Too Good To Go: End Food Waste for Positive User Reviews

SarasotaThis was a fun experience for me. There are companies on here I wouldn’t often go to, or even know about! I was introduced to a new small local Italian deli that I have never been to. I bought some meatballs and marinara while I was there and loved it! It was a great value and it made making dinner easy peasy! It’s a win win! It’s free advertisement for the company because I have been telling everyone about it and for me it was like getting surprise gifts (yes I paid $ for it) but it was a small amount of $ and I loved surprise bag of stuff. I would love to see more companies near me do this. I love supporting local! I did learn that I couldn’t pick up until my given time, actually I could do it 10 minutes early. This was due to how the app works, not the company..Version: 23.11.11

Amazing for people without dietary restrictionsI’ve done two Too Good To Go pick ups now and there are so many excellent options in my neighborhood (probably 50 participating stores within 2 miles). So far for $4 each I’ve gotten 1) a really nice wrap and a fresh green juice and 2) a big assortment of pastries, bagels, and muffins (12 items total for $4!). Both orders went smoothly from browsing to pick up and they’re a great value. I love this idea and the execution (at least in my area where there are lots of options) is exceptional. The only “downside” is that you can’t adjust for dietary restrictions very much (there’s a filter for vegetarian, but not for allergies), but I feel like that’s just the nature of this sort of service..Version: 22.1.1

Great app and value for moneyI’ve had a great experience so far from the app, I make my partner sandwich’s everyday for lunch but with this app I can get things from greggs/Paul/other sort shops for the week! One bag from greggs I was handed 2 crossaints, sausage roll, 2 hot pastries, 2 donuts, the lady also offered me another bag whilst I was in there (it was a Friday it was in the city and they don’t open on the weekend) where she put a tuna sandwich, chicken sandwich more pastries. In the end I ended up giving some to the homeless on my way home as I felt greedy with all this food for £2.95! I think it’s a great idea and for the time we are in currently with cost of living, it does help people. Like other people have said it’s the shops that give you the crappy stuff, once you have one bad experience or ongoing bad experience just don’t go back there! 😊.Version: 23.4.10

Love the concept, would tweak a few things!First and foremost, I want to say that I really do love the concept from this app. While I have only gotten one bag thus far, I did enjoy the selection of donuts that I was able to receive. Also, there’s a good deal of restaurants near me which provides a great selection to choose from. Here are the cons— (1) I am unable to see any reviews. It would be helpful to know why a restaurant received a lower or higher rating. For some reason, the app will just give the rating and pick out the good things about the restaurant but that doesn’t help me decide if I want to purchase. Was the food not good? Was the quantity not good? Was it customer service? These would be good to know before purchasing. (2) I honestly don’t know why they even have an allergen section because it provides zero information, it might as well not be on the app. I get that it is a surprise bag, but there should be a way to receive some information, even if it’s “a majority of the products contain tree nuts”. Alternatively, if I could specify my allergens and the restaurant can approve or deny based on what they individuals selected. Something should improve here..Version: 22.9.10

Love the idea but…Love the food and service and I am hoping this helps to contribute to food waste at the same time but I am not sure. My observations only…the few places I visited (with this app ) where the ingredients could have been refrigerated and perfectly safe to use for another day may seem to me that the local biz is trying to acquire new customers through a low cost initial visit. Nothing wrong with this and I hope they are not paying high cost to be on the app. If this is the case I rather help the local biz by paying full price. A local biz around my area who is not on this app is known to have unsold food at the end of the day at a steep discount to local customers. This way when I buy at the end of the day I know I am helping food waste..Version: 21.6.1

Timing is key but the quality of food and money savings is worth it!This app saves both money and time! If you’re not a picky eater, but need to eat healthy at an affordable rate, this app is for you! While there are tons of stores on this app with a variety of food, what makes this app so good is when you find the few that work for your daily schedule and diet. These deals are generally later in the day (understandable), but for you that might include staying at the library an extra hour or hitting the gym right before or just enjoying the city a bit longer - which is probably what you came to nyc for. Include TGTG pickups at the right time and you can use it as a motivation to maximize your time in the city! It’s also a perfect app for scheduling your meals and recording your diets. Research the stores a bit, test some things out, and begin to schedule your daily routine with the right food and the right stores (price will always be on your side). The only ask I would have would be on the user experience. When it comes to filtering, I wish I could filter based on time. I would also love to have a personal page where I can keep tabs of my favorites instead of it just being one of the many generic lists. If you make it a more seamless search engine and personalized experience, hardly anyone can refuse the deals and quality of food..Version: 24.3.0

Amazing !!Best thing i have found since moving to London !! This need to be worldwide.Version: 23.11.11

Complicated for vegetariansI understand the left over process cannot predict whether there will be vegetarian food or not, I worked on the service industry for 7 years. But there has to be a way for restaurants to be able to accept a certain amount of likely vegetarian meals that can be potentially cancelled if there are none available. I can’t digest meat, so I either have to contact the restaurant independently outside of this app or risk throwing the food away. This app is doing a great service for the waste of the food industry, but there has got to be some possible way to enable vegetarians to use the app, without instantly limiting them to a minority group of already trend restaurants. C’mon, like a place called hummus and pita isn’t likely to have a vegetarian meal..Version: 21.6.3

Great app but improvements necessaryI absolutely love this app most of the time. I’ve had many great bags, especially from Morrisons and Costa. It’s a fabulous idea and I’d love to see more in my city! However, some functions could be made much better. For example, adding in a typable review option alongside the rating so we can see what exactly customers have picked up. Also, personally it would be beneficial to set up an option to get notifications when your favourites go on sale, because avid users of the app often miss out despite being passionate about food waste because the bags come on at random times. It would also be helpful to remove shops who no longer post bags, because it makes feed messy with old content..Version: 22.1.0

A must to save money in torontoI got a $30 value for $6. Breaded fish sticks Steamed veg Fresh cut cantaloupe Chicken salad Biologique gummies.Version: 21.11.0

GREAT COCEPT!!!!So, the idea of this app is awesome. I without a doubt, am rating 5 stars. I do feel a few things can be tweaked. My general area without having to travel is mostly pizzerias and bagel shops, which by no means is the app’s fault. But I’m not going to travel to pick up a meal at 10:00 at night. Like I said though, not the app's fault. While we see how many stars a establishment got, the one thing I would like to see is, actual customers reviews. While bags can differ from day to day, a review can give a future customer if the quality of their bag was good. For example, a pizzeria by me, loads their bags up with physically very old slices of pizza that appear to be from that morning when the place opened while another you would swear they just took it fresh out of the oven. But that’s it, if you could include actual reviews for actual establishments, that would make the app perfect. Keep up the good work..Version: 22.7.0

Be carefulHave to be careful with what foods you get. And the places you go. In one bag I got food that was so old I was unable to eat.I also found a some glass in the bag. It had to be thrown out. And I throw out $3.99 with it..Version: 22.4.0

Wonderful idea and funI got this app and didn’t use it a while until I did one day to see what it’s about. I did wenzels for my first go and I got so much!! It was wayyyyy worth the £3.50. I had to give things to friends and family because there was just so much. But of course that’s not everytime but either way you get more than you would pay for at the shop itself. It’s such a wonderful idea for food to not go to waste as it’s better for the environment and the companies as well as the moral value of not wasting edible food. For those being angry at the app it’s not the apps problem if your magic bag has bad stuff in it, it’s the company you bought it from, and the whole point of this is to save food from the bin because companies can’t sell or give food away that’s past an expiry date or cooked on that day, even tho it is still completely safe and edible. I’d highly recommend the app, other family members have started to use it because of my recommendations and it’s just a fun experience even if you do it once due to the surprise factor of not knowing what you’ll get, and it’s quite cheap for most places..Version: 22.1.1

FeatureApp - Disappointed with the latest software upgrade you still don’t allow us to copy & paste the address of the shops. It looks like you’re either encouraging people to walk which make sense if it’s doable or drive. The later, pollution & traffic is already bad enough. Give us the copy & paste address or link it up to public transport please; CityMapper, TfL Go, Journey Planner etc. TGTG - The concept itself is great. Won’t lie, there are shops that sells item that is no longer in good condition. Or you get plenty of same stuff in a bag, worst if it all expires on the same day & there’s only little hours left. It’s all lucky draw really. Just spend when you’re willing to “take the risk”. If you’re lucky, you’ll save a really lovely meal or get decent groceries..Version: 23.2.10

Such a great appThis is such a wonderful app. I have loved using it and gotten so much food through it. I love the map feature and searching based on your location. I love that when you click on a stop you can have the choice of google or Apple Maps to get directions. It makes it so easy. Purchasing and picking up seems to be so easy. There are a few things that I think would make it better. 1. The sorting options should show you things in order of the pick up time. I got out of a work training yesterday and wanted to see if I could grab dinner anywhere. There as an option but it took me a while to search through. I’d love to see an option to see the items listed by pick up time. I would spend more money on here if it was quicker access. 2. I feel as though I have to look through multiple locations to actually see all the different places that are offering food that isn’t sold out. I don’t even know if the Browse shows them all or not. I wish there was one spot to know I was visually seeing them all. 3. I wish there was a way to hide stores you don’t like. I will never order from this one donut shop in our town and they have 3 locations. I don’t like their donuts and yet every day I have to scroll through their listing for multiple of their locations. I wish there was a way to just hide the company as I will never purchase from there Again these are all things that would make me buy more and use this more. Great app and concept and I love it. Take my money!.Version: 23.11.11

Great idea for reducing food wasteI was sceptical at first as I thought it would largely be iffy looking old food.... but I couldn’t be more wrong! Everything is really good quality often in date still just on the edge so the cafes and shops will not be able to legally sell it when they open the next day, but it’s still perfectly edible. Always get items worth at least double the value of the bag, often much more. I used to work in a supermarket mainly restocking short date bakery items and I was always appalled by the sheer amount of food waste when we couldn’t sell stock before it’s use by date... so this is a really nifty solution! The app is tidy and really easy to use, and the company send really useful tips and tricks by email so this is one I am happy to be on the mailing list for..Version: 21.3.1

Great initiative and important to supportThis app aims to address the huge waste issues that we have and gives the consumer a chance to support directly with retailers. I love the magic box concept, especially as someone often paralysed by the sheer choice of food on offer. Being given no choice is ironically sometimes the most liberating of experiences. The amount given in the box is often generous and retailers genuinely seem to appreciate the support reducing waste. In terms of app design, there are some improvements to be made: namely, the home page should ideally be a default list of options of food according to locality and time so you get a quick scan of what’s on offer. It feels over complicated at the moment with too many options and repeated offers. That said, there are good search options but would prefer a simple default. The other issue is being able to add a built in reminder beforehand and calendar event easily. Would be good to have that as an option immediately after ordering rather than just sharing via social media. Overall, a great app that has led me to explore more of my local area and shops, making me more likely to try them out in the future..Version: 20.8.0

Great app to reduce waste but Mixed feelingsI am 100% supporting the goals to reduce food waste and happily satisfied with the food from many biz who are happy to do the right thing. However, I don’t support rating the participants unless there is something wrong with their food. I have got food from different places but found that some of them were rated low just because the amount of food was smaller than others, even though it was still over 50% off. I believe quite a few people are rating the biz like yelp and Google. I feel bad if the ratings hurt the biz owners feelings while they are doing whatever they can to help save food and also make us happy to save food and the cost. Another thing I noticed is that the exact time to check their availability was added in recent updates which is most likely the cause of ridiculously high competition to get the limited amount of mystery bags from popular stores… I hope the time of release would be kept secret so that everyone has chance of getting one by luck!.Version: 22.5.0

Great concept and good dealsThis is a really fantastic idea for companies to reduce food waste and it works. I’ve saved 7 bags with 2 to pick up tomorrow. It is trial and error, and there will be some retailers where the bags are terrible value and some where you get more than you expected. You have to try a few different places and get a feel for it. However, because it is totally dependent on the surplus stock on any particular given day, you will sometimes get lots more for your money and other days get much less which can be disappointing, as it’s not consistent, you expect to receive the same amount as last time but you don’t - but you’ve paid the same price. Sometimes it’s cancelled altogether. It cannot be relied on for putting food on the table. Because of the nature of the app, you can literally get a bag full of 30 lettuces that expire today. Which is no use to anyone - there should be a way to encourage retailers to offer variety. There are some retailers in my area with reviews less than 3 stars - I think TGTG should be investigating to understand why that is and if necessary, removing the retailer from the app as the app shouldn’t be used by businesses to rip off customers..Version: 23.10.1

Barley Farm - EcclesThis was the first time using the app. I was a little worried about collecting. I thought I’d have to explain about the app. etc, but there was a really lovely, friendly girl at the door. I got my phone out to show her, but she immediately asked, “Is it Too Good To Go?” I said it was. She then said I had to register for the Track & Trace app. or if I preferred, that she would bring it to my car. She was so lovely. I should have got her name so I could tell her manager. The food was in a large plastic box with a clear lid, and had a generous selection of vegetables, roast potatoes and mash. I didn’t have to wait long. She asked before she went to get it if I had anything I didn’t like. I said “plenty of meat please, it’s for my son” She explained that you don’t get meat unless it’s the end of service, so I guess this means if there was a later collection time slot. All in all, a good experience and I would use this service again. Lovely customer service from the young lady on the door..Version: 20.9.2

Fast and easyThis is a great way of saving food which is still very much eatable a chance to end up in people’s stomachs. Wish there was a way to get recently expired or soon to expire or near best by date products to people who could really use them like the growing Homeless population many cities including Dallas, Texas has. And stop penalizing companies and incentivizing them to give these products to homeless shelters without fear of being sued for out of date but still safe to eat food. If I had a big enough vehicle I would help collect these products for distribution to the various homeless shelters around the area. Contact me if I can help. Let’s help feed our local in need. L.F.O.L.I.N. We’ll work on the acronym.Version: 23.6.1

Minimizing waste while allowing you to expand your palateToo Good To Go is just that too good of an app at what it does, which it aims to do in minimizing food waste. While the premise of each purchase is that you will receive fair market value equal to what you purchase, there is the inherent uncertainty and with it gamble that today the store you bought a surprise bag from will have lots of leftovers. As for the stores themselves, this app allows for them to minimize food waste, make a few dollars off of their leftovers, and reach a potentially new demographic of customer who at first try that store via this app but over time can become a new loyal customer. I believe in the idiom “waste not, want not” and with this app and how it seeks to achieve its purpose, I am convinced that TGTG has found that right balance in doing its part to help reduce food waste. Indeed, I kinda feel like a 5-star rating does injustice to the wonderful work that this app seeks to do..Version: 23.10.10

❤️this appIf you have never used this app before then you need to get on this quick. Some people have this preconceived idea that something like this is for scabby people picking up scraps. Believe me when you see what you get you will realise that this is not the case. Most people who I have seen using the app and collecting the dinners, have said what an awesome app it was because it’s allowed them to get something cheap, hot and yummy and they don’t have to cook dinner or wash up any dishes and that if they went to the shop, it would probably cost way more than what they have paid. I have literally witnessed people picking up the mail bag and jumping into an amazing car, like a Mercedes, Porsche, Maserati. So no, it’s not people with no money, it’s people with sense..Version: 23.5.10

Great idea, execution is based on the retailerThe idea is simple: restaurants & other retailers have food that is perishable - if it doesn’t sell, toss it! Usually not because it’ll spoil, but because quality standards demand it. The retailers who get it set aside the “spoils” at the end of the day & make them available here at a big discount (think “day old bread store” but for a lot more than bread). But there are some who just use this app as a gimmick to get customers to come in & try them out. You’re not saving anything - they just give you things off the shelf like any other customer, and without much in the way of savings. Once I get those, I just avoid them going forward. Still, for the ones who get it, this is an awesome app! I’ve had meals I’d never have ordered on my own, & my kids have tried pastries & bread products they’d have never eaten otherwise!.Version: 24.3.0

A great idea but…I love the idea of reducing food waste (and saving a few pennies along the way) but I was pretty disappointed with my first bag. It was from a local garage that has an M&S shop, so all the food was M&S (great!) but it was 10pm and all use by that day! So although we kept tomatoes and doughnuts, the spaghetti carbonara, chicken wrap and peppercorn sauce have all gone in the bin today because we weren’t sure if we could safely eat them the day after their use by (not best before) as they contained chicken, cream etc…. A great idea but a bit flawed - the company can probably now crow that they are saving carbon but in reality half has gone in someone’s home bin! Perhaps companies could be told to ensure they distribute the food before most people’s normal dinner time? Not many will make a meal at 10pm..Version: 21.10.1

Some Good to Go, some not so Good To GoI’ve used the app for around a month or so now with mixed results. Sometimes the magic bags have been well worth the money, others have been OK and a minority have been poor value. In those that have been just ok, mainly supermarkets, the items have already been reduced in price, so could have been bought in store at that reduced price for less than the cost of the magic bag and only you only have the items you really want. In a minority of cases, the magic bag has worked out to be the same price as buying the items directly from the establishment. Not really what this app is supposed to be about I feel! It would be helpful if more detailed reviews were available for the individual establishments in the app..Version: 23.2.10

Revolutionary. Delicious. Excellent. It’s an absolute brilliant idea to reduce waste not only that but it’s a cheap and a delicious way to get your favourite treats. Whilst my first time ordering got cancelled due to I assume a successful selling day for the business i had chosen; I did successfully and eventually acquire my second attempt at ordering. Whilst there are plenty of choices in my area, not always do I see certain places with magic bags available and if there are, they sell out very fast so you have to be quick. You have to regularly check to see if anything is available however It’s good that this app doesn’t have notifications because I do think it could be exploited somehow by the same people constantly; it’s definitely a fast first come first serve but it’s fairer to do it this way. So far just off my one order I’m pleased with what it has to offer. Whilst I might have got 3 of the same sandwiches it was beyond delicious I also had another sandwich and a cookie just for only £5! Value being £15 and I definitely think it’s value for money. I suppose each place could be different but so far I’m overall impressed by this app I just hope more businesses will join. Wouldn’t mind kfc end of the day bucket full of chicken 🤣. Highly recommend this app but I also don’t want it to become too popular because that might mean less opportunities at great food at a great price. 😅.Version: 22.2.0

Do it for the principle not the money and your winningThe thing is right, some places like greggs for example give you your moneys worth and you are saving the food from going in the bin. Some places use it as a way to get rid of stuff that would go in the bin if not, it reduced rubbish for THEM basically, but you are still doing your bit and stick it in the compose bin if not rather than a bin. 90% of the time we love what we get, and I would absolutely say it’s value for money. But some places like the spar and garages I’ve found give just rubbish in the bags, so those we chock up to a bit of a waste of money. Either way we are saving food and we can compost it, or for example, we don’t really eat vegan food so if we get a greggs bag and inside there are vegan products or anything in general that we don’t like then we comment it on our local community page for free. Sometimes people take us up on the offer..Version: 22.3.1

Brilliant! We have collected a few ‘magic bags’, Morrisons, Starbucks, a couple of local businesses and Spar shops. The Spars have sometimes cancelled due to no availability- but always in good time. Everything has been amazing for the few pounds we have spent. We’ve just had a lovely meal from a local chippy for £2.00 each and would happily go back and pay full price. It would be really good for anyone on a tight budget. We live in the middle of nowhere and our choice is quite limited but I would imagine in a town or city you’d be spoilt for choice. Bearing in mind it’s leftovers people need to be open minded with what they get. We have batch cooked carrot and coriander soup as we got quite a lot of both from one bag and we’ll make broccoli and stilton soup tomorrow for the same reason..Version: 22.6.0

Waste of timeI used the app for the first time today and was really excited that my local big budgens store is selling bakery and veg/fruit bags. Ordered 2 bags £1.99 each. Walked more than a mile at night and store had no idea what I am talking about. Another girl had the same problem. Manager came and she had no idea what we want and never heard about the app. So wasted my time, paid £4 not to mention walking at night. And even then app was saying that bags are available for collection and you still could buy them. And sent me invoices for my purchase like I collected products. Why you advertise that there is 3 bags available if store manager says that she never heard of it and has nothing going out of date? More communication would be great. Thank god I didn’t choose a restaurant 3 miles away Update: why it shows that I rated it 5* if I gave 1*?!!!.Version: 19.5.1

Amazing app for saving moneyThis app is easy to use and food is extremely cheap. You can reserve multiple “surprise bags” and save good restaurants as favorites. Overall I’ve had a great experience. I will say that if you are a picky eater or have a lot of dietary restrictions, this app is not for you. You reserve a bag ahead of time and get whatever the restaurant or store has leftover at the end which can vary a lot. Also orders can be cancelled at the last minute if the restaurant sells out. This is all spelled out in the app before you order anything so as long as you read carefully, you should have a great experience. I paid $5 for a bag of pastries easily worth $20-25 and they were DELICIOUS. I’d suggest ordering 1 surprise bag from a few different places and seeing which places have the best deals and best food and understanding that it might be a little hit or miss at first. Excellent app!!! I look forward to even more restaurants and stores participating..Version: 23.3.10

So HappyAs someone living paycheck to paycheck I absolutely love this app for still being able to get freshly made food and drinks and still not go crazy with a budget. It’s extremely easy to pick a bag, check in on your phone, and simply show the cashiers. My only issue with this app is that some of the family and friends I recommend this app to do have allergy issues. One has a tomato allergy and the other has a peanut butter issue that can’t consume anything that touches it. And while they generally eat anything else besides that, it would be nice to be able to give a store a heads up in advance. Even if we like surprises and mysteries for the bags, it would be nice to at least make sure we can at least try to avoid some allergies..Version: 23.12.1

BrilliantThe collective "we" needed this! I’m so glad it’s a thing! I know how much restaurants and big arenas waste food and other products. Here in this app you will find places to purchase food that’s fresh and healthy at the end of their business day … Delicious and or new to you. It’s full of discovery! The place of business gets to make their money back (thus you are supporting a local business to stay in business helping keep your neighborhood thriving) and YOU get to purchase some thing at a low rate that’s good to eat so it doesn’t go to waste. I actually even found a few places that I didn’t even know about in my local area just because they are a part of this. It’s been a win-win + a great experience for us. Get yourself a salad or some baked goods for a fraction of the price. Great for students, people on a budget, a person on the go. We've all had a variation of this idea at one point or another….and Too Good To Go executed it—wonderfully! I highly recommend it to anyone..Version: 22.8.01

Outstanding!Used the app for the first time today and was amazed. It’s simple to use and navigate around. Unfortunately I live in a smaller town so there are very few restaurants or cafes signed up to the app, however, I knew this was likely before downloading the app. I’m happy to say that one of the local stores that has signed up is a very popular bakery. I choose to purchase one of their ‘magic bags’ today. After reading the reviews, I was aware that the contents of a bag could be pleasing or disappointing, depending on the store. I therefore kept my expectations realistic and thought it would contain a sandwich or perhaps a croissant or two. Boy, was I wrong! I left the bakery carrying two bags containing two sandwich croissants, a sourdough and prosciutto sandwich, half a filled baguette, a cinnamon and raisin swirl, a bagel, a focaccia loaf, two farmhouse loaves and eight seeded rolls! All for just £3! I will definitely be using the app often and happily!.Version: 19.8.1

Mixed reviewI like this idea, sometimes we get some great bits and sometimes alright bits, I have often found that most of the food is out of date the same day I buy it, we will only keep it until the next day, if bread goes off, the birds get it, if the veg becomes risky it goes in my composter. I have found that when I get sandwiches they get eaten for supper. We often get a little treat of some sort, that gets eaten that minute. Sometimes what we get in the magic bag is just extra food that we wouldn’t normally buy and sometimes we get food that will supplement a meal. I has helped my regular food last at bit longer and often it hasn’t. We do love to get a bag and see what is in it. We have tried some different bags from different types of shops to see what we might get. It is always worth a try. Don’t expect a meal from greggs but I would expect a treat or two..Version: 21.10.1

Fantastic initiative, should be the norm. Usability could improve. The concept of this app is great. Food waste is a massive problem and bringing awareness/sustainably reducing it is great! T he one star docked is only because (as other reviewers mentioned) the filters and map variables could be greatly expanded. Things like keywords, food sensitivities, and better options to section/parse the map would make the user experience much better. Encouraging vendors to list/update their offerings would make customers easier to find (and vice-versa), and it’d be less overwhelming than browsing the many dots on the map. Basically: You find restaurants with extra food, and pay for it at an extremely reasonable price. Every place I’ve gone to gives a really generous amount of food for the cost, and can last a couple days especially if it’s a bakery or grocery store (disclaimer: I’ve been at 90%+ rated places so far, so it could be hit or miss). Needless to say it’s amazing for those on a budget, and it’s benefiting small shops as well. I really hope this concept becomes widespread because we waste so much while many have very little..Version: 21.4.0

Great! Ignore the bad reviewsThis app is actually really good. A must have if you think yourself environmentally-minded. Easy to collect and no embarrassment. I just wish more shops would sign up as it’s a win-win for everyone. I think some of the people leaving bad reviews are missing the point - if you’re expecting the exact same meal/ your favourite items you would buy from the place then of course you will be disappointed! The idea is that you buy (at a very reduced price) food that no one else wants in order to stop it going into landfill. And if you live in a village then don’t be surprised if there’s not as much going as in cities. Also, driving 100 miles to pick up a bag of food is not good for the environment, just check the app every now and then and stay local..Version: 21.1.1

Hidden GemThis app does two great things at once- you get food for a discounted price, and restaurants waste less food each day. I have picked up 7-8 packages from restaurants using Too Good To Go and it’s a great idea that’s starting to catch on! I have been satisfied or extremely satisfied with each of the surprise bags! The food is the exact same that they sell, nothing wrong with it at all, it’s just surplus! The only things you should be mindful of are: food is to be picked up at a certain time (usually when the restaurant is done with their busy hours and are soon to close); you can’t make requests for what food you get (whatever they couldn’t sell that day gets put in the bag). I can’t wait for this to catch on across the world..Version: 22.12.1

Don’t understand negative reviews?I’m a college student so when I first heard my friends raving about this app where you get delicious discounted food, I knew I had to see what it was about. This app is amazing! I do live in Chicago so there are over 100 different options every day! I get whole meals for 5 bucks at most and the food lasts me the whole day even the day afterwards. If I just need a quick pick me up I go to this app and can get free pastries for 3 dollars or donuts. Some places even give drinks! Seriously, I have nothing but good things to say about this app and I hope more people can try it out so it becomes more normalized. With the inflation, and sky rocket of prices at grocery stores/ restaurants, this app has helped me save so much money it’s insane. Forever grateful to have been told about this.Version: 23.1.1

Great app & idea, would love Gluten-free as a filter optionI discovered this app today and I’m so excited! Grocery prices are outrageous right now and having the option to save money while also keeping food out of the landfill is so wonderful. The app is super easy to use and the options are pretty diverse. This is such an excellent and timely idea and implementation! I was really surprised to see that when presented with options to filter choices there is an option for vegetarian and vegan but not gluten-free, even though several of the businesses have gluten-free options listed in their online menus and society is embracing gluten-free eating in growing numbers each year. My final critique is that even though there is a tab to click labeled “allergies and ingredients,” there are never any listed, just a generic message to check with the listed store. It just seems like if your surprise bag regularly contains a major anaphylactic allergen like eggs, corn, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, dairy, fish, or shellfish, that could be added to the generic message to save lives, plus save time and energy for all involved. When selling food items, it’s the expedient and responsible thing to do. For these reasons I felt like I could only give four stars for now..Version: 23.12.0

App is great but some places don’t give muchThis app is awesome and my complaints aren’t their fault hence the 5 star! However, I will say there are places that are consistently cheaping out! For example I had zero degrees twice! It stated $12 value and purchased at 3.99. I ordered it, and came to pick it up. I got a cup of tea. On their menu tea was like $4 so I basically just paid for menu price without picking what I got haha. I thought it was a one off and ordered a second time and same thing. Cup of tea. I understand I am saving it from getting wasted but there should be some way of tracking which places should be taken off TooGoodToGo, or to have us read the comments we submit before other people order from that location. Besides that I would say the app is great and helps save food while getting a good deal on it! (Most of the time).Version: 22.2.1

Concept is good but app needs workI like the idea and concept of this but the app needs to be updated and changed. For example, I don’t like that I can’t hide or remove places I’m not interested in that are in my preferred area. It’s super annoying how they keep popping up.It also continues to give me preferences from 12 to 5 AM or whatever it is when I’ve selected I do not want to see those in my feed..Version: 22.5.11

App changed my lifeMy family likes to save money and we usually go to Costco. We no longer do that as often because we use TooGoodToGo - we use this multiple times a week and are happy to finally support our local merchants. We would never be normal shoppers but this now introduces us to them and we feel the need to now perhaps patron them since they offer too good to go. Also, my wife doesn’t like the meals, she thinks the best deal is groceries. I agree - it’s fundamentally changed how we shop for groceries but honestly donuts are so good and a quick meal when it’s just me finding something to eat. I’m not picky! Keep up the good work Too Good To Go - we’ll use you for life!.Version: 23.12.1

Hit & Miss foodI’ve used this app to buy food from Costa Coffee, Greggs & Dobbies. At first it was quite good with a selection of different foods in the bags, then Costa gave me a bagful of which if I was having a party would have been great but we couldn’t even give them away b4 they were stale which kind of defeats the object, greggs did exactly the same 2 bags of nothing but cakes and finally Dobbies, I picked up 2 bags from them and as soon as I had hold of them I knew I’d been taken for a ride, it would have all easily fitted into one bag and what was in there was disgusting, dead herbs for a start, I could have paid the full price and got fresh stuff, I complained to the app and they were not too happy once they saw the list and photos of ‘food’ so they refunded me the price of one of the bags (thank you to them for that). Haven’t used the app since..Version: 21.3.1

Nikita sharma"As a user of the Too Good To Go app, I've been impressed with its mission to combat food waste by connecting users with surplus food from local businesses. However, I've encountered a couple of barriers that have impacted my experience. Firstly, the limited availability of participating businesses in certain areas has made it challenging to find nearby options for rescuing surplus food, particularly in less densely populated regions. Additionally, the variability in surplus food availability and selection has sometimes resulted in inconsistent options, making it difficult to rely on the app as my primary source of food. Despite these challenges, I appreciate the app's efforts in promoting sustainable consumption practices and look forward to seeing improvements in its accessibility and consistency.".Version: 24.2.0

Making a Difference Bite by BiteToo Good To Go is a standout app that's revolutionizing the way we handle food waste, seamlessly connecting users with local businesses to rescue unsold food. It's smart, simple to navigate, and offers an incredible variety of options. With each meal you save, you're not just getting a deal; you're contributing to a greener planet. It's an effortless way to make a difference—and enjoy some delicious discoveries along the way. Having used the app for a couple of months, I've noticed that in a 20 mile radius around Pittsburgh, participation is limited with only 2 businesses on board. While the concept is brilliant, a wider network of participating businesses would enhance the experience and impact of this eco-friendly initiative..Version: 24.2.10

If in doubt try it out you can’t loseSo far I’ve only had three suprised bags of groceries. My first was Aldi Chester Road it wasn’t my first choice but was still available when my coop had cancelled Hopefully due to not having food left Was is a good box yes but not necessarily for me as it contains a lot of bread items which was wasted on me buying just for me but even taking the bread out I still had more than my moneys worth My second box again not from my first choice coop but the one at The Radleys way better for me as a lone person and would defo go back again in a heartbeat the staff were lovely oh sorry so where the ones at Aldi and both stores carried my boxes to my car as I’m on arm crutches Then last night I actual got to try out my local Coop Shard End their and back in less than ten minutes lol A good selection I have posted what was in my goodies I took a bag in with me then I hadn’t got to worry about carrying a box but I’m sure Luke the others would have carried it to my car if I’m nitpicking I’m my other two boxes I had some fruit but everything else I would / will use So go on give it a go as even if meals / meet produces are same day freeze them and use them when ur ready I will defo be back will I try a bigger store again like Aldi maybe not if so much bread but another night could be totally different If I’m doubt just try it out what u got to lose !!!!.Version: 23.7.0

Love this appI look forward to my next surprise bag. Great experience with the grocery store. Apps is simple to use. Great value for the money. Love the idea of not wasting food. North Americans waste a lot of food..Version: 23.4.0

Very impressedHeard of this app from a friend three months ago, immediately thought it was a wonderful idea. I downloaded the app but unfortunately there wasn’t many choices around where I live at the time, so I uninstalled it after a while. Three months later, decided to give another go, and I am very impressed this time. I am now able to collect magic bags from local supermarkets, bakeries, and café. The sheer amount of food I can get with such small amount of money exceeds my expectation. Although I may not like every item I get, but I’m not a fuzzy person so happy to go with luck. It also makes me think of my previous behaviour on food wastage, and in addition, changed my attitude towards grocery shopping. The food collection process is very smooth and almost painless. I will definitely keep on using this app and recommend it to all my friends..Version: 23.2.10

I’m addictedIt’s like eBay but worse because it’s local.Version: 23.11.10

How does Surprise Bag offer sell out every day within a second of offer?Generally very very happy with the entire concept of Two Good To Go. It’s an inexpensive ( mostly) fun food surprise. If it helps with food waste ( maybe) even better! The single thing that perplexes or confounds me is the stores that offer surprise bags at a designated time “check back later at 9:16” , for example. I have attempted to acquire some surprise bag offers for weeks at the designated time, but no matter my “readiness” to pounce on the offer, it sells out instantly. I am saying instantly- turns say 9:00 pm & the surprise bag is gone by 9:00:01 seconds. I am sure that people, maybe the same people every day? Have figured out how to set up the transaction for instant purchase. Maybe the business is only making one offer, however it is still instantly gone every day. Not quickly, instantly. Perhaps I am just not quick enough for the very popular offers, other than that I enjoy the whole idea of TwoGoodToGo very much, it’s quite a clever concept..Version: 23.12.1

My app of the yearI think your success with this app will vary depending on your location. So far I’ve had great success but I’m fortunate to have a lot of local, independent cafes, bakeries, and coffee shops. The items I’ve received have been amazing and I’ve saved so much money and reduced food waste at the same time! A lot of stuff I’ve also been able to freeze, extending the life of the items even further. I’ve had a couple of orders get cancelled by the store because they had nothing to give, which is fine, but would prefer to be warned sooner. I was already in the car on the way to one of them. Ignore the reviews who complain about food being past their ‘best before’ - that’s the whole point of the app! “Best before” doesn’t mean it’s not safe to eat. You may have challenges if you suffer from allergies because you usually have no idea what you’re going to get. My son, who is allergic to cows milk, hasn’t been able to eat anything we’ve had..Version: 24.1.0

Brilliant appHad my first “magic bag” last weekend. Loads of delicious food for a very small amount of money. Only negative was that the collection time slot moved to 30 minutes earlier than originally set by the business within 40 minutes of the original collection time(was meant to collect at 8:30-9:00 pm update came in at 7:50 pm that the collection time was now 8:00-8:30 pm). So it ended up being a rush to get to the place on time. Improvements I would suggest is making the collection time change option longer. As people prepay it’s not always possible to just drop everything with 10 minutes notice. Another thing I would really like is the option to setup my own alerts, e.g. if any of my “favourites” become available so I don’t have to check the app constantly..Version: 20.1.1

Really misleadingI can't speak for all food places but can only imagine the same or similar repeating elsewhere. A burger shop (Bunk Burgers) described 'wings and burgers' that you could rescue. Wings being a side this clearly indicated to me that I get a burger as well as wings - great! I go to the shop and they hand me the tied up bag which I returned home with only to find I was only given wings. No burger at all. It looks like shops are advertising all their best this things then giving the cheapest items they can get away with. Part of the Too Good To Go concept is that you get no choice or say in what you're given. That's understandable if it's only leftover food that'll go to waste but not reasonable if you go home with sides everytime you order a dinner. I don't even think those wings would have gone to waste - they were made fresh when I went in. The price I was charged is almost the usual price considering it was just wings. To them it's just another deliveroo or just eat style order. Quite misleading. --- Update: The Too Good To Go customer service has refunded this purchase. I can't fault the service received from them. Will try again perhaps with a different restaurant and maybe it'll be a different experience. Changed to 5 stars for now..Version: 19.1.0

Good idea but system needs work and better standards with some storesI like the app but why on earth is there not a search facility to search for your favourite stores as it takes ages to set up a favourites list by going through every store listed in your area.(and keep having to redo it as new stores are added). Also I have visited several branches of one particular retailer and 2 were excellent and the others not worth bothering with. Some ask you if you have allergies and try to accommodate , and make sure a good variety of food - others don’t. Also some branches calculate cost of bags at original full price whereas others calculate using reduced to clear price so often you get more than double depending on which branch you use. Very disappointing visit to a cookie shop in a shopping mall recently when I received a small bag of broken biscuits all mixed together obviously calculated at individual cookie price so not worth it as could get a multipack of cookies for £2 more in perfect condition and select your favourites. Could’ve got twice the amount of perfect cookies for the same money at M&S so that was a very bad buy and wish I could’ve warned other customers not to waste their money..Version: 22.5.11

Great idea , needs improvements on the appFirst of all, I want to say that the app is for such a good cause. I have downloaded it a week ago and have used it a few times, and each time has been a good for me, hence the 5 star rating. Some feedback for the app that I think that would benefit the experience: - Leaving reviews on different stores, I have had some varying customer service and quality of food given. Informative reviews such as images of food given to give an idea of food etc and not complaints to the company. - More of a description of the restaurant, such as images of what they do, sometimes I am skeptical to order from a store as I don’t know what they offer. I know that it is a “goody bag” but an idea of what to expect would be nice. - Option to categorise foods according to restaurant type. Etc Japanese food within Xkm to my area. Sometimes I would like to have a certain type of food on the day and would not mind travelling to a certain stop on the way. - Not something that you can really change on the app, but sometimes the staff of the restaurant have no idea about the app, so it can be quite awkward to collect. Maybe more awareness could be made for it ?.Version: 19.4.0

Fantastic!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I’ve been using this app for about three weeks now and I’ve tried several different shops and cafes in different locations. I can’t fault the app-it’s really easy to navigate and the food has been great. I live very close to several coffee shops and restaurants-the down side to this is that I mostly stick to the same places when I’m out and about. With this app I’ve been able to try lots of new places and discover and support local businesses I didn’t even know existed! I’ve picked up bags of food and desserts to the value of £15-£20 for under £5! I’ve only had one bag that I didn’t think was that great-it was a boxed up meal from local shop which I thought was quite small. When I asked what was inside they just said it’s vegetarian-but it tasted really good and the staff were very friendly. I’ve mostly used bakeries and coffee shops so I get lots of pastries bread and fancy sandwiches which is great for a family on the go. In terms of developing the app-I would like to have the option to take my own packaging and inform the shops that I will be doing this. The app does state that you can take your own Tupperware but the shops have often already boxed and bagged everything up when I arrive..Version: 19.6.0

Not that great to go more likeI have had this app for a while but it’s took a few months to be able to obtain a “magic” bag, what a load of rubbish it was, it says on the post you get a mixture of meats bakery items eg cakes and bread fruit veg, all sounds really good. So I finally get to reserve a bag at a local spar shop, got quite a big bag, me thinking nice one I’ve got a bargain here, back in the car, can’t wait to get home to see what there is, Well opened the bag 24 wildlife tube yoghurts , out of date the same day, considering it was 8pm that day by the time I got it home, the kids ate a couple rest in the freezer not sure if you’re supposed to, I also got pate, a tub of single cream, 2 chocolate trifles(mini ones) 2 profiteroles and soggy tub of melons, all of these had already been reduced to between 20p and 90p and out of date that day and the last thing was 12 tiger rolls, reduced to 90p each 6 pack but were already 2 days out of date The price was £3.09 for £10 + worth of food, all the reduced stuff was barely £6 at the most and I feel like I paid £3 to just got get a bag of stuff to put in my own bin instead of the spar shops bin, definitely would not be going there again, I see so many people get good stuff I feel conned I must say.Version: 21.1.1

The story of how my life changedI was once so melancholy and broken hearted from the upsettingly unwanted events that appeared in my depressingly miserable time of existence, when suddenly, the intelligent brain that I somehow equipped at an impressively youthful age, thought of the most wonderful, marvelous, magnificent, delightful, tremendous, sensational idea the population has ever even comprehended, to download this most heavenly app from the gods; when this episode occurred in my life, I thought to myself, these words exactly "Oh, golly gosh! I have reached happiness at last! mummy fetch me parchment and a quill at once! I must write a review immediately!" and so I did. As a gift for being so immensely superb, I have written a poem for you: Every heart's a hurricane Each souls a starlit sea Every minds a meteor Unbound my gravity And everyone's wishing They could learn to tame their tides, When nothing more than nature Is what' echoing inside Thank you, I hope you enjoyed.Version: 22.8.10

Brilliant. This app is brilliant and good for people on low budgets who like to eat out and try different places but can't afford to. We have so far only used it once and that was with a pastry shop. They give you a set time when you have to go with your bag and then they fill it up with what ever is left over and not sold during the day. We got fresh bread, cheese rolls, pastries and a fresh bread stick and they would last a couple of days and are still very fresh when you take them home even more fresh then the sandwiches that I have brought from supermarkets. I highly recommend people to take a look and give it a try. The only tip I have is you need to check early each day to get the best places or they sell out..Version: 18.7.0

Great App, Cool Concept, Great Customer ServiceReally cool concept, amazing when the restaurants do it right. There are a fair number of restaurants that don't really understand the point, but the app has a rating system to sus out bad restaurants. And the customer service from TooGoodToGo is phenomenal. Any problem you have with your order and they'll give you a refund within a day. The app works great too, although it would be nice to see what other people have gotten in their bags. This app should be used everywhere. There's no reason extra pizza slices or pastries should be thrown away at the end of the day, and no reason restarting shouldn't still get a little money from it. They're rapidly adding more restaurants in my area. Very exciting..Version: 23.7.10
