✓ Lots of bugsI love the board game, and the iPad version is very enjoyable too. But there are lots of bugs: the UI can become unresponsive (scroll and buttons), but the worst is that the points are wrongly calculated. On a Play With Friends game, played on 2 different iPads side by side, the game will calculated different final scores on the the 2 iPads..Version: 1.10.02

✓ Beautiful game, many bugsTokaido is a fantastic game about the journey of life- very casual and a great gateway game, but still fun for gamers. This app is a beautiful rendition of Tokaido. The music is perfect, sounds effects are great, animations smooth, love it. I don’t like we need a Funforge account to play multiplayer instead of simple Gamecenter account, but not the end of the world. However, there are “game-breaking” bugs. Seems to be more often in multiplayer than single player - I only play online with friends. Bugs such as: -unable to buy items from market, even when one has the money -Chuubei sometimes meets a stranger before final meal -donate money at the temple: it doesn’t count but we lose the money anyway -random crashes to desktop If more bugs appear I’ll report back here. Would love it if the bugs can be tracked down and squished! Otherwise great game and love it anyway :).Version: 1.09

✓ So buggyI love the game and the aesthetics but online play is so buggy. In multiple online games, I have had to exit because it has crashed, which is extremely frustrating as we were so close to the end. I think there should also be a warning about the time limit when it comes to playing online before automatically being kicked out of the room. Joining a room with friends has also proved difficult despite us all being online. If these issues were fixed, it’d be a 5* review..Version: 1.12
✓ CrossroadsBought the app several months ago, anticipating the crossroads expansion to be added, as promised by developers, only to discover a few days ago that the developers ( funforge ) removed the crossroads option and renamed the game to “classic tokaido”. in typical funforge fashion, scr*@ing the customer, has become their business motto. they turned the tokaido board game into a nightmare during it’s release to the public,.Version: 1.11

✓ What just happened?The number one goal of a tutorial is to state your goal. I played this twice through and still don't know the objective, how to play or win. At the end there's just a congratulations (apparently I won) with no scoring. The tutorial takes you through like 4 steps then says you're on your own but will help along the way which never happens. Without instructions (yes there are none to refer to) the game is sort of useless. It will only serve those who've played before or own the game. Sorry it's a nice graphical and sound app but as a board game I have no idea what's going on..Version: 1.11.01
✓ Restarts if I don't finish in one sittingIf I don't finish a game and come back to it later, I usually have to start over from the beginning. It's frustrating if I get interrupted and want to finish the game later. Other than that, it's fun..Version: 1.10.02

✓ Does not work wellMy husband and I both downloaded this game because we have the board game and love it. It seems like they focused too much on the aesthetics and not enough on game function. I got a phone call in the middle of our first game and it kicked everyone off and deleted the game. Every time you close the app it logs you out. I haven't been able to log in for hours because the server isn't responding. There is a tutorial but it doesn't really explain how points are scored, so if you hadn't played the board game it would be confusing. I will update my review if these issues get resolved but so far I am very disappointed. One thing they did right is the visuals. It is illustrated beautifully and is one of the prettiest games I've seen on IOS..Version: 1.11.01

✓ App won’t open, no customer supportIPhone 6s, purchased app, i played it for 30 min, it shut off unexpectedly and now it won’t open. Went to contact customer service and there is no way to do so, they’re website has no content or contact info. ✓ Please fix this gameThe game is pretty and they really did a nice job recreating the board game but the online play doesn’t work at all. More than half the time you get booted or the game crashes sometimes if you’re really lucky you can actually play through with others. ✓ Great offline, play with friends doesn’t workI’ve played this game a lot offline as solo and “pass and play” which works great. But we tried playing online with friends, and it doesn’t work. There’s an option to “add friends”, but then you can’t create a private room or do anything with them. Not sure why it has space to add friends if it does nothing. If you create a room, it doesn’t show up reliably, and it allows anyone in. I had to cancel rooms with strangers, and I felt bad about that. My husband sitting next to me could see rooms I created and vice versa..Version: 1.11.01

✓ Recent update very buggyI was really pleased with the game, but the recent update has made performance buggy. AI characters can't make it to their destination and just jitter on the screen. The score tracking screen wasn't accurate with what I completed. Sometime in day three all the scores looked doubled. When I went to the souvenir shop it said I bought 16 souvenirs--I had bought 3. ✓ WARNING: Passwords are compromisedThis is a very fun game, simple and easy to play. I would give it a higher rating but the online game is NOT SECURE. Shortly after creating a login / password, I received an extortion email where they cited my password. I have only used this password for this game service, so the FunForge server must be compromised. Use at your own risk!! ✓ Online Play is ShockingIn and of itself, the game is amazing. That said, it’s completely ruined by the dreadful online experience when trying to play with friends. On the rare occasion the server is able to host a 4 player game, it more often than not crashes halfway through. If they fixed the online play then this would easily be a 5 star app..Version: 1.12

✓ You Get What You Pay For... And this app was free. Beautiful concept, poor execution. The have has a variety of issues. In addition to the game freezing and not being able to get back in, there are all kinds of things that mess with the game when playing online. Some include * Donations to the Temple not being credited, or being credited to another player. * Items purchased at the market not being received, but takes the coins. * Food at the Inn that was purchased doesn’t show in players collection, or goes to another player. * Stopping at the farm and not getting the coins. * Two players with the same character. On top of those, finding friends and playing with them doesn’t work. It could not locate players by their nickname and we were only able to connect when both in the waiting room. Finally, you can’t do anything else on your device while playing. If you go out of the app for any reason, or even get a phone call, you cannot reconnect to your game..Version: 1.11.01

✓ Full of glitchesI would give this game a lower star if I could. It deserves negative stars. If I buy a game, I want the game to actually work. It does not work more than half the time. I haven’t been able to finish a game yet because the app will randomly force quit and it does not give you an option to go back to your game. You have to start all over. ✓ Great port, online multiplayer needs workPlays just like the board game, excellent experience, beautiful graphics, solid AI, weak multiplayer. Multiplayer issue: -This does not need to be a realtime multiplayer. I wish more games would emulate Lords of Waterdeep's multiplayer mechanic. Each player gets a set amount of "game time" to burn across their entire game. Ranges from 30 minutes to 45 days. So you can truly play an asynchronous multiplayer at whatever pace you choose. Tokaido multiplayer is a ghost town, because multiplayer is Only real time. Other complaints - "resume" does not work. Adds 100 points to every character, adds all kinds of extra "stuff" that wasn't there. - tiebreaker appears not to work properly. Tied for points, most achievement cards did Not win. And there appears to be no mechanism when a game is tied both in points and achievement cards- which, based on game rules, I believe would be a true tie. Haven't tried multi player yet, will try that next..Version: 1.07.1

✓ I’d love to finish a gameI’m using an iPhone 6. I know my phone might be considered as outdated, but I’m a customer as well so please hear me out. I believe there to be a memory leak somewhere, I could never finish a game without the game crashing out. If the devs can fix this somehow then I can enjoy the game as its supposed to be enjoyed. ✓ BuggyI can’t reliably play on my ipad, because it crashes right when i open the app. I have to close the app and open other apps so it doesnt show in recently opened apps on the bottom of the home screen...and then sometimes it crashes mid-game. Then, I’m able to play continuously, so whne the game crashes is appears inconsistent. Also, I wish I could fast forward the animation, because I play solo and get tired of watching the AI’s run. And, when there are two slots, is the slot on top supposed to go first in the physical board game? I also get bored waiting for my turn and I cringe if I have to be the first to pick a location if there are two slots, because it meansI’ll wait extra long. Finally, I was playing the character that gets to pick the encounter. It was between picking a mountain or the sea. So picked the mountain so I could finish the set, then it went through some animation I finished and superimposed on top of that was a message saying I already finished the mountain set and pick again, so I picked sea and I got 2 paintings for one encounter. Lowered the game to ONE STAR because it’s buggy when playing online with friends. So frustrating. I can’t believe something so unstable was released and sold for money on the App Store..Version: 1.09
