Food Great! Customer Service PoorI had started then right at the beginning of quarantine and was very happy with things. The food is delicious. However when I had issues, their customer response was very poor. One shipment was damaged before shipping (meals damaged, outside box perfect). They offered me a credit for just the meal after spending 30 minutes with a broken chat bot. It was very frustrating. Then they cancelled my Memorial Day food for the week without telling me. Why couldn’t they deliver it? And if they couldn’t, communication would have been nice. I ended up having to spend money on delivery for the week since it’s hard to get to the grocery store during the week. They finally offered me a $10 credit for the mistake after I proved they didn’t send any notice. And when I asked them to cancel they didn’t really care to keep my business. The associate wasn’t rude but really just seemed cold and indifferent. There was no trying to convince me to stay... not even any hesitation. My customer support experience has me singing up for other services to try. I hope they do better for you..Version: 1.9.6

Not Enough FoodThe meals from Freshly are good, but I am a 100lb female and there literally is NOT enough food in each meal for even me, so I don’t know how any one meal can feed the average person to satisfaction. I can get twice as much food for half the price from a good frozen meal from the grocery store. The food is tasty generally, yet the menu is a bit annoying when it’s the same options each week. Needs more variety. I’m not health/calorie conscious, so I don’t desire cauliflower pasta over regular pasta, etc., and as is the case with many other delivery options, there are several options that I can’t even consider because so many have squash in them, and I really hate squash. Yes that’s just a personal dislike, so if you love squash, then you’ll have lots of opportunities to have it here. Overall, it’s tasty, but most definitely not enough food, and limited options..Version: 1.7.9

Thank You Freshly!Hey Freshly, Thank you for helping me change my life! In the last 2.5 months, I have gone from 240lb to 215lb thanks to the savings of time, money, and calories I gained by joining Freshly. I work full-time with a 2hr minimum round trip commute, and used to stop at the store after work to overspend on dinner, cook the dinner, the overeat the dinner, or just order pizza or take out. Since joining Freshly, I’ve gained back 3 hrs in my day that have been invested in time at the gym or running. The meals are VERY delicious and satisfying, and since it is easy for me to eat well during the day (salads and natural food) and no longer fail at dinner, it has almost been easy to lose weight! It really was a life changing decision. I know there are a lot of other meal companies out there, but I believe in eating real and healthy food in order to be satisfied. Meals are easy to manage with the app and the price point is great!.Version: 1.8.0

Advertised as Keto?I have been doing freshly for about 2 months now. The meals are great. Just enough food in my opinion and tasty. Super convenient between work (with a commute to the city), gym, life.. Freshly tastes the thought and hassle out of it. As other reviewers have said, packaging needs improvement but wasn’t enough reason for me to cancel. However, I signed up after they advertised specifically with “keto friendly options.” There are approximately FOUR true keto meals available weekly (the menu changes) and I am definitely stretching. I was really looking forward to this and was even enjoying it, but when only 3-4 options out of 25 on the menu are under 25g of carbs, there is too little variety. Also, the app should let you sort by carbs, same as the site, while also breaking down Net Carbs - if you’re going to claim to be “keto friendly.”.Version: 1.7.1

The good does not outway the badWhile I enjoyed the food and the ease of having pre-made meals delivered, this did not outweigh the cons that occurred from my first delivery. My first delivery included 5 of the 6 meals that I had paid for. Customer service was great in apologizing and giving me an in-store credit immediately and guaranteed me that issues like these were very rare, so I decided to try again. The second week, I was informed a day before my delivery was scheduled that I would not have a delivery this week. Which was a major inconvenience due to the fact that meal planning and prepping for the week had already been completed. The store did indeed give me another in-store credit and a refund, but my previous in-store credit was erased. I had gone against my better judgement to try Freshly after reading numerous reviews expressing similar concerns with delivery as mine. I love the idea of the service and the food itself, but if the meals are unable to be consistently delivered as ordered than it is not a reliable service and causes more of an inconvenience than anything else..Version: 1.7.3

Very upsettingI have never used a company before I have now been receiving food for I believe it’s going to be five weeks because the first week I was supposed to receive food the food never got there the second week I was supposed to receive the food it got there a day late and they did not even give me a notice of the delay not only that when it finally got there they substituted over half my order without my consent, And every single time I have received my weekly shipment it has been replaced for whatever they feel like it without my consent without advising me that they were going to change anything. I will say that they have always given me a credit but how many credits are you going to continue to give me until you get it right these people have made the same mistake more than four times the onlyReason why I’m giving them two stars is because they have giving me a credit each time but still I should not have to receive the wrong food half of the food I don’t even like because it’s not some thing that I eat and they just replace it with whatever they feel like it without even asking via email text etc..Version: 2.8.2

Disgustingly Misleading CompanyFreshly, shame on you. You market your meals as “fresh” and “healthy,” and you think that by making them gluten free you can trick people into thinking that what they’re eating is actually good for them. So much feel-good packaging and “nutrient-rich” taglines that are DISGUSTINGLY misleading. For anyone considering Freshly, do yourself a favor and read the nutrition facts. I’m not even complaining about the flavor. The turkey meatballs and linguine meal I have in front of me now has 60% DV cholesterol, 39% sodium, and 30% saturated fat. This isn’t an anomaly. If you look across their meals, even the ones packed with vegetables that seem healthy, you’ll find it hard to find anything with a sodium content below 20-30% DV. I’m shocked that no one seems to mention this in the reviews. You are LITERALLY better off eating frozen food from Trader Joe’s that’s half the price - seriously, please compare the nutrition facts between the Trader Joe’s chicken tikka masala and Freshly’s version. Freshly, you are absolutely misleading your customers and you know it. Unbelievable..Version: 1.7.3

The worst experience !!They failed to deliver my food two times in a row and I was depending both the times on the meal that was supposed to get get delivered instead of making one by my own. By the time I figured it out that they messed it up, it was too late in the evening to start making my meal for that evening. You would need to understand that you are dealing with very sensitive part of our life, our meal, our time that it takes to prepare that meal and our entire planning (that we make depending on that meal) for that evening . Evrytime I reach out, I get an apology and a refund. But you do need to understand a refund at that mkment won’t help to fix the situation that you created for the person at receiving end. And by this time I see there to be three addresses, and one of them without my apt no. To mention I have not added the 2nd and 3rd address. Everytime I call customer care, they ask my address for veryfication and somehow that creates a new instance of address in my address list. Please understand my account information is my information that only I should have control on, how some other person can add address to my account? There is even no way to find out the amount of store credit from the app that one has. Each time they fail to deliver, they says they are also adding store credit as compensation (and which is not enought considering the sensitivy of the servise the are responsible for) and one has no visibilty to that store credit..Version: 1.6.1

Poor customer serviceI decided to try freshly because I have a super busy lifestyle with lots of work and kids. Figured freshly would be perfect for that! First week was fine I got my meals on time, great. Second week my delivery date comes and goes and my food never arrived. I reached out and they apologized and said I wouldn’t be getting that weeks food. Are you kidding me? No email prior or nothing as if I wouldn’t even notice? Then they said they refunded me (as they should) and gave me a $20 credit. Thanks? Now I have no food for the next couple days cause of my work schedule I won’t be able to cook meals. Had you guys sent out an email prior I would’ve been able to prepare my own meals (inconvenient which is why I’m ordering from you guys) but still. I order hello fresh for our nanny to cook for three kids and have never had this kind of issue with them. I will be cancelling my subscription because who knows if this will happen next week without notice..Version: 1.7.3

First delivery was great - 2nd was a disasterI set this account up for my mother who is 95 and limited physically. The food was packed perfectly the first delivery and she loved the food but she couldn’t pick the box up and bring it inside her home by herself. Anyhow, one by one she brought the meals in and was amazed by how much packing was done to protect the food with ice packs. So she enjoyed all meals that first delivery. She told me how difficult it was for her to handle the box so I called customer care and asked if they would ring her doorbell & set the box inside the house when she answered the door. Was told will put instructions with delivery but no guarantee. So anyhow, here comes the 2nd delivery, no doorbell, two meals were missing, only one ice pack and all the meals were handled like someone took the box and threw it on the porch. All meals were totally messed up. Almost like retaliation for a simple request. I reported the mess and was given a $40 credit for something we won’t be using again ... they won’t credit back my credit card for missing meals. By the way, my mom said the packing slip listed all six meals even though she only received four meals so someone obviously got into the box before delivery. It was sealed with tape when she got it. Great For Homeowners, Not Everyone ElseAs with most food delivery services, the functionality of the app was great and I appreciated the notifications and emails reminding me to update my orders. Since I live in a larger apartment building, my experience with the delivery of my meals was not great. On almost every occasion, my meals were either left in the mail room outside of a parcel or left outside of the building. Only 1/10 orders were left at my door, and I am inclined to believe it was one of the nicer apartment leasing workers who did that. I suggest that Freshly partner with a larger delivery company who has access to most buildings and mail rooms/parcel lockers to provide a better delivery experience. All this to say: if you live in an apartment/condo with somewhat limited public access, avoid this service. I started using an alternative food delivery service company that delivers via FedEx and truly appreciated that I was able to go to the mail room and retrieve my package from a parcel when I got home from work..Version: 2.3.0

Missing foodWhen the order shows up it’s great food. Admittedly dealt with some issues in the short time I’ve been a member. They filled half of one of my orders with one meal(6 of the same meal I ordered 1 of) it felt very intentional as if they had accidentally made too much and had to offload them on someone. Then come this week my meals never even showed up, reached out on sunday(delivery day) and I was offered a $10 credit(LOL) and told they “may” still show up. Then the next day I reached out and still nothing, they then refunded $108? A weirdly arbitrary number that’s less than the total they charged, and they told me the meals still might show up and that they “reached out to the department that handles this” so now I have no meals and it takes 5 business days for that money to come back. Money I had spent on what was supposed to be my food for the week, so now I have to double dip. Which thankfully I can but what if that was the only money I had for food this week? You took it from my account for what? Just to hold it for a 2 weeks? If you needed a loan I should at least charge interest. Smh, don’t rely on freshly as your main source of food, or you might end up like me, trying to figure it out 2 days after your meals were supposed to here..Version: 2.7.0

It’s ok, very high sodium content.The app was efficient and ordering was easy. I like how you can choose your food and the fact the food was delivered on very effective ice packs. I’m usually not home upon delivery but my food would still be cold in the box after I got home after a 12 hour shift. The reason why I cancelled my subscription is because in my opinion, the food reminds me of grocery store frozen dinner food or “TV dinner”. The quality is definitely better than the standard grocery story package dinner but not too much of a difference to me. Also the sodium content is extremely high. Most meals are above the 40% recommended daily intake of sodium. So, yeah the ingredients may be better for you than fast food or junk food, but not the sodium content. Terrible for those who have high blood pressure. So, it’s ok as far as using time to time with busy weeks but not a service I would recommend using long term due to the high sodium..Version: 1.9.7

Bad experienceStarted off as a great app then they updated it to this hideous clunky thing and began to add meals that were nasty. Prices have gone up significantly but the food quality has not. Loaded with sodium. As for the service... Most recently I have encountered 3 weeks of back to back issues. The first week the delivery people dumped the box in the alley way behind my house and a neighbor had to notify me the next day it was back there - nothing at freshly told me it had arrived or where. The second week the delivery was delayed a day and then eventually never delivered at all. This was again repeated the following week with the same delay and then never shows up. Each time I chat with service reps they try to credit my account which ends up going toward the boxes of food that never arrive. And then when you contact them again the following week when your order fails again that credit is erased. So essentially they keep discounting boxes of food that never arrive... so you’re just stuck with a charge on your account and your money in limbo until you’re refunded and no food. Bad for those on a budget who forgo buying groceries for this pricy service that doesn’t seem to deliver..Version: 2.5.0

DisappointedWhy do you keep changing a meal that is well liked. I really like the sasuage a peppers meal but again your changing things. Cauliflower rice, not everyone like that. Yes healthier but add wild rice or brown rice. Then your sticking butternut squash in many meals too. Yuck, i am not a fan so now your limited my choices. When I started Freshly like 4 or 5 years ago, the meals were fantastic. For the last two years, I have very few choices I like now. And now you may bring back a favorite but you have changed it and it contains things I do not like to eat. You need to have a more balance of meals from the past that you are not changing and then some of these other meals that are new or you have changed. This meal plan has helped me lose weight but it is not going to work for me if I can only find three meals I like to eat for a 12 meal plan..Version: 2.6.0

Worst experience but had high hopesI’m just going to be very forward. I was extremely excited for my box. To the point where I didn’t even go grocery shopping, so I had very little food in the house. First and foremost I didn’t receive my referral discount but that’s not the focus of this review. When it came time for the delivery I received an email assuring me it was delivered. I WAS HOME. I looked outside and did not see a package. No one knocked no one rang. I waited the entire day in case it was marked delivered early. By 9 o clock that same night no package. I had spent over 100 dollars with no package. So now I’m out money and out food. I filed a claim with the delivery company who immediately told me to reach out to Freshly. Freshly said that the delivery company will investigate and contact me with information. Another frustrating point. Finally I was confronted with just getting a refund, which would be fine except yet again I still did not have any food! I’ve used many box services in the past and never had an issue. I live in a decent neighborhood and never had a package stolen. In fact I had other packages delivered that day that I received no problem. I feel cheated..Version: 2.7.0

AwfulI have had and canceled this service two separate times. As many have stated they started out great. At the beginning of the pandemic they began to mess up orders weekly. While they offer partial refunds in the form of a credit towards your account they never offer to refund your credit card or send the meals you’re missing. I canceled the service because they couldn’t get my order correct and seemed unconcerned. I chalked it up to high demand with the pandemic at the time. Fast forward about a year and I decide to give them another try. First couple weeks go great but I notice the portions seem smaller than before. Around week 4 or 5 I get a delivery that has none of the meals I ordered in it. I don’t complain as I’m going out of town and forgot to skip the service anyway. I skip the next two weeks and when my subscription resumes every order from then on is messed up. I order the bowls and get bison burgers or have meals swapped with lasagna that I didn’t order. I finally complain to freshly and they offer me a $15 credit to my account. I canceled that day and have already signed up with a competitor of theirs. I will not be going back. I do not recommend them to anyone..Version: 2.9.0

Freshly is like a box of ChocolatesFreshly has been like a box of Chocolates, you never know what you are going to get?!?! Some weeks my order is cancelled the day of or the day before I’m anticipating my food i am counting on to be delivered. This week I did not order any food, I skipped my week but I was charged for food I did not order. Some weeks food is delivered great! The food and temperature is at a safe level, then the following week my meals are delivered late, the meals look like they were delivered in bumper cars from a traveling festival and the ice jackets are warm. I have tried to reach customer service and from my experience it takes multiple attempts to reach them over the course of a few days. Again, when Freshly is paying attention I really appreciate the service but when it is off, I end up spending more time dealing with Freshly than I do just ordering take out. It’s a roll of the dice. I was offered $10 off a future purchase for 12 meals that were cancelled by Freshly. I hope the 3rd times the charm.
