Informed Delivery® for Negative User Reviews

Doesn't workDownloaded the app and started my account some time ago. I never have gotten a single notification of any of my mail, letters or otherwise, no scans. I complained to the post office and they gave me the explanation below, but no solution. Again absolutely does not work. Thank you for participating in Informed Delivery®. You recently informed us you have not received your notification emails. Only letter-sized mail processed on USPS® automation equipment will be imaged; not all letter-sized mailpieces are processed through our automation equipment. There are also instances where automated equipment is moved or shut down temporarily for maintenance. In some rare cases, pieces of mail may overlap when the image is taken. Any of these issues may result in images not matching the actual mail delivered that day..Version: 1.9

Used to love but now...This app used to be fantastic. I could see my mail and packages daily. For the past few days, I can’t see any of my mail on the app. I know the mail is there because it shows up when I log in to the website, but nothing is on the app. I don’t know if this is a glitch, but there are currently no updates so I know that’s not the problem. The whole reason for downloading the app was so that I didn’t have to type in a website then type in the log in info. If I’m going to have to use the website anyway, then I might as well just delete the app altogether. Update: the app started working correctly again for about 4 days and now the service is unavailable...this is getting ridiculous!.Version: 2.3

Useless. Cannot get past login pageI’ve used the informed delivery website for years, so I already had an account. After entering user name and password (which is barely visible since they put white text on a white background), I was sent to a page asking for my mobile number to send a verification text. I entered the phone number and the app said that there was an error sending the text. At the same time that the error message was sent, I received and replied to the verification text from usps. Nothing else happened. I even tried using another telephone number and the same error occurred. There is no way to move past the text verification screen, which makes this app a complete waste until this bug is resolved. And if you are thinking of trying to use informed delivery on the other usps app, don’t bother. It only redirects you to a web browser page, which you can easily access without their app..Version: 2.7.1

Waste of timeI downloaded the app, registered to track a parcel coming from USA. It was a USPS tracking number, but the app was unable track the parcel. I shall delete this, since it's useless..Version: 1.4.0

Awful awful awful!I thought this was a cool concept as it was recommended by another military wife to see when mail was being delivered by my husband while away. For me it was a quick setup and verification but it doesn’t show incoming mail, only packages. It shows you the mail pieces AFTER they’ve been delivered. Helpful if you’re not home during the day, I guess but we get the mail before the notifications are sent. I’ve also noticed a huge influx of spam calls since I signed up - 4 in 24 hours. And you have to give your phone number to verify the app. My guess is it’s not a coincidence because I never received spam calls before - literally never. Installation of this app is the only thing that has changed..Version: 2.2

A Welcome Tool But Needs WorkI get mail. You probably do too! My mailbox is about 200 yards from our front door, so it’s nice to know what’s being delivered, before making the long trek, and that’s what this app does, mostly. In terms of a critique, I would suggest that the actual user interface is pretty janky on my iPhone: it’s unattractive and seems to jerk around when scrolling. Also, the upper info display is unintuitive; for example, today it’s declaring that I have “6 Mailpieces and 16 Packages.” In fact, only ONE letter is being delivered today... I have no idea what counting method they’re using to generate the other info; it seems nonsensical and unnecessarily confusing. I would suggest identifying the primary purpose for this app (be very selective!), get some UX design help, and do a reboot on this project, Dev Team!.Version: 2.4

Unnecessarily Demanding - Forget ItI installed this App because was having a tracked parcel sent from US to Australia. It got deleted very quickly, because I found that you can't do anything in this App without registering for an account - why is this required, the USPS website is happy to tell you the status if you know the tracking-ID? So just use the website, but before you even do that check your AusPost account because I found that mine had been sent the parcel details by USPS and linked them to my account presumably by a name/address match. Well done AusPost..Version: 1.4.0

Rarely works properlyMost of the time it fails to load any information. I’m not willing to sit and wait 30+ minutes for it to possibly work & show me what’s in the mail for today. Basically it’s 90% useless. The package tracking is better than the mail part, but if the USPS loses one of your packages, you can forget about receiving it, even if you report it lost. I reported a lost package over six weeks ago after waiting a month for it to arrive. I’ve yet to hear if it was found, if they’ve stopped looking for it or what. And this isn’t the first time I’ve had packages misplaced or disappear completely from somewhere in the postal service. I’ll be deleting Informed Delivery most likely. I can track packages without this cumbersome lump of an app..Version: 2.4

Repeatedly logs me out and says my account doesn’t existI have had this app randomly quit working and/or log me out at least 3 times. When I try logging back in through the app it says either my password is wrong(it isn’t because it was saved through iphone) or my account doesn’t exist(it does because I could log in from my computer) Even though I was able to log in from my computer, it said I wasn’t signed up for informed delivery(I was because I continued to get notification emails about mail that was coming) So I had to create a new account because when I tried to sign up it said I had an account after it said I didn’t have an informed delivery account(confused yet?!) This app has some SERIOUS bugs!!! I have 3 separate accounts to prove it. Also have a friend who has also randomly been kicked out of her informed delivery account twice so I know this issue isn’t just me. Nice app if it would ever work properly..Version: 2.3

Convenient App but will need to be fixedThe USPS Informed Delivery app is a very useful app; however, whenever I open the app, I would expect it to load pictures of my mail for that day (Monday-Saturday) but, loading the mail and package details are very slow or, would occasionally say that loading my mail details has timed out. Thus, if this app has been created to be a connivance to help people to see their mail peaces and package details so that, they don’t need to access the website then , it needs to be fixed for performance issues and bugs that the app has; in addition, it also needs to be IOS 11 supported for better optimization. I will keep the app installed and. hope to see an update soon..Version: 2.1.1

Waste of timeThis app is as useless as their company's poor service. They steal customers packages therefore beware and never use USPS in your life. Use any other courier company but never USPS..Version: 1.0

Seems accurate enough but it’s VERY SLOWBeen pretty accurate the last few days haven’t missed anything.. but the mobile app is very slow. I thought perhaps it was my wireless or mobile connection but other apps which are just as “labor-intensive” when it comes to pulling in information from other systems work fine. I was chatting with another person that uses the app and they said the same thing. Also sadly the new widget does not work. Always says unable to load although I’ve checked my options to ensure that I’m signed on it at all times. Even tried to stop and started with the main application not “forced closed”. And still no dice. Using latest “iOS to date” an iPhone 8. If that helps any ✌🏻.Version: 2.4

Garbage customer serviceTypical of USPS, horrible nightmare service! Now instead of crappy service at their postal locations now you get crappy frustrating online service as well! Trying to log in, it disabled my account and was unable to unlock it as they don’t offer ways to. Attempted to email an issue complaint through my cellphone but website designed so poorly that I can’t access the “send” button to email them after numerous attempts of retyping. Tried using the customer service automated phone number and almost lost my mind! The automated helper is so frustrating as it cannot understand any of my voice prompts and keeps erroneously repeating what it though I said. They phone prompts offer no quick link to the operator so you have to suffer through the voice prompts over and over. It gets them wrong every time!!!! Attempted 3 more times until it said that they were closed! I almost smashed my phone! USPS I really hate you! Please stop trying to ever do anything and just outsource to competent companies already!.Version: 2.4

I can’t get help otherwise I might rate better. For years I’ve been trying to use this service. When I put my address in it tells me I’m not eligible to use it yet and to check back at the later date. However- if I put in my neighbors address it says “CONGRATS! Blah blah. Continue to register for an account?!” The neighbors house is close enough to me that I can stick my hand out of the window and touch their house. So there is no way that they’re actually eligible and I’m not. It’s not like it’s a utility or something. The mailman could probably stand on their porch and throw my mail to me it’s so close. But any time I’ve tried to engage some sort of customer service or support, it’s a huge failure. All they know is “we have no control over eligibility. You’ll have to wait until Your address is eligible!” IT IS ELIGIBLE. ITS AN ERROR. ugh! I’m disabled and use this service constantly with FedEx and UPS. I need this to work. I’ve been paying more to use FedEx and UPS when shopping or shipping for this exact reason..Version: 2.1.1

Has problemsI love knowing what is coming in my mail, before it arrives, I also get an email with pictures. Is it worth waiting for before I run errands or heading out of town or not? The problem I have with it is the app itself. I created an account and then somehow it logged me out and when I went to login it told me my account had been disabled and then eventually the emails stopped coming too so I created a new one and now get two emails telling me what’s coming in the mail. And now yet again my new account has been disabled and again the emails quit coming as well. Definitely has some kinks it needs figured out, it is super annoying but super lovely when it works..Version: 2.4

Another useless accountYou have to create an account just to track a package..Version: 1.5

Recent bugsIt was pretty accurate until a few days ago when I opened it to find that even though I checked to keep me logged in, I wasn’t. When I attempted to put in my login, neither my ID nor my password were visible as I typed in the letters. When I try to log in, I get a message telling me that my login is incorrect. I’m still getting emails even though the app appears not to be available, so I hesitate to uninstall and reinstall the app or to create a new account. Update: In desperation, I decided to create a new account. I went through the process with a new ID and a new password, but I am still getting no visible information when I try to login, and when I try to use the new ID and password, I am again being told it is invalid. Now I’m not sure if I will be getting the emails associated with my new account or my old account or both or not. You also might want to rethink your security questions. The questions are all directed at having favorite answers to give. I don’t have favorites. Give more variety of questions that can apply to all people without the divulging private information. The app and emails were great while they were asking. Please fix them..Version: 2.7.1

What a crap app !!!!What a lousy app whoever designed this should be fired !!! Signing up was like, signing up for the military, The security questions are a joke that’s all you could come up with it’s almost laughable. What’s disgraceful s my identity was verified twice via text message and when I pressed create account it’s sat on the loading screen for two hours and 21 minutes Then it tells me after all that time that my account couldn’t be created REALLY !! Then it said try again would need to try again stupid me puts all my information in again only to be stuck on the loading screen for one hour and six minutes only to tell me that my account was not created again !!! What a waste of time 3.5 hours of my time Went down the toilet for you USPS and the kick it doesn’t even work nothing like wasting time just to look at junk mail a complete failure but then again it’s the United States Postal Service I mean what should I really have expected !!!.Version: 2.7.1

When it works, it’s ok— but it rarely works.2 stars because when it does work, it shows the packages and mail I’m supposed to get just fine. However, a majority of the time, this apps does not work. It won’t load, gives me canned error messages somewhere along the lines of “we’re experiencing some issues” “check back later” “sorry for the inconvenience”. Sometimes it’ll load the mail, but not the packages. Sometimes it glitches and won’t add packages at all when I input the tracking number. Sometimes it doesn’t update delivery dates, etc. but I can still go to the usps website in my browser and get completely different results. All in all, this app is inconsistent at best..Version: 2.4

TerribleThe app: interface is clunky. It’s beta-level quality. It will log you out randomly even if you check “keep me logged in”. The service: unreliable. I was told this morning that I had no mail coming yesterday or today, yet I got 3 pieces yesterday and 2 today. If it can’t tell me when mail is coming, what’s the point? If you forget your login or password, you will be forced to create a new login, including re-inputting your address. Then their site will fail to create a new account and won’t explain why. It will also block you from creating a new account because your information is already associated with an existing account, which they’ve locked you out of. Catch-22 time..Version: 2.3

Quit workingFoe a week it worked great, is notified me, correctly, of my mail and a package, that I wasn't expecting for three more days. Then on Saturday it showed no mail. I had become used to it being correct, so I didn't check the box. Again on Monday it showed no mail. I didn't check again, because I trusted it. Last night I decided to check if the local free advertiser paper was in. It showed junk mail except for flyers and that little paper. I opened the box, and, it was full. There were two days worth of mail in there. The app missed it all. There were three letters on bottom, then some flyers, then two more letters and some junk letters, then some more flyers and the advertiser . I know it was two days worth, because, our mailman always puts the good mail in first, then the junk. There were two layers of mail. Thus, two days of missed mail. I would say, that anything that has to be double checked is worthless. So I give it one star. Update: It showed I had 2 pieces of mail, but there was only one. It showed the same one twice. Now it indicates mail and the number, but no pic. It also does the same thing on the browser console on my laptop, so it is not a fluke..Version: 2.3

It’s a much smaller worldWith parcels being sent all over the world, surely this app could include overseas parcels.Version: 2.7.1

Proceeding toward real usability at a measured paceThe app has been working more-or-less correctly for almost a year, but the 2.6.1 release has broken or abandoned the support for landscape orientation. That's annoying on larger tablet devices. The support link within the app leads only to a general FAQ page for the Informed Delivery service, with no obvious way to leave bug reports or feedback on the app. The app would be more useful if it showed me parcel weight and class of service. My larger problems derive from the service as a whole, which still does silly things like simultaneously telling me that a parcel both will be delivered tomorrow and has also been delivered to my front door..Version: 2.6.1

New update is horrible!I really liked the previous version & would have given it a 4-5 star. I would give this a zero if I had the option! The previous version was easier to use, you could see all packages on one page, delete out delivered packages easily, see current locations and history without having to go to new page and was fairly fast. The newest version signs you out all the time even though you mark “keep signed in”. To check on packages it takes you to a new page very slowly then you have to go back to previous page again slow as Christmas. It is rarely correct on envelopes coming either, many days it now says no deliveries, yet I will have several. Bring back old version, but leave to post office to screw things up!.Version: 2.1

Works, but would like some improvementsUPDATE: Nothing has changed. Still in portrait orientation only, which I hate. You still have to open a package notification to delete it instead of simply swiping it. During high volume mail time (think Christmas) I want to easily delete notifications, in fact I always want to easily delete notifications. I took away one star because these are easy fixes. —————————————————- I’ve been using this app for several months now. I think overall it is sufficient and does what I need it to do. Recently the app started to work only in portrait instead of landscape. Ugh, hate it! Also, please allow me to more easily delete delivered packages. I should be able to just swipe them to remove instead of open that item, then remove from dashboard. I do appreciate this app and the improvement that the USPS is making to inform me of coming mail and the ability to track my mail..Version: 2.6.1

Can’t even use without a 50 minute drive!I got this app installed and verified quite easily. But it won’t let me use it until it gets an identity verification. I get that and appreciate the security! So I give it a try. It gives me about 6 multiple choice questions about where I’ve lived and worked in the past. For each question, there are 4 actual choices and one “none of the above”. On EVERY QUESTION, there was nothing that identified where I’ve lived or worked. After choosing none of the above for every question I was told that they cannot verify my identify online. I either wait 72 hours and try again or do it in person. I live out in the boonies but I do make the 20 minute drive south to town a couple of times a week. So I click on that option and discover that the local post office (in a city of 10,000 people) isn’t one of my choices. The nearest one is a 50 minuets east of here!! This is crazy! At least give me a list of places I’ve actually lived to choose from!!.Version: 2.1.1

No coverage in Brooklyn?!!I live in Williamsburg, which is part of nyc (for those of you who are unaware). This app apparently is available in nyc, and considering we have one of the WORST post offices in the whole country (look it up), you would think they that I would be able to use the app! (Not to mention that this neighborhood is more expensive than a great deal of manhattan neighborhoods, because we all know they the service is always better where there’s rich people...) Yet I got another missed delivery, and based on every experience I’ve ever had, I will never get my package. No redelivery request has ever worked, and neither does call customer service or the local precinct or the city council — so let’s see what happens this time..Version: 2.1.1

Works as good as the USPS!I was skeptical after reading the reviews however I needed to schedule a redelivery. After going through all labor the motions of signing up when it came to scheduling FORGET IT! I entered our name & address, it recognized they had a package. I entered the package number from the USPS slip & it didn’t recognize it. Then I scanned the QR block & what a surprise, it didn’t work, either. Unbelievable! So, I gave up & called the phone number from the slip & guess what? The wait time for a person is over an HOUR! I can see why the wait time is so long, their app doesn’t work. DUH!!! So everybody has to call to get through. The real scary part is this is probably how the rest of the government people work. Nobody cares if anything works. They get paid anyway. It doesn’t matter if they do the job well or if the job gets done at all! Our tax dollars hard at work..Version: 2.2

Would be more useful if you could stay logged inThis app has the potential to be very useful but it suffers from some major issues. Primarily it is frequently inaccurate and there are no images of the mail far too often. The other problem that detracts from it’s usefulness are frequent and explicable logouts. One day it works fine on IOS with either touch or face recognition and then the next day neither works and you have to manually log in again. Then it works for a few days, then back to the log in. This detracts significantly from the app because I don’t carry a list of passwords around with me, relying instead on the biometrics as I’m sure most people do. Fix these issues and maybe you’ll have a decent app. As it stands now - not so much..Version: 2.6.1
