✓ Not thrilledSo today I hopped on to create a new IG post I typically make one with a coloured background with an opaque pattern and script. When I opened and started to create, I found textures (which you have to pay for) and no more patterns. This screws up the asthetic of my IG!! What the heck!?!?.Version: 1.26.1
✓ Disappointing appI find picmonkey very easy to use, especially for someone who’s just starting out with photo editing and putting together projects. The desktop program is so easy to use and gets the job done fast, however this app is utterly useless. I can’t do have the things I can do on my laptop with the app, can’t add more than one photo, no layering option, and can’t ever find projects I’m working on in my hub. When I try to do it with on my iPads or phone browser it won’t let me do anything except redirect me to the app. If your app can’t keep up with your desktop program why bother having an app then..Version: 1.32

✓ Something has changed.I have loved this app for years. Use it on my laptop all the time. Recently, the app has changed. My hub is no longer appearing on the app. it tells me that my hub space is empty on the app. When I log into the desktop it is full of all of my previously designed images. I can no longer download the pictures from the website on mobile. This was all something that I used to be able to do and can still do on the desktop version. Not sure what has changed but I am not a fan..Version: 1.43.5
✓ Wish there was consistency in mobile and PC subscriptionI love PicMonkey, but it’s so frustrating that some features that are available to me on desktop with my subscription aren’t available in mobile and vise versa. Example: I can use text on desktop but not on mobile. I can use the smart crop tool on mobile but not on desktop. It just makes it more of a hassle to switch between the two for my editing. ✓ Tried the trialDecided to try the trial. Tried making a logo on my computer and it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. However I thought I would keep working with it. Decided to download the app see what I could do that way. Couldn’t even get the app to long in. It kept saying I needed to connect to the website and sending me the magic link to sign in which then would send me the website and never open the app or directions to open the app. I tried several times to figure it out then decided if it was this hard just to sign into the app the rest probably wouldn’t be much easier. ✓ Awful, get canvaSpent hours working on a poster. Closed the app and when I returned my poster had deleted. On top of that, the 7 day free trail isn’t a free trail, you get to use the pro tools 3 times only before they get locked again. Meaning it’s more like a 5 minute free trail. ✓ Another business taking advantage of peopleSeems like I’m not the only one with this issue. I used Picmonkey a couple years ago religiously and loved it. Now they’re just money-hungry. I clicked to try a basic membership feature because it gave me the option to do a 7 day trial before committing. So I signed up for the trial. When my image was finished an ad showed to try their watermark feature and I clicked to try it. The watermark feature is apparently a pro membership feature that costs more. When I clicked to try the feature, instead of allowing me to do the trial it charged me the FULL amount for the WHOLE YEAR. I contacted support and Vidal Videra kept sending me the same message. They took screenshots of where I clicked submit etc (creepy and intrusive). Clearly the placement and the way you are INSTANTLY charged for clicking to try a feature that’s advertised - it’s just taking advantage of people. After pushing they offered a refund for all but that amount. Why? I was supposed to receive a TRIAL for 7 days, “cancel anytime” before the 7 days are up - yet you charge me for a full month? I hate businesses that take advantage of people, and PicMonkey has become one of them. Sooo of course I’m filing complaints any and everywhere I can because, why has it become commonplace for businesses to do whatever they want to steal money from people?.Version: 1.39.6

The site is no better, just always displaying 'error' whenever I want to upload. But srsly this app is USELESS!! Snapchat has way better filters!! Now it crashes so often on my iPhone XR and I can't always bust out my laptop to edit a photo or make a post for my social media platform. ✓ Surprise chargesI’ve used the picmonkey website for a while so I downloaded the app. Without any warning! I was charged $48.00 within the first 3 days of having the app. I can promise you I didn’t “accidentally” sign up for anything. ✓ Mobile editing is largely unavailableI think PicMonkey is a great tool, as a photographer I use it to make flyers for my friends’ businesses. I have used it on and off for 10+ years. However, the app is next to useless to me. On Lightroom for instance, I like to edit mostly on my laptop, then I’ll do touch ups on the go with the Mobile app. I assumed I could do the same on PicMonkey from the Hub. Nope. You can’t edit any pre-existing edits, only add things on top of it because the image is “flattened.” For $120 a month for the Basic membership this is absolutely ridiculous. Lightroom is the same price but everything is synced from all your devices and it’s a professional software. PicMonkey, I know you can do better..Version: 1.43.5
✓ I wish I could directly reply to Recently DisappointedI feel the same way. I have always used Pic Monkey. Love their editing capabilities. But now I have to pay more to access all the features. Instead of improving and adding features to the current subscription, you have to pay a good amount more. I would have been happy to accept a slight increase in my subscription cost for the added capabilities, but the price jump was not worth it. This was the only subscription that actually hurt a little to cancel. But the developers response to “Recently Disappointed” was the mail in the coffin. ✓ Deleted ...after years of using!What a shame. After years of using pic monkey I went to use the app and it had logged me out. Go to log in and it sends you on a circle of “ Log in with Facebook” which then sends you to Facebook which bounces you back to the app asking you to log in with your email address. Then when you do that it pops up a window saying that you first created your account through Facebook, LMAO! You literally can’t get out of the log in loop. So if you can’t fix your Log In bugs why on earth would I pay for a subscription . Looks like someone added new features, got greedy seeing $$$ and screwed up the app in the process. I was then made aware that the price of that subscription had gone up. It was outrageous and not one I could neither afford or was willing to shell out. I was very bothered by the idea there was no grandfathering for old subscribers. I’ve never encountered such a thing on contracts or subscriptions alike, not taking affect. So I trashed it. ✓ Add photo to Instagram story canvas is brokenI use PicMonkey often to make Instagram stories. Recently there was an update to the app that does not allow me to scale down the image when I place it on an Instagram story sized canvas. Once you place it and Do any adjustment the entire images starts acting up and scaling improperly. Used to be quick and easy to make IG stories now it’s a headache. The interface for creating a canvas size is very odd too.. the white canvas on a grey background is barely noticeable. It took me lowering my screen brightness to even notice it. The back, save and next buttons are all the same shade of grey. I thought they were all disabled til I actually clicked on them and it took me to the next or previous screen. The cancel / delete dialog is shown in orange and red. I myself can see the color difference but someone who’s color blind isn’t going to benefit from this, and quite frankly- it’s ugly..Version: 1.31.3

PicMonkey says I need to go through Apple, Apple says it had to be directly through PicMonkey. ✓ Very frustrated-feel taken advantage ofIf I could rate 0 stars I would. In August of 2018 I was starting a new job and needed to create documents for my job and other projects for my kids school. I have an iPhone, so any Applications I download if there is a charge, i’m billed through subscriptions in ITunes, which I can manage on my phone. I was using Canva and PicMonkey to see which I preferred, but ultimately I stopped the billing because I no longer needed after 1-2 months. I had no issues with Canva and it’s billing. Pic Monkey banked on my lack of knowledge and that I could be billed also thru google, Facebook, etc. and to my knowledge, billed me thru one of those accounts instead. I had no idea until 19 months later, and haven’t even used their app or services at all since Aug 2018. When I turned to them for help, they could see there was no use and gave me only 6 months refund, which was a slap in the face. The right thing to have done would have been to refund it all, minus the month I did use it. But even if they offered half, I would have believed at least I was dealing with a fair company. Only giving 6 months told me they use this tactic purposely to make money, and they are doing it by deceiving their customers, banking that they will not look at the other ways they could be billed for apps and subscriptions..Version: 1.18

✓ Picmonkey Is No Longer My FaveI’ve used picmonkey for years. I’ve sworn by it and recommended it to many people because how user-friendly it was & all the wonderful tools. I have the basic plan. Then came the tiered subscriptions and suddenly I no longer have access to the majority of fonts or any of the picmonkey graphics(they took away a lot of the good ones too) because I’m not a pro subscription. And on the computer, picmonkey did away with old picmonkey at the new year, and I HATE the new picmonkey. It runs slow when it actually runs. it crashes regularly and when it saves to the hub, it takes 30 min before it appears in the hub on my phone. It’s gotten so frustrating, I’m seriously considering parting ways picmonkey. You shouldn’t have messed with a good thing, Picmonkey. After years of using it, I now can't even open the app without creating an account. At a ridiculous $8 a month, it would cost me $16 or more per use, and add the possibility of price increases that I don't even notice because of the auto billing. Just can't do that. ✓ Unfortunate.This app used to be my go-to for any time I needed to add text to an image. It was so easy! Then, recently, it started to heavily glitch on me. Text kept disappearing, the eraser wasn’t working correctly, duplicate wasn’t working sometimes, it just became all kinds of wrong. Now, my phone does have 191 GB out of 256 used, so that might somehow contribute to it, but my question is why would that affect it? I don’t see any reason why a phone with 66 gigabytes left of storage would have any problems with a text editing app before even saving the image. It was working before, what happened? ✓ Horrible ExperienceI used picmonkey for many years when I was in college. It was easy to navigate, user friendly, and gave access to quality editing tools—I LOVED it. Since this was my go-to a few years ago, I decided to create an account to do some simple editing. However, it had been a nightmare. I cannot edit photos from my phone unless I use the app, but the app will not allow me to sign in. It sends me a “magic link” to my email that logs me into my account on the web browser and this creates a circle of never getting into your app account. I have also found that the program runs extremely slow now. I have been trying to edit a photo on my computer for over 1hr now. Total time spent trying to get into the app (I never did) plus trying to use their now crappy website has wasted over 2 hours of my time. I do not recommend anyone use picmonkey. Sorry to all the old vets that saw this great editing tool go to crap..Version: 1.35.1

✓ HUB on iOS app???????I have enjoyed using PicMonkey on the PC and the iOS app, for several years now, as it does exactly what I need it to do creatively. However, for several months now, I have not been able to access my hub folders/saved work on the app and also haven’t been able to save any of my work in the hubs on the app either. It is very frustrating and a great inconvenience, as I am not always able to access my laptop. Sometimes I need to be able to do what’s necessary via my app and keep it moving. I’m not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same issues with their hub on the app, but please fix this issue. I have a Pro Account with PicMonkey and should not be experiencing these type of issues…no one should..Version: 1.43.5

✓ Nothing Like the Online VersionI’m a huge fan of PicMonkey, I’ve used it for years and I’ve loved it through all updates and changes. I’m working on designs to be printed and so I thought the app on my phone/iPad would be perfect for on-the-go touch ups when I don’t have my laptop. However, there doesn’t seem to be a layers tool on the app version, so I can’t go in a rework things in a pinch like I’d been hoping. I also can’t further edit things I had been working on with my laptop, I can only add things on top. I think those are really essential tools of editing, and the lack really undermines the whole point of PicMonkey for someone who is using them in a professional manner. ✓ Double billing, broken features, NEVER got responses to rectify any of these. For months.Would have preferred 0 zero stars as an option! I purchased the “pro” and pay annually. I was billed in April 2020 to April 2021. In October 2020, my card was charged again for half the amount. Then they charged my card again in April 2021. All the while, I had been trying to contact them to get a refund for the $60 overcharge. I could never get a response. The same thing happened when some features broke on my account. It’s been months and the background remover hasn’t worked. I have, again, tried many times to contact them, with no response. This is way too much money for such awful and unprofessional customer service. I switched to canva and have had no problems at all. I decided on the 20th that I needed to upgrade to the Pro Plan again, and get rid of the other program I had used for things like “background removal” and I was excited about the newer Pro Plan features. On the desktop version, it said I had to go through the App Store since I had originally purchased there. Went to the App Store, chose the monthly pro plan subscription… and I still have basic without the features I need. It took customer service 4 days and multiple emails back and forth to tell me that it wouldn’t go into effect until January 6th when my last basic plan ended and there was basically nothing they could do to change that. **update to add… Apple says it’s the developer, PicMonkey says it’s Apple… I’ve still got an app with features I’ve paid for and can’t use. Although I am open to new changes within the last three months I have not been able to use the remove background feature on my mobile phone nor my MacBook Pro. ✓ The update..I used to love the app, I used a font and that I really liked it and it was called “Pinyon Script” and it was a fancy nice font. After the update they removed that font and they mixed up all the names of the fonts and letters. This is super upsetting because I’ve been supporting this company for years and I officially uninstalled this app and will never be using it again. ✓ Terrible. Charges without consentI used this app a few days ago and of course it wouldn’t let you do anything without trying the free trial. So I did exactly that. And I did agree to pay after the trial but it told me I would pay $6 monthly. Instead, it charged me for the whole year. Why would I need an app like this for a whole year?? It specially told me “$6 monthly or $72 a year!” Either you need to be more specific that IT WILL charge you the full amount at one time or that $6 monthly isn’t honestly true. ✓ Not a total interface on all devicesPaid in app purchase for touch up for $1.99 on my iPhone. It does not transfer to my iPad, I have to purchase it separately. I have contacted the app developer and they say contact Apple. So you know what came next? Apple says contact the app developers. If I had known that, I would have purchased from my iPad. When I try to sign in on my iPad, it says email not found. **edit** Developer response was quick for a solution, works fine now on my iPad, had to delete the app and reinstall, works great now!
