Not syncingI’m in the Uk and this app just dose not seem to sync anything between my iPad, browser, and phone. The only way I’ve managed to get it to sync is to completely log out and log back in every time I go on it. Can this please be fixed ASAP!.Version: 1.98.0

Utter rubbish of an update. Get XeroI’ve used FreshBooks for 5-6years now. I’ve watched the price creep up above what I’m paying for my Xero subscription but haven’t minded because it used to be a dream to use. Got the latest update to the new app and website about a month ago. It’s slow. It’s bloated. I’ve logged in now to create an invoice and the page has hung for 10mins. There’s no way to add additional email addresses to contacts in the app anymore. Item creation is a mess some stay some don’t. You change wording ie in Misc Parts and sometimes the new descriptions stick sometimes they don’t. Password on the app doesn’t work with LastPass and the app logs you out All the time. Couldn’t log in a week ago. Had to delete the app and the-install it. No response from a previously nimble tech support. Whatever FreshBooks has turned into it’s a pale imitation of what it was in the past and is possibly just cruising on its past good reputation. Missing many of the desktop featuresThe app is missing many of the features of the full desktop site. For example, I can not see the number of unbilled hours I have at a glance like on the desktop interface. There are also occasional math bugs in the app. For example, I recorded .25 hours for a customer, but when generating an invoice, it is being changed to .26 hours. Other strange rounding errors also appear when inputting time. One star off for the missing features and one more for the rounding errors....Version: 1.135

Poor quality controlI run a software development team and I can recognize poor QA when I see it. I can always tell a deployment happened in FreshBooks recently, because things start going wrong. This week, I had the secondary contacts list suddenly disappear. This affected our ability to send out an invoice on time, which for a small business is a crippling problem. Then I encountered the next bug. I needed to re-login. This is no big deal as this is how I always know they’ve changed something. When I tried to enter my credentials, it took me to a dialog forcing me to create a new account. There was no ability to go back to a screen to log in. Even clearing the app out of memory took me right past the log in screen to the create new account dialog. The only fix was to uninstall the app and reinstall. That’s such an amateur oversight that one would not expect from an established application. This only comes up when there is no real application testing to verify that it’s actually usable versus the devs just meeting requirements. This bug doesn’t sound like a big deal except that when I’m trying to start the clock on-site at the client’s location, I can’t be seen playing on my phone..Version: 1.131

No way to add income on appI use the desktop version often, but I get behind on entering expenses and income. I hoped that having the app on my phone would get me into the habit of entering them right away. However, the app does not seem to have a way to enter income, and to be honest it is not easy to get to where you add income on the desktop version either. It’s quite frustrating. I do like the ability to create my own categories for expenses, but it would be really nice to be able to split a receipt into several categories. I have to enter one receipt several times in order to have more than one category in a purchase..Version: 1.162.0

Seriously guys, get it together!!This app is practically useless. Won’t import time tracked to invoices, Won’t import expenses to imports, what’s the point. The old one worked, this one doesn’t. Great app when it works rightI’ve had nothing but issues with the functionality of this app starting about 6 months ago after they did an update and it hasn’t gotten any better. The log in screen wouldn’t go away and you would have to swipe down to dismiss it. I started having issues tracking mileage if I didn’t sign in right before a drive and now since the last update 4 days ago I can’t even do that and I’m stuck on the log in screen! Mobile app needs attentionI’ve used FreshBooks for a few years and there seem to be glitches now with the mobile app. First it wouldn’t save photos of receipts, and it now won’t open at all on my phone despite reinstalling and updating to the most current version. I don’t know if the like apps perform any better, but there always seems to be something that doesn’t quite perform. As a small business owner, it’s quite frustrating as it can burn a lot of hours, especially for a platform that’s been increasing in cost. Okay appIt works for someone who isn’t used to doing this, but the credits don’t automatically apply to the next billing that goes out to clients, and now the feature where you can take a photo of the receipt and it automatically fills in the fields is gone, making the app harder to use. I already sent a message and was told it’d be forwarded to the developing team, however I just updated and it hasn’t changed. The price just went up by 5$ and I get less function for more cost. I’m most likely going to finish out this season and swap apps to something more streamlined..Version: 1.187.7

Not Nearly As Good As The Desktop VersionI only use the mobile app for entering expenses and uploading photos of receipts. Other more detailed functions are difficult to do with thumbs. However a bug in the expense module has persisted on and off for many months: after entering all data you often hit the save button only to see all of your tedious thumb work vanish instantly! The only remedy is to re-enter the expense info on your desktop or laptop machine and then use the mobile app to upload the receipt photo. So at this point the app is a time waster rather than a time saver. Another thing: why isn’t it possible to edit an existing expense to make it a recurring expense? Instead, you have to delete your previous entry and start over to create a recurring expense. Another time waster. How about adding a mileage field to the time tracking module? That way, the user could track mileage and see a total at the end of the year. The IRS requires record keeping to support mileage deductions. Adding a mileage field to time tracking would create the fastest, easiest possible way to comply with the IRS on mileage. I have probably requested this feature 20 times on support calls. It seems to be falling on deaf ears..Version: 1.133.1

Time tracker entries disappearingI've LOVED FreshBooks for years, but their new app and redesign has lost time entries, some of which I have screenshots for. I'm certain their development team will fix this eventually, but I've lost records of billable time, and it would be dishonest of me to guess and bill the client. I would expect something like this will be fixed by around October of 2018. If you're reading this then or later, you're probably in good shape. But right now, I can't trust it and I've been working with their help team for about a week. Just wanted to put a warning out there. Web Version is so much better!I’ve been using FreshBooks for my small business for years now, but I almost never use the phone or iPad apps. Why? Because they rarely work as they should. Just earlier this week, I had done a couple invoices and entered payment through the website, a day later, open the app, refresh it and it STILL won’t show the entries I created on the web. Another issue is there is not a way to attach files for expenses other that taking a photo of it. I can do that through the web version on my iPad, but not the iPad app? No good. And finally, the mileage tracking misses a LOT of drives. I’ve used MILEIQ for years and was hoping this could replace it, but when it seems to only log 50% of my drives, I cannot rely on it. Buggy and SlowI’ve been dealing with customer support on this app for the last month. They are useless. It started with not being able to make invoices properly and having to upload expenses 2-3 times before it would.. then it got worse. The invoicing sucks because you can only write on one line - good luck trying to make multiple bullet points under your services or items. When I try to upload an invoice from my photo gallery on my phone - it takes sometimes 3-5 minutes. Then, when I check my expenses - it shows that it didn’t register. Very inconvenient and I don’t have time for that. I’ve been a FreshBooks customer for a few years now and I expected better treatment for the mass inconvenience their platform has been. It’s mind boggling when many other entities are doing what they do without these issues. But all they did was create a support ticket and keep insinuating that I’m doing something wrong. Further to the issues I’m already having - now I can’t even login to the app. And I emailed them again and I got some automated response. If you haven’t yet committed to their accounting platform - DONT DO IT! Choose Quickbooks or something more widely used as the customer service is terrible as is their app!.Version: 1.182.0

Buggy.I rarely write reviews but this time feel the need to try to get a message back to the developers of this app and the new (not so new now) version of FreshBooks. The old one wasn’t pretty to look at, but it worked. Everything worked. The web app. The iOS app. Everything. The newer FreshBooks may have more pretty pastel colours and cartoon icons, but the iOS app is buggy and the web app is not as intuitive or user friendly as the old one. When it comes to accounting, I don’t think it needs to be pretty. Clear, yes. Pretty, no. The old version was crystal clear, you had a lot of data on the screen without having to scroll yet it wasn’t cluttered. Links to navigate around were intuitive. Now I’m often left wondering how to find this, or do that. And when I figure it out it’s often with more clicks than previously. That’s not progress. Now, about this app. It frequently crashes and freezes when trying to load. And I just noticed that lots - most - of my paid invoices are showing as unpaid. So payments I had entered via the web app were not syncing with the iOS app and paid invoices therefore were showing as overdue on my phone. I tried refreshing the page by dragging down and releasing but nothing changed. I tried closing and re opening the app but no different. It’s a mess. And for the monthly fees, frankly not good enough. This would be a two star review were it not for the fact that historically I’ve enjoyed FreshBooks, and found their telephone support to be excellent..Version: 1.160.1

Brutal interface. Brutal functionUnable to login using triple checked credentials. Then hit Sign In with Apple to realize I was creating a new account. The only button is continue. No cancel. I searched for the client, selected the overdue and unpaid invoices that they were getting caught up on, and selected “Mark As… Paid”. I want to love itI can tell within my first month of using this app that it’s going to make my life much easier during tax time. However, PLEASE fix the mileage tracker! It doesn’t track all of my trips, and if I’m lucky it’ll track a small portion of some trips. I have the iPhone 13, and I have restarted my phone and uninstalled & reinstalled the app multiple times, so I know it’s not my phone. I drive a lot and I don’t want to pay for & depend on third party mileage tracking apps. Not as good as previous versionThis is a simple, clear cut app. Easy to use, easy to invoice. I don’t like the UI nearly as much as the old version, and I wish I had a home page that I could easily access to see everything summed up like in the old app. This move makes one migrate to the desktop more than the old version, which is annoying. They have also taken away features in the invoices themselves, like no longer offering a dedicated space for PO numbers, which is important to a lot of contractors. I know I can use the “notes” section, but having a space up top with the PO was much nicer, and why take it away? Just too dumbed down. I still like freshbooks in general, but this app reminds me of the freshbooks app from two or three versions ago. App has been buggy for years, never fixedToward the end of my second year with this product, I can no longer justify its use. Receipt uploading is buggy and rarely works, regardless of my Internet connection on an iPhone 8, then an 11. At times, expenses I input will not even allow for a receipt to upload. “failed to upload receipt” shows up on my screen every single day. Customer support let me know there’s nothing they can do to help, so I guess that’s just how it’s supposed to be? Unacceptable, one cannot run a business this way. Poorly designed appThis app is really poorly designed. Even doing simple things is almost impossible. I tried to duplicate an estimate and update a line item (should be a simple task) but each time I edited the line item it replaced the description and $$$ with different values. Addresses are formatted wrong for Australia and as a result invoices and estimates look unprofessional (FreshBooks are aware of this issue but haven’t resolved it despite numerous complaints.) Honestly, it’s easier to just wait until you are back at a desktop computer to use FreshBooks. Garbage / Negative Reviews TrueWhat garbage. Straight off the bat the app is stuck in an infinite loop of verification. I registered and then went through the email confirmation and it stuck in a loop. I can’t un-register and I can’t start over because it has accepted my email. Customer service was of no helps and when I asked before even downloading the app, the representative swore to me there would be no problems. Fought through it and after 4 hours and a ton of back door shady $&#! I was able to get in to test the app. Well wouldn’t you know there was yet again another issue! The app now freezes. Are you kidding me? So I logged out and tried again and then I would go through the same thing. They are completely incompetent in my opinion and they want me to trust them with my Money. FAT CHANCE! Freshbooks is fine to use on the computer but the mobile app is glitchy, doesn’t load properly quite often, and the text boxes cut off your text to one sentence. Love FreshBooks; Hate iOS appFreshBooks as a whole does everything I need, but their app so subpar. It was great until the last 3 mo or so when I realized that entries made on the app (expenses, time etc) weren’t syncing with the site. I’ve logged tickets only to be told I need to update the app. But not matter how many times I update the app or stop and close it or restart the issue persists. Today the only use of the app is to see where we’re at as there is no way to actually use it with any degree of safety. In an hourly based small business having faith that the hours I log will be available when I go to invoice is a must have. Great Product, Low Quality AppI use FreshBooks online regularly and it works great. For the price, it offers my company nearly everything we need. The problem we have is the phone application. Each time I open the app, I am automatically directed to the “sign up” page. I have to select that I would like to log in, then am taken to a screen that never remembers my sign in information, even though I repeatedly request that it does. Furthermore, each time I sign in I set up Face ID….and somehow the app never allows me to sign in using it. It’s like all of my preferences for the app are wiped each time I close it. Great software, horrible app. Please fix it or we may be forced to find another accounting software at the end of the year..Version: 1.188.1

New UX is awful. You lost a Loyal customer of 10 yearThe new UI/UX of FreshBooks is a huge downgrade from a platform that has been reliable and efficient for a long time. It is very obvious that it is a new front end slapped on top of the old backend and it made an amazing product absolutely worthless. I am canceling my account and moving to Xero. It’s such a shame because I loved this product and even though I’ve used other platforms for accounting over the years, I always kept all my accounts receivable / invoicing with FreshBooks until now. DissatisfiedYou have a great app but I can’t access my account during business hours on a Saturday. I’ve been trying to trouble shoot why I can’t get into my profile. It simply told me try again in 30 seconds because of a error. After trying and trying to access my account and perform very necessary tasks for my business on a Saturday morning it still didn’t work. Only to google and trouble shoot myself I found the issue. There is scheduled maintenance for the app and they shut all their users out and don’t allow them access to their accounts. It’s a horrible practice with even worse timing. Will be looking into a different app after this issue. Everything else about this app is super solid so this seems like a fixable problem but it’s very upsetting to have the app you use for work shut down your work day and cripple productivity for seemingly no good reason. Not StableApps crashes intermittently. Time tracking feature doesn’t work when trying to log time if timer was started from PC. The PC version works but the program is not optimal. When generating invoices with expenses charged to clients, system does not put date on expense nor does it sort them by date on the invoice. This is a nightmare to arrange in the right order as you cannot even use the amount as the reference if you marked it up by a percentage... I am looking at alternatives now.....Version: 1.126.0

The only thing worse is the website that constantly crashes or worse, after you’ve spent hours invoicing or typing up a bid, becomes unresponsive not allowing you to save or send the bid/invoice out. So you have to close out and start all over again. I’m in the process of researching 3rd party software that will allow me to take my data and my business elsewhere. There have been numerous qol and productivity issues caused when you made the great transition. No more dashboardSince this version launched, I’ve been hoping they would add a dashboard. There is literally no way to see what your outstanding invoice totals are with this app, like there was with the old one and like there is on the website. I can use the app to send an invoice but then I have to go through my web browser to see things like the total outstanding invoices. Also when you sort by sent / viewed / overdue / paid, it doesn’t put viewed and overdue near each other... so it’s not easy to see all outstanding invoices. Really weird..Version: 1.75.0

Time tracking still brokenThis app can’t reliably do the one thing that an independent professional needs it to do: track time! After many revisions of the “new” FreshBooks app, and opening a case with support, I still can’t pause the timer. About one out of three times, the timer appears to pause, but if I close and re-open the app, it’s still timing. I just use the stopwatch on my phone to record my time now, because FreshBooks can’t be trusted, and billing my clients accurately is very important. FreshBooks’ accounting features aren’t enough to actually run a business, and the time tracking doesn’t work, so I am not really sure why I’m still paying for this product..Version: 1.113.0

Recurrent time tracking problemsAs a sole proprietor, my time is my profit and not being able to accurately track time is problematic when billing my customers. Fresh books has a recurring problem of time tracking issues. If you’re actually able to get in touch with a customer service representative, their advice will be to delete the app and reinstall hoping this takes care of the problem. I’ve done that several times over several years sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Please FreshBooks fix this problem once and for all! I have to go to a different app in order to track my time which eliminates the convenience of tracking from my accounting app. The time tracking is probably the most use option in my business and it works about 50% of the time; unacceptable..Version: 1.175.2

Terrible App for invoicingI tried to invoice my employers 3 times using this app, successfully created the document but when sending through the app it doesn’t even end up sending it so then I downloaded as a PDF but the file doesn’t even work. Useless.Version: 1.177.0

Needs calendar viewWas finally forced over from the old Freshbooks to the new platform, so far not impressed. Projects didn’t migrate automatically (support is working on it), the new app is mostly an improvement in performance but lacks some basic features. Most importantly for me, how is there not a calendar view when logging time? You have to click an arrow and go from day to day one by one if you want to review your time sheets. The old app at least had a calendar view so you could jump to a specific day. Ideally there would be a calendar view that would show the month and also a split window at the bottom to show what time sheets are entered for that day when you click on it. As it stands having to click and go through each day one at a time is a huge hassle..Version: 1.169.0

Waste of $ for small biz ownerI have a single member LLC with very modest accounting needs. I signed up for Freshbooks in Jan 2019 after disappointment with Quicken. Wish I had kept it. After a year on the Freshbooks $15/mo plan I now find that it fails to import random months from my credit card expenses and many basic features have been put behind a $25/mo paywall like running a simple balance sheet. Support is always unavailable and there is no email support, just a chat bot. So now I am going to do my 2020 accounting manually in a excel and I’ve wasted $170 for the year. I hated Quicken because I felt the value to cost was too low, but at least there was some value. Avoid..Version: 1.162.0

FreshBooks Classic is better…I was forced to upgrade from classic to fresh book and the app is horrible. When putting in events and things you have done throughout the day, if you leave the app or the app force closes, it does not save your information. I have reached out to support number of times and they keep blaming something to do with reinstalling the app but that never fixes it or the iOS version of mine, which is always the most recent. I have reverted to typing my work in OneNote and pasting it in to the online FreshBooks portal for submission. Avoid using the app on iOS 15.3 as of 3/9/22..Version: 1.181.1

Sucks1. You have to add all your clients manually, they don’t pull in from your contacts list on your phone. 2. The timer doesn’t work well, it stops. If you do keep it going…. 3. Useful tool on the go for expensesThis app is great for using quick to input expenses. My only issue is it doesn’t always log the time i put in. I usually have to enter time logs twice if not three times. I tried the log out, the close the app and this is a constant issue. I did reach out to support and they told me to do what I already try - logging out, closing the app going back in. The fact it requires those steps each time - I don’t track the time in the app - i iust make notes on my phone and enter it in when im in my office and on the desktop. Ive lost hours with the app and i have too many jobs to track to lose money like that. The app tracks expenses great - but that is it..Version: 1.191.0

Great When WorkingThis app seems to worst every time they do an update not better! Everything was working fine and now I can’t even get the app to open which is a real pain when trying to do invoicing or expenses. Then there is the support or should I say lack of support. You can’t even speak to a real person but rather just an automated “question” response..Version: 1.174.4

The worst!If I could rate negative, I would. Consistently having issues with automatic imports and connecting to my bank. It takes 4+days for charges to actually show from my credit card. When you cancel services, you no longer have access to ANYTHING on their platform even if you are just a few days in on your current month. They not only don’t allow access as soon as you cancel, they don’t refund your money for the unused portion of the month. So if you cancel services 2 days after paying, you better hope you already have everything backed up cause to gain access to it again, you gotta re-subscribe and get charged for a full month..Version: 1.187.7

I’m furiousI WILL NEVER USE FRESHBOOKS AGAIN. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE USE THEIR SERVICE. I AM SWITCHING TO QUICKBOOKS. ——- I’m so upset with Freshbooks. For the past few years, I have used their service and it has worked fine. Just over 3 weeks ago, all of a sudden they decided that I need to verify my business address and are requiring documentation. As a result, they are withholding my paycheck. I will not able to pay my bills. I’ve been trying to work with them to sort it out, have called 4 or 5 times, and their support team has completely failed to resolve this issue. In addition, their third party fund distributor ‘WePay’ has no support team. No one to talk to. All you get is an automated email with the same information every time. Terrible AppI have been using Freshbooks for 3 years and this app has been bad for 3 years. The web version of Freshbooks is great. The app is quirky at best. It seems every time you open it, some functionality is non-functional. I try to charge a card through the site, doesn’t work. I try to send an invoice to a customer, doesn’t work. Open an invoice and the customer magically disappears. It has little field level ability and is very frustrating. I have called for help and it is always my fault. The phone, the software version and “no one else is having these issues”. It’s a shame..Version: 1.186.0

Has potentialI like idea behind FreshBooks and some of the innovations they have. Mileage tracking is a huge plus. I find the app goes through periods where it crashes every time I try and open it. I check the App Store for updates but there isn’t always one available. This is pretty frustrating when trying to keep on top of things..Version: 1.168.2

Love Freshbooks...the old oneI am a huge fan of Freshbooks. Their customer service is the best in the world. Unfortunately, the new app misses the mark. Took away ability to set preference for mailing or emailing customer. They sent me a .csv for me to manually keep up with it. I was so happy with the previous app. They have so much potential. I really have no use for it if I have to manually select customer preference for each invoice...but im probably too lazy to change and too dumb to learn a new system..Version: 1.168.2
