✓ BrilliantThis app is just amazing. I’ve only just started using it and it’s going to revolutionise my workflow. I’m an artist and know how to draw, however I was looking to reduce the amount of time I spend on getting proportions right and this takes care of that. I really don’t get why some people left negative reviews, especially seeing as the developer replies to everyone and seems genuinely helpful (there’s no pleasing some people I guess). It does take a little while for your brain to adjust to looking at the paper through the phone while drawing but you get used to it really quickly. ✓ Wonderful App!! ❤️This app is AMAZING!! I absolutely love it! Let me start out by saying I do NOT pay for apps...EVER! For me, it has to be exceptional for me to even want to. But after seeing it on FB I knew this was one I had to have. For me, the hardest part of any drawing is getting my dimensions and proportions right. Once I have that down, I can shade a picture in record time. But I can spend hours just trying to get proportions down. With this app I can sketch out the proportions in record time, leaving me plenty of time to shade the way I want...game changer! Not only that, I can free hand a picture and then use the Da Vinci Eye to check the proportions and see how accurate I am. ✓ Absolutely perfect, just one request🤔I absolutely LOVE this app it’s the perfect thing for any type of art from watercolour to comic to tattoo design, I was just wondering if remember there’s a spot that shows the products you used in the tutorials well it would be nice if you wrote down what there called so we can get exactly what we are being shown and not search up the wrong thing and get different products, also would like if the app would look into a persons profile see where they are and give them suggestions on where they would likely be able to get one of the products. Last thing is the ar choice I’d love if you could choose what it does already OR a different version that makes it use the EDGES of the paper instead of a piece because I find it a bit annoying to try and not move the peice and screw my painting up because they are really complex if I move it no matter how much I try I can’t re align the painting and the peice of card but if it locks onto the actual sheet then we’ll you know I cant wreck it other then that it’s absolutely perfect!.Version: 3.2.9

✓ Top notch customer serviceUpdate: Just had a problem with the app asking me to upgrade with no warning, having used it since December. Sam asked me to reinstall and everything was back to normal. So don’t freak out if you see that when you hit the +Draw button after the update. I was grandfathered in as others just might be. This has to be the best attention I’ve ever received as a customer in the AppStore. Sam is fast and knowledgeable. I’ve loved this app the more I’ve used it. I think I said previously that it won’t necessarily make someone an artist overnight but it sure speeds things up and honestly helps me ‘see’ things better. ✓ Customer ServiceRecently downloaded this app and I was having trouble getting started. I sent an email for help and Sam replied in a very short while. By my email he thought maybe the app wasn’t what I wanted and he would be glad to refund my money. He continued on with how the app worked and suggested I try it out. I’m so glad that I did try it out using his hints on how to get started because I found that it was indeed easy to use and fun for me. I’m not an artist so this app helps me to sketch something that looks real and a pleasure to complete with either acrylic paint or colored pencils. He sent another email with links to tutorials that helped me understand how to use the app. Like I said I’m not an artist my painting is for therapy. It’s a very calming and relaxing hobby. ✓ Fantastic conceptThis has helped me big time…it’s been 40+years since I’ve had a pencil in my hands. But life has changed for me after a few years in hospital and now doing lots of Physio so I am suffering with unstable hands and maybe a little vision but DeVinci App helps me big time with sketching the outline first and also with the little details that I miss…it takes a lots practice to get use of all the extras that DeVinci App offers. But having fun experimenting with all the different styles of drawings that I can experiment with, I’m still learning what’s going to suit my style, not sure if it’s going to be charcoal, pencils or watercolour painting or the watercolour pencils. Loving watercolour pencils I have been given half dozen different types and sizes of sketching pads from my granddaughters for Xmas but at unfortunately the highest quality paper is 120gsm…so using watercolours isn’t any good as the pages buckle but not a problem at this stage of my journey. ✓ 5 mins in….AMAZING!!! Not up myself as an artist…wouldn’t even describe myself as one, but I love to draw. Ink and fine line is my preference, but always looking to diversify and mix in other media. Been incorporating baby/children's faces into my stuff recently and despite studying fine art and taking many portrait classes(meh!), still cannot draw faces with any confidence and never pleased with outcome. I just downloaded this app, honestly 5 minutes ago, and within a minute was sketching little baby face size of 10 cent coin (on cartridge paper with a HB pencil cos was just trying) and it looks fantastic! The app is really easy to use, very intuitive. I’m excited to experiment more, especially with the other features of the app. Read some negativity on the web about this app saying it dumbing down drawing/sketching or questioning whether it makes people lose their own abilities. Laughable! This is a tool that encourages creative exploration for all (remember tracing paper?). ✓ Saved me a ton of time!!Soo... I initially didn’t want to pay for this and only wanted to trial it. But it was worth the buy in the end!! It is a little tricky to work out perfectly, and I thought I would only be able to use the classic manual setting, but I figured out how to get the AR to work !!! ( I’m not one to read instructions, I love figuring things out myself. Or maybe I’m just stubborn and ignorant, but I got there in the end 😁) If anyone is also having trouble with the AR- with me it was locking the picture on the anchor ( a joker card) and so the picture would follow the anchor everywhere I placed it, till I figured I needed to press the ‘move’ button and move the picture on the iPad down, where I needed it reflecting, and keep the anchor on top of the paper like it shows in the example. And then press ‘move’ again to lock it.😂 So simple and yet I didn’t get that for a while and wondered why my picture was on top of my joker 🙈 Now to buy myself a sturdy iPad stand!!! I figured I had another run of the mill tracing app that I’ve encountered numerous times. Boy was I wrong! This little app is powerful, packing a huge punch in functionality and user ability. It works surprisingly well and there is more you can use it for that just tracing. This app has helped me take my art to the next level by helping me practice and learn how to draw certain things. Patience and practice is essential to get the results you want. It removes the struggle to get accurate proportions through simple marking and allows you then to focus on drawing or painting your subject. Best of all, it removes that first step of getting over the intimidating ‘blank canvas’. After too long an absence, I’m getting my drawing arm back into practice and slowly getting results that satisfy me. Word of caution, don’t let it become a crutch. ✓ Great app. Needs streamlining.Huge time saver to get proportions right when drawing. I love it but I didn’t realize before downloading the app that there would be a lot of extra content. Being able to share your art is cool and all, but if they can make it so that the first thing that pops up is the “Draw Now” function, that’d be awesome. I do not need to wait to load “Today’s Inspiration,” “Featured Products,” etc. Just let me turn those off. Also infuriating is the app’s insistence to default to “Classic” drawing mode, whereas I rely on the AR drawing mode to draw on the go. It shows you AR mode first but before you can select that, it swipes the options to Classic. There’s also no simple way to swap the image you want overlaid in the camera. You have to exit back to the home menu every time. Also annoying..Version: 3.1.2

✓ Great - now that I know how to use it!Previously posted a review with 2 stars because I couldn’t figure out how to zoom out so I could see my whole page / marked off area. Developer reached out almost immediately and talked me through the functionality. And now I can honestly say this app is amazing. Makes it super easy for me to figure out layout and proportion in my sketchbook journal. Especially now I know how to see the whole page or a bigger part of the whole! There is probably a whole lot more I don’t know about but for right now I am really chuffed with classic mode. ✓ It’s OK.There are a couple misleading items in the advertising. It is not a projector. You don’t look through the iPhone or iPad. Those are misleading statements. What actually happens is the iPhone camera is turned on and that image is mixed with the image you want to draw. So you look at the two mixed images on the iPhone screen. You move your pencil on the paper to trace the image on your iPhone screen. Not exactly easy to do but perhaps easier with much practice. Bottom line. It’s OK..Version: 3.2.9

✓ Love itI first started using the app to try to faithfully replicate my favorite reference photos. But with daily use over the past couple of months, I’ve started using the app to make the shift from drawing “what I know the subject to be,” to observing and drawing the shapes, contours, and shadows in my reference photos, then watching the subjects emerge from those. Didn’t think I would care about the social feature, but I’m finding that I really enjoy it. I’d kind of like to see this expanded a little, if only to give artist the option of writing a line or two about the medium they used or something about their process. It might also be nice to be able to post comments, or DM other artists to ask questions…although I can imagine that going all kinds of sideways, so maybe not. ✓ A solid app once you get it set up with a nice anchor and a phone holderIt promised so much but in the end was awful to use. The AR drawing relies completely on having an ‘anchor’ (a colourful business card sized image that helps provide a reference for ‘projection’) but it failed to recognise multiple anchors in my case - even when using a playing card like the app itself suggests. I tried on iPhone 12 and iPad Pro and neither could recognise any of the anchors when held high enough to allow the whole A3 piece of paper in view. I thought I would love this app, but it’s complete failure to provide the key feature of AR image projection just left a sour taste in the mouth..Version: 3.1.2

✓ Great AppThis is a great tool to assist in drawing. I found it very easy to figure out and had an outline of a drawing done in about 15 minutes after instal. It does take a bit of getting used to as there is a very slight delay in what I’m drawing and what shows on my phone. It is also weird drawing visually from my phone instead of looking at the paper, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not a problem. The AR anchor took a bit of fiddling around with, particularly with the focus. Even after locking the focus, the image would still shake. This is the only reason I did not give it five stars but think it is a fantastic app. I used this to properly draw outlines without having to spend ages drawing from observation and trying to get proportions right. I actually had very low expectations of this app but took a risk and was very happy with it. Well worth a buy, I will be using this app a lot..Version: 3.1.2

✓ I love this app!I just drew the best picture ever of my dog... it actually looks like him! This app is great for giving a person confidence in getting started on a drawing. The drawings I’ve done if friends/family look like them, versus what I’ve tried on my own. I think it does help if you have a little experience with drawing and shading, but it’s not necessary (the best advice I received years ago was to only draw what you see, NOT what you know is there!). ✓ A problem.When I get to the middle of the picture the camera starts to focus on my hand then constantly zooms in and out, this messes up my guide lines and I can’t focus, I have to extend the pencil from my hand and my lines just become reckless. I hit the button and it takes me back to the app page I bought and just downloaded it from with no new update. I hit the open button on that page and it start the cycle all over again. ✓ It works.I am an artist and use all sort of techniques to copy images....tracing paper, callipers, freehand, pantograph. For £5 this is amazing because it does work v well. Esp the AR mode. My only gripe is that it won’t switch to landscape mode when used on an ipad, which is actually very annoying, because I can’t use the standard iPad stand (and this is why it only gets 4 stars). Obvs it’s been designed for an iPhone. So...please...allow me to switch to landscape. And in any case one has a lot more screen real estate on an iPad... but other than that..Version: 3.2.2
✓ Great appHonestly I didn’t know what to expect from this app and was unsure on committing to purchasing it before trying it out, however I gave it ago and I was so impressed by it. As someone who hasn’t been doing art for long, I found that this app has really helped me with accurately sketching out the positions of what I’m drawing for me to then do it in more detail. I think it’s a great app, some features aren’t compatible with my phone(iPhone 7) but the classic feature works just fine and gets the job done. I think even if you’re unsure on purchasing, it’s worth giving it ago. I do think the app could maybe have a short trial period or something like that before committing to the £4.99 however I think iseen as it’s not a subscription only a 1 time purchase it definitely is worth the money. ✓ Life ChangerSince I typically use photo reference, accuracy can be difficult by just eyeing a photo and the process of making a grid is tedious and can kill your motivation. ✓ Amazing. Be a Master Artist in no time.Hi gang When I first started using DVE I wasn’t very impressed but let me explain. I tried both modes but whenever I got the picture just perfect I went to zoom in for fine detail and the whole picture moved. Needless to say after trying numerous times I gave up. I decided to try again and found out my problem and this is with all the modes on the bottom ie : move, hide and opacity. These selection tools when red are active and they will move either your image or the camera/canvas. Make sure when you have your size all set and perfect to turn off the move selection. Leaving opacity on doesn’t affect the image movement at all. I love this tool and you can view some of my miniature drawings and painting in the Feed section of the DVE app. No I am not affiliated with this company or apple etc etc. I just love this program and want to share it with the world. ✓ Making of a true artistThis app has made my life much easier and had brought back the excitement of painting again. I don’t draw or sketch so when I wanted to paint (watercolor) I first had to trace the picture on tracing paper then transfer it onto watercolor paper. With the DVE I only need a glass and pencil to draw my picture directly on the paper. It’s easy to learn but if you have a question it’s answered right away. I was shocked how quickly he responded.
