✓ Nice app, but terrible payment systemThere are a lot of things to appreciate about this application. Good variety of alarm tunes and ways to adjust them, and different methods to help you get up in the morning (puzzles & missions). There are two major problems with this app though: 1. You need to keep it open 24/7, otherwise alarms don’t work. There is such a thing as background app refreshing and I don’t understand why they don’t use it. 2. Ads are non-intrusive and silent, but you see one every time you stop an alarm (very annoying in the morning). I would normally pay to get rid of them in apps that I like, but heck I’m not going to pay an overpriced monthly subscription for that. It’s not justifiable..Version: 6.29.1
✓ Great but I just turn my phone offAbsolute genius idea, but the biggest downfall for me is being able to simply turn off my phone, then turn it back on again to disable the alarm. I don’t think any 3rd party app developer can override the power button, but it’s just a shame on my part that I have the option to turn my phone off! I think the actual missions are a fantastic way to get your body and mind active, but it’s all to easy to switch of my phone and forget all about the alarm… If app developers can block the user from switching off their device it would be an absolute miraculous feature to implant into alarm apps..Version: 6.81.2

✓ Alarm not ringing with dnd off, ringer on, and app openAlarmy has been a game changer for me, like so many others. Way more effective for waking me up than other alarms I’ve tried. Problem is, in least several months, there have been several occurrences where I do not wake up on time since Alarmy rings without sound. This just happened again today, so I’ve spent a little time scrolling through other reviews, and the developed conclusion is that this should only happen if the phone is in silent/focus mode AND the app is closed. Last night, I had Alarmy open (on my screen) as I closed my phone, I turned on my ringer and set it to full, and my do not disturb turns off automatically way before my alarm is set to sound. But I still woke up to a vibrating alarm with no sound, hours later. This is extremely frustrating, especially since Alarmy has been my top alarm choice for some time. There have been a few occasions where I have supplemented my Alarmy alarms with other alarm sources just to make up for the lack in reliability. However, that is a hassle, so after multiple occurrences of no sound, I am considering looking for another service now if something doesn’t change soon. I hope Alarmy can fix this soon! ✓ Alarm won’t go to device speakers if blue tooth onI listen to audible on Shokz ear buds at night to help me sleep. They usually fall out in the night. I don’t hear Alarmy as it goes to the buds and I can’t stop it doing it so is essentially useless for waking me up in the morning. If I dont listen to music podcast etc I don’t go to sleep. ✓ Alarmy pros and consIts good to have the wakeup check feature But what i would like to see is the app working even when closed in the background, its sad to not have this feature yet it’s available in other alarm apps that are free. Sometimes i would wake up to the alarm but subconsciously swipe up the app closing it in the background and the wakeup check wouldnt work anymore. Another feature would be to add an option for the alarm to work even when phone is on silent as apple’s own alarm clock does. These two features would be immensely helpful for a heavy sleeper like myself who literate gets up does the 3 math questions, jumping jacks, only yet to fall back asleep or sometimes as i said i would just subconsciously close the app or put my phone on silent. ✓ Used to be amazing…This app used to be the good standard of waking up tech. The barcode scanner alarm, the assuredly loud notifications telling you what the current time is if you’re ignoring the alarm, everything. Sadly it has dropped massively dropped off. I stopped using it for however many months and have come back to find two major problems: 1. A prohibitively expensive subscription for features that I’d previously bought outright and thought I had for life. 2. The app doesn’t work! The alarm has failed on me twice. The only purpose of this app was its reliability and making sure that you were awake. If it can’t do this then it’s just a stupid game. People have said that you need to open the app before you go to bed to ensure it works. That’s ludicrous. It never used to be this way. As someone who struggles to get out of bed and had thought had found a solution to that issue, I’m not adding an extra part to my routine just for me to have a better chance at waking up on time! ✓ It doesn’t work like it used to.This app was great when I first used it years ago. But now it doesn’t work. Something about the iOS restrictions: Alarmy is aware and released a statement and a workaround. The work around requires you to keep the app active in the background and you can’t use Do Not Disturb. Keeping it active in the background is cool but I receive calls and text from multiple time zones and my sleep would be interrupted if I didn’t use DND. If you follow the work arounds the alarm will work. But here’s the kicker. The best part of this app WAS how freaking persistent the tasks were. You really had to complete the task to disarm it. Or go crazy. There was no way around it. But not anymore, remember the alarm doesn’t work unless it’s active in the background. So if your alarm goes off at 5am and your super groggy and not in your right mind cuz you’re half asleep, and you quit the app instead of completing the task, it shuts the alarm off. Which means you don’t have to complete any of the task. Completing the task is what woke you up; they require brainpower and a certain level of consciousness. Before the iOS issues, if you quit the app the alarm would continue to go off until you completed the task. So now this app is just another basic alarm not unlike the one on your iPhone. ✓ Fantastic app if not for battery demandI find this app fantastic and would happily rate it a 5/5, however I want this feedback to be seen by the devs. The app is fantastic and effective at being an alarm clock, however it drains the battery incredibly quickly, with the highest recorded power draw out of all of my apps, as long as it is still open in the background. If you forget to close the app properly in the morning it can easily lead to a dead phone by mid afternoon - but if you forget to restart the app before bed you will also be without the alarm..Version: 6.78.1

✓ Good idea but doesn’t work very well.I like the idea of having an alarm that you have to complete a task to turn off. It wakes me up well. However it doesn’t always work. Some days it just doesn’t ring. If you have been playing something through headphones it will blast that out of the speaker at full volume when it does ring. It also drains a lot of battery. I have around a 25% drain a day due to this app. It cannot work if it is not constantly running in the background. Try other apps instead and be cautious of the battery drain..Version: 6.94.2
✓ A total scamWhen I first downloaded this I thought it was amazing, the features were great and it got me out of bed in the morning. However, you only get a week’s free trial and then have to pay £4.99 a month. Nothing had ever worked this well for me before so I was happy to pay, the upgrade promised access to all the “tasks” in the free trial and to get rid of apps. The money went out of my account but the app was still covered in ads and every time I tried to make a new alarm or change the “task” the app wouldn’t let me and told me to upgrade. I upgraded again, thinking It hadn’t gone through but no matter what I was paying for the app and it wasn’t working. I’ve tried fixing this and even contacted the company on multiple occasions but never heard anything back. I’ve now had to take it up with Apple to request a refund. If this wasn’t such a scam I would happily pay £4.99 a month but I’m very disappointed as honestly feel cheated..Version: 6.30.0

✓ BadAwesome when it works, horrible how often it doesn’t. I use QR code scan to wake up, a premium feature. This thing sometimes just sets itself randomly — as I’m going to bed, so I have to get up and scan it just to go to sleep. The thing is, I already did my QR code scan and turned the clock off earlier. So annoying — It just has way too many edge cases and random behaviors. ✓ Useful only in specific conditionsI never write reviews but if I’d known about these requirements I wouldn’t have bothered with the app, so feel obliged to warn others. Firstly, the alarm itself is great. The free version is pretty limited but you’ve got enough access that it’s still worth it. It succeeded in waking me up properly every time it actually went off. Unfortunately it only works if the app is open in the background and your phone is not on silent. It sends you notifications when you close it to warn you that your alarm won’t go off so it didn’t take me long to get in the habit of leaving it open when I closed everything else. If your phone is on silent though, it only vibrates, no sound. My phone is always on silent so this makes the app useless to me. If those things aren’t an issue for you then the app is great. ✓ Bad photo featureI don't normally leave reviews, but felt this app really needed it. Do NOT use the photo feature on this app if you don't live alone (unless taking a photo in your room, but I'm not sure how that would force you to wake up). I set it to take photos of my stairs as it would mean I had to be going down them in the morning to do so. You take a photo and then have to match that photo every time the alarm goes off. The match lines are SO hard to see and unless they're perfect the alarm won't turn off. Add to that the period you have to do this in is very short. So after 3 alarms blaring in the hallway of my house, successfully waking up my housemate at 6:30 and having to delete the app to shut it up, I decided to stick with the maths problem. ✓ Doesn’t work properly!I never usually write reviews for apps but this app annoyed me so much, I just had to write one. The app is good when it actually works, sadly though, it doesn’t work 100% of the time. Firstly I started out using the ‘shake’ alarm. About once a week this feature just wouldn’t work. I’d be shaking the phone the exact same way as the other days (which worked before), but it just wouldn’t count any shakes. And of course the alarm doesn’t stop going off until you’ve finished! So I would have to reset my whole phone in order to turn it off. Then I started using the maths alarm which was better for a while. Then with the new iOS updates, I started having problems with that too. The app started draining about 50-60% on my battery every day!! They tell you to close the app in the background to save battery. Problem is, you have to remember to reopen the app every night or it won’t ring in the morning. There were a few times I forgot to reopen the app, then no alarm rang in the morning and I overslept. This week it just hasn’t worked at all even though I’ve been reopening the app every night. I keep my phone on silent by default, but looks like this app won’t ring at all now if my phones on silent? I need to keep it on silent during the night so notifications aren’t waking me up, so this app is useless now..Version: 6.80.0
✓ It works, but..EDIT: I had to change my review from 4 stars to one. Since I first wrote this, I have tried the app 3 more times, and each time I got frustrated and deleted. It will work fine for a week, and then out of the blue, it decides not to recognize my picture anymore. No matter what I do, the alarm won’t turn off and I’m forced to delete. This has happened a total of FIVE TIMES NOW in about a month and a half. Also? Sometimes the alarm won’t even go off. Or, it’ll vibrate and send notification after notification with no sound. ✓ Don’t bother - more useless than default alarm appI couldn’t update my review, this is my second. I have used this app for a year on Samsung (and enjoyed it) but on iPhone this alarm app is useless and somehow less functional on iPhone. They will not put speakers in maximum volume unless you pay, which in my eyes makes it less functional than the standard iPhone app. The App responded to my last review saying you can listen to “loud” alarms without premium, or that I need to contact tech support to report this, but that is their terminology for “loud”, the speakers are still limited and they promote being able to maximise sound as a premium feature. What a joke. Don’t waste your time with this money-hungry app, and don’t listen to all these glowing reviews as they’re probably before they got excessively greedy. ✓ Great when it works, hell when it doesn’t!I struggle with mornings and getting out of bed in particular. I used the squat task for about a week and a half and it was going well but this morning it would not register my squats whatever I did, after about 10 times of doing the squats, the squats not registering at all and the alarm restarting I had to delete the app. I even tried completely closing and reopening the app! Terrible way to wake up and start the day! Also it used 19% of my battery in the background, I may redownload because of the subscription but if it happens again I am out, not a morning person at the best of times so don’t want this added frustration!.Version: 6.32.0
✓ CAUTION: It will overheat your phone and kill your batteryI LOVE Alarmy. It works so well.. but, they want you to keep it open all day in the background so you don’t forget to set it at night. And it requires access to do everything in the background so it will actually ring I. The morning. The problem is: while running in the background they have it running some sort of processes, who knows what.. but it KILLS your battery. Literally uses more battery than my screen.. since I got up this morning it has used 25% of my battery, which means it is tracking a lot of SOMETHING in the background.. and there is no way to stop it unless you remember to physically swipe up and force close the app every morning. My battery life has cut in half since this started. Also, it makes my phone REALLY hot constantly to where the phone dims the screen and the back of my phone is hot to the touch. After Force closing the app, this all stops. (EDIT: just looked through the tracking data, and while the app is open it literally tracks ALL of your usage data such as: search history, what apps you use, location data, etc. and sells it to advertisers.. that’s why it kills the phone battery.. also.. why am I being charged a monthly subscription when they are making money selling my personal info?).Version: 6.69.1

✓ Issues with picture alarmOverall, the app is good for using as a general alarm but I don’t recommend using the photo option. I’ve been using this app for about a month now and haven’t had any problems with the math and memorization games. I can’t say the same to the pictures. I’m not sure if this was something purposely implemented by the creators, but whenever I take a picture and it doesn’t match up completely, the camera would sometimes flip around and make it incredibly difficult to take the picture. At other times, the picture is (istg) exactly the same as the previous but it wouldn’t go through. My alarm kept notifying me for about an hour while I was doing other things and I had to reinstall the app to turn it off. Again, I’m not sure if the creators did his to intensify the difficulty, but when it’s early in the morning, I don’t want to spend my first five minutes trying to take the picture. OTHERWISE, this app isn’t bad for its other features. I really like having the weather right when I wake up and the features for maths and memorization DO work (personally, only if the difficulty is higher). So overall, a pretty effective system; maybe just a few changes here and there..Version: 6.15.2
✓ Used to love thisI don’t know what happened.. it used to work great no matter what. Silent mode and do not disturb would be on, and I would do other things on my phone after I set the alarm and it would go off no matter what.. the only restriction I ever found was closing out all apps after its set, which is understandable... but now all the sudden it’s not making any noise in the morning. I test it at night after a few late days to work from this happening.. and it works fine, with the silent switch on.. but morning comes and it just vibrates and sends a notification back to back literally every second or two.. so I wake up on my own and have a million notifications that it’s going off, but it’s not. What’s the deal?! Is the only way to use this now is by having the volume and calls available? I take no chances of someone interrupting my sleep! Response to developer: Thank you for getting back to me but I said originally that having it in silent mode AND do not disturb was never a problem in the past... is this because of an iOS update or something? I get calls at all times and really don’t want to have to be woke up by phone calls and texts just to be able to hear my alarm! ✓ Fantastic app but please stop breaking itThis app is fantastic and I’ve been using it for years, as it’s the only thing that will get me out of bed, and not pressing snooze. However, each update that comes out seems to break the app in some way, and until now it hasn’t been anything major. The typing puzzle doesn’t recognise punctuation now, and you have to restart from the beginning because there is no way to bypass this. I’ve had no choice but to switch off notifications and quit the app. Please review your updates before release, this has slowly become more and more annoying and they cause more problems than they solve..Version: 6.90.5

✓ All features behind paywall nowI loved this app and it really helped me wake up as I’ve always had trouble getting up since I was a teenager. I downloaded it a few months back and in that time the price for premium has literally doubled. Not only that but gradually feature after feature went behind a paywall. I was using for a while without premium, then when I joined I was paying $5ish dollars a month for premium, went back to basic and everything started disappearing from the base cover. ✓ Removed FunctionalityI’ve been using this for years and loved it until they recently removed a setting that lets you choose whether the sound keeps playing or mutes as you complete your ‘mission’. This used to be something you chose when setting the alarm but now the setting has been removed and the app now lets you mute the alarm while completing the the mission. If you’re using this app because you will just keep hitting snooze repeatedly on a regular alarm being able to mute the sound essentially just creates the same problem but with a shorter time window. I’ve found myself staying in bed an extra 5-10 mins than before while repeatedly ‘starting’ my mission with it on mute - previously I wouldn’t have been able to do this. I can’t see any reason why they would remove this setting as it’s not even behind a paywall now, just gone..Version: 6.81.0
✓ Works pretty well until it doesn’tI’ve had the app for months and months now, and other than the issue where alarms don’t go off if you close the app, I really liked the alarms. I made sure the app was open and all was fine… until the last several days. For whatever reason, my alarms no longer had the option to be turned off. They would go off as usual, and when I opened the app (to answer my 3 math questions) the app was mostly blank with a white box. The alarm had then gotten so loud my entire house was waking up, so I was trying everything at this point. I tapped everything on the screen, used my volume buttons on the side of my phone, closed the app, turned my screen off, etc. and the alarm would NOT turn off. Then another alarm would go off at the same time, and another, and another, until I had multiple alarmy alarms traumatizing an entire household. I opened and closed the app so many times and it was still completely blank (showing no alarms at all) and didn’t let me tap anything. I even deleted the app and it still continued. After deleting the app and restarting my phone, they finally stopped. I figured it was a weird abnormal occurrence and would never happen again so I redownloaded the app and surprise surprise, it happened again today. If this sounds like a problem that would be overwhelming to you, I wouldn’t suggest downloading this app..Version: 6.53.1

✓ MAJOR bugsI will keep using the free version because it’s the only alarm I’ve found that will play through my headphones (thus not disturbing my partner when it goes off) and also plays downloaded songs from Apple Music. However, the severe and sometimes unpredictable bugs mean that it is not currently worth paying a subscription fee for to open up the locked features. Bugs include.. 1. The option to turn the alarm sound off when completing missions randomly and frequently decides not to work. Because of this I’ve uninstalled the alarm a few times to turn it off rather than complete the missions. 2. It is not optimised for my screen. The sleep quality screen is completely useless because a lot of it is not visible as it is severely zoomed in. Missions are also zoomed in and the bottom cut off the screen. This makes completing (particularly the memory game) difficult as the bottom row of boxes can barely be seen..Version: 24.12.2
✓ Doesn’t workThe picture doesn’t work unless you have the exact same lighting, angle and in the exact same position ???? Stupid. And the QR scanner doesn’t work either. Which is the main reason i got the app considering i want it to wake me up until i get to the bathroom but now can’t do that because the picture of the sink doesn’t work as it has to be PERFECT otherwise the alarm doesn’t stop going on and as for the QR scanner i had to delete the app because i was scanning the same thing over and over again at 7:30 in the morning and it was saying that it wasn’t a match (even though it was) the math problem one is alright and the shake one as well but the reason i downloaded it was so it would get me out of bed and to the bathroom.
