No free content on this appMakes you go through a lengthy quiz and sign up for an account before you can see anything on the platform, and once you get though you use it, you discover that all the content requires payment. There’s a free 7 day trial period, and then it auto renews a large fee. I thought there would be at least a few free things to use. It doesn’t make it clear before undertaking the quiz or handing over your email address that this app requires a paid subscription. Don’t bother downloading or doing the quiz unless you’re willing to pay for the content, otherwise it just wastes your time..Version: 3.14.55

Aura stole money off my credit cardI am now fighting to get my money back and my bank says i have to change all my credit card details to block this company from stealing more money. I did a seven day trial and found nearly all the mediations are the same with different people. I thought it was ok until then so didnt want to use it anymore, some of the recordings were starting to become brate with background noises putting the whole meditation off. I got an email confirming i am no longer able to access as my 7 day period is up then i got another confirmation from the co founder Daniel lee saying can i do video call to say why i dont want the app anymore and then when i pressed that it tried to sign me up on another free trial platform.. Tottally rigged Nd then money missing out of my account.. I am still waiting to even here from them let alone get my money they stole and pay back my bank for overdraft fees.Version: 1.3.38

Warning: canceling is extremely difficultThough the couple of items I listened to on Aura were good, I did not have time to use the app enough during my $2.99 trial of just a few days, so wasn’t willing to subscribe annually or even monthly until I have more time to use it. But wow do they not want you to stop the annual (pricey) renewal after the trial. I have never found it so hard to cancel a subscription as with this one. I couldn’t find a way via my Apple settings or App Store or within the app, so sent an email asking to cancel. Instead of cancelling, the reply just gave me instructions on where to find it within the app, as it is quite hidden under ‘contact us’ (remember I had already contacted them via email). You then have to click the right answer to avoid being asked over and over and over if you really want to cancel. Yes I do! Tip to the developers: don’t make it so hard and so frustrating to cancel that people never want to use this app again. I will use an alternative should I need one in the future - I almost felt like I was being scammed. Put it this way - if my mother was using this she would never have been able to work out how to cancel. But maybe that’s the point..Version: 3.14.8

Cost way to muchWhy does this cost so much? U could just make this app free and help people with stress, sleeping, sadness ect. But u would rather make people pay over 90$ to help them with a app that just talks to u..Version: 2.8.3

Doesn’t work for me and no easy contactUnfortunately, this app doesn’t work on my iPhone (Max Pro 12). The sessions/recordings and coaches seem excellent and I would truly like to have Aura. However, any session I tried cut out after 1 minute. And there is no easy way to contact the developer (there is a way but it’s not direct and you have to download the mail app as part of the process). So, good luck to anyone who can get it working as it really does have a lot of promise..Version: 3.12.4

Good app but no free option availableI really liked the app and meditations available. I wish I was able to explore more but without a free version, I am unable to pay to use the app which is unfortunate. Please consider adding a free option for which some of the meditations are included and then with the premium you could unlock the rest..Version: 3.18.57

Nothing to do without payingSo I downloaded this thinking it might help with my depression and stress, only to find that you have to pay before you can try anything out. Hardly relaxing!! Apparently with the completely free version when it asks you how you are feeling the only option you have to respond with is OK and you can’t try any of the meditations or mindfulness sessions out! Even the 7 day free trial is just to get you to sign up then if you are suffering bad linked to depression like me then you are bound to forget. Feels like they are trying to catch people out. Would be nice if they gave you the option to try it for free for 7 days without money automatically being deducted from you account after this. For the completely free option Very disappointing..Version: 3.1.11

Be careful during the free trialI downloaded the app to take advantage of the 7 day free trial. I cancelled the trial on the last day only to realise the next day that they’d charged me for a full year only an hour earlier that my cancellation went through. They don’t send any emails or other reminders or let you know when you use the app how many days you have left in the trial so be careful to cancel early if you don’t want to pay for a full year. After emailing them about the full year charge without notice, I was met with a “oh well, you must have disabled notifications in the app, too bad” response. I find it hard to search for decent meditations within the app and the ones I’ve tried are quite generic and underwhelming. There’s better options out there for meditation apps and they don’t resort to underhanded trickery to get money out of people..Version: 3.18.36

Problem with the appI have recently had my phone stolen , I had paid for a full years subscription a few days before , I now have a new phone when trying to reinstate my Aura App I have now been sighed up for another 7 day free trial which obviously I don’t want as I already have a year subscription I have tried emailing my reply is you are dealing with a high volume of requests I would appreciate someone getting back to me before another lot of money. Goes out of my account ..Version: 3.14.25

It’s disappointingNo contact information to cancel trial. I hope I don’t get charged. The calm app is abundantly more superior..Version: 3.17.46

Confused with pricingFree trial then as advertised, 59.99 per year (4.99 per/month)...attempt to start trial only to then see it’s now listed as 76.99 per year...click on “show all plans”, all that is listed is 11.99 per month or 399 for a lifetime program....??? Looks super interesting but that needs to be sorted :s.Version: 3.1.8

SCAMHad absolutely no intention of signing up for 12 months. Had $120 taken from my account. Have emailed the company, but had no response. I don’t want the 12 month contract, I want my money. Even if they charged me for one month, it would be liveable. But to have $120 taken from my account for something I don’t even want is disgusting. And to not even reply to my emails is worse. I would recommend this service like a hole in the head. I’m feeling very cheated right now. I was looking for something to help with my mindfulness, not something to completely infuriate me. I couldn’t be more dissatisfied..Version: 3.14.8

Disappointed:(I looked through the app and was really excited to use it, it seemed awesome and super helpful for sleep, but as it turns out- you pretty much HAVE to get the subscription. Was hopeful I had found a good quality app that you don’t have to pay for..Version: 3.14.21

Horrible refund procedure. Don’t expect a successful refundUsed the app during the trial period and decided to cancel it. Discovered later that I was charged for the full subscription after cancellation. Emailed and requested Aura for a full refund, but they advise me to check with my bank and with Apple store. The team does not take care of anything about your payment, doesn't make the initiative to help out in any way, just dumps the situation on you to fix it yourself with other services ( First with Bank, second with Apple ..etc ).Version: 3.10.29

Pretending to be freeYou can’t get anything for free unless you do a free trial that automatically charges you almost $60 after 7 days. I hate fishing apps like this. Don’t make it seem free and waste peoples time than..Version: 3.2.2

£60 a year.Don’t download as they are NOT upfront about costs at all. Wonder why?? So they ask what you’re interested in first before you can go into the app, no you can’t skip this, then you fill in loads of stuff once you’ve done that they tell you they are loading you’re personalised stuff. . Oh did you want to listen to it??????? £60 Er no I can get this elsewhere for free, bye. Yes I would have paid something but not to you because you weren’t up front. Bye. 0 stars No one asked you why you need to know the person’s interests, that’s obvious. But you still didn’t address that you are NOT upfront about costs first before all the other questions and why, did you!.Version: 3.13.29

Bring back Mood!!With the removal of the Mood component of the app in this new update, I unfortunately will no longer be using this app- as I’m sure many others will feel too. Why remove such an important and functional part of the app? This was a fantastic tool for self reflection and tracking your mood over time. How devastating it is to have invested over two years in this app to now lose all my diary entries from this time! 😣😔 I am so disappointed 😞.Version: 3.7.3

Not ImpressedI downloaded this because I was having trouble getting to sleep and I just wanted it for a week and it said I could have it free for a week well I can’t download any apps on my Apple ID now because I only wanted it for a week so I didn’t have to pay I got ten emails a week so I am certainly not aloud impressed.Version: 3.4.25

SCAM!!!It’s a scam I got charged when I was on trial time, and I remembered cancel the subscription before my trial end but it was still charging to my Apple account Didn’t realize that I was still on it until they charged for the auto renewal.Version: 3.0.12

A LOT of average meditationsThe app feels like you’re using a public site where anyone can upload their meditation guide, meaning there are literally thousands of meditations to choose from. When you’re anxious or stressed, the last thing you want to do is worry about finding the right meditation, and sifting through all the bad ones (which there are a lot of) Has potential, but I’m disappointed I wasted my money on this app...Version: 3.14.29

MoneyHow would it make you feel if you were suffering, someone finally came alone and said “I can help,” and you turned to them in trust, truly hoping that they could help you, and the first thing they say to you is the nature of the payment plan for their service? For me, it makes me feel like money is the primary focus, and not whether Im okay or not. If what you have is truly worth having, people will happily make sure your monetary needs a met to keep you around. ** The problem the way the subscription is set up is that people are turned off by the nature of free trial subscriptions. Namely because many companies factor in profit made from people failing to cancel in time. So when people see things like that they assume it’s all about profit. You’d be far better changing it from a subscription base to in app purchase and making the primary function of the app more accessible without subscriptions. I’m sure you’ve noticed many people delete the app as soon as they hit the subscription screen. **.Version: 3.11.22

AnnoyingI found this app really unsteady because of the time it takes for the next session, I wouldn’t recommend it because it asks for money. You can’t really get apps these days that don’t.Version: 2.9.6

Insight Timer is free - why pay for this?I am turned off by the instant requirement to commit to pay if I forget to cancel a trial membership, with no other option to experience the supposedly purpose-driven product before committing to a subscription. Your first priority is profit, and that’s a moral issue with you using your poor mother’s depression to make you look altruistic. Don’t claim you are in it to help people like your mother and first make them sign up to subscribe first. Offer some free content to people who may need it and not be able to sign up. Show the value you claim you want to bring the world upfront. I downloaded the app, which looks like a direct rip off from Insight Timer’s UX and they offer their content free with an interesting support model. I couldn’t try even one experiences before you made me sign up for a we-hope-you-forget-free-trial. Just left a sour taste in my mouth. I’ll stick to generously supporting the plenitude of truly altruistic brands. I was drawn in by the story of the brothers, and turned off by the experience of commit-before-you-try..Version: 3.18.14

Glitches and fixesGreat content, but the app has problems, poor programming. The constant refreshing is A BIG PROBLEM needing fixing: the app refreshes each time I go back into it from another app, or from the phone being locked. THIS IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING because I would like it to stay on the track. Sometimes I have to pause to do something else on the phone, other times I get a track ready before my commute so that I can start it easy while driving, but, poof!, it refreshes. This app acts like a social media app, which it shouldn't be. It distracts from it's purpose. Find a better term vs “Level up” or just remove it; makes it like a kids video game (wrong feel). Creepy“welcome to aura” clip that is on some tracks (it sounds cultish). Also, problem of not being able to get to the lowest playlist when the current selection banner is across the bottom..Version: 3.14.1

Unable to cancel subscriptionDo not sign up for this App . No support provided . Unable to cancel.Version: 3.17.43

‘Free’ Trial MessAs others below me have said, it is almost impossible to unsubscribe from the trial. I did so through Apple subscriptions immediately after signing up to ensure that I wouldn’t forget, found the app disappointing (more on that below), yet was charged for a full year. I emailed the company and was told I could only unsubscribe through Apple…and on and on. I still can’t tell if they are going to charge me again after 12 months. I’ve tried using the app a few times, but it is a messy combination of Insight Timer, which is mostly free and uncomplicated, and Calm, which is just generally a much nicer app. Those apps, as well as others I’ve used, like Smiling Mind and Headspace, are well organised, have a consistent style or clear purpose, and will suit different people based on personal preference. This seems to be trying to be everything, which kind of defeats the purpose of mindfulness in my opinion. If you are looking for something with a million options at once and find places like casinos meditative and chill, this could be for you. I found it overwhelming, with unclear categories, unnecessary graphics, and unwanted and sounds. The sounds are just as difficult and frustrating to turn off as the subscription. Not recommended..Version: 3.18.44

Disappointed about the priceOn the app it say it will be $59/year and when i subscribe my confirmation was $79/year! Sad they can’t updating they’re price properly or just specified if it was USD $. After the app is nice but i don’t want to pay $80 a year when i know i might not use it all the time..Version: 3.11.28

Don’t download thisVery difficult to understand subscription and how to stop any payments. It is a very expensive app. Be careful, as it doesn’t show up in your subscriptions and you can’t find any subscription period on your account. They do not manage the subscription within the App Store as all my other apps, are so you do not have the apple protection of the App Store with clear subscription listing and annual cost. Apple only shows the initial free download and no further costs so you are mislead into thinking there are no more costs. The app doesn’t show any renewal dates. Aura also upsells. Individuals are charged the more expensive $119 ‘family’ plan. For such a highly rated app all this is very surprising . Apple needs to monitor this behaviour within its App Store products. If you buy an App through the App Store the annual subscription should be shown..Version: 3.18.18

No Free Trial! After advertising that there is a 7 day free trial and a promised notification before your free trial ends, I was charged for a whole year immediately. For an app I sought out to help decrease stress and anxiety, this has just caused more stress as $85 was taken from my acct..Version: 3.17.42

TERRIBLEAWFULL! Wheeler you nées hop on ceirten Ways un’ess you pay a lot or monte you can only fêlé 9ne way and ne haltères un inédit way that dosent help on a lot or things.Version: 3.9.35

Some BS lol$70 (or $77) a year, funny. As someone who doesn’t have a job, I’m not getting the full version. I’ve also deleted it, because i can do very minimal things, almost nothing. 1 Star..Version: 3.2.1

Unable to useI have tried to start free a trial for over a week.. Every time I try the app says cannot connect to apple subscription service please try again later..Version: 3.11.6

AuraToo many stupid questions. I just wanted some relaxation sounds..Version: 3.18.14

Keeps crashingThe app looks lovely but I can’t get very far with it crashing every time I try set the 3 minute meditation part..Version: 2.8.8

Serious issues with BluetoothI appreciate that the app has some great sessions with a wide variety of content creators, but there are some connection issues that make the app difficult to use with airplay and bluetooth connections. I like to play a meditation before I go to bed, and I try to play on my Apple HomePod. But it rarely works on the first try. As I’m settling in for my meditation, the audio just goes blank, and I’m left trying to figure out why. I skip ahead and sometimes it comes back. I restart and sometimes it comes back, but it may go out again. This is far from an optimal user experience and they really should figure this out. Never happens with any other app, but always with this one. Totally ruins the user experience. Instead of relaxing, it’s more frustrating..Version: 3.17.46

Just looking for your moneyThey try to force you to buy their premium membership immediately. Before you even have a chance to see what it’s actually like. And then they lock all of the emotions because only people with money are allowed to have those, right? I’m just a broke university student who’s trying to find something that’ll help my anxiety during exam season, I can’t be worried about cancelling a trial that’s going to cost me more than $80 for a years subscription. This app is just looking for your money, they don’t care about anything else..Version: 3.0.15

Aura 1 star reviewHi, I downloaded Aura because I saw an advert on Instagram which caught my attention. Once I downloaded the app I realised that most of the app was premium, when it asked how I was feeling the only free option was “okay” I personally found this annoying and worth only 1 star because it didn’t help me overcome my problems like it said it would do because of how limited the app is to users who don’t pay premium. I believe that if this app would give more options to free users it would be amazing! I don’t mind the fact that there is premium I just mind the fact that it isn’t made for free users. Just an opinion :).Version: 3.9.21

Voice training neededThe voices need professional training to be able to relax. I tried numerous different coaches’ recordings and unfortunately they were all not conducive to helping me relax/sleep..Version: 3.18.52

Why should I have to pay to be happy?!I have been diagnosed with major depression, anxiety, and AD-HD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and when I was playing Wordscapes, I kept seeing ads for this app. I decided to download it and figured it could be helpful. The meditations themselves are helpful but you can only do one 3-minute session every 2 hours. And you’re limited to what emotion you’re feeling?! How ridiculous is that?! And it was even worse when I first downloaded the app. It asked me how I was feeling and I couldn’t answer truthfully because the only option was okay, and I was not okay. The only way to access many of the features on aura is by upgrading to premium which is ridiculously expensive. Why should I have to pay to feel okay. And after all, money doesn’t buy happiness so what’s the point?!?! But the thing is, it isn’t just this app, but pretty much every meditation app that makes you pay. And this app called breethe, it was free to download (like this one) but as soon as I went on, it immediately made me have to pay if I wanted to use it so I deleted it right away. So I’m requesting that this app makes some improvements so I can actually feel happy or calm or able to sleep. That would be very much appreciated!.Version: 3.4.11

Really, what’s the point?I can certainly appreciate that people are making free apps to help people with problems like stress, anxiety and depression, etc. But not this one. One of the first things you’re offered is the premium membership which already made me think “I know what this company is it for” but I still had hope. And then they locked actual emotions behind a paywall? The only emotion you’re able to choose without paying is feeling “okay”. Wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone, you might as well just go online to YouTube or other sources that are actually free and easily accessible..Version: 3.0.12

Pretty goodI find that aura is a really good app to use to calm yourself or to, I guess find the importance of some things, or to build self esteem and that sort of thing. The reason why I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 was because a lot of the podcast like things are locked, so you have to pay so for me that drags the app down. Apart from this I think it’s very good and I would recommend using it especially before going to bed.Version: 3.0.11

Don’t subscribe!Don’t subscribe it isn’t easy to cancel even though they offer you a free week trial. It says on the app that you can cancel anytime but I couldn’t. Then it also says if you don’t cancel your subscription you will be automatically charged..Version: 3.18.44

Misleading Scamming AppThey charge for whole year even if you sign up for trial, very misleading app..Version: 3.18.9

Waaaaaaay too expensive!!Another ‘well-being’ and ‘anti-stress’ app which requires parting with a hefty lump sum to be able to use it. At a time when more people than ever are suffering ill health and loss of finances, at least offer a reasonable monthly payment plan please. You say you charge $60 a year so that you can provide the app for free to people ‘in need’. No further details provided - enough said! Money grabbing, very disappointing attitude yet again from an app that is supposed to be a positive addition to people’s lives..Version: 3.11.41

Trial isn’t available if you sign up with Apple!!I just attempted to sign up for the trial period and Apple immediately took an annual payment from my account. I can’t cancel because they say once you are in the app you can’t get a refund. Well of course I was already in the app having answered all of its start up questions. If I do cancel now, I am still paying for the year. Not cool as this app is over £50 a year! I want to know if I like it before I pay up. Outrageous and I will be calling Apple on Monday morning..Version: 3.16.31

DO NOT GET A FREE TRIALDo mot get a free trial they woll charge you immediately. I decided to try out the free trial thinking that they would charge me and as soon as i signed up for the free trial they charged me 60$. this company is STEALING from you please be aware before 60$ goes down the drain. this entire situation caused me more anxiety than anything else. BE AWARE. i am also a college student dealing with a lot on my plate. i don’t have money to just waste like that, i’m literally selling all of my clothes online just to make money. this is disgusting and the company should honestly be ashamed of themselves. i also read the terms and agreements very well thinking that i would be able to try out the app before having to pay. it also says that u can just pay 5 dollars a month instead and somehow it wouldn’t let me choose it. this company is nothing but disgusting they’re targeting people with mental health issues and stealing their money which is just absolutely disgusting. i emailed them to get a refund but looking at these other reviews i won’t be getting one which is just great. please give me a refund if you see this..Version: 3.12.38

Extremely limited if you want free versionUpdate: developers contacted me extremely fast when I left this review and I do appreciate that they care enough to do that so I boosted this a star. There is a very limited option for “free” users but I still wish apps like this weren’t so aggressive with pushing you to subscribe immediately and set up a new account etc. It’s like, just let me see what your app is about first. I am sure this is a nice service for paying customers but with all the subscriptions out there, I’m scrutinizing choices and with this one it was hard to know much about the content from the stuff that was free. Old review: I saw reviews of this app and downloaded it. I assumed that like any app of this kind, it would offer some sort of free content. I’ve been trying and trying, and as far as I can see, I cannot access anything unless I subscribe to their premium. I understand that it’s a free trial but that’s the way they try to hook you in. I have no desire to give yet another company my email so I can receive a ton of marketing emails every single day before I even know if I want the service. So now they just lost me and I’m going to delete the app..Version: 3.18.7

Not impressedThe latest update sucks!! Sleep music can longer loop and play for longer duration. Not great for those that take longer to fall asleep. So disappointed..Version: 3.17.43

To expensive.Calm is a better app. An abundance of free meditation and such. You can pay, but there is a lot of free material. Aura is a cash grab..Version: 3.18.38

3 stars because it’s not free but from look I would give five. This is a first time I’m leaving a comment on any application. I liked it, the start is amazing, the questions, but then everything is locked. 7 days trial is great but what after that? It’s really sad that there is no good applications that are free to use who can help to those people who don’t have so much money to pay things like this... and usually those are the most who need help. I will try 7 days of trial but I’m already sad that I’m not gonna be able to use this wonderful application... all the best!.Version: 3.10.46

Used to loveThis app was great when i could use and listen to all the meditations without having to purchase a membership, now you can’t really do or listen to much without having to pay, disappointing..Version: 3.1.7

Great app but misleading subscriptionSuch a great app with a wide range of wellness features. Was so happy to find it. Very disappointed with the subscription options however. The free trial puts a hold of the yearly amount onto your account. Only when you cancel this they give you the option to pay monthly. After cancelling I then received an email with a hefty discount to persuade me to go premium. This isn’t fair for those who have signed up at the full price point. A fair set price for all would make more sense, which could be paid through the apple App Store and not with banking holds. I initially recommended to friends who have not signed up due to the subscription method..Version: 3.15.18

Could be a lot better1) there’s no way to ‘try out’ the sounds just by holding your finger over the sound. To try each one, you have to go into it, assign a timeframe and THEN hit play. & if you don’t like it you have to close out of the sound and start the process all over. - Small but this is not for the person who likes to mix it up. 2) I love the consistency of the sound of water falls, hard rain, etc. Only in those sound styles was there an annoying burst that would sound like a single pebble dropping on a hard plastic surface. It about drove me crazy. Favorite thing by far was the ‘calming approach’ of the app itself. Kudos on the graphics, color scheme, fonts etc. stinks bc I really wanted to use this app bc of that, but they def need to work on some UX (user experience) pain points..Version: 3.12.35

Cheapo version of CalmContent’s somewhat decent. The app is a bit limited though and doesn’t work correctly on my iPad (no landscape which is REALLY frustrating). There’s also no dark mode support. These are things that work on Calm, which is basically a much nicer app experience. I’m only using this because my company cheaped out and swapped our Calm sub to this. I guess Aura’s sales department go around undercutting Calm corporate users. 😞.Version: 3.11.64
