Microsoft Pix for Negative User Reviews

Crashes after several quick photosVery clever but Pix crashes my iPhone 6S when I take several photos in quick succession. Waiting a few moments and then restarting the iPhone brings it back from the abyss..Version: 1.08

Photosynth feature gone.Useless! The only good thing about this app was the photosynth feature, which they've removed. Goodbye Pix, you are about to be deleted..Version: 2.2.1

Photo privacy??App wants access to photos/videos, but doesn’t tell you the most important thing: do the photos EVER leave my phone? It’s one thing for the app to access the pix to -process- them, but an entirely different thing to send them off the phone. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO BE CLEAR ON THIS??.Version: 2.6.2

Shutter soundI am looking for a camera app that make shutter sound silent and base on review this one will do but after i downloaded and use it shutter sound is still there even i put off. My phoneisnt capable of making my shutter sound silent due to made from Japan. Im disappointed.Version: 1.9

Health hazardCaused my iPhone to heat up like crazy and left a burn mark on my leg. Does take a good picture though, so maybe an ok app when paired with a selfie stick?.Version: 1.0.21

MehFunctional, but IOS does the burst best photo thing already and the UI of the native app is much smoother. In face this seems rather poorly designed for a MS product..Version: 1.0

Photosynth?I don't know how you Microsoft can bring yourselves to call the 360 Panorama mode, Photosynth. The original photosynth you guys killed off was art. This is a poor excuse. Let down. You ought to be ashamed. Fix it!😠.Version: 1.4

PHOTOSYNTH?Is this feature hiding? I loved this and it was so much better than PANO due to the quality of the stitched image. I have incredible travel pics because of this. Hence only a 3 star review..Version: 2.1

Who needs a flashWhat is the point of a camera app that cannot use the flash on the phone....Version: 1.0

OkayI’ve taken a few photos and honestly can’t really notice the difference between ones taken with Pix and the default camera app. If anything, the Pix photos seem a little blurrier and lower definition. Also, videos can’t be recorded at 60fps which is a little disappointing. One great feature though is that with Pix you can disable iOS’ loud and annoying shutter sound in the app’s settings. A feature the default app really should have without needing to silence the phone. Although it still makes the sound when using flash..Version: 1.9

Videos lack soundI’ve used this app for a couple of years, but for some reason videos lack sound. I can’t figure out what is causing the problem, the settings on my iphone are correct for the app. I don’t know if the app is malfunctioning or is just not good at recording video with sound. Rather a pain..Version: 1.11

UnreliableHad high hopes as I wanted a silent camera app as the sound is annoying on iPhone 6 but this app kept crashing and was slow Might be good for some but not my experience.Version: 1.11

Can't get photos off of phoneMy iPhone and my iMac don't want to talk. The computer won't recognize or there is a problem witht he file so photo won't export or can't import. Very frustrating and disappointing. Has been working but now has crapped itself.Version: 1.0.40

The most basic filtersThis has just some basic color/contrast options Just use the native camera app Microsoft is incompetent.Version: 2.6.2

User guide? This app would be a lot more useful if, in addition to bragging about what it *can* do, it told us *how* to do those things. As it is, it’s just an alternative camera app with the same capabilities as Apple’s camera app..Version: 2.6

Buggy and needs workSmoother photosynth capturing...except it doesn't work. I tried a 360 panorama and it created overlapping photos and my second attempt the rendered photosynth was upside down. Viewing photosynths was buggy and I could not zoom properly with the image only showing on 1/3 of the screen. Bring back manual photosynth capturing. Comic mode was cool. But cannot type two lines of text in speech bubbles (pressing enter causes the text to scroll off the text bubble). Document capturing is amazing. Really good adjustments are available. Please add OCR, PDF, OneDrive and email support. This version of the app modifies photos directly on the camera roll. So be careful you don't accidentally delete your original photos. I found it confusing to delete photos and there are too many confirmation prompts. Less taps would be better. I am using iPhone 6 with IOS 10.3.Version: 1.3.2

Scan doc to textNow I cant Scan to text.Version: 2.2

TerribleSluggish UI and slow app performance with minimal difference in the results as compared to the native iPhone camera app. I was hoping that this could replace the already perfect iPhone camera app because I wanted to try new things. Please fix the dodgy UI, make it smoother. Also, it makes my iPhone 6 runs really really hot. Slow photo taking performance + sluggish UI = no-go. Learn from this please.Version: 1.0

It’s ok but could be betterPhotos are ok but videos aren’t smooth and bit choppy. Disappointed coming from Microsoft..Version: 2.6.2

Removed featuresNo more pano or video stabilization. Bad move in my opinion. Are you trying to be like Google and remove feature from their apps that people used?.Version: 2.2.1

No Stitching feature anymoreYou took away the single feature that made this app great! Now, it is no better than the phones camera app. This app is no longer useful at all to me without the stitching feature. Sorry, but goodbye forever!.Version: 2.2

Pale imitation of photosynthSubject says it all. Photosynth it ain’t. Why???.Version: 2.4

Enable telephoto lens for videoI like that in picture mode telephoto lens is force enabled. Please enable it for video mode as well. And what’s up with lower resolution in video?.Version: 1.4

UnreliableFroze the second time I tried to use it (the first being to test it out) - missed the photo opportunity as a result. All the fancy under the hood technology is not much use when you can't even take a photo. At least the built in camera app always seems to work when needed..Version: 1.0

FlawedMS Pix was working fine until iOS update 14. Now the app may let me take one picture and sometimes saves it. But it won't let me take a second photo, the shutter button becomes inoperative after the first activation. Restarting the phone allows me to take another photo but it's obviously easier to use the Apple camera app instead. I've lost excellent photos due to failure to save and failure to take photos. Is MS going to update this app? If not they might as well delete it from the app store because its presence there as a defective app taints the brand..Version: 1.11

Scan Business Cards GoneI stumbled upon this app to convert business cards to Outlook contacts. It was great, but it appears to be gone..Version: 2.3.1

Unbelievable, and not in a good wayI thought this app was too cool to be a Microsoft product, but nope, they did away with its only cool feature, pano stitch. The one thing that made this app unique and useful. Meh..Version: 2.1

Hi-Res on iPhoneHope to see app Utilises 48MP resolution on iphone 14 pro.Version: 2.6.1

Ipad not iphone 😞Pleased with the apparent results on ipad air 2, although ipad can be unwieldy for taking pix in some circumstances. Claims to meld bursts to give one nice image that wouldn't otherwise be nice. The "compare" function seems to bear this out. Altho I'd have appreciated being able to keep "original shot" in some circumstances. But that gets auto ditched..i get the program to override me, IOW.. But app won't download on iphone 5c and i was hoping to use it on iphone also, particularly for out and about. To, you know, try it properly. Not fair. The cam and cpu on iphone 5c SHOULD be up to the task, or a reasonable compromise thereof...hoping for a fix..Version: 1.0

Removed features that distinguished itThe built in iOS camera app is better than this. The “styles” were a really neat way to make photos look like art, but those were removed. I find it ironic that Microsoft being notorious for bloated applications ended up removing the few features that set this app apart..Version: 2.2

Is this even the same app any more? The description of this app on the Microsoft web site claims a whole bunch of features that don’t seem to exist. This seems more like the kind of simple “my first App Store app” camera app someone new to iOS would come up with..Version: 2.1

New version stops background audio playback on openThe app doesn’t need to take control of audio output, please stop it doing so. It is frustrating listening to audio content and having it paused every time you open this app..Version: 2.0.1

Spelling mistakeYou misspelled business in your own description..Version: 2.5.1

PassThe “pano” feature struggles with arm movements any faster than a glacier sliding downhill while having a seizure trying to balance exposure. MS nailed it with Photosynth. Pix is a digital train wreck..Version: 2.5.1

Not working in 14.6Edit photos is not working in iOS 14.6. No response from edit icons like crop, brightness, etc..Version: 2.4

Taking features away without any notificationsDear developers, Not cool..Version: 2.1

Impressive but needs more refinementIt definitely a good app. But it lacks somethings that would make it my daily camera app.Version: 1.0

Way made it worseI loved this app until you updated and removed the panosynth feature, now it’s worthless, please bring pano feature back.Version: 2.3

What happened with photosynth panoramas?Microsoft is turning into Google by killing useful, popular apps, by far the best pano maker out there gone without even acknowledging how popular it was. this and then Solar Winds and Exchange Zero Day suggest that engineer/manager ratio maybe off?.Version: 2.1

Hyperlapse modeWell is to bad that the hyperlapse mode is gone I’m very disappointed about your app now I’m not impressed now.Version: 2.4

Multiple camera don’t workOn my iPhone 11 Pro Max, it freezes.Version: 2.6

A more limited version of the stock camera appThis is only v1.0 so Microsoft will obviously improve it with time but at the moment it is nothing more than a limited version of the stock camera app. The effects (i.e. the post production filters) are the same ones from the stock app so that's no improvement. The only other adjustments you can make are to crop images. There are no controls for exposure, contrast, colour saturation etc which would be useful as on a few occasions this app did get it wrong. Also I couldn't find a way of reverting to the original image and disregarding the auto enhancements when the app made it worse. It also lacks panorama, slow-mo, live filters, time-lapse, timers and flash so I don't think this will replace Apple's own camera app for a while..Version: 1.07

What happened to Photosynth mode? That was the best feature in this app, it made it superior to other camera apps, even iPhone's native one. The website still indicates it's presence, there's zero communication online about it's removal but it's totally gone from the latest version. I sincerely hope this is temporary..Version: 2.0.1

GarbageIt’s mind boggling a trillion dollar corporation publishes an absolutely terrible app..Version: 2.6.2

IPhone 6 very slow and laggyYes iPhone 6. Thanks dev guys ! It Must be Apple slowing down my cpu because of old battery right? Haha all other apps run fine like games etc just this one app, my fav app for taking photos. Please dev guys fix your app for me!!.Version: 1.3.2

This app is not good it's deceptive.I used the Microsoft Pix app to take two identical pictures of an object on a table with good lighting vs IPhone camera app. The Pix app deceptively makes the prior "compare" picture terrible but when you actually compare it to the iPhone camera app the iPhone app is much better in detail and colour with less noise. Don't be fooled MP just want your personal pictures..Version: 1.0.10

Terrible Business Card ScannerSo this used to be the best business card scanner from an iPhone. The latest updates have ruined it, I’d like to be able to go straight from the photo ice to creating a contact again please..Version: 2.6.2

Can’t get past terms of use popupThought I’ll download and try this app but can’t even get past the Accept button on the Terms of Use screen to see the functionality on my iPad pro 😞.Version: 2.3

ShockingWhat can I say … I’m currently in Mallorca on my hols.. I used this waste of space app to video my first time in Palma cathedral.. what a absolute waste of space on my phone .. It constantly brought up my voicemail notifications and unknowingly stopped recording.. so when I got back to the hotel I had literally 0:08 seconds of a video I thought I spent a good 10 minutes recording. I spent €9 to a place that I’d never been to and also travelled from the Uk just to see something so beautiful to end up with nothing .. ans it’s not just this .. I had to use excel at work as it was part of my job using a time register.. that worked when it felt liked it .. MICROSOFT YOUR A MULTIBILLION COMPANY .. sort it out .. memories are gone now.Version: 2.6.2

Impressive but still buggyPretty good app that automatically adjusts your photo for the best effects. I still reckon I could do a better job applying filters myself but of course the catch is the amount of time spent. However I feel the app is still quite buggy. It has crashed a few times while processing a photo but the biggest problem I've found is that it drains my battery at an alarming rate. I spent two separate five minute sessions with Pix taking 3 photos each time. My battery dropped from 81% to 71% the first time and 52% to 43% the second time. At this rate I'll only get about 55 minutes running it!.Version: 1.0

Photosynth needs to be like it was beforeI used to use the photosynth app before they stopped it, I really liked the concept behind it though and when I found out that it was added to the pix camera, my expectations were high as I really wanted to go back making the 3D panoramas. However, after trying out the photosynth feature it felt lackluster and didn't work as it used to. If it can be fixed or returned to the app store that would be brilliant. Unfortunately, my experience with the photosynth feature has hindered the use of the other things on the app. I hope something can be done..Version: 1.11

Where is the panorama function?Too bad we cant give a zero star rating. Removing the panorama feature makes the app pretty much not worth using. Too bad the developers wont address the issue..Version: 2.1

Ok, not great! The picture taken with this app lets the stronger colours bleed to the other parts of the photos and gives the overall picture a strong colour you do not want. The iPhone default camera is more natural and gives a better overall picture.Version: 1.0

Takes great photos but crashes my phoneI've managed to take a few photos with Pix and they look great, but the app makes my iPhone 6s think that the battery is flat and turns the phone off. Phone works fine when I don't run Pix so I know it's the app and it's a complete deal breaker, still gave it 2 stars as it does take very nice photos before crashing my phone..Version: 1.0

They killed the reason I got the app.The only reason I got the app was because you could turn off the camera click sound. Now you can't, so I'm looking for a new app..Version: 2.5.3

Has potentialTook some great pics, compared side by side with original, much better. But, slow to take shots, forget anything fast moving. Crashed continuously when trying to take several shots of a performer (way slower than native apple app) then when rebooting would ask to submit a crash report every time, slowing process even more. Drained battery drastically compared to native app (left with full battery and was at 10% within 2 hrs of socialising and snapping performer - far from continuously) Would say needs optimisation, greater editing (basics include filters / crop / rotate, but not fine tuning) if using on static posed subject in well lit conditions, then works great. Potential there for a native app beater with a bit of tweaking..Version: 1.0

Filtered artworkI miss the filters like “Honolulu” that would transform my regular photos into works of art. Is that feature available anywhere else? Is there anyway to bring that feature back in a future update? If so, then please do. Many thanks..Version: 2.4.1

Few major bugsOverall great app which takes incredible still photos, but the video mode doesn’t work at all on my phone. When I try to record, it just glitches between recording and not recording with the icons at the top spinning round. If the video recording feature gets fixed, then solid 5 stars..Version: 2.6.2

Keeps crashingJust updated to the latest version Keeps displaying "oops", cannot open app until you have given permission to us camera and camera roll. However when you click on "settings" button, it just goes back to start screen on iPhone. Checked through settings on ios and there isn't an option to give permission to use photos (there is one to give permission for camera) Cannot get app to load at all. Cannot even get to help/feedback.Version: 1.0.32

Buggy and not very goodOnce upon a time Microsoft had produced a very good app for producing panoramas and 360d images. Simple and intuitive, it worked and worked well. That was called Photosynth, Then somebody in Microsoft land decided it had to be improved and rolled all of that functionality together with other ‘functionality’ and a bunch of other’Stuff’ and produced something that doesn’t do anything particularly well at all. Don’t bother trying to do panaromas or 360’s, that doesn’t work. If you try and use the older Photosynth app, that’s still available but it’s been nobbled so you can’t use it..Version: 1.11

Good App!Overall a good, simple, clean camera interface. It’s free and from Microsoft. The only issue I have is OIS. The stabilization on pictures and videos isn’t very good. The quality is good but shaky hands beware!.Version: 2.2.1

Permissions problem makes it fairly unusableWorks ok, although it is pretty slow, but constantly forces iOS to seek permissions from the user via modal dialogs ("allow Microsoft Pix to modify this photo," "allow Microsoft Pix to delete this" etc). This makes using it tedious in the extreme. Photos are arguably better than the iPhone camera app..Version: 1.0.24

Very But!Tried it this afternoon and compared the image with the same I took with the stock camera app. Yes massive difference. This Microsoft one is definitely better. But, here comes the but. No flash. So there is no magic that will do it. Any picture taken at night isn't good at all. So Microsoft, yap, bring flash my dear..Version: 1.0

IPhone 11Looks like you haven’t updated the UI for a while as the settings icons are where the screen notch is and are partially hidden to the point they are difficult to see and to use.Version: 1.11

RPhotosynth is removed, sad.Version: 2.0.1

Usually very Good.... But... since upgrading iphone 6s to ios 10.0.2, after taking a photo, phone freezes, screen goes black/dead! Not even home key or touch facilities work. I have to plug phone into power, get white screen/black apple wait up to a min to return back to home screen. This is with 25% or more battery charge. Please can you fix? I want the good MP back..Version: 1.0.15

Downgrade.Serious downgrade from previous version. No longer has photosynth-like panorama. Other annoying bugs like doesn’t remember preferred screen ratio. Very annoyed update info doesn’t mention loss of features. I’m deleting it from my phone..Version: 2.0

Worst camera app I’ve ever usedThe only thing this is good at is blurring things. Portrait mode? Lay on the blurriness over everything. Horrible filter to “beautify” faces? Pour that blur on. Produces absolute garbage photos..Version: 2.6.1

They removed the Panorama featureWhy on earth did you remove the Panorama future. It was the best part of the app. I am now going to consider removing the app. I now need to find a new app to do this..Version: 2.2

What happened? What happened? Pix used to be able to make creative character changes. I had started an album of my own pictures that I used pix to make mosaic for children’s books. Now all of that is gone and I can’t finish my project. The changes to remove those artistic changes is a real loss. The new filters are bland and not creative. Now instead of using pix for my projects for years I will have to go somewhere else. Disappointed in your support if customers..Version: 2.6.2

Panoramic option has disappearedI used this app all the time for the panoramic feature... where has it gone?.Version: 2.0.1

Microsoft deleted PhotoSynth panorama feature of this app? Goodbye.Apple’s own Camera app has now far outstripped the capabilities of MS Pix, except for the Panorama function. PhotoSynth was a genuine advantage for Microsoft, and now they’ve deleted the function from Microsoft Pix. So, one star and delete the app..Version: 2.2.1

Decent app, but get rid of the hashtag on the framesThis app sometimes gives a better quality pic than the native app - but not always. Some of the frames are nice: but they ALL have a huge #MicrosoftPix hashtag watermark that can't be removed. Ridiculous..Version: 1.0.24

Doesn’t workIt don’t work. Please update.Version: 1.11

No Photosynth??The only reason i got this was hopping you still had photosynth :( that's the ONE thing you guys had going for you as far as picture apps!!!! so disappointed.Version: 2.3.1

Why no obvious option to save in OneDrive?Should really have onedrive integration. Why to save it in photo library then onedrive backs it up from there..Version: 1.10.1

Bring back PhotosynthI still have your original Photosynth app on my phone even though it’s not supported in hopes that you will eventually pick it up again. It was one of the best photo apps out there and always wowed people I showed because of the photo stitching giving an immersive photo experience. A precursor to Google street view I would say.Version: 2.5.1

No photosynth?Photosynth was the only reason to keep the app. Don’t know why Microsoft removed it’s only redeeming feature. Very disappointing..Version: 2.1

Great potential. But harmed by bugs and battery greed.Completely agree with the previous review by Jon Delano. At its best a real improvement on the built-in iPhone camera but too often (eg low light, no faces to pick out) no visible difference. And it crashes and it eats my battery. Get rid of the bugs, speed up the process, and add more editing options and Microsoft should have a hit on its hands..Version: 1.07

Update failApp doesn’t even open after latest update?.Version: 2.0.1

The app had big shoes to fill…Photosynth was the best panorama app I have ever used. When it was retired and the panorama feature was moved to pix, I was a little disappointed. Pix simply did not do as good a job. Pictures were blurrier and the interface wasn’t quite as good. Unfortunately, the panorama feature is either extremely well hidden or gone, so I’ll have to find another solution..Version: 2.3.1

No panorama - BYPASSGot this app as it was reported to have replaced photosynth. Once installed, found that this feature was removed! Not worth the free price or the headaches to install/uninstall. SKIP THIS APP.Version: 2.3.1

RuinedI was using an old version which was a bit unreliable occasionally so I thought I’d try updating. The updated version is a completely different app! I bet they fixed all the bugs by removing all the features! It can’t take photos anywhere near as good as the old version. Doesn’t even try to focus let alone enhance the photos. Video is completely broken and every video recorded starts with a frozen frame before going to a black screen and fading in. The flashlight for video turns off as soon as recording starts. Zero reason to use this app now..Version: 2.4.1

There's no......multicamera on iPhone SE 2020, why?.Version: 2.1
