✓ Less than perfectI love this game, but it’s incredibly annoying that you keep taking away turns in Daily Word Play. When I first downloaded the game, we had five chances to get to the 192 points score. At some point, that dropped four chances which did make it more challenging, but I could still on occasion succeed in getting that score without having to watch an ad. now in this latest version, you were giving us only three choices. That pretty much guarantees, I will be forced to watch an ad, since I would need to average more than 60 points in each word to hit that goal in three moves. I am still playing it, but only long enough to get my 45 points for my daily goal. I have given up on playing the entire game because I’m sick of being forced to watch the ads. In addition, this latest version seems to have a number of bugs. If I’m playing music on my Bluetooth speaker, when I open this game, the music turns off. When I am playing solo challenge games, it is not uncommon for the game to get stuck and just show a spinning circle on the challenger’s move. I have to exit the game and go back into it to get it “unstuck”. Fix these bugs and give me back a fourth attempt in Daily Wordplay, and I’ll go back to rating this game five stars!.DurhamMusicLoverVersion: 21.1.0

✓ ‘Banned’ in error, no avenue for appeal or area of ‘breach of TOS’ provided.After playing WWF for 12 years with no issues, I began experiencing an issue around 2 months ago where I was ‘banned’ after every app update. Zynga reinstated my account every time this occurred, saying it was a ‘technical issue’ that they were aware of and were investigating to find a permanent solution. After having this issue occur a number of times in the past week again after a period of time with no issues (again following an app update), Zynga now say my account has been reviewed and I have been permanently suspended due to a ‘breach of terms of service’. This decision is apparently final and I have no avenue for review, despite being told approximately 15 times previously that this was occurring due to a known technical issue. I have not been told which area of the TOS I have allegedly breached and could find no areas of concern when reviewing TOS in detail today. I have found a number of people online who have experienced a similar situation, and Apple appear unable or unwilling to act. I have previously also paid to remove ads, but no refund will be given, again due to TOS. I want this to be a warning to any WWF players. It’s so bloated with gamification outside the actual word games that it really detracts from the game play. We just want to play words with friends and don’t care about cheat moves, frames, stickers, playing word master or strangers. Those players less able to cope with new things just don’t okay any more. The game hitches constantly, making the team mode unplayable because it stutters so much in the time one move takes that everyone else has played 2 moves themselves. The chat is also completely broken and unusable. I added a friend that I played with on the original and it seems like it tried to port the chat from that over to this but all it has done is give both of us neverending notifications and all the messages sent are either replicated hundreds of times or flat out don’t go through. ✓ Great? If You Say So...I’ve been playing WWF for at least a decade, and written several favourable reviews. However, the longer I play it, the more unwanted “bells and whistles” are added, which totally spoil the game for me. After all, it’s basically Scrabble, and that’s all I wish to play. I don’t use the Coins and as far as I know I can’t swap them or give them away, and one can only have a maximum of 1500 Coins amassed. Well, I’ve had 1500 of those pests for... years. Yet, every day, at least once a day, I’m forced to tap “Great!” when I go up another tier, and “collect” another 6 or 8 coins which I don’t get even if I wanted them; if it were allowed I’d have at least 5000 of them. It’s bad enough that I’m accepting a “prize” I don’t want and can’t have, but the straw that’s broken this camel’s back is actually having to tap “GREAT!!” to exit the screen. However you need to play the challenges to gain coins and badges etc. Power Ups are very expensive and not worth the price. Too many adds and the asking price is utterly ridiculous and should jot cost $14/month to play when the game allows cheating which encourages you to spend money. If the computer opponents were actually using real words it would be a much better game. ✓ Good game but bugs are costly and weird strangersThe game in itself is good. I’ve been playing it for almost 10 years in and off. However, I recommend you don’t spend money on it. I recently bought the rewards pass and have missed out on getting a lot of the rewards because the app keeps bugging out and removing the pass altogether. I tried to contact support, did what they told me, and still got no fix or refund. There are a lot of glitches that cause you to have to spend coins twice. Through several updates, the issue has not been resolved. I spent money on the game because I love it but it’s just not worth the bugs. On top of that, there’s a scam issue when you play with male strangers. There are hundreds of fake profiles run by a bot. They try to talk to you excessively, hit on you, etc. They draw you in and later on ask for money. I only know all of that because I’ve read about it, but at first I had no idea why I was being hit on by creepy strange men. I don’t mind playing games with random users but there has to be some way WWF can weed out the bots.... the bots immediately resign games if you don’t continue chatting with them because they know they won’t get any scam money. ✓ Don’t waste money on coins.I’ve been playing since 2011 and noticed some things along the way. I’m finally irked enough to write a review. First off, most apps on here have a sole purpose and that is to make money for the developer and it seems to me like they use clever algorithms in order to achieve this with WWF. I always end up with all consonants or all vowels and then use a free swap that I’ve earned (you can purchase them as well) and then get more of the same essentially wasting your free swap. You might say that can happen in real life, but if you’ve played long enough you can almost predict it. I also know there are some games that I will statistically have no chance to win when all of the high value tiles go to your opponent. Again, just a pattern I’ve notice. I’ve also noticed that in the tile bag they always try to keep the consonants and vowels fairly even so I know it’s not random. Then in Quick Play where you need to have a ticket to play I would get glitches that to me seem like they are on purpose. For instance I started a game and could see my opponent already racking up points before the screen finished loading my screen to play. Sometimes I would use a ticket and it would take me back to the beginning screen and I would lose my ticket. I refuse to spend money on this app because I know it’s like playing Vegas. ✓ Good game, VERY POOR SUPPORT!!I’ve played this game for about 6 years and the game itself is great. Playing and able to chat to people all over the world is great!! Two MASSIVE downsides are the reliability of the app. My account as blocked multiple times, to the point it was unusable and had to delete it and start again. Allegedly blocked for inappropriate behaviour or breaking rules of conduct yet no one ever clarified what had been done just kept ending the conversation with no further explanation. Re-trying just means the message comes back even quicker than the first attempt. Sometimes re-booting will mean you get one shot at it, but if you then try and watch another one - same message all over again - ‘Duels’ - this used to be fun, but nowadays, at least once per session, when I try to advance to the next board, I just get thrown out of the game instead. I can play all of the mini-games and weekly challenges and still, it's extremely hard to make progress. The newer word flip mini games... again...playing all day (I usually have at least 20-25 games going) I can't finish all of them because I can't earn enough tokens for them. Everyhing seems so out of reach now. The weekly solo challenges - I used to be able to work hard and eventually beat them. Not anymore. Please hear me developers...it has to be at least somewhat satisfying to play...a player likes to feel like they are getting ahead at least sometimes...or where's the fun? After certain ads display the game sound stops so I have to close down the app then reopen it to get the sound back. I’ve had sessions where it’s taken me five seconds to have my shots, but only after spending thirty seconds claiming things. And the way it’s structured — talk about redundant. My home screen tells me there’s a reward to claim. Okay. I go do it. I go back to the home screen . Oh wait. There’s something else. And so on. And so on. The letter algorithm is appalling. How many times do you dispatch one or two letters and get the exact the same ones back? With odds like this, I’d win big in Vegas. But what peeves me most is how it makes levels more difficult in Solo Challenge. As you go up the levels, your opponent will always have the exact letters they need. If a word has stopped just short of a DW or TW, don’t worry, they’ll have an S (or whatever they need) to capitalise 90% of the time. Meanwhile, for four of your shots it’ll do something like give you six vowels — letter combinations that NOBODY can make words from. That’s how you increase difficulty, is it? ✓ A bit annoyedI’ve been playing this game since 2014 and I loved it .. however when I watch ads to get tokens, I am rarely getting the full 30 coins allocated per day. I never had issues before but everyday now for the last 4 months I received 18 out of 30 each day because of 2 ads ( Fishdom and Gardenscapes) which btw take more than 3 minutes just trying to exit . It’s completely frustrating and time consuming and shouldn’t take longer than the average 5 minutes it takes to watch all 10 ads. ✓ Too many bots and nude sellersToo many bots (Google it), too many players trying to sell you nude photos, and too many crashes for a supposedly mature game. Update after developer response: the problem is that whilst I’m open to challenges you don’t know if the challenger is going to offer you nude photos until after you’ve accepted the challenge. Last week I had about 10 approaches like this, and reported them all. But it means I’ve played lots of half games after which the nude seller then blocks me = wasted time and disappointing game play. Why don’t you disable chat from new players (nude sellers seem to be brand new players) until they’ve played 50 games and got a decent average game score. Or alternatively give players the chance to only receive challenges from players above various criteria that I can set, eg years playing, number of games played, avg game score, avg word score, etc. That might reduce the numbers. Needs to be better than how it is now. Further comment: the achievement rewards can’t be collected due to bugs. Another thing the game notifications of waiting games is way off. Today it indicated I had 28 games waiting to play, and there were none. ✓ This game is using bots masquerading as real peopleI have just discovered that if the ‘person’ who invites you to play has a picture, either of an attractive person or a cute pet accompanied by the words ‘no location’ the chances are very high that you are playing a robot. If Zynga is offering you a bot masquerading as a ‘friend’ whom you assume to be a genuine human being, then this is wilful deception and as such is breach of trade description regulations. I enjoy WWF but am now looking for an alternative app which does not engage in such deliberately dishonest practices. ✓ Paid for no ads, but that’s not enough?Having played this game since the first iteration, I had no qualms in paying for the ad-free version. The new features of displaying your word strength and tools like Word Radar, Hindsight and Swap+ are good hint tools. I don't even mind too much about the earning of coins to “purchase” these tools-I’ll leave others to in-app purchase coins without it intruding on playing. What I do resent is the Solo challenge that seems to “accidentally” scroll down to the opponent you have just defeated, putting them front and centre instead of moving to the next opponent. If you don’t want to waste your coins on playing the same opponent again (or time if you wait for the free play opportunity like I do), you have to be especially mindful of this “bug” (a ploy to get you to spend/waste coins, sneakily). The biggest irritation is the daily play coin reward screen-what was a simple few coins for playing each day now becomes a “get coins for watching a video ad” banner that doesn’t let you dismiss for some period of time. ✓ Progressively worseThis game used to be fun. Scrabble is fun. Just by itself. But apparently the geniuses behind WWF2 thought they could make it even better. So they destroyed it. There is so much extraneous garbage that it takes 10-20 seconds to load the board every time I switch to the game. I’m not talking about opening it from closed. The app is a disaster and I read reviews and saw that many players feel the same way. It doesn’t deserve even a one star rating. Nothing but ads that freeze requiring me to power off to get back to the game, lightning round games that disappear during the game, all the additional games, having to purchase coins, etc. It’s ridiculous and I’m glad I deleted it. ✓ What have you done!!Really, really hate what they’ve just done to this game. The latest update, November 2023, has introduced lots of stupid, unnecessary and annoying changes to the game. For a start, the appearance of the board now looks like a large print child’s book, secondly, the useful option to decide whether you definitely wanted to play a word or cancel has gone, thirdly, when you score a certain amount, say 20 points, a stupid logo flashes up and dances in the middle of the screen to tell you, along with other dumb messages that keep popping up such as the one to helpfully inform you that if you score the most points in the game…guess what, you’ll win !! Another new and particularly irritating feature is that very often the letter tile you are trying to play keeps pinging back to the bottom of the screen each time you try to place it!! The videos load inconsistently, and when they do not load it takes away one of the allowed views therefore taking away a chance to earn tickets to play word masters or earn trophy points in the teams and you have the wait for another day for the opportunity to watch videos to earn these again. When playing lightning rounds the game can just suddenly drop out and sometimes you might be able to go back to rejoin your team but not always. ✓ Unresponsive Customer ServiceIn response to a one-star rating I gave them over a technical issue which caused me not to advance up the ladder in a game which was a month of playing and spending money on diamonds to play the game, their response was, “I hate to say this but further responses regarding this concern may be treated as spam and may get deleted by the system. “. This is their response to a VIP player, their term not mine, after closing out a customer service question and then immediately sending me a “how we doing” text and asking me to rate them one to five stars with a space for comments. I rated them one star and gave comments. I never asked them to send me the rating text and then they have the temerity to say in response that I’m spamming them is outrageous. FYI: most of my 200 friends around the world are removing this game from their devices based on your user-unfriendly customer service who view customers as a source of spam for making inquiries. Back to the solo challenges whoever is playing for Zynga is really good. I mean if they need an S an X or a Q they always have it they never have to swap their letters. Once, I decided to start a practice game and it glitched out so now I have no way of accessing it which means I can’t resign to fix the problem and I can’t make a new practice game either. Another time, I decided to play a game with a random person and for some reason, they added them to my friends list. But I didn’t search for their user name. I used the create game and pressed smart match. This would theoretically be in my game list, and I would have one match with them, and never see them again. If I play all the games (keep hitting Next Game til there is no more Next Game) then minimise the app, only to find a number on the app icon indicating there’s a game or two to play. I can play using some bogus US ‘games dictionary’ that has plenty of non-words, and plenty of words that are valid (to use in the game) but have no listed meaning. I can choose British English - which is a different set of valid words, but has no listed meanings. But I can’t choose from various dictionaries that a freely available to other iphone apps. ✓ Aggravated!!I’ve been playing this game for over 12 years now. It was so much fun for many years, however as they continue to update every time you turn around it’s become a headache to play. ✓ Where is the love?!Let’s take a step back and look at this so called rewards system Zynga have implemented. First they decimated the daily reward and now give us two coins a day. They removed the coins for winning a match. Then they increased the price of the power ups by nearly 1000%. On top of that they continue to increase the weekly challenge to impossible levels for the average player. They originally gave us a decent reward system and then took it away under the guise of a fancy new Words 2, to which we basically cajoled into shifting to. The reward system from the previous iteration vanished without any warning. I suggest you ease up the cost of the power ups. Similar to what they used to be. Increase the daily rewards: having to press ‘Great’ to accept 2 coins is quite simply demeaning. And bring back a decent reward for winning a game, perhaps even implement a streak system. Unfortunately the developers have decided to throw ads into every possible part of the game - I’ve even had a move interrupted because an ad has popped up, and a timed move ran out of time because of an ad. Some of the ads - such as the current ad for Royal Match, for example - are almost impossible to close down and if you can close it you’re directed immediately to an App Store to download it; when you cancel, you’re back on the ad screen and you can’t get rid of it. Ultimately the only way to keep the game going is to shut it down, make sure it’s not running, then open it again. It’s really annoying. Essentially it seems that they want to annoy people enough that they can sell the ad-free packages and make more money. ✓ Quick play games steal your ticketsI recently started to play the quick play games, there are many issues with them. Sometimes they just freeze up and other times there are glitches. For example, you play the quick game to 150 points, then you start to play a second game and the results from the first game pop up and take your ticket for the second game. The only way to play again is to buy tickets so this lines the pockets of the game owners. You only get one ticket every two hours so if the game doesn’t work right you lose your ticket. I have complained multiple times about this and sometimes they give me some coins or something but I would prefer that the game would just work right. I just waited two hours for my free ticket and the game froze up, lost my ticket AGAIN. This happens to me like once a day and I have great internet speed. Post script, subsequent to my initial review, the app allowed for up to five tickets presumably because the game performance was so terrible. I am talking about the Quickplay to 150 points. Just this week, they scaled back and now they only give you ONLY TWO tickets every two hours that is the max, so ridiculously cheap it’s not even funny. I guess this is all about money. ✓ Apple Pencil with iOS14 UpdateI always play Words with Friends 2 with my Apple Pencil on my iPad. I use it to scroll through the game and move tiles. However, With the new update to iOS 14, the app will not allow me to use the pencil to grab tiles once I open a game. Instead, now the pencil just scribbles all over the game board and there is no option to turn this off. I don’t need to scribble on a scrabble game board, it’s not a coloring page. It is pointless. So far, all other apps I’ve opened work fine with the pencil. Please fix to still allow the pencil to also be used to play the game by scrolling and grabbing tiles, not just as a drawing tool. Other issues I have is if you use a Word Radar and then leave that board, when you return the game closes the “radar” and then makes you “buy” another radar. They didn’t use to do this and it seems petty. Also, I like that that they allow you to change the game tile within each individual game. However, in one of my games it keeps reverting to this one game tile that I hate. Not only that, I will regularly get repeating games where I’ll draw 95% vowels only, or 5 “I’s”, to do this once is coincidence, but to do it consistently over a 10-15 game period is not. I also find that the only way to break these cycles is to lose a game. It’s like the game developers are punishing you for being good enough not to have to spend money to progress in the game. I turned off sounds immediately but feel denied that satisfying sound (which hasn’t changed) when the word strength is high. - the old board had shadow contrast that created 3D depth to the board. Underneath that there are suggestions for random strangers for you to play. There have been times where I missed that it was my turn in the one game I’m playing for over a day because there’s so much going on that I just couldn’t see our game in the menu and see that it was my turn. Then there are “tips” where the app wants you to know about a feature. Sometimes it’s hints, or a new thing that you can earn points for for whatever, but they are impossible to exit out of without agreeing to do the thing, which is really obnoxious. There have also been times where I’ve been forced to go into some new section of the app that I’m not interested and couldn’t figure out how to get back to the main screen, and has to just close the app and reopen it. This has got to be one of the most overwhelming, obnoxious apps I’ve ever used. The only reason I didn’t delete it immediately is because my friend who I never get to see really wanted to play scrabble, and we used to play in this app when it was new and less insane. Even when the advert works, the advertisers use BS tricks to try to get you to click through. These 3rd party adverts are degrading YOUR customer's experience on your app. 1. There needs to be a clear countdown to when the reward will be given. 2. A *standardised*, obvious option to close the advert when it's finished. 3. ✓ Extremely Over-gamifiedI spend way more time trying to plow through the constant junk than I do actually playing and enjoying the game. If it’s not external ads it’s internal ads relentlessly badgering me. I don’t need 100 features at 100 mph to enjoy this game. Remember, this game was made iconic by a board game. A BOARD GAME. You are holding lovers of the original game hostage with how you’ve butchered this game. This game should NOT feel like a Casino. And what you charge for removing ads is insane! ✓ Why are random people sending me games?!?I hate this app these days. Why am I showing up as an option for random people to send me requests. I only want to play my friends and family, yet I'm being forced to decline random people's invites on a daily basis which is annoying. Why the heck can't I choose an option to not show up in random people's potential opponents if I don't want to. It's so frustrating. I'm deleting the app forever or until the option to not get invites from random people is is established. These people aren't choosing me out of no where, Zynga/WWF has recently some something that makes me appear for random people because I've never had a random game pop up in nearly 8 years, yet in the last month it's happened like 20 times.
