Can’t save custom cook settingsWhy suggest I go to the trouble of naming and adding custom alerts to a custom cook if I can’t save it? You push us towards registering for your cloud too. Why if we can’t save the actual data we want to keep? It feels intrusive for no payoff to the customer. Please add the ability to save and restore settings or I’ll be getting irritated every time I use this thing..Version: 2.11.0

Works 1 of 5 timesWhen it works and somehow the probe connects to your phone, either through magic or luck, the meat turns out great. Otherwise, it’s a useless infuriating app that lives on your phone and an expensive paperweight that lives in your drawer. My probe almost never connects to my app, even if I forget the connection and start all over again (sometimes it seems to help). The app is horribly designed with elements that look like buttons that should do something, but are not. Settings and connections are hidden away behind multiple menus. Even though MEATER was bought by Traeger recently, the app is still has a ton of issues. Get a different wireless probe..Version: 3.3.2

Distant says 50m mine 5mI paid for a 50m wifi radius that’s down to about 5m. It keeps disconnecting from my device. Is there away to improve. I have seen similar reviews..Version: 3.1.6

Connection sometimes difficultOften, when I open up the app, it will not allow me to establish a new cook. It does not seem to be incredibly user-friendly. But once I play around with it, I have found that if I find a prior cook, I can ask her to repeat. But I don’t know how to establish a new cook the way that I did when I first used it. However, when it does work, it seems to be great. But I wonder how I can get it to work on my phone when the phone is not within 6 feet of the smoker. I cook in the backyard and don’t know what’s going on until I actually walk the phone all the way out there and it reconnects once it is within a few feet..Version: 3.3.1

MeaterSays it’s connected…says it’s connected on software, but then it also says no probes paired and won’t start the cook.Version: 3.2.2

Just okIt only works over Bluetooth so I still have to be fairly close. It also sends incessant notifications for things like the estimated cook time remaining, which is always way off anyway. One notification is more than enough..Version: 4.0.0

Not HappyI bought the + model thinking I would have ample range in my small backyard. The probe will not stay connected even though all lights are green and the probe is charged. I’ve run all the trouble shooting tips with no joy. It’s the definition of insanity. I try the probe each time I cook a piece of meat and each time I’m disappointed. I’m very confident it’s not me. Also, prepare to receive more emails than you ever dreamed possible from a meat probe company. I had to designate all the emails spam because I couldn’t stop the inundation otherwise. If I wanted an email from the company everyday (sometimes multiple in one one day) I would have asked for them. And, you are almost forced into the emails. I was hoping for a simple to use Bluetooth thermometer but that isn’t possible with MEATER+. It’s waaaayyyy more complicated than it needs to be..Version: 2.7.0

Waste of moneyI have two of these. Both are not working. Does not connect to my phone. Would not recommend..Version: 3.1.6

Stop digging for likesGreat app until they started bothering me with a pop up to like them on Facebook every few minutes. Please stop this..Version: 3.3.3

Solution looking for a problemAn old fashioned thermometer is one you stick into the meat, wait about 30 seconds, and see the temp. Cheap & easy. The new way is to buy a much more expensive, battery operated AND rechargeable digital thermometer, which requires you to load an app onto your phone (and keep updated) and then requires that you create an account (with password 👍) to login to this app so that you can use the system to tell you what the temp is. Oh, and the probe is three times thicker and has to go in about 4 inches. Again, a “solution” looking for a problem. Threw mine into the electronic recycle bin after the second use and went back to my nice old, reliable analog thermometer. Regarding the developer’s response: I would like it better if you did not require that an account have to be set up to use the thermometer. I can see no valid reason why you can not just make it work with the app without having to create an account and log in..Version: 3.3.1

Frustrating at timesShort range of bluetooth is a nuisance. But the biggest problem is not having a clue when your roast will be ready because with a roast it just takes such a long time to give any indication of cool time that you haven’t a clue when to start vegetables etc. this should be addressed by having an option to tell the app what temp you’ve set the oven so that is could more quickly provide an estimate accepting this will alter throughout but a rough idea would be a help. The thermometer is an accurate thermometer and cooking to temp is the best way but never having a clue when a toast will be ready is frustrating. Its just a clue I want !.Version: 2.11.0

Overcooks, low rangeBeen using this for about a year. If I take the meat off the grill and place on a cutting board to rest immediately upon the app telling me.... the meat will cook 10-15 degrees past my target internal temp every single time. I’ve unfortunately had to learn to just remove meat as I see fit, as the app’s predictive analytics are worthless. This is my biggest complaint. Apparently the app thinks meat carries over just 3 degrees while resting. Also frustrating is the lack of range when cooking. If you close the lid on even a standard Weber kettle grill, the phone has to be within 5ft (sometimes less) of the grill to work. Pretty much makes the MEATER useless for low and slow cooking. As for cooking hot and fast, well, 500 degrees is the ambient temp limit before potentially damaging the meater, so it’s useless for that as well. It seems this device was designed without grilling in mind. The range is decent when using with a glass door oven (the phone can be anywhere in the kitchen). If I’m being picky, I will also say that because the meater is so large, it can be a bit odd looking for presentation purposes when all your slices of steak or pork tenderloin have a pencil sized hole in them unless it’s convenient/possible to stick the probe in against the grain (not always possible depending on your cut)..Version: 2.0.5

Loses connection ALL OF THE TIMEThe probe loses connection. The charger and phone are sitting right outside the oven. Happens most of the time. I have given up on it..Version: 4.0.2

GarbageComplete waste of money. I can only assume these are all fake reviews. Connection is so bad, it only works if your phone is in the bbq.Version: 2.4.1

Poor ConnectivityGreat kit, nice software, just spoiled by the flaky connectivity. This thing is supposed to have up to 50 metres of range, and I’m not daft enough not to understand objects and walls get in the way, but when it’s in my oven, with the block 2 metres away, you can’t be the other side of an internal wall without it losing connection. I’m stood in my kitchen typing this when I should be sat on my sofa, 10 meters away. Outdoors the same. Manado is 10 meters from my house, but lose connection as soon as I walk inside. Disappointed..Version: 3.1.4

Gone to heavenI think my meater is dead. I’ve used it several times and ok, sort of. Tonight I cooked lamb chops according to the Weber rules. The meater carried on as usual about high temperatures in direct contradiction to the Weber temperature indicator on the bbq. Oops then the flames seared the chop and the meater. It’s out of shape and I doubt if it will charge again who knows??? The charger light is on no matter what when plugged in..Version: 3.2.2

So fecking frustratingHad the meat block (4 probe) for a couple of years now, I’ve spent a fortune trying to get the flipping thing to work consistently. I’ve even had to Wi-Fi mesh my garden where my BBQ is so the block will connect to the wi-fi. I have to have the block within 12 inches of my Weber kettle to get any hope of a Bluetooth connection between the probes. It’s really not worth the hassle and each time I have to revert back to my ThermPro TP-08. I installed the latest software update hoping that this would address the know issues with this product, in preparation for a brisket cook today. All worked well for the 1st couple of hours then the gremlins started again. The unit was fully charged and had fresh batteries in. In summary, a great idea poorly executed..Version: 3.1.6

Meat at its best (MEATER+)I’ve recently gone down the rabbit hole of barbecue and smoking. This thing has been my right hand tool through the journey. They say the journey is the reward but that’s an understatement. A lot of the comments I’ve read say that it disconnects, it has not disconnected one time for me (20+ cooks). I do keep the probe clean and scrub it down after each use like the directions say. Other than that my only suggestion would be to keep the notes synced across devices. If I start a cook and add notes on my iPad, I cannot see or add to the same notes on my iPhone. UPDATE*** At first, I thought it was my grill’s probe, but after a smoke with 1 meater probe in the brisket and the other resting on a pan (2” up from grill surface) , the temperature fluctuations are ridiculous. Initially I will set my grill to 200° and the meter would only read the ambient as 150°. It will have this wide gradient for most of the cook. The closer to the stall and subsequently after, the ambient reading from the meater and the setpoint for the grill start to align. I can trust the meter only for an internal temperature. Other than that the timing and ambient are not anything I can trust. I realize that initially there’s not a good predictive estimate on timing for large blocks of meat because of the stall but this is like that across all cooks, whether it be a steak, fish, etc...Version: 3.2.0

Want to love it, but has become really difficultReally difficult to connect every time I turn on. Will go back to igrill due to this. Even when you go to help section it’s not available for wifi.Version: 2.11.0

Bad connection all the time.Brutal waste of money.Version: 3.3.2

Not working rightThe app quit connecting to the charging dock and will only connect directly to the probe. Now if I walk more than 6 feet away from the probe I loose connection. Tried customer service but that was useless. Couldn’t get a person & couldn’t get the answer I needed through email. Not happy. I’m now shopping for another brand. I’m using Meater Plus. The dock initially connects to the probe, indicated by the blinking light. When I try to connect with my phone via the app the light on the dock switches to blinking red and the app connects directly to the probe. How do I tell the phone app to connect to the the dock instead of directly to the probe? I’ve put fresh batteries in everything. Tried deleting the app & re loading. Still won’t work..Version: 3.3.2

External temperature isn’t accurateI love it, because it helps me when I’m grilling… The downside is that the external temperature is not nearly as accurate as the thermometer on the grill. The developer reached out to me and said that basically it can read differently based on the appliance and the location of the thermometer, and that it’s “not wrong”… that’s all well and good, but I’m a scientist and I know how to run an experiment. When I have two of them side by side in the same piece of meat reading differently, and when it’s reading the ambient temperature incorrectly (both indoors and outdoors) before it even makes it on the grill, it’s wrong. When my Primo has been cruising for 8 hours steady on at 225 and the MEATER is variable all the way to 300… it’s wrong. You went from 3 stars to 1 star by basically telling me that the reality I see and my personal experience with your device is just in my head, instead of hearing the feedback and looking for a fix. Even if you’re correct, it’s still a design flaw because I’m not getting accurate external cooking temps... I still rely on the grill thermometer instead of the MEATER. Now I’ll be looking for a different product. Good job..Version: 3.3.1

Why do I need an account?Sign in to use this app is nonsense. Previous versions of this app didn’t require a sign-in. It’s a meat thermometer not social media..Version: 3.3.3

A frustrating MEATERI have an iPhone and iPad - when I go to use this device it never seems to link from the block to iPhone or the iPad. I wont pair them together that seems way to much of an ask. The probe has been in the 2lb gammon for 15 minutes and still no reading even though the Bluetooth says it is connected to the iPhone. What an utter waste of time - i have the good old thermometer sitting ready to give me a reading. I will try again to get some support however like the MEATER there is no reading or response Robin.Version: 3.1.4

Could be betterWhilst it does cook meat perfectly, you can’t walk too far away from the oven or it disconnects. I think the point of this thermometer is that you can leave the oven and it’ll alert you when it’s almost finished but I find I have to stay by the oven just so it stays connected!.Version: 3.1.6

Cook time - too randomI love the wireless probe - best on the market. However when trying to manage the cook time using the app the range is way too random for my liking. You can be sitting watching cook time slowly drop and then - bang! You’ve suddenly went from 20minutes to 40 minutes and then it starts to climb. 10 minutes later it’s ready. Better accuracy on cook time would make this the best on the market..Version: 2.6.1

Poor in several ways, but does the basicsThis is a nice UI and appears to do what it says, but it is let down by two major flaws: 1. Using a kettle BBQ, the metal shell of the BBQ frequently interrupts the Bluetooth connection, which leads to constant notifications which are both useless and cannot be turned off. The probes reconnect on their own after a few seconds, so no action is needed, but it means that the app cannot be left to alert you of real issues with the sound on as it’s a constant flow of pings that mean nothing. An option to choose which notifications are enabled would solve this. 2. The cooking time estimates are wildly inaccurate. Fora 10 hour slow roast pork shoulder, I always get around 3 hours estimated at the start. Also, probes with cooler ambient temps sometimes show shorted estimates for the same cook (I use multiple probes in the same joint).Version: 3.1.3

Piece of crapHalf the time it works fine l, the other half I’m trying to re-connect it. Taking it in and out of the meat on my smoker, losing heat and time. It’s so so so frustrating, especially when you’re trying to time food for guests. It has nothing to do with my phone because the latest iPhone, clearly the internal hardware of this device is of low quality. It’s just so disappointing, if your going to make a product, make it right..Version: 3.2.2

Probes Great. App AwfulThe app has no idea how to cool meat. All it’s suggestions and predictions are wrong. It treats each prove as a separate item so two probes in one chicken gives different cooking times when it should understand that different parts of a check cook at different speeds. The wireless probes are great and so easy to use. The app sends constant alerts about taking meat off when it it half cooked. Total joke of an app..Version: 3.1.6

Ambient Temp is out of WhackI’ve been in contact with customer service for the ambient temp for almost 3 weeks and they are extremely tough to get a reply back from. I’ve sent them everything they asked for and haven’t heard from them in over a week. If I could give them a 0 star rating, I would. Customer service is absolutely atrocious..Version: 3.2.2

BranchementJe me bat pour le branchement à toutes fois Je suis en Bluetooth branché Impossible de se brancher dans l’application MEATER.Version: 3.3.3

UnreliableMine is going back to the shop. It only connects maybe half the time. Then I have to delete the device from the app the re-pair it. They also make having a cloud account with them mandatory for the device to function, which I don’t like. It’s a meat thermometer. Having a cloud account for it is a bit overkill in my opinion..Version: 3.2.1

Fantastic until it Came ApartThis is one of the greatest inventions for grilling since the invention of Bluetooth. It syncs to your phone effortlessly once you do the initial setup and it makes flawless steaks, etc (but steaks and other fast grilled meats are the thing you’ll see the most effect on imo) every time. However, this latest grilling session when I went to take the probe out of the meat, the black top came out of the metal base (definitely not supposed to happen). Meater, if you’re reading this, you need better epoxy or something on that connection. I hope I can send in for repair / replacement because I love this thing and would otherwise give it 5 Stars..Version: 2.11.0

Not happyDidn’t even last year. Cleaned after every cook yet now the probe fails to connect. Battery been replaced, been used in correct temperature parameters. I did really like it yet $199AUD for less than a year, expect this to last longer.Version: 3.2.0

Good when it works but constant disconnect issuesGreat when it works but almost every time I use it I spend 10 to 20 minutes trying to get the meater block and the probe to connect properly. Either the block isn't connected or it cant find the probe, or both. Forgetting and re pairing doesn't work. Eventually though, for some reason it just all hooks up and works (until next time). To make matters worse, the setup menu is not intuitive and the connection help is very wordy, for specific circumstances and doesn't match the options in the app. This is very frustrating and an experience shared by everyone in my local bbq club who has a meater..Version: 3.2.2

Not worth the moneySo far this has been one of the most unreliable products I have used and waste of money. I have the unit setup for cloud and it drops constantly. Even Bluetooth the probes drop all the time. I’ve had the probes sitting right beside the block and it still drops. It’s not my Wi-Fi it’s on the 2.4ghz phone work on the same AP. I have opened a support ticket but support just says reset the device which does not solve my problem. My final straw was my last cook the app said that my food temp was 122 degrees on one probe, but it was 204 on my instant read. The second probe was 108 and the meat was 208. I am sure that I am a one off since there are plenty of great reviews. Customer support has not been useful since the response is to factory reset the unit which does not solve the problem..Version: 3.2.2

Rarely worksRarely works, constant blue tooth issues, at the moment I’ve got a Turkey in the oven. Im standing next to the oven and so is the block and it still won’t work and that’s after also doing the update last night. Definitely not worth the $220 we paid for it..Version: 3.1.3

Data failed to saveAfter a cook, which was successfully monitored to completion (although both ipad and phone failed to alert the end of the cook with an audible Alarm) the probe remained in the meat to monitor the temperature during the meat resting. However, during the resting period the cook data was lost entirely after attempting to interrogate the cooking temperature profile of the cook. The cook data on both iPad and iPhone could not be recovered and was not posted or saved to the historical cooks. Very poor software assurance release..Version: 3.1.3

Connectivity is weakI’ve sort of figured out how to keep things (mostly) connected and online, but for something this expensive it’s really not good enough. There are many cheaper & better options out there….Version: 4.1.0

When it’s working as intended, it’s great, when it’s not, it’s infuriating. My girlfriend bought me the block for almost $300 three years ago. It’s update on firmware and app version, and I literally cannot get MEATERLink to work with my wifi. It connects, but then immediately has an error. This means I can pretty much monitor my cook from about 15 feet away because I’m limited by Bluetooth. It’d be nice if I could leave my smoker on and leave the house, but apparently that’s not an option. I’ve followed every single step that you can on their “Support” area of their site, but of course there’s no direct link or number to contact them because they’re probably sick about complaints of subpar performance on a $300 piece of wood..Version: 3.3.1

Meater plusGarbage! On my second unit. This one is worse than the first one.Version: 3.3.1

Great when it worksWhen it works, it’s wonderful. But half the time and with absolutely no reason, the probe will not connect. Resetting, updating the app, ensuring the probe is sparkling clean make no difference. It just won’t connect and is therefore unusable. A very pricey fridge magnet. I’ve been messaging with customer support for months and they have no answers, just tell me to let them know when it happens again. I send photos and video and they just suggest I update my app. Which is updated. So it seems they don’t stand behind their product and/or the app is unreliable. I can’t tell which, and MEATER+ customer support is no help in figuring it out, so this review reflects the whole package..Version: 3.0.1

Don’t touch itThe worst It always disconnect.Version: 3.2.2

Connection issue’s obviouslyI’ve had my Meater + for a year now. I’m a big rotisserie fan so the wireless option was great for me. I’ve used it for 12-15 cooks, I’ve had a couple of issues connecting, but tonight’s was the worst. It’s clean, the batteries new, the block on the side next to the probe, apps up to date, everything reset and still nothing. I want to love this but I can’t.Version: 3.2.1

Wifi Range SucksThe meater I have has terrible wifi and/or bluetooth connection. My phone has to be right beside my smoker in order to get a reading. Also, it’s ability to read internal temperature is unreliable. I have to double check the temperature with a separate meat thermometer & MEATER is usually 5-10 degrees off..Version: 3.2.2

Too inconsistentI have the MEATER Plus. When it works, it’s great. It just doesn’t always work. The app and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi is way too buggy. I don’t think I’ve ever gone through a whole smoke without it disconnecting at some point. The cloud is lousy. I have to have a device at home connected to the base, and the internet in order to see what my meat is doing remotely. Even at home sitting on the couch 10ft away (inside with a huge window between) it still disconnects anytime I turn my screen off. So the base, that has to be connected to my iPad, which is connected to my phone through the cloud. It always disconnects. I guess it’s too cloudy. I smoke enough stuff, I could easily use the four pack, but I’m not about to spend that kind of money for a product that still has a lot of bugs. I’ll probably end up going with the MeatStick for the four pack bundle..Version: 3.1.6

Make sure your grill is compatible before using!I backed the meater smart thermometer on indiegogo back in 2016 and waited patiently for over a year to receive my product. Promised essentially unlimited range for temperature tracking, I was sold immediately. And no wires to boot! However, the product has been nothing but a disappointment from my first cook. I have a traeger Texas elite 34 pellet smoker and when I use the probe, I can get no more than 10 feet from my grill before losing Bluetooth connection to my meater. I’ve also tried the meater link, which uses Bluetooth to connect to a device near the probe and WiFi to connect that device to a second device. Still a no go. Same problem with meater cloud. When I contacted meater about these issues, they had me complete a range test, making sure the probe is unobstructed by anything. Meaning it’s not in my grill, creating a test that is impractical as it’s not a proper demonstration of the products use. I was told the product is in working order and that my grill is incompatible with the probe as it blocks too much Bluetooth signal. I would absolutely not recommend this product for anyone that does a significant amount of smoking, or grilling with a closed lid..Version: 1.2.4

It Works, But Not a Great ExperienceI’ve had this product for about a month now. I think the developers should take some design and functionality cues from the Fireboard app. This app looks cartoony and something a child would use, not something you’d expect to get with a $250 thermometer. The thermometer aspect works great, however the app is clunky and difficult to use. Prompts are confusing and things you would expect to be able to do (such as rename a cook after you’ve started it) aren’t possible. But if you want to touch a number and have useless colorful ring emanate from it, then this what you’re looking for. If you just want to look at a temperature from your phone, this will work for you. However it doesn’t do much more than that well..Version: 1.5.10

Requires personal information to useThis is a prime example of the IoS. I shouldn’t have to provide personal information such as my name and e-mail address to use a meat thermometer. Besides, the hardware design requires inserting the probe several inches into the meat to avoid damage to the probe, so it’s really only good for large roasts..Version: 4.0.1

Feels like a spam appWill it let me delete off my iPhone.Version: 3.2.2

Not as good as it could beI have had one of these gadgets since Christmas. I have had limited success with them, meat tends to cook at different rates depending the size, if it is boned, rolled, tied and/or stuffed, the algorithm does not take these factors into account hence I get very inconsistent results. I would strongly suggest working with a variety of chefs, and home cooks to re-develop the cook menu to include some more options. Strange things happen while cooking meat like a small roast takes proportionally longer than a mid sized one, then from mid to large size you are on a curve not a linear pattern. Bone in meat can take less time since the bone acts as a conductor of heat into the joint. Stuffed items need extra time. A trussed chicken will take longer than an untied one which in turn will take more time than one on a French rack. In summary nice physical device quite badly let down by a poor app, more exactly a bad Options set and AI.Version: 2.5.1

Too short a rangeHave had these for 2 years and have to put the block beside the smoke can’t have it in the house unfortunately as it can’t connect to probes in smoker. It is 5-6 feet from inside house(glass sunroom) to Smoker. So on a long cook need an umbrella to keep block out of the rain/snow..Version: 3.2.2

Same as other reviewsTerrible connection about 10 feet, and you have to have the app open for it to stay connected. Tried 2 different ones a year apart same issue as everyone else..Version: 3.3.1

Impossible customer service and terrible outcome..Ordered the product to be in time for a family meal for my late father. My product was firstly sent to Argentina, then Germany, then Spain. Arrived to me in the UK 2 weeks late. The customer service emails never replied and the only way I could get in contact was to work out who they lease their office from and get their details that way. I’ve followed the instructions perfectly. Probe placement, ambient temp sensor position, testing rules etc. every single cook is 5 degrees above target temp. I’ve sent emails to customer support asking for help. I get nothing back. This product is internet hype in my experience..Version: 2.11.0

Bluetooth and charger temperamentalGreat when it’s working but often doesn’t charge or pick up Bluetooth through phone, which is quite frustrating..Version: 2.11.0

Love it but have range issuesI absolutely loved it when I first bought it. I’ve started to have some issues with it. 70% of the time the app won’t connect to the probe when I go to set up the cook & I have to reset my phone. I’m also having range issues with the Meater +. The charging station seems to need to be right next to the oven meaning I’m not then getting the full use of the range. I still think it’s worth every cent even with these issues I’ve started to have!!.Version: 2.2.5

JunkBought my probe last Christmas and it no longer connects. Piece of crap. Waste of money..Version: 3.3.1

Connection???Always always drops connection when put inside the smoker!! Block as close to the smoker as possible but always drops connection. Don’t think I’ve ever done a full cook without dropping connection. Very very disappointed!!! I would never buy again as I end up always using my wired thermometers!!! These sit in the drawer gathering dust!!!.Version: 4.0.2

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICEProbe quite working all together after just five (5) uses. Contacted customer service and answered two days worth of question and sent requested video and still photos of charger flashing red with or without the probe inserted. Did not hear back from Customer Service for three (3) days. When they finally did respond they said that they noticed on the video that the black ceramic ring around the ambient temperature end was chipped and thus defective. I did notice the chip and obviously agreed with the diagnosis. They ask for pertinent information to replace the defective probe which of course I sent also offering to send the defective probe back to them if they would include a return label. That was three (3) days ago and still no further communication. Totally frustrated with this service..Version: 4.0.2

DisappointedNeater and meater + both worked for 2 hours then crapped out Doing a brisket and some turkey thighs. Now I’m guessing In the garbage they go and I’m buying a hard wired unit This is the third time Meater has let me down. I’m using an Oklahoma Joe off set and a Kamado Joe. Sending unit is right beside less than a foot from the probe Waste of money.Version: 3.2.2

Not sureI really want to like this thing but I had issues on my first book - the app kept on disconnecting when I moved more than 5 ft from my smoker. I read below in one of the reviews that the wooden case that holds the MEATER needs to be close to the thermometer as it is the case that broadcasts the signal. I just did a soft test on that and now I am able to move freely around my house with no disconnecting.. I love how the app tells you the estimated completion time, and shows you current stats for cooking. Based on that and the above I will give it another try..Version: 3.3.0

It works but don’t wear headphonesIt’s a great little device. The app is not obvious when it comes to ending a cook prematurely but is functional otherwise. However, a word of warning. The phone’s volume setting appears to have no effect on the warning sound/alert’s volume. I was in the middle of a call wearing AirPods and now have ringing ears from the alert triggering in the MEATER app. MASSIVE oversight..Version: 2.5.1

Maybe the biggest waste of money since the electric carApp doesn’t work. Probe doesn’t work. It’s glitchy as all get out. Not worth the price tag considering my Coleman thermometer for $12.00 works more consistently than this heap of garbage. Avoid at all costs.Version: 3.2.2

Disconnect’s a-lotFor the $$$ I expected better connectivity, no matter how it’s setup (BT,Cloud,Block,WiFi) it still disconnects a lot causing cooks to be off, most of the time mine does not even reconnect until I do it manually…for example I mowed my front lawn (50ft) total and the Block was outside with me I ended up overcooking one of the two $25(each) Pizmo Filets. The app never alerted me to the disconnect, upon checking the Block the probes in use were just spinning even tho the Block was 2-3ft from the grill…Almost $300 is alot for this product and considering I’ve lost a $25 Filet and $65 Roast…I utilize the WiFi option on my grill again now to avoid issues…I bought this to avoid wired probes but the wired ones and my grill have never failed plus I can truly connect to my grill without disconnects thru the grills app… Now for the APP layout itself it’s pretty great….Version: 2.9.1

Works okay, but the app is annoying.Tons of Bluetooth issues, which isn’t a big deal, except for the fact that the timer stops every time the Bluetooth drops. I’m actually using that timer. Just let it run. Stop pausing it just because the Bluetooth drops. I’m using it to time my flips! So annoying having to use a timer separate from the MEATER app..Version: 3.3.3

Great app and very handy, extra money for the + was a wasteFantastic app and very user friendly, I’ve had many great cooks. Only downside is I was promised 50m range and I’m often disconnected within 20-25m..Version: 2.11.0

Estimated cook time failsThe last time I used the app it took quite a while for the “estimating cook time” to figure itself out. Like 15-20 minutes minimum(which seems Ok considering it needs to get a few data points before it can guess. ) but the latest version seems to sit at that screen for hours. The temperatures on the probe are still precise, I double checked with my I start read thermometer. But it would be nice if I can get an estimate on time. Earlier this am it did have a 4 hour estimate which then fluctuated between 4 and 13 hours. This was not helpful and found myself constantly watching the screen..Version: 3.3.1

Probe ConnectionI have the block with 4 probes but they are constantly disconnecting during cooking and the food ends up over cooking because the probes aren’t working. It could be just my block and probes have something wrong with them but I’m not prepared to spend another $400 to find out..Version: 4.0.2

*Download app but when I open it goes to webpage?.Version: 3.2.1

Don’t force an update! Why would you make me do an update before I use it? The thing is already stuck in the meat inside a bbq and you want me to take it out, do an update and then cook my dinner! Seemed ok the first time I used it, but recently it asks to update EVERY time I use it. Painful..Version: 1.5.4

Awesome with one MAJOR flawThe design and concept are just amazing. However, the Meater utterly fails if the grill or oven get near 500 degrees which unfortunately is almost every grill ... every time. I’m sure you’ve seen this or will if you have the product but the app goes completely crazy and starts alerting you that you will destroy the device which leaves you only with the option of destroying dinner or the device. It then blocks out all other temp readings and obnoxiously screams on your phone. It’s a bit like buying a race car then discovering that the tires can only go up to 70 mph. Seriously ....a grill Thermometer that can’t go much over 400 degrees??? A HUGE flaw. With that said, if they fix this it would be the thing ever..Version: 2.5.1

Good app, Not so great implementationFirst use of the MEATER app and I have to say, visually, it’s actually decent. Looks like time was spent on aesthetics and festers that it doesn’t look thrown together. Some areas of improvement: 1. Range. The original MEATER is so terrible with range I have to have an iPad 2ft from my smoker just to connect to Wi-Fi and transmit data. While this isn’t an app issue, and I hear the + version is a bit better, the original leaves a LOT to be desired. 2. Live events not updating, or say disconnected. Despite having a reliable connection to the iPad via Bluetooth and strong Wi-Fi with the iPad, the live updates feature seems to tel me it’s been disconnected from time to time. Now this is likely due to a power saving issue but I can’t seem to work out why it randomly says disconnected when I enter the app. It quickly goes away but the purpose of live events is to not have to look at the app to see my temps. Possibly a bug here, but without knowing how it’s coded, I can’t say for sure..Version: 3.3.1

Bad connection. Also likes to update during cooks.Whoever is in charge of the software for this device should find a new job. It’s overly complicated to connect to. There’s no way the range is even half of what is advertise. The probe is too thick. They update the software too much for something so simple. I just need it to tell me what temp my meat is, why’re you updating the software while I’m in the middle of a cook?? Leaves little reason why this is better than my “wired” thermometers. So save your money. Update*** I love how the app does NOT tell me when my food is ready or over done. However it when it has a cooking estimate (which is always wrong) it notifies me 3 times. Then notifies me SIX times that the estimated time is 5 minutes (which is wrong)..Version: 3.0.1

More rubbish to collectWhat a waste of $499 got this stupid thing today and was going to use it on the BBQ but it wouldn’t connect a friend has one also and is having problems connecting his , save your money and buy a cheap meat probe at lease it will work , I will be sending this bit of junk back.Version: 2.11.0

Just doesn’t workI’ve tried it 5 times. It worked the first time and was awesome. It has not worked since - ‘connection lost’ . Tried everything.Version: 3.3.0

Drops to oftenDrops often. Put a lid on roaster in oven or if on BBQ, close lid and drops. Frustrating!.Version: 3.3.2

Constant connection problems.Great in theory. Constantly loses connection. The router is 4-5 metres from the block. The block is 1.5 metres from the probes. Always drops out… for the price I wouldn’t bother. Cheaper and more reliable alternatives are out there..Version: 3.2.2

Not stokedI’ve had so many issues with the device disconnecting it has taken away all positives for me. After many attempts at contacting customer support no one was of any help. Then I finally got someone who said my prob was broken so they sent another. Still same issues. I can be less than 3 meters away with no obstructions and it disconnects. Very disappointed as it could be a very good product. Hence why they now have the Lester plus..Version: 1.5.4

No longer worksThe app no longer works as there is a new version (and I cannot update to the latest version because my ipad is too old) and it won’t let me use the version that works on my ipad. The old version worked fine so why can’t I keep using that?.Version: 4.0.1

Worked for awhileWe really enjoyed our Meater Block for the 6 months that we were able to use it. If it kept working I would give it 4-5 stars. I’d sure they will keep improving on it, but ours will no longer connect. I tried to find a number to call, none available. Went through 15 steps to get to fill out a support form that hasn’t been returned. Could be a great company/product, not there yet though. (Update) Meater replaced my unit and it is working like a charm now. Update: We got our Meater Block back after a few weeks, thought it was fixed. It worked one time and then stopped working again. Wanted it to work so bad, first block worked for 10 or so steaks, next one only lasted for 1. Back to the old fashioned way..Version: 2.11.0

Thermometer that doesn't work over 500 degrees?Grilling and searing frequently use temperatures in excess of 500 degrees but, astonishingly, this dumb thermometer doesn't work at such temperatures. Trust me, when the ambient temperature gets over 500 degrees, the stupid app loudly blows the klaxons every few seconds and then blocks the entire screen with a bright red warning message so you can't see anything else. I mean it, you really can't see anything. You can't even see the meat temperature anymore, which was the entire point of all this. The product designers and app programmers must not know anything about grilling, because these are very stupid problems to have. As for this app, its hard to give even one single star for this abomination, a thermometer app that, deliberately by it's design, doesn't show the meat temperature. It's only exacerbated by the fact that the underlying product won't work over 500 degrees, a temperature that most home ovens and even some toaster ovens can achieve..Version: 1.5.2
