The House of Da Vinci for Negative User Reviews

FrustratingGood in parts, but a lot of the puzzles I completed without knowing how I did it. I just made random movements and click. I am totally stuck on the astralobe thing the clues just keep repeating themselves and are pretty useless. I thought I had completed it and gained the star which I inserted into the pulley mechanism then nothing it just keeps telling me to go back to the astralobe which I have a dozen times. Can’t move on and the clues are useless. Very frustrating game. Ok I have reset the chapter with the astralobe 3 times the hints just seem to be stuck in a time loop can’t move on at all even though I appear to have correctly guessed the play. I am loathed to go back and restart the game as some of the puzzles were tedious and were only solved by random repetition not by skill. Having been an avid player of the room series I had high hopes for this. Have downgraded purely because I cannot see a way to finish this game. Ok have finally finished the game, concept is good, some of the puzzles are so repetitive you lose the will to live and the clues are not very helpful. I would suggest that in future you get a few novices who don’t know the game, to play, to show up the weak spots. Will be interested to see the next da Vinci game in what is obviously a series. Concept is good..Version: 1.0.6

Too many glitches!I have had the game for 24 hours. It looks beautiful, but it is awkward to play with delays where you will complete something and have to repeat it several times for it to “take.” Other times you complete something and get stuck because it is unclear what to do next. For example on the catapult, I easily got the bottle image lined up, but when I zoomed out nothing happened. The hint said “when you turn the crank you can arm and fire” but nothing told me how to do it. After watching the instruction video, which said to turn the circular wheel on the left of the catapult, I tried and nothing happened. I was stuck and gave up. When I tried later, I found that I could just push down the trigger on the back right of the catapult, and it worked. Really annoying. If you love the ROOM, I would think twice before buying this. I quality of play just is not nearly as good and is oftentimes aggravating. Disappointing. (I am playing on an iPhone - the same one I played all the ROOMS on with no problems.).Version: 1.0.8

Confused logicI am only giving this game three stars because at times I found the games “confused logic” difficult to follow. At times navigating the game was rather clumsy. Some of the puzzles were challenging, some a bit repetitive and some achieved purely by blind luck. Overall I found the game more frustrating than challenging and a bit of an anticlimax at the end. If I had played this game before having completed the room however I would have awarded it four stars. Blue Brian have achieved a gaming experience to be proud of. Very stylish to look at and well crafted it stands on its own merit. Would I recommend it? YES will I buy and play the next one in the series. Yes. Thank you!.Version: 1.1.0

Infuriating NavigationTrying to navigate through the game and interact with the environment is infuriating..Version: 1.1.0

Poor execution of a clone of the roomMaybe if I hadn’t player the room I might of enjoyed this but hard to beat the polish of the room series this was awkward and the mechanics were finicky and off putting and the hint system terrible most of the time it was a step behind and it was not figuring out the puzzles that was the problem it was getting the angles to work properly Was not impressed and had to put it down what a shame they went to all this effort but didn’t hit the mark.Version: 1.0.8

MehI really didn’t like this game as well as The Room series. It doesn’t seem as intuitive, meaning you really need the hints each time to progress. Touch screen isn’t as accurate either; I found it hard to make small manipulations to items and swiped out of the game accidentally over and over..Version: 1.0.8

Ok but...Having played the Room series I was looking for something similar. Well, this is similar. Certain controls and features should immediately remind you of the rooms. Some of the puzzles are interesting, no doubt, and keep you busy for a while. The graphics are generally good and detailed. However, as others have already mentioned, several of the various environments are far too dark, you can hardly see a thing if you are playing during daytime! And do not attempt to play it on a normal-sized phone, this is to be played on a larger screen in my opinion (you just cannot see enough on a small screen!). The navigation controls, zooming in and out, were what really annoyed me. Too many times you want to zoom in a bit further to seek and see the important detail - but the game won’t let you. Other times the game zooms out too far after every step, it wastes plenty time and does not feel like an explorer would move and, well, explore. I’ve now finished it. It took some time, so well done to entertain me - and to drive me up the wall occasionally. But will I play the sequel? Most certainly not..Version: 1.1.0

Not as good as “the room”This game is really good so far- I haven’t been playing too long... but it’s just not as good as “The Room”. Those games the controls are much better, the over graphics.... for example. If you’re “investigating” something in the room, it’s MUCH easier to move things around, turn keys, pull a drawer, slide a secret item, move something that isn’t obvious etc. This game it takes me SEVERAL tries on the same items, (like sliding a secret moving piece) before it actually moves... so you kinda have to tap tap around the screen. With the room saga, it’s SO MUCH EASIER to navigate, pushing, pulling, turning, moving items like you’re really there. These games are fun because they’re hard, the items aren’t obvious... but if they aren’t obvious and aren’t responding to us trying to move them, it gets so frustrating using hint after hint for them to tell you the item you’ve been TRYING to move, moves. Could just be my download? Not sure. I hope it gets fixed!!!.Version: 1.0.8

Frustrating to tap on things and use of colours to resolve puzzlesSo, I am finding this hard to complete for the following reasons. I tap on items and it does not zoom in I move items but they do not move....then after a while they do...sometimes going in and out several times. Puzzles in colour matching. Not great for us colour blind folk. Currently stuck on one puzzle as the colours all look the same!! Certainly not as good as the room gets a B..Version: 1.0.8

No SoundGame is awesome but there’s no sound at all, so 1 star until I get some sound, would be an easy 5 tho.Version: 1.0.8

Not The Room, but not bad.I enjoyed it, but I found it didn’t run as smoothly as I’d like a game to. Also, the clues were annoying as they would not keep up with your game play, or, not provide some further direction..Version: 1.0.5

Feel disappointed :(Yeah it's similar to "The room" games. Not quite as good. At times camera controls seemed awkward to control and clashed when trying to move objects. Small things like 2D flat graphics of a key hole on a 3D box seemed disappointing, so did having to complete the same puzzle twice for a different outcome put me right off. What really let this game down was that the game story is unfinished. With a message of "promise" that the game is finished soon.. For the price you would think you get a full game,it felt more like I was testing A beta version of the game.. If you miss a good puzzle game like the room and can afford to waist some cash then this is ok, But if your debating to get it... Well hold out until it's bugs are fixed and it's a complete story game..Version: 1.0.1

Starts off well but doesn’t quite make it...A beautiful game, superb graphics and excellent puzzles (if a little obscure at times), this is well crafted and thought out, the last puzzles were infuriating as there was no real clue as to what I was meant to do. What let’s it down? The ending, lacklustre and one of the biggest anticlimaxes in any game, it ended and I thought ‘is that it?’ You were left hanging in mid air with no real conclusion, a great shame as this showed so much promise and would have been a worthy adversary to The Room. Hope there is a sequel and that I will be able to give it 5 stars, this should have had 5, it had the potential but fell at the final hurdle, a real shame. Play it for the excellent puzzles and superb graphics, just don’t expect much of an ending..Version: 1.0.5

No way to contact developers rip-offI would have preferred to contact someone rather than leave this review. It does not work but still they took my money :-(.Version: 1.1.0

Art is great, game.. meh..I was looking for a good puzzle game to play after having finished the room series again, and came across this in the App Store. For 6.99, I was expecting the same quality. Art-wise, it’s definitely beautiful, but the mechanics in the game are frustrating. I like to challenge myself to not use the hint button at all while playing but absolutely could not do that here and it wasn’t for lack of trying. I encountered one bug where it took forever to get in the right angle to click on the decorative rotating puzzle on a tomb (which I didn’t even understand to be a tomb because nothing before that really made the place I went into seem like a mausoleum as much as a hidden passage) and after rotating it, nothing happened. I clicked the hints multiple times and it was unhelpful saying I should change numbers on a tower.. A tower that never popped up because the game glitched, and I only knew this because I had to search google… The game is scattered story-wise and there is no immersion because you forget what the story even is while trying for ages to complete finicky puzzles that sometimes work first try, sometimes work after 8 tries clicking on the same areas, or having to reload the whole game. Another UI gripe is trying to manipulate the objects in your inventory or some of the puzzles requiring you to rotate stuff. I spent 5 minutes in the opening puzzle with the doorbell trying to rotate the thing so that the thing would pop up, but every time I’d accidentally swipe outside of the millimetre they give you, I’d wind up moving the camera and undoing progress or even swiping out of the game completely. That kind of thing happened SO OFTEN. Camera angles are super clunky too, I would not be able to barely reach some puzzles because of their location. I see in some of the comments of the reviews that the developers write in a generic message to ask people to write into them directly, but for what use? You’ve seen the comments and 5 years later the issues raised still persist. Anyway, it’s not my cup of tea. I regret spending the money on such a broken game..Version: 1.1.0

Need a refundDoesn’t work! I’ll change this notice after if it work.Version: 1.0.8

Frustrating glitchI’ve been stuck on the astrolabe second part in chapter 7 because the game does not recognise the correct positions of the moon I have entered and trigger the next stage. I’ve even replayed the chapter but it still doesn’t accept the correct entries (repeatedly). It’s one of the stupider games in the whole game and whats to be repeated with the numbers / letters wheel is even more stupid. But I could still have enjoyed this game if there was a skip button here, or better yet, the developers fixed it. Now I just feel ripped off..Version: 1.1.0

Fun, but frustratingAs everyone else has noticed, this is somewhat of a blatant ripoff of the room series. But it’s also very buggy. Many times when you put on the lens, it won’t show what it’s supposed to. I’ve sat through walkthrough videos only to find that the lens shows something it doesn’t show me, unless I equip/unequip it 4-5 times in a row. The activation areas on some objects are also really small, meaning things look immovable when they’re not. Could benefit from better usability testing. Edit: I understand the difference between the two lenses. The “tempus” one requires you to draw a symbol before you can go back in time. (spoiler) But for example, in the crypt, on the side of the tomb, with the lever and Roman numerals, I would equip the “infinitum” lens, and nothing happens. Then if I repeat 3 or 4 times, I finally see the hidden path and can see what turning the wheel does..Version: 1.0.8

Wouldn’t have paidAny stars at all because there were some decent puzzles and the graphics were on point, but I only finished the game because I paid for it. The oculi tempus only worked half the time. I’d have to switch it on and off repeatedly to get the hidden mechanism to show up. The controls were inconsistent. Sometimes you would tap one thing and it’d zoom in on something else, other times you needed to tap on a very tiny spot and swipe it at the perfect angle to work. This was especially frustrating with the cranks and levers. The hints flat out troll you. (Look at the table you’ve been looking at for the last half hour. Or notice that itty bitty thing you can sort of see if you squint.) add this all to the game was actually pretty short, it really wasn’t worth the money. ETA to the developer: I did swipe for the oculi tempus specifically. I was using it correctly, it just didn’t work half the time..Version: 1.1.0

Beautiful game and interesting concept, but difficult to playI've played quite a few games similar to this, such as "The Room" series, and I've never had such a hard time playing a game. If I hadn't played so many in my time, I would think that I'm just terrible at this sort of game. However, I don't believe that is the case. The game itself is beautiful, well developed, and has an interesting concept. However, the gameplay is lacking and could use improvement. It is often difficult to tell when something can be looked at or moved, and placing objects is very hit-or-miss on where the object is dragged. When I get stuck, the hints are not very helpful either, as they confuse me even more with their vagueness. It's an okay start to a company making this sort of game, but it is too painstakingly difficult to play for me to fully enjoy. *Edit* Also, there is a section I can't pass even though I do everything all the walkthroughs I've read have said to do. Cannot finish the game..Version: 1.0.1

Pretty but not great gameplayWhile the setting and graphics are amazing and the story interesting enough, this makes for a frustrating game with my whole screen app moving when trying to activate or interact with things and objects and unclear signals as to if something is working or not. Definitely not at the level of The Room yet but I would give the second game a try if I find reviews saying that the gameplay has improved..Version: 1.1.0

Great style but lackingI love first person adventures like this one, and was sent here by the room series and myst. I love the look and the gameplay is similar to both those series with a few minor issues. While the puzzles themselves are not overly complex, the guidance of what you are supposed to be doing is sometimes unnecessarily vague. SPOILERS Early into the game you encounter a globe. You are expected to put different words into mechanisms in the globe. The clue looks like each word goes in a specific hemisphere, but the locations on the clue and the actual globe don’t line up, forcing trial and error. Once the globe is open, there is a RISK style puzzle but the rules given are vague and seem arbitrary. These frustrations mean the game feels more like a grind than a true puzzle, and this is fairly early in. I am still playing and will update if it gets better, but for now I feel a little disappointed..Version: 1.0.8

DisappointingIf you are familiar with the original “Room” series, half way through playing this game you will realize why that series is still considered the leader in this category. The one thing that sets The Room apart is how it elicits a WOW response in the player. There are so many times when solving a puzzle and watching an amazing result brings on an almost giddy feeling that is, for lack of a better word, delightful. Too many times in this game I felt that it had become a drudgery and solving a particular puzzle was a relief and not a delight. Several chapters dragged on and on and took way too long to complete, leading to more of the feeling of drudgery. Add to this the quirkiness of some of the puzzles that leave you completely confused about what is to be accomplished, and the needless requirement for high positional accuracy in others, and it leads to less than warm fuzzies for the game. The “ending” of the game comes as a complete surprise, as it just suddenly stops after completing one of the puzzles. It’s like the developers did not know where to stop so they just threw in an epilogue and called it good. It really made no sense and felt incomplete. If you’ve never played the Room series, you will probably like this game quite a bit, as it is challenging. But if you’ve come to this game through playing the Room series, you may very likely feel the way I did when complete. Disappointed..Version: 1.0.8

Desperately needs a puzzle reset optionAll in all, enjoyable and creative puzzles. More than once I found myself several moves into a puzzle and finally starting to understand mechanics and rules, only to find myself hopelessly down the wrong path with no hope of returning to the starting arrangement. Some puzzles reset for you, and some don’t. I don’t understand why. The only way to restart the puzzle was to restart the entire chapter. Awful. Most of the puzzles are just hard enough; I relied on a number of hints just to get myself to the right next step, although every so often the hint was so obscure I found myself looking up walkthroughs. There were a few puzzles that I just couldn’t figure out the arbitrary rules; the “Risk” game being the big one that stands out. Your army goes up…or down…depending on…um…some entirely decipherable reason, I’m sure. As others have said, The Room is the original and the one to beat. But this was a nice diversion. Start with the room if you haven’t already. If you want more, try da Vinci..Version: 1.1.0

Not the room. But not bad either.I downloaded this thinking it would be much like the room which I thoroughly enjoyed and rated with 5 stars on every game. Unfortunately whilst this game has many similarities, I found a bit of clunkiness in controls and got frustrated a lot... but not in a good way. More, I know I have to do this and I’m pressing the right thing... but nothing is happening..... until by some fluke it works! I like the links to Leonardo da Vinci but the story was not as gripping as the room story lines and I thought the use of people ruined the mysterious explorer feeling that you get with the room. I gave up reading letters and stuff in the end as I felt a bit bored by them and they weren’t used for clues much like in the room. In fairness, I would likely give this a better review had I not played all the room games - as it’s actually an ok game. But because it’s very derivative from the room, you can’t help compare it. It needs to either be more original, or do a better job of living up to its rival. I’m a big horror connoisseur so I felt the room was darker and creepier in a clever discreet way and this was aided by the music. These are all aspects that this game lacks unfortunately. I wouldn’t say don’t play it, and it will certainly tide you over until the next room comes out - but don’t expect it to give you the same satisfaction as the room 😉.Version: 1.0.8

The catapult section is beyond painfully pickyI was enjoying the game until I got to the part where you must aim the metal sight on the catapult at the glowing target on the wall. The idea is fine but nearly impossible to do because you need to be zoomed in on the crank that moves the catapult to move it, but then have to zoom out to see where it aimed. This would be fine if the screen was locked but it isn’t so you must swipe upwards to see the target again, which allows you to move the view of the catapult and target in any position, so you really have NO IDEA where you actually are aiming in relation to the crank! Even when you manage through infinite fussing back and forth to get it where you think it’s perfect, you must double tap on the wheel to zoom in so you can arm the catapult, and this tiny motion is enough to throw your aim off again. During the past two days I’ve shot at least 25 rounds and 3 even went straight through the target and nothing happens. Unless someone can get me a work around this is where the game ends for me. It’s very disappointing as I prefer the point of the game to be figuring out the sneaky nuances, not aiming something on an IPad..Version: 1.0.2

Very obscureThis game is very obscure - many of the tasks make no sense at all & hints take a long time to appear - Many tImes I though I would never have figured that out if not for the hint - ewven then I still had to look up walkthrough stuff via google - I have played all levels of the game called The Room (which this is a bit like) but the rooms puzzles actually make sense unlike many in this game..Version: 1.1.0

Good game! Very unoriginal. The House of Da Vinci is a very well done game, with only minor control issues every now and then. I managed to get through it in about four hours and I was impressed about just how tight it felt. The problem comes in the lack of originality. Now, I've been a fan of The Room series from the beginning, and this game is the most blatant copy I've ever seen. The Oculi that you receive in the first chapter are clearly direct rip offs of the Eye piece from all three room games. The first of the two Oculi even allows you to see inside and manipulate machinery, which is almost exactly what the upgraded eyepiece in the room does along with letting you see things invisible to the naked eye, which is also something the first oculi does. Although the second Oculi is more original, and I did quite like the time travel theme, I wish it had been used more often. Several times throughout the game I have seen many objects that look almost identical to ones in The Room, especially in the Crypt when you get a particular key that bears a striking resemblance to the Craftsman's Key from the third room game. Now, this isn't to say I didn't enjoy this game, in fact, I quite like it. I would love to see a sequel, but I would advise a little bit more originality. Maybe ditch the first Oculi or make modifications. Overall, I do recommend this game..Version: 1.0.1

DonGood game but it keeps bugging I van Never finish the game. I am alwails stuck ta the catapulte.Version: 1.1.0

The Best of The Room clonesWhile not up to The Room series this game is the next best thing while we wait for the next one. BTW if you love this game or The Room; Checkout Myst and Riven. While not quite the same sort of game they are very close and as former AAA titles they exist in a class of their own (additionally they have made more games that not on mobile devices).Version: 1.0.8

Random restart - lost all progressGreat game until it randomly decided to restart itself. All progress lost. If you love restarting from scratch, this game is for you..Version: 1.1.0

So frustratingThere is no skip button and you can’t re-set a puzzle. some hints are not helpful at all, so if you are stuck, and tired of restarting the whole chapter over and over again, the game just goes into the garbage. Too bad, it was fun, just not functional..Version: 1.0.8

Don’t pay for thatHello, I paid 8,04$ for this game because I tried the free version and I loved this game so I decied to pay for the full version, BUT when I want to open this game it doesn’t open so I lost 8,04$ for nothing. DON’T BUY THIS GAME. You will pay for nothing.😡.Version: 1.0.8

Not quite as good as the Room seriesI want to like this game but , I’m stuck at a stage which I have re-played over and over again and over with the same result . I have searched for answers on line walk throughs and nothing no answers so I want to like the game but as I can only play half of it , I can only give it 3 stars . Just for info I’m stuck with the last part of the catapult in the workshop , no matter what I do the ball of fire won’t hit the target to let me through to the next part of the game, which is very frustrating and I’ve spent so much time on it . I also don’t find the puzzles particularly hard compared to the Room games . Usually when I buy a game I kinda expect it to be playable and few or no faults . If anyone reading this ie the game makers can help me I’d really appreciate being able to finish the game..Version: 1.1.0

A waste of my life! The display of the scenarios was far too dark, as mentioned by others elsewhere, I had to turn my brightness on my iPad way up. Rooms are clumsy to navigate, and as again, mentioned by others, too bitty and full of fiddly and often unresponsive triggers, with too many tools to open, unwind and merge for no real reason. You solve something without knowing how you did it, which is very annoying. Solutions were far too obscure and clumsy to find using existing controls. And then we had the Fibonacci sequence…really? I fear I have unfortunately arrived in ‘The Land of Geek’, woe is me! Frankly, this game is annoying and tedious. The developer may have been in rapturous glee, as he contrived (I doubt a she would have done this), his various abstruse conundrums, thinking all the time that he was far more ‘cunning than thee’. I ended up pressing the clue button again and again, out of bored frustration, usually to find that I’d already tried the solution, and that the controls hadn’t responded quickly enough if at all, even when I had stroked the appropriate area several time. No way as logical and clever as The Room series, or Fire Maple’s games, tedious is the word that comes to mind, and needless to say (but I will), I won’t be buying the follow ons..Version: 1.1.0

Clunky & poorly thought outI wasn’t expecting a game as well-designed as The Room. But for $6.99 I was expecting more. The UI is clunky and poorly designed. The hints are full of typos, items are not described properly. Often the hints are not hints but just a description of the scene. It’s like the game was not properly scripted..Version: 1.1.0

Disappointing version of The RoomThis game makes me angry. The puzzles are solid, though not quite good as The Room, but the controls are awful and unintuitive. I don’t know if the developers just hate iPad Mini users (latest generation, iPadOS 13.5), but it seems like it wasn’t tested at all. Pieces slide the wrong direction, rotating motions stop and reverse, double-taps aren’t recognized. I don’t know if the game is intentionally blocking me from doing certain things out of order, but there are times I have to try the same thing five times in order for it to work. The latest example is (small spoiler) by the tank, combining the rod and the metal end. I kept trying over and over, I pressed the hint button which told me to do the same thing, and then it finally worked. The camera size for the iPad Mini seems off, too. Certain parts of the puzzle or scene can’t be seen, and panning the camera is frustrating. If you’ve played The Room, your expectations are a lot higher. This will scratch the itch, but is an exercise that left me swearing at the application..Version: 1.1.0

Useless hints. The hints take too long to become available, and barely useful. When I was trying to open the pattern lock for a chest, the hint was"there must be something important in the chest". Are you fking kidding me? That’s your hint for me?.Version: 1.0.8

Poor mechanics and camera anglesAlthough it’s beautiful to look at, not as good as the Room series as it’s often super glitchy (e.g. you can make the right pattern and it won’t solve unless you try it several times) and often hard to get the view that you swipe for and there is a puzzle in chapter 7 that is not based on any skill, just random spinning. Not fun..Version: 1.1.0

Enjoyable and frustrating…Quite enjoyable with some interesting puzzles. Obvious parallels with the better The Room series. Puzzles are generally pretty good, challenging at times, but feel a bit clunky; on solving a puzzle, the next step can be a bit random rather than logical, requiring lots of hunting or hints. Graphics are too dark, and writing too small, when playing on an iPhone. The navigation requires some care at times or you’ll become frustrated with scenes going around in circles, or unintended drag down of the lock screen..Version: 1.1.0

Is this legal to copy as much as this company did?If it was different form of work, like music, painting, novel, movie whatever, the person who copy as much as this company did would have gone to court for sure. But look at this game. The style of graphic, colour, font, puzzle, control... nothing is new but just exact copy from ‘the room’. I feel bad for those developers and designers who created ‘the room’. They must have put a lot of effort and time to create such master pieces. Hate this company and wish they will fail soon. So gross and so toxic to society..Version: 1.1.0

Fun but a bit frustratingI very much enjoyed playing this game but I do have a couple complaints. The first is that the oculi only worked about 80% of the time. I kept coming to points where I was stuck and begrudgingly used a hint. The hint would point me towards using the oculi on a specific item, but it wouldn't work. I'd have to keep clicking the oculi on and off and by the 9th or 10th time, it would finally reveal what I should have been able to see all along. That wasted tons of time and was very frustrating. Another complaint I have is that is was very difficult to turn some of the cranks and wheels. This was particularly frustrating when trying to solve trial and error puzzles where the cranks had to be turned over and over and over again. My last complaint is that I really would have liked to be able to explore objects more freely. Movements and perspectives are very restricted. For instance, there was a chest in the upper level of the time machine level. I was only able to look at the front and it was annoying to not be able to explore the sides and the top, even if it's wasn't integral to solving anything..Version: 1.0.6

Fun, but sometimes infuriatingObviously inspired by the Room series, this is a fun game and for the most part a worthy successor. However, I have four specific complaints about things that make it much less enjoyable and immersive than the Room games. 1. The controls are far less intuitive and more frustrating. Often, when I am trying to turn something, it ends up turning the opposite way. Several times, if I don’t hit the screen just right, I can’t move a piece that looks like it should move (and in fact does), but accidentally move the entire screen instead. Then, I don’t think the piece moves, and I get stuck waiting for the hint that tells me that in fact it does. 2. Can’t zoom in close enough. When something changes or opens up, half the time I can’t see it clearly enough to figure out whether there is something to manipulate. 3. Similarly, please allow zooming in on all pieces, even if they’re not ready to be used yet. It seems like some things open but aren’t “released” for me to look at more closely until they’re ready later. But that’s frustrating. Oftentimes, something changes or opens, but because I can’t see clearly enough to know what happened, I have no clue as to what to do next or why the change matters. Please allow zooming in on new pieces or changed items, even if there is nothing specifically to manipulate on them. These things would I think make this game a lot more enjoyable and less frustrating! Thank you!.Version: 1.1.0

Cannot get to work, no supportI made it through 80% of the game overcoming the "minor" glitches. Then I encountered a glitch I couldn't get around. I asked support and on the second try they finally answered that there are no current bugs and referred me to a video. The game is not behaving like the video. After multiple tries, the game is now acting even worse and I cannot even get past puzzles that I got through before! Further questions to support have gone unanswered, undoubtedly because "there are no bugs"! I bought this game over a month ago so can no longer get a refund. I waited so long for support responses because other reviews say support is so responsive. This appears to be false, so I cannot recommend anyone buy this game. Yes, it has incredible potential and is fun when it works, but in its current flawed state is not worth $4.99. If support had helped me through the problems, I would have overlooked these problems and given it 4 or even 5 stars because of how well it works aside from these glitches. Hope it improves, but unlikely if they won't even admit there are problems..Version: 1.0.1

Not bad but there seems to be little logic or reason to some of the puzzles. It’s similar to The Room, but I enjoyed that one one more than this. The puzzles felt like they were trying to be too smart like they were trying to catch you out like a trick question rather than make you use logic and reasoning to solve the puzzles. There were parts of the game where even once I found out what to do from the online help, there was no way I would have logically put information together to get to that conclusion, rather I would have had to simply rummage round in the dark, or rather with the special lense. Also the ending seemed rather abrupt and with no conclusion as to what did happen, I guess I’d have to buy the second one to find that out. Guess I’ll never know!.Version: 1.1.0

I was looking forward to this game but....I was quite disappointed. Having played all The Room games, this is just like it in a sense. Same concept, different story, which to me wasn't the disappointing part since I love The Room. The graphics are quite good and it has potential except that it's full of glitches. I can't get the oculus to work. I had to go on line several times to see if I was doing something wrong but after following some videos step by step, I still can't get the darn thing to work. I kept going back and restarting the chapter, but that seemed to make things worse. I'm playing on a iPhone 7+. Things seem a bit disjointed at times, and I found that in many occasions I couldn't achieve a certain action unless I waited for the hints which took forever and were very vague. At his point I feel like I wasted $4.99. To people thinking about downloading this game, I say if you haven't tried The Room, please get it all three of them! You will not be disappointed. Much more smooth than this one and more logical to play without using hints. The Room will be having a new game by the end of '17. I'm looking forward to that. And to Blue Brain I say keep working on the glitches. And be more original. It would be great if you could make something as great as The Room but not so identical to it. Thanks.Version: 1.0.1

Beautiful and promising but too frustrating to finishThe graphics are beautiful and the music is delicate and amazing. The game mechanics are so finicky and frustrating that I have given up on the game several times because I’ve stopped enjoying it. Yes, it’s similar to the Room games, and that was why I purchased it in the first place. I love puzzle games, I looked forward to the overall storyline, the game is beautiful (if a bit dark on an iPhone 7+ with up to date iOS) and the music suits the atmosphere perfectly. The main difference for me is that the Room game mechanics are effortless and mostly intuitive. I rarely had any experience in any of the Room games where I was frustrated just trying to move a piece along a track. In contrast, this game is tetchy, finicky, and fiddly. I don’t know that I would call it buggy or glitchy, but maybe poorly programmed. The hint system is endlessly frustrating too. When I got tired of trying to fiddle with some puzzle piece or drawer or slider, I’d give in and check a hint only to be told something obvious I was already doing. It’s a beautiful game with soothing music but I’m deleting it from my phone because it’s not relaxing to play and I’m tired of struggling with it. It’s almost there, guys! Let me know if you decide to smooth out the mechanics of it and I’ll gladly try it again!.Version: 1.0.8

Good in parts but not for me.Like others I was looking for a game like The Room series. At first glance this looks and feels very similar. The graphics are excellent and the atmosphere relaxing and pleasant. Many of the puzzles are set at a good level that were challenging without being too difficult. Some aspects however, just frustrated the life out of me. Some actions just didn’t make sense, didn’t flow and had no logic to them. I relied on the hints far too much, as I would just not be able to get what it wanted me to do. On occasions I’d get the hint only to find I’d been doing the right thing, but it just hadn’t worked so I’d moved on thinking the action was incorrect; several attempts later it would work ok, which was really frustrating. Other times the hints just didn’t help and I’d be looking online, which isn’t how I want to play a game. As a result I’m afraid I’ve deleted it as it wasn’t smooth enough for me. Give the lite version a go though. It might be ok for someone else’s way of thinking..Version: 1.1.0

Lack of colorblind mode detracts from otherwise solid gameThis is an entertaining puzzler in a similar style and approach to Fireproof Games’ ‘The Room’ series. However, it’s hampered by the eventual appearance of a puzzle that’s impossible to complete if you have one of the most common forms of color blindness. While this used to be a common issue, most studios have learned that it’s trivial to add either a ‘colorblind mode’ or to simply add other shape-based or pattern-based cues to puzzles, and there’s really no excuse to not make accommodations for this. For the dev’s reference, the puzzle in question is the gem puzzle in the Crypt chapter. If you can’t tell the colors of half the gems you’re supposed to place in the right place, it’s no longer frustrating as much as it is infuriating. If you can’t see the colors, you can’t even look up a walkthrough or guide to get past- you’re just done. I’ll see if I can’t get a friend or family member to handle that for me..Version: 1.0.6

Almost, but not quite!Seriously, this game is flawed. Some of the puzzles are plain tedious, hampered by a poor interpretation of translating 2D movements into a 3D perspective. Other puzzles seem to have no discernible logic in reaching their solution, or it is so subtle you can't determine what it is. It's a game which could have used a little more time to smooth some rough edges, and I wonder how much testing of the gameplay was actually done. As for the hints given within the game, some are just plain misleading, a case of too much familiarity on the part of the developer, hence stating something which is not as obvious as they think. There's a good game in here, just waiting to break free, just not there yet. I rate the game one star because of the frustrating user interface more than anything else. Its very frustrating when you know what you want to do, but end up wrestling with the interface, rather than enjoying the gameplay..Version: 1.0.1

Needs a little work, but not that badFor the type of puzzle game this is, you couldn't go through this and not compare it to "the room". The mechanics are a little clunky, and it can be hard to find stuff without hints, but the story is unique, and with a time function- there is some contrast to "the room". But, for what seems to be their first go at this style of game- its pretty good.Version: 1.0.6

Great if the oculus device workedCame to this game because I love the Room series and so far I like the game but have to play it whilst watching a gameplay video of it as a LOT of the time I’m missing stuff because despite me using the viewing devices it doesn’t show the secret stuff unless I toggle them on and off and /or approach from different angles. It annoys me that it works first time for the person in the gameplay video which is using a PC. Also I complete some puzzles but it doesn’t trigger a response so I need to reopen the game and then the response has been activated. I’m using an iPhone 11 and it’s not ideal..Version: 1.1.0

FrustratingNavigating the fussy, unintuitive controls is much more difficult than any of the actual puzzles. Expect a lot of double tapping things that look like objects you should be able to interact with, only to zoom in on something that is nowhere near where you tapped. The small details you are supposed to interact with are indistinguishable from the small details you can’t interact with, so it’s frustrating to figure out what specific thing the game wants you to do. On top of that, the hint system is a complete troll. I’m at a part where it’s obvious that I need to do something with a desk. There are two inkwells that look like i should be able to focus on them, but I can’t. After a minute, I get a hint that says, “Maybe I should check the desk”. Thanks for that. I like the art style, and the story has potential, but the controls are too irritating to make it worth going through. A sliding block puzzle where the blocks just absolutely refuse to go where I want them to sealed it for me. If you have ever played a game from The Room series and thought to yourself, “I like this, but it would be better if the controls were sloppy and frustrating to the point of being unplayable”, then House of Da Vinci is for you..Version: 1.0.8
