✓ Great game but I keep getting disconnected!I've updated my version 3 times now (as suggested by tech support) but I still have issues with being disconnected mid game - and often when I'm doing well! Gaahhhh! Is this a connectivity issue on my end (I do live in NZ) or is it a bug? Either way it's annoying as hell and it wasn't a cheap game to buy! ✓ DisappointingI don’t often write reviews for games but wanted potential buyers to be aware. The game is a lot of fun. Quirky humour and some very good sound effects. It only gets 2 stars from me though due to a very significant bug. For reasons unknown to me I often get disconnected. This happens whether I’m playing over Wi-Fi or 4G. Googling this issue I see that other users have experienced similar issues too. It’s disappointing as the games are fun. Just so frustrating when your about to win and a random disconnect happens. ✓ Wow! Awso- wait what?When I saw this here I was ecstatic because I have the card game and I thought the rule would be the same. However, many of the cards are messed up. Such as the cat cards. In the physical game, you are supposed to get two and then you put down the two to get a random card. But instead, in the app, you need 1 card and it acts as a favor card in the physical meaning that you get a card they choose. When I first got an exploding kitten, I noticed something that made me a little sad. The exploding kitten cards in the physical game have these little drawings with references and jokes on them. But in the app its just a kitten with dynamite. Lastly the addition of nope cards aren’t here. These cards, if you had them, were pretty much god in a sense that if you put down one, you can reject an action such as if someone were attacking you they just take their turn and you have a normal turn. But because of the exclusion of these cards, we lost a layer of complexity. You see, nope cards can be noped as well, meaning that if someone puts down a nope card toward your action, you can just put a nope card yourself so that the action continues. These cards can make some funny moments in which it is just two players going back and forth just playing nope cards. But, these changes don’t completely ruin the game. You can still have fun with this modified deck. It is still a fun game to play..Version: 4.0.1

✓ UpdatesYes I know, this game is quite small but all I want or more updates for the game, it's almost been a year now and there have been no updates. Maybe add the expansion Imploding Kittens and maybe a new game mode and the game will start to gain more attention... ✓ So Close to GreatnessGood: This game is a faster paced and shorter alternative to the real thing, which we appreciate it. Beautiful sound and visual design. Great UX. Bad: Unfortunately, it’s designed to be a cash grab. You purchase the app, then you get one card deck. From that point forward you have to pay an additional $2 for each deck (totaling $8) and also pay for avatars (only 2 of which you can earn on merit). That’s lame, petty and a huge letdown IMO. On principle alone, for that reason I refuse to purchase anything additional. I’m sure they’ll claim it’s an accessibility issue this way you can decide how much you want to invest in the game blah blah blah. Ugly: It’s missing an achievement or ranking system which discourages progress. I think this would be the next thing to add if I had to choose anything. Lastly, I wish there was chat function that censored “bad” words. Even though the voiceovers are high quality, it gets kinda tired quick. I could see this being an epic game in the future! ✓ Great game but everyone has to be online at same time!!!Exploding kittens is amazing and this app is easy to use with new hilarious cards. The big problem is if you are playing with friends everyone has to be on there at the same time. If you close the app then it will cancel the game. So this severely limits how much this game can be used among friends (which is probably who you want to play with). What would be great would be if there was the option in games for no timer to exist so that for instance i could make a turn and then my friend could take a turn a hour later when he had time. This would greatly improve the app and would be a small tweak!!!.Version: 3.1.9

✓ Bugs need sorting and gameplay mechanics need improvingThis game has always been a bit temperamental when trying to play online. Often it will crash out at the start. However, recently it seems as though a host of new bugs have been introduced. A couple of examples. I’ve had cards getting stuck at the bottom of the screen and its not possible to play them; also, quite often im unable to take my turn and forced to quit. These bugs really need ironing out. As the title says, there is also the issue of the gameplay itself. This is a fun game to play when first starting out, but after playing for a while with the latest expansion, its becomes apparent how broken some of the mechanics are. The key problem is that if you have one bit of bad luck at the start of a game, your chances of being able to win are massively reduced. There needs to be a way of better allowing players to get back into the game instead of rage quitting. The “blind” card in particular really needs a rethink. Combined with “steal” cards, it ruins the start of games. Its too easy to smack the blind card on someone and steal a card, and then the next 3 players all steal cards too. There is no real way to become competitive again and 50% of the time people rage quit..Version: 4.0.6

✓ Game breaking bugExperiencing an issue with my skip cards against Kitt-e, where 4 out of 9 games I have played the several (but not all) of my skip cards would do nothing. ✓ Fun but.....This game is fun BUT a lot of people who play it seem to be spoil sports- if they are not obviously well in the lead they just leave the game, which is annoying & what they don't seem to realise is that fortunes can change- sometimes it looks like you're going to lose but something happens to turn things around- a strong looking player explodes etc- & you come back! That's what makes the game fun. When people just leave & don't play the game out because things aren't going their way, it's no fun for anyone, they're not being good sports at all. I understand that sometimes when people leave the game, it has nothing to do with the game & is due to something or other in the real world but it's obvious to me that a lot of people do it because they don't like how the game is going for them- it's a virtual version of tossing the game board over & storming off- very immature!! I think it would be cool if there were away for the app to take over playing the hands of people who 'leave the game' so that the people who stayed can finish the hand..Version: 3.3.1

✓ Got bored pretty easilyHey there. I got this game when I first got my iPad and it was really fun at first. But once I realised I was mostly playing against bots, the single player mode was a bit rigged and that I had to pay to make the deck more exciting or get new avatars, it just seemed like a waste of iPad storage and money. You’d atleast expect a game that already costs money to have free accessories and stuff like that, but apparently not. I have actually gotten the real game and throw throw burrito and they’re a lot more exciting compared to this game. I wish there were more options to make it more of an exciting thing, but for now I’ll give it three stars until something comes up that’s worth playing it again.Version: 5.3.6

✓ Best card games everI got this game today, both the real card game and digital game. My ipad always glitches when ever I enter a new game cause me to have to restart the game. It gets annoying after a few times but I could only blame my ipad. I just advise that anyone with and old apple product to be warned that glitches will occur. Also as a side note, the exploding kitten cards never end were you put them. I put an exploding kitten card at the "bottom" of the deck of 23 cards and yet when it came to my round in a game of 3 people I somehow got the exploding kitten again. How does that work????? Over all those are the only problems i have faced so far..Version: 3.1.9
✓ Great but could be betterThe game is brilliant. It’s simple and yet complex. The only issues I have is the hosting is terrible. Took me 6 goes before I could finally complete an online game without being booted out. Also the offline without internet mode doesn’t work. Won’t let anyone connect to my game. ✓ Not worth your timeI will be completely honest with you, I love the card version of exploding kittens. The rules are well done in that version and I’m not getting annoyed as heck. This version on the other hand is nothing like it and a complete waste of time. First off, I want to be able to pick the amount of people I want to play with, not be forced to almost always play with 5. Second, the amount of cards in the deck is way to low, meaning your much more likely to get the exploding kitten. 27 cards for 5 people is insane, not to mention 4 of them are exploding cats. Finally I hate how they have removed cards like nopes, attacks, and pairs of the special cards. This version is frustrating and a pain. The card game is a 10/10, while this one only gets a 4/10. I highly recommend the card game, but not this failure of the card game..Version: 4.0.2
✓ Great game ruined by cheatsAwesome game. Unfortunately it’s becoming increasingly obvious that some players are cheating. They seem to know exactly where the exploding kittens are at all times. ✓ Cannot choose nameWhat happened to choosing your name. I didn’t have an offensive name and now there is no way to recognise people you’ve played against before. One star - STOP TAKING THE FUN AWAY. Written to customer service twice and been fobbed off. They have silenced my name choice and ability to use speech bubbles and the only reason I knew was because I was playing against a friend in local co-op and could see on their screen that I’ve been edited into “muffin” etc. Be aware everyone, Kittens is censoring behind your back and you’ll never know if you never play local co-op and be able to see someone else’s screen who you are playing against. ✓ Decent game.This game is awesome, really good game but I just have some things to say. 1. I’ve tested it so many times and now I know that single player is a tiny bit rigged. On the last level of single player I used a Mantis Shrimp card to see the future and the next card was a exploding kitten. I used a skip and it was the bots turn. The bot didn’t use a shuffle, skip or draw from bottom the bot just picked up the card. and somehow it wasnt a exploding kitten and that happened multiple times. 2. Theres wayy too little cards. If there were more cards it would make the game double the fun. Like maybe theres two gamemodes. One would be called Quick Play which has not that many cards and there would be another gamemode called Long Game which would have ALOT of cards. 3. There should be a Pass N’ Play mode, It would be really good for parties because not everybody has this game, and make it free because if you make it cost money that just defeats the purpose.Version: 4.0.2

✓ Not properly ported for the iPhone XThe screen is awkwardly zoomed in for some reason. The bottom and the top are cut off a bit and just looks really bad. On top of that, scene the bottom is cut off it makes playing card more difficult. It’s fine for the most part but when someone plays a steal a car against you the cat paw in conjunction with the screen being zoomed in create a section of your hand where you can’t play a card. Again, it’s still works for the most part, it’s needlessly annoying, but you can slide you hand to get to a card that’s blocked if it’s small enough. If your hand is too big however, there will be a car or two that the game will refuse to let you give to the other player. I didn’t pay money to get a poorly ported mess..Version: 4.0.0
✓ Fun but base game shouldn’t be paywareThis is a great game don’t get me wrong, a lot of fun and mostly kid-friendly. But the base game only gives you access to so many avatars and only the classic deck of cards. There’s no stat tracking nor “boss” modes/goals to obtain more; they want you to pay for everything new. I’ve seen many other games where the base game was freeware, has at least some form of stat tracking, and has hard (but obtainable) ways to advance and/or get extra. I realize it gets rid of ads completely, but it gets old after having only one deck and the same 6 or 7 avatars to choose from with nothing to show for it (like a W-L record, etc). I’m not unhappy with my purchase but I would be happier if it had been free because it’s not quality enough on its own to pay for. ✓ Multi player Aggro, Single-player annoyed yawn.Although ingenious in design, and with a potential for charming gameplay, some distinct drawbacks plague this app. The multiplayer environment has become awash with extremely aggressive players. While not the developer’s fault, they have nonetheless allowed the problem to worsen. Players cannot disable haptics, so ‘nagging’ seems to be perpetual, and limitless. This detracts mightily from the appeal of the multiplayer experience. The servers rarely provide a full table of players for the premium content. Single player mode provides a weakly-imagined AI deployed with somewhat unabashed ‘Blue Turtle Shell’ logic. The AI plays the best card even when ‘blinded’ with implausible regularity. This makes winning more a function of luck than skill. With no stats other than win/loss, the single player game feels watery already, and the lack of AI multiplayer channels this sensation into a canal of low-stakes confrontation. There are many good points to this game, and the IRL version is brilliant, but quality-of-experience has declined and should be addressed..Version: 5.3.6
✓ Good game but.......This is honestly a good game but me and my friend are experiencing an issue we think should be dealt with The expert level that you play with yourself is extremely difficult and we think they could also be cheating because the clawboard 3000 apparently knows what cards are underneath each other and always has good cards and to me and my friend we I think this is either a glitch or you guys really just don’t want us to win because right now we’re having a really hard time trying to win and we lose all the time we have about 21 losses and more if you put them together so yes we think that the expert level they you play with yourself should be hard but it shouldn’t be extremely hard to where you lose like 100 times because for me my friend is being really frustrating and we can’t really fix it so I was hoping that if I leave this review you guys might be able to change that a bit because me and my friend get really annoyed with this problem so please if you could fix it I strongly suggest you do because we’re having a really hard time and it gets really annoying and I’m sure other people are experiencing the same thing to..Version: 4.0.1
✓ Fun But buggedAfter playing the physical game at Christmas we decided to have some fun online with the family now we are all back home. When playing against strangers there seems to be an issue with the cards positioning. For example if I where to put an exploding kitten on the top, the next player would in theory pick that up. Instead they manage to pick up a card and not get the exploding kitten, doing so without any kind of cards being laid down. Another example is see the future, I have moments ago been in a game where I have looked at the top three cards, the second being a exploding kitten, the second player picks up a card and it shockingly isn’t a kitten. If the bugs where fixed this would be a 5 star game!.Version: 4.0.0
✓ Fun, quick game but cheat codes ruin the funI started playing this game in the pandemic and it’s a great way to waste some time, but recently there are some cheat codes that mess up the way cards are distributed and it really takes the spark, surprise and fun out of the game. ✓ PoorMe, my wife, brother and my parents all bought this game so we could play together during lock down, during quarantine. We all paid for it separately £1.99 each, which was initially fine as were happy to pay because we love the card game. However, when hosting a game, there in no option to remove the turn timer, meaning all players must take their go very quickly! We were intending to enjoy this game over a video call and play together in the same way as we do with the cards themselves. ✓ Awesome game BUT...You know for a game that you have to pay for you would think that there wouldn’t be so many disconnected games... But this game will usually kick you out of at least 1 game a day if you play multiple games a day( and that’s being generous). I don’t understand how this issue can’t be fixed more adequately; maybe some of the disconnections are from our(players/customers) but it happens an awful lot for me in this game in particular, compared to other similar games I have. PLEASE FIX ISSUES! It’s ridiculous that your customers are constantly booted out of games right In the middle of their game. But besides that BIG issue; the game itself is fun as can be and very addicting. If it was for all the glitching this game would easily be 5 stars..Version: 4.0.2
