✓ Not user friendlyI have an iphoneX and this game is not user friendly at all on my device. The writing is so tiny and you can not zoom in on the words to make them any bigger. You tap on things that are sparkling and it will not let you view them along with the game loosing game pieces on the screen causing you to have to leave the area of play and come back to see the pieces again. ✓ Glitches still intact.Buyer beware, this game is clunky and for me unplayable and I have a brand new IPad. My guess is it is not compatible with more up to date systems. If you are using an older one, then you might be able to enjoy this game. Either way, I wouldn’t pay for it. If you are looking for a good puzzle point and click game, I would look up Blue Brain games, The house of Da Vinci. Now that’s an excellent game! Honestly, I’m sure it was a good game for it’s time. ✓ Mysteries of the Past: Shadow of the Daemon by LynxMinxThis game was developed by Blue Brain, and I had never heard of them before. Obviously now I know why! This game had some redeeming qualities, but it certainly was not what I would say was fantastic. There were multiple difficulty settings. You were provided with a cohesive journal, which included notes, objectives and your map. The map could also be accessed from its own tab, and at least it was a marked teleport map which enabled instantaneous transport between locations. There were no morphing objects or collectibles, which suited me fine. The storyline was one we have encountered many times: an evil being stealing the life force of human beings to gain immortality. The graphics were of average quality, and at times it was difficult to find inventory items because they were so small. Inventory was labeled, but there were no complex items to assemble. The HO scenes had NO ZOOM feature, making them tedious to play, especially when items were practically off-screen! They consisted mainly of word lists, replacing items in the scene or finding pairs. The puzzles/games were mostly garden variety rotational types, jigsaws, and codes. Nothing was exceptional or extremely exciting. However the game was a decent length inclusive of the bonus adventure with a plethora of tasks to accomplish at each location. For the price it was a decent time waster. I didn’t encounter any glitches. However, this game seemed quite dated (no zoom, no complex items, boring puzzles and HO scenes) so to me it was merely average. ✓ UnplayablePretty upset that I paid for this. The premise is good but the game is super glitchy. Inventory is not very compatible with devices that don’t have a home button and the touchable areas are often too small. I was dealing with it anyway until the second chapter, where I literally cannot click the last item in a hidden object game. I even looked at the walkthrough to make sure I was doing it right. Clearly they have not QAd this game for the newer versions of iOS or for devices with a high resolution. Since it’s a paid game I would expect much better. ✓ Entertaining at times but needs workI am always on the lookout for new developers and adventure games. When I saw Shadow of the Daemon referenced in a review for another game, I was happy to give Blue Brain a try for $2.99. Unfortunately, unless they significantly improve quality in future games, I probably won't buy another one. That said, I was impressed by the result given their choice of Unity as the software platform. It is very difficult to build a game as complex as this with Unity, and they clearly have strong programming skills. However, I think Unity is also responsible for some of the technical issues, including heavily pixelated cut scenes and erratic cursor selection. The game runs fairly seamlessly with the exception of infrequent but sudden re-loads; some of these were unfortunately timed and interfered with user experience. Other issues I suspect are unrelated to Unity. The hint system is inconsistent, often directing you to two different places at once. There were mechanical problems with some of the minipuzzles, which were otherwise fairly easy; for example, it was impossible to select and place the segments of the padlock design. Most of the game features and controls are rudimentary. The map is a basic layout that labels rather than illustrates the various scenes. It enables teleportation, but does not indicate active tasks. There are no collectibles or morphing items. Difficulty is not configurable, and there are sparkles everywhere. There is a journal that captures your progress at a high-level, but the camera shown on the screen adds no true value. I could not find a strategy guide. The HOPs do have variety, and I like the type where you return items to their proper places. At times the story drags, but there are also moments of real suspense. There are several hours of gameplay, although the "bonus chapter" isn't a bonus; it's the last chapter of the game! For the reasons above, I can't recommend Shadow of the Daemon. But if you do play this, be sure to watch the credits that give thanks to "wifes and girlfiends" among others. :-).Version: 1.0.3

✓ Frustrating InterruptionThis game was enjoyable with an engaging storyline until I got to the forest and then couldn’t find all of the hidden objects. Perplexed, I caved, and when I looked at a walkthrough, I discovered that I didn’t have the full screen option turned on in the game, and so some items weren’t even visible to me. The game would not let me turn on the full screen (there was apparently the option to do so, but when I clicked the button nothing happened), so I can’t finish the game, and I was just getting to the good part where the magic seemed like it was about to begin. I also noticed that there hasn’t been an update to this app in 4 years. I feel very frustrated and disappointed that I paid for a game I couldn’t even play all the way through and that I wasted so much of my time getting to the forest. I downloaded this game, because I had just finished The Da Vinci House by Blue Brain Games (absolutely incredible game) and expected that this game would be awesome since it was made by the same company, but not if you have a newer operating system. ✓ Not workingI have just bought this for iPad pro and the graphics are not sharp and the game has stuck. In the very first hidden items section the ladder is missing a step. I can see a piece of wood but cannot pick it up or use the hammer for anything. I have tried to exit and do something else but the filing cabinet drawer is missing a file and if you click hint it points you to your inventory which is empty. Then tried to do through a door for something else to do and it’s lo Kev. The hint just points you to the close button. Can anyone help or help me get my money back.
