✓ Google NewsThis app has worked perfectly for me until last week when Google News has seized control of my searches listed under “Donald Trump”. The app still shows that is collecting items on Mr Trump, but clicking on an item takes me to a frozen Google News page which doesn’t include items on the subject I’m looking for. Perhaps the developer can check to see what is going on and I can give the app, the Stars it deserves. I’m pleased that the developer has looked into my problem. It appears to be a problem with Google news. The developer has provided me with a way to overcome it. Full marks with a speedy reply, I will reinstate the five stars..Version: 1.8.9
✓ One of The Best RSS ReadersNews Explorer is a highly capable RSS reeder that utilizes iCloud sync and supports RSS, ATOM, JSON, and Twitter feeds. The application is responsive and looks good on all the supported platforms. Sync is pretty quick, though doesn’t offer the performance some competitors do by allowing a single instance to do the RSS fetching while the others just sync with iCloud. Article display is great with a variety of typography options to tweak it to your preference, while alternative views such as slideshows and a “timeline” view are nice additions. The app feels at home on iOS devices and has continued to get a bit quicker, more stable, and pleasant to use over time. One notable omission for a modern iOS app is shortcut support. I’d love to see the ability to use Shortcuts to filter articles by folder/feed/status and be able to do things like get their title, URL, and mark/unmark them as read. All in all, News Explorer is a really solid RSS app that’s available across all the Apple platforms. I’m not sure if it’s “the best” at any one aspect, but it’s easily one of the best contenders as an all-around RSS feed reader..Version: 1.11.2
✓ Absolutely worth the priceI tried a couple of RSS readers and settled on this one. It took me a bit to configure the app to my liking, but after you get it set up it just works. The interface is customizable, articles are comfortable to read, and there’s no subscription. Your data just syncs with iCloud. The watch app is greatly appreciated too, it can show full article text and works well. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten more value out of an app, I use it every day and don’t regret it.Version: 1.10.2

✓ Great RSS Reader, But How About Automatic Full TextDefinitely the best RSS client I’ve used. But can we please get automatic full text for articles? lire, another RSS application does this and it works well and without any user interaction. Whereas with News Explorer, you have to open the article and then click the icon in the toolbar. If this could be an option, that would be great thanks. ✓ The Best, By A Long, Long WayIve used many a reader, some really good, some not. But all of them annoyed me in one way or another. Not This one. (If you don’t want to read whole review, just buy the app, you won’t regret it). I was using Feedly with Reeder, pretty good, pretty annoying also. Now Feedly are asking for a subscription to add more feeds, not a chance. The app’s not good enough anyway, but now you want me to pay money to use something that annoys me?!? Nope. When I first saw this app, with the price tag, it put me off (why pay when so many free options?!). But I was getting so fed up with the others, I thought I’d give it a shot. And that’s when I realised why I’m paying, you pay for what you get & It’s worth every penny. I love it. Really easy (and nice) to use, looks great & you can customise the look to suit your taste. It seems quite simple at first glance, but simple and effective is always the best combo, and the developers absolutely nailed it (congrats!). Adding new feeds, reading, favouriting and sharing articles. So simple and genuinely enjoyable to use. I’ve already recommended this app to quite a few people and will continue to do so! It’s so good that I’ll be purchasing the desktop application also, which is more expensive than the mobile, but it’s worth it to me for 2 reasons....the developers deserve to be paid & I want the same ease of use on my laptop!! The only thing I don’t like about it, is the app icon!! For such a lovely app, the icon just doesn’t do it justice! Please make a nicer one devs!! Easy 5*. ✓ Excellent news readerThis app is pretty much the perfect news reader for me, I use it daily on iPad and iPhone. ✓ Great non-server solution for RSS readingThe reading experience of the app is quite good, but it is let down by an unreliable and opaque sync system. It seems I can never get this iOS version to accurately sync article status with the Mac version. I hope some further refinement will improve this, as this app seems the best option for getting away from a subscription-based server-side solution. *UPDATE*: Based on developer response and improved subsequent performance I have upgraded my rating. It comes down to personal preference on what works for you. ✓ Excellent standalone RSS feed readerI was using the equally brilliant "Unread" app for RSS feed reading together with a Feedbin account for the syncing. But paying a subscription for Feedbin when I’m already paying for iCloud storage seems like a waste of money. Google searches for iCloud-enabled RSS readers eventually turned up this app, so I took a chance and bought it. I’m glad to report that it works very well and sync works perfectly. The reading experience is very good and has all the features I typically look for. I promptly cancelled Feedbin and feel confident that this app will meet my needs just as well, for a fraction of the cost. The iPad Pro and iPhone are my main computers so I don’t need the Mac app at the moment but if you do, it’s apparently excellent as well..Version: 1.8.2

Structured list reading however *you* want to set it up. ✓ Great appBut give me the option to set swipes. You have to swipe a bit, then tap on “More” then tap “Mark as Unread”. I just want to swipe as unread! 5 stars when swipe actions can be changed. ✓ I like itTrying to get back into the rss news scene. This app is great. I would like to see custom filters and an over all search box or screen. I think custom filters could be cool to categorize stories by a topic since rss is not a controlled environment like Apple News for example. If I could add a bunch sources and have it only keep or fetch stories containing certain words in the title or article then that would alleviate then need to find rss feeds pertaining to only one item of a subject. Like filtering only stories with “Walking Dead” but having several different sources to find stories about said subject..Version: 1.9.10

✓ Almost PerfectGreat RSS reader. It does everything I want it to and more. I bought it for the iCloud sync, which works great. I was fed up with either paying for a syncing service or giving away my data to the likes of Feedly. Think about it. With a list of the feeds you subscribe to and which articles you save and star, they can build a pretty good profile to sell your data to advertisers and who knows what else. With News Reader you don’t need any third parties collecting your data. It’s all within iCloud. The only thing I don’t like, and as petty as it sounds, it does drive me a bit insane, is that the app icon is horrendous. Seriously, get a good designer to create something nice. ✓ Fantastic piece of software. Could it look better?Having been an avid RSS user since forever I’ve tried a lot of different software but had been stuck on Reeder the last few years. Then on attempting to do some newsreading on my Apple Watch I came across News Explorer and ponied up. It gets 5 stars for flexibility - you can read on your Apple Watch and Apple TV! And there are lots of pleasing customisation options. But visually it doesn’t seem as well designed as Reeder. And I wish I could customise the font used in the main UI listing screens (you can in the actual articles). Or at least there should be some options as to weight of text. At moment it’s very heavy looking, which makes it feel a bit old fashioned. With a bit of a design spruce this would be the RSS king..Version: 1.9.17

It doesn’t require you to create an account, has no subscription fees, and syncs/works across all your iOS and macOS devices. ✓ Finally. This is it.Wow. Finally. I'm a UI snob. I've used RSS since it was developed. I've used the iPad since is was introduced, and instantly I realized it was the perfect RSS reading device. And now, after all this time, I've finally found an app that meets my expectations. I wanted something that uses as much core Apple technologies and UI style as possible. I wanted flexible themes text sizes. I didn't want the UI to be "unique". The best design is "invisible" meaning you don’t notice it because you're fully engaged with your task, and it's not getting in your way. This is it. It's not without fault. Putting feeds in folders is a total pain. But that's something you do rarely. I'm giving it a pass and 5 stars because it is much better than the competition, and allowed me to drop an aggregator subscription. I even had an excellent interaction with support (the dev himself) when I couldn't figure out my OPML file. He showed me what I was doing wrong. Bravo..Version: 1.8.9

The last version however removed the refresh button from the lower right when in the Unread Items screen. Yes, there is resync on the left but I do not want to resync, I just want to refresh my unread list easily to determine if there are any unread left. ✓ Love this appI have been using various RSS readers for many many years at this point using aggregators like feedly after google shut their RSS service down. I have been using the Reeder app for iOS and Mac for the most part (also excellent) but I moved everything over to this app. I love that it illuminates the dependency on feedly, end it works seamlessly and like butter across all of my iOS devices. Meanwhile the RSS reader features are great as well including the various ways to mark articles as read Amongst all the other configuration options. I am looking forward to a little bit more functionality on the watch app as I like to use that when I’m waiting in line at a store or at a stoplight or whatever. Nice job developers.Version: 1.8.14
