has 5 star quality but I would rather point out this. I have a small recommendation which is to maybe put the price down a little so you still earn money but also more people will be able to use your app, Simply Piano. And I get that every person really likes money but in an app just think about the audience for a second. Thank you very much if you took the time to read this review! Have a wonderful day ! P.S today make a difference 😊 👍🏻.Version: 8.5.5

I’m just a kid🙁Hello simply piano this is really an amazing app but i really wish it was free or less money because im only 15 and cant pay for it by myself, now u might ask why don’t I ask my parents? Well they don’t really support me playing the piano and think it is a waste of time, but I really do have a passion for it and really want to learn but unfortunately I can’t because it costs money and im not working yet. My older brother really wants to help with the pay as he supports me fully but he isn’t really financially stable. So now I have no choice but to let go of my passion. I have tried other free apps but they just don’t compare to simply piano. Maybe if you had any free app recommendations since I’m unable to pay for this app🙁🙁🙁🙁😔 It’s really unfortunate as I was really looking forward to finally learning how to play the piano😔.Version: 9.4.29

Good for learning but frustrating and oh my god the adsI like the idea of the app but it could really be executed better. First I want to talk about the ads as a side note. I feel like it might be possible to grow fast but come on, not a five year old in less than a year with complete knowledge. I know a lot of little kids and none of them can sit down for long enough when they have a choice to play more than ten minutes each day on the piano. Tying into that, the app is frustrating. I swear, practice mode is nightmare fuel. And for a beginner it’s so hard to see which notes are which. I think it would be worth a feature that lets you see the letters corresponding to the placement on the staff if you choose to display it. Maybe the notes are just me but as a beginner I have trouble every time. Also having songs locked behind courses is frustrating. If I want to realize that I’m not ready or am ready I’ll do it before I finish a course. I like how you can slow songs down but the menu you can pull up is not ideal, especially if you are just pausing it to go do something. You have approximately two seconds to put you hands back in position. Good luck. Overall I’d say the app is kinda average..Version: 8.2.2

I’m Disappointed. When I got this game I was excited, super excited, but not long after that I got really disappointed, let me explain why. So I downloaded thinking, this is awesome, I’m gonna learn how to play piano and be able to read the music. I was super pumped about it so I got on right away, when you go in they have you creat a account which was super easy and I had no trouble with it at all, though It did ask if I wanted to go premium and of course I put no because I don’t have the money to spend on an app, I mean if I had the money for the app I would just go to an actual piano lesson, not to mention the prices are pretty high, but anyway I was on the app for about 5 minutes because that’s how long the app says I should practice for, and then I was done, super easy super fun so I got off the app and went on with my day. Later that evening I wasn’t doing anything so I did it for another 5 minutes and after that I finished the first whole lesson and I was like wow I really like this app, I learned a lot and it doesn’t take forever, little did I know that after you finish the first lesson you have to go premium to do anything else and that makes me very frustrated because there are a lot of teenagers and kids and some adults who can’t afford lessons and this app might as well cost the same as an actual lesson. But I’m sure it’s great for the people that can afford it. I just think that they should say before you download that you only get one lesson..Version: 8.4.6

WhyI am really angry and disappointed. This app is so good and already made me learn the first 5 notes and it would get 5 stars but I didn’t even get to play one song because you have to play money and it is really expensive who would buy that not everyone is billionaires! It gets a one star my family are going though a lot right now and can’t afford that and I was really excited to play I am so disappointed that I can’t even play just because we don’t have money that is really annoying that you make us pay so much. Ik you have to make money some how but why so expensive. And I only got the learn 5 notes and not even one song. Like jesh. I just really wanted to play the piano. And no I can’t. I was really excited. It is so expensive. If you HAVE to keep it having to play at lest make it cheaper or like us play 5 songs or even 1. Like it would make so much more people happy and don’t you want people to be happy and want to play. You are crushing people dreams just because they can’t afford you over priced game. Please make it so you don’t have to play or can at least make it cheaper so some other people can buy even though I can’t and even just make it so you can play 1 or 5 or 10 or something songs. I am deleting this app now. It was nice to learn 5 notes and really fun and good but I am not going to pay so much money for it. It’s so expensive. I couldn’t even play one game! As you can tell I am very disappointed and angry! 😡😠☹️😭😞.Version: 8.5.22

Good app.... but watch out for predatory sign-up/payment issuesThis app has been great for my kids who are enjoying learning piano and progressing well. However, our enjoyment is spoiled by a couple of things. Most importantly, when I signed up in the first place, I was prompted to upgrade to a “family membership”, for an extra £60-odd on top of the £80-odd cost of the normal yearly rate. I decided to agree to that so we could have individual learning journeys. However, the app took the money for BOTH subscriptions, even though I clearly only needed the family one and had been promoted by the app itself to sign up for this. I’ve contacted both JoyTunes and Apple repeatedly to try to get a refund for the cheaper of the two as it was so clearly a mistaken purchase - and one I entered into entirely in error and because of the misleading prompting by the app- but I have received no response or refund. Considering this is a very expensive app and a significant commitment by a customer, I am very disappointed and in fact quite shocked by the way I’ve been treated. Buyer beware..Version: 8.1.0

Missed opportunityWe tried the first portion of your app and it looked great, the next step was to do the free trial and then probably sign up. When we went to start the trial, we noticed that the free trial was only available with the 12 month period. When we checked the reviews it seems a few people have been suckered by this. It’s a pity because we would have signed up otherwise but the method you use is sneaky. Apologising after the fact then stating terms and conditions shows that this is by design. So, you have lost our business..Version: 6.3.5

Want me to lose my moneyThis app is helpful but why is it that to spend money?! 😖.Version: 8.8.2

Amazing app but equally as frustratingSimply piano is a great app for picking up the basics of piano. I’ve been using the app for about 2 months now and honestly you won’t regret BUT there is some major downfalls. One big downfall would be the tech behind the app simply miss registering notes 95% of the time. As fun as the app is it drives you up the wall. I also find the best part about this app is the BETA sheet music which is available on the iPad. A library full of different types of music that cater to everyone’s needs I get a lot more use out of this than having to sit and frustratingly learn pieces that I don’t have any wish to learn without the annoying notes being missed by the app. My only nag is that I’d love for the library to be updates even more regularly with new music as it can get a little boring at times. Another downfall is key signatures don’t seem to be a thing in this app as of yet?? Hopefully the deeper in I get income across them. Again all that aside all in all the app is great and I do recommend it just needs some work..Version: 8.1.1

Not very goodI said I had a lot Ed experience with piano, still put me in the category of learning C and D position. Horrible. When I was playing the tutorial just to see what was next, it took FOREVER! The app is so sensitive and I was pressing C and D but it never picked up the sound even thought it was RIGHT beside the piano. Not recommended..Version: 4.15

Not worth your time very BADVery bad and is not worth your time, after a week you have to start to pay. I said I had learned piano before but they made me play the note c. the microphone didn’t work either even if it was right beside my piano. VERY BAD.Version: 7.0.6

Spend to muchYou pay way to much money for what you get I learned faster with YouTube.Version: 9.1.1

It’s okay? The problem it costs money and I was actually doing so good until I found out I had to pay!😡.Version: 8.10.1

MIDI does not workDisappointed with the purchase. 7 day trial is not enough to fully test out its functionality and see if it works for you. We purchased for simply guitar since our oldest daughter already plays the piano and uses a different program for piano practices. We decided to try simply piano with our younger child since the subscription covered piano and guitar. And the app is terrible. It picks up the wrong sounds and marks it as right. Even when my son plays the right key it doesn’t mark it as right. Sometimes the app freezes up. We tried using headphones as is suggested but that doesn’t help. It still doesn’t notice the right or wrong keys. We used a MIDI connection. My older daughter uses a MIDI connection with a different program and Bluetooth and plugin MIDI works so I know there’s nothing wrong with the MIDI itself. We connect it via MIDI to hopefully get some more accuracy and it works for about 30 seconds and then doesn’t pick up anything. The same thing happens even without the MIDI connection. Please invest in building an app that works with MIDI. I was really excited about the interface and way the lessons work. As an instructional designer, the layout and lessons look good, but the practice modes doesn’t work which renders it useless..Version: 9.4.3

I HATE ITThis app made me cry. It was okay at first when I finished the tutorial, but then I found out I could not play without paying. This made me cry then I deleted it. I HATE THE APP. Change it. Please..Version: 8.5.33

DevastatedI am absolutely so gutted, I downloaded the app for me and my little brother to play piano together and in doing so, he signed up for the free 7day trial, which stupidly enough I did not check had a renewal of $135 for a years subscription. This came out of my account today and after realising where this money had gone I broke down, this was a large chunk of my babysitting money I had saved for uni, which I start in a week. I am so freaking guttered that such a huge thing was overlooked, $135!? 😭 I don’t know what to do, I have contacted the app makers in the hopes that this can be returned as I haven’t used a single minute of the subscription after the first day of the free trial so I am completely devastated. After contacting my bank things are pending there but I thought I just had to post and let everybody know to BE CAREFUL, I feel so ripped off and hopeless right now I just hope that my money can be returned as I don’t even have the app on my phone anymore and have not used any of the goods/subscription purchased. I would hate to think that others could be put in this devastating position, hence my decision in posting on here for all to see..Version: 6.3.8

It’s okay but…The app is actually pretty good but i got annoyed pretty quickly because when I played the correct notes, simply piano marked the note as wrong. I’ve tried about 10 times, but it’s not working, and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. If I’m just doing something wrong then please tell me because I’ve tried everything. Thanks :D.Version: 8.6.6

Zero Stars.A long time ago I downloaded simply piano to learn piano. I had a good time until it wouldn’t listen to the notes. It was annoying so I canceled my subscription and went to real piano lessons. Some things the app did not teach me and expected me to know. I said I did not have prior experience of piano. This is dumb. I thought simply piano had a team of people working on lessons for me. They can’t even teach..Version: 9.3.2

Disappointing. Please change.I have been playing piano for a few years and am familiar with all the basics I can read sheet music and simply got this app to learn a few songs. When I opened the app it asked me to verify my experience I didn’t put I learned as a child because I AM A CHILD and so I put some experience. I think you need more options at this level after you open the app because I discovered shortly after that I had to learn all the basics again before moving on. THEN I discovered I couldn’t learn songs for free! I considered getting a membership but it’s SO EXPENSIVE! Please change this then I will reinstall your app. I’m really disappointed and hope this changes..Version: 7.0.12

This app is pure disappointmentAs the title of this review say this app should have no more than a star. I have tried to enjoy this app but it is not possible and when you learn the piano basics is over is expects you to pay $90 to $162 and people are not going to spend that much on a app let’s be real get this sorted out please not all people are made of money and don’t do the 7 day free trial as it charges you at the end without you knowing This app would be great without the charges you try to get people to pay I don’t see the clout this app gets.Version: 8.6.0

It works if you use it right..Firstly I advise if you are committed to learning you have to use the right equipment, yes the app listens to you play so no direct connection is required but using the app this way will not give you the best results this is not the fault of the app but rather the technology it uses to listen to how you play. The only way to get the best out of this app or anything similar is to use a good piano that has Bluetooth built in, I have a Roland fp-30 with Bluetooth and the app works perfectly through this piano. I have been playing for about a month now and I the app in my opinion is fantastic and worth every penny to get the results you want. If you are truly dedicated to learning invest in a descent piano and an ipad and I would guarantee you will live the app. There is a support group on Facebook that the admins run and this is also very good everyone helps each other and everyone there is great. If you actually want to learn invest in decent equipment and download the app you won’t regret it. Update, been playing six months now and I can now read music and to a point automatically playing and recognising music I hear, I would like to start using simply guitar it is a shame that there is no deal available as far as I am for using both apps..Version: 8.4.12

Good for learning piano, but...I like SimplyPiano because it is a fun and easy way to learn the piano. The only problem is how expensive the premium is. I would pay for premium, but it is expensive. If you guys could please make it just a tad more affordable? That would turn this into a 5 star review. It is really easy to use, but like i said, please decrease the prices. Also, you don’t get a lot of songs. Sure, with premium you have several and several songs at your fingertips, but not everyone can afford to pay it. Without paying for premium, you only get one spreadsheet with the notes on it and the basic starter lessons. It's not that much to play, and you get bored really quickly. If you’re willing to pay that much for premium, then go ahead. Though, I for one, wouldn’t waste my money. It’s not that the app isn’t good, it’s just pricey..Version: 8.2.0

Why?I want to start off by saying this app was great while it lasted, and it was looking for feedback on the lessons and stuff, however I’m really disappointed. I was really looking forward to using this to learn piano because my mother learned how and I thought it would be cool. I did not think that this rip off of an app would try to get me to pay premium without even getting to play the songs that I really wanted to play (Für Elise and My December). I’m a kid, and my family doesn’t have the money to pay for a subscription, so I’m asking that you either lower the price, or let us play a few songs for free. I would have given it 4, maybe 5 stars if I was able to play more than Ode To Joy but I can’t. I don’t get how people can give this app such a high rating, doesn’t it feel like a scam? Getting you to pay at almost the very beginning of getting the app? The ads also really confused me, I thought that the app would be free and I would be able to have fun playing songs but nope. The ads of SimplyPiano mislead me and probably a lot of other people. I kind of find it disgusting that they wouldn’t put a mention or something to tell us that we had to pay for a subscription anywhere in the ads 😒. Sorry if this was a rant, but I’m just really upset. -Axel.Version: 9.0.6

I have a problem with youSo one day I found this app after that, I thought I want to do the piano on my iPad I thought it was really good learning piano thing because you know is that you play on your iPad and iPhone I kind of got bored, so I deleted the game downloaded it back today after that I’m making my new account after that it say’s do you have a piano or not I pressed no answer that I finally get to learning, but then guess what it says you already have an account so I’m okay with that. It’s just when I get to middle C and middle something. I see the keys are very short so I don’t have a piano after that when I make a sound in my mouth it makes one of those cords ding blue so I realise you put it for people that have piano mode I don’t even try to say that oh, the other account you had is with the piano I do not have a piano. Remember that I remember when I first started playing I clicked I don’t have a piano. It worked all perfectly fine, but now I’m starting to have a problem..Version: 9.4.17

Gamified approach annoyingSoo initially I was impressed with this app… because i already know how to read music and finger placement etc it was good to just get a refresher on this. And yes it was forcing me to play popular tunes mainly I thought this would change once I had completed the essentials because I had selected a classical route. However it soon became apparent I was not going to be learning stuff rigorously it was just going to be a matter of hitting the right notes In the right order then bingo the next level is available. And it’s so essential to be able to repeat stuff to learn things properly and to adjust the tempo neither of which are available. And the tiresome arrangements of chart music is not my bag (why would I have selected the classical route otherwise?) I got this app on the reccomendation of friends and a promotion included with the piano. I so regret going or the annual subscription now as I cannot see any way of getting my money back..Version: 8.8.1

Yay then noooooo!I just got a piano I was so exited I learned a little song online then I saw simply piano I downloaded it. Then I opened it I had to pay 💰 50 bucks for one month! What a bad game. Don’t get it!.Version: 7.0.5

Hungry for moneyThis is bad. I can’t play my songs cause I need to pay. The ad was a lie. This is horrible.Version: 7.0.4

Good in the beginning horrible in the endAs the title suggests I thought it was amazing… in the beginning. After about a month I realised a few glitches started coming up. Then about half a year in it was recognising lots of notes wrong especially more advanced chords and notes. I really think his app is good, when your starting out but after that your much better off learning from an actual teacher..Version: 9.1.16

This app is not even CLOSE to freeRip off.Version: 7.0.6

AWESOME BUT TERRIBLEI soooo LOVE this app, it’s the BEST!!!!! So useful and teaches you so fast. I’ve been using this for a year and 1/4. BUT like seriously, I really love the quality and feature but the price is too expensive. I gonna ask you, “what is a piano learning app even for?” Right? Well the answer is for LEARNING and getting EDUCATED and to IMPROVE, if you want us people to learn how to play piano then why are you making us pay!?!? Like isn't education suppose to be free?! I don’t understand. Maybe you can have money in the app such as premium songs or better feature. Those I understand why you need to pay but paying like 200 or 100 $ is just wayyyy too expensive. And most people think so too. I’m not saying I don’t like this app, all I’m trying to say is that it’s way too expensive. I’d rather learn by book. 😒😒☹️.Version: 8.9.24

Have to pay too soonI’ve been wanting to learn piano for a while but wasn’t convinced I would want to stick with it. When I saw the description said there was an onscreen keyboard I decided to give the app a go as I wouldn’t be paying to buy a piano. However after about 10 minutes of playing it told me that to do more I needed my own piano/keyboard which was annoying. I then found out I have a very small keyboard at home so started using that but then after about 20 minutes of that it told me I couldn’t start the next lesson until I payed for a subscription. I understand that they want to make money but I don’t yet know if I want to even play the piano or if this app will work for me. I had previously used Yousician to learn guitar and I found that better as you got free 10 mins a day so I knew I liked the app before having to pay. It would be better is this app was similar because I am unable to make progress without committing for longer than I want to. If you are happy to pay then I am sure this app is great but if not then I wouldn’t recommend it..Version: 8.0.2

Mixed thoughtsThe app itself is good, easy recognition and information that sticks in your head. However I’m giving it three stars because of the price. Personally I think seven pounds a month is a bit much, I’d like to make a suggestion on how to attract more people, here is the formula: lower price means more attention, more attention means more subscriptions, more subscriptions means the same amount of money you would normally get. You could either have very few people paying very high prices and struggle with money or you could have loads of people that won’t struggle with money, and still learning piano as a bonus. I’d recommend changing the price from seven pounds to three or four pounds a month. Thank you so much for taking this review into consideration, have a great day. Plus you might want to stop making scenarios in ads, (it gets rather cringey at times)..Version: 9.0.4

Plz helpHello so I downloaded this app and I was really excited so I get to the point and I want to Learn the SONG then it hits me it costs $135 and I was shocked so please please I’m not an app person but I do know that it should not cost that money maybe just like make it $15 or $20 it just blows my mind and it’s really sad because I bet a lot of people really wanted to use that app but they didn’t want to spend that much money on it and I’m not saying it’s a bad app but just the amount of money is crazy but please take this and think about it and have a good day and yeah just please think about it because it could change a lot of things.Version: 8.8.2

I’m sorry no stars for this one...(only 1 I guess...)This app didn’t really work for me I should have listened to the reviewers...Simply/joy-tunes are money eaters, there I said it money eaters. You could do better by not using like almost EVERYTHING with money plus what’s with the intro thingy if you can’t go on a certain level??? It literally just asks you ‘do you have some experience? What age?’ And blah blah blah so what? Pls stop the whatever money thingy it just steps down a level of ‘OOH SIMPLY PIANO IS SO GOOD!’ I have some experience and I just wanted to learn how to do a little bit of sight reading and some improvement the ad says ‘IT SUITS ANY AGE OR EXPERIENCE!’ Something like that...but my point is to edit it...pls...Version: 8.2.5

Pls read if you’re getting this for your kidI’ve been struggling to play piano for a while and I was like oh I should use this app! And you know what, it was decent until I needed to pay premium to continue on with my lessons. That’s a big no from me, but my little brother was super interested and he hasn’t played piano once in his life. So I thought well, I’ll get as much out of this as possible. I set up a new profile and everything, and thought he would at least learn a few things, but man it was way to fast-paced for him. The ads are all like “OMG THIS SIX YEAR OLD LEARNED HOW TO PLAY PIANO IN A FEW WEEKS” and my six year old housemate rage quit as soon as he was thrust into the side scrolling play along with the music thing. He’d been getting by by looking at screen, looking at hand, squinting, pressing key, moving on, which was pretty slow. I tried to calm him down but little brothers are the worst. A few days later he tried again, and got further, I guess. Let’s just say that taking a mini child through this app results in much angry piano smashing and “I PRESSED THAT KEY!!!!!” and tears. Basically, no, your toddler is not going to learn piano with this app. I’m sure there are more kid-oriented versions somewhere, but don’t believe the ads with a little baby jamming out to baby shark like a Mozart.Version: 8.5.3

I don’t have any money...Seriously I downloaded the app finished all the lessons that are for free and all I get is a good job and if you want to continue you have to pay. Then later I asked my mum but that’s because I didn’t have the money to continue so what I asked her was I am I really enjoy this game but it says to pay money and it’s very annoying that it is money but my mum replied and said oh I’m sorry but I don’t have a Enough of money either so we both were poor.... to be honest I actually really enjoyed the app but can you just do all the lessons for free because I really enjoy it and even when I downloaded the app of the ads and it’s really annoying how the ads annoy me when I still have the app and I bet a lot of people relate to that so please simply piano creators developers can you please just stop giving me your ads and let me have a free trial of zero dollars or something please okay that’s it but I give this three stars it’s not bad not good but it’s right in the middle..Version: 7.2.7

This is a total scam, do not download this app! Before I even start anything, I wanted to say that I have been playing music since I was a toddler. I wanted to download a app to see if I could learn anything new and I have been seeing this app pop up everywhere. Lets start listing the bad side. This app does not let you skip ahead. When I downloaded it, I wanted to get to more advance stuff but I couldn't I had to sit threw every single lesson. About 10 minutes later, I finished my first lesson. So, I just wish that I could be able to skip ahead. Two, you have to pay money to move on. After finishing the first lesson, I was finally going to move on until I realized that I had to pay money! This is just seriously unfair because in no where do they say that it you have to pay money (I think they even said that it is free in adds)! These two reasons are what I think is wrong with the app. Now lets move onto the adds. Just to warn you, its usually not the person in the add that is playing the piano. People who play the piano can obviously see that. They are sometimes not keeping up with the tempo, or they are playing the wrong notes. So the adds that say “beginner, intermediate, professional” are pretty much all lies. Not going to lie, I want to hear how the pianist actually sound when she is actually playing. Anyway this is why you should not download this app..Version: 8.9.3

Good app but w/ a MAJOR issueGiving this 2 stars (generously) for how great of an app it COULD be; if my issue were fixed it’d be 5 stars. The app showed its potential and was great until about halfway into the first lesson. My audio all registered fine at first, passed all their audio sync tests, no issues. Out of the blue it was no longer detecting that I was hitting notes. In the app when you fail a part of the song 3 times it sends you into a practice mode with a metronome. Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice feature when needed. HOWEVER, I didn’t need it making it SO FRUSTRATING to keep having to repeat this painfully slow practice mode. I even had my mom who has been playing piano for decades sit and try to play the simple song and it did the same thing! There is nothing I could do at this point; if you can’t pass the song you can’t move forward in the app. The funny thing was on the practice mode it registered all the notes just fine, then it would go back into the regular song and would glitch again. I had to delete the app and start using Yousician which is good but limits you to only 10 minutes per day unless you pay. I don’t like it as much as I did this app which is a shame. Hopefully, this can get fixed as I saw a few other people mention similar issues..Version: 7.0.2

DisharmonyThis app really shines for the first third or so of its courses. After that, things really begin to take a dive in quality as they lose sight of how to actually teach and prepare you for the piano. After a certain point, they stopped caring about lessons taking time to sink in. With song after song they skip over crucial steps: they introduce a part of the song to learn and then immediately move on, leaving me with absolutely no muscle memory as to what I should do. The last three songs they’ve introduced a treble section and then just assumed that I knew the song at this point. This was fine when the songs were easy, but with a difficult piece, it’s a demoralizing disaster. One thing this app does is it has a library of sheet music, which is excellent, but their actual course has gotten so bad that the sheet music has become a far better tool for learning and improving than the supposed ‘teaching’ part of the program. And if just plain sheet music is better than your course is at teaching the piano, you’ve got a problem. They need to go back through the songs that are in the course and slow down. They need to really *teach* you the right hand portion of the song, and the left, and then put them together. Until then, this app is an exciting entrance into learning the piano, ultimately followed by a disappointing exit from it..Version: 8.10.1

FrustratingAs a 60-something who had always wanted to play the piano, I decided to use lockdown to try to do just that. So I invested in a digital piano and Simply Piano. At first I thought the app was great, actually got me playing a few tunes but then the cracks started to show. There is a complete lack of theory - now what I want to do is play tunes, but you really do need some background to what you are doing. Secondly there is often a gap in the teaching. For example when moving on to hands in the e position, there is no instruction at all about how or when to combine c&e positions. But the thing I find most frustrating is the complete lack of flexibility in what you are playing. While each song has a practice section, I want to be able to choose to just play the top line, or just play the bottom line of the whole song but you can’t do that - if you try you just keep getting taken back to the start. Also I would like to be able to play a song though to the end, mistakes and all, and then go back to the beginning, not just be taken back a bar or two. Also if you get the timing wrong, it counts as a wrong note so you don’t know if you’ve hit the wrong note or just too soon or too late. It is just too inflexible, no customisation and I deep down don’t really think I’ve learnt anything. I’m in danger of not trying any more - the cover hasn’t come off my piano for a wee..Version: 8.2.13

Best Piano App, Needs A FixThis is the best piano learning app on the market, but the account section is completely broken and support assistance is lacking. App is worthy of 5 stars and I’ll change my review once the issues are fixed. To summarise the issue, the account fails to logout properly and will turn into an anonymous account if you logout on a device. Once the account becomes ‘anonymous’, you can’t log that account out because ‘anonymous’ does not exist in their system. You now have the only option of deleting and reinstalling the app, thus allowing you to login using the original email that you used or create a new account. This is also annoying if you have multiple devices logged into your one account. When my wife logged into my account on her phone, it wouldn’t show any of her progress on my device nor allow me to progress on my device until I deleted and reinstalled the app. We’ve gotten everything to work now, purely by deleting and reinstalling the app around 3 times each. But this definitely makes me worried about spending money on the premium version, when the account doesn’t properly work. Please fix this issue so that I can write a full 5 star review.Version: 7.1.5

Easily frustratingThis app is alright, it did teach me a few tricks. But I wouldn’t recommend this app to people who are easily frustrated (like me). If you make a few mistakes, it’s really easy to get frustrated as the app makes you start that part again and doesn’t tell you in where you went wrong so it’s hard to learn from your mistakes. Another thing is that when you’re doing a course and you take too long, in where I was just adjusting my iPad and piano to start, it gets really annoying when it says you did a note wrong. I think it should at least wait for you to start instead of judging you because you took too long to start. Also, once I did a heap of courses on this app, and when I next returned to play, my progress didn’t even save and I had to do it all over again and was so annoying. The songs that SimplyPiano provides is good, and teaches you tricks, but I feel like it could be improved more..Version: 8.6.3

Premium is too much and too oppressive, you better see thisI learnt to read notes on a sheet instantly but not other stuff because of PREMIUM. I can’t learn songs because of PREMIUM. People cannot learn properly if you have to pay like £84 a year. A music school is too expensive for some people, so why not remove premium so that people can ACTUALLY LEARN, instead of just suppressing all of the features so people can pay money for most of the game. It’s like paying money for a whole game, might as well just make the app cost money. IDEAS TO IMPROVE THE GAME:So instead of making people pay for an ENTIRE GAME, just put a small amount of ads for a reward. There should be coins to spend to unlock a lesson. To earn coins, you can practice songs. The harder the song, the more coins you get. The songs should be at your skill level and harder songs will be unlocked as you finish more lessons, until you get enough coins to unlock the last lesson. My mum won’t let me get premium and it’s not letting me learn more. A fortnight for a year? That can’t be real! The ads rewards should be either coins, gems or double coins for the day. The time for x2 coins can be stacked. A gem can be swapped for 500 coins. I hope you(DEVELOPERS)see what I have written so that learning piano won’t be limited, and people wouldn’t have to spend £100+ on piano lessons.I would have rated this game 5* but the premium just ruins it. From an annoyed 10 year old..Version: 8.2.9

Good but one issueWhen I finish the Beethoven song, it always says 2/3 it really annoys me because I feel excited that I’ve completed the whole course , it’s just that one that doesn’t want to let me pass and I’m only on 92% of the way to finish when I have passed the Beethoven song on the piano basics I’ve tried to do the song several more times but still the same result, when I finish I have to go through all of the start of the Beethoven basics/beginning again which wastes my time doing it again and again , my Yamaha disklavier is loud so I don’t think it’s anything to do with the sound! Please don’t take this as a hate review I really love the game very much it’s just I have that issue and would like to start the songs, I already can play piano I just use this as a little bit more help and it has helped and I want to move on from the basics just to challenge myself as I am on grade 5 Thanks, please reply and tell me what I could do if you read this -Ella By the way I have tried the app out on different pianos in my piano shop and I would recommend one Yamaha, bluthner and kawai as they got the best result although there is other ones that work but they had the best results! I really do not want to pay for the premium membership as I have to save up my money, please can you give me a different solution :).Version: 5.2.2

Simply Piano ReviewOk I am so sorry but I am not here to write a review. I am here to say can I get my money back immediately because now I have to pay my parents $175 or something. Give me my money back as I am not happy. This has helped me a lot but I don’t want to pay it. Like why do you have to take the money out immediately. Like why do you have to pay all at once. I was expecting to pay every month. Which is fine with me but ummm the whole thing right at once. So I expect to get my money back. If you didn’t take all the money right at once I would of gave you a good rating. Because this is a very good app that helped me a lot but the fact that you took the money. I am super mad and depressed. If you do give the money back I will make sure to give you a good review. But unfortunately you probably don’t care, which is selfish and horrible. So please give me my money back. Kind regards Hannah Sanderson.Version: 8.9.2

This app is not welcomed to everyone!!!!!!I started to use simply piano years ago because I really wanted to learn. It was easy to use and fun way easier and fun than using a book. I really loved it then you never had to pay for anything it was free for everyone to use. But a few weeks after that I didn't have piano anymore and I was devastated, until this Christmas I got a piano and I was super excited to redownload this amazing app and that's when I found out you have to pay and was super expensive and I knew for sure my mom wasn't going going to pay all that money and it would hurt me very much because I only get to use it for a week not even a month just a week that's why simply piano is for everyone because some people don't have all that money and it would be very hard for them because people have bills to pay and people giving their money away to this app are going to go broke for sure so I am really unhappy that this app has started to charge people when they never used to!.Version: 8.8.2

My traumatic time with simply pianoI started using Simply Piano in October last year and I chose it as I saw what it did in its ads. When I started using it’s it was alright. Later on, it became boring and kept correcting me even though I played the right note (it showed the one I was supposed to be pressing). I also got quite stressed when playing and struggled to want to play on my piano because of this app. My mom started playing after and used the app; she found the same problem when playing. After all that, in January I decided to take a break but keep using other apps. I would keep seeing the ads come up though. In May, I began using the app again because my friend bought it up and I became curious if the app had changed. I sat at the piano and opened the app. I remembered all the notes from the last time but decided to start fresh. It struck me the same anxiety and pain from before. I couldn’t go anymore. Is it me being me or is the app just not working. In my case though, I would not recommend it. It has ruined my hopes of trying piano..Version: 8.5.31

Listening problemsThe app told everyone it will listen to their piano but that doesn’t work. I played the right keys but it didnt want to register. I Had bigger expectations..Version: 7.0.5

Amazing App....But....This is an amazing app to learn the basics but you have to pay for premium to get most courses and sheet music. The premium price is way too high, it’s like $200 a year!! (there is monthly and weekly prices as well). If you want to learn the first 5 notes (C, D, E, F & G) then this is a great app for you but if you don’t want to pay $200 a year just so that you can play some more songs then it’s not worth it. You’re better off just getting real life lessons which cost way less. This is a good app though, so if you have the money to spend, it will be worth it. Can you please make the prices for premium cheaper, I think you will get a lot more customers which will give you more money, but $200 a month?? That’s way too much. Please change this to a more reasonable and affordable price if you can..Version: 8.2.5

Don’t be fooledOk so I got a piano for my birthday and wanted to learn so I got this app. I taught me all the notes and read basic music which at first was good. It also helped me with my posture and how to work my fingers. It first asked me what song to learn first so I picked perfect by Ed Sheeran. So I went through the steps but the on one stage which was the last one, which was to play the song, it said I had to pay and to do a 7 week trial or something but I heard when you say start trial it will automatically start steeling your money after the trial ends so I’m quite disappointed that it won’t let me play songs without paying and I really wanted to learn but this is no help at all. From my experience I would say don’t get the app it is a waste of time and the adverts only show people what paying looks like and it never shows you have to pay which is kinda annoying. So please only get the app if your willing to pay the makers..Version: 8.8.2

Great but...At the start you just get so happy that you can finally play piano! But then.. when you get so into it, like at the end its says play any song, like it says on the ads, but then you have to pay to play all the songs people love! At the start, the app is great and it really teaches you the first notes and it will teach beginners well, but every piano game that teaches you amazing songs, but then, at the end it’s just a let down, maybe some kids parents aren’t able to pay, or they just don’t want to, like me I’m unable to pay right now, and my piano teacher, at my school, has got COVID 19 and is unable to come in for a while, and all because of these lockdowns I am unable to go to out of school piano lessons, I know you don’t have to pay like every month, but it’s just for the people who can’t, I do understand why you have to pay for it because learning piano is a special thing, and simply piano is a very wonderful app, please don’t get annoyed at me for saying this, it’s just unfair for some people who can’t pay, and can’t go to piano lessons, I’m not actually this app is rubbish and its a really bad thing that you have to pay, because some people might think it’s OK, this is just me telling you my opinion about simply piano, but besides that, I think the app is terrific and can teach people piano really well :-). I hope you understand. :).Version: 8.5.5

Think before you get itAll they want to do is teach you a little bit so you want to keep going then they charge you... don't be fooled this app isn't even close to free.Version: 4.11.1

This game is so stupid!😩😡I just spent a while going through as many piano games as I could most of them said theyAre free but then they make you pay as soon as you start the game but simply piano it makes you think you can pay for this to get a premium access to a whole bunch of their stuff and then you can say you don’t want to in so it’ll start up the game like normal and then once you’re almost done with the basics it tells you you have to pay to get done with the rest of the game and it doesn’t even let you learn the rest. I feel like this game is just trying to Clickbait people into saying it’s free but you can pay if you want to and then it ends up being completely lying it makes me so mad and I kept on trying to play and my sound on my keyboard was almost turned all the way up and it kept on saying that I couldn’t pick up my sound because either the microphone wasn’t working or my keyboard was too quiet. So basically it’s a scam and it has bugs😡🤬and I’m just so glad that I didn’t have to pay for it and I deleted it before I actually got desperate. Because I’ve heard a lot of people spreading rumors saying that this takes your data and uses it for its own reasons so basically it’s taking your private information and stealing it but I’m pretty sure those things aren’t true so how about you just download the game and try it for yourself but don’t pay for it yet! Only do it if you’re 100% sure it’s worth it and there’s no other way you can learn.Version: 8.5.33

An unforgivable frustrationI really like this app. It has taught me a lot, and I think it is a great tool for learning. However, there is a major flaw that drives me insane every time i use it. No matter how quiet the room, how loud my keyboard is, or how on tempo I am, it constantly does not pick up some notes (mostly eighth notes—specifically if they are in a sequence of eighths). I’ve been playing music for a while, so I know my beats and tempos. I’ve tried everything from making sure the room is silent when I play to turning my keyboard up to the max (deafening) volume. It seems to help a little bit when my keyboard is very loud, but the problem still persists. It’s just so frustrating when I just need one more star, but I can’t get it because the app won’t pick up notes that I know I’ve played correctly. Also, I’ve noticed that some songs seem to be a little off. I understand them from a musical point of view, but it may trouble a new learner. They might not be able to hear the medley and play something different during the first few lessons. I was a little long winded, I apologize. The pros do outweigh the cons with this app—as long as you’re okay with listening to (honestly) bad singers. I’ve been able to learn a lot and it has helped me with playing with both hands. I’d give 3.75 stars. 4.5 if the note thing gets fixed..Version: 8.2.3

I’m rather confused.Do I have to buy premium? Or even to change the course? I did the start course and then I went to play the song at the end and it just came up with premium adds and when I pressed X to get rid of it it came up with a survey questioning why I didn’t want it. I really want to learn so if someone could answer that would be great. No disrespect to the app, it was going really well before this problem :).Version: 8.9.2

Good but why do you have to pay?The simply piano app is good, but why do you have to pay? I know that sounds like a dumb question but why? I don’t know why you have to pay to learn piano. For example you want to learn piano but you just can’t effort it every month or you just don’t know how to pay it. Like, if you just want to learn piano you can just make it free. It’s just that I think it’s better to make it free so more people can learn piano without paying. But, what I do like about simply piano is at the start, when you download the app you get this guide and then you start learning piano but, when your done doing the piano stuff or the touch screen piano you get this guide about you can pay or get a free trial but, I just don’t get why. Like, if you want to learn piano and you do all the piano stuff and you feel like your ready to move on but you don’t want to pay or have your credit car information on the app. If you don’t want to pay or have your credit card information on the app you can’t learn piano and your just stuck there repeating the same stuff that you learned on Simply piano. I don’t get why you have to pay. But, that’s why I don’t think you should pay just to learn piano. But, if you don’t agree with me I understand..Version: 8.2.4

OKWell one day I just download simple simply piano and I didn’t have a piano yet but I am going to take your lesson so I wanted to practice but then I wanted to do face screen and it literally just put me in Piano again every single time I tried again and again and again and again and again but nothing would you the press the thing so it’s always say sorry you cannot play it on you need to get the face and I was like I am on the face thing I don’t have a piano so then I didn’t know how to deal with so then I just rest we’re doing things with my mouth I was like dirt dirt dirt dirt and it didn’t work I said like why would I even have this app if it won’t work I tried to delete it and say maybe this might work better because I just had this too much so I just deleted it and made it like refresh and I pressed I do not have a piano and it I press the keyboard I don’t have a keyboard and I said no but it still said oh sorry it says you are I want to compressing the keyboard you can’t play this you have to get a big screen so what’s going on with it I am definitely deleting us so I think you need to make an adjustment for her to stop doing that because it always happens to me and also a glitch so yeah I really want you to fix this because I really want to traceable piano with the thing please and thank you if any of you can reply to me.Version: 8.9.6
