BassForecast: Bass Fishing App for Negative User Reviews

Interesting App, but disappointing.I bought the app to get some insight into which baits to use and why. When you select a bait, you go straight to Tackle Warehouse to buy the lure??? I wasn’t expecting a $10 app to be an add for Tackle Warehouse. Weather is a nice feature, but I have other preferred weather apps installed already. The “rating” system is interesting, but has information to explain or back up the ratings. The map feature is ok, but anyone who bass fishes knows that docks hold fish. Nothing really new here. Perhaps, I’m missing something? I was watching an episode of “Lunkerville” and saw the app mentioned. I wish I had researched it a little more before purchasing it. I will buy a few things on Tackle Warehouse and use the $10 coupon, so I am “even.” I don’t think I will renew the app next year..Version: 4.3.1

Not very accurateWhen I first tried the app I thought it did a pretty good job forecasting good and bad days and different baits to try. Since the summer season began accuracy has been lacking. The app will rate a day as a good day and there will be no one catching fish in my area. I’m retired and fish with 5 or 6 other retired people on a regular basis. When none of us even gets a bite when the app forecasts a good day something is off. Between all of us we try all the recommended baits but nothing seems to work. I guess I’m trying to say that this app is not a magic bullet for catching more bass. It’s fun to look at and exciting when an epic day is forecast but I don’t think it’s helped me catch more fish..Version: 5.0.2

Great Idea, Doesn’t WorkI downloaded this app with a buddy and it worked great for about a week. We had accurate weather data along with the major and minor times for fishing. Recently, we were both asked to verify our emails on the app and from there it went downhill. The app stopped working entirely. When opened, all data would be blank. I’ve contacted the support staff through email, with no solution. Since then, the weather data has partially been restored, but I’m not getting the fishing rating and major/minor times. I was very close to upgrading to the premium version before this happened, but I’m glad I didn’t at this point. I’ll give it another couple of days to see if the app corrects itself, but then I’m probably deleting because it’s just another weather app without the fishing data..Version: 4.1.0

The app is decent, but…The app does provide _SOME_ correct weather conditions, but definitely needs to use a more accurate API. I’ve also noticed the “cover” option is not accurate at all. Also, making people pay for “unlocked” access to features isn’t worth it at all. It’s an ok app for those that are beginning anglers. If used on an iPad, the app does not provide an option to flip it on the devices side. Which is fine for a smartphone, but not a tablet. The people doing the dev work on this app should think about adding support for tablets..Version: 5.0.2

FrustratingThis app does have some useful basic general information about lure suggestions for different seasons and water conditions. With that said, the main feature of this app is the predictive bass forecast rating that gives a rating out of 10 on how hot the bite is supposed to be. This rating is based off of barometric pressure, temperature, lunar cycles, wind speeds, etc. I have never found this rating to be a good indicator of anything. I have only found it to be a source of frustration when I schedule my fishing outings around this apps suggestions and get skunked, meanwhile if I follow my own intuition and general knowledge about the best times to go fishing and baits to throw I can catch bass just fine. This app routinely suggests that fishing during the middle of the day is a “major time” for feeding based on solunar cycles. It just seems like the data points are not scaled for their impact on bass eating patterns and all carry equal weight which is simply not the case. It’s an over simplification that will cause more headaches than it’s worth. With that said, the 20 dollar coupon to tackle warehouse is a nice incentive to buy, and my coupon did work. I just can’t possibly recommend this app to anyone..Version: 6.2.0

Please fix this app.I really like the app but the entire app is way off. In my area it says that the bass are post spawn when right now it’s definitely spawn right now it’s said it was post spawn for the last three months. Got to get the app fix or a lot of us anglers are going to delete this app for way better one. Worse part is I travel an fish an it’s said every town an place I been in is at post spawn. Definitely need to step the game up an fix the app an info.Version: 5.0.13

DO NOT pay for this appThis app charges you for information that you can find for free on the internet. Also, its not accurate. It changes every day. I had planned a fishing trip around the days it said would be good, a few days in advance, I wake up today and the numbers are completely different and way lower. So why would I keep paying for an inaccurate forecast? The free version of the app gives you todays info which is really all you need and I wouldnt trust their predictions..Version: 5.0.8

Was enjoying but something is wrong nowAbout 2 weeks ago the app completely stopped working for about three days. When it did start back working all of my saved lakes and information were gone. Then when it came back the country India was a saved as two lakes, which I did not save and I couldn’t delete them from my list of lakes. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Afterwards all my lakes and information returned and only one India lake was on my list. I live in Texas and have no reason to have the country India saved as a lake. I was finally able to delete it permanently. Now every couple days the app forces me re-sign up for the pro version which I paid for almost a year ago. Once I sign on, it recognizes that I’m already a pro member. Also the current condition in my area is spawn season. The app says summer currently and I keep having to change it to post spawn, which we aren’t in. This region is in spawn. Before I started having issues the app season didn’t match my region and I would have to change it. I was enjoying the app until this glitch. I’m worried about my information being compromised. My 12 months as a pro member is about to end and if these issues aren’t fixed I’m afraid I won’t be renewing my subscription. Also I mostly bank fish ponds, retention ponds and bank fish lakes. Is there an option where the app can read the ponds I fish in my area instead of the lakes?.Version: 6.2.2

Recent update lost meApp was pretty good before the most recent update. It would give a 10 day forecast on when is the best time to fish. However, now you have to pay for a subscription to see the 10 day forecast. If you don’t have the subscription you can only see the forecast same day and not the 9 other days. While I do understand there is a free trial, it is upsetting to see a paywall for essentially the main feature of this app. Ultimately, this app has turned obsolete after the update. I no longer recommend this product to anyone..Version: 5.0.2

Nokia flip phone 1995 vs iPhone 12When the app 1st came out, it was up to speed, seemed like a good idea even though multiple factors were missing (in fairness they couldn’t haven’t known all of them) mainly like conditions and weather. As time has gone on, they’ve taken the money, acknowledged the others had passed them in technology and essentially gave up. Emailed a couple times and was informed an update was coming Any day. It was 137 days till the update came and it placed a dock on the map and ledges. The baits/lures never change for months and months at a time. Sure In disclosure it’s the cheapest; however you get what you pay for. If you want a fishing app, that you’ll use and get useful info from this isn’t the one for you. While the others are utilizing current technology and professionals, they are using “bass pro Shops website for facts Basically got left behind..Version: 4.3.3

The weather isn’t up to NWS forecast quality.I plan around this when I have time to kill and have no set schedule. However, the weather condition forecast trails well behind updates provided by the NWS. The app says favorable sky conditions but the NWS point forecast has clear with little wind. According to the NWS that spells a glass top and lots of sun with the accompanying heat. The app will say the opposite, touring overcast skies and nice 10mph winds. So far, the app has been 0 for 4 on the weather end. If the algorithm is going to use weather as a determining factor, I believe it should be updated as often as the official NWS forecast or at least draw data from multiple weather resources. Other than that, decent app combining the solunar tables, seasons and likely spots to snag them. Thanks..Version: 5.0.2

Good at making apps! Not at fishing!I really thought when I purchased the app, it would have some detailed fishing info for my area. Instead you get “best” fishing times, and a generic map that shows where fish might be this time of year. The bait selection part is the same way. Anybody that spends time bass fishing, already knows what baits to use this time of the year. I really don’t see the advantage of having it. Whoever made it is obviously good at making apps and not a fisherman. Why not put lake levels for the selected area in the app? How about water temp for local lakes? How about if local lakes are releasing water? How about water color for local lakes? As far as I am concerned the best time to fish, is whenever you get a chance. Not when a app tells me it’s a good time to go. I should have researched it more before I bought it..Version: 3.3.8

Very slow and half of app doesn’t workHasn’t worked since I purchased app. I’ve tried using this app several times thinking maybe there am was a glitch and they will fix it being I emailed the developer a few times without response. I finally got a response and I followed all the instructions to reset the app with no luck and now seems to take even longer to open. Frustrating and not worth all the time I wasted trying to fix it. Don’t waste your time bc if you have a problem they take 2 days to respond and it’s just a standard email they send everyone.Version: 6.2.1

BassForecastThe app is fine. It’s easy to use, and has some good information. Especially for beginners… which I assume this app is geared towards. With that being said, it would be nice if they provided more information about where to look for fish. It says things like “secondary points” and “bedding flats.” To a seasoned fishermen, we understand that, to a new guy… that’s almost gibberish. It would also be nice if they added a water clarity section, where users would input the water clarity for their lake that day, and the app could suggest good colors. Like black/blue when you’re fishing in chocolate milk..Version: 6.0.1

$20 a year for info you can get online and changing forecasts! So it’s only $20 for a whole year plus you get a $20 gift card. But the info isn’t great. Maybe for a beginner but most recommendations are obvious ie switch to finesse if it’s cold. Also the forecast changes A LOT. Tomorrow and the next day were forecasted in the 7s all through yesterday. Now they are 4s. Next had a day ranked 10. I was super stoked. Now it’s a 3. If their whole selling point is a 10 day forecast so you can plan a fishing trip, but the day rankings change wildly, then what am I actually getting? Most of this info can be found online for free. And Tyler Anderson? I actually do love his videos but he’s super corny and his Christian capitalism is not appealing. There’s go to be a better app..Version: 6.2.1

It was goodOk so about a year ago the button at the bottom right (the one where it’s shows what lures to use and where) was free and that was my favorite part of the app (just getting into bass fishing it really helped) but then they made it a premium feature; yes the when to fish helps at times but I just think that they ruined the main purpose of the app, they did add the weather part but personally I don’t really use it, besides this major flaw I think that they did an amazing job making the app easy to use and to understand..Version: 3.5.9

Not Good won’t load 80% of timeSince I upgraded to pro the app doesn’t work or load nearly all the time… like it’s a scam to get pro and works was worse than the free version..Version: 6.2.0

Seems InconsistentBass Forecast has been a somewhat helpful app because the lures to use, the rating scale, and the adapted locations all seem to be pretty accurate. But the main problem is the Bass Season. The app will constantly go back and forth from winter, to pre-spawn, to spawn, then post spawn, and then will randomly go back to winter. One day it will say that the bass season is pre-spawn but then the next day it will say it is winter again. It is very confusing to know what bass season it actually is, and it just makes the app less accurate overall. Please fix this..Version: 6.2.0

The app almost tells you everyday is a mediocre dayThe app almost tells you everyday is a mediocre day. I have had the app for several months (3+). I’ve never seen the app tells you solid an epic day. Obviously I have had epic days during those predicted mediocre days. Even they said there will be epic days in 4-5 days, when the days getting close, they will change them to mediocre days. They just want to play safe so people who don’t know how to fish will not blame them for not catching fish during the predicted epic days. Not sure how useful the prediction is. The predictions are almost not informative to me. But they don’t charge your much, comparing to the other popular but non-informative app Fishbrain..Version: 5.0.4
