Useless app crashes on start upJust loaded app to both my iPhone and iPad as a result of email received from global . On both machines it asks me to confirm to accept cookies. I click on accept and the app crashes. Try to start app again and it just crashes. I am using latest version of iOS which I upgraded to earlier today Update 13/11 App now works will wait to see how reliable it is.Version: 116.1

Needs regular updatesI’m in Canada and the app constantly crashes, very frustrating. Great if it didn’t crash all the time. I’ve even been to Apple to get my phone checked, nothing wrong with it so must be the app..Version: 116.1

They want your email address. To listen to radio.You now have to create an account to use the app. It’s commercial radio funded by adverts and if you want to listen to it on an old-fashioned radio you don’t need to go through these hoops and there’s no reason whatsoever to warrant them having your email address, and it’s one more wretched password to remember or record somewhere. There are other apps where you can listen to these radio stations, so I recommend that you use them instead..Version: 80

Almost enough to put me off my favourite podcast!Horrendously clunky app to use, cannot easily search for specific content and trawling through all ‘recommendations’ is too time consuming - especially when video episodes of a podcast I know exist don’t show anywhere. Luckily the content I was interested in is also available on Apple Podcasts so I shall continue to listen there. Constant bugs, very irritatingI just find the whole app quite buggy, full of niggles. It’ll randomly decide it isn’t going to load at all for no reason, internet and all other apps are fine but Global will just refuse to load anything. When listening to podcasts I find it very often just replays the last 10-20 seconds of what I’ve just heard again without any input from me, I didn’t have this issue on the Radio X app but on Global it’s a daily occurrence and it’s not a big issue in itself but when it’s constant it’s does begin to wear at you, it’s beginning to sour the Podcast experience! Of course I will continue to use it as Global are great but please fix the app! :).Version: 112.0

Keeps asking me to sign inI’ve downloaded this app many times, because I like listening to programs in catch up. However, at one point the app refuses you access unless you give them more info about yourself, where you live and asks you to create a log in. The quickest way I’ve found round this is to delete the app and start again. If I get locked out entirely I’ll stop using the app..Version: 102.0

It just doesn’t workUpdate: after endless exchanges with tech support… the app still doesn’t work. The most annoying bug is when I’m listening to a show on catch up and somebody rings me… when I hang up the show has gone back to the start. Sooo frustrating Since this app got upgraded from simple player to pause live radio, rewind or catch up it simply doesn’t work. I stop it, then press play again and it has gone back to the start of the show. Or has skipped ahead and the previous content isnt available any longer. If I rewind because I do want to listen to a show from the start, then the commercial break comes and I tried to skip forward it starts buffering then goes to live radio. Good but needs improvementA few issues for me on the app. The big one for me is that whenever you stop listening to a downloaded catch up show on your library it doesn’t save how far in to the show you got. This has only happened since recent updates and never happened before. Also as some others have said there needs to be an option to not have the radio auto start when you open the app..Version: 105.0

UnstableI have to concur with many of the recent reviews. The LBC app was much more stable. This one keeps stopping and buffering endlessly. If you try to rewind a programme it won’t play consistently. The feed will jump back randomly and sometimes back to the start. I’ve been in the middle of A programme and the jump back sounded seamless at the time but then you realise you’ve heard all that you’re listening to before. It’s not fit for purpose. In the time it’s taken me to write this review the LBC feed stopped and is still buffering!!! HOPELESS.Version: 104.0

Terrible app for videoI downloaded this app for the exclusive We Can Be Weirdos videos but it’s near impossible to find them. They’re not listed together with the podcast episodes. There is no search function in the video section. I think recent videos haven’t even been able to be added. Pointless app if a person can’t easily access the content they downloaded the app for. I can listen to the pod in other places..Version: 116.1

A good start-says “unable to connect” when trying to play back downloaded audio -won’t subscribe -turns off “download over mobile data” option without prompt -does not always automatically download -continuously need to subscribe and unsubscribe to get downloads to appear.Version: 5

Where’s the video?This app, much recommend by LBC podcasts and radio shows, makes much of the ability to watch the show. I’m thinking particularly of The News Agents: ‘You can watch our episodes in full’. Yet there is no link built into the platform. The have to copy paste the link into a browser leaving the very app that vaunts the ability to watch the episodes. It’s a bit pathetic isn’t it?.Version: 108.0

Features don’t always workGreat idea and the features are great when they work. I have been using the heart app for some time but switched to global app and it’s frustrating when the features don’t work. Playback, catch up etc often gives error message saying feature not currently available..Version: 109.0

Bye Bye GlobalWithout warning, my podcasts started rolling on to the next episode. Nightmare! I’m left with lists of apparently half-heard episodes and don’t know if I’ve listened to them or not. I called Global ages ago (there’s no online support) and was told my feedback will be passed on. Nothing’s changed. Such a shame. Now they've given us a messy front page we don't need and still can't stop the roll-on process. And they're stopping us listening to some of their Global programmes on other podcast apps. Not good enough. I recommend you choose another app where you have a choice in the matter..Version: 108.1

App not accessible with VoiceOverI really don’t like having to give it 1 star but I have to because it is almost completely inaccessible with VoiceOver. There are lots of unlabelled buttons and it is impossible to switch between stations and know which station I have switched to. I have many of the Global apps installed and as a result I can only listen to the main stations through their individual apps and not brand extension stations such as Heart 80s and Smooth Country. I am currently having to use Radioplayer to listen to most Global stations but I would like to of course be able to listen to them using Global Player. Other major radio companies such as Bauer Media and Nation Broadcasting have completely accessible apps for their stations so it’s disappointing that you don’t put accessibility at the forefront of app development. Years ago your apps were completely accessible but since the inception of Global Player and the major change to your app lay-out, design and functionality, the acccessibility of your apps has been disappointing..Version: 67

Great, but annoying niggles!I’ve tried to report this in the app, where you can email support, but there is no send button to actually send the message. The issue I have is podcasts keep reappearing in the ‘continue listening’ menu after they’ve been listened to. Why? I play them to the end then they reappear again with 3-4 minutes remaining. I’ve tried signing out of the ap and back in, no good. Tried signing in with a new account same problem. I’ve tried deleting my account which really confused the app. I’m completely stuck with what to do next!.Version: 121.0

Was great, but recently a bad bug is causing problemsUsed this app for ages, no issues, but over the past couple months, when listening to catchup, the app will randomly slow down even in the background, and often just crash out of nowhere. Can’t open it.I downloaded and installed app to my 5th gen iPad but it won’t open. The initial screen has a message about permissions at the bottom. It’s obviously asking me to allow the app certain access. However, the text runs on below the screen display and I can’t resize or re-orient the screen to read it or to click on any button which may be there. I’ve had issues with apps in the past but at least I was able to open them first. Uninstalled after 15 minutes trying to resolve the issue..Version: 109.0

Catch-up not working AGAIN - this app is a jokeThis is the second time in a week that NOTHING is available on catch up ... yet again every show on both LBC and Cap Xtra just says “Failed. Download not available” ... I just updated to the latest version (only 4 days old) in the hope that that would sort it but, nope, still the same problem. When I reported this last week I just got a patronising response about being “talked through” using the app - jeez, give me a break, how arrogant can you be? Podcasts and CarPlayDespite Global pushing most of their podcast content to this exclusive platform, the App is infuriating to use: each time you find the podcast you want, the App freezes and doesn’t allow you to scroll and select the episode you want to listen to. Integration with CarPlay is poor too: you cannot search or scroll for other podcast episodes. All you can do is select Global radio stations to stream via the app - in a car. Really?.Version: 107.0

Not Available on Amazon Echo Devices CanadaWorks fine in iOS devices, but unfortunately, this app is not available in Canada to work with Amazon Echo/Alexa devices. I’ve spoken to Amazon and they’re looking into it, but it seems there is no contact info for Global Player to notify them..Version: 58

CarPlayThe station list cut off in CarPlay about 80% of the time so you are unable to see all the station on the CarPlay screen. I have experienced this on three different model vehicles and two different model iPhones so is definitely related to the app it’s self. I end up having to unlock my phone and selecting the station on the phone screen which kinda defeats the purpose of CarPlay..Version: 99

Problems with the playback featureI often have problems with the playback feature. Often it takes a long time to begin playing. Other times it doesn’t play at all. Sometimes it works fine. Does Lewis Capaldi own shares in this app?I really like the idea of the personalised player feature where you can up or down vote your favourite tunes, but Lewis Capaldi must have shares in this app because even though I have given everyone of his songs 5 thumbs down, he still keeps showing up on my playlist everyday. Please give us the ability to just remove an artist from ever showing up in our playlists, even Lewis!.Version: 118.0

Radio app with ill thought out podcast section.While Global have a number of great podcasts on its books the app you get to browse and listen to them needs work. Simple things like the ability to search within a podcast is missing, so you find the pod you’re looking for but there’s one episode you have to listen to, but wait! There’s 200 episodes, I’ll need to do a search, errr no, you’ll have to scroll down and look for it manually. I’d like my library to be that, the selection of pods I decided to download but no you can’t have that, you get the full show and a symbol at the side telling you if you’ve downloaded it or not, again not great if you’ve got a pod with loads of episodes. Essentially this is a radio app with a podcast section added to it with little thought for the user. It is a shame because Global are developing a great range of podcasts, it’s just a shame it makes it difficult for the user to navigate them. I often find myself slipping back to the Apple podcast app for this reason..Version: 113.1

Could do a lot betterLive radio with the ability to pause, rewind etc is, on the whole, a real benefit and it is relatively sassy to switch stations. Podcasts, on the other hand, are really difficult. Downloading/buffering takes forever, the app is difficult to navigate ‘my list’ of podcasts or what I’ve downloaded to listen to later. When returning to catch up on a cast which has been paused the app forgets where you were or, even, what was being listened to. Overall there are some major improvements to make this a better rounded radio app. Must do better!.Version: 111.0

Apple Watch support?Great app but could we get support to play the podcasts on Apple Watch? Now podcasts are only available on global player I can no longer listen on my runs :-(.Version: 100.3

Where is the ‘Settings’ button?I didn’t want to write a review before contacting the developers first and letting them know the issues I’m having with the app. Unfortunately, tapping the ‘developers website’ button in the App Store takes you to the Global Player app. On the app I cannot find any ‘Settings’ or ‘Contact Us’ button. Therefore, I have to write a review to get in touch with them. I’ve downloaded the app a few minutes ago but had to give it 2 stars because the app has no ‘Settings’ or ‘Contact Us’ button, as far as I can see. The reason this is so frustrating is because I cannot change the podcasts to ‘Listen to earliest first’ as you can on the iPhone Podcasts app. I only downloaded this app to listen to ‘Hunting Ghislaine: The Trial.’ I was looking forward to listening to all of the series and finding out at the end if she is guilty or not. I press play and the host reveals straight away the verdict because it starts with the last podcast of the series! FFS! Firstly, this setting drives me up the wall. If you’re going to choose one setting, make it the one that starts a series at the beginning. It’s not rocket science! All the Global apps just crash now.I used Global Player for years to listen to RadioX & LBC mostly. Especially listen again, and it was also my go-to podcast app (for all podcasts). It was a 5-star app. About a month ago it, and all the other Global station players, just crash. I start the app, it appears, and disappears after a few seconds. Constantly asks you to accept cookiesEvery time I open the app I'm asked to accept your cookies. I choose not to, so I click "Reject All". Next time I open the app I'm asked again. I have already rejected your cookies. Stop asking me! Curiously, if I accept the cookies I'm not asked again. That's a bit rubbish. my decision not to accept your cookies should be respected. To do otherwise is to disrespect your customers. You seem to use this app as a test bed to see how much you can get away with. Full-screen video adverts that you can't skip for 15 seconds was bad enough, but you really need to stop this. You're giving us more and more reasons not to use your app..Version: 64

App keeps crashing on iPadHas been happening occasionally for months, but more and more and now every 10-15 mins whilst listening the app crashes, turns sound off, but is loaded in the background. Have latest iOS 17.1 installed and most recent update on app. Have tried force restarting the iPad, have tried uninstalling the app force restarting the iPad and reinstalling the app. App still crashes after 10-15mins of play. Data ZapaIt’s a great app in many ways.. Catch can be very glitchy though. Pause and rewind live radio always works well. Biggest problem by far is the data usage on 4G because of all the other pointless promotional stuff going on such as latest news, videos, advertising podcasts, advertising other radio shows. These adverts are full of videos so burns through data. Settings are needed to be able to switch these off on mobile data networks..Version: 114.0

LBC appI prefer the interface of the LBC app. way easier to navigate - all stations are there, all podcasts. all catchup..Version: 110.0

Autoplays when you open app - very annoying!I opened the app without headphones in on public transport to see if there was anything I wanted to listen to, and it started loudly playing before I’d selected anything at all. I imagine this increases average app use time or something, but it’s very annoying for the user. It’s the sort of behaviour we’ve come to expect from some apps - sending push notifications that are just reminders to open the app rather than useful information. More people should call this sort of thing out, or it will become more common..Version: 123.1

Catch up freezes or buffers on an iPhoneIt’s not fit for purpose. I like to catch up on James O’Brien or Andrew Marr but it buffers and doesn’t play on catch up or suddenly freezes. I have to completely close and reopen it 3-4 times for it to work. I thought it was my old phone. Nope. New phone is the same. No matter if I’m on data or Wi-Fi. Try rewinding it and it’ll definitely freeze on catch up. Works better on catch up on a laptop instead of the app..Version: 114.0

Why require a sign-in account? Just play music!This used to be a really good app. But then they updated it and made it so you had to create an account and sign in to listen to music. Had the app for less than 30mins then deleted.I’ve been listening to Heart Dance, both on my DAB radio at home and in my car for some time now. So, decided to download the app, so I could listen everywhere I go, including in the bathroom. Download fine, synced with my Facebook and whilst the app worked very well and the HD audio was a bonus. What I did not like, was the commercials every so often, just like the regular DAB radio transmission. I appreciate that you’re a commercial radio station, paid by advertising but I would have thought, creating an account and logging in on the app, that it would be commercial free, just like your main competitor, who transmits commercial free radio on their app when you log in. So guess what, I’ve deleted your app. I don’t mind commercials on DAB radio’s when I’m casually listening but I wasn’t happy that, relaxing in my bath, what followed after a song, was a ton of commercials.
