App replaced intrinsic passive coupons with reward pointsThey change and overhauled the app and it’s worse than if ever was. What I liked about it was simply the coupons and offers it always had. They weren’t consistent but I looked forward to a BOGO item for lunch or reduced cost item. They have done away with that. Now it’s a rewards program with the same offer. Before the change you intrinsically received passive offers but now you have to spend $50 to get a single BOGO and because of that I severely reduced my visits to Del Taco. What they replaced and changed for the app is worse off for you..Version: 3.5.0

Vibrant, poor functionThe app is emblematic of what so many companies do now that erodes customer confidence and loyalty. The rewards continue to be watered down, details are overlooked, and most importantly the navigation is poorly thought out. It’s difficult to customize orders. There are too many clicks needed to place an order. Prices are not prominently displayed on the menu items. The app denies breakfast orders when stores serve it all day. Is the goal of this app to score cool points among a certain demographic? Is it junior employees trying to impress senior management with a new color splash? If the goal is to generate increased sales revenue and customer loyalty this app is working against that. Del Taco would be wise to consider a rebuild of their app with a focus on improving the customer experience, if that’s important to them. 1 star for not putting their customers first..Version: 3.0

Needs improvementProbably the most glaring omission is nutritional data. The Taco Bell app actually calculates your whole meal as you go including the effect of substituting ingredients. If I say no beans extra cheese it subtracts and adds accordingly. Unfortunately the Del Taco app doesn’t even give you the standard recipe nutrition much less detailed control. Also, as with many fast food apps, the cashiers seem to have a hard time integrating mobile orders into their flow. There’s the now familiar long confused pause, iconic “can’t find your order”, having to be reminded at the window, and attempt to collect your prepaid order twice. Why is this so hard? Last, my chicken items had several gristly bites which isn’t a prep issue, it would be systemic to their supply chain so I feel it’s a valid critique of the experience. Overall Taco Bell is doing a much better job although it’s a mile farther from home, I’ll probably stick with them for now when I want US quality “Mexican” food..Version: 2.4

They killed the app.I just downloaded the latest update (v3.0), and I have lost all access to the app. It told me that as an existing account holder I needed to update my password in order to gain access to the app. I gave it the email address to send password update instructions to. It said it would send an email to with password reset instructions to that account if the email was registered. I waited for that email for an hour. No email. So I tried logging in with my existing creds. It gave me an invalid credentials error. I’ve been getting Del Taco emails at the account I had them send the password reset unfo to, so I know it’s registered. I even tried registering for a new account using the same email and I was denied because there’s already an account registered with that password. Yup! That would be me! Anyone else having this issue? If so, they just locked out all of their account holders at the risk of losing them all to a restaurant with an app that doesn’t leave them locked out..Version: 3.0

Offers Not AppliedThe offers are not properly applied when I try to order an item even when I followed the instructions with loading the offer and going to the “let’s pay” tab. I was still being charged full rate when I went to go click “checkout” (and I was actually charged the full rate before immediately canceling my order so I know for a fact that the offer wasn’t being applied). I live far enough away that I don’t want to have to go all the way to the store to apply the offer - I’d only go if I knew for a fact the offer would be properly applied..Version: 3.7.6

New Del Yeah Rewards AppThe app went from bad to worse which is not what an “upgrade” should be. The food customization is cumbersome and tedious now (too many clicks and not intuitively placed), drink size selection in combo meals no longer exists, breakfast cannot be ordered in the app outside of certain hours even though it is available at our location all day…why ask for a location & then not have location specific information available. Awful! All so they can have a rewards program which has far less (and inferior) rewards compared to the previous app. Shame on the restaurant & developers of the “upgraded” app..Version: 3.0

Poor serviceIt was pouring rain when I went to Del Taco this morning. Because it was pouring water into my car, on my leather seats and on me, I asked if I could order at the window. Your older female associate said ‘NO’. Your associate then asked me to repeat my order 3 times allowing yet more water in my car and myself! In my opinion, an exception should have been made. After ALWAYS receiving stellar service in past years, I was definitely surprised and dismayed. As a business owner myself, this individual should not be in customer service of any kind. She was rude and is not a good representation of your company 😕.Version: 3.5.3

Good to get rewards you can never useYou will gain a lot of “points” very quickly while using this app, but you can never use them, nor any of the deals advertised. Any time I attempt to use my rewards or a deal, the app says “The basket does not contain the required item for the reward” OR “you already have this item loaded”. So it’s great for ordering, but don’t expect to actually get any rewards from it. May as well go to McDonald’s, it’s still delicious garbage food but at least you get deals and rewards..Version: 3.7.6

Horrible app and servicePrevious app and rewards program was much better. No longer have coupons nor rewards I can use. If you have food allergies or are vegan there are no longer rewards or coupons that work. Staff in stores are frustrated and do not like the app. Scan codes don’t seem to scan so I have to read numbers to them to receive points, which only works part of the time. I sent a complaint to customer service along with several friends and we all receive canned replies. Del Taco appears to no longer care about their customers. After being a devoted Del Taco customer for 40+ years, it is time to move on to better programs and a company that cares and listens to their customers..Version: 3.2

Great food and great prices, but the app need some workThere isn’t much different about this compared to other restaurant mobile order apps, but there are a few things I’d like to tell the developers if they are reading this. First, I have my location turned on “always” and this app has access to it, but for some reason every restaurant I go to says that their system is waiting for my arrival and so it always takes them a while to start my order after I arrive. Secondly, I hate that I have to preselect deals and then choose them again at checkout. Why not just have every coupon available at checkout? It adds that much more time to the process. It may not sound like much, but when compared to a well built app like Chick fil a, it can get annoying..Version: 3.7.4

Worst app everThis is not an app it is an advertising gimmick. I tried deleting it and downloading it several times but it still doesn’t work. Here’s how the gimmick works. They send you an offer that requires you to go to their app to redeem and the app freezes with some crap about “you will be notified about offers.....” I stood in line the other day and order a tostada only to have the app freeze up. Told them them to forget the whole thing and walked out. I had a great tostada at Taco Bell. I suggest you do the same thing. I can’t believe I’m the only one. Good, not greatThe offer on the app said 2 free tacos if I create an account. Created the account and the offer vanished. Okay, no biggie. I do like being able to create my order and pay for it before driving there. That part is nice and worked just fine. I don’t have to stand at the counter and wait for someone to take my order. My harshest criticism is being able to use a gift card through the app. Oh, there is a place for it. Input the card number and PIN only to be told the card can only be used inside the store. Why? The app can process a bank card but not a gift card? The whole point in using the app is so I don’t have to deal with placing my order inside the store..Version: 3.5.2

Pointless appWhat’s the point of online ordering if you still have to sit in the same line for the same amount of time? This app actually COSTS you time. As I’m typing this, I’ve been sitting in a drive-thru for 30 minutes, with nine cars still to go. If I hadn’t taken the time to order before I left, I’d have been here 5-10 minutes earlier and been in front of 2-3 of these other cars. The rewards are meager and require you to spend way more to earn them that on comparable apps from similar chains..Version: 3.6.0

TRASH APPThis review has nothing to do with any sense of entitlement (as another reviewer suggested with regards to low ratings from others), but everything to do with FUNCTIONALITY AND USABILITY. I am tech savvy enough and know my way around using apps. I’ve been giving this app chance after chance. Just now-as I’m trying to place an order, all of my payment info has been wiped out. At checkout, I’ve entered my card # at least 4 (FOUR) times now and each time I go to save it or complete checkout, it glitches and I have to start completely over, since it doesn’t retain any information at all whatsoever. WHO WOULDN'T FEEL COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED FROM THIS EXPERIENCE?? I’m going to Taco Bell. Granted, their food isn’t as good and fresh, but at least THEIR APP WORKS!.Version: 3.7.0

Food Items MissingThere’s several food items that Del Taco still makes that are missing from the app ever since the last update. To name a few; Crunchtadas, the 3 Layer Queso Nachos and I’m sure there’s even more, but they stand out the most because they actually advertise them on the app itself. It’s pretty sad because there is convenience in making your order online. It’s easy to choose what you want and have a decent amount of customization at your fingertips. You even get to choose how you want to get it, whether it be delivery, drive-thru or pickup in the restaurant. That’s the reason that this review is 2 instead of 1 because it does have the potential to be a good app. It’s just that when you don’t have all the items there, it pretty much loses the whole purpose of why a fast food app is made; The ability to get the food you want at your own convenience. If some of your favorite food items aren’t there, then what’s the point?.Version: 3.5.0

Redesign FailThe app used to offer decent deals on a regular basis, now they are nearly non-existent. A deal then has to be “saved” first prior to using, then warned you will have a limited time to use it… but doesn’t tell you how much time… 5 mins?? An hour?? A day?? Of course once you commit to saving it, you can’t change your mind… who knows if it will expire before you can actually use it. My god, just let me tap on a deal and use it! Because of this poorly redesigned app, I rarely order from Del Taco anymore. And where is the “Free Coffee Every Day” offer as shown in the App Store photos?? I have never seen that. Ever. App has a glitchI’ve wasted over 30 minutes tonight trying to put my delivery order in and the app’s not submitting my order. So as of right now, they just lost over a $20 order. The app is automatically adding a 15% tip no matter what. It will not let me change the amount to go higher or lower. When I push check out, it tells me not to forget to put a tip and it will not submit my order. How much tip am I supposed to put in there in order for it to submit. I went to 25%, and it did not change the bottom total of the tip and still would not submit my order because it wanted me to add a tip. Wow. I wasted all this time, and now end up with no food. Also, the app lets you customize a few items, but not everything. It doesn’t let you customize the drinks at all. Some people like extra ice in their soda, and others, like me prefer light ice in my soda or iced coffee..Version: 3.7.6

I just want to order food!I bought this app to order Del Taco. It does that and works well. But my god man, it’s annoying. Stop pushing the rewards thing SO hard. Stop opting me in for sms messages. Stop sending promotional notifications, it makes your app so much worse. Notifications are helpful when you place an order. But it’s all or nothing. I’d like to opt out of promotions but stay opted in for order notifications because that is useful. I have to keep notifications turned off if I don’t want regular promotional pushes. SadPoor performance with the app. They advertised a special deal. So to the Del Taco I go. Tell the employees I’m using the coupon in the app on my phone. After a 20 minute wait in the drive through, I go to present the app to be scanned and the same employee says” Our scanner is broke” I asked if she could redeem the offer another way her response was “Well I didn’t break it.” And stared at me. So I left and I sent a message via the app to see if they could get the store a working scanner. I get a reply email days later ….and it was blank. Hopefully you guys can fix the tech problems and get Ms. Ididntbreakit a raise so she can afford some better meds..Version: 3.5.4

DEL TACO APP WAS RUINED.The Del Taco app used to be one of the best fast food apps that existed, now it’s WORTHLESS. There are hardly ANY offers, the “rewards” points take forever to accumulate and even when you get enough you basically get an item off dollar menu. From what I can gather (since it’s hard to understand and I still haven’t even earned a reward) if you spend $25 you get enough points for a $1 item. What a GREAT deal! Oh, and the icing on the cake is that it won’t ever save my payment method for my next order! Seriously, whoever developed this new app should be FIRED immediately and the old app should be reinstated. END OF STORY!.Version: 3.4

App is okay. UI is terribleThe rewards glitch so much. Select the free del tacos and it tells me items in cart don’t allow me to get the deal. It happens all the time for me, I can’t use any rewards, says the same thing every time even if I have the specific item added. It saves your favorite meal as the store as well. So I ordered and selected the store but then hit the favorite meal since it’s easier and it sent it to a store that I visited once. I tried calling the store to get a refund and no answers, so now I can’t get my money back and I have to pay again for the food I wanted originally. Terrible app to not offer a cancel order or refund thru the app.Version: 3.7.6

Change store open/close hoursI understand the inconvenience of the virus situation but I work overnights and been to three different store locations and they've all been closed early. If the stores are going to close early I understand and hope everyone is safe but I'd also expect the courtesy, like ALL OTHER stores are graciously and generously doing, and change the hours on your app and Google (I double checked before I ordered!) too to match the stores. I had to cancel two orders because the app said they were open and still allowed me to order! All other fast food chains I've been through have changed their hours..Version: 2.4

App not downloading...Every time I click on this app all it does is show the del taco logo and nothing happens. I got several promotional offers by email and could not accept them because of the application not fully functioning. I updated it and still nothing. This time around I just ended up deleting the whole thing and hope it works a this time. This is not an internet issues and I pay for the top tier internet at&t offers; all my thee applications work perfectly but this deal taco app is just sitting there; worthless! Needless to say I had to delete and then download again and the app is now working. So if you were experiencing the same thing I did then just delete the app and download it again. For the inconvenience it would be nice for del taco to give me a free meal though because I am a faithful customer. UN-USER friendly AND has many glitchesRight at the beginning it has me signup with email or Apple account or Facebook Great that’s fine then I select which location on the map and it just gets retarded from there it just makes me click on the maps and brings me to maps and doesn’t let me finish the account for the app it just keeps lingering on that page with the location how ridiculous technology has come . Everything we know reply’s on an automatic computer system that is glitched and just serves no purpose until a human fixes it . Probably never !.Version: 3.7.4

New app useless for drive-through patronsJust a note to people if you use the previous apps and prefer a drive-through you cannot redeem any of the offers if your location doesn’t specifically offer drive-through pick up. You have to order ahead on the app to use offers and deals now. The only thing you can do is collect points. I am a 20 year customer and I picked up on the app when they first came out with one. It saved a lot of money but lately due to a lot of quality and accuracy issues with my orders as it is, and my site not offering drive-through ordering for some weird reason but they will allow you to pick it up inside I’m deleting the app for the time being and visiting other places..Version: 3.0

Customizations don’t stickIt’s great to be able to order your food ahead of time, and the customization feature is great unless it doesn’t work which yours do not you’re using the same customize button to finish customizations it shouldn’t be the same. It should be finish or complete or finalize or something else and you need to talk to your coder to make sure that the customization sticks when you’re done and is listed under the item being customized. I was at the order processing page only to find out none of my fiesta pack customizations were installed. Please fix this..Version: 3.7.5

Need to be able to review bag & use ApplePayBy and large, I like the Del Taco app. Overall, I think it’s user friendly. However, recently I’ve lost the ability to review my bag before I finalize my order which is a pretty big hindrance for a food ordering app. I can see the number of items in my bag but that’s LITERALLY it before I checkout. What if I want to remove an item? What if I want to ensure I applied all my modifications? What if I’m not sure I actually included an item? Apparently, I can no longer do any of those things. I literally have to restart the app and start my order from scratch if I want to make changes, which is a really big hassle. I also can’t see my total prior to checking out, which, let’s be honest, is a big deal for a lot of Del Taco’s target demographic. And not having ApplePay? Well, that’s just annoying. Offers are deceitfulApp generally speaking works as advertised (have had some minor issues in the past,) but it’s still advertising free coffee before 11 am, when this is not the case. They used to have free coffee available in the offers section, but it hasn’t popped up there in a few months now. I have tried contacting support to see if there’s just a glitch with my account to no avail. Please fix this or stop advertising. At this point it’s just a bait and switch lie!.Version: 3.7.6

Mostly unsuccessful attemptsI find it odd when users look for validation of their own reviews and troll others who disagree. No one is “spoiled” for giving negative feedback as one user suggests. The app is not good. Development and fixes takes a long time, sometimes, and that’s understood. I have been successful using this app 3-4 times out of my many visits to del taco—and if those times, not totally successful because the deal didn’t load. User error or not it’s not a good app if customer has to jump through hoops or if it is just not user friendly. I hope DT fixes it. Today, my deal didn’t load…again. Developers always breaking apps…This used to be a good app. Sure, it wasn’t perfect, but it worked. Now it won’t let me pay. Every time I try to check out, I get, “ We are currently unable to take your order. Please check your payment information and try again.” I have tried multiple credit cards, I’ve signed out and logged back in, and I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it. Nothing has worked. I can’t use rewards, and I can’t take advantage of the anniversary deal. I don’t know where to go from here. Forget trying to contact anyone at Del Taco. There is no customer service to be found in the app or on their website. The link I found to actually file a report was an outdated and invalid link. Nothing. No support, and now time keeps ticking away on the Anniversary snack tacos that you can only order in the app. Don’t bother with this current version of the app, it obviously doesn’t work..Version: 3.7.6

Food is great. App UI is frustratingJust a horrible user interface for ordering. When you click to start an order it shoots you to your previous order history rather than to the menu. Once you are on the menu it is next to impossible to see what offers are available. You have to go all the way back to where you see your order history, and chose a location to order from all over again. Half the items back calorie information. Just a horrible user experience, which is sad because I do enjoy the food..Version: 2.8

Great food terrible appI am a large man who eats fast food frequently. So I know my fast food apps. And this is by far the worst app of all fast food restaurants. I had to cancel my account and start a new one just to remove the tamales from the promo so I can check out. Now I have the mini shakes added for Valentine’s Day and it’s not giving me the discount. Del taco is fantastic. The app is garbage. please fix this. Your loving fans want to buy your delicious food. if you select a promo, it should automatically put it in your cart. You shouldn’t have to select it again during checkout. But even then when you select it, it doesn’t apply the discount..Version: 3.7.4

New update ruined offers!I used to go to Del Taco every day but the new rewards are incredibly lacking. It was common to see buy one get one offers that you could actually choose from. Now you have to use one offer at a time it seems and save it for use instead of just using it whenever - Then you get another offer which may or may not be good. Can you please bring back the weekly offers to choose from if nothing else? I don’t want coffee - I want food. It takes a long time to build up points that are worth less than the old offers. I have been a much less frequent customer since this started. I used to recommend to friends the $2 off $5 deal when texted but now that seems broken too. The first time I tried to load an offer to my order it didn’t work, the second time it finally did. I lost all of the previous orders from before which was disappointing because I like to pick and choose and the app still lacks Apple Pay or a better way to pay than manually entering card. The redesign looks fine (dark mode would be nice) and things feel like they run a bit smoother but this isn’t what your customers want. I rarely write such a detailed review but I really enjoy the food, being a frequent customer and this has been extremely disappointing..Version: 3.1

Beyond OptionsApp is fine I just wish there was a way to substitute meat for Beyond meat with anything like you can at the store. For example, I love the deluxe chili cheddar fry, but can only sub Beyond meat on the queso one (and can’t remove the queso, which I don’t want). I’d rather just sub the chili for Beyond meat and get the meal I want. Or the Del Beef, I’d like that with Beyond meat. Idk- it makes sense to make that an option for anything with meat and just add the up charge. Y’all miss out on money and we don’t get the stuff we’d actually like if we are doing delivery- in store they have no problem. Just a thought..Version: 3.5.2

Delivery tracking terriblePlaced an order at 11:15 pm, with a scheduled delivery of 11:45. At midnight I called store and they explained they were very busy and no one had picked up the order yet. Starving, I asked the mgr if I could come pick it up myself. No problem, drove to store to find 15 cars in line. Bc the food was already paid for, I waited. And waited. And waited until an hour and a half later. I got home at 2 am to find my order had been delivered an hour prior. I was never once contacted about it being on the way or delivered. Just showed completed on the app, but when I called the store it still wasn’t picked up. Poor communication. Don’t know who to blame, del taco or door dash but I’ll never use either again. Couldn’t even get a refund, was told contact door dash. So I did. Door dash chat told me to contact del taco and ended the chat. Horrible customer service..Version: 2.5

Customer Support NON-EXISTENTThe support in this app is quite possibly the worst of any of the fast food companies. You guys could learn a lot from Burger King and Popeyes, because obviously their parent demands service to their customers. You guys are an unmitigated disaster. First of all, when you go to Support and it asks for a general problem, general means just that, general , the opposite of specific. Yet your drill down requires you to select a time and date that you visited the restaurant. GENERAL!! Not specific!! I'm missing 1200 points. Your app now shows that I only have one cancelled order, no completed ones. In 2 years. Ok. Good luck trying to get anyone to respond because you have to say what restaurant you went to. GENERAL. Not specific. Also when you go to login or create an account with Facebook error occurs that the app is not connected and that the developers are aware of this. I doubt the developers are aware of anything. It might be time to stop having your 12 year old children working on this app and hire a real developer..Version: 3.7.6

Steals your money and your timeI get a text about a free shake with a purchase for Mother’s Day. I only tend to go to Del Taco nowadays when they have specials or it’s Taco Tuesday/Thursday. I go in-store to find out that digital offers ONLY WORK ON APP or online orders so I can’t get the same deal in-store by scanning like the McDonald’s app does. Fine, I then attempt to make an online order even though I’m ALREADY INSIDE. I go to make my purchase and then “unexpected error” message comes up. Go to the workers and they can’t seem to get it to work. This isn’t the first time the app has crashed and failed, another trip I attempted to use another coupon but it wouldn’t load and I ended paying for 2 items rather than BOGO. Absolutely garbage app. Stole my money, but more importantly stole my time..Version: 3.5.2

I’m DisappointedI have tried ordering through the app and decided to pick up by drive thru because you know COVID and I’m lazy. I ordered 3 different times and every time was horrible! The firs time I waited 45 more from the time I placed my order to the time I actually got my order, because they couldn’t “find my order”. I don’t remember the reasoning for the second time but I had to just cancel my order and order at the Intercom when I got to the location. The third and last time I ordered a good 30 minutes before I actually picked it up. They said the order was canceled, but the money still was taken out of my account. It was only $7 but still. I am just annoyed. It’s easier to just go through the drive thru and order like we use to. No more of this useless app..Version: 2.7
