These games are quite simply the best puzzle games I’ve ever played. The story is intriguing and bizarre and mysterious, the puzzles are just the right amount of challenging, the design and art are astounding and often slightly grotesque, which is always fun. Most of the games are free too, but the paid ones are totally worth the cost, 100 percent. I will continue to buy these games for as long as they keep putting them out. ✓ Hmmm....Nobody can say this isn’t great value for money, that’s for sure. The touble I have with it is that a lot of the difficult puzzles are confusing in the wrong way. It’s not so much the puzzle-solving processes themselves. They have their own internal logic for the most part, even if the results are gruesomely unexpected. It’s where to start a lot of them that’s the problem. You’ll often be in a scene with little or no relevant equipment thinking ‘well, what do I do now?’, and it turns out that the way you get the ball rolling is to do something you wouldn’t have thought of if you stared at the screen for a week, because the cues just aren’t there. It’s annoying using walkthroughs that make you think ‘how on earth was I supposed to guess I should do THAT?’ before you’ve even found out what the meat of the puzzle actually is. Sometimes I'd leave the app and when I come back, a level that I completed might be found incomplete. Also, the small levels lacked content. The last part (spoilers!) was great because you jump back and forth between levels, I wish there was more of that throughout the game. This was charming, dark, and definitely added some interesting bits to the Rusty Lake lore. It was creepy but not scary, and the puzzles were interesting. I am afraid if I reset that the entire game will start over? I tried to contact support but they told me to check the walk through. If I can un-stick this problem I’ll bump my rating up to 5 stars because otherwise this truly is one of the best games around. Just wish I could complete it! Edit: Rusty Lakes support person told me that if you choose to reset from within a level it gives you the option to reset just that level or the entire game. So... problem solved! The format of this one is slightly different to the others, but it still works. I also got stuck on the Ouija board, but that was down to the font that was used all the surname and I think the surname should be made a little bit easier to read as it wasted many hours of my time. There is a creepy element to be sure, some dark humor and cartoonish violence, but it suits the overarching storyline. What the overall story IS I've no idea, I'm still trying to piece it all together, but it is a large part of the fun (an "Easter egg" gives an interesting clue, btw). A definite Twin Peaks vibe (even a couple of references in the earlier games) is there, which is nice. The puzzles are generally well balanced, and this is definitely their longest game so far - with replay value, even. I loved the "alchemy" game at the very end.
