It only took me a few minutes to set it up and, then bam I got a website up and running linking all my social media account and my portfolio. I would like to speak to the owner Joseph Cohen because he needs to understand what is happening to his company. It went from a one of the best apps to one of the worst. My company has taken a hit and so has my reputation. it’s embarrassing to have this happen where my domain name changes back and fourth. it looks like i’m not paying my bill even tho i paid a year in advance. This hurts a company because who could trust a company who doesn’t pay their bill and keeps changing their domain from the one it has been for 3 almost four years to a free plan. I’m really shocked and disappointed in a company I use to want to apart of because of how great their product was. I may never regain the public’s trust and if so it would take months to years. ✓ Universe appThe app is great and simple. However, there are two downside of the app. 1. The menu bar, do I have to pay just to get the menu bar? ✓ Wasted an hour and a halfI downloaded this app to put a simple website together. Good reviews went for it! It is very good easy to use thumbs up! But then i switched to Safari to download a photo! I was looking for one for about 10 mins, went back to Universe and it didn’t save any progress what so ever and of course started from scratch. I think Auto Save is a basic function these days, plus it’s no point if the iPad cant keep it open at the background for 10 mins. Huge let down after a good start....Version: 2.22.2

✓ The pro features:I started using Universe quite a while back when I had an idea for a personal project that could turn into a website. I was a massive fan and recommended it to everyone. It was just so simple to make a website. I made a fantastic website, and even their Instagram page soon picked up on it. Then I had to take a break from my website to concentrate on my studying. I came back today ,15 March 2020 after a 6 month break and I was horrified. I tried to put down a new block and nearly EVERYTHING was a pro feature. Being a kid, I can barely afford to pay what they want for pro features. So I ask with a heavy heart to change everything back to the way it was..Version: 3.22.2

✓ Just overall displeasedWhen I initially downloaded the app it was supposed to be free however to use any of the products advertised I had to sign up for a subscription. I signed up for the subscription I was charged and then those features still did not work. Now I am trying to transfer the domain I purchased with them to another website and their customer service email has been the worst form of communication ever. They also like having a physical phone number for which you to call in and speak to a representative so you’re stuck waiting for days until someone finally decides to respond and those responses are equally less helpful. ✓ Shady business practices and mediocre appI downloaded this app as a way to check out my website building options for my brand. The UI is kinda interesting but pretty simplistic; it’s hard to make sites that look good if you have a lot of information. The whole concept of using a grid basically means you’re forced into specific templates with not much room for flexibility. I used their domain service while I was testing the app, and after I decided not to go with them (due to their issues connecting with my Shopify account) they basically tried to blackmail me into keeping my domain, claiming I needed to make some sort of third party account or wait 90 days. It was only after threatening to report them to ICANN that I finally got my domain back. Do not use their domain service! It’s overpriced and they’ll try to keep your domain..Version: 3.9.1
✓ DeceivedIf I could give a negative star, I would. This app is a one page site, which is not a website, and you can’t sell anything, so you might as well call it a blog. It had glitches as well. It would freeze up from time to time. I was deceived when I signed up with the app. I didn’t know I was purchasing a domain name, and they purchase a domain through another service. I decided this app was not going to work for me, so now I have to keep my account open with them for one year. They won’t give me access to my own domain that I purchased. I have a shopify store, and need to buy an email with gsuite, but I can’t even do that, because I need to wait for Universe to log into my domain to finish setting it up. I have not heard back from Universe to do so. I am left waiting. Plus any issue I have with my domain. I have to wait for them to fix the problem. I am not that techno friendly, but I am learning as I go, and I pick on things real quickly. Making someone wait when it is something that can be fixed asap is not right. ✓ Used to be great but devs got greedyDownloaded this when it was first around and even though some key pro features were behind a paywall it still gave you enough slack to actually make a website and this was enough for me to buy a subscription. ✓ Paid for premium but can’t use premium featuresThis is why I normally pay a month at a time for subscriptions. I figured, why not go all in on a year for this app? The price difference was enough to convince me. Then when it came time to register my domain, I get a generic error telling me to reach out to support. I try to do that in the app, and it gives me the SAME generic error. I’m now losing time on the subscription I spent a whole lot of money on because it doesn’t work. ✓ Not worth your time.1. Site design is very limited. This is the kind of design that fails. Someone heard “simple is better” and got carried away. The lack of flexibility and functionality strips the resulting sites of any meaning or character. 2. The functionality is awful. There’s no tutorial and the three column block system is terribly rigid. You can’t create any other pages, so no real site content is possible – only linking to social media. Design-wise, there’s no way to resize text blocks, make blocks overlap, create simple buttons or forms, or calls to action. 3. You’re literally setting your site up for failure if you think this will meet your needs. Get onto a desktop and design a responsive site using Squarespace or Wordpress. ✓ Used to be my favourite app...It used to be so good at the start- you could have a domain for free, you could have a blog for free, you could have as many pages as you wanted for free and many other features such as location, links to next page, links to social media, videos, email lists, automatic emails, stats, text, your own shop page to sell and all the rest of it... After creating my own dog business website and an healthy eating one I took a couple of months break from the app. I went back onto it and it had completely changed. First they started with removing the blog and swapping it for the timeline which I contacted the app loads of times about that because I mainly used the blog to keep in touch and have updates with customers. Then a couple of weeks later I tried to add a block and guess what nearly all of the functions were only available on the pro version. As a young person I’m not gonna pay £400 a year for the functions you basically NEED to make a simple website. (It only costed £2 to have that domain for life before and all the functions were free). They have just got greedy and now the app is rubbish. WHAT IM TRYInG TO SAY IS... don’t waste 2 hours of your time making a home page to your website then realise you have to pay £400 to make a second page. I have this app linked to a huge platform I have online and the app views never match the actual views that the website is getting. It shows a number way lower than your actual views. ✓ Not for ProfessionalsI tried to accept a $698 payment, from a client, for services rendered. Got an email sent to my spam folder letting me know that they suspect the charge is fraud and won’t be releasing the money to me. There is no way to contact these people on the telephone. This organization is run by a bunch of kids and if they don’t figure it out they’re going to be doing $20 transactions until the death of this app. I pay like 10 bucks a month to use the service, but it was probably $25 processing fee. It seems obvious to me that for their model to work that they need the site builders to utilize their internal payment processing. Who in their right mind would use a payment processor that puts holds on legitimate payments and sends the alert to spam, while their marketing emails go direct to my inbox. Really, I’m super disappointed, and I expected more from this application. Unfortunately, until the developers become professionals, they’ll never properly serve professionals. ✓ Basically a scamI went to try the 3 day trial and was charged immediately, rather than in 3 days. However, even though I was charged and received a welcome email from Universe, the app does not register that I am charged and will not allow me to use the Pro features. When I reached out to Universe about this issue, they recommended that I ask Apple for a refund, and also told me that Apple might not refund me but if I stay persistent in the request, I may get my money back. Apparently this is a common problem. I don’t like to write negative reviews but I was charged $120 for a service I can’t use, and customer service basically told me to figure it out myself. Especially if your economic situation has been affected by the pandemic like me, it’s not worth the risk to try this service and be billed for nothing. And my domain provider isn’t on Universe’s list of domain provider. Help button doesn’t work so Emailed Universe as they advised and no email back. Have used Webflow in the past but it you need a laptop for webflow. Be cause of the lack of support I’ve bought a laptop. Yes, I’d recommend Universe, but check domain providers first and keep it simple. More than simple then Universe might not be for you. ✓ Software amazing, support trashSo I had previously purchased domain names elsewhere before I had known about Universe. They offer the ability to redirect said domain names and use external domain names outside of the universe. I have been trying to get everything set up and redirected and needless to say I’ve been on the phone with my other hosting company. Everything is fine on their end but I have yet to get any feedback from Universe. They gave me a grand total of like three or four messages which I actually ended up answering my own questions. I have been trying for the past two days to get a hold of somebody to get some help to get this set up since it’s a business I’m trying to run. I have gotten nothing. And actually some of this port tickets that I’ve opened were just closed with no reason nothing I purchased the pro membership expecting a certain level of customer support I’ve gotten nothing. I created a site and started to get sales and fulfill my orders and they promise 2 day payouts and then suddenly change it to manually requested (basically they pay you when they want if at all) Customers complain that the payment block doesn’t take certain cards and they stop your payments and pay you when they feel like it. They alleged fraudulent transactions as an excuse keep my earnings because I was doing well in sales! Just a balance sitting in my account and I may never get paid. You can’t create from your Instagram (like it shows) unless you pay. The site it made for me after the initial run through was embarrassing and I would never submit that to fans. The templates are a waste of time as all they seem to do is change colour, which is possible yourself. I found it awkward to use too. The idea is a great one, but I feel the ‘pro’ tools (essential all the tools you will need to make a good looking and functional website) are overpriced while the free version is useless. Kind of shocking how whitty, clever, and so though out they are for something that most people spend all of 5 seconds contemplating before writing. Now I'm not accusing anyone of anything in particular I wouldn't be too shocked of anything as well... As for my thoughts on the app itself. It's basically useless as a web design program as it's advertised. Although it may has some potential as a free tool for making working prototypes. If the developers of this app were smart they would pick up on this and capitalize on this potential rather than focus on actually making websites with it. It's far easier to just use WordPress theme 2015 and be done with it. That being said l definitely don't speak for everyone and some people may actually find it useful for it's presented use case, however I find it to be lacking too much in power for that. ✓ Too much priceWorks very well. Fantastic quality, easy to use. But i have about 37 cents, and i cant pay. I was able to build a perfectly functional website without paying as i didnt have my own domain, minus the store i wanted to put up later. That was fine. However, out of nowhere, if i wanted to add anything id have to pay almost $200. I could delete stuff, but if i tried to add it back right away, it tells me i need to pay. ✓ Cool but unpolishedYou get to building a site and it’s cool and works well actually until you run into some bugs or glitches. For example when you try to add a slideshow of pictures to your site it’s a bit glitchy when you visit the site. Or a button doesn’t work probably and a lot of times what you see in app doesn’t translate EXACTLY when you look up your site, especially on desktop which is what a lot of people use. Other than that its cool but if you want a really professional site I’d just pay someone to make it. Great for individual startups but not so much for an official business, as you’ll quickly see your competitors website is far more polished..Version: 3.55.1

I’m also begging you even harder to find a way to allow mass printing of shipping labels because going through 170 orders and single handedly filling out the weight for the same item for a different order every single time leads me to burnout. You don’t mention this requirement in any of the summations of your site. You have to discover it along the way after downloading the app. Are you a website construction company? Are you a domain registrar? You can be both, but please don’t shake my hand with one arm while hiding the other behind your back and pretending it’s for my benefit.
