EV Connect for Negative User Reviews

Works but needs improvementI’ve been to a variety of charging stations and this is one of the most difficult machines to “get to the final step” as in charging the car. I would recommend removing the START button on the machine. ChargeHub I can plug in my car and using the app, start charging my vehicle. I’ll still use your charging stations. Thank you.Version: 3.3.1

Do not use this app in Canada! The app will work, but you’ll be charged in $US, so you pay a 38% premium. Use the EV Connect Canada app or a credit card if you prefer not to be ripped off..Version: 3.12.3

Customer service is poorThe chargers are quick and seem adequate I’ve had to call customer service twice when the chargers at a particular location are not working and the representatives are difficult to understand and they get quite impatient when you try to ask questions..Version: 3.14.0

So soTakes the app too long to start your charging session! The price for the charging is high as well but when u have to charge your car u gotta do what u gotta do. Seems not to charge car fast but once charging is done the charge lasts a pretty good while. Need to do some bug fixes with the app..Version: 3.2.1

Convenient.. but VERY expensiveI live in a smaller town in Kentucky, the amount of public chargers in my area are few and far between. I was SO excited when I found out my town had a DC fast charger. I didn’t even mind that it was only a 50kw charger, I was just happy and thankful to have a faster charger in my area. Unfortunately, after a few charging sessions, I have come to find out the rate on this thing is way too much, especially considering I’m in a smaller town in Kentucky. The rate is an automatic $3 just for plugging in, then an additional $.25 per kWh This is insane to me considering I can drive to an Electrify America charger that’s in a large city an hour from me.. plug into a 90kw charger and pay $.19 per minute. I cant help but feel like this charger is taking advantage of a smaller town with fewer public charging options.. sadly I live in an apartment and rely on public charging frequently. Maybe it’ll change one day..Version: 3.14.0

Subpar app , compliant junk chargerThe app is ok but it seems sloppy and thrown together, the button to pick the payment is so far down on the bottom I can only see about the top 2% of the button and there is no way to scroll down to show it at least on my iPhone 12 so you are stuck trying to press a 0.5mm line of a button I can barley activate it by holding my finger on the bottom edge of the screen of my phone. The tritium charger it’s self was broke for over 9 months and now that it has been “fixed” it half works. Sadly you can only charge through the app , You can not use the payment hub or buttons on the charger it’s self it throughs error codes if you try, and like I mentioned the app it’s self is sloppy and not user friendly Over all not a very good product or service I would avoid if possible I prefer ChargePoint.Version: 3.12.3

Problematic to say the leastI tried to use this app at a local Ev Connect plug—each time the machine reported ‘an error has occurred’ but without any detail about the error. I fiddled with the app for a while: I reentered my credit card info (even though the plug was free) and that all other login info etc. etc. was correct. Reentered. Confirmed. ‘An error has occurred.’ I remembered that I had a tiny EV Connect key fob for which I had paid $7.50. I scanned it at the plug: ‘an error has occurred.’ I opened the app again, found the setting where fobs are linked, deleted it, then relinked to through the app. Just for kicks, tried the app again: ‘…error…’ Tried the re-linked fob: actually worked. In short: the app doesn’t work; but relinking my fob did actually work. Frustrating, useless error messages..Version: 3.1.1

Poor product with poor serviceToday, I went to three different stations. All didn’t work or had an issue. Customer service was pretty bad. Charging is over priced for low KW. Would be faster to charge it in a wall at home. Will make the drive to a proper Tesla charger moving forward and removing the app. We own 12 gas stations in the tri-state area. We considered reaching out to these guys to put them in our stations but trying them out today it was ridiculous. You guys, just go direct to Tesla. Just a waste..Version: 3.12.3

Usually great but poor maintenanceOur station here has been great to have. However it’s been really frustrating to know of many many people calling in the second (defective) port and nothing ever happens to get it fixed. These two ports are the only ones in a large area of increasing numbers of EVs (and annoying Tesla drivers who prefer to hog this one to the 15 (!) dedicated Tesla only stations a few miles up the road). When can we see results here? It’s been MONTHS!.Version: 3.6.0

Communication problemsWorst charging experience I’ve had. Constant communication error. Help desk was absolutely worthless; foreign and not aware of what is at this site ( Goldfield NV). I finally plugged into an AC unit 205 V, which meant I’d have to wait 5 hours for sufficient charge to get to the next station. Then I got the idea to hit the emergency stop button on the DC unit and restart it. I went back to that unit, plugged in and seamlessly started charging..Version: 3.11.1

Plug In and Cross Your FingersI use the chargers at a County-run parking lot at a train station. Plugging in and starting the charging is rarely a problem. However, not all the chargers work all of the time. And it’s not always the same ones that have the issues. The problem is that the chargers start but after only five or ten minutes they shut off, by which time you’re on the train or the train is about to come in and there’s nothing to do about it. Trying to restart charging remotely doesn’t work and, if customer service gets back to you, it’s weeks later..Version: 3.12.3

Great, IF it worksThis site has been very temperamental. It didn’t work on several days. My calls to tech support were useless. They took up a lot of my time, but couldn’t fix anything. It was extremely inconvenient and a major annoyance, which ruined several days, staying at this hotel..Version: 3.12.3
