ROME: Total War for Positive User Reviews

Totally AwesomeAs a fan of the original I am rapt to be able to play this on ipad. Only real issue is it eats battery life. The best strategy game you can get right now. Well worth it..Version: 1.5

What a game!I remember playing total war on PC some years back, granted the movement within the game is easier on PC, you will not play a strategy war game as good as this on a phone, I’m urging for the release of medieval total war or better yet the second medieval total war as the attention to detail is superb also you can also participate in the ship battles rather then simulating them as you have to in Rome total war. This game will have you stuck to your phone for hours!!.Version: 1.9.1

DefenseAdd a option where we can play as the defenders on the siege.Version: 1.7.3

Excellent game, but baffling controls on iPadI write this as much as a plea for help as I do a review. Can anyone *please* help me rotate a stationary unit in battle? Or a series of units? This works beautifully on the Mac (I have happily lost days and weeks to Napoleon: Total War), but there doesn't seem to be any way of doing it here and my units get cut to shreds. That aside, this is an excellent game on every level - absorbing and complex, just as all the best strategy games must be. Well done Feral, yet again. (And please help!).Version: 1.10.5

Love itI used to play Rome: Total War on PC and love it just as much now on iOS, it’s easily my the best game I’ve played on my iPhone. This game is worth every penny and I would recommend it to anyone who loves ancient warfare or strategy games. After the newest update it’s even better, which I didn’t think was possible. As great game developers I’m sure you could find a way to have a campaign with S.P.Q.R.... This would make this game the ultimate game, hope this is possible soon!.Version: 1.10.3

Amazing!!!This game is amazing hours gone in what feels like minutes it must have multiplayer I’ve always wanted to try my skills against other people so please add a multiplayer option please.Version: 1.10.3

PerfectPlease Port over medieval total war 2 PLEASE.Version: 1.10.5

Great Gameplay but one Campaign feature ruins it for meThis was my first total war game and I loved the gameplay. I went on to buy shogun 2 and Rome 2 on pc and they have one feature which makes the campaign more simple and enjoyable. The projected profits are calculated by adding “infantry upkeep+ Naval upkeep” which makes managing the economy simple. However in Rome IOS the projected income includes money spent in the turn for some reason which really complicates managing the economy. It’s a simple issue but it unfortunately puts me off the game. Please add a “simple economy option” and I would love the game. Thanks.Version: 1.10.4

Classic RTS game.Overall great port of a timeless classic. To have a playable version of this game available on Tablets is a credit to all involved. A must have for all lovers of RTS games. Has the odd minor Ai glitch as did the PC version but what more could you ask for. TW Medieval hopefully ?.Version: 1.7.3

EnidrednekI was sceptical at first. I spent many hours, weeks and months playing the various Titles of Total War on PC. You will not be disappointed. It takes a couple of hours to get used to the controls.... touch screen versus mouse but stick with it. I think this is probably once of the best PC to IOS conversions I have seen. It plays very smoothly on the IPad 2017. I can't wait to play the other offerings....Barbarian Invasion and Alexander. The only thing I haven't managed to work out is how to get a straight skirmish line in front of the opposition.....it's a bit random and you have to keep on picking a spot before the game decides where to put your line of troops. Still, well worth the tenner. Any plans to release more Total War titles????.Version: 1.7.3

The bees knees !!! I love RomeI’ve always loved the Rome: total war games. More than any other, my obsession with the ancient Romans, barbarians, Greeks and all the other awesome factions never lets my boredom die! Only one thing stopped me from getting playing the total war games and that was not being able to use my mums laptop as she was convinced. My total war games, ruined her pcs performance :( she was wrong. It was my brother rinsing RuneScape using bots downloaded from dodgy sites that kept giving my mums laptop viruses. Atleast he got 99 woodcutting right? Anyways. I’m so happy they brought out an iOS version it’s mad. So convenient yet I don’t play as much as I would on pc. It’s perfect!! Please bring out more content and more total war games. I’d like to play as more factions. Medieval total war would be cool too!!.Version: 1.9.4

Best game on iPad... Easily! The port to the iPad is the best I’ve seen. This game is the best game I’ve had on iPad. I bought all three games separately and now you can get them dirt cheap in a bundle. I love it. If they do the same for Medieval TW II, I will but it the day it comes out..Version: 1.10.3

Love the gameI was just wondering are you guys planning on adding anymore total war game with in the next two year or so.Version: 1.10.5

Most haveHaving grown up with the Total War series as a young teenager playing shogun then Rome: total war. I have to say this game is as good now as it was back when it was first released on PC. It has bought back some very happy memories for me, the detail is just how I remembered it, whilst the battle play is a little hard to adjust to, I cannot find any faults with the game so far. Here is to hoping they will release Medieval at some point in the near future?!!.Version: 1.9.1

“We will find away or we will make one”(Hannibal)It doesn’t get much better than Total war on a phone, Civ 6 is right up there tho but now we have CoH as well, it’s a good time to be a mobile gamer. I have been hesitating on buying this for months just because I own it on PC, so why should I, well I’m glad I did cause it actually runs smoother on my iPhone 8 than it does on my decent laptop, the touch controls are as fluid as any other well made strategy game on iOS. Instead of clicking and dragging mouse to select multiple troops, you draw with finger around the troops you want to select, makes it feel like you are drawing up sports plays but in actuality you are crushing your foes with just a finger mwahaha. If you, like me, are hesitating whether it be price or you already own, do your self a favor and have the Roman Empire in your back pocket at all times. GG.Version: 1.10.5

GlitchHey there’s this glitch it’s been around for almost a year now affecting all versions of the game on iOS and it makes it hard to play because it super sizes the units and makes like like 2-8x times the size of regular units so like a unit of 40 is now like 160 men and from what I have seen so far it causes the battles to lag more and causes units to break faster I mean I’m sure you can see how worth the mechanics of the game it really effects how it plays and makes it in my opinion unplayable but aside from the glitch and back when I could get normal campaigns and battles to load this game was amazing I love it so I still give it a 5 out of 5 stars just hoping they fix this or I find a way to idk.Version: 1.10.5

A brilliant conversationDon’t usually leave reviews but some great work has been put into this. This is one of my favourite games ever and it runs even better on my iPad. You do have to get used to the controls and I was sceptical at first but the developers have put some real thought into how to make it work best and it really does. For the price it really is great! Many thanks!.Version: 1.10.5

Never Gets Old......I’ve been playing Rome on my PC for a number of years, and after I upgraded to the latest iPad, I purchased the game, and it has not disappointed in any way. My only wish that there were more historical “Set Piece,” battles available. What keeps the game from getting dated, is the ability to create my own custom battles, but this can be time consuming, so more ready to go battles would make it even better. But, it’s still relevant, after years of playing. Oh, one more thing. I wish they Barbarians version was available as an add-on or as a stand alone purchase too. Update. It is now available. Thank You!.Version: 1.7.3

Great game, but controls need improvement.Game is definitely worth 5 stars in every way. Especially in comparison with other so called “games” on App Store. There are however some issues with controls. Slide with two fingers function often doesn’t respond, or just doesn’t work at all so it’s really hard to send troops in desired direction, and in desired formation. Also tilting camera up and down during battle is pretty much impossible. Also there should be button for troops to switch from ranged combat to close combat. That’s about all faults with controls I can think off now. Also could you please release game Medieval: Total War ? I’m sure many people would gladly pay for it including me :D.Version: 1.9.1

Rome total warThis game is excellent! I hope that at some point there will be something else along the same lines in the Napoleon or American civil war era..Version: 1.10.5

Total war gamesI never write reviews but feel as if I need to for these games. A massive congratulations to your team for porting and improving two of the best total war games created. Your work is amazing and I love being able to play Rome total war on the go. If by any chance you could get medieval total war for iOS then you will forever have my thanks. Again thank you for your hard work..Version: 1.10.5

New total war for iPadWhen are we gonna get another total war game for iPad for e.g Third age total war lord of the rings please it would make my my day thanks.Version: 1.7.3

Fantastic plan and simple...Ok.Version: 1.10.5

Great game worth the moneyPlease make more total war games for mobile like medieval 2 and empire.Version: 1.10.5

Adding Manual Sea BattlesI absolutely love this game but it would make the game 100 times better if you added multiplayer battles. I also want to know if you can add Two player campaigns if that can be done..Version: 1.10.3

Takes me backI used to play this on PC in my childhood/ early teen years. When i saw it was an App i just had to get it! I am So happy it is exactly as I remember it! Brilliant in everyway..Version: 1.10.5

Simply brilliant!Love this game. Love that you can either win through blood, sweat, and tears, or “cheats”. Even with the cheats, this game is ridiculously fun!!! Especially after a hard days’ work. Thank you!!!!.Version: 1.10.5

Old time player and fan...I first began playing Medieval and Roman Empire versión years ago then only available on CD to play on my home computer and the game is still as great as when I first discovered it. I do wish the medieval version were available to download from the App Store so I could play it on my I-pad but having “ROME” to okay anywhere I go is a plus. What I love about the games ( besides the sound track of the original CD game) is the historical aspect and accuracy of the play. A player can apply different win strategies depending on which country he chooses to be as well as develop different strategies for winning using key military units. I first always played as one of the Roman family units but lately I go with one of the historic competing empires and have more fun “changing” history but conquering the Roman Empire. Great game... give us the Medieval versión to play on I-pads!.Version: 1.10.4

CrashingThis is a fantastic game and addictively great fun to play. The feeling after defying the odds and wiping out an army treble your own size by using your cunning, is brilliant! The crashing.. It crashes a lot. I’m not sure if it’s because I still have the original iPad Air, or if it’s the same on all the tablets, but it’s really bad. It started by crashing once every 3 battles right at the end, so you’d need to restart the entire battle all over, it was a pain, but I carried on regardless. Unfortunately as the game progressed, it starting crashing during the battle as well as after, this was happening in every battle by now. It’s at the point now that it’s simply unplayable. I’ve got the 64gig iPad with very little on it, so I can’t really blame my tablet for lacking any space. It’s a shame, really, because this game is outstanding!!.Version: 1.10.3

Great game one suggestionIn the battles, how about double tap moves the troops walking pace, two finger double tap moves them at running pace? At present the battles are not fun as a single tap trying to select another unit almost always ends up with your current selected unit walking to where you tapped and they end up being slaughtered. If this could be fixed I would upgrade the review to 5 stars....Version: 1.10.4

This is actually amazingI was very sceptical about the iOS version of this game. As I loved playing this back in the day on my old pc. I couldn’t be happily with this version. A must have!.Version: 1.10.5

Sooo goodI love love love it soooo much I was waiting for a console version of total war and I got this instead it is such a good game I play it for hours straight……………… just one thing I really want it has nothing to do with this app but can you please please please make a Napoleon total war for iPad to I would buy it play it and give it a good review.Version: 1.7.3

GoodThe game is very good but there’s a a few bugs especially when it comes to siege battles sometimes siege weapons won’t work or your men will glitch and won’t enter the towers if you have piles inside a city they sometimes won’t stay in formation allowing for them to be cut down easily sometimes pikes won’t use their pikes in battle in city’s and really I avoid siege battles like the black plague other than that it’s a great game.Version: 1.10.5

Total War just keeps improvingI have been a huge fan since the Total War line was first rolled out. Rome has always been one of my favorite games. I was hesitant to get it for the iPhone because I didn’t think they would be able to port it without giving the game a lobotomy. But I was pleasantly surprised at how true to the PC game the iPhone game is. It’s easy to see that the designers aren’t out to make a quick buck off the total war name. And now, for no additional fees, they’ve added all the playable factions that were not available before. That’s an incredible value and much appreciated. Good work and I hope to see the game continue to be supported and look forward to any additional content in the future..Version: 1.10.3

Good game, pretty bad controlsThis is a really great game. I’ve been wanting to play total war on the PC for a while, then found it was on the phone too. It has been fun so far, but the controls are very frustrating. I think they were meant for iPads with much bigger screens, because I can’t precisely select and move and position my troops effectively. I often find myself just bungling up the battle most of the time because I can’t properly position my troops. But it’s still a fun game. It’s historical, you can build town, make troops, make alliances, and never get bored. I just wish there were better controls..Version: 1.10.5

Great gameIt runs great a fun game with adventure and war to build a empire make allies and then backstab them it is worth buying I have all the total wars on my gaming computer and on my iPad but please try and make some more on iPhone and on this total war could you please add in more factions and I hope to one day see total war war hammer on iPhone great games keep it up thanks for making so many people happy.Version: 1.9.4

Fantastic!!!This game is one of the most addictive strategy games that I have ever played. Great for iPad..Version: 1.10.5

Enjoyable TW mobile gameGood game but no multiplayer, occasional glitches and finicky controls make this app slightly overpriced.Version: 1.10.5

Almost perfectThis game is honestly the best not in graphic compared to other but gameplay wise. The one thing is that how come there 50 region and u can only play as 13-15 region that not even half Macedonia I defeated and yet still couldn’t play as them Also the Greek kinda seem Under powered because in my understand the Greek were very intelligent but they can understand that they can’t just Pikeman all of the time yes they have archers/skirmishes and cavalry but that doesn’t really make up for there one weakness I know this game is very old now but I wish you could FRIKEN FIX THE SIEGE TOWERS TOO and also add new unit like historical units. Side note: Why tf did u add ship engagement if u can’t actually see them what’s the point u can’t retreat if you get attack so what the fricken point ik this is a little thing but it bugs me for some reason Question:Will You add Rome 2 because for me the selection in Rome 1 is not really great such as the Greeks with practically only pike man and is starting to get boring after a few month.Version: 1.9.4

Based and RomepilledGaulcucks btfo.Version: 1.10.5

This is Great but.....This is an awesome game. It plays well had a blast playing. One thing that would be great is Medieval 2 Total War. That game had the same graphics engine as Rome Total War. It would be. A great title to add on iOS. Just want to give some ideas for the developers when it comes to tablet gaming..Version: 1.10.5

Still one of the best games ever but sort out the crashingCouldn't believe it when I found this gem on the AppStore, it's probably one of the best strategies of all time and ports really well onto the iPad. The only big downside is the constant crashes. It mainly happens just after battles which usually means u end up replying the battle. Being such a classic it's still worth every star but would be lovely to see a patch sort out the stability issues..Version: 1.7.3

Excellent Port of the OriginalI was initially a bit sceptical of paying £10 for an app but, I wasn’t disappointed when I eventually purchased this game. It’s an awesome port of the original pc game into the App Store. I’ve played for a number of hours now bringing back memories of days lost to this series of games. I’m playing on the iPad 2017 and to date, have had no issues whatsoever; the only thing I haven’t sussed is the group formation button during the battle set up. Still, that doesn’t detract from the fact this is a great game that I would definitely recommend if you’re undecided like I was. A visit back to the original format of an upfront purchase for the whole game as opposed to hours of waiting and subsequently money to advance is a welcome relief..Version: 1.7.3

Multiplayer if possibleGreat game, great mechanics. The only things I would ask for would be multiplayer (co-op) and minor details when viewing cities e.g soldiers training, horses, varying designs for people.Version: 1.10.5

RomeI absolutely couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw total war on the App Store. To be honest I’ve been polite and gave it a 4 because the game it’s self is very very good, my first campaign I got to about the 6th or 7th city and the game crashed and then crashed on the loading screen. I started a new campaign and got to about the 4th city and again this has crashed and now keeps crashing on the loading screen. I’ve updated my phone thinking this might solve it but it hasn’t....Version: 1.9.1

Great, just one thing?I love this port, it works, it’s UI is well done.. it’s just everything I’ve expected of total war on mobile. The one thing I’d like the devs to implement though is the ability to change the unit sizes from large and huge, too normal, or small. Sometimes the smaller scale fights are more fun to play rather than being restricted to unit sizes of 80 or 160..Version: 1.10.5

So close to the PC game, needs some improvementOverall they did a fantastic job moving this to the IPad. Biggest problem is troop control and camera control, both of which are very unwieldy. Trying to get a better look at the battle close up and back out to the larger view in a functional way is difficult if not impossible. A couple of buttons controlling the camera might have worked better. For the attack selection sometimes you are given two options which both have a sword icon and I still haven’t figured out the difference. So the PC game is still better but for an IPad game this is outstanding. The issues noted are why I can’t give it 5 stars..Version: 1.14

Good gameIts a pretty good strategy game, worth the price..Version: 1.7.3

Excellent! This is an excellent port of an excellent game! The touch controls are fairly intuitive and once mastered allow for a great gaming experience. My only suggestion would be the addition of game pad/controller support for those who prefer that. I know many of their games do support this and unless I missed how to enable it, it’s absence here is the only downside to this app I have found so far. This downside however is still not enough to prevent me from giving this game a 5 star rating. I’m sure my family will be seeing the top of my head far too often this holiday season as I’ll be looking down at my screen so much! Well done!.Version: 1.7.3

FrustratingI have this game on PC and l absolutely love it and it started that way on my phone but after only around 10 turns the game stops and goes to main screen and just keeps doing it every time l try playing can’t go any further, sooo frustrating.Version: 1.9.4

Close to PC qualityReal time battle mechanics are tougher to recreate, but I think they did great work on the campaign map and its conversion to mobile device. I am unsure if it’s me or the game, but I cannot position my troops to face a specific angle in real-time. I used to use that as a tactic when outnumbered by multiple armies on PC. I would back into a corner on a hill with spears in a semi circle archers in center with horse ready to counter flanking maneuvers, but again I can’t seem to figure out how to position troops at an angle. Side note, would love to see Barbarian invasion expansion come to mobile!!! Would pay extra for that dlc..Version: 1.10.5

Controls leave something to be desiredPretty good overall.Version: 1.10.5

Awesome game!!Took some time to figure everything out control wise, and was so happy when I learnt I didn’t have to only be the romans as well. Overall brilliant game, well worth the spend, I highly recommend to anyone looking for an in-depth game. Word to the developers: Please add an update so we can position units in the direction and depth of formation we want, not just a direct move from where they currently are. So sick of units being in a city then keeping a long skinny formation once I get them outside the gates. One more thing, I’m noticing it’s becoming disproportionately harder to maintain happy populations as the cities increase in size. And please work on bringing the other total war game to iOS. I have empire gold edition on mac. And it is without a doubt my favourite TW game to date..Version: 1.7.3

SpartansThis is a great game. One thing: please can you make the Spartans look cooler. They currently have tin can helmets and red dresses. Could you make them have red capes instead and feather plume helmets like with the Armoured Hoplites?.Version: 1.9.1

Updated Response.I made a response over 4 years ago, but this game is a passion to me, I have played most of the factions and I even got a campaign up to the year 262AD, I was the Scipii, and there was 3 factions left, I think they were the Britons and Armenia, but yeah, great game overall!.Version: 1.10.5

Please fixI love this game I really do but the game crashed on Friday and I’ve sent emails and everything only to open my game and see it’s still crashed I’ve been waiting a good while now since it’s Wednesday please I just want to play this game.Version: 1.10.5

Best game ever butPlease add a online feature to the game so you can play with friends.Version: 1.10.5

Fun and enjoyable but...The game is fun and enjoyable but it’s a bit expensive don’t get me wrong it’s a great game but if you could give people half there money back I believe it would gain more popularity also make the game price half the price -NoBrains.Version: 1.9.4

Great, but one questionI am so enthralled in this game. Have been enjoying it a ton. It has hours of gameplay and plenty of strategy and fun to go around. Only question I need answered is, when will more total wars come to ios. This game I was skeptical at first, but seeing how it has been moved over and works incredibly well. I just want medieval 2 or any of the other titles. The older ones are probably easier to convert and run on iOS. Would love to see more titles switch over. If that happens then I know plenty will play it. I know I’ll empty my wallet for a medieval 2 on iOS. All in all great game.Version: 1.10.5

Good game, some small problemsThis is pretty good game, except for a few small problems. 1. It is impossible to charge missile cavalry at enemies until they have used up all their missiles. Otherwise, others to attack them just mean they throw missiles, even if you turn off fire and select stand and fight. 2. When playing as the Seleucids, you can’t see how tired your own and enemy troops are. Also, you can’t turn on avoid combat for missile cavalry. 3. The game often crashes for no reason, forcing you to redo battles. Otherwise, a decent game..Version: 1.7.3

Best IOS game by far but a HUGE glitch! This game is amazing really enjoying the Campaign a well deserved 5*. As I’ve been a big fan of this game since the original came out. BUT there’s a problem... I can’t advance to the next turn after the Senate has demanded my faction leader should “commit suicide”. Which is really weird and annoying and I can’t figure out what to do after I click the advance button to go to the next turn, when I do it goes back to the same message. Somebody please help so I can carry on playing and continue the game lol! Cheers. 😊.Version: 1.9.1

Please remaster medievalRome total war is definitely one of my favourite games on the App Store. Alongside with Tropico remaster. I’ll play these games religiously whenever I don’t want to talk to colleagues on my break at work. Or just when I’m sitting at home. I just wish that the developers remaster medieval total war as well. If they did, I’d buy it instantly no matter what price.Version: 1.10.5

Variety of unitsPlease add different units to the game. Or edit some of the older units for Eg. The Spartan Hoplites look awful with their plain red overcoat and a weird pot helmet. Since I highly doubt that Rome II will come to iOS it would be great if you added units from that game but scaled down so it can run on Rome. Thanks.Version: 1.10.4

I love itIt’s great to have such an amazing game for iOS. To play when and whenever. I would love to see more total war games like medieval 2 an more for iOS..Version: 1.10.5

Just one word: WOW!Never played total war series before and I gave it a try last week. What a game! For me it is much better and fun than civilization. For big battles, I have to play on slow speed and constantly scroll between my 2 flanks and click pause and issue order. It is not an issue, just so many things going on on the battlefield at the same time. Now I see why this game is truly a master piece. It is a tricky game though, especially on the map level, don’t grow your cities fast or you get into un-reversible trouble. It is a mechanism preventing you grow your cities too fast..Version: 1.9.4

Love this game but pls listenOk, first off, I love this game. I’ve gotten really into Roman history this year and this game was great for me. I love the immense battles and the campaign is super engaging. I usually hate campaign style games but this was like choosing my own path and I love it. I love being able to move my army’s around and explore the map. I love making deals or enacting revenge on my enemies. There are somethings however that I would like to be balanced. The rebellions happen so frequently and they somehow amass a giant army and I have to use my big army’s that were needed for campaigns elsewhere and put them to stop the rebellion. And the rebel pirates somehow have a godlike fleet that will just continuously attack my ships over and over again. Apart from that, I really love this game and rate it 5 stars.Version: 1.10.5

Why it’s not 5 stars. The main reason that this isn’t as good as the pc version is the battles. I find it to difficult to command large armies with the touch screen so I’m fighting the battles automatically and losing when on the pc I’d most probably win. I brought this game when it first come out and after a while I playing this on hard and got world domination. I can’t do this on the phone mainly because of the battles. But still a bloody top game..Version: 1.10.5

Am I not the general in command?Excellent game, very good I still play it but I just have one thing to say. Sometimes when I play with a battalion of mine and I order my battalion to finish off a force that are running away but WILL regroup only so many go the rest like kind of walk as if they where in slow motion. And instead of neutralizing the remaining enemy force the regroup and demolish one of my forces. What I mean is that sometimes you have no control over your own soldiers..Version: 1.10.5

So GoodThis is exactly how it was played on PC. Love it..Version: 1.10.5

Just like how I remember itThis is Rome Total War as I remember and love it. All the game play is here, plus some extra teams that were unplayable in the original game, what’s not to love? My only criticism would be that some of the battle controls are far from intuitive and I find myself accidentally issuing commands at time, but this is perhaps a limitation of the game being on iOS. Overall, fantastic game and definitely a must have for any Total War fan.Version: 1.10.3

Get This GameThis game is amazing, the one big thing that I would change is: Currently alliances are kinda useless. Could you please make it so that if you are in an alliance with another faction that it means something. Because currently if I were to have an alliance with let’s say Gaul, then nothing would stop them from stabbing me in the back and invading! Another thing, your allies don’t do anything if you ask them too; like if I asked Egypt to attack the Seleucid empire, they would say no and betray me. All I ask is for alliances to mean something to the AI. If you could make an update, or something that would turn your AI allies into actual allies. Instead of backstabbing traitors. Thank you for reading, over all great game..Version: 1.10.5

Love this game! So worth it!I sat on the fence for about a week before I took the plunge and spent £10 on it. Now 1 month later, I would have happily spent £30. The game is really intuitive, easy to pick up for new players with its tutorial mode & easy enough to get used to for us old school players. The graphics are unreal! Seriously large scale battles, all running smoothly with high frame rate. I’m actually really impressed, it’s exactly like the game on the PC. Controls take a little while to get used to, but over time it becomes second nature. I seriously recommend buying this game. I spent every lunch & evening playing it, well worth the cost!.Version: 1.10.5

Out of this world BrilliantI don’t normally write reviews, but I think the developers of Rome TW for mobile have gone above and beyond to make this game as good, if not better than the desktop version. I remember when the engine for this game was on the ‘Time Commanders’ TV show about 12 years ago, and the idea that what used to be the dynamics for a state of the art game show now fits in your pocket is incredible. Really good merge from the PC platform to the phone, and the controls are intuitive, which was my main worry. Some points for improvement would be being able to see enemy settlements population and public order (when a spy is in there), and the battle controls could do with some tweaks (an ‘X’ button as a command as I kept trying to click off troops but I’d either select someone else, or tell them to go somewhere!), but this in no way detracts from the 5***** review. Well done developers, best game I’ve ever downloaded. A must have..Version: 1.9.2

RemasterRemaster or u hav small pp.Version: 1.10.5

Good game really amazingIt has a lot of options features and everything. Personally I love custom but everyone is different. I know on computer there is a 2 version with better graphics so I’m just waiting until iPads can run that or even support it..Version: 1.9.4

There is always improving neededThe game series is the best in all of gaming, the graphics, gameplay, and strategy that comes along with this brings old ancient warfare to life in the hands you possess by just a tap on your phone you can become great commanders of great armies in this game. You can relive the battles that once happened, sieges that once took place, go into the eyes of what Julius Caesar once saw; total war. I have been playing the total war series for quite some time now, and have finally played this game on the iOS. The only thing needed is Online Multiplayer!!!!!! Until that is fulfilled may I finally play a game in great competition amongst others around the world!.Version: 1.10.4

Worth every pennyI’ve had this game awhile now and usually don’t write a review, but I had to make an exception for this game. For the price it is a truly remarkable masterpiece that frankly blows its neighbouring strategy games out of the water. The attention to detail is incredibly refreshing and the depth to the game promises an immersive experience that is seldom found in other IOS games. No in-app purchases, just a classic masterpiece that asks for a modest one time purchase that is well worth the spend. It seems the crashing issue after some battles has been fixed so there really isn’t a reason this game shouldn’t have a 5 star score. Also it is hands down the best transitioned game to IOS I’ve experienced. Devs- we’ll done! I’m waiting for another Total War game to release on the IOS. Maybe Shogun?.Version: 1.7.3

Great gameRtw is a very addictive game the only downside isn't even in the game itself. it eats battery life. But overall 5stars.Version: 1.7.3

Liked itI enjoyed it but I would love to see a medieval total war II. Just more vitality for factions to. Better more accurate unit to recruit. Maybe even grass land, trees, rocks ect. Still worth the money and time. Wish there was more like this for iOS..Version: 1.10.5

Amazing!!It’s even better and easier to use than on the computer with the ease of popping in and out when about. Great job guys.Version: 1.9.1

DamnMy game crashed on my XS Max, now when I try to download and play it freezes.Version: 1.10.3

Long awaited, and couldn’t be more satisfiedI’ve always wanted to be able to play the total war games on iPhone and figured it was just too much of a programming challenge. When i found this app had finally been released, I was shocked to find it is EXACTLY like the computer version, which is AMAZING. There have been mimic apps that attempted to recreate what the total was game does, but they’ve never come close. Yes, it’s a touch screen, but once you are used to the controls, it truly is an awesome play that you can take anywhere. Nothing is as fun as the total war series! The world is a better place for this app!.Version: 1.10.3

BEST GAME BUT NEED MORE FACTIONS AND ETC.Hey this is a really good game to play and it’s really fun doing what you want with the armies! It is worth playing👌 but it also needs more factions and specifically Vikings, Japanese and Chinese empire. I’m pretty sure you guys can work with their historical battles and their stories. We also need more army formations, maps and I hope armies can land ships as well. This is the best batte simulator on mobile so what I have suggested for improvements is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! ❤️❤️❤️.Version: 1.10.5

Best game on mobile but could use a little changes.I love playing Rome total war but I wish there where more siege maps in the custom game option. And more units for each faction it would make the gameplay more interesting with more strategy’s to choose from. Even more factions would be amazing, even adding a multiplayer mode to the game would bring all the players back and allow them to keep playing and having fun with the game we all love..Version: 1.10.5

Great game in all but naval battlesI am yet to find another aspect of the gameplay that I dislike. The turn based system as opposed to time based construction/recruitment is great but man, the naval battles kill me. You have absolutely zero control over them and so far as I can tell the outcome almost never seems to be what is expected. Being attacked multiple times by another navy without being able to flee or have any control in incredibly frustrating. This is the only mechanic that drops it from a 5 to a 4 for me. I understand the limitations of the platform but for me something is broken here. I don’t need to have total control over the navy but at least some option other than AI duking it out poorly on my behalf..Version: 1.10.5

GreatIt’s a brilliant game where you can do so many different things including your own battles. It’s really fun and overall a great game and is worth the money. However I would like a few more things added such as more places to fight battles and maybe play as SPQR. Also sometimes when I log on the characters in gameplay are a bit strange and it’s probably a glitch and can be fixed by reloading the game. Still a great game!!.Version: 1.10.5

I love this game👍I love this game but yet there’s this thing with the Roman factions like the legionaries it’s when they go to the enemy instead of charging at the enemy they first throw them charge and it’s getting pretty annoying so can you add a secondary weapon when you play with Roman Factions?.Version: 1.10.5

Great port. Not recommended on iPhone though.Very impressed with the quality of the port, and the controls are probably as good as they could be. So the rating is to give the developers credit for this. But even on an XS Max there is just not enough screen real estate to play the game properly on iPhone. This is a detailed tactical game requiring a huge number of discrete actions to pay well. Controls are just too fiddly on a small screen as there are so many similar commands caused by small (often accidental) swipes, troop selection is very sticky, and you'll go blind playing this for more than one short battle at a time. I'm sure it will work better on the iPad..Version: 1.10.5

Just brilliant.I used to play this game on my PC and I never thought it would make it to be screen on my phone. This is the first time I have bothered to write a review and that’s because this game is phenomenal. The strategy and the battles are meticulously detailed and it is been truly optimised for the iPhone. There is the odd glitch and the auto save feature is a little slow to respond but they are a small price to pay for something which I will happily spend hours on. Thanks Feral for creating such a game!.Version: 1.9.1

Make more total war games availablePlease make more total war games available for Xbox and iPhone iPad etc I’d buy them all lol.Version: 1.10.5

Great support from FeralI purchased this game in 2016 on my iPad upon release, a little hard to control at first but improved, amazing game that I sank so many hour in on original Pc release back in the day! Amazing port, well worth it. When I saw this out for iPhone now aswell I immediately wanted it on there too for convenience but noticed it was £9.99 rather than the cloud symbol, leading me to believe I had to pay a further £9.99!!! So I emailed Feral querying this, I received a reply within an hour assuring me that it wouldn’t charge me again and if it did then they would support me with this, BUT upon selecting to pay for it again it notified me I already had it and it’s free. Amazing service from the devs.Version: 1.9.1

Timeless classicCan’t get enough of this game! I have played through the campaign several times with different factions and there is always something new to learn and to do differently. The game is so in depth, and the level of strategy that goes into the ever changing campaign means it never gets tedious. Do you play full offensive early? Do you play it safe and stockpile your money? Do you block your Roman allies? Maybe befriend the underdog factions to defeat your direct enemies, or sail to the other side of the map for a sneaky takeover? The tactics are endless and always evolving, and the more experienced with the game you get the more daring you can be with how you play. The only flaw I can find is that the controls during the battles are a little clunky, and it can be a bit hard to control large armies but given some time and practice this isn’t too much of an issue..Version: 1.10.5

Imperator!A mightily impressive port of everyone’s favourite Total War game. Sure, the controls are clunkier than on the PC (they were always going to be), and sometimes leave you accidentally charging your cavalry face-first into a Macedonian phalanx. But this can be easily forgiven in light of how perfect the port is in every other way - you can even still use the cheat codes! And in a way, it’s a step up on the PC game, as you can drop in and out to your campaign whenever you want. If you liked the original masterpiece, buy this. If you like historical games, buy this. If you like strategy games, buy this. Heck, just buy it, whoever you are! (Maybe that’ll encourage them to port Medieval II some day...?!).Version: 1.9.3

Unit size reductionRecently every unit has shrunk in quantity as default which is very strange? and for medieval 2 for some reason the screen is very zoomed in as default? Can these both be rectified to their old states? Games before these changes were 5star.Version: 1.14

New idea?I absolutely love this game! As someone who can’t afford a pc I’ve always dreamed of playing a total war game and this was my wish come true this is a game I seriously love and really hope you continue to add more units factions and details to the game! I’ve always sort of hoped there would be some non human factions but I guess that’d be too much like warhammer (really hope that comes to phone too) but I was hoping maybe just maybe there could be a zombie faction or something similar in Rome total war? Like a dlc with a new playable faction and a whole story to go along with it where you either pick whichever faction and play the game normally while also accounting for the new rising zombie faction or play as the zombie faction I just think that would be amazing also I’d really appreciate it if alliances would be made more useful every time I make an ally they refuse to help me and inevitably stab me in the back anyways if this is read thank you for taking the time to read it can’t wait to see what you do with this game!.Version: 1.10.4

One of the best games you can buy but...Incredible gameplay experience and no this isn’t a fake dev review anyway the only thing wrong is that in the campaign you can’t play as SPQR if you are reading the reviews to ponder whether or not to get the game i recommend buying this.Version: 1.10.5

Excellent and immersive but a few tweaks would be helpfulThis game without a shadow of a doubt is one of the best mobile strategy games around, it’s exactly like if not better than the actual version. My only quibble would be that having such a game on a small screen means having to pause regularly and large scale battles are very difficult indeed. A game manual for new players- or a clear link to one would be great, as the one problem I have is that during battles I struggle to get my units to move in a straight line, as they seem to go all out of order, maybe it’s my lack of knowledge but some help here would be much appreciated.Version: 1.10.4

Very good game, has some quirksThis game is amazing. I was a little hesitant to buy it from its $10 cost and how many total war fake cop-outs are online, but this is actually legit. If you’re willing to pay, the $10 is completely worth it. However, there are some little quirks that I found. First off, this game drains your battery like a leech. If you don’t connect your phone to a power source, you won’t be playing this game for long, even if you started at 100% battery life. The second quirk I found is that this game is not big finger friendly. In the later stages of the campaign, when you need to micromanage massive armies, it can be really difficult, especially if you have big fingers since everything is so small and it’s easy to accidentally click on something you didn’t intend to click on. If you have big fingers, I recommend using a DS stylus or some other screen stylus if you have one. A third quirk that I found is that the sound quality of the game isn’t the best. When new background music starts, whether it is the battle theme or the peaceful overview theme, it doesn’t deactivate any soundtrack currently playing. After about 10-15 minutes of playing the game you get the accumulation of 5+ background songs playing over each other, and it sounds quite unnerving. Other than that, this game is really great and can give you months and maybe even years of entertainment..Version: 1.10.4

It’s greatJust like on pc really good easy control as well really recommend it.Version: 1.10.5

Love This Game!I absolutely love this game and I can’t get enough of it, but I’m sure a multiplayer/hot seat mode would be greatly appreciated and accepted. One thing that I will add is that it is close to impossible to rule over all of Rome. Thanks for your time and hard work I know that it is your goal to create good quality games and that, well you already accomplished that. Thanks for your time. One thing that I will add is that I wish you could play as every faction. If you played as the Roman senate you would have to manage the different houses and stop one from getting to powerful to hold the republic together..Version: 1.9.2

Update is greatly appreciatedFirst off I want to give a huge thanks to the devs at feral interactive for this amazing update. Giving us the rest of the factions makes this version of one of my favourite strategy games of all time a true remaster. There are still the issues of the Spanish having eastern voices but oh well. I’m updating this review after being notified of a response from the developers. I kind of forgot that I wrote this because I quit playing the game due to the various audio issues that plagued it. I decided to open the game again recently and noticed no issues this time. I have no idea how I fixed it, but I’m glad to be able to start a new campaign with the volume on..Version: 1.10.4

Perhaps Medieval II next?Love the game. Interesting controls that are a bit clumsy and annoying to use compared to PC but perfectly optimised for a device that lacks a keyboard and mouse. Sometimes a little laggy but nothing as bad as I remember on PC way back in the days. Only grievance is that the iPads complete edition is more expensive than the PC’s one and that seems silly for a game that’s nearly 16 years old now. Apart from that it is a nostalgia filled masterpiece. Perhaps a port of medieval II could be sometime down the road?.Version: 1.10.5

They guyFirst and importantly THANK YOU SO BLOODY MUCH FOR THIS GAME IT IS BEYOND AMAZING ABD THE BEST WAR GAME OF THE TIMES THANK YOU. However there is one slight problem I can play everything except the SPOR Roman senator that sorta takes away the excitement of feeling like your a true Roman fighting different fractions. I’m would like an update not just for me but anyone else who agrees that we should also have the options of commanding the heart of ROME. This would be one reason to give you way more credit than you need even so this game is still amazing. But just so I’m aware will there be an update where we do have that option of commanding the sentate or other fraction. Please let me know thank you.Version: 1.9.1

Control changesI love the game as I’ve played it on pc the only really issue I got is when ur trying to play a battle the battle controls are strange could u possibly put and option in where u on need to press once and drag to form up troops? The 2 finger thing is awkward when I play this all I can actually play is the campaign map as much as I want to play battles I can’t because the contrails are slightly awkward do you think that maybe u could put a setting in which allows people to customise controls abit and switch between one finger drags and the normal as what the game is in now?.Version: 1.10.5

Impressive!Best iOS game ever! I’m really enjoying it. I can’t say anything bad about it other than the fact there’s no multiplayer. My friends and I would love to play it together. Could you do it the next update please. Again I love it..Version: 1.9.3

Good but...I’ve had this downloaded ever since it was released on iOS but as of late the game is constantly crashing either loading up a campaign or as soon as you load up into the campaign map. Not sure what has changed with the game over time but this wasn’t something that was an issue previously when I downloaded the game originally. Really love the fact I can play Total War games on the go (and in the games entirety as Mobile games are generally lack luster, having a PC experience on a hand held is brilliant) and I hope to see issues resolved sooner rather than later..Version: 1.10.5

Great Game but looking for future updates.I love the game it’s amazing and I’m glad it’s mobile compatible, looking forward to seeing Total War Rome II maybe if it’s possible it could be compatible? But I love the replayability just wished there was cooler death animations just like in Total War Rome II.Version: 1.10.5

Incredible..Amazing game, used to play it on PC and couldn’t believe it is now available on iPhone. The controls are absolutely fine once you get the hang of them, it just takes a bit more patience than using a mouse, obviously. In battles it is best to unselect a unit before clicking on the next, otherwise it is easy to send the first charging off in a random direction. Stick to that and you’ll have no problems. Only one tiny niggle is the difficulty trying to rotate a unit or group of units. Not a deal breaker though. The game works incredibly well on iPhone, the only time it crashes is when the battery level falls below 20%. Just keep your phone charged. Oh and yes Medieval 2 would be a good shout!.Version: 1.10.5

Volume problemThis game it’s just amazing, I had no problem since I installed but yesterday I experienced a volume glitch,. The volume from the from the game introduction normally goes away when we join in the campaign or in a battle custom but it stay’s , the same with every nation background introduction music, in my case the Julii family, (red romans) please help me fix this issue I really love it. I also have rome total war barbarian invasion and its as good as the Rome total war and I’m looking forward to buy the new Alexander invasion so I hope you guys to fix this thanks and I hope to get a response soon..Version: 1.7.3

Best Game On IOSThis is without doubt the best game you can buy on the App Store, no in app purchases which are just the worst thing about every other game you find on here. Just a massive game you can spend hours and hours on! For the money I can’t argue enough how worth it this is. It’d be great to see Feral supported so more total war games come to iOS, napoleon total war would be incredible but any total war game is enough for me. Thank you feral for a fantastic port of an absolute classic and please keep up the good work..Version: 1.7.3

GreatThis has to be one of the best games on iPad. Controls take a bit of time to get used to but a good change over from pc to iOS. Only hope they can make Total War Warhammer next. Great job.Version: 1.10.4

No RemasteredI am totally into the Rome: Total War Series on both PC & Mac and I am also playing the RTW on my iPhone and its cool and I am ok with the UI. Remastered was released earlier this year for PC & Mac but not for iOS and considering the game engine & UI for Remastered is identical to the original RTW that came to iOS with nothing more different than a Fresh Coat of Paint - then why cant the Remastered come to iOS? Remastered uses the exact same game engine - exact same UI. I emailed the Devs asking the question & they replied that there are no plans For Years to being Remastered to iOS. The Devs did not give me any details for their decision but it was very disappointing news. I’ll gladly pay $30 for Remastered so please reconsider brining Remastered to iOS..Version: 1.10.5

Really goodCan you guys add Chinese as a language.Version: 1.7.3

Crashes ruining the gameI’ve been playing this game on PC for many years and it’s truly the best strategy game I’ve ever played. But when I started a campaign with the Roman Scipii, I was attacked, the battle finished with close victory and as I pressed the tick to go to the campaign screen the game crashes. I loaded back in and press continue battle since it had saved the battle. But it then finished with clear defeat. Once again as I try to go to the campaign screen it crashes and won’t stop..Version: 1.10.5

Good but battle controls not workingGreat game, loved the PC version and this is a pretty good port to iOS. Big fall down for me (might be user error, not sure) is that I can’t select a unit then drag it to position it and orient it in the direction I want. Video tutorial says two finger drag does that, when I do it just moves the map around. Makes combat very difficult when I can’t effectively orient my individual units..Version: 1.10.5

What I've done and what I've receivedI literally Bought the iPad just to play this game (and just make it my game thing), I'm not really disappointed, if this is your first time playing a total war game, you will love this game, it is by far one of the best strategy/war games in the store, still, if you played the CPU version you will realize the differences, these differences are the change in scale of battles, to fit with the ipads mobility, you still get most of total wars immersion but with a small quality drop, but with right marketing I know total war is something that could take over a large part of the gaming community, I am very happy the creators are bringing these games to mobile devices , and hope the consoles are next, I really believe total war games could be a triple A thing, please keep expanding, one day Everyone could be talking about these games like they do skyrim and GTA, you better hurry before mount and blade is also a good game expanding its reaches.Version: 1.7.3

Needs a few touch upsSuch a great game! Loses a star for the clunky touch controls. Trying to drag around the map and having your selected units accidentally march into a slaughter is pretty infuriating. It would help immensely if it had keyboard support with hot keys, that might be enough to earn that last star..Version: 1.7.3

Battlefield FormationsI previously wrote a poor review for this game for one reason. I though I couldn’t control troop formations on the battle field. The developers have showed me how to do it (very easy using a to fingered tap and hold). So now I am correcting my previous review and giving the game 5 stars. Highly recommend. Awesome game! I’ve loved this game for so many years in its PC form. It’s the best Total War ever created in my opinion. It’s amazing how they have managed to miniaturize the game for iPhone. But there is one serious compromise they have had to make. You can’t determine the formation of your troops on the battlefield. This makes battles seriously difficult to fight. You can’t determine how wide your unit formations are, or how deep. You can’t select multiple units and stretch them across the battlefield in your desired formation. A serious flaw that makes game play difficult, stupid, and boring. I hope they fix this flaw in future versions. If they do, the game will get 5 stars..Version: 1.10.5

Great game, but one particularly annoying bug.First and foremost, thank you for making the game playable on mobile. Everything is how I imagined it to be and more. The controls are intuitive and the battles are as exciting as PC, and the campaign mechanics are there too. There is one bug that tends to ruin the game at times. Sometimes during battles, the soldier’s models will be lowered in quality and their limbs will look like spikes. The shadows and trees also break and the game runs considerably worse. Even if I restart the app, the bug sometimes persists until I get lucky. Overall, I love the game. If this is fixed, I will be sure to change my review to 5 stars. Once again, thanks a lot!.Version: 1.10.5

Excellent IPhone total war experienceRome total war is always my favourite game in the series due to its great unit design (just look at how dull Rome 2 units are compared to Rome 1) and the perfectly paced battles (rather than the slow paced battle from Medieval 2 onwards). Therefore this Rome port is great news for me as the PC version is no longer supporting the latest HW so it is actually a smoother experience. Great job from the port team. That said it is not the full fat experience as it lags mod support , no full roster (same in original version but can be easily unlocked through txt editing). Also where is my cheat elephant unit!? Lastly there is no multiplayer mode which is a huge disappointment as it is what everyone wants the mostly. Hopefully it can be added in the future but I doubt it as it doesn’t seem to be the priority..Version: 1.9.1

Amazong! 😍Just good, Spent alot of time on it... Really addicting and fun! Really recommend getting it!.Version: 1.10.5

Great gameReally nice game and would love to get total war 2 soon , also it be bit better if there is also no term condition mode to victory and you can play kinda free roam..Version: 1.10.5

Great GameHighly recommended for total war fans :).Version: 1.10.5

Wonderful but missing one thingMultiplayer would be good but other then that fantastic port once you adjust to the controls.Version: 1.10.5

Great game but brokenThis is a great game, heaps of entertainment but I can no longer player due to the first issue being when I click continue campaign it crashes the game and second being and the issues that’s currently happening to me now is that it just gets stuck as soon as I start it up.Version: 1.9.2

Brilliant loved playing!Playing the campaign is amazing. If you want to fight your way to conquering the whole world legit you can do and also witch is amazing you can cheat the campaign with codes look up Rome total war phone cheat codes. You can also do custom battles Whitch is amazing and I really recommend this app Not 1 bad thing to say about it at all. And please release a new one for mobile I’d love to see a napoleon one if it’s possible.Version: 1.10.5

Bugs and crashesIt’s obviously an amazing game and the transition from computer to a mobile version was fantastic. There are some minor issues such as when I want to destroy a building from a captured city the game will crash. Other than that it gives me great pleasure playing the game even with the occasional crash, it is still very good. If a new update with these little fixes occurs, my rating rating to the perfect 5/5 star change..Version: 1.10.5

Ultimate port, needs multiplayer and all factionsThis game is great, I've spent hours playing it and continue to find out new things all the time. The campaign continues to be interesting, with the 11 different factions. However, battles would be much more fun if you could fight real people on a multiplayer system. This would ensure a continued playing group. For all those looking at the price tag and saying hmmm, it is not much compared to PlayStation and Xbox games, and is mobile. Overall a great game. It’s been a while since I wrote what was above, and I have some opinions about the latest update. It has increased functionality and provides easy access to stats but it is way less aesthetic than it was before. This is not bad but perhaps could easily be fixed. I still think that multiplayer should be added or ported in an all inclusive Rome total war collection. The only other thing is that it would be great if you, feral interactive, could change the game files so that we the people can play all factions. I don’t see why you can’t do this and it would result in me playing more to try the unique starting positions and unit types..Version: 1.9.1

LORD OF THE RINGSCan you guys please add a DLC Lord of the rings please. 🙏. I’ll buy it 😭.Version: 1.10.5

Please read I have a few suggestionsI just can’t get off of this game. I think it is the bomb. I love this game and it’s great strategy and factions. I wish you could tell your archers to put a stake in the ground in front of themselves. I wish the cavalry could dismount. I wish I could get a diplomat to say anything. I wish you could play the rebel faction and Rome . I wish Rome would fight and conquer territory.I wish you could trade troops with other countries. I wish that after a while a fort became a town. I wish you could play with other people, it would make your game a lot better. Over all I love this game and would recommend it to anyone who wants it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!⚔️😃SEE YOU ON THE BATTLEFIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also wish you could play a sea battle ; you could completely destroy a town ; there would be Vikings who would come take a town , pillage, and leave ; and if you went through a mountain some would die from the cold, and falling ; I wish you could have your own person killed by a assassin; and a storm would sink ships; and you could attack at night;1 forced march and last the red line would vanish after all units are in rout ..Version: 1.10.5

Excellent Transfer to PadMassive fan of Medieval War, so was wary of purchasing the app version of Rome and paying £10 for it. Shouldn’t of worried, the game has transferred across and is as good as I remember. Campaign mode will take over your life and all the original game play is there. A few minor touch screen issues when selecting units in play or dragging out units from list, stopping it getting 5 stars but nothing that detracts from game play. Medieval War next please!.Version: 1.7.3

Great, but I do wish controls were betterMy biggest frustration with this game is not being able to easily shape units. It was much better in medieval 2. In that one if I tap and hold selected unit(s), I could shape them in formation and easily position them. There is a way to do it in this one by using two fingers, but it’s really tricky and finicky. It’s also better than medieval 2 in that the other factions aren’t magic and basically impossibly spawn enemy armies. For example I fought Milan and they had no castles but were still getting knights. Other factions would also have no money like me buys still come and smack me with fresh armies consistently and I couldn’t even pay to keep them replenished. Other than the controls issue, I’ve always loved this game since it’s original release. Such a variety of potential play styles. Horse archers are broken..Version: 1.10.5

Worth the money!I loved this total war on pc. I just purchased about a week ago and it’s been fantastic on iOS as well as far as the game itself, my only frustration which is likely just due to the platform, is the controls on the battle map are a little difficult without constant pausing because your units may completely shift their lines sideways or you may select too many units when in the middle of a skirmish trying to out maneuver your opponent. It just lacks the precision of the mouse which is unavoidable on a phone or tablet but if you micromanage your units and like to let the battle run real time you will have a harder time doing so. Fantastic game still and overall worth the money if you love total war and this comes from someone who never buys phone games..Version: 1.14

Love this game... butI downloaded the game 3/4 days ago and after hours and hours, have only just completed my first campaign (maybe I’m just not great) The game is excellent, runs really well, incredible details (families, traits, battle gameplay) and the campaign has countless options to complete and play through. The “but” in the title is something I haven’t been able to solve, either through the game or online forums and it’s the constant rioting and rebellions I experienced through my campaign. Absolutely nothing I did solved the problem? Some cities were left untouched and became civilised and in others I would build structures to help, increase governors. Nothing seemed to help and suddenly I was losing cities every turn, with 6/7 all rioting. Maybe it’s my management and there is something I can do to stop this, however the tutorials show you nothing on this and the forums online also can’t help..Version: 1.10.5

Great butI think this is a splendid game with great battle simulations. The only aspect I would love to see added is naval combat. This would make the campaign a lot more enjoyable, instead of having the battles simulated..Version: 1.9.2

I love it butHi I really love your game at all but for the Greeks and Seleucids and a few other factions they all have pikes I know that’s what the Greek world had but they also had swordsman I know the Seleucids have a silver shield legionary but that takes three turns to make and that’s pretty crazy I was wondering if you could do an update were the Greeks and the Seleucid empire have a one tern swordsman because I know they both had infantryman with swords that would just make the Greek and Seleucids more fun to play with and could you please add multiplayer where multiple people can go into one game to do sieges and battles that would be really fun and instead of doing auto resolve with ships can you please add were you can control your ships and all and can you please think about adding a ROME: Total War 2 to the iPad that would be amazing anyways I hope you see this because it really needs to be updated into the game thank you!.Version: 1.9.4

Great gamesI love that I can play this awesome game anywhere! Would really love to see more total war games made available for iOS, Shogun 2 in particular..Version: 1.10.5

WowI used to be a huge fan of these games on pc I bought total war Rome, Attila, shogun 1 and 2. I loved these games and still play them once and awhile. I wanted a game like those on mobile forever and I’ve tried looking for any ripoffs or anything like it. There was nothing so when I saw this was made I got very excited and instantly bought it. It is everything I wanted except for one thing. I’m not gonna go into super details but the only small problem is the battle controls are a little wonky and annoying sometimes. if you need more detail look st other reviews as that’s what a lot of them are about. but otherwise if you want to control an army in a mass battle or have played on pc and want to play it anywhere this is most definently the game for you.Version: 1.9.2

Continuous Update = Positive ExperienceSince the launch of Rome Total War it has always bothered me that the radius icon which shows the range of the missile units were missing in the game, but it’s FINALLY in the game! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Keep up the incredible work with this game and all the other games! I do hope we see Rome 2 Total War in the App Store..Version: 1.10.3

Really good game for your phoneMy how we have developed. First Archimedes Screw, then the humble toilet to now having total war on your phone! Yes a full PC game on your phone! What a massive advance in technology! I was thinking about buying an iPad Pro just so I could play total war as I had seen it a long time ago. I would have told my wife it was for ‘work’ and ‘browsing the internet’ but really I wanted to play total war on it! To help me inform me inform my decision I checked again on my phone and it was available to buy for your phone! I stumped up the ten pounds and started playing immediately! What a game! I’m still getting used to it and making sure I have enough men in my armies to go forth and conquer but it is a solid game! Only issue I have is that it is on my phone and fingers are too big so sometimes I select the wrong units or wrong path when in battle and then all my men get wiped out by the AI. Other than that it’s great! Let’s hope civilisation 6 comes out then my life will be complete!.Version: 1.9.2

Condensed version of the originalExactly like the original but condensed down for the ipad (20 troops per unit instead of 200) which is fine. But you could have fixed the bugs that faced the original game for goodness sake! I.e. once troops are split into formations during a battle, they will NOT attack together when you double click enemy troops that are far away making flanking an absolute headache.. plus the other annoyances such as not being able to select which troops you would like to command when being attacked by an AI when you have a second lot reinforcing your main army... Why would i want the ai to control my full army with a general over my 200 horses? Please update this OLD game and make it better, it has infinite potential in your hands.. my head is exploding! [Plus other DATED problems[uhm, this game is like 10 years old, come on?..]] If you start tweaking the mechanics this would be 5* hands down!!.Version: 1.7.3

An absolute must!If you ever had this for PC back in the day then relive it on the iphone! The game is exactly the same only thing missing is online! If they can get online battles that would make it even better! Only thing if you do buy it make sure you properly go through the tutorials especially for battles just so you know how to navigate your troops.Version: 1.9.1

Good but..It is brilliant there is one thing I need to know though my iPad crashes when it gets to 10% is there a setting that can change it? Also how do you do enhanced zoom?.Version: 1.10.5

Game is great, but what about Macedon?First off, the game is great. Buy it. However, as anyone who’s played the PC version knows, there are some things that are fun to do in the PC version, but are impossible to do in the iOS one. First off: there are certain factions that can’t be unlocked, such as Macedon. There is frankly no reason for them to be unplayable, so why not make them unlockable? Second off, there are some settings that can be edited in the PC version through text files. Some have been ported over, but others, like unlimited men on battlefield and AI prefer naval invasions, have not been. Is it possible to get them ported over? Keep up the good work Feral!.Version: 1.9.4

Classic PC game for your phoneExcellent game, recommend to any total war fan or strategy gamer , the controls are fiddly but after a while you get used to it ( with the occasional slip up ) , Pausing was always a thing even in PC and even more vital during big battles on a phone , but the game runs fine , it’s a full PC game on your phone it’s amazing lol The only thing I would want the developers to add is a way to choose the direction the troops are looking when setting up for a battle , I have to move them in the right direction as the battle commences.Version: 1.10.5

The best PC game on mobileSeriously one of the best PC game brought to mobile. I downloaded this game a couple years ago and I noticed there were some bugs as it was expected especially when you’re converting a game from the early 2000’s into a new mobile game version. But I recently downloaded it again when I got my new iPhone 14 and WOW, there’s been some major improvement to make it more mobile compatible and user friendly. I still can’t believe one of the best PC games is on mobile. Making this in my opinion, the BEST MOBILE GAME EVER!.Version: 1.14

Battle controls need work :(Edit: Thanks for responding, I appreciate the team’s dedication to customer support. I did some closer testing and found that the drawing instead of scrolling results from the touch controls simply being too imprecise. You can try scrolling quite a ways off from the actual unit and it will still register like you’re trying to draw a path. (I’ve noticed this imprecision contributes to difficulty placing units during deployment as well). If the battle touch controls could be tightened up just a bit, this game would be elevated to near perfection. The further I’ve gotten into the campaign, the more frustrated I’ve become with the battle controls. Panning across the field while units are selected is an absolute pain because the game will think you’re trying to draw a path. Drawing a path is a neat function in theory but only makes sense on a larger screen. It makes me wonder if the game was ever thoroughly play-tested on an iPhone. Please allow us to toggle the path drawing function - it would make battles infinitely better on small screen!.Version: 1.9.2

Controls and my personal reviewDevelopers have answered my previous review and help me get some answers which I do appreciated. And they do care. If those who loved the pc version of Rome total war it’s pretty much the same in some expect. Yes the pc is a whole lot better but as a mobile total war game it has some potential just as the pc game in your pocket. Just getting used too especially controls because you don’t have a keyboard and mouse. This pocket version don’t require internet connections which is great. This game does eat some battery if your going to play for a bit. Other then that I believe it’s worth the $ for this pocket version of total war. At least I get to play again. Next would be like shogun total war. If it does come out yes I’ll buy it through the App Store just like this one. Btw give it a chance and play a bit you might like love it..Version: 1.9.2

AMAZINGThis is the best game on iphone right now so please please please make total war medieval i would love to play more total war games.Version: 1.9.2

Almost too good - where did the last two hours go?!Fantastic port. If you love Total War games this is worth the money to relive an old classic. I can’t believe a game that struggles along on my Mac now runs flawlessly on my iPhone X. Fingers crossed this will lead to more TW games being ported across. While the campaign map game works great, my only complaint is that selecting, grouping and positioning your armies is very tricky and prone to errors during battles. This part of the game needs more refinement to make it truly work on the iPhones screen size. Would still recommend..Version: 1.9.1

Amazing! New titles maybe?Lovely game, controls fiddly but you’ll get used to it! The devs are an amazing service if you need any help and the graphics are very good runs very smooth and it even runs smooth on an iPhone SE which I thought was astonishing and if you love the ancient era or strategy you will love this! The sieges are my personal favourite part of the game! By the way devs, could you release Total war Medieval and maybe even Total War Warhammer and/or Total War Warhammer 2? That would be amazing!!!.Version: 1.10.5

Awesome gameAwesom.Version: 1.10.5

Old playerI have been playing Rome total war since it came out it is a brilliant game even if now we can’t bribe other armies to join my faction anymore I love the game and I have bought it at least 3 times so far and a Forth One when I get a new iPad and I can’t recommend the game enough.Version: 1.10.3

AmazingSince the iPhone Xs update the game runs fantastic. Made great memories on this as a kid on my pc and now I look forward to making many more on my Xs Max. Essentially a straight port from the pc experience, a deep exciting strategy game which will keep you entertained for hours in end. If you’re even slightly interested in strategy games or the era that it is set in, then you owe it to yourself to purchase this gem. Best strategy game on the App Store hands down, amazing game..Version: 1.9.2

Great GameOverall, Rome Total War is a great game. Any fan of strategy or RTS games should absolutely consider buying it. However, there are some bugs. The most prominent of these is a weird glitch pertaining to the fog and war and console commands. Whenever I start a new campaign, the fog of war is off, and I cannot open the console command to fix it. I personally consider this a game breaking bug, but others might not, or might not experience it. Of not for that, Rome Total War would easily get a 5/5 review Edit: Forget everything about the bugs. It was user error. Rome gets a 5/5 review!!!.Version: 1.14

Please make medieval 2 with all the expansionsPlease dear god please make total war medieval 2 as a mobile app with all of the expansions. I would pay for each expansion separately. It doesn’t matter. We must have this game 😂 thank you so much for Rome total war. I supremely hope there is more to come. Even a port of total war shogun would be awesome..Version: 1.10.5

I love Total War but this is ridiculous...I have always been a fan of the game series Total War!! I love the strategy aspect and actual time you have to give to win the the game! It's always exciting, fun, and easily the best game on the App Store!!! With all that said I find absolutely INFURIATING that 50% of the time I divulge into an in depth battle, I have fought through the lagging, the endeavors of a heroic victory, and I have won the battle. The moment you see your after battle kills screen and you're ready to move forward the game begins to load and BAM!!! THE GAME CRASHES!! The half an hour to an hour you just spent winning a battle that was highly out of favor is all lost....it takes everything that is so great about this game and ruins it. I am giving this game a 1 star because it has been months and instead of updating this problem they've released expansions that do the exact same thing....i hope to see this problem fixed immediately so I can give this game the 5 stars it deserves..Version: 1.7.3

ExcellentMais avec le système de recrutement que tu peux avoir une unité à la fois c’est un peut long pour avoir une bonne armée.Version: 1.10.5

Impressive mobile portI was thinking to my self for a while, surely it’s impossible to replicate the scale of the PC version of Rome, but oh how wrong I was. At first the controls were slightly difficult, but after two battles I got used to it and haven’t stopped playing since. It reminds me exactly of when I played this game on PC. This is exactly the game I’ve been looking for on mobile in my spare time. Definitely worth the money..Version: 1.10.5

Amazing game, with minor flaws. This game goes down as one of my all time favourite games. Feral interactive has done yet another, tremendous job recreating this classic for the iOS. It runs amazingly on my iPad. Only get some frame drops when the battles go into the 6000s and up, which is a bummer, but I didn’t expect much, given its on my iPad. As far as I’m concerned, the games feral interactive have ported over to the iOS from pc, like company of heroes, tropico, are some of, if not the best game to have on your iOS device. And the total war Rome series is no exception. The controls are smooth and intuitive, although could be improved greatly. I hope in medieval 2 total war, they will add more options for the touch controls. Similar to like was done for tropico and company of heroes for iPad. The main thing I think is needed, is the ability to change the “touch and hold” functions to react after holding for 0.1 seconds, like company of heroes has for the ability circle. One other minor thing, that I could see being a problem for people on iPhones especially, is the unit selection. The only way I could see anyone using an iPhone being able to select units is with the unit cards at the bottom of the screen. Even on the iPad, I find that the unit selection box, (the area in which if I press, it will select the unit) is far too big. Especially for archers (at least for the Roman’s) Some units selection box, are massive. I think those need to be toned down big time, it would be a lot better if there was at least an option to select units by clicking closer to their flag. Currently, it’s near impossible to move units around quickly, without constantly selecting other units in the process (adding a quicker touch and hold function would also help alleviate this problem). All in all, this game is well worth the price, and as far as iPad games goes is surely among the best. The controls can be clunky at times, but I’m sure with medieval 2 they will be enhanced greatly. Conclusion :definite buy.Version: 1.10.5

Please make moreIt would be great if you guys made other total war games available for apple phones such as shogun and napoleon. But other then that this is amazing.Version: 1.10.5

PerfectPlease have Medieval Total War mobile version as well. Please..Version: 1.10.5

Amazing! Would play more, but...Rome: Total War is honestly an amazing and strategic game to play. I love everything about it, from the gameplay to the soundtrack, even to the support from such an amazing company. Everything is perfect about this game, and certainly well worth the price. Although, I do have two queries. 1. What happened to Rome: Total War Alexander? I was thinking of playing it as well, along with Barbarian Invasion, as it was half the price as Rome, but it seemed to have disappeared from the store. I would have loved to play it. 2. How do I go to war in Imperial Campaign? As I am quite a new player, I don’t exactly know how to actually battle the enemy in the campaign, and so am currently playing custom and historical battles. Thanks so much for installing such an amazing and timeless game and thank you for reading this. I cannot wait to see what Feral do next..Version: 1.10.4

Brilliant! Except....The touch controls can be a little fiddly in battle and campaign. Other than that this game really is brilliant. Graphics are good, there is hardly any lag, which explains the unit size. Battles are pretty good though I find myself pausing when I want to readjust my formation, especially the hide in the corner routine. Diplomacy is just as I remember. AI makes alliance then stabs you in the back. Well worth the money. I'm begging Feral to release Medieval Total War 2, please. Wanted to review after latest update. Note to developers. The added factions are brilliant. Been able to scroll down in RomeShell is a god send. While a good idea, I don’t like range display for missile units. Also game has become very glitchy especially in battles, and the game crashes more often than usual. Oh yes please release Medieval Total War 2..Version: 1.10.3

ExcellentWorth every penny..Version: 1.5.1

Great Depth of play but weak UIAcknowledging that for a game with this much depth creating a user interface that keeps up with all of the play options is challenging I feel this is the game’s greatest weakness. That said, I have played it multiple times so it is clearly not a dealbreaker. Very good value..Version: 1.10.5

Great GameIt’s an amazing game. The developers did a good job with the iPad version. Good graphics and works perfectly fine. Controls are well designed. Currently waiting for LoTR and RTW 2 Thanks.Version: 1.10.5

One of the Greatest Strategy Games of All TimesI played this game when it came out for PC and I loved it then. I was thrilled when I found out it was available on iPhone. It is the perfect mix of turn based and real-time strategy games. It is largely historically accurate allowing you to take the helm of one of three historical Roman families. I seriously cannot out put this game down. Every so often there are issues with the touch interface but they are not obtrusive. It is worth the price. This game will have your enemies crying, “A cloud has fallen on our shore, the mighty hand and sword of Roman war.” “And remember, our Roman gods are watching. Make sure they are not ashamed!”.Version: 1.10.5

I love this gameThis has to be one of the most addictive games that me and my friends have ever played but can you please try to make an online campaign mode as well for these games in other words try make a campaign that involves each player as a faction also can you try to make the S.P.Q.R as a playable faction on campaign as well. Please do all this and me and my friends will love this game even more thanks 😊.Version: 1.10.5

Love this gameI use to play this when I was playing this o my PC now I’m glad that it available for iPads and I phones. I love it like the first time I got this game. Just wanting to know how to open Roman shell for iPhones or instruction would be cool..Version: 1.10.3

Love the game but I have a frustrating bug that makes it harder to enjoyI absolutely love the gameplay and how well it reflects the original game; however I have a big that I can’t fix where the music won’t stop after loading screens. For example, I start a campaign, and the main menu music is playing on the world map, and let’s say I attack a settlement right away, the music from the main menu, the campaign map, and the battle engagement music are all going off at the same time. It gets to a point where sound doesn’t work at all in the game. I have to turn the music off, or have multiple music pieces playing at once. I don’t know how it was caused, but I hope it will be fixed soon..Version: 1.9.2

Best game on the App StoreI love this game very much, I have spent hours on it. I have played the pc version and was my favourite game. But please ad the SPQR and Macedonian faction please! It would make the game even better!.Version: 1.7.3

Childhood GameThis is the best Strategy game out there compared to other games like it, although the graphics are old it still beats modern garbage games made by mega corporations that copy their old games and put a price tag so high you could buy 2 ps4 controllers or this game 20 times over. Yeah. Buy it. Do it now. DO IT, JUST DO IT!.Version: 1.10.5

Wait... how do you do other factions in the campaign again?I don’t remember how I did it, but I remember playing with a lot of factions, I love the game, but how do you do it? Please tell me Edit: thank you for letting me know how to do it, developers! Also I love the fact that the game has aspects that are historically accurate to the Rome timelines, though this can be changed by the player for example, Egypt taking over the world. I love this game! Very well Made, good job. If you made more, like... some of the other total war games on pc, like total war arena (I played it at pax west!) or perhaps adding aspects to the game like full action ship battles like in the PC, that would be awesome! I know some people who made pirate: Caribbean hunt who could help with these aspects. The game is perfect. Keep updating!.Version: 1.7.3

New Review for slight tweaksOkay, so my last review stated that the game is well worth the £10 price tag, I reckon they could charge £15 and it people would still buy it because it’s an amazing port and the controls are really good (albeit a little struggle to get used to at first, but that’s the same with almost any decent game on mobile), I have one issue, when I open the game, it lets me change orientation so I can flip my phone and it’ll switch that way up, until I’ve been playing for 10 minutes, then I can’t change the orientation, it locks for some reason, which is annoying when my charger is to my left(/right) and the port is on the right(/left) as the game is pretty battery intensive (even on an iPhone XR, I get a couple hours if I’m at battery but if not I need it on charge), please release a small update for this. My other issue is the crashes, I have R:TW and R:TW:BI, both seem to have issues with crashing, not so much in the battles as I’d expected, it’s weirdly on the battle map I get most of my crashes, especially towards the mid-late game stage, I get crashes every 10-20 minutes late game. If there’s any further optimisation possible, please implement, even if it’s a slight reduction to graphics on the units on the battle map. Thank you for the game, keep up the good work..Version: 1.10.5

Super fun but a few thingsWhen I first got this game I was blown away by it it’s super fun and exiting but as I played it I realized a few flaws for one if you have a diplomat you can pretty much bribe anything on to your side which is a little unfair also it’s way to easy to bribe loyalty is such a minor factor in this game and also why can you bribe entire cities? I mean you don’t even have to have an army you can just throw gold around until everyone has joined you, also all the units behave so cowardly I mean only the general’s unit behaves like an actual military unit all the other units just run when they take a few casualties like the Barbarians in the day almost all of them would fight to the last man but in this game they act nothing like the real thing but overall a good game.Version: 1.10.5

More updatesThis game is amazing. I have had a blast playing it. But it would be nicer if you added more units for certain factions. (Goes for the other expansions as well) Also maybe nerf some units because the Greeks feel overpowered because every unit can form phalanx and is more of a pike unit..Version: 1.10.5

Really really really fun... But.I’ve had a blast playing this game and sometimes staying up all night playing it. I remember playing this on pc a couple years back and now it’s mobile! Truly innovating and addicting! But on the other hand little things like an enemy general refusing to die when completely surrounded by your troops and sometimes killing a whole unit of yours before he dies. Chariots are a little overpowered as that they can outrun Calvary for some reason. Also reinforcements sometimes just freezes outside the map. Speaking about the map, when the game lags it’ll throw you to a random perspective on the map. Other than that I’m very thankful for this game cause it’s a complete blast to play!!!!.Version: 1.9.4
