Love the chord paletteThis is probably my favorite app for experimenting with chord progressions. Quick and easy to try stuff out, especially with the new chord track..Version: 1.1.6

10 minutes in this is already an indispensable tool. Was sceptical, but decided it was worth it. I compose on my phone a lot and am always looking for a way to streamline writing. With this setup I think I can pump out great chord progressions with ease. This is a must have..Version: 1.1.15

Amazing features but with one important ingredient missing. The concept of not needing to know theory to play with chord combinations is amazing, it really helps ease the workflow for those of us who have a rough idea of how we would like our music to sound. But even though the chords are there in plain sight they aren’t always available when they need to resolve into a different key. When there is a great chord progression going for example the tonality seems to be leading somewhere but that key is now not present and because we are not pitch perfect we just don’t know what key we need to select in order to find that chord that we can hear in our heads but don’t know where it is in the map. So my solution is that an on-screen keyboard that one can enable and disable could help us bridge the gap between key changes and help us figure out chord progressions much faster with added interest. On a keyboard it’s just easier to find the key that we need and by finding it we can select the key map immediately. Thank you for considering this request..Version: 1.3

Great app for sequencing on the flyHad this included an integrated metronome, I would have given this 5 stars..Version: 1.3

Tuts make all the differenceA nice app plus the tuts make sense of how to navigate and operate. Saw this on a Fb add and thought it was going to help me with writers block as I am contracted to produce a number of compositions per month and it gets harder and harder after many years. So I'm expecting this little app will solve that basic composition requirement. Thanks!.Version: 1.1.3

Love this mini DAW.I’ve spent a lot of time messing around with Klimper and I really enjoy it, I enjoyed the learning curve and I love how intuitive it becomes after putting a little bit of work in to getting to know it. I love the export functions so I can export audio or the midi files to my DAW and carry on working on there, that is a beautiful touch. My only flaw and it’s not really a flaw maybe me just being tight, but I really want the Mac version but cannot bring myself to pay full price for it again when I literally have it on my phone..Version: 1.3

No change in ScalesThe app is cool. Was hoping that they could at least allow to change SCALES!!!!! Maby next update? I’m going to give you guys 5 stars for now. But if I don’t see an option to change scales soon this opinion of mine will probably change. Other than that great job it’s really cool. I just thought that would of been something that you guys would of done from the very beginning..Version: 1.2.4

Excellent way to composeJust needs a few more scales - I’ve been using minor harmonic a lot recently but can’t do that with this app, either go mad and add lots and lots or maybe just let people define their own? The method used to actually create sequences and progressions is great though, fully recommend, will come back and add final star when more scales are added 👍.Version: 1.3

HELPCan someone please tell me in the piano roll when I go to make a melody why all my notes are gray and not lit up with color?.Version: 1.1.15

Getting betterSome nice ideas here, and the midi export is much improved..Version: 1.0.3

For that final star...I’ve got a bunch of these composition aides — apps that help those of us with no musical training to come up with chord progressions that sound good. Most of them aren’t great. Klimper is far and away the best I’ve found so far. That ability to easily come up with chord progressions and then fill them out with leads, bass lines, drums, etc. Is really outstanding and I know I’ll use this regularly whereas the others were all just used once or twice and then set aside. So why only four stars? It really needs a manual. The tutorials are helpful, but I don’t want to sit through half a dozen video tutorials just to find out how to do something. The second thing is the ability to resize the grid manually. I know it’s sort of doable in drum mode, when you zoom in and out, but this is one of those things that needs a menu. I need to be able to switch from quarter notes to eighth notes to sixteenth notes instantly at will. It might be doable, but it’s not easy to figure out how. But the core stuff you’ll use this for — coming up with great chord progressions— I’ve yet to see a better app for that..Version: 1.2.0

Great but..Please update so we can load Klimper into AUM, Beatmaker3 or Cubasis. And more scales please.Version: 1.3.2

Very good indeed! After the lastest update and the fact that the developer is committed to improving Klimper is a bonus in my books. I'm having a very creative time with this app. Thanks for bringing this to my iPad!!.Version: 1.1.1

Fantastic App, Minor ProblemThe app is great and very easy to use. The video tutorials are short and very useful. However, on an iPhone XS I cannot get back to my desktop home page. The app doesn’t seem to respond to the usual slide commands to exit an application. Aside from that, it’s well worth using!.Version: 1.2.0

IncredibleThis is an incredible app. I’ve literally been using it for 15 minutes, and have already created something that sounds rather nice. I can’t praise it enough. I’ve bought a lot of music making apps recently, and this is hands-down the best purchase I’ve made in a long while..Version: 1.2.6

Great app, could use some more thingsI love the chord progressions that you can make with this app. It shows you chords that work best with each other so I can make chord progressions much better than what my tiny brain can make ;) anyways, this app would be perfect 5 stars if it had some more features. For example: more instruments, a swing rather than simple on the beat time, half steps rather than only using notes in the key, things like these. I would still recommend this for any music lover! Worth the money!.Version: 1.1.9

Needs a metronome or gridI just wish it had some type of grid or metronome, or both so I can see how it loops around and be sure its in time, especially if im exporting a loop.Version: 1.2.10

ConnectivityIt’s get really interesting if you could enable guitar chords charts for the chords.Version: 1.3.2

GreatVery underrated app. Once you get the hang of how to use it and select different timbres etc then it becomes a very useful tool for composition :).Version: 1.3

Love It, but . . .I do love this app and the tunes it is helping bring out. One little issue - it crashes when I try to export audio..Version: 1.1.9

Almost perfect........But why no midi tempo sync? Seems odd that you can control other apps via AUM / IAA but can’t control the tempo to properly sync? Other than that one (pretty major) gripe, it’s great!.Version: 1.3

Great App!A concise informative tutorial combined with an intuitive interface meant I was up and running within ten minutes. Now I can play with ideas and compose anywhere. The great thing is I can then export as midi or audio to Ableton. Then all I have to do is apply the track instruments and I am ready for editing and arranging. This is now step one in my workflow. Truly inspirational..Version: 1.2.0

Exactly what I needI have been searching for something like this to replace my piano apps and voice memos. I am a composer and spend most my time writing in my studio; however, I needed a quick way to record ideas and compose snippets on the go and at the time an melody pops into my head. Instead of singing, humming into a voice memo or playing my piano app and trying to memorize the part real quick. Anyway, I would only suggest to the dev to add a more practical way of changing tempo and making an option for triplets at a smaller level. You can write quarter note triplets but nothing smaller, forcing you to redesign your note layout, and adjusting the bpm. Regardless, this app is still a perfect app for what I intend to use it for but I could see it being very limited if people were to use it as a platform for full composition..Version: 1.1.9

CoolI like it but I wish could select chords from different keys. If I change the key, it changes the keys of the chords in my composition..Version: 1.2.5

For the next updateCan we get a chord inversion button for the next update.Version: 1.3

Worth itI don’t know how it’s only rated 3 stars. You can make some crazy stuff on here. Although I wish they’d add more sounds, I love the way it is..Version: 1.3

Great idea but needs a few small things!Great app for getting initial ideas. It’s almost a fully functioning DAW! I just wish it had more scales. It only has the fundamental ones. Seems like an easy update to this great app. Also, the note names don’t fit on the iPhone X screen. Please fix!.Version: 1.2.5

Much potentialNice app with a lot of potential, but a couple of small things missing - it would be great to have clearer grid markings when zooming in to keep track of the main beats. Also velocity controls would be nice, and perhaps a ‘chromatic’ mode where you can just explore all chords in relation to each other rather than a key center..Version: 1.1.17

Better than first impressionsI'm giving this 5 stars because the work that has gone into making an app that helps you find chords of those sorts in each scale is brilliant and this app deserves far more than the 3 stars it's been landed with. However, the issue lays with the UI and adding a tutorial that is interactive with it. People just don't know what to do with it immediately and, despite there being a tutorial button, in my experience nobody wants to spend more than 30 seconds learning something. The fact that it doesn't show you the DAW-like interface until the second video might be a mistake too. You could probably even edit those videos to give a quick glimpse as a first use/install with 30-40 seconds of its potential and that would be far less daunting. Finally, I think people should get a chance to try it. Placing a price tag over something before someone uses it outright is no longer expected. I've noticed apps go more and more for subscriptions OR my preferred take is to give a lifetime ownership at a cost after, say, 7 days of having it for free..Version: 1.2.4

Great ProgramIt’s really good but it needs some work, some of the submenus are not visible because of the way iPhone 11 designed the screen, it cuts out, also the looping part doesn’t let to be adjusted, there’s glitches of dragging the chord and not seeing it properly but playing it!.Version: 1.2.10

Where is the Locrian mode?Very fun app to play around with. The UI is pretty good, definitely better than most other music making apps I have used. Really my biggest concern is the absence of the Locrian mode. The app lets you select the scale/mode you want to play in, however I can’t seem to find the Locrian mode. Another strange thing is there is both the Ionian mode and Major scale to choose from, but these are the same things... Why give two options for the same mode? So this confuses me..Version: 1.1.11

App is cool and useful however I think a couple added features would make it 5 StarsI use this app for intonation purposes and it’s really useful for that! However I think it would be much improved if you could implement accidentals easier, (I.e. A7#5) as opposed to chords which are strictly diatonic. Also if the app could loop while the phone is locked that would help me not kill my battery life while practicing. I mainly have been using it for a drone with a metronome so I can’t speak much on the recording functions, but they seem relatively intuitive, especially if you’re new to understanding harmony. It’s cool to be able to visually pair chords with extensions and not have to worry about intervals. I used to use other apps to drone chords but honestly this one is quick and super simple to use, once the app is open you can immediately start, it’s not like it has a long loading time or anything..Version: 1.2.10

Fantastic AppIt’s great. Thank you. The only thing I would suggest is making the piano roll notes easier to extend and make smaller. Sometimes it’s difficult to quickly put the notes exactly where I want. Otherwise it’s very intuitive and a pleasure to use. And add more instruments!!.Version: 1.1.17

GreatI’ve found this to be a really creative tool, I can’t understand the problems others have had with it. It has a beautifully simple interface, and hasn’t been hard to work out once I watched a couple of videos. Perhaps a written manual would help - I’d like to know what the colour and sizing of the chord pads mean for instance. I’ve spent half an hour with this and already come up with something I’m quite pleased with. I’m really hoping that the developers will keep supporting it as I can see I’ll be using it a lot as a sketch pad, and exporting the midi to my DAW to work up into finished pieces..Version: 1.1.2

Good!I will make my own Minecraft music disc :D There are a few hard to explain and annoying bugs though.Version: 1.3

Great creative toolCan you please make a mode where you can free play on the chord chart. At the moment. Every time you press a chord you have to press it again to be able to hear it again.Version: 1.1.17

OMG Wonderful songwriting toolI bought this app years ago and as per usual then started dreaming about my next app. 2021 and I finally start using it today and within 30 minutes of playing around had composed a beautiful piece. An update means once you drag and drop your chord progression in the chord palette it automatically creates the piano roll track for the chords. All subsequent tracks shows chord notes on their respective piano roll's making it easy to stay in key. The built in instruments including synth pad I used for chords, synth arp for lead and violin for melody sound lovely. You can also substitute your other instruments for sound sources and also works well in AUM. You can export as audio file or midi. Some bad reviews due to bugs but all the bugs seem to have been fixed..Version: 1.3
