Speechify Text to Speech Audio for Positive User Reviews

Good app but…This is an amazing app, I began using it and I immediately loved it. But there’s something that doesn’t really sit with me, the fact that an notification for the premium version keeps showing up annoys me quite a bit. It stops whatever I was listening to. But overall, this app is excellent.Version: 2.16.2

Really helpfulAs a partially sighted person I find this app really helpful and highly recommend.Version: 1.9.15

Thanks for the appIf you ever decide to create a pro version with more feature I’m more than happy to pay. I’m actually surprised that that this app is free. Thanks.Version: 1.9.25

WowI thought this whole app wouldn’t work. I watched the add all the time through instagram. I thought I will give it a go… then.. wow. This works, the only problem is that it is somewhat hard to take a picture of the pages in a book and crop it nicely. Either than that, this is a great app. Increases speed of reading and I could study more relaxing..Version: 2.20.2

Speechify it reads my books so I don’t have to.Granted it’s a bit pricey but after trying other methods of text to speech (& finding them such hard work to listen to that I gave up) I’m going to treat myself and have this year of having my books & newspapers etc read to me. I’m 60 yrs old & not in great health, just holding a book for a length of time is surprisingly painful, using a book stand is just dreadful & having to keep moving to turn the pages…not good. So thanks to Cliff, I’m going to be able to enjoy all my reading time from now on & it wont hurt a bit!.Version: 2.19.8

Never Reading An Article On My Own Again....This was my first time using the app, it can be hard for me to read because of my neuro-divergence and this app worked wonderfully for me. I tried to read an article that I was really interested in by myself three times and could not get through it. So I search text to speech apps, found this and I just finished the article. I am so thrilled to have read it and I retained the information. Now I am formulating my thoughts on the article and I figured I would come over and rate the app because it was really wonderful for me!! The narration (or text to speech) was very realistic, it was not super choppy or very “AI- ish”. It pronounced everything very well even things I thought it would mess up ... this article I just read would be a doozy for most text to speech apps and this one BREEZED right through. I LOVE the MULTIPLE playback speeds, as I could change it for an article that I want to pay closer attention too, I can slow it down even more. I also really appreciated the sentence being highlighted and the current word being double highlighted, it really helped me focus!! Cliff really put tremendous thought into this app and it shows. I think I might even pay for the premium sub to get the narrators voice ...I really liked him LOL..Version: 2.4.6

FINALLY! A Ukrainian Voice!!! Fabulous customer service! The best thing about speechify is that it’s as powerful as your plans to use it. I used to adore reading books and articles but as someone who is an artist, my eyeballs are occupied on other things. One thing that Speechify is underrated for is its powerful ability to help you learn other languages without sounding robotic (many tts language learning voices are really bad). My story with Speechify involves talking to their customer service about my needs (A Ukrainian voice) and a few suggestions for improving the app. Their customer service was excellent and receptive, they’re real human beings with a desire to improve this app for everyone- they were understanding of why a Ukrainian voice specifically was important (other slavic languages cannot make sounds present in Ukrainian). The Ukrainian voice is melodic just as the language is meant to be spoken, helping me learn how to speak and understand the language better. I got what I wanted! When they reached out to me for a review I promised them I would write one if they gave me a Ukrainian voice. They did and my life is going to get a whole lot easier, the ability to slow things down so my brain can process a language it’s not entirely used to hearing along with the melody and emphasis- very important in this language. Thank you for listening, Speechify. You’re the only natural reader that has what I need and actually listened to me - thank you!.Version: 2.22.5

Wish I new about this app sooner! As someone who’s a slow reader / dyslexic, I started a new course which had lots of reading in a short period of time! This app saved my life, i was able to listen on the move and listen to things again if I needed to recap. I loved the search function where you could find certain words which helped me when I was prepping my answers. However it can be sensitive when taking pictures of text - make sure you crop all the unnecessary parts out for example - pictures with text within (eg road signs, number plates or similar) it will pick this up and input it randomly within the texts!.Version: 2.13

Awesome customer service team!I had a couple incidents where i was totally at fault but Ian from customer support was amazing!!! super patient thoughtful and helpful just a delight to work with. I wish more people could be like Ian!! awesome app will continue to use.Version: 2.27.6

A must have for book loversThis year I listened to my first audio book and I loved it. There are so many times during the day when I would listen to my book; while doing the ton of dishes in the sink, cleaning, cooking, etc. After I finished my book and continued my daily chores without having it, I realized how much I missed it and how much of my brain function wasn’t being used anymore like it was. All this extra time during my day could be spent enriching my mind instead of just staring at the wall in front of me while doing my dishes for an hour lol I have a few books I keep putting off because of the time it takes to sit down and read them. I still take my time to sit and read which is very therapeutic, but having it in my ear whenever I wanted was something I wanted back. I saw an add on instagram about this app and I clicked so quick! It took just a couple minutes to take pictures of my book pages and it’s like magic! It’s easy to do, you can customize the voices, reading speed, etc. Usually when I download a new app I’m skeptical but I’m blown away by this. My wish has come true lol.Version: 2.19.0

Audible or Speechify?I spent hours comparing text to speech apps, and by far, Speechify has some of the best premium HD voices. I even considered dropping Audible, so that I could pay for an unlimited amount of HD voice listening time; however, while the HD voices are great, they’re not reliable enough for me to consider them as a replacement for Audible just yet. At times, they’re slow to load or glitchy. I wasted a good 200 or so words listening to Gwyneth lisp her way through sentences as if she was lapsing into a different language. I fiddled with her speech rate trying to remedy the problem, but it was to no avail. I had to switch to Michael. Michael read through everything perfectly, but he too had trouble staying on task. Even though I had plenty of of HD listening words left, he would intermittently cut out and be replaced by the British Male speaking voice. With all things considered, this is an app worthy of downloading. It does a respectable job transferring words from pictures—better than most. Sometimes, to my astonishment, it can read my handwriting. It hasn’t crashed, and apart from the HD voices, the standard voices seem quite reliable. I like that I can earn HD words the more I listen, and that there’s enough to stay entertained with in the free version. With a bit more perfecting, Audible might find itself facing the boot in favor of this nifty little app. For now, Audible is safe from the chopping block..Version: 2.18.5

This has helped me SO much!As a dyslexic college student, drowning in the required readings and endless emails thrust upon pupils I have found myself trying anything and everything to increase my comprehension and reading speed. I simply don’t have time to reread a medical review 500 times as my brain unyieldingly demands! This app has been a savior to my grades, comprehension, confidence, and has boosted my craving for reading and knowledge! I would recommend this to anyone and everyone! Also, you can put books, yes real actual books you read for entertainment, into the app and create your own audiobooks! This app hasn’t only helped me in my college life, it has gotten me back to reading again! Love it!! The only negative thing I would say about this app is the premium version is EXPENSIVE. I tried it out to get a voice more personable and engaging but I found the cost more than I could justify. I love the premium voices (especially Harry!!) but as a broke college kid I just can’t afford it. Would you maybe consider making a free voice that is a little less monotonous? Maybe y’all could make Harry free? Yes, the latter request is a bit far reaching but it was worth a shot😅. Anyway - love the app and would recommend time and time again!!.Version: 2.18.4

SoMan the snoop voice is off the chain.Version: 2.23.9

Pricing better directThe pricing is a mine field on the apple store. I was originally very upset because there was a huge difference between the pricing on the iOS App Store and the speechify website. Also trial was 3 days on apple but 7 days on their website. Also apple store tried to charge me the full higher price only 2 days into my 3 day free trial. Luckily my bank spotted the high hit (£134) for an App Store payment and automatically blocked it (big thanks to the bank) I had a discussion then with the people from Speechify who explained the problem with App Store - encouraged me to go direct and even gave me a better discount for my first year because of all the hassle caused. I am a postgrad student writing a dissertation so I have to chew my way through a lot of books and academic journals - this is a life saver for me. So it was a bad start but the people at Speechify worked really hard to put it right so great customer service and a great app. Don’t sign up on App Store - go direct on the speechify site for the best deal..Version: 2.18.1

Fabulous conceptI am too poor to pay the fee to buy the upgraded HD voices but I am saving for it anyway because I love this app! So sad I found it in my last week of University when I couldn’t use it to get through my readings quicker. Some of them were an absolute slog through the mud uphill and this would have made all the difference..Version: 2.28.4

Grateful, grateful, grateful! Thank you!I am SO grateful there is FINALLY a app that is capable of reading out loud for me! With ADHD, Anxiety, and learning disabilities I struggle with just getting though a page, and I love to collect books and as much information as possible with ALL the good intentions possible to read and grow! I beat myself up for buy all the things I do (reading wise) bc I struggle with getting that time and focus long enough to read. Being a single momma of three kids ages 12,6,&5 and a fur mama of a cat and dog, I am very busy. Being able to hear the information of topics I am super interested in is LIFE CHANGING! I love my audiobooks! But when wanting to read websites (just finally was able to listen/read about CBT for ADHD on a website by copy and pasting the url! Life changing!), college text books (haven’t tried this feature just yet but I plan to soon) and I am looking forward to being able to have my email read about my kids endless school stuff! I have been searching for YEARS now for something that could help me and hands down this is what I have needed! Thank you for creating this app. Also keeping this app’s add on features at a reasonable price! I will be doing the add on for the speed preference and I want to support someone who created something so user friendly and for those like me who want to grow and yet are stuck and struggle with all the personal stuff that keeps us from growing! Thank you!.Version: 2.8.0

This app has changed my life.As a young child I used to hate reading out loud purely because I thought I was to slow but thanks to the help of Speachify that’s finally. This app has also made it easier to spot spelling and grammatical errors, by allowing me to slow down the speaking rate. What also sets this app apart from other offerings in the same category is that as well as being able hear what’s being read out I can see I follow along on screen. Not to mention it also comes with a safari extension meaning can not just have important documents and textbooks read out but also wordy web pages without opening the app. Do if you’re someone who’s also struggled with reading or a GCSE or A-level student you should download this app because it will make your life easier..Version: 2.19.5

WOW!So helpful with ADHD. It tells you how many minutes it’ll take to read, taking away SO much of the intimidation I get from having to read anything. Pause at any time. It highlights the full sentence it’s on and follows along word-by-word “double highlighted.” It allows for dark mode. Love that for my light sensitivity! Tap the word you want it to start reading at if you’re skipping around. It’ll do exactly what you ask it to do. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good. I scanned two pages of my textbook. It even got the fine print and didn’t skip around to different paragraphs in a dumb way—even though the margins and pictures are designed in an awful way even for a human to read (thanks, dear engineers too cheap or stupid to hire real graphic designers with typography skills). It even read “g/mm^3” as “grams per cubic millimeter,” not “g slash m m carrot 3.” To top it off, the voice isn’t entirely annoying. The best automated voice imo, and believe me I’ve tried a ton. Maybe you can change the voice, but idk bc I just started playing with the app. Now I’m writing this review when I should be reading my textbook. Anyway, go ahead and download this app if you’re even on this page considering it—which ofc you are if you’re reading this rn. Good day. Edit—a few minutes later 🙃: Yes, you can change the voice. There are MANY to choose from! Excited to try them..Version: 2.18.5

Best App I have downloadedThis app has been so useful to me. I use it to read books to me for school that I can't keep up with or the ones that just put me to sleep! This is literally life changing for me! Thank you and I would recommend downloading..Version: 1.9.6

Just what I neededI have a medical condition and take medication that makes my reading very slow, and I often spontaneously fall asleep while reading. By listening, I can read more quickly, comprehend more, and can listen even when closing my eyes. It also takes much less effort. Highlighting the words or lines I’m up to is one of my favourite features of this app, along with speed of listening and word count. However, points of improvement include smoother running in general. Software problems frequently arise, but I am noticing the developer is fixing those quite quickly and improving the app. So overall, it’s helpful enough to me I use it for basically everything I read. Just what I needed. Thanks!.Version: 2.3.5

Life changingExcellent! I wish I had done this years ago! So helpful when having to research ideas, read a lot of boring board papers, take notes - Holy moley it’s a new world - I am actually excited about learning and knew knowledge again!.Version: 2.21.8

Life changerI’ve struggled with reading my whole life due to eye problems. It’s affected my education and eventually my life choices. I have an upcoming retreat I am going to that I know involves a lot of reading. I was originally going to ask the host to try to come up with an alternative but now I’ll be able to sort the issue myself. This app will give me so much confidence and independence. I’m now thinking I could join in with more study and groups that til now were something I’d have to forgo thank you for making this..Version: 2.4.1

AmazingAmazing makes my studies so much easier.Version: 2.4.7

5 startThis app is really good if you are lazy or if you have a disability I really like it because I’m a slow reader and I don’t get my work done in class as much but when I started to use this it really helped me out thanks.Version: 2.21.4

Great for ADHD!I was initially very hesitant because of the upfront cost. I managed to drag out the free trial and get bonus free extra words for doing all the extra tasks (scan a document, upload 3 doc's etc)... But I finally committed and bought the subscription. Honestly, it's very good, very realistic, easy to listen to voices that only sound slightly robotic. As I have ADHD, reading for Uni is always a challenge but it's already helping me so much to stay focused and get through all my reading materials. Before, I use to take 2-3 hours to read one of my academic papers. Now I get through a paper or chapter in about 40-60min, including occassional pauses to jot down notes. I also find my retention is dramatically improved. All-in-all, great app, very user friendly..Version: 2.4.4

Very goodSad that you have to pay a lot for premium, but free version seems just as good🙏.Version: 2.22.3

Highly Recommended app!!!On point fast and convenient way of getting readings done quickly and efficiently! Especially scanned documents! I’m very impressed!.Version: 2.23.8

Amazing app for time management.Speechify has enabled me to manage my time with my studies. I find it hard to make time to read all of the literature that is given to me, but this app has made it easier to read in down time and actually apply and understand the required knowledge. Definitely the best thing I have across so far in regards to reading..Version: 2.20.8

Truly and awsome design though one thins puts me offThe Price. The price is just to much for me right now. perhaps if i found this earlier in school. but for now i cannot use it. i understand the cost of development and the time jt would take to create each new voice. huge respect for this app and when i was in school it would have been invaluable. i would highly recommend it. only the price bars me.Version: 2.9.1

Omg thank you Cliff this awesomeOmg thank you Cliff this is awesome. Make reading easy and fun . Really appreciate this app, and it free too. I use it to read my text book. Thank you.Version: 1.9.22

Absolutely Awesome AppI got this app to help me get through my many uni readings and its honestly great, you can slow it down, speed it up, pause at anytime, skip forward or back and change voices, the clarity of the voice is great and once you upload the text it’s there for good. The only down fall is you only have a 3 day trial and after that it can get quite pricey but if you are anyone like me who struggles reading and retaining information this is for you!.Version: 2.4.7

Better than expectedI took photos of my science text book and speechify read it out to me accurately (I was surprised). You can change the reading speed and voice which is really helpful! You can adjust the speed for note taking or just listening while doing other things! This is really helping I would recommend it.Version: 2.8.0

Easy to useSo convenient, I always wanted to read more but not really good at reading and I don’t have time patients to read books but this app made it so easy.Version: 2.12

I am 31yo and you have just changed my life!!!Dear Cliff, I cannot believe it. It’s one of the first time that I can finish what I was reading because I was listening. I’m a midwife and I’m 31yo. I live in London. Since I was little I’vd always thought that there was something wrong with me and I always wondered why I couldn’t study at the speed of my mates and I couldn’t read any books and I used to receive for my birthdays. And now it’s all clear. I think I have dyslexia as well and I’m so happy and convinced that this app will help me going through my Master in Public Health. Thank you, I cannot wait to listen and read more and more!!! Clarissa.Version: 2.19.3

Even can listen to any web newsAwesome ! I can’t say more words to show my excitement! I even can listen to my documents during the kitchen time and get rid of the stupid auto voice! Thanks for Cliff and the group! Also thanks Raz for publishing the video on Weibo. All the best!.Version: 1.9.26

First time experienceAs someone that has been recently diagnosed dyslexia and yet to find out what form , I have always struggled with studying , at school but born in the 80’s it was never picked up . During my work life I always brushed it off as I was so likeable always the like of the office always bluffed my way through my life till 2018 when my life was impacted and I was required to slow my life down . So I have enjoyed it. Hoping my new employment will pay for this service for me.Version: 2.16.3

Minor DyslexicI love this! I have always thought I have been a bit dyslexic... I can read but I read slower and mess up some words sometimes. I told my parents that I think I have a small case of dyslexia but they always said no. They always said you just need to practice reading more. They were right. Kind of! If I work really hard at it and am in a quiet place with no distractions, I can read a book. I’m not fast. I’m not sure I comprehend everything I should but I can read. I never liked reading until I got into high school. That is when I finished my first chapter book with out anyone reading to me. My dad would always read to me for my “lit circles” or text book assignments. I love him for that! He is one of the reasons I graduated at the top 10 of my class in high school and first two years of college! He never gave up on me and he was always there to help me no matter what I needed help with! He is my hero! Mom too! She was not very good at reading either but she did better at math. I am now attending my 3rd year of college online to become a teacher and I love to read. Speechify will just speed things up for me a bit is all! Thank you! ❤️.Version: 2.1.8

I need itHey yes I need this so much thank you so much this is brilliant perfect thank you again.Version: 2.3.8

100% BrilliantI’m very glad that this program is invented and out my whole life I’ve been waiting for this program to be created and developed thank you very much for creating this app and program I to suffer with reading disabilities since elementary school till the day I graduated high school and even into college I ended up dropping out of college due to all the many chapters of reading from all the many classes that I needed to read every night it got harder and harder and more and more that at a point I wasn’t capable of keeping up with my assignments because just to read one chapter would take me an hour or longer and I had many chapters from multiple classes each night working full time and gng to school at night full time. I just couldn’t get all the reading done that I fell behind started failing a lot of my core classes I hope that this app will allow me to go back to college again and finally graduate and get a degree after dropping out 11 years ago. Thank you for sharing such a great product with the world this app has blessed me very much thank you with all of my heart. God Bless you..Version: 2.1.9

Best reading i have ever doneI have struggled with reading my whole life but not anymore. It was the limiting element of my learning journey and it used to slow me down. But no longer. This is awesome.Version: 2.14.0

Excellent support and great appI have found speechify invaluable for churning through the endless peer reviewed papers I have to read for my course. Being able to know how long it will take to get through a paper and limit distractions or the risk of falling asleep half way through has been a game changer in structuring my study time productively. However, recently I found that some of my papers had stopped being converted correctly and were no longer listenable. I contacted their support who responded immediately. It took about a week to fix the problem, but the support was persistent and helped the developers get me back listening to my course work. Really impressed with the care and time taken to make sure I was completely happy with the reader. Highly recommended..Version: 2.19.9

Amazing!!!Not only is the functionality of the app amazing - with natural voices, highlighting and diversity, but so are the staff at this company. I have never witnessed people so helpful and genuinely kind: caring endlessly about the user comfortability. It has helped me so much. As a student, reading academic articles was so confusing and tiring, but with speechify I’m able to retain more information whilst enjoying the process too. When revising, it’s like speechify is teaching you content from the book rather than you learning by yourself. It has really helped me flourish in my studies. I would recommend everyone to get it. Even if premiums too expensive, the standard version does a fair job too. I usually never write reviews but this app has been exceedingly exceptional. Thank you so much for the app! :).Version: 2.25.4

I wish I could afford it!Beautify presented application. I wish that I could afford it. I’m single, live alone and am pushing 60. I survive on disability. I used to read a novel a week prior to my Second TBI. After it, I got about 1 a month accomplished. Following my third I’ve read one book in 15 years. I miss reading and the escape it yielded. Lately I find myself attached to the television, something I’d prefer to avoid. I’ve also acquired bone on bone knees which require replacement. I used to be an “extreme” athlete but my knees have hobbled me. I’ve lost the use of my right hand because of heterotopic ossification around my elbow after the same accident that I suffered my latest coma in. It impinges on a nerve and keeps my right hand from functioning completely. It recurs after removal. I used to be a very accomplished pianist and artist. All of my escapes are gone now. I’m left sitting in front of a television which really depresses me. The one thing I’d hoped remained to take me away was reading. Unfortunately aside from the compressed sort found on the web I’m left wanting. I wish that I could afford your application, it looks wonderful..Version: 2.4.3

Not bad just doesn’t pours or copy text as it is typedIf it copies and read text exactly as it is would be great. I sent hours editing a chapter so it read right and it just push all the writing bad together and read it straight again with out punctuation. You do get use to it and it slowly edges up the speed of reading overtime. That’s ok toll the kids interrupt you then you have to start again slower. But ok just needs some tweaking here and there by developers..Version: 2.22.9

Love itI have ADHD and I have struggled with basic English/literature for my entire life. While I am still in high school, reading and writing is still something I struggle with and speechify has helps me so much. It helps me to read books we need to answer questions for in class and long task sheets. The only issue I have had for the last couple of days is the amount of times the thing was paused because of an ad. While I can respect it advertising it’s self 3-4 times during a listening, playing 1 after the other during what’s meant to be a 1 hour reading is so annoying. I sat there for 3 minutes and got interrupted twice. Again I’m not too mad I mean the app is still amazing, it would just be nice if there were greater breaks between these ads so I can focus on the story/ information without me having to get up from my bed and press play again. Yes I’m aware I’m lazy XD.Version: 2.9.1

When it’s good it’s GreatLove how easy it is to have a Speechify read your page or whatever within seconds it ready to go live the premium voices. I was listening to my webpage read by Gwyneth Paltrow when suddenly she disappeared to be replaced without warning by a horrible robotic non-premium voice I do have the option of male or female and British, American, Australian, South African or Irish but they’re equally tinny and robotic A the Irish female voice is probably the best of a bad bunch. The worst thing by far is the full page advert that pops up about every paragraph now, trying to make me buy the unaffordable to me £135 premium package it stops your audio until you cancel it out and it really is relentless making it prob the top reason that I would not pay for this premium app, I don’t need that kind of pressure to make a decision about spending money. The app is, overall, excellent and I do really like the premium version tho I don’t like that it gets taken away so quickly. Now I’ll use the app for essentials instead of multiple times a day. Be nice to see the free version quality raised so it’s not so far away from the premium and to give something nice (a few decent voices for example) to those of us who unfortunately could never justify spending £134 a year That aside I love the concept and the way it works esp on its premium version - unfortunately it’s a great app that’ll have to remain inaccessible to me as things stand. Good luck to you tho 👍🏼.Version: 2.17.4

The Penny DroppedI purchased Premium so that I could hopefully fly through books and papers and ramp up productivity. Then there was a hiatus in work when I became ill and had a number of booklets to read about kidney disease. I was quickly able to scan them using the app and had got through them in about an hour. The scans were 100% accurate, and the they were read out clearly and crisply with my selected voice. The text is displayed as highlighted text as it is being read. The experience is solid. There are loads of voices to choose from and once you’ve either scanned or uploaded a doc you can just sit back and let it all sink in. Now that I have seen what the app can do I will use the app for my general reading (uploading books mainly). I really like what this app has given me and it really helps me to focus on what I’m reading as often I lose the thread when reading conventionally..Version: 2.21.0

Very UsefulI am actually using this app for my university’s home work, that is a lot of papers and readings. Even though English is not my first language, keeping the speed of the reader at 1.0, Speechify results to me very helpful and quicker. Sometimes I stop the voice and start again from a point I may have lost and it definitely helps to keep my eyes on the paper while the voice is reading because it improves my understanding of the English language. The only thing I suggest to the users is to scan the pages of the readings because using a web link or uploading a .pdf may result in a very poor quality uploaded paper, with tons of orthographic mistakes, that make the flow of the reading impossible..Version: 2.17.3

💯💯💯Awesome app recommend it for anyone trying to multi task with there reading much love to the creator and bud ups and respect and inspiring story to the creator of this app 10/10 my bro.Version: 2.4.7

What a great appI’ve been trying to find an app to read to my brother when I’m busy and all of them have failed to deliver. But speechify is the perfect app to use. And although the voices are robotic, they are ten times more realistic than those of the other reading apps on the market!.Version: 2.4.8

I likeI just used speechify for the first time to read a page from a book I didn’t understand, and I now understand it, so that definitely means it did it’s job. And yes, there is are audiobooks for a lot of books these days, but they often cost a lot and you can’t adjust the speed very much or have any of the features that speechify gives you, so I would say definitely give this a go..Version: 2.20.6

Getting betterI first used Speechify a few years ago. I remember having to wait for a long time for articles to be processed and thinking that it didn’t make sense from a usability perspective as oftentimes you want to listen to something on demand. Not make a cup of tea and come back to it! But having just reignited my interest in TTS I tried it again and it is much improved. Only a one or two secs wait before being able to use. The voices are good but still sound computer generated so I guess there’s still some improvement to be had there but I’ve talk I feel this app is the best in the market for TTS..Version: 2.4.9

Ok sooooooooI’m not the best at reading but I’m in my final year of my degree. So I spoke to my teacher about read aloud options on the software we have, there isn’t much option aside from copying and pasting words from documents and using the read aloud on word 😒 she they suggested some students use Speechify… I’ve just down loaded it and saw the price and though great 😒 however my dissertation is going to be much more difficult with out this app…. Make a choice my head said! So I went for its free trial and I love it so far, I’m able to paraphrase with ease. I don’t want to pay the price but what’s more important it thought -money or your ability to retain information and produce top marks?…. I know what I’m choosing ☺️.Version: 2.17.3

An excellent resource but still room for improvementAs a dyslexic PhD student this resource has been incredibly valuable to me. It has taken my reading speed from 187 all the way to 250 whilst maintaining comprehension. The only issue I have came across is how the software structures when scanning text books. Some paragraphs can be translated back disjointed (in broken up sentences)and thus being annoying. I’m sure this will be monitored and rectified with future updates so I remain very optimistic and pleased with the app and my purchase of the yearly membership..Version: 2.14.0

Cliff, you’re a genius!I personally, discovered cliff weitzmann, on the Ali abdaal podcast, since then his energy is just so addicting, loved the dudes wisdom and perspective, wonder what the dude is like firing people up in person. Long story short: I’m a webdeveloper and have little knowledge of app development, but man THIS APP IS THOUGHT THROUHH EXTREMELY WELL THROUGH! I feel like a new way of obtaining knowledge has just been unlocked🔑 Cliff only wish you good vibes! :-) Ps. Will subscribe to speechify premium ;-) Pps. Go more on such guest talks like you did with Ali, if you wanna grow speechify, which you totally want to I’m sure. I listen to your problem running into ads etc. Do more of this your personality is your biggest assest to make this biiiiiiig Brother , Peace ✌️.Version: 2.3.6

This Is A Total Game Changer!!!🙏🙏🙏This is really good, like really really good. I’ll be able to get through a text book a week if not a day! With this app. It’s just so breath taking. When I watched the creators YouTube videos about the app it seemed too good to be true and I thought it was a scam, but low and behold it’s a freaking gold mine! A major arbitrage opportunity! This has just become my new secret weapon, straight A’s here I come..Version: 1.9.30

This is the app for uniThrough just opening this app it gives you options to what speed you desire to listen at and displays the ability to take into account that not everything is a PDF. How texts come in different text types allowing you to take a photo of it, upload it or even copy and paste it. I haven’t fully been able to explore all of the apps features just yet, but I can tell this is going to be my life saver when it comes to reading those long and overly complicated University books 😊.Version: 2.3.4

Amazing app and awesome customer serviceI downloaded the app, everything went ok till when I tried to upload a couple of pdf one did not go well , probably too big or probably WiFi too poor, anyway I contacted them. And that happen the magic, they replied in very short time helpfully, assisting me during the process. The problem was surely not related of the app but probably poor WiFi connection, but they did all they can to help me! Finally all good! I really warm suggest this app and the staff behind it! Never received such amazing customer service before. And the app works really well..Version: 2.1.3

Moana CrawshawI am the same but never was so lucky is was my beautiful sister Lillian who realise and help as adult save my daughter from the heart ache I had as kid trying to understand words out that I had dyslexia and my child did too. So thank you so much for work you doing to help others.Version: 2.4.6

Great app.The whole Speechify suite has really matured in the last 1-2 years. I feel like it does a lot better with academic textbooks and journal articles where it previously had struggled. The fact that highlighting as it reads is also available across multiple platforms is fantastic. There’s really only one thing that impedes the overall workflow when using it for academic reading… no highlighting (or note taking) capabilities. While this may slow down the overall process, being able to highlight a sentence to go back to (even if it isn’t a full PDF editor experience) would be awesome. Right now I often have PDF Expert or Zotero open on my iPad for highlighting while the same document is on my laptop for actually reading to me. This takes away the very, very, very user friendly aspect of highlighting the sentence being read (and slightly darker highlight for individual word), which I think is where the app really shines in making speed reading more attainable for a broader audience. I hope they continue to improve and innovate (and maybe give us some highlighting function :). My only other gripe is lack of feature parity across web, iOS and desktop apps… It’s been getting better, but I wonder why “auto increase speed” isn’t available on iOS or desktop..Version: 2.27.7

Life saverEnglish is not my first language. I have a hard time reading so many materials in English. I couldn’t focus and do more than an hour. With Speechify I’m like listening with subtitles and easily a few hours passes. Such a life saver. My only suggestion is to adjust the pauses after periods and commas. I feel like the pause after a comma is even longer than a full stop which does not sound very natural to me..Version: 2.12

Reading was a terrifying experience.I can only imagine how successful I would have been if I had this app I am 50+ years old and I needed every accommodation possible to get through high school college and graduate school cassette tapes, Reader, scribe extended time on exams I had to force people to give me a oral exam if I heard it I knew the answer to the question but reading it I had no idea what it said ! everything this app could’ve changed my life and what I could’ve done with my life because reading was always a terrifying experience. Thank you Cliff I hope everybody can use this that needs it !!!! Cliff I had a great parent as well that would sit next to my bed and read my grandparents would read textbooks to me my mother secretary read textbooks to me I was just very blessed that I had people to help me and support me this app is almost making me cry because it could’ve literally changed my life it made life so much more pleasurable and explore all the books I’ve never read or audiobooks that didn’t exist thank you very much for expressing this and creating this app thank you.Version: 2.17.9

Love itLove this only wish I have stumbled across it a long time ago but will definitely make life easier.Version: 2.16.1

Very helpful resource in order to learn fasterI love this app as it was recommended by my best friend Josh Maze and I love more than anyone else in this entire world. Even more than James Davis I might add and that’s really saying something … well I believe this app will help me in reading articles and absorbing information to complete the remaining of my degree. This will also help as I will use it to build the kingdom of God and it will assist me in going deeper when I’m preaching sermons and sharing revelations on the scripture. As I need the mind of Christ to do the work of Christ …blessing love Ali xoxo.Version: 2.17.8

AwesomeI too have dyslexia. And I hated school for this reason. I couldn’t read stuff like my friends. I was always behind. I took so long to do homework because of it I couldn’t go out and play with my friends. I hated it. I cried and fought with my mom a lot. They put me in a special reading class to try to teach me how to turn the letters and words around. I even reverse numbers sometimes. When I was in first grade I had a teacher who would yell at me for not being able to read instead of trying to help me. So my parents held me back and put me in a different school. Where the teacher had seen it before and knew the signs for dyslexia. And I was tested and found out that’s what it was. I appreciate so much you creating this app. I do wish it didn’t cost so much. I understand you have to pay for the development and to keep it up to date. But that is a lot. I did teach myself to read and I do read books. But it does take me a lot longer than everyone else because of the dyslexia. But I do it anyway and even enjoy reading now. When I was a kid you would never see me read. But again thanks for creating an app that helps with that. I just wish the cost was lower I can’t afford that much a year at one time. Or if you had smaller monthly costs too that would be better for someone like me. Thanks again. I will use the free version for now. 👍🏻.Version: 2.10.0

Helps simulate a classroomI recently got back into school and I quickly found out how much I miss normal in-class sessions. All my classes are online and while I thought all classes were zoom-calls or at least video lectures, I was wrong. Most of my lectures are typed out and between that and a book I find myself really struggling to understand it without hearing it. Now once I found Speechify and saw how many voice options there is I knew it would be perfect! As soon as I got my documents downloaded I was able to take notes while listening like a normal class lecture. It’s even better in some ways because I can actually go back and repeat parts I missed or didn’t understand quite yet. I think the only thing that would make this app even better is the ability to view Speechify in split-screen. I’m not sure how it works for different platforms but I have an I-Pad Pro. So far I have just been viewing the lecture on the Files app in split screen while I type notes in the other. I’d like to be able to interact with Speechify in split-screen instead. Thank you for making this app though! It helped me get back on track for college!.Version: 2.19.9

NO FREE TRIAL THEY CHARGE REGARDLESSI did love the “trial” I. Thought I would love the app. However $140 with only an option for a year was a little steep. So I canceled the plan before my trial was up.. or so I thought. It tells you to go into your Apple subscriptions to cancel.. the only option there was to cancel the “free trial”. So I did. So, imagine my surprise when I was charge the full amount and after the trial time my account had me listed as a yearly subscriber. So I kindly wrote the company to let them know and to request a refund. Well, they try blaming everything on apple. They wash their hands of it. Gave me a copy and past answer that I should have canceled prior to the trial ending. I said, I did. Then they went on to say that the trial is part of the yearly subscription. Well, then that’s not a free trial…. I did give them a chance to make it right.. the did not. So, now I am warning others so that they can avoid the same issue. I had even recommended the app to friends and family. I will be warning them as well. I have requested a refund through apple and hoping that they are able to help. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!! Do not download! Do not sign up for the Fake-Free trial. There is NO TRIAL!!!!!!!!.Version: 2.25.5

VOICE QUALITY AND EMPHASISWOW This is first text to voice software that really sounds like human speech. RGM, Ph.D..Version: 2.28.5

FantasticI discovered this app Speechify and it is amazing I find it hard to concentrate as I’m reading however when I’m listening to things that it registers a lot better and the fact that you can speed up the speed is also a very good feature I love that I can copy web links paste it into the bar and there you go also you can do things like taking screenshots and putting photos with texting you can take pictures of documents i.e. scanning how amazing is this this is a really good thing for people that are visually impaired or blind myself just find it hard to concentrate to Reading.Version: 2.7

Narrators Voice is beautifulThis app is amazing and i’ve only used it for 2 minutes. I write many stories and hearing them be narrated by an old man gives them meaning and encourages me to finish them. There are many different import options, settings where you can change and swap out heaps of different readers and speeds which you can change throughout your listening experience. I really recommend this app..Version: 2.18.4

So happy with itIt could convert from pictures . I am so satisfied with it. Thank you sooooooo much.Version: 1.8.14

Just got it and love it already!!I don't know why this app isn't first in the search results.. It does exactly what I was hoping for! I rarely leave reviews, let alone leave one within minutes of getting an app, but this is a special case. Thank you so much Cliff, you the real MVP!!.Version: 1.9.28

This is the beeeest omgI pasted a whole book in and it worked sooooooo good I love it it had all voices.Version: 2.4.4

The best thing I ever foundThis app is so good know I can read my success books and become great well being read to because I’m bad at reading this is a really helpful app.Version: 2.3.9

Thank youI'm only just set up the app. This will he me loads, thank you so much for helping me extend my intelligence. I wish I could afford this app. But I find that for me to get this app for real I have to sign up. I guess nothing is for free. Very misleading. There is so many people this app could help. Only to find that the real people that need it are on low incomes. Because of there differentise. This could be the answer to there prays. Only to find they have another hurdle. Cash they haven't got.. I'm so disappointed. A very frustrated dyslexic brain tumour recover. Nothing for free..Version: 2.19.0

The Logic is SolidThe Logic is solid. Media is easier to digest when experiencing it through different mediums and senses that double down or reinforce the content being conveyed. In other words, listening is beneficial to understanding word. I don’t mean just hearing it ether. A word can be heard and not properly listened too, just a word can be read and not listened too, because listening is about actually retaining and being able to utilize the information conveyed. Think back to the last time you were asked to do something by a family member or loved one and ended up completely missing the mark. This is one example of hearing without listening. Interacting with that same information through both mediums enhances the average persons ability to listen. That being said I give the review four stars because I don’t exactly know what you pay for with premium. It’s not made clear until fiddling with the software some, and guessing at which features are and are not available to you. The UI could use improvement for intuitive use, but the logic is solid. Can’t wait to see how this app and idea improves..Version: 2.16.3

ExcellentGlad to know this app that can save my time for reading.Version: 2.21.7

Prices for educationId like to say that this is a brilliant app and although I have some critiques I will continue to use this as an aid to my education. I personally think that some of the voices are very robotic and for me personally I find this very off putting. They do allow for you to have a certain amount of ‘premium’ words per month however these aren’t enough. I don’t think there should be a price on education but clearly there is and its steep, especially for a student. The only thing that doesn’t sit right is that the man who created this app tells you that he was struggling to find stuff like this when he was growing up but yet he charges such steep prices for realistic voices..Version: 2.18.4

I love it!You should definitely download this app! I’ve “read” so many books after using this app; more than I have in my entire life. I love the feature to listen as fast as you want. It’s fairly easy to use and figure out. I like the fun incentives to read more and the stats that show your reading progress. It’s an amazing app with plenty of great free features. The app is annoying sometimes. For instance, many times, some text will be run together with no space in-between words. So the voice will read it all out letter by letter. Sometimesitsentirescentenceslikethisanditseemslikeitshouldbeaneasyfix. I also wish that when a book needs to be split up into parts (i.e. part 1/2, part 2/2) the app would begin reading the next part immediately after the last part ends. Finally, I really wish something could be done about citations. I was reading a book recently that for some reason insisted on listing the source info at the end of practically every other page. It would be great if there was an algorithm that could weed that sort of stuff out. The benefits of this app far outweigh the minor issues. I’m looking forward to continuing my book binge!.Version: 2.5.0

My world changed todayI cannot begin to write the depth that Cliff’s story and mission reverberates with my notion of what a meaningful piece of software both in intent and execution can do. I will edit this further with specifics. Pankaj Chand, MD.Version: 1.9.31

Trying to time itAll through elementary school junior high and high school when we would take turns reading I would skip ahead and figure out which chapter I was going to have to read. I will go over it and over and over in my head of course by doing this I had no idea what everybody else had read because I was so focused on trying to be able to read and not in barest myself and burst out crying. When somebody got skipped for the teacher changed the order I would go into a complete panic and then I would’ve fake illness or the bathroom break. When teachers would just call upon students to read the whole time I would be looking down trying to be as small as I possibly could and saying over and over in my head please don’t call on me please don’t call on me I have always felt dumb I have yelled at myself why are you so stupid and then I found out I too have dyslexia and ADHD I love audiobooks I want to learn and know about everything but there’s so many books out there that are not audio thank you so much for making simplify you have changed my unknown dark reading world into a magical fantasy sincerely Melissa.Version: 2.19.5

Almost perfect but.....!Hi this is honest review after use it about one month as daily user. I find my study much easier than ever before but it need some improvement for developer. 1. I would like showing the original preview not just text on the screen. Why, because we have some graph or table and it is useless with this application. 2. Landscape mode. Back to no 1 if can both portrait and landscape mode will be very easy to use. 3. Accept powerpoint file 4. Cloud system. It can be add the file from computer it is much easier to organise instead from mobile we have to work twice. 4. Always error when put file to library and go back to Dropbox the apps shut down suddenly. (Always) Thank you very much for amazing application. This should be everyone have this application especially student, professional or whoever have very strict time to review the reading material for special use. Cheers..Version: 2.3.6

BrilliantThis app is really brilliant I was there diagnosed dyslexia when I went to college it happened on the after I went to the first college I had trouble so when I went to the second college they gave me a dyslexia test and it made me realise that all that time when I struggled at school as well as in college it was because of that reason I found out my weight strengths and weaknesses and I know now that this was because I wasn’t lazy or I wasn’t dumb it’s because I was different and I just needed that special help of course I still try to read even though it’s been difficult but lucky enough when phone started doing text reading out the words to you and then suddenly I found this app it has been a major help I’m now listening to more books than I have ever heard before and I find it much better for people like us who have problems of Reading to really make a difference therefore I would recommend completely to people who need help of reading this app use it it’s helped in such a long way ….. thank you to those who made this app 🙏✨😊.Version: 2.17.4

Download booksWhy can’t I download any books because I can’t read because I had a accident 11 years ago and I can’t read anymore. Karen.Version: 2.2.8

SpeechifyThis is totally amazing! I’m totally gripped! I have uploaded a script of Arabic and was amazed when I heard the voice speaking Arabic from the Arabic text! This will help me to learn other alphabets! I’m also taking in the information into my brain. I find reading hard to concentrate on due to my mental health problems. I am also able to listen to the text I’m learning whilst performing other tasks at the same time. I am so happy. Anyone who cannot benefit from this must be an impossibility. I will sure be sharing this app with my nephews, they are both ADHD. I cannot wait to share this app with everyone I know! Thank you so much to the inventor of speechify 😀.Version: 2.17.4

Great appGreat free app for converting books into audio files, great range of voices and translated languages and very easy to use. The app still needs a little improvement to make the higher quality voices unlimited to use, currently have a daily word limit but have perfectly adequate alternatives for if you use your limit. Also has a problem with the app quitting when trying to import large amounts of texts, but will open again immediately and is fine to use, so just a minor glitch really, overall I would really recommend this app especially considering it is free to download and no hidden monthly subscriptions.Version: 1.9.23

A game changer for my writingI love this app. I can’t tell you how much of a difference it has made to not just my reading, but my writing too. I enjoy writing in my spare time and my dyslexia often means I will have trouble noticing when I’ve added a typo or skipped over a word. I have been copying a pasting my writing into the speechify app and it has been such a fantastic way of not just helping me do basic edits, but also to generally improve my writing style. The premium voices, in particular, are fantastic. I’ve been listening to the news on my phone every morning now while I prepare my lunch for work using the browser add-on. I would highly recommend this to anyone considering it. Even if you stick to the free version..Version: 2.22.4

My new favourite study toolI’m in my second year of my psychology degree. So I have tons to read most days. And am able to load my readings, and read it along with the voice at speeds I’m not capable of on my own. I get through so much work and am able to recall it too. Thanks speechify :).Version: 2.16.2

DyslexicHi, I’ve been struggling reading and retaining what I’ve read for year. I’m 48 now and only 5years ago I was diagnosed with dyslexia. Have tried since with audio books, they helped a bit but reading along with audio was had. Really hope this will be the answer. Kind regards, Jacob Orchard.Version: 2.22.0

Worlds greatest AppI just wish I had Speechify when I was a young girl I found out I was dyslexic when I was taking eighth grade over for the second time. They knew I couldn’t comprehend they knew I could read but the problem was I wasn’t retaining it and it was extremely difficult but their practice and wanted to show that I’m not stupid even though I was in special ed classes as well I started reading more and more and more two books at the same time then I got up to three books at the same time finishing them and just expanding my mind today because I was not in school and work you’re on a computer I’ve kind of gone backwards but I’m trying again I’m back in college and 53 years of age to get a bachelors degree not in my first choice and love but it nonetheless it is still business and I look forward to this the only problem I have is the price that needs to come down so that more people can use it because I’m doing the three day trial but I will not be able to afford the price of the whole program if I can get it together I will but anyone that reads this it’s a great app and it does work and for those children that need the help it’s worth of money and it’s worth the money for me I just cannot afford it on a fixed income thank you and God bless..Version: 2.19.6

Thank you so muchHi! I am a high school student tho I can read when I don’t like a certain topic I tend to doze off and or my attention goes elsewhere, earlier when I was trying to read a book for an assignment I got bored so it was so hard for me to concentrate to the point where I fell asleep after reading a few words I felt so helpless until I thought of a possible app I searched for an app that could translate straight from the book like those audible books I even considered getting a membership if I found the book on their website but thank god I found this app! I will be using it for a while ❤️❤️🥺 ty!.Version: 2.2.9

Wish I found this earlier!Ironically, I found this app 2 days after I was panicking, having to read 400 pages in 5 days for my real estate course as I had left it last minute. Now that I have found this app I can go through the same notes again to make sure I didn’t miss it by reading over it to quickly ! Highly recommended to those who need to do bulk reading!.Version: 2.8.0

Awesome!Awesome tool! So helpful, however, a little confusing when reading out numbers and acronyms. If that could be fixed, I’d pay lots more for it!.Version: 2.11.1

Testing it outSo far so good, was easy to upload my entire text book, and you can easily skip past the credits and boring bits. I’m considering premium but I don’t want to sign up for a whole year so until I can choose a month to month option I’ll stay a free user. Perhaps if I keep enjoying it I might select the annual plan as it’s cheaper over all but I’m not ready for a $200 commitment quite yet..Version: 2.9.1

Good but expensiveReally excellent app but just too expensive. 2 or 3 bux a month would make it a no brainer.Version: 2.26.6

Review for speechify using free version. The book I loaded to be read has a few glitches in the spelling. I am not sure if that was during the conversion so it could be read. I am also working with a free version before I choose to buy. The stop start does get a little frustrating but I understand why as I am encouraged to buy. Being dyslexic and having ADHD I can see how this would very much help me in many ways. Staying focused on the book or what is being spoken and being able to visually see and read in my mind at the same time is super as it compounds the information going in. So far I am well impressed. Great work. Great app.Version: 2.19.9

Changing my life! Thankyou!!I work in the music industry as a manager and an A&R now for a major label and I am dyslexic. The premium voices have made so much of my work so much easier with stress being a lot higher in this current climate. I can stay focused, comprehend and do more. Honestly I wish Speechify (& my other go to tool Grammarly) were the default on all Mac products and that they were more a tiny bit more in built for work flow with Dropbox / Google Workspace / iBooks and Microsoft Office etc. I do really wish I could use speechify in iBooks tho. That would be also great. :).Version: 2.16.2

Dyslexic Graduate StudentI can’t even begin to thank the creators of this app enough. After 4 challenging years of undergrad and an excruciating first semester of grad school pursuing a history degree, this app has literally changed my life. I wish I had heard about it sooner! My whole degree is basically reading non-stop and this app has given me so much time back by allowing me to follow along at a quicker pace and not get bogged down. The open dyslexic font and color changing abilities on the app are also super helpful if I don’t have the text right in front of me (and sometimes when I do lol). The app isn’t perfect, especially if you’re downloading PDFs that have stupid credits at the bottom of every page (to no fault of the creators the app is just reading what’s on the page), however it is 100% worth just keeping it open to skip those sections and continue at a much faster pace than I could ever read on my own. I am truly so grateful and will be recommending this app to everyone in my program and anyone I know who struggles with reading as much as I do. If you’re debating downloading- I would say just do it for sure!.Version: 2.4.2

This app is basically (indirectly) giving me a job.I’m a college student and I need to read a lot of things for research and other assignments. Without this app I wouldn’t be able to finish any of my assignments, there are other apps similar to this one but this one is DEFINITELY the best one! I would not be passing school if it weren’t for this app. It’s also a handy tool for getting through long boring emails or readings. If anyone is wondering if they should get this app the answer is yes!.Version: 1.9.26

Eat to useI find this very useful and perfect for me to use.Version: 2.21.7

RateVery useful and easier than others app, I love this one the most..Version: 2.2.6

Love this app as Dyslexic doing my PGCE in teacher trainingI discovered this app on Facebook and thought I would give it a go about two weeks ago I work with vulnerable students who have trouble reading and writing I have told my college about is that my colleagues who I’m doing my teacher training with I absolutely love this app not only does it help me with my research and my reading for my course has now given me the confidence to be able to read books if I’m stuck I would just like to say thank you for the people who put the working for this app you can actually change my life and that is not an understatement ❤️.Version: 1.6.8

Good potential, but bugs make it almost unusableThis is possibly the buggiest app I’ve ever used. It’s sad to say, but almost without fail, every time I use it I encounter bugs which either make the experience terrible or just mildly annoying. Right now I went to read a book I imported - it went out of sync (text is different to speech), then stopped moving, and now won’t play at all, even after quitting out and restarting the app. The Mac version is equally buggy, as it pauses every minute or so and goes out of sync. These are the same bugs that were there 6 months ago, so I have no clue what the developers are doing... Maybe too focused on bringing out new features and too forward thinking to seriously consider taking a few months to go back and fix all the bugs. Either way, it’s a mess. I’ve recommended this a lot to my friends, and will still try to use it, but it’s very very infuriating and fees more like a dressed-up CS project than a commercial app. Hopefully this gets fixed soon, as it has great potential..Version: 2.3.4

Unreal, best experience so farThis Text-to-Speech software is worth your time. Try it free, on different platforms. I am currently using the "Narrator" (beta) voice and starting at 160 WPM speed for better retention. My school notes now have the same vibe as a BBC documentary and it's a vibe. The price for premium is steep for one year but honestly time is money and the amount of time you'll save once you train yourself to use this program efficiently outways the price. I am currently restructuring my school notes formatting so that it can be read smoothly with this app. I think that I have it figured out and the time learning to work with this program already seems worth it. Check it out..Version: 2.16.0

I have kinda a bugDon’t get me wrong I love this app bit this morning when I opened the night previous I scanned all my pages that I needed and this morning when I woke up it’s no longer there. The title is but all of the words are gone. Please help me cause I don’t wanna scan another 60 pages (edit I just Finnished listening after rescanning all pages but it was worth it :) 10/10).Version: 2.19.8

Great alternative to audible!Does exactly as it should. Easy to use and navigate the platform. Theirs a rage of different voices to choose from and the premium versions allows HD quality voice effect to stimulate your reading journey like a lula bye as you listen to the reader. You also have the option to read without the voice over. I personally alternate between voices and silent mode as this helps retain information for me. Definitely worth a try! It is a GREAT alternative to audible!.Version: 2.14.0

Life changer for uni studentsOne of the best apps I have ever purchased - I wish it had existed sooner! I’m an MA history student and used to find myself constantly drowning in reading but speechify has made it all completely manageable and pleasurable. I’d highly recommend it for anyone who reads slowly or learns faster having things read to them. For students it is a game changer and honestly worth every penny. I used to spend hours a day staring at my laptop screen but now I can listen to my reading while on a walk or in the car. Additionally, the HD voices are amazing (so lifelike) and I love the variety available. The ability to convert photocopies of books or articles completely surprised me. The words, despite being blurry on the original scan, were converted into digital text perfectly and read out smoothly. The only improvement I could think of is creating the ability to delete repeated text automatically, as I find the publication information at the bottom of pdf book pages gets read out repeatedly throughout - this can be a annoying when listening in podcast format..Version: 2.4.2

Best App out there for text to speechI have used quite a few of the text to speech apps but nothing comes close to the accuracy & seamless narratives you get from Speechify. The only downside is the price point. Everything else works perfectly for any purpose. PDF’s,Word docs, articles etc on static or dynamic web pages are all read to you by this app..Version: 2.2.6

Life EnhancingSpeechify has definitely enhanced my life, I was going to say that it was life changing but that seemed a little dramatic! I am a slow reader, not because I have a problem reading, I am just slow and have been since a child. I switched to audiobooks a number of years ago but I have newspaper subscriptions which obviously I had no other option than to read them but I was limited to how many articles I could read or I’d spend all day reading! Then I discovered Speechify and it’s been a revelation! I can listen to as many articles as I want, many that I wouldn’t have prioritised to read and that have been thought provoking & educational. I use Speechify countless times every day & can honestly say it has been life enhancing!.Version: 2.21.1

An app that teams up with voice inside your head!I dare you to download this app and use it only once. Should be easy enough to dismiss. I mean as apps go its kind of extra, right? My iPhone and Siri can read perfectly fine, cant they? My google home is a device, it reads me the news in the morning in the background while the showers on sometimes....The hard truth is that if you even once for a moment have suspected that the reason you are not comprehending what is being read to is because the voice is bothersome or off or vaguely vacant, robot or not, you’ll seamlessly stop tuning into that feature just as effortlessly as Schools Out For Summer! I think deep down we all know reading for knowledge and true betterment doesn't come cheap and that its beyond human capacity to fake comprehension to oneself, inside ones own head where understanding is reality and not understanding is impossible to even discern. Where is it anyway? 2/3rds of the internet of ideas is out there in print. The voice that reads to you reads inside your head without frills or effect but steadily and with integrity..Version: 2.3.5

Thank goodnessI have had dyslexia all my life I have also worked very hard to learn and study... But like you I had no one to read the college books to me. There use to be a book scanner but it was so slow and the voice so computerized it was painful . I ended up withdrawing from my studies because I was so slow... this really hurt as I wanted to prove to myself and everybody else that I wasn’t lazy or dumb. If only I had your speechify then. I would love to get this to the kids out there so they don’t have to go through want I went through blessing Gaylene Donehue New Zealand..Version: 2.3.9

Amazing!Awesome! Why didn’t I think of this - and find this app ages ago!.Version: 2.9.1

SpeechifyI’m dyslexic and this is help me very much throughout school and just in general it is not only help me and improved my reading but I also recommended it to my family members and that is very well speak if I had also taught me words I didn’t know that honestly existed so thank you speechify for helping me😊.Version: 2.4.8

This app is 🔥I have adhd and to have someone/ thing read my books to me while I read at the same time helps me gain a more insightful understanding of the messages I sometimes skim past without realising, it helps me stop fading out until the end of my page where I realised I stopped focusing. Highly recommended. Only note is to some day have actual people with different accents to voice over the contexts to make it easier to listen too and understand..Version: 2.11.1

I’m loving it!I always read really slow compared to others and I always tend to read better with someone/something reading it out loud. On this app though I can just easily take a picture of my book pages and it loads within a minute which is really fast and amazing and I just listen to it. It does mess up on some of the words which is understandable that’s why I’m glad I can just edit the text from what ever it messes up. I love how you can just add folders because I’m separating my book by chapters because that’s easier and to make it a whole lot easier I just add it in a folder with the book title as the folder name. It’s easy to add series also because I can add folders within a folder and I find that absolutely amazing. I’m glad I found this app so I can actually read better and read more of what I love! I already been suggesting this app to a lot of people and I only got it yesterday. I love this app already! I’ve been listening to my book all day while doing some work without buying things like some ebook apps even though they're some things you can buy like translation and voices which I might actually buy soon! ❤️❤️❤️Thank you so much! You’re such a life saver! I’m glad this app exists!❤️❤️❤️.Version: 2.3.3

Love it!I’m an exhausted mum of three of kids with high medical needs and found that I couldn’t get through the reading I needed to for my uni degree. After discovering that I learn better by listening to tutorials anyway, I tried a lot of the free “natural read” type apps and the robotic voice put me to sleep. This app is expensive but wonderful. I justify the cost as I can enjoy my uni degree without the stress of having to “read so many pages” under conditions where I’m always interrupted or doing multiple things at once. I listened to the creators story and how he invented this app and it’s so similar to my sons story (adhd and dyslexia) I hope he can make use of this app too with his studies. Thank you for such a great piece of tech that opens forward to busy parents who love to learn :).Version: 2.18.10

Incredible! But…This app is absolutely incredible! Easily the best application for reading PDFs or any other written work. So far my only big complaint is with the 5000 word per day limit on the HD voices. The HD voices are incredible but the standard voice in speechify is super jarring to listen to and not pleasant at all. I find that when I reach my 5000 word limit each day I will stop using the application all together and go back to using the inbuilt screen reader in my iPhone. Despite the dip in features Siri has a much more pleasant voice to listen then the standard voice in speechify. Please lift the limit on HD voices or at leased make them purchasable! This would become my most important app if you could!.Version: 1.9.27

Awesome app!Speechify has seriously changed the way I consume information. I learn and integrate more information when I’m moving, and this app allows me to devour articles, research papers, documents, books, etc while I’m hiking or commuting. I could not read the volumes I do while listening. Recommend to anyone with an insatiable appetite for receiving knowledge, students, especially those who struggle with reading. Speechify is a game changer and the team are super supportive whenever you have a question on the app. Highly recommend!.Version: 1.9.29

Amazing app!Just used it and so far it’s amazing. Let’s see how the journey goes..Version: 2.17.9

Excellent text to speech - but tight on —150k words per monthExcellent text to speech. application - but tight on —150k words per month. I’ve just paid for the app for a years subscription, however you’ll only be allowed to have 150k words per month, with the voice that sounds human like, after the monthly allowance you will be left with the robotic voice, until the start of the next month. I’ll end up using 150k words in 10 days, then have to put up with the robotic voice for 20 days, based on this I might end up cancelling my subscription with the grace period provided and stick with the robotic voice... I didn’t want to do that, but price and restricted on 150k, has made me change my mind. It would be good to have at least 300k works per month, please take note team, can you up the number of monthly words from 150k to 300k.Version: 2.4.6

AwesomeAwesome app that has helped me read many books only annoying thing it the my audio pauses during a scan as a premium ad pops up other than that it’s very helpful.Version: 2.10.0

Genuinely LifechangingI wouldn’t normally write a review like this, but this app has changed my life so much I felt like I ought to give credit where credit is due. I’m a final year student at University waiting on an ADHD diagnosis. In my country, wait times are years long, so I needed a solution fast. Enter Speechify. For the first time in my life I am actually able to read and take in what is on the page. I’ve gone from taking 3 hours to read a page to doing my entire week’s reading in a day. I’ve noticed an increase in my grades too - since I started using the app I’ve consistently got As. Thank you Cliff and the team for making such a difference in my life and the lives of others!.Version: 2.4.6

Helps heapsMy name is Phil and I am a 50+ year old who never got to finish school I found out in my mid forties that I have something called dyslexia and now with the help of this app I can keep up with others in my advanced diploma in disability I can spend a heap more time studying because without using the app I can normally read about three lines on a page before I loss my spot and or concentration I just wish it was cheaper as a person with no education I am restricted to work that doesn’t pay as well as when you have education that is why I am doing the course and this really does help..Version: 2.16.2

Awesome Creation! This is most definitely one of the most effective and productive process assisting programs ever created! It’s absolutely incredible! You can increase your ability and triple or quadruple your productivity in a matter of hours and get leaps and bounds ahead of your goals, expectations and colleagues with amazing results and accomplish your tasks in fractions of the time! It’s creators like this that make programs like this out of shear desperation and necessity that are absolutely required by so many that just need that one tiny bit of encouragement that really just doesn’t exist until it’s created like this so that they/we can become successful and surpass even our own wishes, ambitions and dreams which we thought impossible! Thank you for all your pain and suffering! All your hard work and misery! All your ambition and frustration! All your aggravation and accomplishments! All of your failures and triumphs! All your pain and dedication! You are: “ONE IN A MILLION”! This will help so many that have hidden in the dark on the sidelines for so long for fear of discovery! They will now come running out of the shadows to enlighten the world with their light and knowledge to show everyone their strength, ability and capabilities because of you and because of this! Thank you!.Version: 2.18.4

GoodWould be great to have dark mode and offline mode.Version: 2.24.3

Cool AppReading while listening..Version: 2.18.3

Gwyneth Paltrow read me my thesis!I love this, but you can tell it’s in its infancy a little. The tone of the reading does sound a little robotic (no more or less worse than “Siri” I would say). The Gwyneth and Narrator (very Attenborough-ish) are fun to listen to and probably sound the least robotic. The actual software probably works better off my phone than my computer so far I would say. I had a few issues getting the Chrome extension on my laptop to work unfortunately (when I click on the icon, it doesn’t usually work/do anything). I had to install/reinstall and restart my computer to get it to work initially, and even after that it’s still weirdly clunky. I contacted support about this and they got back to me quickly which was a good positive! I think once these little quirks are fixed, it’ll be phenomenal. I never thought I would hear my own university essays/thesis being read by Gwyneth Paltrow, but here we are!.Version: 2.17.4

Studying Efficiency DoubledFor a long time I’ve been actively looking for a better way to study. Among my strategies is a time consuming, “actually reading aloud” important notes and sometimes whole passages into a handheld voice recorder. Many times, I have to review and replay small sections. I either have to record in small bits to select small sections or rewind and scan through large whole passages guess-timating more or less what I want to review. It can become a tedious process and makes for inefficient study but with this app I simply select the section I want to replay by touching the screen, along with the playback speed and tone and accent of voice choice. At $12 a month and as an active duty military member, a part time student, and a law abiding citizen trying to keep up with world news the premium for the app was contemplated for all of 20 seconds. I didn’t want to do it but I’ve made way worst financial decisions in the past. WHY NOT! If you don’t get the app you will be making a tiny mistake in your life. Also I must mention that there are free aloud readers out there but everything needs an active internet connection. Having the freedom to carry my smartphone and headphones around without being attached to a laptop is worth its weight in gold..Version: 2.18.1

InspiredI’m so excited about this app. Opening up the app and getting to listen Cliff Weitzman’s story was incredible, I connect & relate to it so much. I’m 25 and have been dealing with being unable to condensate & read my whole life. I get exhausted & distracted so easily when I start a book that it’s always felt impossible. I was silently so ashamed of it. I still owned books for show that inspired me but I hadn’t read them and I was often worried somebody would ask me about the books I owned and I wouldn’t be able to tell them. When I was 22 I could afford to get audible and it changed my life. Now at 25 I’ve downloaded Speechify and it’s happening again, a deep feeling of hope and understanding. Thank you for creating this app..Version: 2.9.1

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix itI love this app, I use this for university and it’s helped so much since I am an audio learner. The voices are great but I usually only like to stick to one. Only thing I would change is the old layout of all my files, they made a change lately where it’s all one long list of random files that you can’t see until you load it. Since the files I have are about an hour or two each it takes some time. Please return the file list to the way it was..Version: 2.28.3

AmazingHas helped me get through my readings so good. And the summarization is great for notes!.Version: 2.28.0

The product is good but very pricy with significant issuesThe app, after purchasing the pricy subscription, is great. Does exactly what it states it helps with. As a student, I find it to be a helpful additional resource. However it is super pricy, the only reason I bought it is that it is within tax cash back range. It also has a significant amendment to the subscription which states the premium voices, you downloaded and purchased the product for, has a limited use even after the significant cost of subscription. So be wary when subscribing..Version: 2.20.7
