✓ Good improvements latelyFinally downloaded this new version now that some of the “issues” earlier reviews had have been fixed (zoom and 2d mode). Overall my family feels this plays well and we have not gone back to the old version, except for the main reason we are giving it 4 stars and not 5.... My wife LOVED the solitaire mode of the old app which is missing in this new version. The only other issue is when we play as a family, the player color does not seem to stick. For example, I am always green, my wife is always yellow, and my son is always blue. If I start the game I am green but the two of them end up being some random color. If my wife starts the game she is always yellow but then my son and I end up being a random color. Not a huge deal but after playing the physical version that way for almost a decade it’s a little hard to remember that you were a different color. Other than that, we are really enjoying the game and think the app is worth the time and money..Version: 1.9
✓ Love it. Where is Abbey and Mayors expansion!I think this plays really well and is intuitive. I really would like to see the Abbey and Mayor expansion here. This is my favorite expansion and not sure why I cannot purchase it amongst some of the others. Thanks for considering..Version: 1.10.2967

✓ Awesome but not currently workingUp until a few weeks ago, this game was working great except it has been recently not letting me play. I have to log in each time and when I open the app to make my move, it it makes me log in each time and it just shows the tiles and no option for me to finish my turn. I hope this gets resolved soon so I can resume playing one of my favourite games. When working this game is awesome and looks great!.Version: 1.9
✓ I really like thisI’ve not played the original iPad version of this and put off buying this version on three occasions because of the bad reviews. I eventually thought I’d risk it though and I really like it. It’s easy to navigate round the screen and I don’t find playing against an AI slow. I’ve not tried online or multi player yet but I’m enjoying solo games and the tutorial was clear and got me started. I don’t find the 3D view a problem and I like that you can toggle the view to see what fields you control. Am completely happy with my purchase and am glad I bought it..Version: 1.0

✓ Not that badI have played this version on my pc while playing the former iOS game on my iPad and iPhone. I have always preferred this game to the other, and I was looking forward to its release in the App Store. I know everyone has their own preferences, but I don’t think this game is as bad as many of the reviews indicate. ✓ Dragon and fairy vision need some adjustDragon vision need some adjust Fairy is taken too slow by the players Almost 70% rounds, players tend to move the fairy, and this move nearly takes 7 seconds.... It's really make me fall asleep and lose the interest. Can you make the fairy move faster? My suggestion is within 3 seconds. Thanks 17/6/2021 Wow, this update is exactly what i want. ✓ Lovely gameLovely app and lovely game, really enjoying it! It would be awesome if the developers could add an optional vibrate feature so it buzzes when it’s your turn to play....? I find it’s easy to get distracted or frustrated if another player’s taking long to then find that it became your turn when you were looking away!.Version: 1.9
✓ Nice but could be betterThis works great for pass and play and I like the possibility of switching from 2D to 3D although I don’t see the use of 3D in this game. I currently cannot finish a solo play game (on the final tile) as it keeps saying “connection lost” and kicks me out of the game. So this bug needs fixing..Version: 1.0
✓ Never played it before butI never played this game until buying it but find it very good. One thing I experienced today was playing online with someone using the builders and traders expansion and they went -1 with their builder…how is this even possible… Shortly after the person stopped playing so not sure if it crashed on them.Version: 1.10.2967

✓ I think it’s a lot of funThis is a great game though I don’t think end game scoring of roads is correct. Sometimes it gives one point per incomplete other times the incomplete road scores 0. Can’t figure out a pattern. Other than that - great game. 5 stars once the road scoring Is fixed. Another nit. I bought all expansions. But winter is a waste. It limits the game to only that version. ✓ Getting too harsh of reviewsLots of reviews are pretty harsh for a game that works pretty well, is a good adaptation, and looks decent. I’ve been playing single player and online with family and enjoyed both. Yes there is room for improvement but give them a chance to address the issues. Pros - good adaptation of actual game, intuitive interface, overall good art, AI keeps single player interesting, you can play with your friends online, you can set time limits such that playing with friends can essentially be turn based so games can go over many days, features like showing fields and tiles left is fun, seems only host of online game needs expansions for everyone to play expansion Cons - needs a recap feature because if you aren’t online at the end you can’t see how an online game ended, the chat in online play disappears every time you leave so you can’t have a dialogue, sometimes takes a moment to connect or disconnects but not terribly so, wish you could turn specific features in expansions on and off (e.g. use builder but not pig or just use tiles from expansions but not other mechanics), can only add friends to friends list if they are online. Overall I’ve enjoyed both the single and online play. Absolutely worth the cost if you enjoy the board game..Version: 1.0
✓ Different but goodIt takes awhile to get used to this version of Carcassonne. Yes it’s a bit more animated, and definitely not as esoteric or pure as the original. But it’s very nice once you get used to it. I can understand why they recharge for expansions, after all it’s a very different work. Open your mind and try it for awhile; give it a chance. I’ve only used solo playing against AI so cannot attest to online play..Version: 1.0
✓ Good… but I’m not buying the expansions yet againIt’s a fine implementation of an excellent game. I personally don’t like the 3D effect, but you can turn that off. And the option to see the fields highlighted is very useful. The only thing stopping me giving five stars is that even though I’ve already bought all the expansions on the PC version of the game (which, to be clear, is identical), and even though I’m signed in with the same Asmodee account in both cases, the expansions don’t get shared between the two versions of the game. I’ve already bought the expansions three times: once for the physical games, once on PC, and once on the sadly defunct Coding Monkeys version, and have no intention of buying them a fourth..Version: 1.10.2966

✓ Great gameplay!We love the board game and the app didn’t disappoint! I never played the old app so I can’t compare the two but I think this one plays great. ✓ Very good (but a badly rendered river!)A great fun version of the game, especially online against friends. However, I bought the river expansion and those tiles are very crudely rendered with very jagged edges. Very little care taken which is a shame. It feels like it was just knocked out knowing that fans of the game would pay for it - cheeky! Hopefully in a future update they will get someone to redesign the river tiles to a quality more in keeping with the rest of the game (or offer the river expansion for free!)..Version: 1.9

✓ Excellent new version with minor issuesI was unsure at first but I’ve actually grown to prefer this to the old version. One thing missing that the previous version had is the ability to add a move time limit to the online game as some cheats just refuse to move when they are losing and try to force you to leave the game. Also an In game portrait view for when the tiles have gone in the vertical direction would be good. With the latest update they have listened to a lot of requests inc putting an outline around the meeples, yellow especially, so you can see them more clearly. Well done, this is now very nearly a 5 star game. ** the official single player rules have now been released by the creators of the board game. ✓ Works great. Lots of fun. Pretty layout.I think many reviews here are bitter about a previous app which no longer exists. I started playing table top Carcassone last week for the first time. Then bought the app a day later. I don’t know the old app. But this one is good and worth paying a couple of dollars for. You can play against a very good AI, the last one of the four is very tough (at least for me) - the others easier. You can play online against other players which also worked well for me. I didn’t notice any lag as some complained about. A brief tutorial for the first time player might be helpful when facing other humans. I’m still not sure what the icons in the game selection menu really mean and I have no idea what the ranking points are and how to gain or lose them. I’m also not sure if those games or with abbot and river or just standard. I didn’t buy any of the other expansions yet. In sum, I like it. I almost wouldn’t have bought it because of the reviews. But they seem to be more about other stuff than the app itself..Version: 1.0

I’ve purchased a lot of the add-ons that make the game even better. I mostly play 2 player in a private lobby. ✓ Good to practice the gameGood app to play the base game against a computer with decent AI at high speed. Also good features are the field dominance display, and the ability to switch to 2D move and to opt in to certain options like seeing the remaining tiles or when a space is unfillable. The scoring is done nicely. You can improve your game with practice because you don’t have to wait for an opponent to think their move. However, I don’t like that the developer put in a cart icon and also a link to their other games directly in the app's main menu. Also, it can be confusing to still see your opponent's tile displayed in the corner in the first fraction of a second when your turn starts. And the 3D view is a tad overdone with a millions flags put up when a city is finished, and the meeples bouncing around all the time. Altogether a good app for practicing your Carcassonne game..Version: 1.10.2967
