Investor's Business Daily for Negative User Reviews

Poor webPresentationI disagree with many of the positive reviews here. I signed up for a premium subscription. I also agreed to a 2 week trial of the leaderboard. I downloaded the app and started reviewing the app. Right off an ad popped up. I was thinking by paying to use the site, no ads would appear. I could not cancel the ad without exiting the app and restarting. Also, the detail of stocks is limited. There are dozens of free apps that provided a whole lot more information on stocks than this app. The leader board I agreed to pay around $50 per month after the 2 week trial, provided a list of stocks IBD thinks will breakout or are buys. Guess what... the other apps I have been using listed the very same stocks without paying a subscription. When I did see a couple stocks recommended that I had not seen on any other list, I had to go to another app to read the summary of the stock, look for volume traded per day etc.... even the screener I found here isn’t as good as what my trading account provides for free. I’m disappointed. I thought one or two recommendations for trades here may pay for this program. But I wouldn’t feel comfortable making a trade recommended from here when they can’t even present a decent web page to research why they recommend a stock..Version: 7.4.1

OutdatedApp lacks a lot of functionality that is needed. Even the most basic, of getting the "big picture " which provides a rating on the market , you can't get the daily article in the app, instead you have to read "stock market today" and hunt for a link to the big picture that is sometimes there and sometimes not which links to website. Same with IBD stock of day , it's in the website but can't find it in app. The app is quirky , limited and it's pretty bad how it interacts with the website I love the IBD , great content and get the paper delivered , but the actual app is terrible.Version: 7.8.2

Great for options. Poor for functionalityThis app is great but I seem to be one a few people who are constantly asked to subscribe when using the app which I am subscribed too. This has even led me to suspect I have been charged more than I should of. The actual information and insight itself is great and I have already had some positive trades based purely on the listing system. These are options I would not of usually considered but through IBD I have been able to go outside my comfort zone with some confidence. Please fix the subscription reminder issue. Other than that it’s a good and valuable tool for those wishing to look for the next good investment..Version: 7.1.2

Opening website from push messagesI have subscription, but you constantly send me to your subscription offer website from your push messages. After I come back to the app, I’m not on the article that you promoted in push message but on the homepage..Version: 5.0

It is not designed for IpadIt is not designed for Ipad. Very small window. How could this pass the testflight.Version: 7.4.1

AnnoyingHaving to watch a commercial with every new page opened is annoying. I will just stick to the paper for now..Version: 2.2.3

Very hard to navigateThis is the worst app to have, Yahoo finance the free app is far better, paid subscription for nothing.Version: 7.6

Good but needs work. One of the frustrations I have with the app, besides for all the ads and glitches when scrolling through stories, is the inability of notifications to take me to the story in the app. Every time I get a notification on a story that perks my interest, the app opens up and simply takes me to the main page of the app. If, say, I had the app purposefully opened prior to clicking on the notification (knowing this issue) then it takes me to the story. Please fix this issue. Once you fix this, I have a couple of more you guys can work on..Version: 7.7.1

Add a Comment SectionGood (not Great) App. Lots of information available but with it comes shoddy Editors. So many mistakes and, worst of all, MATH errors make it into almost every article. They need to add a Comments section so we can correct their errors or ask for clarification. Also, add a Link to The Big Picture; as it is now, you have to find an article that mentions it in order to get to the full Big Picture! Also, they repeat the same article, over and over, all day long with supposed Updates tucked somewhere within the Article. Append the Updates to the original Article would be more convenient for your subscribers..Version: 7.5

No iPad Ver.! No Nav. Menus! Constant Ads!App is good, but not great! Don’t get me wrong, IBD’s content is second to non. But the presentation of that content leaves much to be desired. The much needed iPad version is no where to be found? Which is a real shame given the potential of displaying charts on a larger iPad display. There is a real lack of coherent menus that could used to navigate IBD’s numerous content sections. For example, there is no way to navigate or find “The Big Picture” link? One must read through different articles and basically stumble upon it? Finally, IBD app is only for paying customers so why is the user getting bombarded with constant advertisement? This alone makes for a very poor user experience, especially on small iPhone screens..Version: 7.1

Great app; some data missing latelyFirst off, fantastic app and stock data! But there really needs to be an iPad version for paid subscribers to the site. I know, the site (blog) would lose the “clicks” to attract advertisers. Which brings me to my second point….paid subscribers are paying for the service not ads. Some data has recently been missing. The number of IBD list a stock is on. This really helps and its been taken away?? William O’Neil mentioned this in one of the first editions of his book. If a stock is on a few of the IBD list the better the stock may be. An iPad version please!! And bring the list count back, Please!!!.Version: 7.8.3

GarbageRepeatedly locked out of my account. When I try and log back in I get an error message saying invalid email address..Version: 7.7.1

Ok but important features are too hard to findFor me, the big picture is an important feature of IBD and that is very hard to access from the app for some reason. The markets page has an arrow at the top but you can’t access the write up from that or the market pulse. If you want to find that information you have to go searching through pages of the newsfeed to find it. For me, I just bookmark a link and go to a web browser instead but it seems like a poor design feature of the app that it’s so hard to find..Version: 7.3.3

Latest update keeps app frozenCan't go to any tab.Version: 7.4.4

NotificationOpening a notification open up in safari browser instead app itself.Version: 7.2

Good but expensive to get all contentGood but expensive to get all content. I understand the need to make money for the service, but giving only partial access to articles is very annoying. Either give access or don’t.Version: 2.2.3

Expanded Chart needs ticker listI use an iOS iPad. The big flaw in the charting program is the lack of a ticker symbol list on the expanded horizontal chart. If you want to look at stocks you’re forced to constantly switch back-and-forth between the smaller portrait chart style chart and the expanded horizontal style chart. It’s time consuming and makes the charting function almost unusable. You waste a lot of time. It’s easy to fix. Place a ticker list in both places. It will be interesting to see how long it takes IBD to fix the problem..Version: 7.4.2

Watch lists don’t work properlyVery frustrating to use. The add to watchlist button has completely stopped working, and even when it did, it didn’t show you if the stock was already on a watchlist. Also, the articles are not sorted so it is very difficult to find the specific one you are looking for. I wish they could be sorted..Version: 7.5

Why no Touch ID or easy access to more areas of the site?I like this app but don’t understand why Touch ID isn’t available? The app logs me out automatically every few days and forces me to enter my email and password again. I care about security and like to use complex passwords managed by LastPass or Keychain. I can’t do that here so I had to dumb down my security just so I can access this app. Same goes for MarketSmith and SwingTrader. Almost every app supports Touch ID these days. Why can’t this one? I’d also like to have easier access to the various sections of the main site. Especially the section that describes current market conditions..Version: 2.1

Annoying ads, needs iPad redesignThough the basic content is good, the title says it all. Currently in the 2-month trial period, not convinced I’ll stay the course. Trial period too short, relative to time needed to formulate ideas, create a watch list, make purchases and then track performance to (hopefully) optimal conclusion. Lastly, the approach favours active trading over buy&hold or long term approaches. I wonder which is more tax-efficient in the long run..Version: 2.4

Screen tiltThe app does not adjust to the rotation of the screen.Version: 7.2

Another IBD app stuck in 2007. Where is the iPad version? It’s as if the folks at Investor’s Business Daily can’t be bothered updating their apps. This one, Swing Trader, Leaderboard etc are phone versions only. They would likely look great filling the screen of an iPad … if anyone at IBD would be bothered to do it. If they can’t stay up with the times for this … it makes one wonder how little time and effort they are spending on the rest. Until they do … I will not consider subscribing. Note: MarketSmith is the only app that does look good on an iPad). Also… - alerts when tapped on do not take you to the article that generated the alert. Instead it throw me into the most recent video … which typically has nothing to do with the article. - IBD bombards you with advertising in their products, website etc … often for products you may already have. I get trying to advertise your other products … but hitting existing customers up with promos for products the customer already subscribes to is just inconsiderate, clumsy and short sighted… not to mention it gives off an air of incompetence..Version: 7.4.4

Chart doesn’t show upChart is often stuck at retrieving data... very annoying.Version: 7.3

Disappointed in IBD digital cash grabI can’t use IBD digital on my phone app unless I pay additional $46 a month. Makes sense for IBD but not for me. I’ll be cancelling my subscription..Version: 7.4

Rude and unhelpfulAwful customer service. Not great when it’s a premium service. Had a very rude, unhelpful experience, happily take my money elsewhere.Version: 7.3.3

Tired of SPAM and Stories that do not linkI subscribe to digital IBD and MarketSmith. I’m really getting tired of all the push notifications that digital IBD sends me and there’s no way to turn those off. I don’t wanna hear about savings promotions for annual subscriptions and I don’t wanna hear about their new Options Trader App anymore. I just want actionable news and relevant information and nothing else. Second, why do they send push notifications of stories that then when tapped on don't link directly to the story? instead it goes to the homepage leaving you no clue where to read about the story..Version: 7.8.1

CarllouchI just started using the digital I use to get the print but I live way out in the country and sometimes the mail just doesn’t get here. I wish the had a tutorial, I zoomed the tutorial but the went over so much material I basically got lost. I gave it a 3 for not being like there print. And for newbie a forum where we can ask stupid question like what again are the red blue an black lines for I know they are moving averages but which ones are which.Version: 7.8

Aggravating, insulting and needs fixingSo on a Mac iPad, or iPhone when you activate the app you see the headline. “Stocks go up but trouble looms” You think you would like to know that story a little better. So you touch the screen and to that story you go. Then you are immediately redirected to a podcast with two talking heads but the podcast does not ply in landscape position, only upright. Not so fast, now you are redirected again to a SPYDRS commercial of 15 seconds after which the previous podcast resumes its horrendous banter. You can only shut the app down to eliminate the commercial and start the entire process again. For a service to force you to listen to worthless banter and commercials after you shelled out your hard earned dollars is just plain silly. The information, when you can get through the entire SPYDR schmeel then resize the podcast and stop it, takes about a minute but this is silly. I paid for a year to save a big percentage off the monthly price. I have chatted and communicated via e-mail and telephone with customer service individuals who had no idea how or why to fix this infernal cycle. Perhaps a noticeable decrease in subscriptions may catch some higher up’s attention, perhaps not. Be warned, for us Mac users this app is a hemorrhoid..Version: 7.6

Needs an total redesign for the iPadThis app is only for a phone. It would be opportune to redesign it for the iPad..Version: 2.2.2

It’s awkward in display of information on my iPadIt came up with very small display, never know when the orientation click will appear. Even after it appeared, I have to watch the video first before reading the text. Need more testing and tuning on the application. I will be more than happy to help testing the Beta versions to provide more feedback. Mostly I use safari to read the news instead of the application..Version: 7.6

Total crapFrom a person in the biz for 20 plus year this site is terrible. From signing up and knowing what your getting to navigating the site it’s 0/10. Can’t wait to cancel.Version: 5.0

Love IBD, but disappointed with appI read the book by Mr. O’Neil and I bought into the ideals. I immediately purchased the IBD and only had the newspaper version for my first few months. Then I decided to try the digital IBD because it may have things that I’m not getting in the paper. It seems to be exactly the opposite. The app is very poorly put together and has a cheap feel to it. As an investor, I want something that is going to give me every chance to succeed. I honestly think the generic app on my iPad called “Stocks” and the Yahoo! Finance app give me more than the IBD app. I don’t want it to be this way. I love IBD and that’s why I’m taking time to write this. I’m hoping that something can be done. A major restructuring of the entire app is needed in my opinion. I want it to have charts the way the newspaper has them and with the notes underneath. The current charts in the app look cheap and difficult to read. I want to see sharper charts showing the high, low, and the finishing mark. I want to see the app be easier to navigate and have more to it. After 5 minutes it seems I’ve seen everything the app has to offer. Thank you for reading. Brad (West Virginia).Version: 7.3.3

MY Stock list dropped to it bucket on IPad AirI added about 15 or 20 stocks to be my stock tracking list as a new potential client and I was working on this rather diligently for sometime across three different accounts that I manage at Vanguard only to find out that there was a problem with the memory of the app where it dropped every single thing that I added in there which took me 45 minutes to an hour to do. I was a little tweaked about that and would highly recommend anybody seriously consider using this iOS app to report it as I’m doing here. Very annoying and a very much of a waste of time.Version: 7.3.3

Would have been better to leave it aloneContent is excellent as always, but app is much more annoying to use than it was prior to most recent update. Constantly having to re-Sign In (even during an active session) and, more crucially, when trying to look at charts it frequently gives “loading” message, not just for one stock but most or all the ones I want to look at... sometimes never does load up. This is more conspicuous during what I assume to be high traffic hours: that is, soon after open or before close and on highly volatile days. This decreases its usefulness substantially since of course those are the times when I really want to look at the charts too. Looking through recent reviews I can see I’m not the only one experiencing this..Version: 7.2

ChanceInformative, really great for making informed decision….Version: 7.7

DisappointedI've been a subscriber to IBD paper, and daily graph products since mid 80's, over 35 years. I have gone along with the digital format the past few years, because you no longer offer daily delivery. I have been frustrated and disappointed with the digital version since it's inception. It is combersome to navigate. The most annoying thing, however, is the constant, distracting pop-ups to sell you something, that cannot be shut off. IBD used to be a stimulating, useful tool. Althoigh I read the weekly paper version, I find the digital version too frustrating to deal with. I now get my market info elsewhere..Version: 2.4

Can’t log inMy login credentials works on the website but can’t log into the app.Version: 7.3.3

Not sure yet just trying to decide if it any goodA free month with no strings would help tremendously in the decision making process. No credit card info just free for a month. Chaikin did that and I found that they were invaluable so I purchased a year long subscription with renewal for 5 yrs. you have got to let people try it. If your confidence in your product is that you are one of the best then why not prove it like Chaikin did. Not saying Chaikin is the best but they were confident enough to let me and everyone decide for free. They are 3 times the price but confidence in your own product goes a long way. If you would like to discuss further please contact me..Version: 7.4

Need an iPad versionI’ve been a subscriber to IBD for years. It is always been informative and up to date with information. I improperly charged my iPhone last night picked up my iPad installed the IBD app, and was totally disappointed that it doesn’t function properly on a tablet. The size is too small, and the expanded version locks up if the image doesn’t line up exactly in the frame. And of course because it’s not made for the iPad the image doesn’t rotate another frustration..Version: 7.4.4

Look but don’t leap. Probably okay for a Bull Market. You can make money by shorting the IBD “Strong Buys”. This is not a “go to” one stop source for financial information, especially the recommended picks. It has no grasp of political risk and ignores it. I do like the aggregate data presentation. This app is a source of what the herd is thinking or doing but mostly anything recommended should be viewed as a warning to stay away, a pump and dump. As such, it can be used as negative indicator that signals companies that should be scrutinized, not bought. The highest rated stocks are usually in “Pink sheets “! and are obscure, highly speculative and therefore should be avoided by the serious investor..Version: 7.8

How not to create an appThere is no doubt about the value of IBD as a publication, however, the app designers would have never made it to the IBD 1000 list. When opening the APP, it displays in a vertical format, no rotation. When you open it on an i-pad attached to a keyboard sleeve, it gets really awkward. When reviewing the IBD 50, again, same problem, but wait, when you go into the stock detail, the charts flip to horizontal. You can always recognize IBD users for their handiness in turning their device. Guess when you are a serious investor, you are a nerd, so embrace it. In addition, the app is unstable and does not respond regularly. Very frustrating when attempting a stock review using IBD. It also continues to ask for subscribing, only to then acknowledge ‘oh wait you have a subscription’. Last but not least, it’s the reverse ‘Hotel California’: “you can check out anytime you like, but can’t check back in”. (clearly latest hit by the sparrows)..Version: 7.0.1
