SmartThings for Negative User Reviews

Don’t migrate if you’re using Smartthings classicThe whole automation and monitoring is down and nothing works. The support team do not respond to any support ticket. My system has been nonfunctional for past 30 days. It’s horrible !.Version: 1.6.51

Keeps shutting downTrying to use smart things app to upload my own photos for frame tv. Every time I try enter the “browse your own photos” it crashes the app - further to this it actually crashes during lots of different functions. App is completely useless. Crashes during many functions, you advertise I can put my own art on my tv yet your apps don’t let me do it. Your app doesn’t let me do anything as said above crashes every time I try do anything With it. Please fix ASAP.Version: 1.6.69

UNOPTIMISED & LaggyThis app is extremely unoptimised and has a lot of issues. Reminds of of when I used to have their smartphones. Firstly, every time I open the app, it instantly says that my washer dryer is disconnected. It will take a while before it shows up as connected. For me to control my washer dryer I have to click “Smart Control” on the washing machine. Why can’t it be intuitive and work seamlessly on the app as well as on the washer dryer itself without clicking other buttons? And you have to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME you want to use the app. The app constantly reloads when you move to other apps, and the app on the iPad is really poorly optimised. Looks extremely magnified, lack of effort has been put in. So far not good Samsung, and our washer dryer has developed a crack, and Samsung support are taking forever to get back! Also, I don’t want my Washer Dryer to sing a silly song every time it finishes and why is there no HoneKit support???? I don’t want to use your crappy SmartThings app! And have you heard of Dark Mode? Suggest you do that as well..Version: 1.6.45

App keeps crashingWhen it works, it is great. However more often than not when trying the control “the frame” the app crashes / force quits. It takes two or three attempts to get it to work..Version: 1.6.69

Samsung Heatpump Dryer won’t connectAfter trying multiple times to connect my dryer, I ended up ringing the helpline. The person I spoke to was hard to understand and actually ended up hanging up on me and didn’t call back even though she had my phone number from the beginning of the phone call. It was an hour waste of my time. The washing machine connected to the app straight away, but the dryer won’t. It seems to want to connect to its own network which does not exist, not my Wi-Fi network, which is how the washing machine connected. I find the app is really un-useful as it is unable to start the washing machine or pause it. It really does need some work to improve it’s usability. All you can do is monitor your load, or perhaps send a cycle to your machine, but someone has to turn on the machine first and then press start. To me, that is not helpful at all..Version: 1.7.10

Unresponsive AppHalf the time the devices added to the app keep going on circle. Kill app few times. Launch again. Very frustrating.Version: 1.7.05

Can even sign in on the app$2000 TV and can’t even set it up with the app should be ashamed.Version: 1.6.67

Cannot change photo on frame tvI try all the troubleshooting and I’m still unable to change the photo on my tv which kind of negates the whole purpose of having a frame tv..Version: 1.7.09

Selecting own photos is nearly impossibleI have uploaded a number of photos to this app from my iPhone. They don’t all appear in the arts section of the app. Then when I try to select a photo that is available for the Frame it doesn’t work. I get a message that the Frame is unavailable, when it is on and I am sitting right in front of it and the internet and bluetooth is working fine. This is a poor app..Version: 1.6.95

Photos no longer upload properly.Great idea in practice. Hit and miss in reality. Connectivity is an ongoing issue - more often than not when I open the app it cannot connect to the fridge and I have to reset on the fridge door. More frustrating, as a family we really enjoy the photo feature so we can look at our trips while working in the kitchen. Until recently, when I used my phone to upload photos, my photo folders were shown (favourites, screenshots etc), but this option is now gone so I have to hunt through hundreds of photos to find the ones I want rather than selecting a specific folder where I’ve saved the ones I want to upload. More annoying, and likely as a result of an update, the photos I upload don’t include the edits I’ve made - cropping, filters, colour adjustment etc are all gone. This never used to happen, and for me it’s made the app pretty much useless ☹️ Hopefully this can be corrected soon..Version: 1.6.99

IOS 17 compatibilityHonestly, it’s disheartening to see how poorly the app is performing with the latest iOS 17 update. The fact that such a reputable company like Samsung can’t seem to get their app to work smoothly with Apple updates is truly frustrating. Every time I try to use the app, it’s like playing a game of chance. I can open it without any issues, but the moment I try to interact with a device, it crashes without fail. It’s incredibly frustrating to have this happen repeatedly. I understand that technology can be complex, and there may be compatibility challenges, but it’s 2023, and we should expect better from a company like Samsung..Version: 1.7.05

Piece of crapGarbage app compared to the original. Features don’t work well, less responsive definitely a downgrade..Version: 1.6.67

Frame TV picture uploadConstant challenge to upload pictures to frame tv. Works about 10% of the time. Very frustrating..Version: 1.6.95

Appli non fonctionnel depuis la mise à jourL'appli ne fonctionne plus depuis la mise à jour. Sous iOS 17. Des qu'on clique sur lappareil l'appli se ferme..Version: 1.7.05

No! What a terrible mess!Samsung has created a horrible mess with this new app. It has massive delays to connect to the server, very poor layout, awkward GUI and process. It has ruined my home automation which I had previously championed through SmartThings. Now my doors don’t open on command my lights delay and it a general fudge to program. I have also lost my smart watch control. What were you thinking taking away a perfectly working app and replacing it with ill conceived rubbish. Listen to your customers! Don’t buy this. My home is now full of kit which no longer works properly. UPDATE where are the improvements? I still have a house of Samsung smart home kit which I have to automate using things like IFTTT as this app can’t..Version: 1.6.69

Total frustrationI own a Samsung Family Hub Refrigerator and 2 Samsung Smart TVs. The Smart Things app is useless to me. Can’t get it to connect to anything anymore. It used to be connect to my fridge. Then decided not to. All updates are current. Nope. Can’t connect. Touch screen stopped working on my fridge, replaced under warranty - lost all the photos that were loaded onto it when Smart Things did connect. The Technician who installed the new screen couldn’t help me. Why is it called Smart Things? None of my Smart devices will talk to the app. I have been so frustrated with this app for a long time. I come back to it every now and then to re-try. Hoping for some update that may be the answer. Never works. Really not enjoying my Samsung products or their app..Version: 1.7.05

Robots vacuum - ok, app - trash!New update trash: I can see status(charging, cleaning), I can tap play/pause for vacuum - and it starts cleaning and pause. But when I try to connect to Samsung vacuum by just tap on it - endless loading and the error! This app developers are dumb! ———————- I really like a quality of my samsung robot vacuum. I actually have 3 of them. But this app is a technical disaster. It’s all done wrong.. in terms if design(UI and technically, it’s not native app) and how it works overall. I know it’s too general comment, but I just don’t want to go into bugs details, so you may think - if we fix those bugs, then user will be satisfied. No. Only one thing I can see, is to create a brand new app from scratch. This way of connecting via wi-fi is very awkward, I need just Bluetooth for sure. It’s very slow, not working, showing wrong status, glitchy and so on.. all this because it’s via wi-fi and server. Right now I can’t connect to my Samsung vacuum at all! It’s not working and this is like already 3rd time happening. —— Go to Wi-Fi in your iPhone settings, then select the network that starts with [robot vacuum], [vacuum], [vacuum]_E3 Password: After connecting, return to this screen - returning and nothing happened! Tried 5 times already! App is a full crap! Returned my device! Will not buy Samsung vacuums anymore, because of this app!.Version: 1.6.94

I’d rate it Zero if I couldBought a new Samsung smart washer dryer - for the smart features. App won’t connect to it. Reported it and had a service agent over within a week of buying it. Samsung admitted the problem is the app and they’re “working on it”. 3 months later the washer still doesn’t work with it. Planning to return the washer and buy a different brand. Absolute rubbish..Version: 1.6.78

Really clunky.Basically the app is useless. You can’t turn the TV on with the app, I have both a frame TV and a Ambient mode TV, neither can be turned on with the app when they are turned off. The old Samsung SmartView app could the Frame Tv on, but they have now discontinued that app, and forced me to use the smart things app, which is h just awful. Also, for some reason ambient mode features like news and weather are not available in New Zealand. It’s simple really, just avoid this app, and if you want a smart tv avoid Samsung until they learn how to write decent software..Version: 1.6.48

Shockingly horrible as a tv remoteWhile you can technically operate your tv with this app, no sane person could stand it for long. One screen has button for the guide, but the only control in this screen moves an entire page at a time through the guide so you cannot make a selection without going to another screen in the app with different controls, like the 4pad. The 4pad screen does not have a guide button, but if you love going through several steps on your tv screen, you can navigate to it in a very stupid and inefficient way. I’ve had this tv for over a year, and I somehow thought this app would improve, but it is the same total garbage it was at the start. Obviously no one who designed this app has ever tried to actually use it or they would immediately add the guide button to a screen where the guide can actually be navigated. It does control the tv, but in t he most awful inefficient user interface possible. Why not just duplicate a small part of the actual remote? Because these app designers don’t care what makes sense or is easy to use or remotely contains basic remote functions where they are needed. This app is garbage, at least as a tv remote anyway...Version: 1.6.68

Recent updates impacting on existing integrationsStarting to feel recent updates are impacting on the stability of the overall system. App goes offline too often, device status updates can take a long time to refresh, and some devices just stop working. Starting to think about switching to home assistant if this carries on.Version: 1.6.59

Doesn’t workHad it set up and it worked once on my tv, now it will just tell me my tv is offline even though it’s on and connected. Can’t even connect my new washing machine and dryer it fails everytime even though the wifi connection is strong. Disappointed.Version: 1.6.85

Frustrating appEvery time I go to use the remote I have to click so many things. Agree to terms and conditions (everytime), agree to new Bluetooth connections (everytime) then it often takes a few seconds after that to connect to the tv. I just want an easy to use app to quickly turn on or off tv or the volume if the remote is temporarily missing (toddlers, am I right). I use it because it’s my back up, but it’s so frustrating..Version: 1.6.95

Do not update to June 2021 updateI updated to the new app and now I can’t control any device on my app. It won’t even connect to my hub( even power cycled the hub and nothing works) What’s strange is Alexa voice commands will still work. Stay away until they fix this bug filled mess..Version: 1.6.67

Awful AppIncredibly buggy trying to connect the app to a TV. Even once connected the app crashes frequently. Uploading photos to a Frame is nearly impossible. App needs to be reinstalled and bluetooth cycled every time. Latest app version installed, latest firmware on TV. UPDATE 06/22: Each new version of this app makes it worse. I use it incredibly infrequently, only to add photos to the Frame TV. As an app that is an extension of an expensive appliance, it is completely unacceptably poorly made. I strongly recommend that anyone considering buy a Samsung TV with functionality that relies on this app, to reconsider. You will not get what you pay for!.Version: 1.6.85

Great concept - if it workedI’ve had endless problems and wasted so much time trying to do simple tasks with this app. Most of the time it tells me it can’t connect to the tv (Frame) because the tv’s switched off of or not connected to the internet - which is not true because it’s usually on and streaming something at the time, and the device is definitely connected to the same network, and to the tv since I can airplay to the tv with no problem. Trying to use the app as a remote is pointless since it’s so slow to navigate to even when it is registering the tv, so the only use for the app for me is to load art to the Frame. However, after hours of troubleshooting and eventually fully resetting the tv to get it to connect to the app, as soon as I tap Art Mode the app crashes!!! Most of the art I had previously spent hours painstakingly loading and had worked fine now comes up with an error and won’t display. Apparently the only answer is to delete it all and start over, but if the app won’t even stay open I can’t do that because I’d lose it all without being able to re-add it, so I’m left stuck with the few items on the tv that will display. I can only wait and hope that gets fixed in the next update. Also, a keyboard for inputting passwords & text would make it actually useful as a remote..Version: 1.6.59

App is junkI have the latest iPhone, and one of the newest Samsung TV’s. I’m pretty advanced in my use of technology. Other apps and devices work perfectly and our home network is superb. I’d hoped to use the Samsung app as a back up to control the TV because the remote disappears occasionally in out busy house. The samsung app just doesn’t work. I managed to set up the TV initially but when I open the app it never connects to the tv. I tried to remove the TV and set it up again from scratch, but was instructed that to remove the TV you have to reset the TV to factory defaults, which is unacceptable because we have Disney, Foxtel, Prime, Binge, Telstra TV and more set up and the setting for each would all be lost. Really disappointed that I assumed that the app for a Samsung Smart TV would work really well, but it doesn’t work at all. We are fortunate that we still use Telstra TV. For all their faults, the Telstra TV is in a different league to Samsung. We have three of them and the Telstra app works every time without fail. Compare that to the Samsung app which never works..Version: 1.6.49

App Suddenly Failed After Months Without ExplanationIf there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s when you buy a new product and you do as you’re told, download the suggested apps, etc, and then something just stops working without explanation or reason. This app does only one thing, as far as I understand it, and that’s to connect to “smart” devices for Samsung. Why it should suddenly fail to do that is beyond me. I have a Samsung TV that was working perfectly with the app until one day, with no warning, it stopped. My phone (fully updated and new iPhone) connects to the TV with no problem. It connects by WiFi and by Bluetooth, but the app refuses to acknowledge that the TV is online. I’m tired of the complete lack of quality controls in making apps like this. It’s time makers of apps learned that reliability is something we care about as customers again. I’ve used the diagnostic tool dozens of times without any help. I’m tired of playing the game that I must be doing something wrong and the app is beyond reproach. No, the app failed. I haven’t changed a single aspect of how I’ve used my devices. I’m removing this crap from my phone and using a different remote. You should too..Version: 1.7.05

Extremely bad UX are frequent errors in art storeThe art UI is really, REALLY bad. Theres no decent search feature, no random feature, constantly erroring when trying to start a slideshow. I honestly cant believe someone designed this user experience. Ive been waiting for it to get better because I assumed surely they realise its a sub-standard experience but a year later it hasn’t changed. Samsung, seriously pull your finger out and completely revamp the art store!.Version: 1.6.97

One of the worst apps I have ever had to useWhere do I start? Well I am in the kitchen, looking at my washing machine but the app is insisting it is in the living room. Really, it is not, I am looking at it right here. I have pressed all the right buttons and found its own wifi channel (on a washing machine?! What is the world coming to..?) , got the correct password - honestly I have done all of this. But no, my machine doesn’t exist apparently. Except when I try to register it and then lo and behold, I can’t register it because it already exists. Aaaaargh! All I want to do is delay the start time of a wash so I can use the cheap, overnight electricity. You have made this way to complicated when a button on the front of the machine would do. I guess I’ll be setting an alarm to wake me up in the middle of the night to switch it on. Thanks for nothing, Samsung..Version: 1.6.92

Washing machine controller still not smart enoughJust updated the app and laundry controller. It still doesn’t tell me what the detergent dosage is! I have an auto-dosing machine but I can’t override from the app. Example: washing outdoor trousers that need special detergent. If I walk up to the machine and set the program for outdoor then I’m told to use neutral detergent. I get no advice when building a recipe from the app. Not just outdoor but other programmes don’t give any idea of how much (if any) detergent will be used. The machine actually just defaults to whatever level (high/medium/low) was selected last time. We have to use the manual override button on the machine just to check if any detergent will be used this time when washing towels for instance. The app is useless. I’ve raised reviews and support cases with Samsung and such a fundamental feature remains missing..Version: 1.7.05

New user, disappointed in this app.I just got my SmartThings Hub v3 yesterday. I really just need it to push to Alexa, which announces when doors open and close but I was getting quite annoyed with this app. For one there was no setting to switch the sensor to Garage mode, secondly, there is no option to allow me to set when doors are ajar, something I read could be done with SmartThings. I finally decided to get the old app, the one Samsung is planning to Sunset and wow, what a difference! That app is full featured compared to this. Not only are these options there but that app also shows me all sensor activity so that I can see exactly what's going on with the sensors. I understand that this app is new and you're moving new users towards it but it's a bad idea to do so when it's so very half baked. There are too many missing features to be directing new users to forget about the other app and use this one. Right now I have both apps installed but I use the old one mostly. Hopefully this one catches up sooner vs. later. I see nothing wrong with the old app and don't understand why this one was made..Version: 1.6.28

Simply rubbishI like the idea of The Frame TV. Conceptually I’d prefer to see pictures/art much more than TV but the issues around endless poor connection of the app (connect your TV and device to the same network - they are!) oddities where images can’t fill the screen even when they’re in 16:9. Terrible cropping of art work when a frame is used. Endless forgetting purchases and making you repurchase (despite an automated bill that has just made you pay twice). Lack of colour set up for the art side of the device make it something probably best avoided for the money. I had hoped as they are on version 3 and 4 years in it would be sorted but it’s not and there seems no interest or communication regarding fixing any of it. Maybe if less was spent on marketing and websites and more on the TV and app it might be better..Version: 1.6.36

Gradual declineI been using Smartthings for several years and although the app has a fancy front end, that can’t be said for its performance. Frequently, shuts down on both phone and ipad, takes forever to load as a result of SHM, there seems to be a permanent offset for sunset/sunrise times of around 10 mins, device handlers that operate in the cloud unreliable, automations unreliable, motion sensors for turning lights on have too great a latency- sometimes seconds, timed off after switch on fail to operate. by far my biggest issue is that it just can’t be relied upon as a serious form of home automation. I am slowly trying to migrate away from samsung but some of my zwave devices are not compatible with other hubs and are expensive to replace with another option. Where are you going with this product Samsung?.Version: 1.6.60

Doesn’t actually workIf there isn’t a way to switch the TV on, then what’s the point of having an app? I may as well carry the remote around with me. The app needs the TV to be on to then be able to connect to it. That it if it actually successfully connects, which is clunky also. App feels like a Lamb in Wolf’s clothing. Samsung need to actually make this a smart thing by allowing the user to fully control the device like be able to switch TVs on with it then be consistent and stable in its connection to that device..Version: 1.6.39

When will this app become fully smart?I want to add random times to a power outlet when im on vacation for security reasons! Also I’m having problems when selecting a period of time, the time does not allow you to go past 00:00 on that day. Example i would like a light to be on from 23:00 till 05:00, it would also be better to have warning messages come on after rather than straight away as it makes it harder to program automations! I feel this new app has a few bugs and limatations, its a shame as the samsung camera that used to work on the classic app isnt able to connet to this app, when you update to an app id expect more features not less!!! Would you expect the same? In conclusion Fixes are required!! -Allow more options in automation so you can have a multitude of apps/programs to work! - Allow your own Samsung smart cameras to work with this app. - Fix programs to be more user friendly and less clumsy, error messages that appear at the bottom would be more helpful than appearing every minute!.Version: 1.6.14

Can’t see my TVNo luck with connecting to my NU7100TV. Useless for me though..Version: 1.6.19

Absolutely pointless appBought The Frame TV purely to display art of my choice. Having spent hours and hours trying to use this app to do so, I have given up. No matter what you do (resizing pics, ensuring they are in the correct formats etc), nothing works. “System error” being the most common message, amongst just being chucked off the art mode screen. It’s so frustrating that something so simple such as transferring images to your phone via Bluetooth using this app is such a massive faff. So glad I only bought the TV for a bedroom and not as my main TV. Samsung really need to come up with an easier way of adding photos than this terrible app. And yes I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled (countless times!). First and last Samsung purchase after my experience with the usability of this app and TV..Version: 1.7.11

Easy to keep track and useWish you could turn devices on and off with the app defeats the point of using it if you have to turn the device on physically.Version: 1.6.99

FamilyHUB Merged into smart things app! AWFUl!!So if anyone has a family hub Samsung fridge BE WARNED that Samsung has made a new update the TIzEn 6.0 and IT NO LONGER SUPPORTS THE FAMILY HUB APP! Once you update the software on your fridge it’s gone.. it merged the “ features” (ya right) into the Smartthings app . You LOSE the ability to connect tithe family hub board in your fridge from your phone. You can’t write notes , change memo boards, etc.. the only feature the family board is the ability to upload photos . And by upload it’s uploading ONe at a time -slow. Your no longer able to adjust your family board pictures etc from within the APP that’s gone. ANd not only that IVe been experiencing connection problems. I had to reset everything. All the troubleshooting steps videos Yep did that . (It’s not my wifi that’s the issue ) It’s Beyond ridiculous. Taking out the family hub (which is again the basis for WHY people BUY THIS FRIDGE!!! ) is ridiculous . When you buy the fridge you buy it for the features particularity this one. How can you call it a “family hub fridge” . . I’m sure they have this in the fine print when you agree to the software update.. but I don’t think anyone was expecting for the update to get rid of the basic FAMiLY HUb FEATURES ..Version: 1.6.74

Not A Serious Hime Automation ToolYou can tell from its look that it’s a hobby toy rather than a serious professional tool. There’s far too much wasted space on the screen. Rather than neatly organized compact data you have large icons that take forever to update. If you have 30-60 smart switches, outlets and other devices, it can take forever to find the dimmer for the light over your head, and forget jumping between the controls for different devices. You frequently have to press the on/off button multiple times to get a switch to turn on or off. Each new version removes features, such as the ability to replace a device when a switch or outlet goes bad. Forcing you to add the device into automations you previously had. It frequently gets confused and forgets to turn some devices off or in per its schedule while turning others on or off that do not show up on any schedule. All in all, it’s buggy, annoying and difficult to use. Which is a shame because the first version of the tool wasn’t..Version: 1.6.68

Sick of it crashing and not frame friendlySo, I love the Samsung frame. But I don’t love the glitchy software, especially the art mode. I love using it as an extremely expensive photo viewer. The slideshow mode is random, but the worst bit is only 500mb of memory??? What the hell? Also can’t use mass storage to hold more photos that can make extra libraries. Also if I delete them I can’t save them in tryptich or collage format first ! It takes ages to make them, the app crashes all the time (iPhone pro 12 max). 1. More memory. 2. A way of saving frame collages to mass storage or the phone . 3. Stop it crashing all the time . Even more buggy now! Why on Earth can’t I save my photos that have been applied with borders and bring them back if I want??.Version: 1.6.92

Horrible AppGarbage app and garbage developers. This app worked fine for the first year I had it and lately after an update (presumably) all of my 60+ devices show up as disconnected. I can still function them if I click on them individually to see their status but in the main window they all show up as disconnected, THEREFORE, the user has no idea what the actual status of any given device is at any given time. Which makes this app useless. The whole purpose of having an app to control home automation devices is so that the user can not only control those devices but also to know the status of the devices at any time. Furthermore, to make matters worse, this app has NEVER provided a proper log of actions. The app should be keeping a log of actions for the devices so that you can view the activity log to see when a device changed status but that has NEVER worked from day one. I’ve called to complain about these issues on numerous occasions but these issues still remain unresolved. I’m very annoyed and I don’t recommend anybody to buy a Samsung SmartThings Hub nor to download and use this horrendous app. I’m going to sell my Samsung SmartThings Hub or just throw it in the garbage and buy a different brand that actually works properly and doesn’t require the user to call and complain every week about these issues..Version: 1.6.29

Just can’t connectI have 2 things: - a 65 inch frame TV. Smart things connects to the TV, but the Art functionality (the reason for buying the TV) doesn’t. You can’t connect your phone to the TV for uploading pictures. It says you have to be in the same network. Of course I am. That is not smart. - a family hub fridge. Samsung have stopped supporting the Smart Home App and replaced it with the smart things app, however the fridge software looks for a phone with Smart Home. The fridge now stops updating. Really? That is so stupid. Maybe you could rename your app Stupid Things not Smart Things.Version: 1.6.64

Good hardware, terrible softwareHardware is fine but software (including software and firmware on devices are terrible). Have a mobile, pc monitor and sound bar. They all work (mostly) fine but the software is buggy (including smart things and firmware). Why is there no local LAN support to control a sound bar? The interface on the soundbar is terrible to navigate, using the app was fine for awhile but it’s dog-slow and takes forever to switch modes. I don’t want everything to be control via cloud API. Give me local control which does not require an active connection to your servers. Next you’ll be asking for a monthly subscription fee…. Not buying anything else Samsung going forward..Version: 1.7.11

Good Start - Not Too ComplexEasy to set up and get going. I used classic and i really liked the feature that used our mobile phone as an arrival sensor. I have not been successful in getting that working again. I deleted the classic app like I was told to. I decided to use an old multi sensor to monitor the temperature in the garage. After replacing the batteries and mounting it I started getting an intrusion alert every hour and couldn’t acknowledge it. I completely deleted anything I could associated with home monitor and it is still going three days later. Hard to sleep getting an hourly alert that cannot be turned off. Samsung representative contacted me via email and presented a list if instructions to follow on the classic app. I had trouble finding the classic app on the Apple App Store, but the instructions motivated me to try again. I found the Samsung Classic SmartThings app and re-downloaded it and deleted everything I could. The notifications stopped and a Samsung SmartThings rep contacted me via email to ensure I had resolved the problem. The problem is resolved. Thank you, Samsung SmartThings team..Version: 1.6.52

Airdresser not supported in New Zealand marketI downloaded the app in order to connect to my Samsung Airdresser to access the downloadable special cycles and Clothing Care Manager features. Despite the product having been for sale in New Zealand for several months and marketing material discussing these features - the local version of SmartThings still doesn’t support the Airdresser. Contacting Customet Service isn’t much help they told me to re-read the instructions on how to connect my TV (it’s not a TV) indicating they had no idea about the product. I recheck the app weekly to see if there’s an update as I really like the Airdresser but Samsung’s technical delivery promised a lot but hasn’t delivered much to date - happy to re rate but at this time, the app is simply a memory thief until it actually is fit for purpose..Version: 1.6.51

Privacy tracking data unnecessaryWhy does the App need to ALWAYS track my location? The description says it needs to know where I am to discover other devices on my network… well my network is at home and I’m happy to allow location tracking while using the app at home, but can see no value in needing this app to ALWAYS know where I am. Come on Samsung you can do better than this blatant exploitation of location data..Version: 1.6.68

The worst smart home app on the App StoreThe worst app I have ever used for smart devices/appliances. Takes approximately 1-2 minutes to connect to the server (definitely not my internet connection) and then takes a further 30-60 seconds to connect to the appliance. Every other third party home app will connect to their respective devices within a matter of 1-3 seconds. By the time I’ve waited for the app to load, I may as well have programmed my washer the old fashion way. Please fix! It’s been like this for years with no update..Version: 1.6.89

Just awfulI am reading a couple of reviews that say this app has improved and I just can’t work out how bad it used to be. I try to use it for my The Frame TV to put up my own pictures and it is beyond bad. It isn’t actually fit for purpose. Spending so much on a TV for that functionality only to have the app controlling what personal photos can be displayed is borderline false advertising. It simply doesn’t work. It never loads your photo library and on the single occasion of the dozen of times I’ve tried that it did, the user interface is so poor I could not find any of my favourite photos to save onto the TV. I feel like writing to trading standards it’s so bad. I want the functionality I’ve paid for. This app doesn’t provide it. Shame because the TV is great..Version: 1.6.69

Almost pointlessI use this app with an oven. One of the most useful features would be to pre-warm the oven remotely. But you can’t do that... Alerts are unbelievably annoying. I don’t want a “pre-warning complete” or “cooking cancelled” alert. I just want cooking finished. But I cannot choose which alerts to have. Why are we restricted to only viewing certain recipes depending on whether the divider (I have a dual oven) is fitted or not? Why can’t I just browse? Also why can’t I add recipes? The list of recipes is ridiculously limited and hence utterly pointless. It seems to me that the app is made by people who do not use it. It idea not take long to identify its shortcomings simply by giving it a go. So why don’t the developers use it for a while? Sadly the same can be said of their ovens (I have two different ones). Both are clearly designed without anyone on the design team who either fools or cleans! If anyone ok the design team did either or these things the prototype would have gone back to the drawing board and not into production....Version: 1.6.65

Art mode - buggy and hard to useArt mode keeps crashing. When it runs it’s slow and painful to add your own images. Lacks the ability to add custom sized or colour mats. I wish someone would come up with something better..Version: 1.6.89

DisappointingI have a Samsung smart fridge (an older version). Samsung family hub worked fantastic, especially for uploading pictures. Now that Samsung decided to discontinue this and force us to use SmartThings, I can never connect to my fridge since the app does not recognize a slightly older version fridge. I can no longer use any of the options for the fridge I was able to use before (shopping list, see inside - very helpful when at the store) etc. This is very disappointing and considering the amount of money we spend on appliances which should at least last 5+ year you would expect that if forced to use this app, Samsung would have ensured it worked properly and was compatible with older version smart fridges..Version: 1.7.02

Rarely works when you need itThis app rarely works. Often you are unexpectedly logged out when launching the app or the devices that were connected a while ago are now disconnected, appear offline, even if they’re online and actively using the internet. You often have to reconnect devices via a lengthy authentication process, which makes the app useless in that moment you need it to achieve something quickly doing it the old way instead..Version: 1.7.09

Can’t upload photo to FRAME tvOnly way you can change the frame tv image is paying for subscription to use images - the app is broken so you can’t even upload or use your own images - yet this is the selling point of the frame tv?? It’s 2023 and you can’t even make a basic thing like uploading a photo work… there is complaints all over the internet but Samsung don’t care about their customers.Version: 1.7.02

Invasion of privacyLet the app upgrade from the previous. First time I used it, it wanted access to my location. Why? There is no valid technical reason for this. It can’t communicate to my TV that is on the same network as my iPad? But yet if I don’t allow you to know my exact location for some reason you can’t allow it to communicate with my TV that it obviously can communicate with easily? It is obvious they want location information for their purposes (use and sell my data) not mine and then they lie about it’s technically required. No it’s required because you want to snoop into where I live and figure out who I am through tracking. It’s none of your business, simply put. I just bought a new TV. Guess what? It’s not a slimy company that wants my data in order to use features I already paid for. Thank you for showing me how dishonest you are. It helped guide my new purchases to far more reputable companies. I usually move outdated TV’s/devices to less used locations (bedrooms, etc..). I won’t be allowing you in my home any longer. Ba-bye. The app has always been limited in usefulness anyway. Turn it up, turn it down, mute, and turn it off. Ya can’t turn on the TV with it because it needs it on to communicate. If you don’t use their streaming apps on it then that’s the full benefit of the app..Version: 1.6.55

Notifications are broken for over a yearOriginally, the washing machine didn’t send any notifications to the app, then it did for at least 3 months which was fantastic - the w/m didn’t need to be in Smart mode, it just worked and we both got the handy reminders on wash completion. Then after May 2019, no more notifications which is infuriating as the machine cost over £1000 and was sold with this feature. Note that both our Samsung TVs do receive them, just not the app, so they a) are being sent from the machine to Samsung and b) being sent back to Samsung devices, but not to Apple devices - I bet if I had a Samsung phone, we’d receive them. What baffles me, is this isn’t hard to fix, the issue just needs debugging and fixing, yet here we are a year later and still broken..Version: 1.6.48

A black eye for SamsungAs the title says, this app is a black eye for an otherwise impressive company, Samsung and SmartThings. I bought into SmartThings over 5 years ago, and have gradually added more of my home automation to its ecosystem over the following years. SmartThings Classic was never perfect, but it got the job done and I learned to live with the deficiencies. Over the last couple years I have periodically checked in on the “new” SmartThings app to see if it was ready for prime time, and regrettably it never was. So recently when I was notified that support for ST classic was ending, I naively believed that the new app had finally eclipsed the classic app, but boy was I wrong. I won’t go into the details, as all the other reviewers have already listed my complaints, but in almost every way the new app is a step backwards. It is so bad that I am beginning to wonder if this is a poison pill by Samsung designed to kill off the SmartThings line over time. To those responsible, please either start over and create an entirely new app, or bring back and improve upon SmartThings Classic. As it stands I am no longer buying any more devices or spending any more money within the SmartThings environment..Version: 1.6.55

Crappy TV remoteI was super excited to have a remote on my phone so that I never have to search for the actual remote again. Sadly, the TV remote on this app is terrible. The number one issue is that if I switch to use another app on my phone, then come back to the remote, it is no longer ready to go. I have to select the TV option from the app’s home screen again and wait for the remote to open. Why can’t it just stay open so I can flip between apps? By the time I get the dang thing open, Netflix is already playing the next show or preview! I don’t even have any other smart devices in my house—why do I need to select “TV” to even get to the remote every time? I wish I could bookmark the remote somehow so that it automatically opens when I open the app (and have it STAY open even when I swap to read a text or email). Secondly, why does the remote have a huge square button with tiny little arrow buttons around it to navigate with? Swiping across the button to navigate is clunky and not intuitive. Get rid of that and just make the arrow buttons bigger!.Version: 1.6.37

Worst app everWe bought a Samsung refrigerator when we remodeled our kitchen we were very excited that we would be able to create shopping lists on the refrigerator and retrieve them from our phones. Initially, this worked great! Less than a year after we bought our refrigerator we were forced to use the smart things app. Since then, we have not had any functionality between the app and our refrigerator. I have downloaded and deleted and downloaded this app again and again, gone through all of the steps that they keep telling me I need to go through and yet nothing works. I am so frustrated I spent so much money on this refrigerator and because of a stupid app that doesn’t work, the functionality that I wanted in the refrigerator is completely absent! Follow up: I had minimal functionality in being able to put items on my list ON the refrigerator, which I could take a pic of on my phone. Now, this functionality has been removed as well. A new “update” has been installed and I am being asked to sign up for the new functionality. I have tried MULTIPLE TIMES and I continually get a “something went wrong, try again later.” This entire app is a piece of you know what, how do I get my money back?!? DO NOT BUY A FRIDGE IF IT COMES WITH THIS SOFTWARE!!!.Version: 1.7.02

Apple iPhone and this app don’t work 98%So disappointed in the way iPhone and the frame struggle at the best of times to upload photos. Major PITA!!! First world problems 😉.Version: 1.6.95

Connection impossibleL app ne peut même pas ce connecter au conte ou a juste une page blanche. ipad air 2..Version: 1.6.36

Should be so much betterPreviously I gave the app 3 stars, it was functional and got stuff done. Recent updates have rendered it unreliable, it can never find my Tv (yet Alexa can), and so it’s not worth using - even though we have an expensive TV. Shame (and so glad I got a Bosch washing machine, as that app is much more reliable). Previously - Since the recent update its useless as it constantly wants me to login. This makes it useless for quickly turning off the tv or running other automations. I was considering buying a Samsung washing machine and dryer - thinking that I was familiar with the app , but if this is the way they support their products then no thanks ….Version: 1.6.92

Location access should be optionalThis app won’t work without granting access to location. Sure, I get that If you choose to automate based on location then location is something you would need to grant. However, if you just want to configure functions of a multi thousand $$ device you have purchased, or turn on a TV, you should not have to provide Samsung your 24x7 location. Samsung should immediately reconfigure this application to make location sharing optional. I’d consider not buying Samsung products till they do..Version: 1.6.51

Terrible, avoid any Samsung productsAfter spending $10,000 on a Samsung ducted Aircon system with remote connection you’d think it would work? Wrong! 2 weeks in and I haven’t connected once, I’ve contacted Samsung support and a week later still no connection, the instructions provided are in broken English. I downloaded the app in the instructions only to be told it’s actually the wrong app and to get this one. The previous app had 64 x 1 star reviews out of 64 reviews and this new app it just as bad. I’ve worked in IT for 25 years so I am no stranger to technology and this product has killed my inner nerd. Do the Smart Thing and avoid Samsung products, it will save you the frustration of dealing with unfinished, semi developed and abandoned products..Version: 1.6.37

Newest update broken but looks goodI was excited to see that they had vastly improved the app interface. Except now nothing in the app works. I can’t connect to my sensors to see data, the widget button presses do nothing, I can’t move things from room to room. It says it can’t connect. Existing scenes work when launched from the app and automated system is still working though..Version: 1.6.67

Unstable some TV features only available through this appI recently purchased the Samsung frame tv and used this app to add photos. At first it worked perfectly but after the latest update, the app crashes every 10-30 seconds and freezes before crashing if I try to add photos or make a collage. The fact that I can’t do this on the tv itself is freaking ludicrous and beyond me as well, why rely on a buggy underbaked and slow app?!?.Version: 1.6.69

Caution: Never buy Samsung appliancesI renovated my entire home and purchased Samsung appliances, TVs and products. It was a terrible decision. Each one of the appliances (fridge, stove, combo microwave unit, dishwasher) has malfunctioned, broken down and needed technician repair. The SmartThings app has few features, freezes constantly and after I changed my wifi router, it won’t even connect to the new network (it also stupidly doesn’t give you the option to reconnect to the new network). So none of my “smart” devices are even connected. It may seem “cool” to have Samsung products, but trust me when I say it’s not worth the money or headache..Version: 1.6.65

The Frame TVThe Samsung website still refers to a discontinued app for use with The Frame TV. Once I worked out this was the correct app and learned how to format photos to fit the screen I was able to upload photos. I have to reset the Bluetooth connection every time I use app and also delete the app and reinstall it when I want to add new photos as the ‘browse photos’ function drops off every time I close the app. Functional with some work around but annoying..Version: 1.6.63

Poor functionality for a high end brandJust got a Samsung Frame TV, this remote makes the functionality of the TV relatively poor. There is no obvious way to have a full keyboard to sighn into accounts or type letters other than a old school click of a mouse. All the buttons are hard to use and i find it almost pointless trying to use it. This app ruins the experience of what is a expensive tv. In the long run ending up using most stuff through google chrome as the functionality is way better..Version: 1.6.55

Important features removedA key feature of this app was the ability to upload photos and mount them on the Frame TV (as part of Art Mode). While it was buggy, it worked much of the time. It looks like Samsung has removed this feature, which makes it much more difficult and time consuming to get photos onto the TV (involving multiple steps on a PC and memory stick). Customer services didn’t seem to understand that this wasn’t simply screen sharing and haven’t replied to my second follow up. I would now caution against buying the Samsung Frame TV, whereas before I would have recommended it. To the developers - please reinstate this feature of the app or provide a standalone one for the Frame TV to give it its full functionality back again. Thanks in advance.Version: 1.6.55

Doesnt work half the time.I’ve just purchased a new samsung washer (model ww10m86dqoa/eu) tried to connect it via the instructed methods with all attempts getting to 98% and then failing to connect. Tried via both my iphone and ipad with the same results. The app mentions models which are only available in india but i am in the uk so it seems the app is confused on gps location which potentially is causing this problem. Edit: i have since dropped my wifi password down to 8 characters in length with no complexity in the password and it attaches no problem. But as soon as i use % or other symbols in the wifi password or exceed 8 characters in length the app is unable to connect to the machine. I hope this helps other people suffering with this problem. To samsung i hope this can be resolved with upcoming releases.Version: 1.6.48

Total Rubbish… GrrrrrrThe new version of SmartThings should be avoided at all costs. None of my devices worked following the upgrade. After logging out and changing my password all my confit has gone missing. Hours of work wasted. The developers should be sacked. How could you let this rubbish onto the AppStore. I am so enraged I have decided to sell all my SamsungDumbThings and go with competitor!!!! Update: If you have any difficulties like me redownload the app. Luckily my config is still there. Seriously though, why should I have to do this to get it working? Once installed it should just work right? Wrong!.Version: 1.6.67

Really bad TV remoteWhat a useless pos app for controlling the TV - I don’t really know where to start. The actual TV controller is clunky af - the 4D control is like it’s on crack, barely useable the way it skips all over the screen. There’s no option to enter text - only numbers, so it’s back to shooting letters on te screen with an almost unusable TV controller. Then selecting the apps - means jumping out of the controller. Who the heck came up with these bad ideas?.Version: 1.6.98

Another UI upgrade & widgets brokenSamsung team. Why do you insist on removing core features - the old IOS widget was already very limited with 8 options max, and text very small etc. But to take that and make it 4 shortcuts that don't work by themselves and instead open the app then runs the scene is a joke. Mostly the widget says open smart things so just dumb and not tested - what a useful upgrade. Still no apple shortcuts support, this would solve it also. To workaround this I now have to create more pistons in webcore and then link that up with IOS shortcuts to be able to have easy ways to run scenes from a simple widget - why oh why do you make it harder for your real users, I am fed up of silly UI changes that are fine but not needed and stuff that we actually want never done but instead taken away. Please reflect on real word users of smartthings for a smart home i.e. sensors and relays and not just TVs / washing machines. I will be leaving due to this continual development in the wrong direction time and time again.Version: 1.6.67

Won’t load or connectWhat a pc of $h/t app you created. Can’t login on one device, won’t load on another. Are you actually trying to drive people away from your products?! I am so glad that at least one device has the old version so I can actually control my house properly. Seriously get your crap together..Version: 1.6.67

NullLes informaticiens de SmartThings sont null. Plus il font des mises à jour moins cela marche. C’est de pire en pire. Je quitte SmartThings pour Hubita!!!!.Version: 1.6.67

ForgetYourThingsThinking this app should be named forget your things instead, as I have this hooked up to two TV’s which I only use the app for on rare occasions where I would prefer to use the keyboard on my phone instead of the remote. For some unknown reason the devices stop showing as connected and online on the app after a period of not using it, which is annoying as I don't want to have to diagnose it and re add it every time I want to use it. Far from smart in my opinion, and doesn't happen with any other apps smart devices hub that I use..Version: 1.7.09

Slow, inconsistent, logs you out loadsFor an app that built for Smart Homes to make life easier this app fails! The app load time is horrific, it opens quick but then half the items load/appear after and then it takes even longer to realise it’s state so you can turn it off and on.. and more often than not you toggle the device and get a pop up saying it’s connection to the internet. VERY painful. On top of that the app keep logging you out every few days and the sign in requires 2FA via text and then it frustratingly takes time to resynchronise all your devices and favourites after several for closes of the app. So to quickly turn on a light you find yourself in a dark room fumbling with a web app authentication and text message codes.. Oh, and did I mention that you can’t even search for a device by name? No… you have to either have it as a favourite or scroll through rooms that are again painful to organise ordering and numbering.. Honestly, best thing to do is link it to Google Home and use its interface. It’s still work in progress from Google but a dam sight better than SmartThings app. The Dev, Design, and UAT team have a lot to answer for! Although I suspect it’s all one person in their spare time judging by output..Version: 1.6.75

Disappointed with SamsungI bought this hub for my home before I started my renovations and did a few trial installations to see how it behaved. The end result is the experiment flopped, and thankfully I wired one room already in such a way as not to depend on the hub but to have a default where if the hub fails that I could still have lights operate normally. I connected 5 lutron caseta switches. Here is were I was disappointed with my purchase, one switch is for the bathroom exhaust fan where if I open up the options page for that switch on the phone app, it gives me an option to set the time of day or a particular day to shut off the switch, also another option is to shut the switch off at a preselected time after the switch is turned on. I selected the maximum of 1 hour. And back away from that setting for it to take effect. It worked but it will not repeat again the next time the switch is turned on. For me to have that option, I have to open up the app first and that takes several seconds before it populates the screen. Then I have to select the switch on my screen, once it opens up, I have to go into options page for that switch and select the timer off setting. If I count all that time, it usually takes at least 12 seconds. There is no choice here but to do this each and every time I want to use that feature. My fans tends to stay on a lot, as I leave home right after a shower. Another example is I have used their feature called, “if this, then that”. And this I use when I turn on the exhaust fan, the bathroom lights turn on in dim mode. And that feature works 75% of the time, the other 25% is for the reason that all programming resides on the SmartThings server and if there is an interference in the signal for my wifi, it will not operate. I’ve watched this for 6 months now and for my location it will not work 25% of the time. Also, when it does work, it will have a delay of 3 to 6 seconds for the lights to turn on, and I learned that the reason for that is it has to go out to their server and back to my home instead of going from my SmartThings hub to my Lutron hub which are physical side by side. That is also annoying. I’m surprised with Samsung that they would allow their name on this hub as it has too many limitations and could easily be programmed to clear up the flaws, yet they don’t. I’ll be putting it back in a box and selling it soon..Version: 1.6.49

Classic is a much better appI don’t know if I’m just too dumb or I’m missing something, but I can’t figure out the new app. My presence sensors are gone and I can’t find my routines. I set up an automation to replace one of my routines and it didn’t work. I don’t enjoy the layout and it seems to not give me nearly as easy of a time navigating. I’m planning to stay classic as long as possible. If I knew that the new app would be like this, I wouldn’t have gone with Samsung as my hub. Wanted to like the new app, but it’s just not working for me. *edited to respond to chelsea* Hey Chelsea! Thanks for responding!! I appreciate it :) Unfortunately, I received a notification that it was time to switch over. And not only that, but the classic app would not disarm so every time we moved or opened a door in the house, we’d get notifications. Our only option was to switch over. I think I figured out automations, but my routines are gone. My presence and my husbands are not recognized. I just can’t seem to figure out how this was supposed to be a smooth transition when most of my devices and routines didn’t transfer over. I’d love to switch back to classic for good..Version: 1.6.14

Bad updateSince the update, I can no longer use the track pad in the TV remote section of the app. I can only use the top part (volume, home, etc...). Please fix this ASAP. I use this app all the time and now it is useless..Version: 1.6.47

IOS17 installed then nothing....Since I got my iPhone and iPad upgraded to iOS17, this app is bricked. I mean the app opens, but as soon as you select one of your appliances the app crashes. Now a useless app..Version: 1.7.05

ConnectionThis is the most inconsistent App on any my devices. When it works, it’s great. However, it works less than 10% of the time. I have three (recent) Samsung TV’s and they all have the same issue - connection lost. I have reinstalled the App numerous times, re added the devices etc to no avail. Disappointing for a Samsung product..Version: 1.6.99

Okay but limited functionalityIt’s useful to be able to control my heating and hot water, in terms of turning it in or off or setting a schedule to do it automatically. However that is it in terms of functionality for the scheduling system, I can’t do anything more useful such as changing the temperature of the heating or any of the configuration. For example, I would like to reduce the temperature after a certain point in the evening, but have it rise again before I get up in the morning. Unfortunately the scheduler only lets me turn it off and on. Strangely Samsung don’t have the concept of an air sourced heat pump in the devices category, it has to be classed as an air conditioning unit. Maybe once they realise these things have been around for a while (they do make them), they may improve the limited functionality..Version: 1.7.09

Connection issue!Every time Samsung pushes a new version, something broke. This time the app lost connection to all devices. I could still see their status but not able to operate any. Pay your software developers more and hire competent people please!.Version: 1.6.67

Good entry level but missing simple functionsI like the simplicity of use, supported products and integration but a little less thrilled with the detail of control in particularly the inability to have multiple conditions per device or even use the same device as a condition as well as an action. Like if the light is off turn it on. Only one condition per device is pretty limiting. Also the lack of sensitivity adjustments for devices like the motion sensor or multipurpose sensor are troubling. Seems like it would be a simple adjustment. Like the multipurpose vibration sensitivity goes off every time the auto lock engages. Would probably fix this with a statement that looks for vibration duration longer than 1 second, but I can’t reduce the time that low. Wait my bad can’t reduce the duration at all. At least not with the default app. I give it a bump up because there is an integration app to make some/most of these things possible. Overall it’s a solid entry level product but if you are looking for more detailed automation Samsung isn’t quite there yet. Hopefully sometime soon. Update: One thing I’m very unhappy with is every device takes a different size battery. And most these batteries are NOT easily available at your local store/Walmart..Version: 1.6.57

Samsung TVNow responding great on iPhone app, but still really basic compared to TechniSat. Remote recording function would be a massive bonus. UPnP would also add massive value. Being able to change between tuners whilst recording is definitely how to move forward. I should be able to switch from Sat to Ter whilst recording. There are multiple tuners in the TV. Cable Tuner is not required and useless in the UK! I should be able to record 2 channels from satellite/freesat, as have dual input, and switch to Terrestrial TV, record 1 channel and watch another terrestrial channel at minimum. You are limited to the tuner you are using the moment you start recording and can’t switch sources. It’s rubbish in that respect. I may as well have my sat box connected for satellite and the Ariel plugged in the TV, defeating the main objective of having a TV that does all. The App is so basic. You should be able to pull up the TV guide and set a recording. It’s just a basic remote. Nothing special. Some of the app remotes are better as they actually do more..!.Version: 1.6.65

App poorly designedHi Team, Though the UX is designed well, it appears that the main app useability was not kept in mind. 1. I created my Samsung account when I was in India. When I moved to Australia and bought a Samsung device, it just wouldn’t show up in the app. Ultimately I figured out the problem, created a new account with a new mail Id specifically created for this purpose and then was able to use the device. How did the designers assume that a user will not move countries? Could they have given the provision to change their account country? 2. My device is now , for some reason, not able to connect to the app. The app shows ‘remotely locked’ . As a user, there should be specific reason provided for why the device is remotely locked. How else would one be able to resolve issues??? These are very basic designing aspects, isn’t it ????.Version: 1.6.48

UnusableUnable to operate 2021 ‘Frame TV’ with ios 14.7.1 as it keeps on crashing. I have persisted for days trying everything to get it to work… and in desperation just ended up deleting the App completely. This is my first Samsung product and I can’t believe that a company as large and as profitable as this would choose to produce (and release) something so buggy and inoperable. If I could give a zero star rating I surely would!.Version: 1.6.69

Absolutely awful for controlling smart TVRecently upgraded to a smart tv from an old tv with chromecast and this app is so much worse at doing anything related to TV control than google home. Everything from the icon to enter the tv controls having the larger portion turning the tv off rather than enter the remote mode to the awful scrolling mechanism within it. Controlling the tv with this app is a nightmare..Version: 1.6.33

Not as user friendly as it could beI enjoy using the app, but the app is built with the assumption that the user has a lot of Samsung/smarthings devices. I only use the app to use the TV remote and unfortunately there is no easy way to access this (via a widget or the control centre (iPhone)) the only option is to have a widget that doesn’t correlate to what I want to use. Making the app more accessible should be an easy fix that I imagine a lot of people would enjoy it as the idea of using smart devices is to make life easier/quicker/simpler..Version: 1.7.10

Buggy & poor user experienceYou would think that a company with billions in revenue could make a reliable, easy to use app. Well, think again. The app is complex, probably because they want to maximise the user data they collect from you, therefore a lot of things go wrong. Disconnects from the TV, can’t find TV again, you have to delete your previous settings then start again. It’s all a pain and time consuming..Version: 1.7.09

Washing machineBought the washer thought I could control it over internet ie to switch on 1hr before I come home from work as my schedule changes daily. The smart things app seemed the way to go. I should of read the reviews. Anyhow works fine over wifi (but what’s the use of that I’m home) but when I leave home and try over the internet the app gives me the status of the washer but try to select the washer the app crashes. Update I’m now at a wifi hotspot (Tesco) and can control the washer it’s strange that I can’t straight from me phone network. So I’ll now up from 1 star to 2.Version: 1.6.83

Misses the markDisclaimer: I only use this app to control my Samsung smart tv. I have three issues with the app. One, it is incredibly slow to load the remote control portion. By the time I launch the app, wait for the tv to show up in the appropriate room, then launch the remote, enough time has passed that I could have refilled my glass of water, ordered a pizza, then dug the remote out from the sofa cushions and changed the channel. It's even worse since an update a few months back where when I finally do get to the remote section, the tracking pad is hidden under a ”Show more” revealer. Second, the inability to use my phone’s keyboard is absurd. If I have to enter a lengthy password, the last thing I want to do is click button by button with the remote when I can just type it in, or better yet, just auto-fill with 1Password. I forget what my third issue was now but I know it wasn't a big deal, so I’ll leave it at those two. Not sure how to fix the first, but the second should be a no-brainer..Version: 1.6.48

Extremely frustratedI naught a Samsung robot vacuum - never owned Samsung I have all apple devices. So I thought I’d spend over $500 on this vacuum, tried the app for iOS... not too bad but from reviews and watching the google play app and says that with the app you can map your home with the vacuum. So heck I decided to buy a Samsung tablet just for the app ($200) to be exact. I then realised NOPE once you download the app it asks you to either sign up or log in with existing account... so I did. Well it then takes you to a webpage where NOTHING happens , you get an error page that says “this web page is not available “ ?? Tried to go to support page and chat and even that was not helpful at all the guys or girl on the other end just stop responding!! I need a refund and this app is just so disappointing... hence why I will always have apple products I really regret even trying!.Version: 1.6.19

Are you stupid? After this update its impossible to connect to the hub... A great piece of hardware ruined by idiots programmer... Bye bye Samsung... I'll don't even bother to sell my 2 hubs, I don't want more people to be stuck with this piece of junk..Version: 1.6.67

App works well, could use some more featuresThe app is smooth, seems to work via the cloud with no local connection. It t would load much quicker with local connections. Also with soundbars it should show what format is being received, like Dolby THD ATMOS, DD+ ATMOS, DD, DTS..Version: 1.6.99

Bad replacement for family hub for my refrigeratorFirst of all I am annoyed with the inability to mark filter as replaced if it is not of the Samsung brand, only takes me to buy new option, does not allow me to manually reset counter. I have a feeling that the filter reset counter updates with purchase, on the Samsung website, since it doesn’t seem to have any other options except buy new. Pictures: Now you can only upload one picture at a time, and “uploaded” picture doesn’t always show up on the fridge. Before the update I had a bunch of my favorite pictures arranged on family board, now it’s limited to only 5!!!! :( You can’t browse and see what pictures are already uploaded via the app, need to check the fridge itself. This option would be helpful to check if the upload went through, and since it’s 1 pic at a time to see what pictures are already there. I do like that you can do a slideshow of pictures on family board, but it’s still only 5, so might as well run the album slide show. So for me the only practical use of the app is like a bad usb to push one picture at a time to the fridge. You can literally plug in a usb into the fridge itself… which I would recommend to do if you are setting up from scratch and have a lot of pictures to add..Version: 1.6.69

Don’t buy a Frame TVI have been messing with this app for no less than 3 hours today to upload winter images to my TV. Usually my issue is that my TV shows offline in this app and I have to mess around to get it to show online to then allow me to add photos. However, today the “Add My Photos” selection in Art Mode is dimmed out/not an option. When I click “Browse” and then “My Collection,” all the way to the left of my images there is an image box that is circling and it says “uploading image.” It dawned on me to see if the app had a recent update as I was able to add pics 2 months ago. And sure enough - apparently Samsung rendered useless the only feature that makes this TV worthwhile. I certainly hope they plan to institute a fix much sooner than later! As much as I love the Art Mode option when it’s working, I don’t think I would buy another Frame TV after these headaches. (Also - their customer support in their online community is atrocious when it comes to Art Mode/Frame TV/SmartThings app issues… so many issue/posts spanning over 2 years and Samsung’s support offered no helpful information.).Version: 1.6.92

April updateFixed my issue with alarm notifications and appreciate the other improvements made with the April release. Thanks. In most part I’m 100% in agreement with the previous review about the new Feb 2019 update. However, once I changed(Reorder) the home page, I do not have the issue with my home page resetting back to the default after I close the app & then reopen it on my iOS device. And who uses the term “Reorder” to to identify the procedure to rearrange, edit or manage the home screen? I originally thought it was for reordering of more devices. I do agree there is too much wasted space and would prefer the information being a little more condensed vs. having to scroll down the page. And, I also agree with the alerts/alarms. I’ve checked my settings numerous times, but if my iPhone is locked or if I do not have the App open, I do not receive /hear any notification from the App of a sensor being tripped. Notification can be resolved with IFTTT but would think the App itself would be able to provide that notification. I would the ability to remove a room from the home page, but have yet to find a way to do so. I do appreciate the improvements that Samsung made in an effort to improve the App and suspect there is a learning curve on my part, but I would like the user to have the capability/flexibility to manage their home screen the way the user wants it vs how Samsung thinks it should be..Version: 1.6.29

UselessI'm writing this review while I wait for my machine to be ready again. Have the app for a washing machine. It's terrible. If you only use it occasionally then every time you launch the app it will go into some downloading mode on the washing machine which means you then can't use the app to set the delay start or what ever basic function you want, first you have to wait at least 10 minutes before it will be ready. Don't bother with the app..Version: 1.7.02

Getting betterI’m impressed that Samsung keeps working to improve the app. My concern is they think (IMHO) that this is all about automation. Well it is called home automation, but it is also about keeping an eye on your home while you’re away for any major issues. I am fortunate enough to have my home in Florida and a cottage in Michigan. I think you’ll know where I am in the summer and winter. I monitor the home in Florida for humidity (I don’t want mold), temperature and water leaks. In the winter I monitor the cottage for temperature and water leaks. The new and classic SmartThings app needs to have better notifications. How about a badge on the app icon if there is something out of range? How about having the ‘tiles’ in the app change color to red if a sensor has a warning (the little red dot isn’t sufficient)? Those are just two little things that would make the app more useful and user friendly. I believe that it would be more helpful if at a glance the end user can see if the lights are on, there is motion, the dishwasher is leaking, the air conditioner isn’t keeping the humidity down... you get the idea..Version: 1.6.42

This app works great if you want to completely replace your remoteI added this app and paired it to my Smart TV. Everything worked through the app but suddenly the remote failed to pair to the TV. The power button worked, but that is the only non-Bluetooth component on the remote. Every other button failed to work. Why on earth would this app stop the remote, which came with the TV, from working. It’s both annoying and was frustrating to figure out why the remote just failed. There is obviously a define flaw in both the remote and app..Version: 1.6.86

Mise à jour avec iOS 17.0.3Même pas capable d’avoir accès à mes électroménagers depuis la mise à jour. L’application se referme automatiquement! Très déçu!.Version: 1.7.05

Merely Eye CandyI use this app as little as possible. While I appreciate the modernized look from the classic version of this app, it is virtually unusable now. After I migrated, I had to rebuild all my automations because they changed the methodology. After struggling through that, I finally had the house reacting the way I wanted it to but spend a lot of time doing something that I shouldn’t have had to do for an app update. Every since migration to the new app, it takes forever to get the app to update the status of devices. It isn’t just slow, it is minutes slow. So if I want to toggle a light, I can do a lap around the house and touch every light switch in the house before I even know the status in the app. What’s the point? Then 75% of the time I’ll get an error after attempting to toggle the light. Until Samsung fixes the connection issues, my advice is to use this only to setup your house and not use this to manipulate devices. Default to google home or Alexa for manipulation..Version: 1.6.69

Does not workThis app is rubbish, it will not allow you to load pictures onto ArtMode, if you try to edit the picture comes up blank on the frame tv. The old app worked fine for us, this new one does not. Come on Samsung get this fixed, we brought this expensive Frame TV for the Art Mode function which we can’t use know. We are using an IPad to do this, it was all ok on the old app, when is this going to be fixed?.Version: 1.6.64

GoodluckGetting devices connected to this app is a game dumb luck and perseverance. Sometimes you can’t select your wifi network, other-times it doesn't register your wifi password. I follow instructions closely and am tech savvy, and whilst i managed to get my new dryer connected for a few weeks, a simple wifi password change on my network has rendered the “smart” features of my dryer unusable. After spending another 30 minutes trying to get it connected, I’ve decided I can’t be bothered. Don’t buy Samsung white goods for their smart features. Its hopeless. Otherwise, great dryer..Version: 1.6.82

Good, but updates need tweakingThis is a good app for controlling devices however every time there is an update the tv devices have to be deleted and added back into the app to make them active. Once you update the app, delete the tv device and add them back you get a message saying they belong to another account. Would be a great app if you didn’t have to do this every time you update..Version: 1.6.94

Constantly loses pairings and needs full resetI have a washer dryer and find that while the app is quite good, lots of information and explanation is missing in the UX, like why you can't set any cycle with drying included on a delay. You can do it on the machine itself, so why not in the app? The much greater problem is that at least once every three weeks the app can't connect to the machine any more, so I have to erase the washer and re-connect it as a new device. I don't have to do this with any other smarthome gear I have, and definitely won't be buying any more Samsung smart devices until this is resolved. I just can't trust them to work reliably..Version: 1.6.48

Impossible to load own photos to Samsung Frame tvFrustrating that Load Your Own photos in app is greyed out leaving the Art choices from Samsung collection. I have a maybe 3 year old tv and was able to use my own photos on the defunct SmartView app but not with this app..Version: 1.6.92

Devices not working after latest updateYou need to fix this, nothing works now after latest update..Version: 1.6.67

Whisky Tango FoxtrotWhile I appreciate the new interface, the new app update has rendered my entire smart home setup completely useless. Almost everything stopped working. None of SmartThings contact sensors turn on/light anymore. All automations, while there, don’t actually do anything. Alexa integration is gone. All the settings are there, but nothing actually responds. Hue integration is broken. All devices show up, but they they can’t be operated through the app and don’t respond to automations. Tried removing Hue hubs, but now they won’t even add. I never had this issue before, Hue hubs used to pair nicely. Now I get “something went wrong” and instructions on adding a Hue hub are not scrollable. A one-finger move only nudges the screen part of the way, and one needs need more fingers to scroll further. Why??? Please bring the old app back until this one is fixed. A nice interface does me no good. In fact once everything is set up properly, In a smart home one would *not* need to open the app often..Version: 1.6.67

Do not recommend!! Extremely poor service and AppI managed to successfully add 2 devices (TV and Soundbar) however the app has to wait anywhere from 5-10 seconds to connect to the server before you can use it and even then the status keeps flicking to offline (I have a super stable and fast internet connection this is not my end). Also you cant use the app to turn on the TV so whats the point. Tried adding my washer however it timed out every time during set up. Called the helpline and they were useless. Managed to eventually add the dryer but had to use a Samsung phone (who would have thought). On the Samsung the washer also keeps going offline. On my Iphone it displays but when I click on it it tries and gets me to reregister the device? What a joke..Version: 1.6.86

Privacy ConcernsWhy does Samsung require your location at all times to use simple features? The application requires an account and your location at all times for even simple features to be enabled. When I turned off location access in my phone a number of features disappeared. So I set my location manually and the features reappeared but do not work. If I am not using a feature that requires my location, why does it disappear? In today’s age of privacy concerns, should not be a requirement and should make people suspicious of what Samsung is doing with your information..Version: 1.6.65

So slow! What do you want from home automation? Normally speed, ease of use, anything that makes your life easier. However you don’t get that this with this app. When you open it it says it’s connecting, then it says it’s downloading controllers which it downloaded yesterday, then it connect to the device, then it gives you the status which may or may not be correct. All of which time you’ve lost the Will to life and your wife says, “can’t I just use the light switch?!” It used to be okay, and then over the last few years it’s turned to rubbish. If the Alexa integration was better, ie you could query the status of devices, you’ve never need to go in to the app other than setup..Version: 1.6.82

Very Unreliable platform and poor customer serviceI have used SmartThings for years I used to have my whole home on the platform with many sensors. Over the years the platform has been very unreliable and Samsung have a habit of not supporting existing connected products with arbitrary user effecting changes made which seem to ignore the wishes of their customer base. Today if a device stops working in my home there is a 90% chance it’s on this platform with a bug or a product withdrawal. I have a box of sensors I have abandoned. I have now migrated most things away from the platform, and eventually I will get rid of the hub. It is a shame there was so much potential, however the reliability is often so poor it’s unusable but it’s the way they make changes that remove existing functionality I feel is really unacceptable.Version: 1.7.05

Constantly fails to connect to Frame TVI really want to like this app. It has huge potential and IMO is more sophisticated than HomeKit, Google Home, etc. Now that Matter is a reality, I want this to be my go-to app for smart home control. The energy saving section is well thought out, with huge potential… However, it is very disappointing that this Samsung app doesn’t work with the flagship Samsung Frame TV - especially when trying to control the subscription art. Constant errors, disconnections and freezing result in anger and frustration. I really hope they find a way to make their own products compatible… at the moment, it just doesn’t work well enough, online forums are full of complaints, and Samsung should be embarrassed! …6 months later, it is still completely unreliable. The Samsung Frame TV that acts as a Samsung hub does not have an Ethernet port and has a network connection failure every few days. I don’t understand how Samsung can promise so much but deliver so little!.Version: 1.7.11

Frequent Updates = Frequent ProblemsI swear I’ve been extremely loyal to Samsung from televisions, soundbars, washer, dryer… and even our dishwasher is Samsung. But I swear this SmartThings app is really rubbing me wrong and is making me consider alternative appliances and electronics in the future. Every single time they update the app they break something… then fix something then break it again… job security? Seriously… I haven’t been able to connect my Samsung smart TV for almost a year! Then it connected for a couple months… and like an idiot I accidentally updated the app again and guess what?!… broke my TV’s connection again. So… I finally gave up on the TV situation… but at least I could still control my soundbar… uh, until the last update…. Now I constantly have to wait … usually times out before my Samsung account is connected… no thanks. Takes forever, horrible connectivity and terrible quality control. I will definitely try the next update hoping it fixes issues for televisions and soundbars that are 3 years old … if not I’m done- and next time I need a new TV, SoundBar, Dishwasher, Clothes Washer & Dryer I will look to another brand. And that’s just sad after all these years!.Version: 1.6.86

What a convoluted messEmail verification, two factor authentication, requires location tracking on always?! Most people are looking to use this app as a proprietary means of secondary control for their smart home devices so you can hopefully store your remotes or if god forbid you have lost one. Samsung makes this process arduous to say the least where they are attempting to collect and disseminate so much personal data that I actually got fed up during registration and flat out deleted this app entirely. Samsung you do not need to track my phone at all times to be able to register a bluetooth connection so I can control my tv! This kind of blatant over reach into the personal lives of your clientele is part of the problem with today. If you wish for me and people who are also privacy sensitive to continue to purchase your products, you will need to turn around to the fork in the road where ethical privacy standards were discussed and take the other road..Version: 1.6.78

Loading Art Doesn’t WorkLong thread on Samsung site all complaining of problem can’t load art images to Frame TV. Big selling point of Frame TV, that doesn’t work! My first and last Samsung purchase based on this experience!.Version: 1.6.93

Super BuggyI don’t see a feedback option so I’m posting it here. The features the app offers are great. I love the ability to set preconditions and check device status. This is the only reason I yse this app. However, it only works half the time. Making a change to a scene or automation in the app is impossible because it either takes away the save button, or exits to the Home Screen before saving. It constantly does making it literally impossible to change settings. It logs me out of my other affiliated apps and will stop working with my smart devices until I log in. There are periods this will happen multiple times a day. What’s the point of automations if I have to log in every time I want them to happen. Recently it’s just been messing up the automations and routines I have set up. I don’t even know how because it kicks me out before I can figure it out. My devices work great with Siri, Alexa, and their own apps, but this app will not work correctly. In some cases it’s impossible to use. If other apps offered the ability to check device status, there would be no reason to download this at all..Version: 1.7.10

Great physical TV, terrible app experienceLove the Samsung art ‘The Frame’ TV’s but the software on the tv is horrible and the Smart Things app is worse. I have the newest tv, iphone, and strong wifi connections. The app can rarely connect to the tv, casting to the tv via streaming apps is extremely difficult. It requires attempting connection and canceling multiple times until it finally connects. Really wish Samsung would work on the user experience for both the app and tv software.Version: 1.7.02

Takes way too long to connectI have to wait up to 30 seconds for this stupid app to connect to my sound bar. I have a 3rd party app that can connect to my Sony TV in ~1 second and a Philips hue app that can control my lights in -1 second but this app is so slow it’s unbelievable. Sort it out Samsung..Version: 1.6.77

Disaster of an appIt’s when you use non-Apple tech that you realise how awful non Apple products are. Our remote got damaged so installed this app. It worked ok for a week. Then lost connectivity to the tv. Reconnected. Then the app lost connectivity again. Thought I’d try logging out. Now I can’t log in - it’s an endless cycle of logging in, trying to add a new device, logging in, trying to add a new device. I’ve even reinstalled the app three times. Chaos. Can’t do anything with it..Version: 1.7.05

Connection issuesWhen I first got the app it was amazing but not long after it started having issues connecting to its network. that would not be a problem if it weren’t for the fact that I cannot turn off sound and lights with the remote it’s amazing when it works but when you cannot get it to connect to it’s own server it makes it pretty useless. I can still use my Aircon but a lot of features that sold me on it are unusable when smart things is not working.Version: 1.6.81

WHY would you release this yet?!?!?I’m furious! I’ve had the classic app for YEARS working fine. The app suggested classic was being deleted from App Store so like a FOOL I agreed to migrate! 🤬 In the new app I now have some of my sensors permanently set to “away mode” only, the rest I can’t see! So my brand new ST motion sensor I’ve just installed through the NEW app’s “you don’t have any sensors” page for stay mode(? I can assure you do I!) so I added the new sensor, it’s on the homepage, functions, but can’t be added to stay, away, ANYTHING! So my garage is now totally unarmed until you sort this 💩 out! WHY would you release this mockery before it’s ready? I can’t even roll back!! It’s the laughing stock of the fb group I now find. Roll me back until this is sorted! How would you like half your system written off by an app install?? My siren has gone too! Sure it’s on the homepage, I can manually switch it on, but doesn’t work when an alarm is triggered, yet my Sonos does which was my backup speaker before? Where has the page gone for sounds/lights/sirens??? Livid ain’t the word!!! I’ll be thanking YOU if my garage gets done over!.Version: 1.6.49

SlowUnless there are settings I don’t know about, it takes about 18 seconds to go from clicking the app to accessing the remote for my TV since it has to reconnect every time I reopen the app. (I’m not fully closing the app, so I don’t think it should disconnect every time.) Also, why is there no keyboard option to type when searching on the TV??.Version: 1.6.51

Good app, needs a lot more functionalityI’m new to smart devices. I’m finding the SmartThings app good, however there seems to be some basic things missing. For example, I have motion detectors that I wish to trigger lights only when it’s dark. There’s the ability to trigger based on sunrise to sunset but not sunset to sunrise? Seems like a simple oversight that eliminates a lot of control for night time and when you live in an area that sunrise and sunset can vary greatly depending on the time of year simply selecting an hour is not sufficient..Version: 1.6.28

Absolute garbageApp is unbelievably unreliable. Constantly throws errors when attempting to log in, when setting up new TV it will randomly lose the connection or freeze before sending you back to the start of the process. Says there are network connection issues with the phone when the wifi is working perfectly and the app’s access to the local network is enabled. Samsung should be embarrassed..Version: 1.6.95

Would be great, if it was workingI have used this app for less than 24 hours an already regret spending time trying to set it up for no obvious reason than wasting my time. The app is marketed at a life changing ,time saving piece of technology, maybe on paper but far from this in the real world. I have tried too many times to connect this app to a Samsung to ( last year model) but the app keep on crashing before getting to the juicy bits( I mean interacting with the tv) . I have just ordered a washing machine from ( you may have guessed) Samsung thinking this app would save me time using the not yet delivered new white good . I am still hopeful they may decide to interact but if they don’t , I will be forced to use the washing machine like in the good old days ( actually touching the item) I am still hoping things will get better with time, but if it doesn’t, what is the point of promoting a full on connected home if the required end user controller is buggy. Let see if things improve with time..Version: 1.6.92

Incredible disappointmentIf you use a stronger, more secure Ethernet connection to connect your TV to your home network then SmartThings won’t even recognise it. It forces you to use WiFi. But if I use WiFi I then get buffering and lower quality when streaming content. So Samsung are making us chose between using the apps built into the TV and using the automation and other SmartThings features. A very backwards way of doing it. And a problem people have been reporting since at least 2019 and they still won’t resolve. A real real shame. Unless they fix it my next TV and Audio solution definitely won’t be Samsung, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone I know. It’s just too much hassle and jumping through loopholes..Version: 1.6.98

Not workingSome problem with the ios17.1 The app not working Always it bug!!.Version: 1.7.05

This app is sadly limitedYou able to use this with a 2018 Samsung Smart TV. Now you can search for shows from the in app hub for it. But I see shows in there that I know are on Netflix but it does not state that. Same stuff for some other apps. To put icing on the cake, its a smart TV which at times requires typing things into each app, yet does not have a on screen keyboard in the app that I can find. There is even a internet explorer where you have to use the tv remote with an on screen keyboard. Now i get it maybe you are trying to push people to buy keyboards and set them alongside of your TV. That I have to say is pretty annoying, I already have one and it is annoying to switch between remote and keyboard. I traded in a different TV that had was supported from a competitor nick named Goku TV for this comment. In that app, not only can you type on your TV screen through the app, but you can stream the tv sound through your phone. It is truly innovative compared to this application. That can only control on/off, +/- Volume/Channel, 0-9 numbers, previous channel, up-down-left-right, and power. To top it all off its pretty laggy. It also has accurate searches through the app. Its sad that I will probably replace the smart side of this TV by plugging in a Goku TV adapter to the HDMI port..Version: 1.6.19

IOS 17 - crashSince Ios17, app crash as soon as I wanna connect to my fridge, oven or dishwasher. For an unknown reason, microwave works….Version: 1.7.05

Problematic AppThis app is extremely problematic. It regularly says that the phone and tv aren’t both connected to wifi when they in fact are. The art mode selection tool can’t ever access the photos on my phone. I have to upload pics from my phone to Instagram and only then can the app find them on my phone. I found this out accidentally. The old app worked perfectly - the new version is painful and unsatisfactory in comparison..Version: 1.6.99

Soundbar connection to wi fiI have never had to deal with such an irritating and frustrating app. It is unable to connect my soundbar to the network. It is the only device not to do so. The application is awkward to use and so slow on a fast iPad Pro. It is unusable and I tried several times. Nothing just works. It does not find networks. You have to name it. The steps are superficially simple but is awkward and frustrating in use. It spoilt my whole experience with the soundbar. Surely a multinational can employ competent people. Forget about the service. It is hopeless. I couldn’t even get any sense out of them. They said there is something wrong with your network. I have built complex computer programs, but I am disappointed in this. Samsung has serious quality assurance issues in my view. My wife’s first concern when she saw Samsung was to make sure it is unplugged at night in so it would not set our house on fire..Version: 1.6.28

Good but could improveI like the app and enjoy the ability to access my devices with or without my remote. However, I have some suggestions on how to improve the app so that it is more usable for a tv. First, the left and right arrows are well sized but the top and bottom are much too small. Those buttons are important so that you can hold scrolling rather than constantly having to swipe up and down. I often find myself accidentally selecting a show because I have to look at the tv when scrolling rather than the remote. Second, most times I go back to use the remote the home screen appears with a list of my devices when I really just want to use my remote again. It usually takes about 15-20 seconds to get back to the remote. That is about the time that a next episode on a streaming service will auto play which makes using the app sort of a wash. Anyways, thanks for hearing the feedback and (hopefully) look forward to some quality of life changes! Great app other than those minor things!.Version: 1.6.33

Rubbish appThe old Samsung smart view worked much better than this! 2 yrs back I got a Samsung 55 in tv both the tv app worked well allowing me beam my photos from my iPad or iPhone to the tv with no wires BRILLIANT . Weekend I decided to get a bigger tv more up to date so got a 65 inch tv on the installation of the tv it told me to down load this app, looking all over for the beam and failing I to contact Samsung to find out this app doesn’t support the beam, if I down load an app called airbeam I’d be able to do what I did before. Yeah Samsung as a cost of £4.99 I’m sorry but having spent a packed on a new tv I’d expect to be able to do the same as before, the rep said well wire from the iPad or phone eh why. It’s a smart tv for a reason!! It’s like me selling a car and telling the person they can’t add petrol, you have to push the car to get around. Or taking away WiFi from new gadgets, and telling a customer to hardwire..Version: 1.6.19

Not very smart for a smart thingWe use this for our smart tv and it is honestly so infuriating to use, have to reload it so many times if it even connects with the tv in the first place. All we want to do is put photos up and it is sooooo frustrating!.Version: 1.6.90

Can’t upload photos to Samsung Frame TVThis app is so temperamental! We bought the Samsung frame tv so we could display photos. This is the only app available for this function and it never works. The app Always says your phone/tv isn’t connected to the internet or there is insufficient storage. The helpline cannot solve the problem, it is infuriating to have spent this money on a tv for this function and the app doesn’t even work!.Version: 1.7.10

So many bugs, worse since updateI have a 2021 Frame 55inch, trying to use smart things as a control for the TV. It never worked well. Since the recent update doesn’t work at all. Open the app, tap on my TVs icon, app freezes and shuts down. Have reloaded app, removed and reloaded my TV multiple times, TV has up to date firmware. Prior to update occasionally worked but every time I tried to used phone to control tv I had to used the TV remote to “allow” the phone to access TV control, completely defeating the purpose of an alternative remote function. Also any time I tried to load a photo gallery it would freeze the app. Considering just plugging a chrome cast in to get functionality and treat TV like a screen. Disappointing all round really..Version: 1.6.69

Ok but needs a lot of improvementThe app works ok to set the washing machine, but it’s not very good apart from that. Every time I am out, and want to check on the status of the washing machine e.g. pause it, delay, or set it for a rinse and spin because I won’t be home to take the washing out, it just won’t load and gets stuck in “connecting with server”. It’s very disappointing as it was one of the main reasons I splashed out in a fancy and expensive washing machine, so that O could have more control over it when out and about, but it simply does not work. I have had this since June 2021 and it’s now November 2022 and the problem persists.Version: 1.6.91

June 2021 update broke my houseAll was fine before the update, update comes and now my devices randomly turn off and on on their own. I can’t connect to anything via the app anymore because it says my hub is disconnected half the time (it now sporadically goes from connected to disconnected for hours at a time ever since the update.) The new layout in the app is horrible, what used to be the main page that was nice and neat and showed only the room I wanted to show is gone, taken over by a carousel view that shows everything in its own page, I DONT WANT TO SCROLL 20 TIMES TO GET TO MY LIVING ROOM DEVICES!!! Just to let you all in on a big secret, form FOLLOWS function, not form OVER function. Did you seriously not do Blind UI QA testing on such a major update? I take that back, since the function is broken about 70% of the time now since the update it’s just all form, there is no function anymore so apparently no QA testing was done UI/UX/anything… Honestly about 2 days of frustration short of just repurposing my old iPad as a Home hub and yanking the Samsung brand outta my house..Version: 1.6.67

June updateSince the Latest update (June 2021) the app hasn’t worked at all. It changed all the interface and doesn’t connect to anything and can’t do anything! Please fix this soon!! Husband logged out of the app and can’t even log back in!.Version: 1.6.67

DOESN’T WORK! I just want to upload photos to my Frame TVI want the app to upload my own photos to use as art on our Frame TV but it’s stuck on a loading spinning wheel. Not to mention it was impossible to figure out which was the correct app in the first place. Clicking “Download in the App Store” on the Samsung website takes you to a broken link, and searching “Smart View” as suggested or searching “Samsung” doesn’t take you to the correct app..Version: 1.6.70

Unable to detect TVsThe app cannot see any of the TVs that are connected to the wifi. Other random apps on the app store can connect instantly to the TV and Samsung are unable to do it with their own devices. This is ridiculous..Version: 1.7.05

Gave a four stars review and next day decided to not workThis is ridiculous, it worked fine until l, litteraly yesterday gave it 4 stars, today it will not even WORK! Power on machine, waited a reasonable amount of time waiting for the wifi signal to show on washer, then, once connected to wifi I open the app, and it simply would not connect!!! The machine does not display any error message, the wifi connection IS WORKING just checked with apple TV laptop and phone, according to the app the machine is disconected but hey! The washer looks and display AS IF THERE IS NO PROBLEM!! I have been using this machine and the app for a week, and yesterday gave four stars, 12 hours later... guess what was just waiting for my review to stop working and become useless!.Version: 1.6.14

Not a fanHubby and I have matching TVs in the gaming room which means matching remotes that make it impossible to control one tv at a time so we got this app to allow us to independently control volume etc. One big issue is that this apps Bluetooth compatibility confuses which TV is which sometimes and will say it’s connected to my tv but then adjusts his instead. This isn’t super common but is annoying. A bigger issue is the fact that two different phones cannot have control of the same device, doesn’t make any sense and is inconvenient when he isn’t here but I want to use his screen for something. And honestly the layout of the remote especially since the last update is garbage. The only saving grace of this app which got it a 2 star instead of 1 is that it allows iPhones to control our Samsung TVs and it was free. This is a good option if you are in a pinch or don’t want to pay for a universal remote or maybe can’t keep up with remotes but always have your phone by your side. Overall trash..Version: 1.7.09

Abysmal - no nicer way to describe this rubbish!UPDATED Following several version changes this app is finally more reliable and doesn’t drop off the wireless network if left unused for a week. It still needs some polish and the user interface items are too small (on a tablet) leaving acres of blank space filled with a plant picture. Overall it is a vast improvement so giving two extra stars. Original...... Two devices - both brand new 2018 laundry products - and they both constantly lose their Wi-Fi settings and have to be re-paired onto the network. This happens at least once per week. For a supposed ‘market leader’ in the hi-tech industries this simply smacks of poor design choices and a lack of proper and robust testing regimes before release. IoT seems to be a banner for doing things badly or at least with little thought. No other systems on my network disconnect and have to be put back onto the wireless like these do. If it was one device then I would suspect the hardware, but two, both with the same issues at the same moment shouts “bad software”. Samsung, you need to be all over this as it is doing your reputation no good at all..Version: 1.6.29

Very disappointedDownloaded this app today to help set up two Samsung tvs and found it to be largely useless. The app connected to the TVs and all signs were that it was in sync with the TVs but at the very end of the registration process the transfer of data hadn’t worked and I have to go through all the same steps again using each remote. Using the app as a remote control is hopeless. I also tried to use it to purchase a subscription for a Frame TV. I’ve been charged and initially it seemed to work but having turned the tv off for a few hours and gone back to it, it seems there is no record anywhere of the purchase. I am so disappointed this is the best Samsung can do particularly with one of the TVs which is one of their newest and apparently most advanced. It’s one of these apps which looks the part but the functionality is terrible. When I was having these problems I did think of this was an Apple product these issues simply would not happen. Samsung must be able to improve this..Version: 1.6.95

Rapidly getting worseBrought ST hub 2 starter kit near enough on launch week and went through a couple of months of pain with updates breaking things on the classic app. However it then fell into place and it started to work like a smart home platform. Integrations via GitHub worked well and was the quiet brains behind the scenes for our house. Since the forced migration to the new app we have had no end of issues, functionality that existed phased out. Limitations reached on number of automations etc, to the point that it’s just unusable. The hardware is good but the app really lets it down. I don’t think the future bodes well for st, which is a shame as it was once amazing. Shame that Samsung haven’t allowed the original ST ethos to remain..Version: 1.6.59

Looks Good Works PoorlyThe interface and UI are clearly designed well, and when working the app is fine. However, it frequently doesn’t work. As an example, I just bought a brand new Samsung TV. I was setting it up with the app. I got to a point where I had to change the name of the TV, and glitch, couldn’t click on the name to change it or continue with the factory name. My only option was to fully exit set up, restart the app, and start over with the TV remote. The next day I log into the app and it’s asking me to complete TV set up despite me having finished set up using the TV remote, and again it freezes, restart app, etc. I’m caught in an idiotic loop on something I don’t care about. I just want the TV to work smoothly. I don’t care about being able to ask my TV to order a pizza, my blender and trash can already do that. Focus on what matters. Apps like this are worthless if they don’t work and it’s incredibly frustrating to have wasted time doing a set up only for the app to crap out on the insignificant name your TV step..Version: 1.6.51

Apps good but issuesI found the Ap quite good for using on my Samsung tv been working very well but since I updated to the current version on my iPad I have issues once tv is pressed and then press the home function to bring up my tv menu I go to scroll left or right it looses tv connection go back to device screen then to tv it works again then stops but old version on my iphone works great still.Version: 1.6.27

Useless App Rendering Useless Samsung DevicesI question the “4 star” average for this app. If your scroll through the reviews, you’ll see the same common issues and the fact nothing has been done to address them. I wouldn’t by my Frame TV again, as the difficulty in sharing photos on it is dismal, (constantly crashing and error readings). In todays day of seamless connections its incredibly disappointing that Samsung are selling goods that are based on this app working … it doesn’t work, therefore the functionality of devices doesn’t work, therefore the price you pay is a rip off. It essentially what makes Apple devices better - not that I am an advocate it just the facts. Samsung have a market opportunity here but they either need to sort this app out or stop selling what they can’t deliver..Version: 1.6.92

Will not connect nowMy washing machine now will not connect as a message comes up saying it needs a 2.4ghz network not 5. A mystery as nothing has changed on my router or wifi home network. Just your App updates, worked well before. Pointless having it now. Very poor that an issue such as this is now happening..Version: 1.6.28

Why SAMSUNG ?Nothing changed in reality even after years of update and what so ever. This whole SmartThings product suite is just not up-to standard they claim. The sensors still go offline on and off. Battery drain indicator is just useless, it shows 1% left still works for a week. Replaced battery, it says 100% and next day its 70%. In the App the some sensors appear as offline, but if I open they seem to be working and they even trigger alarms. Tried to remove and add them again, but it keeps happening with some sensors at given point in time. The Automation Rules are just weird, some rules just don’t work even if they are so simple. Using iphone as location sensor is seems to have its own mind. When I approach my home some days I get notifications half mile away, saying monitoring is disarmed and somedays even if I am at my door it doesn’t do anything. I don’t know how this Rule engine works, but if I create conflicting rules( for testing ) it doesn’t work at all, neither it says anything. I work for Apple, I Architect software sand apps day n night across platforms, I really feel hopelessly sad about this App. Just saw simplysafe products in someones house, its kind of flow less compared to SmartThings. I will switch and comeback and update my review. Old review a year ago. Just a newer version of the same JUNK and WORSE of course!.Version: 1.6.70

The worst control app ever writtenThe Samsung air conditioner wifi kit is used with this app, it’s sheer pot luck if you can follow the steps for this to work! I’ve had to change network settings a couple of times and it’s hell re setting up the wifi kit. Between the wireless access point dropping out and the confused instructions between steps I pull my hair out. Then there’s the fact I constantly receive an error saying the server is down. These problems are all across the internet and haven’t been fixed since 2018! If you are looking for an app to control your Samsung air conditioner unfortunately this is it, do yourself a favour and call the installers and get them to set it up (Pro tip; they won’t be able to), then get them to uninstall your system’s wifi connection and add in more control remotes through the house because you will go insane persevering with this piece of junk!.Version: 1.6.68

Horrible app to go with a horrible TVHas potential. Firstly, I don’t need another app that wants to control every device in my house! Secondly, I don’t need or want your TV and movie suggestions. All I want from this app is a better way to control my TV. Put the TV control, sources and apps all on the same page. Sources on top, TV control under that, apps under that. I should only need to go to the next screen if I run out of room for my apps. Simple, efficient and effective. I don’t want to jump around from screen to screen. I want to open the app , turn on the TV, choose my source and app all from the same screen. It would also be helpful if the app stayed open when switching back from another app on my phone. This could be a great alternative to a horribly laid out remote that came with the TV. Maybe Samsung could consider a dedicated TV app instead of grouping it with their desire to control my entire house. Update - the app is the least of my worries. Their TV constantly drops the internet connection. I will never buy another Samsung product. Period. Can’t wait to get rid of the TV, then their crappy app will no longer be an issue..Version: 1.6.48

Motion sensor needs to show date/timeI recently transitioned from Iris by Lowe’s to SmartThings and bought the hub and motion sensors (among other things). Found it tremendously difficult to connect the ST hub to my existing kwikset and schlage locks (which worked seamlessly with iris). I’ve also been unable to easily connect my Honeywell thermostat. Separately, the ST branded motion sensor is essentially useless. In the app, it will only show me in real time whether there is movement or not (and takes a moment to connect when I go through the app - it’s not always available). I would like to be able to see whether there has been movement during the day (and at what times). Iris used to showed me a bar graph where I could see the movements in my home throughout the day (e.g. no movement between 3-5 pm, movement starting at 5:30, or something like that). Is this something being addressed in an update? So far, I am not a fan of ST, and purposely delayed buying additional ST devices until I could figure out whether it worked well or not. I only bought the few items I did because Iris gave us a gift card to compensate for the shutdown of their service. I have a Samsung TV and will eventually get around to connecting it in order to salvage some utility out of this thing..Version: 1.6.28

Horrendously buggyJust a horrible app. I downloaded it to go with my Frame TV. The features it suggests are decent, albeit incomplete, and you just can’t ever get them to work bc the app is painfully slow, full of bugs, freezes constantly, and takes forever to sync w my Frame TV (half the time it doesn’t sync at all). The art Mode is cool when I can actually control it… which is rarely bc the app is awful. Probably most frustrating is that there’s no automation option for Art Mode, which is actually absurd. The app offers ability to use your own pictures from your phone in Art Mode, which would be cool, but the majority of my photos don’t load in the app, so I can’t select them, the ones that do load are not in chronological order which is confusing, half my albums don’t show up as an option, and half the time my photos either disappear completely from the app or the app freezes and won’t let me select them. Honestly the app is absolutely horrible and I probably wouldn’t have bought my Frame TV if I knew about it beforehand. Might still return it. More headache and way more amateur than any big-name modern tech company should ever be associated with.Version: 1.6.70

Slow!I have just had an email to migrate to the updated SmartThings app which I have just done however in comparison to the SmartThings Classic app it is very slow in connecting to devices to be able use the app as a control (I haven’t yet set up a connection to a new device as the migration transferred my previous connections and settings). With the classic app, you could turn on/off a device (Smart TV) within a second, with the updated version, it takes a while to connect (although you do have greater control with additional functionality). I understand there will be some teething issues but until they are resolved and the app works efficiently, I will continue to use the classic app as this is more convenient..Version: 1.6.48

Frame tv 2022Had this for a couple of days and it works ok, tv is hard wired for internet (Ethernet) and speed is reasonable. Really wish there was a way to control art mode brightness through the app to set up some routines, the tv light sensors aren’t doing a great job on its own so image often looks too dark or too bright. I intially struggled to get iPhone photos transferred via SmartThings for art mode. I found if you email yourself the image and re-download (takes about a min all up) then it works through SmartThings. Would be great for SmartThings to not trip up on the codec or metadata though to not have to do this. Have seen most people are resorting to using usb instead which is even more cumbersome..Version: 1.6.98

Lost all device settings and automationsI have updated to the new app and have lost all my device settings and automations. Now the app refuses to detect my Smart thing hub.Version: 1.6.94

Missing key feature from Classic SmartThings appI have been a SmartThings home automation user for four years, and was wary of the forced upgrade from the classic app to the new app, since I had seen some negative reviews. It turns out I right to be wary, as one of the key features I used to rely on in the classic app is gone from the new app. Specifically, when you use cell phones as device presence sensors, the app doesn’t show the phones in the device list. So you can set up rules and alerts based on them, but you can’t actually look a person’s phone in the system to see if they’re at home, when they arrived/left, etc. Developers, PLEASE add this capability back in! Beyond this issue, the app has an appealing look to it, but I agree with other users that it uses too much real estate on the home screen for the various rooms. I wish I had the option of just listing a few favorite devices on my home screen, like I could in the classic app. Also, it’s weird that all door locks are listed under a section called guest access - I am not a guest in my own home!.Version: 1.6.49

Même plus possible de fermer une simple lumière.SVP l’application SmartThings originale avant Samsung allait tellement mieux..Version: 1.6.67

Slow as hellI have the full Samsung home sweet from tv, fridge vacuum, washer, dryer (and more) As much as each device is great stand alone but the smart thing app which is meant to bring it all together is a massive fail. Takes about 45 seconds form opening the app to be able to control anything and even then doesn’t work all the time. Defeats the point of having a smart home when it’s not useable. Come on Samsung, this is embarrassing to your name, get with the times. Example: robovac turns on while on the phone: Let’s turn it off.. Open app wait about 25 seconds for app to load then establish connection with hub then load all devices another 8 seconds , then click on robovac then it initialises for another 8 seconds then hit stop then it thinks a bit then it turns off, at this point I may have walked over to the robovac about 7 times and done it the old fashioned way.. pointless, fail, embarrassing.Version: 1.6.48

Stay away from SamsungI’ve had Samsung TVs my entire adult life but I will never buy another. If your remote breaks there’s typically one button on the tv which is a huge chore to move around the menus with one button, not sure if it’s even possible as I havent managed to figure it out. You will be left with this as an option, which works about 20% of the time. Constant disconnect from tv, constant server issues. It’s just really the perfect crappy app to go with crappy tv in an all around crappy experience. Watching tv sometimes turns into a 30 minute troubleshoot. Trying to troubleshoot and navigate a slow, laggy tv filled with ads, on an app that has connection issues is aggravating. I’ve almost taken the tv and smashed it in the road. When you pay 900$ for a tv there shouldn’t be ads crammed down your throat, and the app should actually work. Most likely they are selling your data as well. Just stay away from everything Samsung, this included. Don’t believe me? I challenge you to add Discovery+ to your tv using this app as a remote. Install it, log in, and try to watch a show. It took me an hour to get a show playing. If you don’t throw something at the TV you’re a better human than I (I threw a shoe at it). For the love of god add an enter button to the “4D pad”. The thing is so touch sensitive trying to tap it to hit enter will find you back in the email or password box with like 4 “Q’s” added into the beginning or the end. Do y’all even test this crap?.Version: 1.7.02

Unacceptable demand for location informationThis app is a key part of the user experience for the Frame TV I just bought. It is recommended by the Samsung site, by the information that comes with the TV, and I think as part of the TV setup as well. Ok, fine, I downloaded it and signed in. But it demands “Always” access to my location, rather than “while using the app” access. I don’t mind the latter, but it’s unreasonable for Samsung to insist on having my location information “Always.” I deleted the app. One star for being completely unreasonable about your customers’ privacy. Update: Samsung responded to this review, saying the app “needs” to run in the background. I call b.s. other companies offer the customer a choice. I’ve bought my last Samsung TV, that’s for sure. Second update: They responded again, explaining that they need location data so they can show all connected hubs and devices and so I can share access with friends and family. They’re missing the point. First, I don’t see why that requires “always” location access. Second, even if it does, there should be an option for those of us who just want to control their expensive TV without connecting stuff or sharing access. They could certainly program an option for location permission “when using the app” if they cared to. Clearly, they don’t. If I could, Samsung, you’d get -1 to this rating, but it doesn’t go any lower than it is..Version: 1.6.52

Good idea but doesn’t workGreat idea to connect the fridge hub to your phone, but 80% it simply doesn’t work or crashes or asks to load an update and comes back with an error. I would would have hoped that a company like Samsung would have got this right. Sadly not.Version: 1.6.99

Needs improvement — too many bugsLike the new UI/UX — much better than the previous one, I think it can be even better. Still too many bugs occurring frequently (e.g., some devices go offline, running a scene fails to control some devices (it should at least try again if any devices failed), devices are not controlled on the iOS app because they’re “having trouble connecting” (works on other mobile devices, just not from the iOS app as of today), etc. Needs better quality assurance before release, if you want to keep the users..Version: 1.6.67

Works whenever you don’t need itAm I the only person who finds that this app doesn’t ever work again a few weeks after setting it up? Set up is fine, works as advertised, but then you find yourself using the app when you need it (kid ran away with the remote or you’re away and want to turn the TV on or off) and it says it’s offline. Useless app if you ask me. For the developers I am using an iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 14.4... but have had the same issue since buying the TV back on an iPhone 11 Pro and iOS 13x. Think I’ll buy a different brand tv next time..Version: 1.6.60

App is slow to start slow to connectDesign of app is ok but in 2022 to have an app that takes a minute to get going while other non-samaung ones can be near instant (3-5 seconds) is a shocker. So you start the app, even get prompted to log, thats another story with the samsung account, only to then wait again till it connects arround the world to go back to the "smart" $850 device on my wifi. I can walk and push a button faster across the house. Once in I get 2/3 of the functions of their flagship air filter that does more via the buttons on the device. Definitely room for improvement. Also please update your transport protocols as a half decent firewall flags them as outdated..Version: 1.6.91

Upload photos to Samsung Frame?!Terrible process for uploading your own photos. Does not crop photos to frame so this all has to be done manually. Switching between apps the ‘Smart App’ will always go back to the Home Screen, you then need to press 4 buttons to get back to upload photos. Smart app only works with mobile phones so no option to do this from pc. You can have a collage of photos but guess work as to what the photo dimensions should be, nothing in help..Version: 1.6.99

Blind people matter people with disabilities matterI purchased this robot vacuum cleaner. The software to it isn’t fantastic and seems to have in mind of its own connecting and disconnecting from the Internet. I also find that name in the app in a different skill instead of calling it. Samsung robot is a little stupid maybe like most modern day products they are not designed for people with visual impairment which is really annoying, especially the fact there are no user-friendly buttons on the outer case. It is all Touch Sensitive panels I would like to see all modern day products if it has a button have an audible output for blind people. this includes robot hoover, washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, microwave, ovens, and ovens in general, including induction cookers. most modern day equipment is so not user friendly. Please try and remember keep it simple keep it sweet . Norman, Birkett-park..Version: 1.7.05

Useless as a tv remoteI’ve used manufacturer apps for TVs for years now. They are rarely anything special but the have become quite useful in recent years eg for entering text into apps (like searching etc). I decided to buy a nice fancy Samsung tv. I assumed as a premium brand Samsung would have a phone remote app that works as well if not better than the others. Sadly Samsung’s offering is awful. I can’t believe this is the best a company like Samsung can do. The most obvious feature (text entry, which is clearly a pain on a physical remote) is a almost completely absent. It only works in a few places that people probably never use. Samsung need to just take a look at what LG have done and copy that; it can’t be difficult. It’s also slow and clunky to access given the app try’s to do so many other things - exactly what you don’t want for a tv remote..Version: 1.6.73
