✓ Needs improvementTiming is very unrealistic... it shouldn’t take 50 seconds of time to run a 18 yard punt return. A whole punt play realistically is on average is about 15-20 seconds max. It’s frustrating as a player to be behind by 1 point with 2 mins left in the 3rd qtr and the opposing team runs the clock out in the 3rd and 4th qtrs with small runs and an occasional short pass. That’s ridiculous, if you can’t fix the timing then at least make the qtrs 15 mins long instead of 5 mins long. This game has tremendous potential, it just needs to be realistic with the 15 min clock and the timing of how long each play takes..Version: 2.9.1

✓ Pointless grindingTypical mobile game designed to get you to pay to skip all the repetitive grinding. There is an auto play mode which gives the game a chance to be fun but still most of your time is beating on weak opponents for team upgrades , very boring. The way matches are presented to you is odd, you can’t always find a tough opponent, sometimes your only option is someone very weak. When you do find a tough opponent half of time they are so much better you have no chance. Better balance to the games structure and opponents and I’d love this game..Version: 3.10

✓ Warning they are ok with cheatingI was playing in a MVP Tournament which has valuable rewards. One guy entered 7 teams while the rest of us had one. I complained but nothing happened. Several people got 2 players that were released but then the powers that be took the players back saying they were not suppose to be released and instead replaced them with useless Recruiting Points since they had all the players they needed. The game has refused to answer even though these players had spent thousands of dollars to get the players and gold they needed..Version: 3.0.8

✓ A Good Game Gone BadThis used to be a great, fun game. I was in a great alliance and we were fighting every week to see how far we could go as an alliance and individually too. After spending time and some money to develop a great team, Pik Pok changed the structure so it no longer matters how good your team is unless you spend a lot of money. They became greedy under the guise of making the game more “fair”. How is it fair that someone new having not spent time and money be given an even playing field. There’s always plenty of newer players for them to compete against. Now there’s nothing to play for anymore unless you spend real money. No thanks. If you want my advice, leave this game on the shelf, and save your time and money for something more worthwhile..Version: 2.5

✓ Game is RiggedNo matter how much you invest to improve your team, your opponent improves more, making the entire effort a waste of time. This is incredibly unrealistic in almost every aspect. There have been games where I never touched the ball in the first half. In the higher levels, I’ve started the 4th quarter with possession, and run out of time before getting in scoring position. It takes a minute to run one play? Come on. Don’t get me started on turnovers. You pick a play with the smallest chance of a turnover, and there it is. You are lucky to get three or four possessions per game, and then you turn it over twice? Please. The worst part is that you can win as many games as you want, but you can’t advance to a bowl game unless you win every game by 10 points. How is that possible? You have to score every time you have the ball. And shut out your opponent. It’s really bad. I’m very close to deleting this game..Version: 3.0.13

✓ Nicely done but requires real $ to excelThis is fun and captures much of the excitement of college football (and that’s even more impressive since it was apparently created by kiwis in NZ). The campus setup and culture around college football is excellent, and they’ve simplified game play to make it move along. Unfortunately the game is also, if not a money pit, a money hole. In order to rise and develop your team, you really have to spend actual $. If not, you need to commit to many days of long, repetitive tournaments for small amounts of gold. One way you can double the gold or training points is to watch promo ads. Unfortunately this is mostly impossible because it gives you an error message about 80% of the time. It’s a major issue that I’ve contacted the developers multiple times about, but doesn’t get fixed. Unless you pay $9.99 a month to be a VIP, the game becomes boring and demoralizing. It’s a nice tribute to college football, but more of a fun diversion while you’re waiting in line somewhere..Version: 3.0.4

✓ Forced LossesI played for less than a month. I bought VIP and spent an additional $30 in an attempt to upgrade my roster and gain access to more plays. Neither of those provided enough value to be worthwhile. Roster progression is slow and frustrating but I can deal with that by taking extended breaks. What I can’t deal with is losses through obvious, forced outcomes. I’m deleting this game because the rate at which I’m experiencing them is increasing rapidly. Believe the reviews, even positive reviews acknowledge forced losses. The game does this in an attempt to make you spend money to upgrade your roster. At first you won’t have any issues but the more you play you will see it more and more. Getting extremely unlucky for one play or one possession I can deal with. But I can’t deal with getting extremely unlucky for 3 straight quarters, several times a week. All of my losses happened the exact same way. I get a two score lead against a team I normally beat with ease, and then the AI goes on an abusive and statistically impossible rampage to win the game on the last play of regulation or on a 2pt conversion in 3OT. Every single loss happens in these exact ways. So yeah, that I can’t deal with and so I deleted the game..Version: 3.0.13
✓ READ BEFORE GETTING GAMEI started this game the year 2023 it’s 2024 how don’t have 1,000 gold yet it makes no sense of course I have other hobbies and how come a 41.2 team (my team) struggle to even get 30 points against a 10.1 team it’s stupid and sometimes a team can be 20.8 but just have only gold people like how I hate how this game is a luck game and one time I got my team beat 30 to 20 by a 17 and remember I’m a 41.2 TEAM I should dominate against these teams. Last thing the robot can pick the correct defense play to counter your play even other reviews say this it makes no sense how the robot is “guessing “ correctly three times in a row even though I’m picking totally different plays..Version: 3.0.13

✓ Questionable things happeningThere was a weekend tournament where u decided to go for the top 10. I saw multiple times teams jump thousands of points in very short time frames, too short to actually be playing individual games on one device. I contacted customer service about the discrepancies but received no response. The game plays fine, so that's why I have it two stars, but I can no longer believe the game is fair. So if I play, I'll do it expecting to see questionable things, and I won't spend money on this game nor help fund Rival Stars by watching videos again..Version: 2.8
✓ Really fun gameMy small criticisms are that I wish the recruiting were more like the recruiting process in College Football Coach, another free iOS game, and I wish there were seasons structured like actual college football (e.g. 12 games, conference championships, bowls, playoff) with recruiting occurring in between seasons, and players cycling out of your team after a certain amount of time. Update: the game really loses playability the longer you play. Upgrades get rarer and rarer and the only way to consistently get better once you reach the highest division for tournaments is to pay money. I get that it's a free game, so they have to incentivize people to pay so that they can make money, but it's really stopped being very much fun..Version: 2.1.0

✓ I hope you like spending moneyThe game is very addicting. Even when a rival team is better than yours, you’re still able to inch your way to a victory. The “RPG” experience with the game is actually quite interesting doesn’t just stop at getting a good player and then turning around and dominating with him. But then you notice the real issue of the game. It’s really, really, REALLY, REALLY grindy if you’re not planning on spending money to succeed. It’s a great toilet + couch game when you’re bored. But for actual time investment? Unless you have $5 sitting around for every time you luckily land a 5-star player or the money to build a freak team, you can kiss being the best team goodbye. The story mode drags on and gets boring fast. The PvP is horrendous in later ranks cause you’re facing players who actually invest time/money into their dream team. And unless you’re logging into the game every 20 minutes to do all the challenges, refreshes, etc. You’ll never, and I seriously am not exaggerating this, NEVER have enough currency to build an amazing team of 4 to 5-star players with amazing perks and stats. ✓ Decent gameI do like this game, but I wish some things were different. Why aren’t there any penalties during the game? The “yards gained” are nowhere near accurate. How does a team receive a kickoff at the 1-yard line, gain 15 yards, and end up at the 25-yard line? Makes no sense. Plus, what’s with the clock??? How does a play that gains 5 yards take 30 or more seconds off the clock??? Why can’t we call timeouts to manage the clock? Also, I think it would be helpful to be able to see, before playing the game, if a team is more run oriented or more pass oriented. You can find that info out in the real world. Why not in this game? Also, why can’t we drop players? Why do we have to keep 15 running backs? I do enjoy the game, I just wish a few things were different..Version: 1.5.0
✓ Two StarsYes, Two Stars. You read the title. Two stars. The least common amount of stars used to rate something out of five. Two. Just two. Why? Because the gameplay is solid, fun game, so I didn’t wanna give it 1 star. But several times it has frozen and glitches out on me, to where I couldn’t press the play button. Literally was just in overtime on the final drive where I was gonna win, and one of the last plays it freezes and I have to refresh the app, meaning I lost, not to mention I lost the winning prize of 40 RSCF, which would’ve cleanly rounded me off at a clean 600 RSCF. ✓ Game playI very much enjoy this game. It has good roster building and strategies. I wish the recruiting of players wasn’t so weak. I understand you want people to buy but the recruiting can be a little more to the player and still get them to buy. The football plays can be a bit frustrating. ✓ My Own Thoughts 💁🏽♂️Start off by saying that the game itself asked for my views on their product. Well I can say that it is both visually stimulating and enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone who is either a fan of the sport or someone looking for a pretty good mobile coaching simulator. It is dull when outside of actual gameplay and I am not convinced the tournament is live action but that does not take away from the thrill of winning. I am still in the beginning stages but despite I can already tell that the best attributes will be locked unless you are willing to pay real cash for top recruits and features. ✓ DisappointingI was so excited finding this because in my first experience with Rival Stars games, which was the horse racing game it was mind boggling how beautifully crafted and how fun to play a phone game could be. With great tasks and storylines and killer graphics the horse racing game did everything right. This game…is quite the opposite (at least to me). I feel like it is lacking in both categories. So much so that im left wondering if it is actually made by the same people. Maybe im wrong and the Rival Stars isn’t the same, though I don’t think I am. As the game goes on and the teams get harder it’s difficult to improve your players and recruit as well. Not to mention the availability of plays. ✓ Money pitYou want a game where you don’t get to spend your money on anything else but this game? Well you’ve come to the right place. Once you start you get really excited. Recruiting? Check. Play calling? Check. Player advancement? Ding ding ding we have a winner, right? Wrong. You could effectively raise your player to max and he won’t be nearly capable of doing anything the next star up would do. Which really wouldn’t be so bad. Except for the fact that when you do pull a 5 star the game says “ooh good job, now pay me to keep him.” And yeah that’s like $5. Good luck getting me to pay $5 per position. If you don’t pay he drops down to a 2 star and is near useless especially since most of your PvP rival teams are all hardcore pay-to-win players with 4-star, and 5-star talent loading their rosters. Not to mention the fact that these spinners seem fair to begin with. But wait till you get about 4 games in. Then you look at how much of an advantage you have (near 60% red) yet 4/5 times they’re gonna make it whereas if it was slanted the other way around good luck EVER making that play. All in all this game did was raise my hopes for something decent, then toss me in the dirt, grind me under its heel then spit on me for good measure. Don’t let it do the same to you..Version: 2.9
