No longer opensAfter the latest update to Hik-Connect 6 the app no longer opens on either my iPhone or my iPad (both running the latest software updates).Version: 6.0.150

A little clunkyApp is a little clunky and not sure why when I open app and click on favourites it goes straight into edit mode of favourites rather than just bring the live view or the cameras up. This is critical if you want to check something out on your cameras straightaway live!.Version: 6.0.0

Apps not let us change nameHi all. Hopefully a quick one if you’ll bear with me; I previously had a 4 channel Hikvision NVR (DS-7604NI-K1-4P(B)) and upgraded it to the 8 channel equivalent (DS-7608NI-K2-8P) as it’s predecessor was struggling to cope with the 4nr cameras running at 4K and kept randomly rebooting multiple times per day. The new NVR has been setup with identical settings as the previous and everything is working as expected with the exception of the Hik-Connect app (note: all firmware is up to date). I can add the NVR and cameras to the app no problem and stream the live feed and playback clips etc, but I cannot rename any of the cameras in the app. They’re all showing as “camera 1@DXXXXX[serial number]” etc. Previously I could name them whatever I liked (usually to match their names in the NVR) so that when I got push notifications through to my phone for line crossing or intrusion events it was easy to quickly identify where the event has occurred but now it just tells me the camera number which is just irritating. If I go into the settings in the Hik-Connect app (Settings > Linked Camera) and press the pencil icon to “Edit Device Name”, it lets me type a new camera name but when I hit save it just hangs for about 10 seconds then comes up with “Failed to connect to the server”..Version: 3.11.0

BrokenVersion 6.0.0 I’m not sure what passes as testing at Hikvision, but this latest version is nothing but an absolute disaster! It freezes randomly, the PTZ option now shrinks the screen down (why?) and the PTZ presets are not completely missing!! If a single camera is offline, the whole app freezes and just displays a black screen with no way to back out. If this is the best that Hikvision can do, I will be forced to look elsewhere for camera and recording hardware. Absolutely shocking for a larger company. Fix it or find somebody who can!.Version: 6.0.0

L holmesThe play back function is pre historic. Why you can’t get to a certain time and then either fast forward or rewind is ridiculous. Instead if you are trying to find some thing which/ may only be 3 seconds long you have to scroll along the bar that may just 20/30 seconds at a time, that’s after it’s loaded up after Rachel scroll too. I’ve just looked for an incident that was outside my house, the whole thing lasted 20 seconds and it took me an hour to trace through it all. Not good enough.Version: 4.26.1

Don’t bother!Congratulations. You took a functional working app and successfully made it worthless, unfriendly, not intuitive, and infuriating that it keeps making me select the camera I want, when I eventually work out what the hell I did to show them the first time. You succeeded in making me want a different cctv that I can actually reliably access with a few clicks. By the time I work out what’s happened and how to add everything back my home will have been emptied in it’s entirety and the thief’s half way to a different continent. Won’t need playback because by then it would need aging software to show what the thief looks like so much time later!.Version: 5.0.1

You have got to be kidding me!Avoid at all costs! Where to start. Terrible UI that would have still been terrible 20 years ago. Unable to make any reliable remote connection to cameras. Works fine when I’m on the same network but that isn’t really the point is it? Significant security issues (HackVision is a term I’ve heard). Overall a massive steaming pile of.... After much effort I’m now giving up on it and flushing several $1000 down the toilet and getting something that works. The other issue here is how the heck does this get 4+ stars. StrugglingConnection in the house is excellent and yet I’m having problems with network when it comes to cameras at home and very often no access to surveillance. Otherwise it is excellent when it works. I would also like to see periods of activity highlighted when it comes to the app. I can access it on the device when logged in directly but on the phone app it all looks the same which means I have to look for activities manually throughout the 24 hour period..Version: 4.15.0

With every update, the app is getting only worse!Since the 6.0 version update, stability of the app and functionality itself is different world when it comes to this app. Have been using Hik-Connect and Hi-Look for nearly two full years. Since then, every major update you released the app was worse. I don’t know what’s happening and why, but you clearly has some issues with the development. Hi-Look was better for me because it’s always a bit late for update to be released so l used them in cascade, but now Hi-Look is as bad as Hik-Connect. I don’t know why is this happening, it should be better with every update that comes out but it’s quite the opposite. Main problem is the stability - when I load all of my 12 cameras on one screen they’re at SD, it’s ok, but when I load only one of them and because I want them in HD, they’re all in HD while single preview, the app just freezes for few seconds and sometimes the app crashes. Not to mention minor bugs while replaying the feedback, the app behaves like I’m using iPhone 5… whery buggy and glitchy! One phone I’m using the app is 13 Pro Max and the other one is 14 Pro Max. This problem persists for more than half a year. Please, what’s the situation for this kind of problem? How it can be resolved, is there some kind of paid app for playback of this kind because it’s very annoying and frustrating for such a premium brand..Version: 6.2.51

Update killed the appThe latest update dated 11 Nov has killed app causing it to freeze on the initial load screen. Restarting the phone and manually closing the app does not fix the issue. Update 13/11: a revised update was conducted and rectified the failing to load issue. I’ve upgraded my review to 3 stars. Implementing the ability to re-order the cameras on the home screen would warrant an additional star!.Version: 6.0.151

App freezes when opening if you have FaceID authentication turned onVersion:6.0.150.20231110.4 freeze on the opening page when FaceID authentication is turned on font iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 16.7.1. To get by this issue I deleted the app, reinstalled and ensured I didn't allow the FaceID authentication to be turned on. Everything worked so I tried turning on FaceID again and app froze on opening tittle page again. When through the delete and reinstall again, leaving off FaceID and everything is fine again. Only issue I had doing above is any of the presets camera setting for PTZ were of course lost on the delete and reinstall..Version: 6.0.150

App UpdateEverything was working superb until the most recent app update….cannot view notifications now and it says ‘no video in the selected range’ and just shows the ‘refresh’ symbol. Also, cannot play a days worth of events when looking for something specific. Live view is fine and I’ll just add this is on a new iPhone 15…. Everything still works on old iPhone 13 so won’t be updating anything just yet! To add, iPhone 13 auto updated the app and now that’s not working.Version: 6.2.1

Please do better checks when you release updates.!Updated to this version and it crashes a lot, It can’t see my cameras when I launch the app so I am forever reloading. Pretty uselessIt does not allow to keep the interface for all cameras, each time when I open the app I have to open and program 12 cameras to the 12 window interface. It does not retain the format. This does not allow cameras form two regions on the app. You have to keep 2 phones or log in with a different account, ridiculous! It does not allow continuous viewing, it turns off in couple of minutes. Replay function not working. Cameras max 3-4 years then you start seeing the smoky appearance and you need to replace whole lot. Next time I ll go for a different option..Version: 5.0.2

HiK Vision CCTV System installed by Vortex Security.Not worth the money whatsoever. The system is NOT user-friendly, especially when trying to locate any possible incidents via “playback”. It’s a VERY poor design. The night vision is blurry and unusable should you need it for legal purposes. I’ve been thru 3 doorbells and I’m still waiting on my refund as their doorbell was taken out by them nearly 4 months ago. This was a terrible investment. I would’ve been better off paying a handyman installing something for less than 1/5th of this system’s total cost ($$5,000++!!) from some knock-off company..Version: 4.19.0

Not a pro app - downgrade from iVMS-4500I have hundreds of Hikvision cameras installed for clients around the country and generally have at least 200 on each of my iPhones. iVMS could easily handle this and was a pro-grade app. I could make my own views and quickly organize and view cameras that I need to see and switch between playback and live view with efficiency, which is impossible now. Hik-Connect is a very consumer non-pro app and the layouts take up way too much space, like they are trying to copy Ring. Totally unacceptable for us professionals and might be the end of Hikvision for my company. We monitor cameras live and respond to security incidents real-time though the iVMS app and this will be impossible with Hik-Connect. Now we have hundreds of thousands of dollars into installs and we cannot do our job. Our customers are beginning to complain and some are demanding refunds because we can no longer offer what we promised. What a disaster. I will never forgive Hikvision for this madness and absolutely cannot trust this company. Whoever decided to delete iVMS should be fired!!! This app simply does not replace iVMS and they deleted iVMS from the App Store and it is impossible to load on any devices now. Absolutely unacceptable and irresponsible. With all of that said, if someone was a very very basic consumer, the new app can handle a couple cameras around the house more smoothly than iVMS, but it totally screwed us!.Version: 4.23.0

Needs a lot of workApp crashes all the time, takes an age to load. Playback is painfull. Needs a date search function instead of having to click back day by day waiting for each to load so it doesn’t crash..Version: 4.21.3.0

PlaybackWhen saving a video, you have to capture it live. It would be handy to mark In/Out points. Also photos have to be captured when the video is playing. It would be nice to be able to do this with the video paused. Timeline navigation, each camera has to navigate separately rather than all being in sync when scrubbing through the timeline. All cameras being in sync would be a handy addition. Finally, when saving photos/videos direct to your phone. They’re squished from left to right instead of displaying correctly..Version: 3.7.6

Notification images missingHave had 5 cameras installed by professional company and was quite happy. However started not getting alerts when system should have triggered an alert. Large tractor and trailer passed, no alert. Then a cat crossed the trigger point - I get an alert! Latest problem is that I get no ‘snap shot’ images on the notifications screen - they were there after installation, but in the last few days have disappeared. Fix the playback...it doesn’t workI have read so many reviews saying that if you drop the frame rates on sub-streams then it is a great app, this completely misses the point that the playback function of daytime videos is unusable and has been for years. The system needs to be changed to allow playback...simple. It plays fine from midnight until daylight kicks in and then you get ‘network connection unstable’ messages. If you can’t handle the bandwidth, don’t load the whole video from 12 midnight - let me enter a specific time I want to start playback from and reduce the load overhead. Please sort this out because the app is otherwise good..Version: 3.10.4

Recent update 5 days ago does not work on my iPad.It works on my iPhone but not on my iPad. I cannot see any camera at all. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it worked but I lost a lost of videos and photos I needed. I had to wipe and restore my whole iPad to get the data back. So now I am wondering if I use the ‘OffLoad’ function in Apple to keep my data but in-install and re-install the app. Urgent help needed. Your App support does in the App Store does not work. Worst updates on earthBefore app update I had no issues receiving intercom calls on my phone when someone rang the door but now my intercom doesn’t ring on mine or my wife’s phone. This has happened multiple times when we have updated our app and the whole point of buying the intercom was to get notifications on our phone and to answer the door using our phones. Now that function is gone once again. Should have bought the ring intercom. DO NOY UPDATE YOYR APP OR IT WILL STOP WORKING..Version: 6.0.150

Horrible, clunky no support functionWhere do I start. This is horrendous. I'm really peeved I've spent thousands on professional installation of hard wired quality cameras only for this clunky app to be what's handed over effectively preventing me accessing all features & full functionality they can provide. I can't set perimeters, alarms, activate web feed, remote control. Even after downloading the GUI, trying to go in via web I still can't activate. The website is even worse, dated, clunky and cluttered like grannys overstuffed closet made of archaic dated technical BS. Did the tardis slip back to 1990 and I missed it?!? But apparently I got the new & improved software! Appallingly no access to support with the hope of trouble shooting to get it up and running. Totally unacceptable given many of us have paid for professional licensed installation & quality cameras to avoid the cheap diy trap that this is clearly targeted at..Version: 3.5.2

Buggy. Very buggy. English translator neededVery slow start up, even when the app is already open. Up to 5-10 seconds to start showing the video. No idea what it is doing as I can programmatically receive the stream on my computer instantly. They also need it translated correctly in to English. There’s ridiculous nonsensical messages like “Cannot search the video”. App also violates iOS phone orientation so will freely turn the image when it’s not supposed to. And strangely on startup it flips the video around in random directions for a few seconds. I wish they’d fix all the bugs instead of adding new features. It’s madness.Version: 4.27.0

UghWe recently had several cameras and a doorbell installed. Nothing but problems. We get hundreds of notifications daily because the cameras will not save changes we made. We have changed all sorts parameters but they change right back (microphone, sensitivity). What good is it when you get over 500 notifications in a day. We can’t possibly check each one because it continues to send a notification every time afar goes by. We have shut off microphone ( comes right back on) moved sensitivity to the minimum and changed area to steps of the porch. But still hundreds of notifications daily. Horrible app!!! It’s okay, could be better!It’s okay! Firstly it’s expensive so you want it to be really easy to use and worth the money. I don’t understand why you can’t get notification for garage door reeders? Eufy do a cheap magnet that can notify through the app if a garage door is being opened or closed or left open. I don’t understand what’s the point in installing a garage door reed when it’s difficult to go into the app and see if it’s open or closed. This doesn’t help if you’re away and you want to get an instant app notification if a garage door has been opened or left open. Secondly, it’s hard to answer the intercom on the phone via the app because of the face authentication you have to go through first. By the time I can answer it, go through the authentication and then answer the intercom it’s a long time. I get it’s for security purposes but there should be a quicker way..Version: 6.2.1

Dave’s CCTVHaving had two yes two CCTV systems before, I was about to give up due to both poor equipment and poor installations, then I was introduced to this system; the installation engineers were brilliant and were able to use all of the existing cabling which saved a small fortune. Once the initial installation was complete the commissioning took about half an hour. The training the engineers gave was also brilliant. This system is extremely easy to use however, I did experience a few issues of failure of two cameras within the first 6 months but the engineers were extremely quick to replace free of charge. The only other criticism I have is the few seconds lag whilst watching it live, apart from that it has been pretty good..Version: 4.14.2

DissapointedI have had these cameras for 6months now. The installer said we purchased the best of the best as far as the cameras go. Only being able to view the cameras from an APP only is and not from a website disappointing. When trying to review past activity on this APP that never works the way it is supposed to i can only load past footage only up to 90% on the app then says network error. The app is updated. I have tried many times on both cellular and wifi. I am ready to have SecurlySound come and remove these cameras and go back to ADT cameras which i had for 5 years with no issues..Version: 4.23.0

IPhone App Playback HaphazardBoth my wife and I have the app on our iPhones and everything worked great before the recent app update/upgrade took place. Now we can’t playback consistently and our high speed fiber network is working up to par. The app keeps stating “Maximum playback channel limit reached.” Once in a while with persistent tries playback functions. I could complain about many other unacceptable changes in functionality, but haphazard playback is our biggest issue. We need playback for our security. Have to keep reinstallingSince the latest update my cameras do not remain visible in the app and the only way I can get them back is to keep reinstalling the app which is very frustrating. Playback awful. Turning off intruder alarm turns off pop up notificationsIt takes forever when you want to playback and find a specific event. Why is HIK so behind. They need to copy a similar format to RING. Their playback feature on their doorbells is amazing! Another issue…when you want to turn off the intruder alarm temporarily, it turns off all the pop up notifications too. Please get this rectified by giving us a button solely for turning off the intruder alarm instead of turning the pop up notifications as well as the intruder alarm The audio alarm still goes off when you have the bell icon on the app turned off!!.Version: 6.0.0

Many features missingThe update is horrible. When you want to scroll through screens go from one camera to another you have to exit the screen you’re on to view the other cameras. You can’t simply swipe across. Also when you open the up it doesn’t refresh to current view. You can to go into each camera view and open it to refresh it. When your searching for time stamps and to go back on footage. You can’t manual put the time stamp you want to search, as we did previously. The new update isn’t user friendly at all..Version: 5.1.0

Very poorThis app is extremely poor. Live feed is ok. But labelling and ordering of the views for each camera won’t save - and playback is hopeless. I can't get notifications as to when there’s movement - so I can't see if anyone has walked around my property without watching 24 hours of footage - and in real time. Even that is near-on impossible, as playback constantly jumps back to the beginning point of the time period selected, freezes and skips between different camera views (playing the same view twice even though four different camera views may have been selected. Everyone else I know uses arlo - which will tell you which camera detects movement and when, and then plays that back. Go with any other app than this one, as it is extremely poor and I’m deeply regretting my choice of cameras and app which were extremely expensive for a near unusable system - which was professionally installed by a local security company..Version: 4.3.1

New update doesn’t respect aspect ratioSince the new update with the redesigned interface, the camera aspect ratio is not respected anymore. When you have a camera that is 5 megapixel, the image is squashed in height. The ratio should be 4:3 but now is 16:9 or something similar which results in the camera feed being warped and squashed. I’m not sure how this got into production as this would be a show stopper level issue at my workplace. Is this another product owner driven release to “just get it out”? Even after a few updates, this still hasn’t been addressed, and I’m highly disappointed. Other issues are: - the app doesn’t respect the os level rotation/orientation lock, and seems to just rotate the app anyway. - video playback is choppy and skips forwards and backwards on events (local and remotely) - cannot reorder camera systems on the main page, my owned system is placed under a shared system. Completely waste of space this app is.Disgusted along with everyone else for all the same reasons… connection fails all the time, playback never works and very disappointed for all the money spent on professional installation to be told the original app is no longer available and we are stuck with this rubbish…. Cannot playbackThe App just isn’t fit for purpose. It’s cost me thousands of £ having the 4K cameras installed and I am extremely impressed with the hardware. It’s this app which lets it down and is so infuriating. I get notifications daily but can never playback the videos. I only ever get the message - video unstable. It’s clear that when trying to playback, the app tries to load the whole day starting from 12am, when you just want to view the small clip of the time of the notification. The reason we think this is the case is because you can view playback at midnight and shortly after, but from 8am onwards you cannot playback any video from any notifications you get! Isn’t that the whole point of having a state of the art CCTV system, so you can monitor what’s going on and view the playback!? Interestingly they have a feedback function which I have mentioned these issues directly to hik-connect but this is obviously completely ignored. There is even a forum about this very issue for others online. Hopefully this will get fixed soon but from experience don’t hold your breath!.Version: 3.10.4

RubbishI have been using ivms-4500 from hikvision for years. It has been great. Now i have installed its replacement hik-connect and it is absolute rubbish. What genius came up with this useless app. Cant even work out how to view all my cameras at once. The previous app was straight forward. This is so basic looking that hikvision should be ashamed to release this and call it a replacement. Im glad i still have the original installed on the phone..Version: 5.3.1

Version of iPad/iPhones the live view works properly (without green screen pausing)?Can anyone tell me the version of iPhones/iPads this app live streams video best without have the video image pausing and not actually seeing live motion (more like it’s stop motion)? Since a recent Hik-Connect App update, I’m told my older iPads/iPhones will experience video issues but I find this hard to believe. My iPhone is not that old (iPhone 8) and as far as I’m concerned the video stream and/or playback should be viewable. It’s not!.Version: 4.16.1

Playback not jerkyI’ve used a similar app for surveillance before. It’s playback was smooth. I could recognise someone by the way they walked. Hik-Connect has jerky playback & that’s regardless of my internet connection or device. Any day. Any time. Playback is jerky. It skips moments as your watching it. One minute you see someone next minute they have fallen over or they are off screen. Or the car accident happened and you can’t see moment it happens cause it’s skipped it in playback . Need to delete and reinstall app too oftenNot so happy with my purchase of cameras, or is it just the app that is to blame? The feed is good if I’m at home, but if I get a notification that somebody has entered my property while I’m out I try to connect and it fails to every single time. Also I need to keep deleting this app off my iPad at least once a month, because it fails, it won’t turn around on my iPad to view correctly, I always need to turn the iPad upside down to view my feed the correct way. Poor app, disappointingThis app needs a good update and look over. This app has always played up, connected then it’s not connected over the last 2 years, and now the last week when we have checked it, again it will be offline when we have been out, with wanting to check it prior to us going away, as soon as we are home and connected to our home wifi it will work, but without the wifi connection it will not with mobile data, we have tried again when out to connect to another wifi connection but it doesn’t work, seems the app will only work at home with the home wifi connection, what is the point of that, it is supposed to give you peace of mind when you are not home, let alone all the other bugs with playback, this app needs THOROUGH shake up, or people will slowly start opting for other camera options..Version: 3.13.0

Camera on app doesn’t work after updateI usually don’t write reviews but after I updated the app a few months ago, the cameras became ‘offline’. I tried to troubleshoot it and it said something about gateway parsing failure so I assume something in the code changed so it can’t parse the information. Went to the website and it said my camera is outdated and no longer supported. Are you kidding me? I just installed this last year and it’s already outdated and you won’t be supplying fixes? Now I have a camera that doesn’t work and their troubleshooting guide isn’t helpful. I tried sending a message and no response from them (this was months ago). This is beyond disappointing..Version: 4.20.1

App sorely needs improvementThe iOS app is clunky at best. The UI is very poor and cumbersome. Calls come through like typical phone calls; however, accepting the call really does nothing. If the Call button is pressed and my phone is locked, it takes multiple steps to be able to fully answer the call and communicate with the caller. I have launch the app, tap a fingerprint icon (not really a Touch ID) in the center of the HV screen, perform a Touch ID, then touch the icon in the app associated with my camera, wait for the video to fully load and then touch the microphone icon. A lot of times, the process simply times out and the camera says “we are not available.” Good gracious, could it get worse?.Version: 4.5.0

Terrible app - playback non existentClearly the people that have given this app 5 stars have a different app or software as this is atrocious. The whole idea of having cameras is so that you can view playback if needed. Playback doesn’t work, I have high speed nbn yet every single time I want to playback from my phone or iPad I get a message saying failed connection. The previous software I had put this one to shame. Unfortunately it is no longer available. I would never recommend this app to anyone. There is no support whatsoever. Zoom in quality lowThis app was updated to a new interface a few months ago and since then, the video quality when zooming in has been horrendous. Not sure if anyone else is aging this issue but it was never a problem under the old version. The old version was better in many ways.Version: 5.1.1

Can’t playback camerasI have problem with playback options for cameras which work good when its dark at night and in the morning playback doesn’t work it gets stuck. I have been told i have problem with my network but which I don’t believe i got 100 mbps NBN plan speed is nearly 92-95 mbps all the time and it can’t playback cameras. I think their is issue on their back end once the cameras start taking 6 mega pixels videos it can’t playback videos in morning.Version: 3.6.5

Bad updateThe latest update has introduced an annoying add and some bugs. 1. The app get stuck in landscape view and I have to quit it to fix. 2. When you reopen the app previous camera view is displayed as before but the jumps back to the entry screen and the stupid add. Extra steps are now required to see your cameras as resume no longer works. 3. The camera view layouts sometimes get confused. It tries to display landscape views layouts in portrait view so half the layout gets cropped. I have to go back to main screen to fix. Menus under the camera also loos options. Please loose the add. Missing functionality but otherwise fairly intuitive (if you are a tech-head)We had our system professionally installed but I have had to download and read the software manual to work out how best to configure this as the installers did not show me how to do it. We have had zooming cameras fitted (large domestic premises) and although the app allows me to zoom I cannot refocus the cameras, which since the lens does not follow focus as you zoom in or out renders the zoom function effectively useless unless I am at the base unit. Come on HiKvision, update the app so I can zoom AND focus, then I’ll rate you higher..Version: 3.7.4

New update is terribleI’m not sure what, if any, improvements were made in the latest edition but it seems like I’ve lost the ability to do virtually everything i could in the earlier version. When I click a notification it doesn’t automatically open the video clip and play it. When I open the app I can’t just simply scroll through my cameras for a quick check. Latest updateSince the latest update you can’t scroll through from the last camera across to the first camera have to go all the way back. For instance with 16 cameras used to be able to swipe left through all cameras then after 16 would start at 1 again now it stops, so have to scroll right through 16 cameras to get back to camera 1, very annoying and silly! Good but a couple of issues in my opinion.PLEASE add +\- 10 seconds skip buttons when trying to view back footage on the app!! It drives me insane trying to scroll and find an event on the timeline and skipping whole minutes at a time despite being as careful as possible (surely I’m not the only one that finds this annoying?!). I wish I could add a ringtone to the intruder alert on my phone too. No playback of daylight videoThe app does not playback any daylight video which is useless. It will playback all night footage which is black and white no problems at all. Camera feeds are no longer displaying in HD, despite toggling between ‘Basic’ and ‘HD’. The huge white border at the top of the iPad screen makes the viewing area smaller and harder to see cameras at night - serves no purpose whatsoever. The same white margins also appear on the iPhone app either side when in portrait mode. Line crossing notifications no longer work, so one of the best and most comforting security features has now gone. The list goes on… Why ruin a perfectly good app? Why ‘fix’ what wasn’t broken? Unstable and often says device offlineI am not impressed at all. We had security cameras installed and specifically requested to be able to have remote access. The cameras are wonderful, but the remote access via this app has been very inconsistent and unstable. Initially we were getting a lot of “device offline” notices when we tried to access the cameras from a remote location. After talking to the security company It was explained to us that the cameras were working as expected, but that the instability was coming from the app itself. This problem seem to have been corrected after a short period of time with an update and then the most recent update that occurred a couple of days ago has been nothing but trouble again. Absolute junk and outdatedThere is no way to see when something happened. You have to pretty much scroll through the entire day to hopefully find what you were looking for. Any modern app show you what happened and when. Often you scroll to where you maybe think something happen, press play just to watch the playback stuck. This outdated and highly frustrating that in 2024 they can’t figure out how to design and make a proper security application work. The level of incompetence is baffling. Loved the Hikvision app before they changed itI use the Hikvision app on both my IPad and IPhone about 2 or 3 months ago the app was updated. They changed the PTZ function previously the pan and tilt functions were separate from the zoom, the pan and tilt icon was on the bottom left corner of my screen and the zoom was on the bottom right. “Very easy to operate” now for some stupid reason they combined both the pan/tilt and zoom into one icon which now means you have to exit out of pan/tilt in order to use zoom or exit out of zoom in order to perform pan/tilt. You have to continually do this step constantly if you’re following a moving object. I hope Hikvision gets enough negative feedback and changes the PTZ function back the way it was previously “separate icons for pan/tilt and zoom”.Version: 3.7.7

They tell you to hire a technician to connect the app!!The cameras are fantastic however the networking connection to the app is horrible. On top of that the customer service is rude. I asked them why they make the system so difficult to connect and their answer is that basically as an end user you should not be connecting the system to your network and Hik-connect app, as it is the job of a technician. Hopeless - Useless AppThis is the most frustrating App experience I have ever had. Terrible!On my second system and it is not good. The Cameras are supposed to be HD, honestly I do not notice any improvement. The system crashes often. When this company provides an update you can count 100% that it will totally mess your phone, pad and computer viewing. If you call this company’s Tech Support, it prompts you to press #1 to leave a message as they only work bankers hours 9-5. Back to trying to leave a Tech Support Message... pressing the number 1 does nothing but rewind the message. Totally frustrating. If you are counting upon this system for your personal safety at your home... look somewhere else! I just emailed the company that I have a relationship with and who recommended this system to me and asked that they come asap and remove it then find me a better one that works. Not a user friendly appThe camera equipment is decent but unfortunately the app is pretty hopeless for the homeowners. The person that installed our system is no longer in business and the cameras are displaying the wrong time. I have tried several times to change this myself and have had others look at it too, however it appears impossible for me to change the time. This is a basic function that should be easily available to the home owner but unfortunately is not. Other than just looking at the cameras there’s not a lot the end user can do easily as the software and app are mainly designed for the installer which is pretty hopeless. Quality is great, application is lousy.We have had 5 HIK cameras for three years now. The pictures are fantastic, the set up is reliable. But pretty pointless - we got burgled and we couldn’t send the police the video of the burglar because you can only use the HIK player. The police are not allowed to install software on their computers. So I had an ongoing row with HIK for six months. We videoed the video in the end and caught our burglar but I find it hard to forgive HIK. At a very traumatic time for us we needed help and didn’t get it. It should be a question to ask when installing CCTV. HIK is not cheap..Version: 3.12.1

Unhappy with the app which is miles behindI’ve gone to Hik from a Nest Cam The Nest app allows you to skip 15 seconds if your searching for something on the footage. It has high speed scrubbing so you can flick through and see any activity. The HikVision app is slow jumpy and clumsy. Even if you know the approx time of an event your looking for it becomes major challenge like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Another problem I keep having is the camera for no known reason cutting off and not displaying on the app. The recording is also 24 hours which is not long enough. No sound either. Bring back custom alert soundsI used to be able to specify what sound to use for the built-in alerts. That capability went away a couple weeks ago and now the alerts sound is too quiet and my employees can’t hear it. We are missing line crossing alarms. Please allow me to customize the alert sound. Needs improvement to motherboard ,camera and AppIt functions as a traditional CCTV well but much of the touted smarts about recognition of human vs animal false trigger hasn’t materialised. The main competitor “Ring” camera and app for outdoor surveillance is better in distinguishing human vs false animal triggers and also allow smooth 2 way communication. No Avenue of switching on or off the motion triggers via App which makes it much poorer in functionality than “Ring”! On the whole it more expensive , poorer function and haven’t deliver the smarts that it supposed to. Have it 3 star as I hope an upgrade of firmware will fix the IP camera and app. In truth only deserves 2 star at the moment..Version: 4.9.0

Bug fix & more optionsThe problem I’m having is when you view a single camera and set the HD to better picture, it goes away after I view the next full screen camera. It will not hold at HD... So when you view it in full screen again you have to set it to HD again. Needs to be fixed. We also need to be able to adjust the brightness and contrast. I hope this can be fixed. Be aware ! App Times out after 5 mins .I have has my Hik cctv camera system for 4 years & have never had much trouble with it . But they have recently updated the app so if you are watching on you iPad or phone like I often do when I’m away from my yard working it times out after 5 mins making the cctv virtually useless. I mean what good is a cctv system that stops after 5mins . My engineer contacted hik only to be told this is intentional . New update yet again doesn’t work.Updated this about a month ago and it’s unusable now. This happens almost every time Hik update the app…and they won’t rush about trying to fix it either. Read the other recent reviews. There are so many issues now. Takes soooo long to load a camera, often fails and then it will suddenly work. Don’t get too excited though, it won’t won’t for long and often fails again after 5 or 10 seconds. Don’t turn your phone to landscape. If you do the camera will change to a completely different one. Don’t zoom in either because that too will change the camera. The app randomly freezes. It could be for 5 seconds, it could be for a minute or more. Don’t waste your time changing your camera settings. None of that will make a difference. Don’t waste your time messaging the app developers…they won’t answer….although to be fair they answered me once asking if I had updated the app!!!! Yes, that’s why it’s broken!!!! HIKVISION used to be market leaders, not just my opinion but they actually were. 5 star app before the new face-lift, now it’s frustratingThis update that gave the app a new look made the app incredibly frustrating to use, now you have to click 10 times before you go to full screen, and it often sends you to a single camera view where you can’t just swipe to the next, but you have to select each camera individually. Additionally, when you’re able to scroll between different cameras there’s lag that wasn’t there before, and in the previous versions you could keep scrolling from the end of the cameras list back to the beginning, now it just ends..Version: 5.0.2

Default dateIt’s annoying that this system doesn’t work properly, when sometime happen and there is no energy for a while, when the systems came back it sets automatically to the date 1970 which is insane, I mean you can’t not make a playback it something bad happen in that time lapse because of the date, if this work with internet, why the hell it doesn’t go to the actual date? Every update makes the app worseI keep on making the mistake of updating this app. First, I could keep all of my cameras on HD. Yes, the cameras were choppy, but I prefer quality over quantity. Then an update made all cameras automatically display as Basic, and I then needed to set them to HD every time I switched cameras. So I tried contacting the company through the feedback feature in the app. No reply. Now, this most recent update only displays one camera and I must manually add each camera EVERY time I want to see my cameras. Close out of the app? Add each camera again. Maybe I want to multitask, and according to Hik-connect I lose connection for a bit? Oh, that's means I need to login again to Hik-connect, and I then need to add each camera, again. I can't view the cameras I have installed immediately when I need to. Please, change the app back to what worked before. This current version is not an upgrade. Ultimately, considering I bought my system to use on my mobile devices (like anyone else living in the 21st century), I would not recommend others buying Hikvision products until they fix the very methods you must employ to use those said products. A hi-def CCTV system is only worth buying if it's hi-def and a CCTV system. Not mobile friendly = not a CCTV system worth buying in my book. I'll wait to buy any more cameras (have 6, need 10 more) until this gets fixed..Version: 3.4.1

Okay... but few settingsPositives - the app is mostly stable, and fast to get to an image of a camera (1 or 2 seconds). It’s faster than desktop software, which is junk slow (sometimes 30 seconds wait!) Negatives - you can’t set basic settings such as motion sensitive setting for a camera, and sometimes if you’re not careful it keeps running in the background when phone closed, and flattens your battery and chews all your data.Version: 4.10.0

Does not work as it shouldI have the latest iPhone and am on a 5g network and my app never works properly. It is allways jerky on hd mode it is forever dropping out and just is t user friendly compared to some of the other security camera brands that my friends have. I went with hik vision as I was told they were the best but we have been very disappointed so far. If anyone has any solutions to bypass all this I would be very grateful..Version: 4.21.1

Don’t Don’t Don’t buy this!What a waste of money this is. We installed approx 18 months ago via a qualified provider and have had nothing but problems. We have been unable to playback any videos for weeks now, with the installer no longer responding to contact. Do not waste your money on this system. Anything has got to be better than this rubbish. Update requires password againWhy can’t an app update install seamlessly like they used to. I can’t be bothered to find it and re enter it again after every update so I’m not using it and replacing with ring cameras as the controls and notifications are so much better. Hik and the cameras and recording equipment were all a big waste of a huge amount of money. It’s the difference between useful and useless..Version: 6.2.3

Playback bug in latest versionsWithin the last two weeks, my iPad app can no longer scroll backwards in time past the midnight hour of the current day inside of the Playback function. For instance at 1am, I can only scroll backwards 1 hour, and at 12 noon, I can only scroll back 12 hours. Previous to these updates I could scroll back for weeks of time. Now I can not even reverse to the previous day..Version: 6.0.159

Playback on the app is useless!Cameras have great picture, live view works fine, but the whole reason for having security cameras is so you can easily playback recent events....not so with this app. Playback FAILS TO LOAD 95% of the time and even when it does you are stuck watching the video in real time i.e. no fast forward or rewind, to go forward or back wether a couple of minutes or 2hrs you have to move the slider which leaves you back with the fails to load problem. Unless you can sit an watch your cameras all day/night, or you happen to be really lucky checking them at the exact time something you need to see is happening, or if you have time to go sit at the base station(ff/rw feature works there) to review footage every time something happens then Don’t Waste Your Money On This System!!!.Version: 3.4.2

Yuk!Like so many others here I’ve spent a lot of money and whilst I’m sure the hardware is good quality and was fitted by professionals the software is dreadful! I had no idea about security cameras and trusted that the people I signed up with knew what they were doing. I had no idea that this software was such an integral part! Didn’t know enough to ask how I should and could view playback... I wanted to be able to view this on a larger screen while at home- To send the images to the TV for example but no, none of that is possible! I can only see it on my iPhone and I was told to buy an iPad (yet more expense) so that I can watch it on a larger screen! In addition, whilst prior to the installation the company I signed up with were awesome, & very helpful, since the installation they have been dismissive of my questions and in fact quite rude. So much so that I removed my initial review! I’m sure there are other people like me have no idea and I can only suggest to people they ask about the software before they go buying CCTV at great expense! I wish I’d gone DIY at half the cost!.Version: 3.6.0

Worst app ever used!!!Update: this app did improve and became fairly useable if clunky, however now since the last update this app will not even open on my iPhone XR. Tried restarting phone but app is not even opening up today, did at first but not now 👎🏼 That says it all really, hardly worked before update, even worse now, pathetic!! Wouldn't have got these cameras if I'd known about this! Just updated and made it even worse, constantly showing offline message and making you log back in! My system was professionally installed, I did not fit them myself as one reviewer said the poor reviews must be from people who had fitted their own cameras, they were professionally fitted , the good reviews are probably from the people who are fitting them.... Would not recommendI don’t know where they got 4.6/5. The system worked well until some support was needed.....then.....crickets. App is lacking some key functionsThe camera i am currently using is HikVision DS-HD1 doorbell camera This app has some great feature But is lacking some of the setting I would like use like video ,image and audio settings as well as event play back settings The audio setting available is simply on and off I would like more control like adjusting sound volume and mic pick up range As for the video settings there is only a simple three toggle switch SD ,HD and Ultra HD I would like the ability to controls the exposure ,iso ,contrast ,ect The night vision settings are simply on and off I would like the ability to adjust the sensitivity Night vision looks good on my camera but it auto turns on about 30min to late So For about 30 min I have a mostly dark screen can’t identify any thing regardless of how close you are to the camera The 4x3 fish eye live view is great but when you play back an event for some reason the video is in 16x9 fisheye view which distorts the image by flattening it and there is no play back settings for adjustment.Version: 4.25.0

Camera view is fine butThe 'live' picture on ipad / mobile is fine, not great. Pick up a face 10 feet from the door but not read a registration plate at 20+ feet. Again, night vision is fine but not perfect and I have to say the purpose of the cameras is deterrence rather hoping that any unfortunate intrusion would be properly captured. The playback feature in the app is appalling and no longer allows fast scanning of history in the 'updated' app which is a major step backwards sufficient for me to not to have bought Hikvision if I had known beforehand they would take out one of the best/major features of the app..Version: 6.0.0

Video quality good but…For me it used to be better. Since the big update it’s just not been the same… when I open my app I want to see all my windows at once like it used to be, yet I can only see one window and scroll through, which is more time consuming if you hear something and want to see what it is asap etc… You can view all 4 windows at once but it’s not a permanent option like before and it’s really annoying for me. The old version would have had 4 stars but I’m taking a star off for this reason..Version: 5.1.1

Generally garbage and not reliableThe app gets 2 starts for working. The cameras connect slowly, but I guess I’m lucky that they do anyway. The app does NOT support the iPhone X despite it receiving multiple updates since the phone’s release, which is particularly annoying. And finally, it shows more cameras than you have on your account and lists them as buffering but they never load. For example we have 4 cams on our account but the app always shows 6. 4 cameras load and we can see the live feed but the other 2 say buffering all the time. This is stupid because we only have 4 cameras. Anyway, not a very good app and not a very good company..Version: 3.3.0

HorribleThe only way you can view is in real time or up to 8x but then you miss every 5 seconds. If someone is in your house it takes 5-10 minutes just to find them and by that time they are 5-10 minutes ahead of where you found them so you have to find them again and over and over. Even scrolling takes time to load so you can’t find people because you have to wait for it to load. Alerts don’t work nor do notifications. Basically if you have a home attack the police can review the video to help find who killed you. This is all scary stuff if you have the security cameras to defend your home. This product isn’t for you..Version: 4.26.1

Good app that accesses my location data regularly.I recently had to re-add a camera to the app, and so I enabled location data, which it requires to add. I forgot to turn the location data access off in Settings when I was done. When I went to do a privacy checkup, I noticed it had recorded my location about 15 times over the last week. I’m just wondering why it needs to know where I am while I check my doorbell camera. Makes me think twice about buying more HikVision gear. Also, I still really need Internet Explorer in 2022 to access the feed on a computer? What a joke..Version: 5.0.0
