✓ PopupAnnoying popup that you have to dismiss two times, every time you start the app. I use two other apps that are using the VPN feature to block ads, NextDNS and DNSCloak. ✓ It used to block adsSometime in the past two weeks it has stopped blocking most of the ads I used to get. I know it’s not an adblocker per se, but it used to do a wonderful job of that. Now I can’t even tell it’s running, so it’s probably not actually blocking much at all now. I was considering subscribing, that’s how I came to leave this review, but not now. ✓ DO NOT UPGRADE. FORCED SUBSCRIPTION FOR CUSTOM WHITELISTDO NOT UPGRADE. The app now FORCES you to pay for a PREVIOUSLY FREE function: the custom whitelist!! I thought I already paid something for this app at one point??! Now the custom white list has been removed unless you pay monthly for it. Typical greedy Apple putting pressure on devs to make EVERYTHING a subscription. FO I won't do it. ONE STAR is generous for this piece of trash. ORIGINAL REVEWI: Love it, except for one crucial feature I really love this app and how it keeps me safe. But I add a lot of sites to it while I am browsing. The main issue for me, and why it is clunky for me, is because I am on a 12. 9 inch iPad Pro. Devs, try to picture going into this app 20-40 times daily or more to customize it and add trackers (there are so many now). Every single time I do this, I am forced into portrait only mode. Portrait in "one way" mode. WHY for the love of God haven't you implemented UNIVERSAL APP mode so that those of us with iPad Pros can have a LANDSCAPE MODE?? ✓ UselessUpdate after company response: That is completely incorrect. I used the app for 4 days with nothing, I mean absolutely nothing, happening. And according to the article I read touting this app, activity occurred regardless if background activity was deactivated. And a since there are no instructions, by playing around i finally see activity if, and only if, VPN is used. Considering that i have sensitive client information that passes thought my email ( I’m not even supposed to use WiFi), I do not want my whole phone’s data to go through to another VPN just to work. Original: I downloaded this after an article I read about massive data/tracking during late night hours. Per the article I also turned off my background activity. After 4 days, this app did absolutely nothing. Zero blocks. I even made the filter strictest possible and still nothing. I cancelled the subscription b/c $4.99/ mo for nothing is expensive..Version: 1.4.4
✓ Cool idea, execution very poorSo you take a good idea and create it poorly, every update fixes things but breaks more things. The 'new' design is not great, please concentrate on fixing bugs instead of adding new features or confusion consumers with moving everything around. It will unsuccessfully attempt to load a page (every two seconds) for five or six times, then encrypt the connection & we get there at last! NB, I don’t have encrypt DNS enabled. Result appears to be, that any ‘new’ page takes around 10 seconds for the initial load..Version: 1.4.4
✓ Slows down appsI found this app to slow down many apps and web browsing compare to load time before installing the apps. Reporting was Ok said it blocked 100 attempts to send data but when investigating the actual number was 84. ✓ Feature Request: Add temporary disablementI’ve been using it for two days, and seems to perform as advertised. My only qualm so far is that it seems to break Facebook app when on, so I need to disable it when I occasionally use FB on iOS. But then I forget to re-enable it, which is disappointing when I check Privacy Pro for current stats. Some VPN clients have a temporary disablement function for x minutes. This could be a solution. ✓ Worked until I updated todayIt’s always been a stellar product. Used it when it was a completely free service and paid for the toolbox and vpn services. Now I restore purchases and the banner is still there, the protection turns itself off and then tells me that I don’t have an internet connection so “products cant be loaded”. You have us over a barrel here...this is the only vpn service that does what you do. Not Nord, not Express, not Private internet access...OK, maybe OpenVPN with a crap ton of modifications. But I don’t expect to have to beg a developer to make their product work. FYI, I have not upgraded to the new iOS yet and running a perfectly good 6S+. ✓ FraudI paid $20 for app to block ads. It was all working well until they made customisation to block custom url paid. This should have been done for new users while existing users should have received it for free. Bloody fraud. Edit- Dropped down to 1 star from 5 stars rating. ✓ Former Fan, moving onVery disappointed to see crucial free features migrating to the paid version. I had previously been telling everyone about PrivacyPro’s power; it is a very effective firewall for keeping out trackers and ads while browsing and even preventing apps from sending tracking information etc. That power is now gone as the free version no longer supports user security rules. Clearly the free version was too powerful for its own good and made the additional vpn measures unnecessary—something I can confirm having tried out the paid version. I was thrilled with what the non-subscription version had to offer but without custom security rules, the free version is no better than the most basic Ad-Blocker but more user unfriendly since it has tons of unusable features until you upgrade..Version: 1.5.7
✓ Laggy and obtuseI really wanted to like this but it’s too hard to use. 1) It shows trackers blocked but there’s no context on what app generates them, what their content is, where they’re going or what they’re doing. 2) You can’t select trackers or apps to whitelist, it’s basically on or off. The only customizations are things like “block more Facebook” but no explanation about what that does (or if it even works when I’m using the browser instead of a FB app.) 3) It adds more than 10 seconds lag to almost all my app interactions. I also get nasty notes from websites about ad blockers but I have no way to whitelist them if I want to. With better documentation and settings I’d definitely like to use it and pay for the subscription. As is it’s just annoying and not worth it for the dubious benefit “trust me, this is more secure”. ✓ AwfulTried this after seeing it in an article in the Washington Post. It broke a bunch of connections and once uninstalled, couldn’t be fixed even though I reset all my privacy settings to the defaults. One of my favorite games got blocked and it couldn’t be unblocked at all. Terrible support page as well, no info on unblocking..Version: 1.4.4
✓ UselessThis VPN App will not give you a new IP address I turned it on and I still have same IP.. Ok, after last update it’s giving new IP address but all other apps (like speed net & Appstore) can still determine the original IP address in addition to that it’s unable to unblock blocked sites I don’t know how that happened but I’m sure that the problem is in the app itself as I’m using other VPN services without any such a problem So one star is more than it deserves Stay away from this app meantime coz it’s USELESS.Version: 1.3.7

✓ Used to be greatI’ve been using this app for a few years now and loved the ability to customize the block list. Unfortunately I’ve lost the ability to see any activity except for blocked trackers. This means that I cannot further customize my block list based on the trackers actively tracking me. I reached out to the customer service team and the person helping me was very kind and responsive. They said they’re working with the developers on a fix, but they haven’t been able to come up with anything in the 2 months since I first reported this issue. If I can’t get this fixed, I’ll probably switch to a different app once my subscription runs out since I can no longer further customize my privacy protection..Version: 1.7.6
✓ Doesn't work since updateThis app was brilliant before its last update. Since then, it keeps turning itself off. I turn it on and as soon as I visit a site/Facebook/Twitter etc it takes ages to load and the VPN logo up top flashes on and off until finally it disappears and the site loads. ✓ App is good but stops working randomlyI do not have the vpn on, and when I check for activity I notice that it just stops logging for hours at a time. The only way to fix it is to turn the app off and then back on again. So basically there is no record of what was going on while the app crashed, and nothing blocked for hours at a time when you thought the app was working. It has happened every day, 2 weeks after installing. So I am unsure whether to purchase premium version if I have to check the app every couple of minutes to see if it is actually working..Version: 1.7.6
✓ Just frustrating...Downloaded after reading an article on the Washington Post. Somehow it repeatedly kept causing my phone to lose complete service. No wifi, data or cell connectivity. All while my son was in hospital emergency. I finally realized that was the only change on my phone. Uninstalled it and restarted my phone and connection was restored. ✓ Functional but could use more controlI like that it blocks most of what you custom block, but it doesn’t allow you to block certain Apple connecting domains, even though it states that the pro version lets you block everything. I have the pro version. It doesn’t allow you to block everything. If they want to disallow some, there should be some sort of notification of why it was disallowed. Also, I sometimes block things that I find out later has ‘broken’ certain functionality. I would love to be able to mark these with a color, and/or even add a note after unblocking. ✓ Privacy Amateur DumVPNDoesn’t work as a traditional VPN, but they’ll gladly take $8/mo and suggest you upgrade again to mask IP and Location. Whether you do the trial or if you’re already a subscriber, just google “what is my IP” with “protection” on and off. It makes no difference. It will tell you where you are logging in from and what your IP address is. Wish I had done this sooner. I thought I was protected. I want my 4 months of subscription fees back. ✓ Too many bugs on free & paid version****New 2019 bug alert**** My block list is gone and stopped working and I’m not able to re-block any website to start over and create a new list. As of right now I get UNABLE. Which is a new error message not allowing me to block any websites. (Yes developers, I’ve deleted/re-installed app, restored purchases, deleted/re-installed the VPN and wiped the block list AND I’ve restarted my phone.) I had the free version for a few years and was having the same issues with the blocked list disappearing and not working. I thought buying the app would put and end to the problem, sadly it did not. This app is finicky. It will only work for a few weeks. If I’m lucky, a few months. I have to check that the app is working several times a day because at ANY moment my block list will be gone and stop working. ***Unless you keep an eye on it, you’ll have zero idea that your block list is wiped and not working.**** Encrypted shows it’s still working, but the numbers are significantly lower when the site blocking stops. In reality, it charges £1 to your AppStore account on installing the ‘free’ version (soon stopped that). ✓ ConfusedI do not know with this app when I blocked a site and when it is allowed. In activity it shows most recent tracked addresses with a rectangular box that says allowed. When I press the arrow next to the site a window opens in which the Term Blocked is turned on. When I save the site though, Blocked is turned off. This is very confusing. There were some sites that showed as allied that I wanted to block. specifically I wanted to block a site that had the term remoteconfig in it. Now I don’t know if instead I gave them custom permission to be on. ✓ Overpriced VPN dependent upon deliberate Apple client abuseThis is a VPN that blocks the stuff Apple and others make their money from exploiting. In short it stops traffic that you are mostly unaware of and which Apple allows as this makes them money. I’d call that consumer and customer abuse. It’s similar to the way Apple makes update to the operating system on their computers iPads and phones which deliberately downgrade your hardware until you are forced to upgrade. It’s unethical, environmentally wasteful and profitable. If you’re wondering why I’m giving this a bad review that would be because I cancelled the subscription two months ago and they are still charging me. When I went to report it to Apple I got a robot note telling me that I would not get a refund. Milking customers and offering them no way to cancel seems to be legal if your Apple?.Version: 1.5.1
