✓ This game would be awesome if:The premise of the game is awesome but the developers are the most greedy I have ever seen in an app game. They are constantly trying to find ways to make you pay more and more - for example: they offer package prices different to each player so I may be offered a pro license for $49 and another player may only have to pay $9.99. They also make the powerups necessary for winning duels and they keep re-designing the game to make you go thru powerups like water. If you want to compete successfully you will need to spend more than $400 a month. If you don’t care about winning- it is a fun game but you will lose 90% of the time and not reach your goals if you don’t at least have dice, weight and luck. So yea I could choose to play for free if I want to let my clan down and not finish my daily tasks that help my clan. I play for the number 4 in the world team so I know what I’m talking about. ✓ Poor customer supportAfter the new update absolutely destroyed multiple areas of the game, the developers sent out an apology gift to every player. Having spent money and the items I paid for were rendered worthless because of all of the bugs, I contacted support to see if they could offer something in the way of compensation to myself, you know the kind of person who pays their wages. ✓ Fun but expensive and very prone to crashingIt is a fun game to just play around on but if you actually try to get anywhere in the competitions, you had better be prepared to spend $10-$30 for power ups just about every 2-3 day competition. That is after you have already gathered a number of good fishing rods and lures for every different area (which will likely set you back at least $200-$300 after you have leveled up . In short, this game is incredibly expensive and if anyone willing to sink serious cash into it can be in the winner’ circle. While the in-game purchases can quickly add up in many current games, this one is also currently very prone to crashing. I do not mean one to three times per day but more like 4-6 times per hour and often when you are in the middle of a duel. During weekends or peak gaming times, the servers are often overloaded and laggy. It is certainly not a connection issue as it also happens when I am on a 2gig wireless connection. Recently there are far to many people using a hack to get unlimited pearls and power ups this combines with strong players deliberately loosing battles to play easier players when it helps them mean it’s become very tiresome and a lot less fun. Always a new fish ( 1-2 a week now ) so you have to spend money to keep up and the developers use it to cash in. Devs don’t seem bothered by anything that is fed back so play if you want but don’t expect to win or get a fair chance.. as you can tell by their review being left by someone over a year ago saying how good the game is.. not a true reflection of how it is now. ✓ Good game with some issuesWhen I started playing this game it was great but recently a lot of the events need you to spend cash in order to get the lures for the new fish. There was also a recent update where the layout of the screen changed slightly and the shop button was moved. It was a stupid change as it made more sense having the shop button where it was to the left of the screen under the events. Other updates have also ruined the feel of the game. I have a 1 star rod and I’m being matched with players who have a 5 star rod when you’re never going to win that. It’s a shame that another game has gone straight for money rather than making it fun for everyone. I would definitely give 4-5 star if the game was fair in the duels as that’s my only problem with it so far. Only to find that I didn’t receive it I payed £20 to get nothing when I told them what had happened all I got was messages with no substance over the course of a week or more. The rewards for these event have become an insult to the players and most don’t even bother playing for days. They do this so you’ll spend money but don’t be fooled, even if you spend money you get nowhere. When I started out they had only 30 fisheries to play in, and they’re now up to 50 with a new one coming once a month. Again so you’ll spend money on a new pond. As another reviewer stated, it’s a 5 star game in a 2 star wrapper. You will quickly see what I mean when you start playing. First, there is no real skill involved. The only skill is catching the fish and it will take you all of a couple times to master it. Then it’s boring. This is a strategy game. Don’t get me wrong, a strategy games can be fun too, but here is where the problem lies. The only way to compete is to spend real money. And a LOT of it. In game purchases are unreasonable. I do believe that if you like and play a game a lot, you should compensate the developers. They put a lot of time and money into the app and they should see some return on that investment. Problem is, it costs way too much and the game is rigged that way. Either you pay for legendary lures or you lose duels during events. Each legendary lure will cost you $20 in a pack. I’ve unlocked just 8 fishery’s so far and at a minimum to compete, I would’ve had to spend $160 and I’m only half way there. NOT worth it. I’ve asked for full refund of any of my purchases, and I received an auto response saying that I have to take it up to Apple support for a refund. They also asked for screenshots, but how difficult is it to find a glitch where I press a button, nothing happens, and my money is taken anyway? I have latest iPhone 11 with all software/apps updated. Sometimes the game even loads an older version of the game upon startup. I have to close the app and reopen it just to get it to work, very often. ✓ Pay to play and FOMO mechanics taken to the extremeI can respect the devs need to make money, and given it’s a free download with no ads there are going to be a good amount of pay to win mechanics. What I can’t respect is the insane amount they charge for the ability to compete in any weekly challenge. Want to catch the legendary fish of the week? That’ll be $10 just to get the right lures or rods for a one-off event. Want to upgrade your village enough to get rewards before the arbitrary timer runs out? Well it takes 36 hours to upgrade the lodge, which needs to be completed before you upgrade the two other buildings which need to be completed before you upgrade the building that ACTUALLY counts towards your progress, so you better spend some pearls to speed things up. And of course all of these require farming materials which take hours, which can also be sped up by spending pearls. Probably averages around 300 pearls EACH for the last 10 steps, which are on “special” offer for $10 for 350 in the shop. You get the idea. Duel matching is a joke - it frequently matches beginners against high level players, essentially making it impossible to win. It gets stuck on a loading screen during matching and you have to force close the app and reopen it, wasting precious time. Duels are needed to reach goals in certain locations, but you can’t choose your duel location and 99% of the time it sends you to the Florida Coast, which does not count towards those goals. The name of the fish is often mismatched with the picture of the wrong fish, taking away much of the satisfaction of a mythical or boss catch. I tried an experiment where I bought a power-up pack, and noticed I started winning. Then about a week or so later, I couldn’t win a single duel. The fish are patterned and colored correctly and animated nicely, but be ready to lose a lot, I wish there was a tier system in place, re: Dueling one that is not based on Trophies. It’s frustrating losing a lot, I just dueled another player who had 2500+ wins and 1400+ trophies vs. my 60 wins and same amount of trophies. I lost, this is no surprise, giving the fact that you get at least 2 hooks per win, that comes to minimum of 5000 hooks. Which in turn comes to 330+ Hook packs that gives you money, pearls and lures. I’ve reached out to support with no response. I was cheated out of prizes by players having more points than is possible in the events.
