✓ Chaotic and poorly managedAs a game this has great potential and I've happily played several thousand matches over the last few months. However the devs have absolutely no sense about how to manage a community or engage their player base. Since launching guild rivalries they've delivered one ill considered knee jerk rule change after another, penalising players for contravening rules that have been retrospectively introduced. I have no confidence my time and money spent playing the game will be respected or rewarded. To the contrary, they've left me wondering whether to continue to play as I now fully expect anything fairly earned to be taken away without warning..Version: 2.5.16358

✓ Game is fun but player matching is unfairWould of got 5 stars but the player/team matching is all over the place, it’s doesn’t seem to match team fairly based on player rank. Some games you can do pretty much nothing and win easily, then the next game you actually try but are killed within seconds of starting due to the other team being way over powered in rank and weapons. ✓ Clunky MechanicsGoing to be honest, probably didn’t put as much time into this as I should I have but it’s purely based off of how klunky and terrible the controls are on this game, I swear every time I’m trying to look in a different direction I shoot a bullet then see an enemy ship and have to wait. I’ve never seen such bad controls on a mobile game. One thing the developers could do is make the firing button the same button u choose which weapon you want. I’m used to games allowing me to shoot that way but on here I just sit there and look at the corners of the screen trying to figure out how I just rotated my ship without moving forward. I would give this game a much better try if it wasn’t for that. I get it is too far in to change that but they can at least make the circle for firing smaller so I don’t click the fire button every single time I’m looking for a ship.Version: 3.1.19930

✓ Worst shooter EVERYou move slowly, your boat is near-uncontrollable, it's hard to shoot, you're expected to not shoot from cover unless you're a mortar (and even then there's a chance your bullets will hit the roof of the map, because EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN'T SEE THE ROOF you're expected to JUST KNOW there's a roof there. Good call, whoever thought that up!) The game will punish you for trying to strafe, and as soon as you do manage it, you won't be able to pull out of it without double tapping the screen. Oh, and did I mention in order to do that you'll have to stop moving and shooting entirely? And did I also mention that you'll have to do this *out in the open*, where the enemy is actively trying to kill you? You know, for a game that revolves around NOT GETTING SHOT, they REALLY want you to get shot a lot, don't they? The game doesn't even put any emphasis on teamwork. You can't order retreats in chat, you can't issue orders to specific players - long story short, no tactical positions! Everyone just charges at each other and the people with the higher numbers win. Oh, sure, you get to choose your weapons, like using mortar against slow ships and cannon against speeders, but don't expect to get any fun out of it. If they have a rarer weapon than you, or they're lucky enough to get a Fixer on their team, then they are hands down going to win. In short: terrible controls, little to no depth, gameplay that punishes you for trying not to get shot, matches that only come down to a rock-paper-scissors gear check. ✓ Good game but battles are lopsidedGood game but battles are lopsided due to the infamy system they use to put people together. First you can literally start the game and have a couple good fights and get thrown in a battle with someone who has a ship 3xs better then you and guns that can one shot you because they lost enough infamy to get pushed back. They need to set it that there's a cap on how far you can be pushed back based on your ship so new people aren't discouraged by being slaughtered. Second they need to give you more ways to get captain experience other then trough training. This would also fix the first issue with low levels getting stuck with high players. Third half their weapons are bombardments such as mortars and grenade launchers yet half the maps have roofs that block them. How about letting us pick the map we want or giving us a chance to chance our for straight line or torpedoes before the match starts. ✓ Good game but...I think and still think that this game is just great but the matchmaking I feel is just very unbalanced for the people who have lower infamy. For example, I was playing a ranked match with 166 infamy but was paired up against people with 223 infamy and epic items and even my teammates had less than me with the lowest being 23 so please fix this. ✓ Nice idea but doesn’t workI’ve played to this game since the beginning, after a while in a good way, something went wrong in the match making, all the matches I had were unfair, all the players in my matches were twice stronger than me. After some months, I’ve deleted the game. I’m just back into the game after more than a year, it seemed a bit better, but I’m still having all my matches with players with a gear score 2 times mine, all weapons at level 5 and I barely have level 3, so they are stronger and faster than me. Rovio doesn’t let me reset my account, I would be happy to start it all over again....if I could.....I think the developers are just pushing to buy more gears with real money, as I can’t upgrade my weapons any more just playing the game....it’s just sad to get a nice game like this, pulled down by these wrong match making. ✓ Used to be great....I’ve played this game for about 2 years, and it used to be 5star. Through updates the game has gone downhill. Balancing out different perks to make all the boats maneuver better is one. Turning into a game that is really driving you to spend money to get to the upper levels and to buy the 2 new boats. I’m a level 47 and all 5 of my boats are level 47 too. That took quite a lot of upgrading. I’ve unlocked 2 legendary weapons in the first year and can’t even sniff legendary/epic loot now to unlock more. That’s where they get you to try and spend money. The game has turned into one of those that is all about trying to make you spend money instead of a good game. Same with guild play. We win quite a bit as a team so you earn coins for prizes. They “randomly” pick from 12 boxes and it used to be you could get good stuff from this hence working hard as a team to earn the coins. Now it is very very rare to get anything that would be wanted from this. This was one of the best ways to earn pearls and pieces to upgrade weapons. Now it’s all basic basic weapon perks and very small parts you win. You can see the good things to win but they just aren’t ever “randomly” selected. This game used to be the best game I’ve ever played on mobile and I’ve played a lot of good games and been very successful at. But they’ve ruined it. ✓ BadI first thought when I found out about this game that it was fun, healthy (no swearing etc.), and the best I've ever seen. Firstly, the matchmaking system is terrible terrible terrible! It pairs me with floaters, kamikaze shooters, and puts our team against a team of overpowered players with full mk5 legendary items even in master league! Secondly, the devs almost never read suggestions or comments in the forums. Thirdly, the update is just a proof that Rovio wants money, releasing mk7s it already took five years (not spending money) to reach mk6 and it only takes a few days for paid players and you expect me to pay to get mk7 because it'll take another year at least. ✓ This game is dreadful and good at same timeBattle bay is a very good game sometimes but sometimes on my iPad it keeps saying there’s no internet when there is so I keep deleting game and turning my iPad off completely or sometimes I swipe all my games up bye double tapping home button or checking if internet’s on and linked and working and going to my iPad . But they don’t work not even one so it’s really annoying . I recommend this to all people who play game it might be laggy or it might not even connect to game . ✓ Shame on the devsI played this game back in the day when it was actually a good game , at the time it was a five star imo , but now the game is just straight up Trash. Why do I say that you might inquire? It lies solely on the devs shoulders it is completely their fault this game has went from hero to zero , they are lazy and useless and honestly if they did not care to maintain the game, and periodically update the game as they should , and at least give their players the respect they deserve instead of just letting the game and it’s integrity dissolve , then they should hand the controls over to somebody who will..that’s just straight up negligence , and they should be highly ashamed and embarrassed. ✓ RiggedI had this game for quite a while and dedicated a lot of time to it, I was sitting around 1600 infamy but my brother and I started to notice that the matchmaking just felt rigged, I’m not a sore loser but when you get in with a team that has two people floating in the back(disconnected or whatever)and your other team mates can’t hit the broad side of a barn, but the enemy team are all hitting dead on with every shot, it gets frustrating. Or when you get in a match where the entire enemy team has nothing but mortars and your whole team just has cannons. I started to feel that the game was rigged to keep you from advancing too much too quickly and began looking at other people’s win to game ratio and noticed that even the #1 player in the world is sitting just barely above 50%, nearly every player you look at their profile and they’re right close to 50% wins to games played, this tells me it’s rigged. Coincidence? I don’t think so. If it’s not rigged then why do they not allow you to team up with more than one other person?(they may have changed this since I deleted the app). I believe they don’t want you getting in with your friends who are all good players and winning too much, the game wants to keep you at 50% wins to keep you invested in the game enough to keep playing and paying into it to try and get getting stuff. ✓ MSo once again I am convinced that the game has a double standard I have been playing for 5-6 years there is still no legendary tool level 30 and whatever I do does not give me legendary parts apart from that I wonder how certain people play supposedly random but not so it is impossible to play in a team without any legendary cannon and the opponent to have 4 players with 40-50 legendary levels so the pleasure of the game is killed but this is not enough since I have to do a certain dmg but it is also removed and how and why these players are tolerated most do not have battles but have 5000 info and how long.Version: 4.8.1
✓ Great Game but matches often unbalancedGame is fun, diverse, and challenging. The major issue is how poorly balanced the matches are arranged. The game tries to match similar scores, but what that fails to capture is there is a big jump in armor, hit points, and number of weapons a higher level craft can field compared to a lower level craft. A higher level craft usually has more firepower and can shoot much more frequently as a result. This doesn't even begin to factor in the Captain levels which dictates what passive perks that Captain has behind the scenes. All these factors lead to very unbalanced games. Games where one team has hundreds to thousands of more hit points and weapons on the field than the other team. Been on both sides. Prefer to win or lose an even match to an uneven one. Hopefully they fix this. EDIT: Been a year and teams are still vastly unbalanced. They balance by score rather than by ship level when it should be the other way around. I enjoyed playing events that are provided. Its so fun. I can play with my friends and chill out. My favourite ship is Reaper, which has almost all abilities the other ships have. Ive been playing the events tons of times and i cannot get 3k parts once, which is very sad. I guarantee that ive tried so hard to get it. ✓ Awful MatchmakingI’ve Been playing for a couple of days now and am really enjoying the game, however I’m starting to enjoy it less as a result of the absolutely shocking matchmaking system. I’m only level 9 but my infamy is over 900, meaning even though I’m only playing in Mark 1 ships I’m playing against Mark 4’s and 5’s. I can’t deal any kind of reasonable damage and get almost one hit KO’d by the enemy team due to their amazing weapons and my relatively low health. Because of this I’m struggling to find ‘motivation’ to play the game, as I know that when I press the battle button I’ll be thrown into a game with people who vastly out-power me. ✓ Awful!!I have been playing this game since it appeared in the App store, I love it but they have been making it worst with every update they release. Is it so difficult to match teams with similar gear score instead of ship level?( if that’s how match making works really because with every update it gets confusing and wrong, experience wise) or what is the purpose of infamy when in a battle you face opponents with a variety of inf from 800 to 5k. So random The idea is great and it used to be an amazing game but it feels like rovio recently rewards players who spend hundreds of pounds to evolve their equipment (which is a long long process otherwise) and doesn’t care for the rest. ( in-app purchases are super expensive for what you get). Plus what is the purpose of VIP when it doesn’t really offer much. I found that in any attempt to log into the game would fail. I could not "connect to servers" it said. ✓ Rubbish customer serviceThe game, when it actually works, is excellent except for total rubbish match making of course but the level of customer service the company shows is dreadful. Firstly the bring in new rules and retrospectively apply the rules banning players who until then didn’t even know they were breaking rules(which at the time they weren’t). Next after last major update many bugs crept into game but the lag/disconnection issues haven’t been sorted after a month and the company will not even admit they exist even though many complaints on forums about them. Seems at their company as long as money rolls in they don’t care in any way at all about the customer experience or complaints!!! Now we’re limited to 8 games per day unless we play ranked which is unfair due to everyone who has intentionally lowered infamy. And ranked battles won’t even start after waiting for several minutes because no one is playing. Brilliant decisions by Rovio have killed this game. No point anymore. I’ve played every single day for over 5 years. Missed my first day and ruined my streak a month ago because I just didn’t care anymore. Played a bit since. Bored again and mostly just out of matches. The events are ok but never actually as good for gameplay as a real match. Honestly the quality of the game started dropping when casual was introduced in the first place. ✓ Great PotentialHello, Rovio. You have created a very entertaining naval combat game with a fun battle system and a very fair free-to-play aspect. This has great potential. However, there are two underlying issues. First, not all weapons are equal. Cannons remain perpetually effective, with mortars, mines and incendiaries being situational and weapons such as carronades being next to useless. The second problem, which is the main reason for this and the cause of the 3-star rating, is the matchmaking. The issue is by basing the system solely off of infamy, there are massive discrepancies in weapon quality and ship models. As a Mark II player floating around 240 infamy (due to this matchmaking), I almost always face teams with Mark IIIs and often see Mark Is present as well. I am no game designer, but the matchmaking needs to be based off of something not as non-indicative of a player's skill and equipment as infamy, of which there isn't even a reason for powerful players not to drop in as there is no reward for high infamy except harder matches. ✓ Horrendous Support - decent gameThe title says it all. I played this game for over a year, spent a decent amount of money and time, lead a clan, and was competing in the highest level of play the game has to offer. TLDR, not worth it. Play a different game. The game makes it very hard to compete without having the best weapons ranked up all the way. It’s also always had balance problems with weapons and ships. The dev team is nonexistent at this point, so don’t expect much new content. I’ve also had my account locked for every a year now. I’ve contacted support and they told me to try a new internet connection, even after I’ve explained the 5 different internet sources I’ve tried. I’ve also tried multiple devices. I spoke with support for over a month and only received extremely generic answers that never helped me to get my account back. If you need help, don’t expect to get it..Version: 5.0.0

✓ Really Fun, but one thing’s missing.I love the gameplay, tactics, strategy, all of it really, but when it comes to guilds there’s one improvement to be made. There should be the rank of Co Lead in guilds. I’m a big time gamer so I know my hierarchy systems pretty well. Battle Bay really needs the rank Co Lead for guilds. The hierarchy should go like this: Leader -> Co Leader(s)-> Officer(s) -> Members. A 4 Rank system is more common amongst games. I’m not quite sure why Battle Bay is using a 3 rank system. I also wouldn’t mind it if guild vs guild competitions were optional and could be started by Co+ (Right now Officers+). So to make things easier, just changing Officers to Co and adding in a rank below that called Elders isn’t too hard. I’d really like to see these improvements in the upcoming updates. In the intensity of the game it is frustrating that not only you loose responsiveness of the ship and cannot regain control in time. Need direction control area to be bigger and customisable. ✓ Typical mid-tier gameThe good: Love the movement controls....if you’ve ever driven a boat, they got pretty close. If you’re looking for precise, responsive controls....that’s not how boats work. The bad: Matchmaking is truly aweful. Rarely do you see evenly-matched teams, and most matches are over quickly, with one team dominating the other. You’ll see level 8 boats matched against level 30, where they don’t stand a chance. Sometimes you’ll have imaging stats on. 10-game loosing streak because you’re matches with cannon-fodder as teammates. It’ s just a an overall fail at team-balance. Update: lates changes are killing the game. Rovio made a terrible decision to limit players to 8 “Casual” matches per day, rather than fixing what was broken in their ranked matchmaking. As a result players are leaving the game. Great game, but no longer getting the support from the Devs. They’re just milking it for money, rather than making substantive changes..Version: 4.9.8

✓ Unbalanced and developers not fixing the problemI’ve been playing this game for over a year now. It has beautiful graphics, extremely fun battle mechanics, and (the matchmaking algorithm not included) an overall fun game play. It has the potential to be my all time favorite mobile game. However, there is one major gripe about the game that really nullifies all of the good things I can say about it. Over the course of the past year the developers have done NOTHING to address the poor matchmaking algorithm. Despite being the number one thing discussed on the forums by the players, Rovio continues to ignore the biggest issue with their game. Even when the developers get on the forums to chat with the players, they downplay the problem, sweep it under the rug with some roundabout “answer”, or ignore it altogether. ✓ Don’t mess with my minesShould add a submarine that can only be equipped with torpedoes and cannons and mines. That would be interesting. They would be able to go underwater for a limited amount of seconds before being submerged for so long. Major damage from torpedoes and mild damage from mortars and cannons… I have a new weapon suggestion a mini mine. 5 mini mines that are attached together by chains that have a short distance to throw out from your ship that will attach to the enemy boat and only will blow up when the ship is hit by another weapon or runs into a regular mine. Like you could throw the mini mine even on a ship if it’s close enough but wouldn’t explode until the ship is shot or hit by something.. each mini mine could be 100 damage each totaling 500 until of course you level it up. That would be a big and low key weapon for close combat. Throw a small net mine on someone then shoot them to explode the mine net.. just a thought.Version: 5.0.3

✓ Better than it was.Game is fairly fun when it’s not glitching. Some maps seem to cause the boat controls to glitch more than others. Sometimes the joystick simply doesn’t respond. Sometimes you cannot fire at an attacker behind you while directing your boat away from them. The game forces you to either aim or drive. If you turn off orienting by camera or boat direction, your boat will run in circles or crash into walls and stay there. Orienting by camera angle with cruise control on seems to be the only way to get fewer issues. Avoid obstacles does not work. Autopilot is fairly stupid. It will run you through mine fields, into direct enemy fire, or into obstacles and walls. Match ups are random. You may be matched with good mates; you may get matched with bots that don’t move. You may be against enemies your team can tackle; it may be a team you can’t even take on 1 player before your team is decimated in the first 10 seconds of the 5 minute game play. Devs seem to have stopped caring over a year ago. Last message from them was 420 days ago. When the controls aren’t glitching, it’s a decent 4-5 star game, all things considered. ✓ Matchmaking Needs WorkThis game has so much potential. It’s an obvious P2W platform but that goes without saying. However, the matchmaking has been broken since this game came out. I’m amazed that the developers are that lazy to adjust their algorithm. You generally see the same players in your matches. You recognize who’s good and who’s not. I just find myself being paired against a stacked team who has 15+ legendary items compared to my teams 2 (I have zero, but I do have a lvl 50 epic explosive cannon). I just can’t understand why the game would pair you against a team like that who has 1 or 2 fixers while you’re left with nothing. When our team gets smoked in under a minute, you would think that would trigger something to be adjusted for next time. I can find myself on a 10-15 game losing streak because I’ll get paired against these Super Teams (who aren’t even fleeting together). Rovio, stop being lazy and fix this algorithm. Teams should have equal Fixers and equal gear score. I can’t imagine that a team with 15+ legendary items plus tier 3+ epics has the same gear score as my team running rare items with 1 or 2 good epic items mixed in? Could easily be 4 stars. I would give the game 5 stars if they gave a 50% discount on their stuff. You’ll see offers for 9000 pearls dor 40 Epic Power Cells which is needed to go from Tier IV to Tier 5. That’s over $50. ✓ AlrightBad news first, and there is a lot. The game is pay to win, its not noticable at the start but not too long in it is noticable, right when people usually figure they might spend money since they play it a fair bit. The games matchmaking goes of off infamy which makes you play wit players with close ammounts, this is good early on but as it does not matchmake by your overall gear it means that for me i am playing with tier 4-5s and me being one of the few tier 3s, microteansactions are overpriced and the weapone balancing does not exist, there is usually only big torpedos blast cannons and rarley anything else and the other things need a ton of levels to be comparable to the rest. The only good thing is that the gamplay without any outside factors (your gear) is good but is ruined by pay to play factors. Overall dont get as you cant play for long before hitting a pay wall, and wasting a ton of money on the overpriced items with it lying saying its x% off or x(times value).Version: 3.0.19417

✓ Good game but is being destroyed by bad updatesIt took something like 2 years to get an update, then then update they gave was skins for boats. No new maps, weapons, boats or anything. There are 3 modes of play: Ranked - For those people who thrive to be the best. Casual - For those players who like to play without the stress of climbing the ranks Event - This consists of 4v4 or 5v5 TDM in a first to 10 kills royal rumble Rovio has recently given another update that forces people to play ranked and shuns those that like to play stress free as they can only play 8 casual matches a day. There are also Guilds and Rivalries, in Rivalries you compete against other Guilds to try complete more quests than them. Quests consist of a Damage, Healing and Boats. There are targets to meet for each and this part of the game will die now that no one can play casual mode with odd quest setups. I played this game for around 5 years and will now stop playing as I don’t enjoy the stress of competitive play..Version: 4.9.8
✓ Everything I thinkI love this game but I do have some concerns. First of all, we should be able to report players in game while spectating, such as after you die. Sometimes, the last person is just floating and many times I just want to report them there but I have to wait until the battle ends, and I’d much rather be able to report them from when you start spectating. Also, I have the iPhone 8 and this game makes my phone really hot. It’s not a huge issue but it’s still an issue, and my phone constantly gets hot every time I open the game and especially when I start a battle. Another point I’d like to bring up is the matchmaking. Losing 5 games in a row kills the mood, please do something to at least give you good teammates that are matched or better than your skill rather than put them all on the other team. ✓ So closeThis is so so close to the perfect little phone game but and it’s a big BUT. There are lots of little annoying things like most games; you have to spend to get far, they obviously fix certain parts so you don’t get equipment etc that you need but and here it is; They clearly tried to save some money at some point and hired a chimp or some sort of jungle creature to design certain key elements, one being the match making. So, you could be playing for as little as a few weeks or even days and be constantly put up against utter pro’s at the game that have been playing for years and spend most people’s yearly salary on this game (which you’ll need to do to actually get anywhere) It’s so frustrating and fully kills any and all long term fun. ✓ New update is awfulThe new update as the title suggests is a disgrace. You taken all the skill out of the game and have encouraged close range battling. Torpedoes, railgun and snipers for the most part are utterly pointless as the agility gives players an easy swerve. This game stood out due to not another dash in blasts and hope for the best. ✓ The bot AI is just weirdSo I had a pretty good first impression. The first couple of tutorial games went fine as expected and even the first 1-2 casual games. Then the bots just... stopped firing? I would get stuck in a fierce 1v1 against one of the opposing bots (who always had much more health and attack power than I) and I would realise no one else was firing. Eventually I attracted the other opponents and it became more of a 1v3-5. It was 0-0 the whole game until I inevitably died unable to beat the entire team and then it would finish 5-0, with barely a mark on any of the other team. This happened 3 games in a row. I get the need of bots for matchmaking purposes, especially in casual, but they need to do something. It would’ve taken over an hour of endless grinding just to make it to captain lvl 5 and get out of casual because my only way of progressing was through losing in 1v5 whilst watching my useless “teammates” fail to actually do anything. ✓ Horribly brokenAs you level up you get bigger boats with more weapons, and based how well you’re doing you’re put in tougher leagues and matched up against players at your level. In theory. I leveled a Fixer up to level three and was in the second league playing people in the 900’s. If you try to level a different boat, you’re still in the same league and still matched up against people in the 900’s. Even though you’re trying to use a level one boat within gear you haven’t leveled yet. Obviously leveling each individual boat should be it’s own experience, but it’s not made that way. Okay, so I’ve learned you have to level all the boats together at the same time. So I delete the app, reinstall it, and it says. “You’ve played before. ✓ What happened?Now battle bay used to be a great game, and I used to play it around this time. It was one of the best mobile games I have ever played, perhaps the best game I had ever played. The action was fast paced and hardcore. It had so much personality. It was kept simple to not overwhelm players. The captain/upgrade system was great and gave a lot of personality to the game. Waves were a great mechanic. The game wasn’t pay to win, and things were looking pretty bright, until they made the first major update. It looked good at first glance. A new ship and balance changes were put into place to even out the ship levels, but then I started to realize what horror came with this. The game became pay to win, with high level players obliterating entire teams almost by themselves, most ships having you grind or pay to get them, simplicity was ruined with constant updates with new parts, and the captains had left the game. The game then died and was never to be seen again. Currently it still is a good game and if you like a more fast paced shooter then you should get this but at its current state there are still fans who are waiting for this game to be revived and the community is very kind..Version: 4.8.1

Played a few hours a day for 3 months, I still haven't unlocked the 3rd tier ship, but it matchmakes you in against T3/4's all the time. Since it’s just one friend I don’t wanna play a custom game with just one other person. Matchmaking is pretty frustrating for me because of repeating teams and team up useless team every single match by watching my team died very fast before one minute which it’s 91% of my team are like this. Anyway, I will rate this star to 5 if you fixed two issues of matchmaking. For example, before match starts, u can pick 3 different set up of weapons to choose to fight against those specific ships. If u see too many speeders, I have to switch to speeders weapons to fight against them like Call of Duty that u picked weapons with 10 seconds to pick weapons before match start. Last issues, fix the settings to choose what ships u rather fight. I love to fight against shooters/defenders/fixers. Like turn off speeders, enforcers, interceptors, and other ships that u don’t want to fight against every single matches. For my opinion, it’s not fun at all when u keep fighting against 2 or more speeders every single matches when u using all mortars to help guild mortars damages. I cannot chat with my friends between battles, unless I return to the Bay each time (time consuming) nor can I fleet with my partner. Seems I dropped some infamy and now, months later, still cannot crawl back up because all my team mates are morons! This is rapidly losing its appeal, which is a shame.
