✓ DARK modeSuper App even the free version. Those domains that are blocked -the time can’t be seen in dark mode so it’s hard to know if it’s still working like it should be. Apps like this one often crash it’s true. An update could fix that -then five stars⭐️.Version: 1.5.4
✓ Excellent even on free version.I love how it keeps track in basically real-time. VPN is always on no matter how many networks you switch through. Most apps work fine with the VPN, but it seems some video streaming apps (for me CraveTV) don’t particularly like it. All in all still worth the download..Version: 1.5.4
✓ Great but fix landscape problem on iPadsReally great app. I’ve only just started the free trial and I’m amazed by how frequently apps use the internet to send data back and forth. The ad blocking is great but I really appreciate the ability to monitor and block internet traffic through apps, which I haven’t seen before (ad blockers are now common in most browsers). One major problem for me though: The app does not work in landscape mode on an iPad on iOS 13. It displays in portrait which requires me to either hold the ipad or tilt my neck, so pretty much unusable on an iPad with keyboard. This is an easy fix as almost every other app I have can automatically adjust to landscape mode. Hopefully the developers can fix this and then I can use on my iPad as well as my iPhone..Version: 1.5.3

✓ Could give more info.Great app. Paying customer, but I hate having to dig through and find out what tracker it is or it’s something else needed for an app or whatever the use is. Then it’s a game of on and off or block and don’t block to see what gets an app going. There has to be a standard of these things that you can state which one goes under so we can determine what to block versus a general app based one on strict to basic blocking. Especially when there hundreds of apps and you cover a handful only. Also, there should be something like the location arrow that states when it’s in use so we can restart it versus finding out hours later. ✓ ImprovementsVPN is a bit slow; typical of all VPN services, but users should be aware. What would be useful is a filter that lets you see blocked trackers, only. And then abides of what the source is (website in browser, app?). That may be difficult, because you can only analyze traffic, not app data on device. But I suspect you might have a good idea about where the traffic is originating, if only through a bit of reverse engineering. Finding that, fortunately, most of the traffic being generated is for services I would know about if I thought about it: Apple services associated with location I have allowed (iCloud, App Store, etc.), Outlook, obvious stuff. What’s insidious is Google. I don’t run Google apps for reasons of privacy, and yet they somehow find ways to track me. That company is insidious. Valuable app. If nothing else, you get a good idea of how much data smog your iPhone leaves behind you..Version: 1.4.4

✓ Great firewall for iPhoneI love this app. Great app to let you know all the user tracking that goes on when you visit websites and even just use the apps on your device. E.g. my old home security cam app was pinging sited in China whenever I used it... Great customization for choosing which domains to block. (Blocked the .cn China domains used by that security cam app). And you can use a partial domain to block which is great to block ad sites and other trackers. Highly recommended!.Version: 1.4.7

✓ Pretty good, but not like it wasWhen Privacy Pro came out, you could create as many lists as you’d like to block all the unwanted traffic. However, now, you are not able to create any list without opting for the Pro plan, which is currently $40/yr. I know as a free user, they aren’t making any money off of me, but it stinks to start out on a product that was free and then have it changed to a costly plan. Anyway was surprised when checking IP location that I was still in the same region. On talking with the support people about why this was we both thought I had the VPN version. Anyway it's a great app and appears to work without you knowing its doing something which in my mind makes it good. ✓ Safety and visibilityI’ve been trialing the free version and really like how I can see what’s being blocked and allowed and that I can customise what it blocks. I ran it for a few days without opening the app so I could see the impact on my battery life. I checked my battery settings and this app didn’t even register as using up battery. ✓ Blocks trackers and adverts in all appsThis app is brilliant. Whenever I use or see a friends phone, I’m amazed at how much advertising there is and wonder why I don’t see it on mine. It takes me a moment to remember but then I do, it’s because of this app. It’s quiet and you don’t notice it doing it’s thing but it gives you the internet without any obtrusive tracking adverts. Because you can’t see it working you may wonder, is it working? Often the only clue is blank spaces on website where an advert would otherwise be. ✓ Works fantastically....I don’t understand how so many people have issues- I am currently running developer 12.4 beta, and within the past 30 days, this app has prevented collection of 1.4 gigs of data on my device. I have settings changed to “Agressive” and even with that, my Gmail is fine. The only adverse effect i have is i cannot click on the top search engine results that are sponsored or advocated by google, the hyperlinks will not work, and a few emails do not load (mostly advertisemen emails). No big deal for me, It’s an easy workaround for the benefits this app provides. ✓ Generally goodI’ve been using it for many months and have been consistently surprised at how many accessed it blocks, usually without my noticing any missing functionality. Over the past 24 hours I have noticed it blocking Gmail. I’ll see a notice on my phone that I have some number of unread Gmail messages, but when I go into the app it is unable to download any mail. This went on for several hours before I tried turning Privacy Pro off. A moment later all of my Gmail messages were downloaded and I turned Privacy Pro back on. This has happened another four times since then on multiple WiFi networks. ✓ Does what it says, read the fine printsOnce installed as 7 days trial if you touch the information button (i) then the Read More section it tells it all: it is a VPN in the sense it does handle traffic but for DNS and http (unsecured) only. Owning the DNS means when a tracker is called the backend VPN server recognizes its DNS name and kills it. If you open an unsecured web page (http, not https) it will tunnel it also to protect it from prying eyes. All the rest of your traffic will run normally out of your current IP address. This app will NOT hide your IP, will not unblock geolocking, it is not its purpose. I think the name « vpn » is misleading, as technically this is a VPN, but tailored to act as a privacy shield, not as a pure VPN destined to hide your source IP address and location..Version: 1.4.4

The app has now settled down to regular updates and functionality continues to be top notch. The number of ads it suppresses is simply staggering and the tracker reduction (which I have set to strict) destroys all Google and Facebook links. EFF suggested Privacy Pro and it seems to work invisibly. My main browser is Firefox. ✓ Seems to workInstalled on iPhone and does not appear to negatively effect functionality of phone. Did not notice any dramatic improvements in page loading times. App provides a comprehensive list of trackers both blocked and not blocked. Would really be helpful if app explained why some were blocked and others not. It would also be helpful if app provided information about which apps on phone were responsible for the trackers and also links to what the trackers are so we have more information as to whether we should block. ✓ IOS Family sharing stopped working** Updated my rating after successful and speedy interaction with support. The app is once again performing as expected. Kudos to Codi in support who shared a direct fix with me. ** Been successfully using this for a year and a half. Recently, after an update of this app on her phone, it no longer sees the family share and asks her to upgrade to a subscription. I have checked that our family share plan is configured properly and other apps are available to her. The description for this app still says it supports family sharing, so either that's no longer true or there's a bug in the latest version. Both our phones are up to date on iOS 14.2. Hers is an iPhone 8 and mine is an iPhone 11 Pro. If I can't get this resolved I will be canceling my subscription and finding an alternative. Not happy :(.Version: 1.6.1
