WorkOutDoors for Positive User Reviews

Incredibly flexible, complete, pro workout app for a tiny price. This app blows my mind with how many features it has. The watch app is completely configurable to whatever needs you have. It has every option I could imagine. It’s also so cheap for the power it provides! The developers are obviously true fitness enthusiasts who want to give us everything. Thank you! My recommendation is to sit down for an hour and really dig in to the different options for the various screens on the watch app. The default configurations are very good but everyone has different goals. Once you start customizing it you’ll start to appreciate the power and depth of the analytics and live stats available to you. I set up my primary running screen to have huge numbers for average pace and instantaneous pace. These are the two stats most relevant to me at the moment but on my secondary screens I can see granular detail on absolutely anything I want. Amazing! I can even get map navigation and gpx files for trail runs. Truly awesome. Works great on all watches but it’s a necessity if you have the Apple Watch ultra. This is app makes it a truly pro-level fitness watch. Edit: months later I’m still blown away by this app..Version: 4.9

Best Fitness Tracker By FarUPDATE: This app blows all the big name apps (think running shoe brand apps) away!! The developer said they were working on a few things and boy did they deliver. The interval, alert, voice and tracking functionality is amazing. The options to customize can be a bit overwhelming but it’s awesome once you get the hang of it but any data point what you want to track is available. Love the interface and the colors. I get excited to run just so I can use this app :) If you like running without your phone, love data and the freedom to customize your views. Really let’s you get into the details of your workout and create screens with the information you are most interested in and just about any stat you can think of. Easy and intuitive to use. Needs just a few more features to make it the perfect running companion: 1. Ability to view cumulative results for analysis of performance over time. 2. Tap on graphs or data for larger views with landscape view option and overlays. Great customer service too. I sent a question by email and received a reply very quickly. Look forward to seeing more of this app!.Version: 4.1

Very powerfulVery powerful all. Provides all the data you could ever ask for. Integrates well with Apple Health on the Watch and Phone to track your workouts. Provides the ability to export your workouts as GPX, which allows you to import the data into tons of other apps and devices..Version: 4.3

The best watch appI wish I found this sooner. After being disappointed by the lack of apps that offer a mini map on the watch, I was really excited to try this out. It works great, and uses minimal battery. On the series 7, it averaged around 7% battery use per hour of cycling. It logged/navigated an entire 7 hour ride with battery life left over. The best features: - the map works great - the off route alert has already saved me multiple times after making a wrong turn - you can import gpx files from other apps such as trail forks - much more detailed and intuitive tracking compared to the built in workouts app - lots of graphs for key metrics such as heart rate and elevation, all of which are visible on the watch itself. No need to pull out your phone to check progress - it’s a one time purchase instead of a subscription.Version: 4.5

Amazing ApplicationBest Application for all training. Full customisable! Excellent support… very dedicated!.Version: 4.9

Best. Best. Best. Not even any competitor comes close! This is easily the best Apple Watch app ever. The functionality and ability to custom tailor it to your needs is above and beyond. Apple and every other big company should be ashamed of what this app proves… that a small dedicated team can beat their offerings by huge leaps and bounds. I had a question for customer service and emailed support… and they emailed back WITHIN HOURS. And it wasn’t even a generic form response. It was a genuine, detailed repose from someone who cared. Thank you Ian! If you do any outdoor activities and don’t have this app… you are missing out of so much! Just buy it! It’s worth it!.Version: 4.3

Extraordinary….!!!This app is beyond good. It is utterly brilliant and well worth the $10 purchase price. It literally makes the Apple Watch the device it was meant to be. The maps are fantastic. The customisation is so extensive, you could waste a whole day playing around with it and still not do everything. I can’t say enough about how amazing it is…! If I could ask for any upgrades, it would be for a few more complication options. There is so much screen realestate on many of the watch faces, it could be used by the app. A basic breadcrumbs widget/complication would be awesome. And since you’ve tapped into the air pressure sensor, a graph over time of the altitude and barometer in a large widget/complication would be great as no other third party app does this well. But they are literally icing on the cake. Everything else about this app is excellent. If I could give you 6 stars I would…!.Version: 5.3

An amazing exercise tracker that’s worth the priceThis is a phenomenal app! So far, I’ve used it for Cycling, Running, Walking, and Hiking and I’m blown away. I will admit the flexibility and configurability of the app is a bit much — but for the control freaks out there (like me) it’s amazing. You can change the screen layout, notifications, warnings, etc. for every activity; this means that when you hike you can pick what data you want to see and it’s different from the screens you see when you run, or ski, or golf, or whatever. I think my favorite feature is the customizable notifications. The Apple Fitness app would tell me my pace after each mile I ran; now I’ve configured WorkOutDoors to tell me my pace, heart rate, heart rate zone, distance, and time of day every half mile (and I could have it read out two dozen other pieces of data to me). When I went hiking, it would remind me to eat a snack every 40 minutes which is awesome! Here’s the TL;DR: this app has amazing customizability, tracking stats, and is worth every penny!.Version: 4.3

Best running app on Apple WatchIf you like stats and being able to configure them in pretty much any way you like... What this app can pack into the small screen real estate of the watch is really impressive. You can cram lots of info on individual screens or display fields larger and add as many screens as you like (I think...I’m at 7 now). The interval builder is fantastic as well, it should really address any training scenario one can come up with. This app saved me from being seriously disappointed after getting an Apple Watch, which I mainly did for running..Version: 4.3

Best Apple Watch Workout AppBeen using this app for a few months now and it is hands down the best workout app for the Apple Watch. I’ve used a bunch of other ones, and none of them come remotely close to the flexibility and features that WorkOutDoors provides. The newest update includes the only thing I thought was missing - interval support. Used it this morning and loved it. This app is the only one out there that contains anywhere near the same amount of functionality as a Garmin, and frankly I’d use this over a Garmin any day. Developer is also super friendly and responds to any questions sent in immediately. Can not recommend this app enough.Version: 4.0

Brilliant App.I’ve been using this App almost every day for around 6 months now and I love it. I’ve been able to configure it with exactly the data I need displayed and it’s truly been able to replace my running watch on runs up to around 4-5 hours where I’m now also streaming music and podcasts from a single device on my wrist. Great value..Version: 4.3

Awesome appI love this app. It took me 2 years to find this app. Does all the things I wanted and some more. I was thinking of switching to other more fitness oriented watches, but after I discovered this app, I don’t think it’s necessary anymore..Version: 5.3

Essential App for RunnersIf you’ve found the built in Workout app wanting then this is for you. Take the time to learn it and there will nothing you’ll be missing on your next run. (Apart from always on display) This app is brilliant and a steal at the price..Version: 4.9

Outstanding AppI am a ultra long distance hiker (Camino de Santiago, Tour Du Mont Blanc, Japan Camino and many others). Until the Apple Watch 5 and Workoutdoors app, I could not justify making the switch from my trusty Garmin HR watch. However, this app provides all the info (plus much more) of the Garmin. And importantly, the battery life of the Apple Watch now allows me to make it through a full day of hiking without having to charge the battery. WorkOutDoors’ii user interface and ease of use is excellent. To date, I have only used the hiking portion of the app, but there are also many others, including running, cycling, skiing, etc. One other point- I initially had a problem getting the app to record altitude climbs. I wrote an email to Ian at the customer support desk for WorkOutDo. Within 2 hours, he responded with the fix (I need to give “permission” for the app to get this info. Part of apples’s privacy protections, which is a positive). Ian was very helpful and friendly, and most importantly, fixed my problem. Count me a very happy user of this app..Version: 4.1

What a runner needsThis is the app that serious runners need on the Apple Watch - so much data and so much configuration. It turns the Apple Watch into a serious Garmin competitor - especially when paired with the series 4 watch. The only suggestion I have would be to allow customizable pre-configured intervals. With my running group we run to a meeting point, do an interval session/Fartlek, then run back to our workplaces. Ideally you could launch a start interval x program that would guide you through the session (just copy the functionality of the interval app and you will be fine) and would track that as three workouts. Keep up the good work!.Version: 3.2

Good value.First use today and I am very happy with its ease if use so far. Thanks to Ian Muriss, nice app!.Version: 4.7

Great Running AppI use it a lot. Being able to customize it and have my own screens when I run is much appreciated. Being able to create my own running program is another great feature. The data coming from the app is very thorough..Version: 5.3

Makes the Apple Watch competitive with GarminThis app is a great tracker, the custom screen are fantastic and an big improvement on apple’s native workout app. Really takes the Apple Watch up a notch for me..Version: 5.1

What Apple Workouts should have beenI have been using this app for well over a year now. It does everything I need it to do and more. Email support is top notch and very responsive. 5 star..Version: 4.9

This is what Apple could and should have done by nowI’ve just started running and luckily found this app. It’s amazing. The maps have already saved me from going off course, and the metrics are impressive. So far, everything just works - no mean feat as the Apple Watch can be fiddly to get apps working properly. It will take a while to use everything efficiently while running, but it’s pretty intuitive and learning is part of the fun… Apple’s workout app is clean and simple, but this is way more functional, and great value..Version: 5.2

Best app for cycling and hiking with an Apple WatchThe title says it all. The mapping is excellent smooth and intuitive on the Watch. It’s absolutely packed with features and is incredibly customisable. This is basically the app I always dreamt of when I first got an Apple Watch. Makes urban cycling much more fun as it takes the guesswork out of navigation. The iPhone app also offers excellent workout analysis. 10/10.Version: 4.3

WaypointsEst il possible d ajouter des Waypoints lorsque je fais des randonnes? Très bonne apps mais il manque cette fonction pour une meilleure utilisation de WorkOutDoors Merci.Version: 5.3

Best not just running app I’ve foundGreat app easy to programme intervals etc great data which is easily viewed and not complex - allows files to be uploaded for tracks/maps - I would love to be able to share intervals with friends - but this really is a well developed user friendly app a big thumbs up to the developers 👍.Version: 4.3

WowSo glad I found this App..Version: 4.7

Unbelievably data rich and customizable! While the UX can be a little intimidating and might need some polish, it is incredibly functional and useful. The big name apps have a lot to learn from this one! If you have an Apple Watch and you track workouts, this app is a must have!.Version: 4.7

Great app for Runners or any outdoor activitiesI have been using an Apple Watch for a few years now and love the overall functionality as a smart watch but it leaves a lot to be desired for tracking anything but the basics. Once I started running seriously I felt tempted to get a Garmin but knew I’d only use for running so it was hard justifying another smart watch. This app really bridges the gap. I use it for primarily for running but also walking, cycling and hiking. You can just start it and go or build your own custom training plans. It’s great for intervals and easy to setup. There are a ton of metrics and alerts you can enable to give you audio cues and keep you on track. Everything from pacing, heart rate, distance, and so on. The screens are customizable, great maps, you can import/export and sync with other apps like Strava. I highly recommend it..Version: 4.3

Worked for the first month then stoppedWon’t sync my workout schedules anymore. Purchased the app for this and refuses to sync with watch. Really disappointed. *update*Restarted phone and watch twice then started to work again….Version: 4.3

Buy This!!!!Always skeptical about seeing apps with great reviews ms so of course I took a look at all the critical reviews 1st and worked my way up. The negative reviews were picky so I moved on to the positive reviews and they were glaring. Checked a few Reddit pages and they also looked good so I decided to go in. The price is not a deal breaker, but after trying so many crappy gps / fitness tracking apps it takes you there. Downloaded and added to my Apple Watch and WOW this is a must have. Track’s perfectly on the watch and provides a GREAT SUMMARY after your run / walk / bike is done. Totally impressed!!! This developer and app is 1st class and I am so happy I picked it up. Saw another review saying it makes the Apple Watch better and I couldn’t agree more! Excellent work!.Version: 4.9

Simply BrilliantHaving recently bought the new Apple Ultra watch, I was looking for an app which provided an ability to navigate breadcrumb trails and display maps. I stumbled across this app and wish I had found it years ago. This software is simply brilliant, it’s very easy to use, it provides as much information as anyone could possibly need and has fantastic flexibility. As a Fell runner in the English Lake District I have really taken to the practicality and utility the app provides, and would thoroughly it to anyone. In terms of value for money, it is 2nd to none and the support from the developer is fantastic..Version: 4.7

Brilliant! A must for map based adventuringGreat app! I tested 3 apps simultaneously yesterday (this, Strava, & built-in Workout) and this quickly became my favourite. It just exposed so much information compared to the other apps. I was exploring a barely used bush trail, and this app gave me the confidence that I was still going the correct way. I am holding back from a 5 star rating because there are two things that would improve the so for me. - The altitude reading does not match the reading from new always on altitude sensor (understandable as this is a new sensor) - The map does not show contour lines, which means I need to still use another OSM app on my iPhone to navigate. I will update to 5 stars if/when those are addressed, as it will then be a perfect app..Version: 4.2

Lots of great data. No trail routes on my hikes?!Super promising. Great reviews. My earlier review is below. Turns out I’m an idiot. The 45 degree compensation thing was throwing me off. Changed to 0 and all is better. Went on two hikes so far. The data is great! The maps lacked trails in my hiking spot, which is a little disappointing. Gaia and AllTrails have trail routes marked on their maps. Not sure why WorkOutDoors doesn’t have the trails. Can I add new map sources? Anyway, the data is great. Will continue to experiment on future hikes. —- The dealbreaker for me is that the map won’t show my current forward orientation. Other similar apps show your position on the map with your gps position locked pointing forward, and when you turn, the map turns, not the pointer. This is nice because you always see what’s ahead of you at the top of the map. There are map settings to rotate the map, but as far as I can tell, they don’t do a thing. In fact, a few times I made a change, only to return to the setting screen to find that it had been reset?! Is this a bug? Am I’m doing something wrong? I can’t tell… but I play with a lot of these types of apps and haven’t run into something like this. I’m using an XS Max and a Series 5. I’ll keep an eye on this and continue to play around. I’ll def update if it’s due to my misunderstanding. Thanks for reading..Version: 4.2

Amazing app! This is hands down the best workout app I have used which has been a lot. It’s ability to customize what it shows on the display is great. No matter what you want to see for almost any type workout it is most likely an option. The view of the maps on the display as well is very accurate and extremely useful. The analytics afterwards are so detailed that they blow away every other app. I was loving that I could see my pace, steps, heart rate, among many others at any point in the workout. My only regret is that I waited for so long to buy this app even after seeing numerous amazing reviews. Don’t hesitate like I did. Totally worth it and is a steal at $5 for what you get. Developer is very responsive and puts a lot of work into this app..Version: 3.2

Hidden GemThis app is amazing for when you’re travelling and running in areas where you’re not familiar.Version: 4.9

FantastiqueTourne l'Apple Watxh en vraie montre running, beaucoup de personnalisation, peut sembler déconcertant au début, mais très intéressant!!!.Version: 4.5

Amazing App in every way. This app is incredible value. Being able to load offline maps, plot routes in GPX and customize almost any metric. On top of that the developed commented on a year old thread to help solve an issue I was having. Great customer service. This app is the best thing to bring features to your Apple Watch that you might be considering a garmin for. This should be a native app it’s so good..Version: 4.9

The best watch app for …everyone!Used this for years. Whether simply walking around cities and leaving a paper-trail on the map for orientation, or training for a marathon run, there is no better watch app in the AppStore. Simply amazing 👍.Version: 5.2

So much better than what Apple provideI recently bought an Apple Watch SE as an upgrade in an aging Fitbit that was starting to lose connectivity. I wasn’t blown away by what Apple provides and wasn’t going to fork out for their subscription service. I read all the reviews and came across this app that looked ideal as I cycle and Hike mostly and this seemed to have all I’ll ever need for these. Did a bit of customisation on the settings and display and then out for a quick walk around the local area. Performance was absolutely faultless and provided accurate info on all elements. I love that it provides so much data but that you don’t need to delve into that unless you want to, as you can just tap to start and finish and leave it at that. I don’t expect cycling to be any different, and am looking forward to building up the map routes on device as I go. If only all apps were this well thought out and relevant. Well done!!!.Version: 4.2

Best hiking tool for iOSI bought this app for tracking hikes and being able to see trails on my watch. It has been worth every penny. It has trails around the world (I can personally attest to Portugal, Scotland, Greece and Costa Rica) and even some really tiny local trails in my area that I was not expecting to see on an app. Everything works really well and it does a great job of showing all the stats. Hikes can also be saved for future reference..Version: 5.1

Simply awesome! The app is really quite complex but after learning its ways I was very comfortable. So many customization options. It’s a mature, no gimmick application, no fancy cumbersome settings and procedures. It has nothing to prove to you, nothing to sell, no unnecessary pat on the back. It simply does its job and doesn’t cuddle you, doesn’t interfere. It works well on Apple Watch Ultra. Finally found an app that tracks without flourishes. Congrats to the design and programming teams and I hope it gets better and better..Version: 4.7

Just amazing!! True offline maps on the watchBest app to navigate and track your outdoor activities on the watch. I use it mainly for running and cycling and it enabled me to truly leave my phone at home. It is great to discover new routes and tracks without having to carry the phone with you. I normally plan the route using Komoot and then just import the GPX track, download the maps and transfer it to the watch. It always works super smooth. And all of that for a very reasonable one time payment. No ads or any payment / upgrade prompts later on. Keep up the great work!.Version: 5.3

Amazing fitness appAmazing fitness app, pretty much Garmin level metrics from an Apple Watch and it works natively with the Apple health ecosystem! Excellent and responsive developer - highly recommend!!.Version: 4.3

Amazing!!!!!! Must Have! This app is the REAL DEAL! It is worth every penny and then some! I am an average workout person, but all the other apps do not have enough controllable data. Also, this app announces any run metrics I want. You can choose any metrics (including graphs) you want to see on the screen from as little as 2 metrics to over 10!! The customization doesn’t end with the screen or announced metrics, you can even create your own custom intervals into whatever workout you like. Make no mistake, this app does anything you want and can be for basic users to advanced users. I would say there is some customizing you will want to do, but it can just be a “download and use” app too. I don’t just use this for running, I also use it for HIIT training, strength training and interval training. This app does it all! Forget all the other apps. All of your info exports to Apple Health accurately and you can even export the files from the app to upload into other apps manually. Before I purchased it, I messaged the developer and he responded right away and answered my questions! They are really cool and want to make sure you are getting the help you need when you have questions. I could go on, but just get the app and you’ll see for yourself!.Version: 4.7

Essential for a Garmin convertI’m a long-term Garmin Fenix user who’s recently moved to wearing an Apple Watch full time. I didn’t think it would be possible to ditch the Garmin for my outdoor pursuits (running and hiking in particular), but this app has made that a reality. The level of customisation available is extraordinary, and the offline maps functionality makes running even the most complicated course a pleasure. More than I have ever been able to say for Garmin’s mapping functionality! It’s as if the developers of this app have been listening to me for the last five years and building this secretly in the background. I can’t recommend it highly enough..Version: 4.3

Free, no ads, no begging for reviews, excellentFully configurable, turns AW Ultra into a fully fledged workout wrist computer. Fully integrated with the Apple workout and Apple health. Could not recommend higher..Version: 5.2

Awesome appLove how easy it is to customise almost ANY type of workout. Works great with Strava too. Well worth buying. Keep it up.Version: 4.3

Best workout app by farMost configurable app that I’ve ever used. So many editable actives. Good clear maps. All the screens you want with different sized fonts. Good accuracy. No social media nonsense ;-) I don’t use Strava anymore as this is great, though you can set it up to share your workouts to Strava automatically, should you want to. My only gripe is that you can’t change the activity after you’ve completed it i.e. you accidentally record a run as a hike. But I’d struggle to find any other faults.Version: 4.9

Such a great add-on for Apple Watch Ultra UsersI was initially wary of the price tag of the app, but upon installing I noticed that this app extended function of my Apple Watch Ultra. It basically turns your Apple Watch to a Garmin !.Version: 4.8

AwesomeI never write a review for an app, but this one is special. This app is nothing short of spectacular! Easy to use, easy to set up, and it syncs to Strava. Absolutely worth the price!.Version: 4.7

An amazing tool to complement the UltraThis is a fantastic tool that does feel slightly overwhelming at first but if you really take the time go through all the settings and metrics you want to track, very quickly becomes the GOAT. This app enables you to stay within the Apple ecosystem whilst getting everything you need out of the app. Please please please work on updating the app to utilise the action button. It's still a 5* simply because time is a factor here but once you do it, I'll forget Apple fitness even exists..Version: 4.7

Excellent. But no Updates.Fantastic app. Started to use this instead of many other well known branded apps. What it lacks in polish and style it makes up for functionality options and stats. You can literally track any metric you will ever need and configure the screens to display it. fair play to the developer(s) I can only imagine the amount to of testing that went into this. Well done. There has been no updates for 11 months!! which said this is end of life and no more support will be coming. Sadly this could be it. UPDATE: Thanks for the response. Cannot wait for the new upgrade as I’m sure many many others can’t either. Keep up the brilliant work..Version: 4.3

Fantastic!!I don’t typically write reviews but felt compelled to do so because this app is absolutely fantastic. I had a Garmin Forerunner with custom screens and this was something I missed after switching to an Apple watch ultra. None of the running apps were giving me what I wanted, until I found this one! You can even create repetitions like those ‘coach to 10k’, all in one app. The amount of customization is out of this word, which on the other side can be a bit overwhelming for those who are not a geek, although they can still use the default parameters and be ready to roll (but will definitely be missing out). Awesome job developers!!!.Version: 5.3

Highly recommendedWorkOutdoors is an improvement over what Apple offers. I rarely review apps; this might be the first time I have done so on the App Store. I bought an Apple Watch Ultra because I run races. I use both the Apple and a Garmin. My main concern about the Apple watch is battery life. This app cannot address that. What it can do. however, is offer customizable data fields. That is what is excels at. The YouTuber Mark Lewis raved about it. So I tried it. I also will say the customer service is just terrific. I emailed about an issue, and a human being replied instantly. It also turned out to be user error, or at least fixable by me if I just played around — you have to get the customization to sync up by clicking that option..Version: 4.9

Brilliant for customised workoutsAs a runner that uses Apple Watch and Strava, this app works wonders particularly for workouts. Integrates well with Strava. The OSD options are also completely flexible. App has been reliable, having used every other day for months..Version: 4.2

Near perfect appThis app has almost everything. The only two things I wish it had are topo maps and better auto-pause adjustments. The auto-pause sliders can’t be adjusted to suit the slow, sporadic movement involved in activities like hiking. The sliders would also be easier to set if the sensitivity showed actual speed and time values. But those are minor issues, and the app is easily worth every penny..Version: 4.3

Clearly a Labor of LoveThis is the best app to record your workouts and the best part is that it’s not a subscription. Do yourself a favor and buy it. If you’ve gotten this far, you won’t regret it. Also, don’t let the ostensible complexity scare you off. I’m 40 and I figured out how to customize everything in a surprisingly little amount of time. That said, I’ve spent the last hour playing around with the countless different options just because it’s so much fun. The app is just so polished. (My cheapo optical heart-rate monitor synced up with no issues—having an accurate heart-rate makes all the difference in tracking your workout, I recommend that too, if you don’t already have one, the heart-rate readings from Apple Watch are not great.).Version: 4.9

Turns Apple Watch to Garmin killerThis is a fantastic app. Takes a few goes to get used to the configuration. But that’s because it caters from beginner to pro. Also allows for more sensors that the native apple app. The route tracker is better than garmin and also great to get in ear alerts. The watch face has more customisations than garmin and importing gpx is super easy. You can add action buttons to the screen you can’t get with apple workouts. I have had 4 different garmins On the basis it was a proper running watch. Now 100% using my Apple Watch thanks for Work Outdoors..Version: 4.7

As good as everyone saysI have used several apps for running with my Apple Watch, but each of them was missing at least one or two key features that I really needed. I ended up using Strava just to track the runs, but it wasn’t much use during the run because I couldn’t change the way the metrics were displayed, and the numbers were too small for me to read anyway. I had reached the point where I was thinking of buying a dedicated sports watch, but thanks to this app, that is no longer necessary. A good description for the capabilities of this app would be that if you can imagine that it would be useful to do something in a particular way, the chances are that the app can do it. The only think I haven’t figured out how to do is copy and paste intervals when building a workout. This would be helpful because the intervals are so insanely customisable that it takes ages to get them all the same. However, the fact that I haven’t figured out how to do this doesn’t mean that the app can’t do it, so I’ll keep experimenting. Some people may be put off by the fact that you have to pay for the app, but it is a miracle that it’s not a subscription. Having used it, I would happily pay ten times the amount they are asking and still call it a bargain. If you have an Apple Watch and want to use it for sports, this app will completely transform your experience..Version: 4.5

WowThis app is amazing. I’ve previously used the native workout app on Apple Watch, along with many of common third party apps, and this absolutely trumps them all by a large margin. It has so many metrics it’s unbelievable. Its the most customisable app I’ve ever seen. It also automatically synchronises with Strava which even the native workout app can’t do. If you’re into running or any other exercise that needs to be tracked,,,,, just get this app. You won’t regret it..Version: 4.3

A good replacement for the Strava AppI am using my Apple SE watch as a running watch, and the battery life is good enough for running an 8-hour trail race. I normally use Strava to track my runs, but the Strava Watch app has one shortcoming - no map function. Do I buy another watch? A Garmin? I found the WorkOutDoors app and am now using it instead of Strava. I am often in the bush without any visible landmarks and WorkOutDoors keeps me on course. No need to buy the Garmin. I am impressed!.Version: 4.7

Fantastic appAbsolutely great application for Apple Watch people coming over from a Garmin (for example) Using it for running (great screen setup), Strava integration and structured workouts. Along with swimming, cross training and biking..Version: 4.7

Best Apple Watch Running app by a country mileHave tried every Apple Watch running app I could find. Most of which were really un-accurate, the only ones I could reliably use were apps that connected to my phone for GPS, Endomondo, iSmoothRun. So was thinking it was my Apple Watch 3 gps accuracy that was the issue. Until I tried WorkOutDoors. Accuracy is great so can run with just my watch now. Also the features that the app measures/displays are unreal. And with the additional features today’s update has added like interval sessions, adding routes easily etc. Means I can use this app for everything. Can’t praise it enough.Version: 4.0

Great app, even better customer serviceI downloaded WorkOutDoors for the same reason most people probably do-it’s the most customizable, user-friendly workout app out there. I’ve been able to use my watch without needing to have a phone handy, and with the customizable watch faces, I basically have everything I feel I need during my runs. I’ll say this however, earlier today (yes, today) the watch app crashed twice during a one-hour run which was really frustrating-I have been going through multiple different fitness apps during the last few weeks, and hate losing data. In any case once I got home, I wrote to the developer and he helped me fix the problem and address the issue directly. It’s by far the best customer service I’ve ever encountered, and he was able to suggest a few different fixes (sometimes iOS crashes the app when there are too many other apps open, or if I’ve run too much in the same area, something having to do with memory stored on the app). I highly highly recommend downloading WorkOutDoors to anyone working with a heart rate monitor looking to stay in their zones during their runs/bikes etc. and anyone who’s interested in more than the normal data available with most apps..Version: 4.1

Superb app!I just got this app a few days ago and have already used it to guide me along several local walks as a test before any ‘hard’ use. My initial thoughts? Excellent! The app is super-versatile, extremely ‘tweakable’ and does exactly what I want it to do - in other words, I can drop a pre-made GPX route onto it very easily, and then follow that route simply by looking at my Apple Watch as I’m walking. It even works without the phone (or can work on the phone without a watch). I tested it alongside a dedicated Garmin GPS I have for cycling anyway... and in use I’ve found this cheap little app to be SO much easier to use. It just works. And even though the watch face is smaller than my Garmin screen, the map is way clearer to follow. Go figure. Pinch & zoom, easy-peasy. Are you listening, Garmin? It also does so much more. For a measly few quid, the price of a pint, it’s a no-brainer. Easy navigation for walking, running, cycling etc etc, upload workouts to Strava and much more. Happy punter. 🙂.Version: 4.1

Forget the rest - SeriouslyNot normally a reviewer but on this occasion... have tried different workout apps specifically for running, hiking and cycling and there has been something that doesn’t quite suit. This one is so customisable that you basically create it to work how YOU want it to. Then there’s the maps element which is awesome. On top of all this, it still gets updated periodically and the price is fair. Seriously, from one ‘hard to please’ customer I assure anyone out there this is well worth the purchase..Version: 4.3

W.O.WBest app ever. At a very very very good price. 😬.Version: 4.7

Turn your watch into a running watchThis app is absolutely amazing. I got it to be able to program intervals, and it does that and so much more. It effectively gives your Apple Watch all the features of a dedicated running watch..Version: 4.3

Fantastic Workout AppI workout six days a week, at least: road biking, mountain biking, road running, trail running, hiking, rock climbing, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, weights and cardio at the gym, and jumping rope. I’ve had the app for more than a year, and use it for all of the above. I love it! It shows me exactly what I want to see when I want to see it. The real-time metrics are customized for what I want, and all the data is there for my review later. I can give each workout a custom name, and search through past workouts. It even gives me control over how and if I want to sync with Strava. I regularly import routes from TrailForks. It makes the Ultra a perfect athlete’s watch..Version: 5.1

Turns Apple Watch into a sports watchI used to work for Garmin so I know a bit about sports watches. This software is very flexible and makes an Apple Watch into a useable running watch. Recommended..Version: 4.9

Recent convert, now huge fanI was looking at a better option for in watch functionality and this blows away the other apps I’ve used. This doesn’t compete with other Apple Watch fitness apps, it is in a league of its own. Thanks for an awesome app.Version: 4.2

FantasticJust love this App. I’m a hiker and the vector mapping is superb. The App is so configurable but the presentation when using is not at all cluttered. Why four stars and not five ? It’s doesn’t give you a warning when going off route, but that’s coming, so then will be a 5+ Update: now 5 stars and wish I could give it a + too. Been using virtually everyday for nearly a year now for walking and hiking. Plan a route on Komoot, export the gpx to the phone, send to watch and off we go. It’s been faultless especially as now includes off route warnings. My Garmin, Sunnto and Polar watches haven’t see the light of day for many a month..Version: 4.1

Incredibly detailed and customisable replacement for my Garmin Forerunner 645An incredibly detailed, customisable and essential app for those coming from the Garmin world. The mapping, metrics and heart rate alerts provided by the app, coupled with the built in safety features provided by Apple make a robust and comprehensive solution. Price is surprisingly generous given the depth of capabilities. Five stars, however I’ll be keeping a close eye on feature enhancements so as to utilise the Apple Watch Ultra action button..Version: 4.7

Wow. Absolutely brilliant.I’ve been looking for an app that would give me a lot of metrics for both running as well as walking. I am also absolutely allergic to any app asking for recurring monthly fees. This app and developer stand out from the crowd. I applaud you for not being greedy when it comes to your selling model. This is one of the few software that I have purchased. Absolutely love all the fine-tuning you can do in the data that you can extract from this. I have spent many hours looking through all these options. I applaud your programming skills. Absolutely love the fact that I can use my Apple Watch Ultra to visualize all this. Brilliant..Version: 5.3

Swiss army Mercedes Benz knife of a running appOMG where have you guys been all out running lives! About time someone created this!! Yes it’s complicated and we like complications not your made in California trimmed down minimalist apps (shrinkflators). Yes it takes time to learn, all good things do. Yes it can be improved, nothing is perfect and this comes close to perfection. Only note in the suggestion box: shoes tracking? Then I don’t need any of the brand name shoe company apps and hey who knows you might get M&A activity immediately if you could have shoes tracking. Gosh wake up big company developers and take notes from this app’s success!! Or better still buy this app before the developers of this app realize they are sitting on a gold mine..Version: 4.9

If you run or ride… Get this app! This app is so good! I love how it just works right out of the gate. But then once you get comfortable with it you can customise almost everything that you could need to, to align with your running or riding goals. My favourite feature for exploring new trails is the route loading and map viewing ability, this has finally freed me from needing to bring my phone with me! This is now my go to tracking app for all my outdoor exercise and adventures!.Version: 4.3

AmazingOne of the most comprehensive workout tools I have ever used. Since owning an Apple Watch I have struggled to use trials off-line without bringing my phone with me. however, now I can download maps onto my watch and have a whole host of new metrics available that were not easily accessible through the apple workout app. The accuracy and number of different workout modes are exceptional along with high customisation to suit anyone’s needs along with additional features such as text-to-speech notifications when reaching custom targets like top speed and heart rate danger zones..Version: 4.3

The BEST for cyclingWhy on Earth a company as capable of Apple hasn’t created their own version of something like this I do not know. The fully customisable screens, auto-pause for cycling (take note Apple!) and solid integration with the Apple Activity app makes this the best tracking app for cycling that I’ve come across. Much better than Strava as well, since the calorie estimates are actually realistic, plus the customisability of the screens makes it a far more powerful tool. And don’t worry if you’re a Strava fanatic: you can upload your workouts straight to Strava directly through the app. Absolutely amazing app, and worth every penny. Plus, the developer is incredibly helpful :) Cannot recommend this enough..Version: 4.1

The outstanding App Apple should have developedRunning with an Apple Watch has been a constant frustration. The inability to effectively set up interval training sessions is a fundamental weakness - WorkOutDoors resolves this and so much more. It will take a little time for users to establish exactly what they want from the app but there is so much customisable capacity, it’s almost certain you will be able to configure it exactly as you need it. The way interval sessions can be set up once and then reused is so useful. One feature that might be helpful would be some simple online tutorial videos, as I’m sure there are many features that I have not discovered or not properly understood that are available in the app. In a word - outstanding!.Version: 4.2

Amazing cycling & walking map appThis makes my Apple Watch Ultra a true outdoor activity device. I use this app for walking & cycling. As a cycle tool, it acts as an equal & backup for my Garmin Edge. I now have body metrics like walking cadence, heart rates & zones along with my speed, distance & climbs. I love the little vibration when I go off course. I am used to using OpenSource Topo Maps on my Garmin & the amazing MapOut app. So drawing & sending GPS routes to Workoutdoors on my watch is very easy. The maps are truly great on the Ultra Watch screen. I highly recommend this app to anyone who cycles or hikes..Version: 5.3

Still the best workout appI’ve been using this app for several years now for every workout I do, up to and including half a dozen marathons now. It offers so many features and works really well. It was very solid for me on my Series 4 watch and having recently updated to a Series 6 it is just as good. A few key features I really like: * highly customisable interval workouts * customisable workout audio countdowns that play from the watch or via Bluetooth headphones * highly customisable display * past workouts are stored both on the watch and in the iPhone app, making it much easier to find them than searching Strava * the raw workout data is accessible (and easily transferable) from both the watch and the iPhone app. This contrasts with the Garmin Connect outage which showed how difficult it is to access your own data. Since ditching my Garmin watch due to its flaky connectivity with my iPhone, WorkOutDoors on the Apple Watch has been a far better experience. As with others, I also commend Ian, the developer, on his awesome feedback and assistance if needed. Strongly recommended..Version: 4.2

Best workout app I’ve ever usedThis app has it all, and I am sad that I did not hear about it earlier. I used to use the native Apple Watch workout feature, which is great, but missing a lot of features that I wanted to see. You can customize the screens to show the data that is most important to you, and swipe left or right to switch between screens. As a runner who has a hard time staying in “zone” heart rate targets, the option to have haptic/audio alerts when I reach a certain heart rate has been incredible for keeping my effort in check. It’s one of the most underrated apps I’ve ever used and for that, it deserves my first ever app review. Thank you Ian for making such an amazing product..Version: 4.2

Very detailed, great valueHighly recommended. Has pretty much everything you could want from a fitness tracker app. I’ve used it for cycling but am looking forward to testing it for backpacking and traveling. I love how incredibly customizable the screen layouts are, allowing you go choose basically anything you could want to have available at a glance during an activity. You can also auto export your workouts to Strava. The only thing I wish were better is the UI—but considering this is a one man operation I can understand why it’s a big rough around the edges aesthetically speaking. In the end, functionality is all that really matters and this thing is functional as hell!.Version: 4.2

Don’t even think twice, just buy this appI’ve never felt “compelled” to write a review like this before, best workout app on the watch I’ve ever seen, or even imagined possible! Truly taking advantage of every piece of this device and the result is amazing. While I had simple requirements, it definitely exceeded everything I had hoped it to be. It also works very well with the Apple software when it comes to workouts, health data and audio handling integrations on the watch. I had weird results with other apps, where they would screw up my music/audiobook playback for intervals, or record very basic crap data for a running workout, in the end kept going back to the native one. This app does it all perfectly! With intense customizations too. So happy with this. Well done!.Version: 4.1

Trail runners dreams come true!I rarely write app reviews, but I had to write this one. I had my Apple Watch for close to 2 years now, but this is the app I have always wished for. Previously I used a combination of Strava and ViewRanger and always had problems with the 2 apps competing with each other on my watch. WorkOutDoors ticks all my requirements to have reliable offline typographic maps on my watch, and giving me all the data I need while I’m running and for post run analysis, plus easy export to strava. Finally someone had the dedication to write a fantastic app for the watch rather than doing a half baked hybrid iPhone/watch app. Just amazing the level of screen customisation. Still to find something I’m missing. Very stable too. Well done!!!!.Version: 4.1

Powerlifter and Occasional RunnerThis is an exceptional app, especially on the iWatch Ultra! The amount of information that you are able to see while participating in whatever activity you are passionate about is truly invaluable, and it gave me an insight into data that I never really thought about. I will admit, for those who are not experienced with interpreting this type of data can be intimidated and overwhelmed, but that’s what is so fascinating about this app because it actually encouraged me to do more research and learn about what this data means so I am more informed as an athlete while allowing me lead more efficient workouts. That said, the screens are endlessly customizable so the information that you can see is always at visible in a clear and easy to read layout! I will add that if the developers are reading this I would like a more features that test my v02 max, analyze my recovery periods, and sleep while providing that in maybe a morning notification so I can see how my training is going and where I need to improve. I am not an ultra athlete so I don’t need something like a Garmin, but I did like a lot of those forward looking metrics that provide me with some predictive analysis as opposed having to input that information onto a another app to synthesize that information. Overall, this is a very good app and in love with the functionality..Version: 4.7

Best Running App By FarOutstanding. Love everything about it. It is a little complicated initially but that is due to being so customisable and detailed. Beauty is you can have one or two basic screen’s giving you the fundamentals. Or you can go all put with the stats available to you on the move. Plus theres true mapping. Incredible. And theres buttons. That was my main gripe with most or the apple watch running apps. Needed swiping and menu changes just to start a new interval or stop the workout. With this you can just add the button to the screen. 5 stars..Version: 4.3

Now my all round go-to app for outdoor activity!I needed an app to navigate with on my Apple Watch when hiking, running and trail running. I was also hoping to find an app that can take me through interval training sessions. This app does all of these very elegantly, is highly configurable, and very reliably. Setting up a route is super easy. Once I have a GPX file on iCloud or Downloads folder I can either import from the iPhone App (or from the Files app, share to the App) and then send to the watch from the app. Once selected from the watch app, the map is very clear and zoom able, Showing footpaths, forests, roads and other features clearly. There’s no turn by turn navigation or alert when off route, but apps that claim to offer this functionality rarely function well away from the streets anyway, since footpaths twist and turn in their own right. Interval Sessions are also very easy to preprogramme, and if wearing headphones you get a great verbal countdown to the end of the interval and a warning if running too fast or slow. I found the app very easy and user friendly to configure, but it is worthwhile reading the short online manual, esp to work out the few double-tap etc shortcut gestures. But so far after 2 months of fairly heavy use, I would totally recommend..Version: 4.2

Great!Love the app. Transforms the Watch into a very useful tool while exercising, particularly the map and different stats. Hope to see always-on someday soon! Thanks dev for the great work!.Version: 4.3

Finally! The new version with Series 7 support is utterly amazing. The new maps have more detail than my Garmin Epix 2. With offline downloads to the watch, maps are more responsive and navigation is a breeze. This app makes the Apple Watch THE ultimate outdoor tool. This app is the only reason the Apple Watch can compete with Garmin. I never want to lose this app and hope the developer is in it for the long haul! Nothing on the App Store competes with the value this app offers. I’d easily pay $20 bucks for an app like this, and if that’s what it takes to keep the developer in business for decades to come sign me up for life..Version: 4.4

This is the only non-Apple watch app that I’d consider essential. The mapping functionality on this works brilliantly. I’ve not used any of the other functionality , so can’t comment on the rest..Version: 5.1

Amazing. A must have for Apple Watch UltraGreat to have found this app. Lots of features like saving maps on your watch. Great peace of mind. And maps are looking great on the Ultra. Apple should put it on top suggested app. Keep it up Dev Team, you are doing a great job..Version: 4.7

Overall, great.Just starting to leverage on Apple Watch Ultra. Been on platform since series 6. Before that, on Garmin Fenix 5. One wish is not starting a workout until I press the action button., available after GPS is attained. This is possible with Apple Workouts (albeit not their default). I also would like the ability to get golf distance to the flag based on current location. It looks like Garmin has this feature, knowing the current golf course at a club being played by GPS or selection. Socializing it can provide the locations. Subscription option if infrastructure needed..Version: 4.9

An amazing app and great customer serviceThis is the best app I have on my Apple Watch, and just having a one off payment, rather than a subscription, is fantastic. It is so customisable to your own preferences, and more they have just added squash as a workout, it meets all my fitness needs and can now completely replace the built in Apple Workout app for me. I love how maps can be used for running and other outdoor activities, and I have used it for navigating when out for a walk somewhere new to find my way back to my starting point. I had a question about the latest update, as the Watch version was not showing the new workouts, whereas the iPhone version was. My email to customer service was answered in 4 minutes! I was told to update the app from the App Store on the Apple Watch (as the phone version sometimes does not update the watch version immediately) and this solved the problem. What great service! I cannot recommend this app highly enough!!.Version: 4.8

Love the appLove the app, I did have a few issues where it would crash occasionally but I suspect that may have been more the watch, have reinstalled now and all seems to be working, I love the customisation of the app and the fact that you can have many different sports..Version: 4.3

By far the best Running App out thereThis is by far the absolute best running out out there. The amount of customizations you can do is far and beyond any other app I’ve tried. Major kudos to the developer for putting this together. Really great support and response time from the developer as well to a few questions I had with the app. Only slight downside is that it currently doesn’t have turn by turn direction support, but that is apparently coming soon. Hey n the meantime — spend the $$, support this developer, and start using one of the best apps out on here! Any desire I’ve had to go back to my Garmin Fenix 5 is gone!!.Version: 4.1

Wow! Just get it!I do a lot of walking for exercises and for health and enjoyment. I also like to collect stats from my Apple Watch etc. This app is absolutely outstanding at what it does providing a huge amount of configurability and functionality. I’ve tried more apps than I care to remember and this one wins hands down. An excellent and extremely well thought out app that should cater for just about anybody that can physically move! If you’ve got an Apple Watch, seriously… You need to look no further because you won’t find anything better than this as of the time of writing this review..Version: 4.9

Best for Apple Watch mapsIf you want to download maps to your Watch for offline hiking/running/biking etc, this is the only app on Apple Watch I can recommend. It’s fully feature laden and updated regularly. I’d love to see an always on display but apart from that, it’s really hard to fault. Just incredible work! The bigger developers behind AllTrails, Komoot, Strava and others could learn a lot from this app. Please keep up the amazing work.Version: 4.9

IncredibleI’ve been using apps on my iphone to help me navigate whilst hiking for many years. This has involved saving offline maps and then using gpx files to display routes. Around 6 months ago i started trying to achieve the same goal but using my apple watch (navigating without having my iphone on me). I tried a huge variety of apps but virtually all of them were convoluted and required expensive subscription services. I recently stumbled across this app and finally ive found what im looking for!!! Its wonderfully simple but also highly customisable. The app allows tracking a variety of workouts but i use it in its simplest form: import a gpx and then click “send to watch” and “send map to watch.” The app automatically downlods the tiles on the map that cover the gpx and sends them to the watch. I can then open the watch and just click “map” and open the gpx. Its silky smooth and the maps are all vector so scale nicely. The watch app also makes full use of the compass in the new apple watch. I also love the fact you can choose how long the glx stays active after you close the app or the screen goes dark. The developer really has created a wonderful product and their passion shines through. The watch app is so well designed and its so responsive and well though out. As i said before, i really only use it in its simplest form and the app can do so much more especially if you want to track workouts and export data etc. Thank you!!!.Version: 4.0

What the Apple Watch was made forIf you want to run intervals using just your Watch and a pair of AirPods, this is the app for you. I’ve been using this app for a few years now and it goes from strength to strength. My one wish is for the ability to import interval workouts as FIT files from services such as TrainAsONE or TrainingPeaks. Considering however that the developer hasn’t charged users a single penny for the previous few years of updates, I’m not going to grumble!.Version: 4.7

Just keeps going from fantastic to brilliant and betterI’ve been using this app for a while now and I don’t think I could go to any other as the guy behind this just keeps making it better and better. It’s one of the few apps that doesn’t require a membership or signing up to anything and yet it delivers everything and more than some of the big-name apps. I just love using it and appreciate how comprehensive and simple it is to use. Not only that but data can be exported into some other great apps that also don’t need to be linked to databases or friends or shared with the world. Thanks for a fantastic app..Version: 4.0

Awesome app and customer supportI thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the details and options on this app. I was having trouble syncing my Apple Watch to my phone because my Apple Watch storage was too full and I received an personal email in response to my request within two hours on a Friday night! Can’t get any better than that! thank you so much for creating this app!.Version: 4.9

Truly Amazing Multisport app Including Pool SwimI have been looking for a better multi sport workout tracking app and specifically a better pool swim app and the WorkOutDoors app is absolutely amazing. It is highly customizable and works exactly as you would expect. It takes much better advantage of the Apple Watch Ultra buttons than any other apps I have looked at. The setting up of the windows can be overwhelming at first due to the many options but this is easily overcome. This app enhances greatly the capability of the Ultra and am glad I found it to run and bike..Version: 4.9

The best Apple Watch running / exercise appI’m a Strava enjoyer, for the humble brags and social side, but the tracking is rubbish. Apple has only just got on the band wagon with better metrics and some (slight) customisation - this app blows them all out of the water. Infinite customisation You can import GPX files also and navigate off your watch, and customise the screens to show as little or as much as you want. There is only 1 niche complaint I have - I can’t make a screen show me pace in KM and Mile at the same time, but let’s be honest…that’s just me being picky (or I just don’t know how to do it). Downloadable maps in lower and higher quality depending on your device, and an excellent responsive UI I’ve used this on series 6, 8 and Now Ultra 2 and it’s been fab on all of them. Time to send the guy a tip as it’s well worth the £4.99 I paid and then some.Version: 5.3

Made my Apple Watch a great running watchI have been using this app for a couple of years now and it is fantastic. Made my Apple Watch a great running watch! I highly recommend to any runner!.Version: 4.8

Fantastic workout appBeen using this app with Apple Watch and Strava to record my workout for years. It’s the best on almost every aspects. Especially, it’s highly customizable, with almost every metrics you need. When I used apple Workout app with Strava, it did not record cadences. So I found this app, not just give cadence metrics, but much much more. The Watch screens is very versatile, it fits everyone from beginners to professionals. You do need to take some time to understand how to make best use of it though. Also, it just got updated to support Apple Watch Low power mode (display always on). That makes me love it much much more. And yes, I immediately gave Ian the “very generous tip” for that. Bravos!!!!.Version: 5.1

Best Fitness AppSo impressed and totally now after using the WorkOutDoors App am a a dedicated user. I have been using fitness apps for over 15 years and have never had one as informing, detailed and reliable as this app. Being able to load vector maps onto a Apple Watch is excellent. Well done team on a brilliant app. PS It is pretty straight forward to use but it doesn’t hurt to read the ready available online users manual. Also would be good to have a comments/notes field for each workout.👍🏼.Version: 4.9

The Garmin killerWOW!! What an app. This review is going to read like a paid promotion but seriously it’s not. This app is just amazing. If you are serious about running or cycling, this is the app to make your Apple Watch equivalent to a Garmin sports watch. It does all sorts of interval training, it’s SUPER customisable in terms of the display, audio cues, even the controls themselves. Super pleased with this app, keep up the great work team..Version: 4.2

Nailed itAlways been a fussy Garmin user and bought an Apple Watch on the basis of the reviews of this app. It hasn’t disappointed, now the Apple Watch is the complete running watch. A great app..Version: 4.3

Turn Apple Watch into GarminBeen using Apple Watch for 4 years now, have always been envy my friends who use Garmin. This app basically bring your Apple Watch on par with Garmin. Shows GPS signal strength (never start the workout until full bar), Higher frequency on GPS sampling (no more smooth corner), allow pre-program workout (very configurable), allow customisation on what is display on the watch face..Version: 4.1

Great watch integrationThis app can look a little intimating at first. But if you take a little time to get the hang of it you’ll be delighted with how easy it is to use on a day to day basis. Indispensable..Version: 4.9

Incredible app for outdoor workoutThe map feature on the Apple Watch plus all the data available of your workout are insane. Customization in impressive. It would be even more crazy if we can add different map than Openstreetmap to have different trail or path listed..Version: 4.9

You need thisI’m not the person to write reviews, but when something deserves recognition, I feel obliged to write about it. This app is sensational. I almost bought a garmin watch until I found out about this app. The data it provides and customizability for the price is unrivaled. It makes my Apple Watch equivalent or even better than a garmin in some circumstances. I am an avid Strava user and I use to record activities on Strava. But after I found this app, I will never record on strava again. It still lets you auto upload activities to strava and ports all the data over as well so it’s a win-win..Version: 4.3

Incredible app for runningI’ve been using this app almost daily for more than a year, and it’s not just the best app for running, it’s probably the most comprehensive, detailed app I own. It supports nice quick “run” or “cycle”, but I can also easily create custom options for things like run 10miles alerting me if my speed (or cadence, or HR, etc) drops below the level I need. I have used it to train for and run two marathons, and having the ability to design the watch screen exactly how I want is so useful. On race day I only want to see pace and distance, but in training I want to see heart rate, time left, map, next track, etc, so I just have multiple screens and swipe between them. I’ve emailed the developer with questions multiple times and always got an instant response, and always answering my question. Cannot recommend it highly enough..Version: 4.3

Awesome App for Ultra watchThe mapping functions and all the features works super well!!!.Version: 4.7

Truly amazing, like no otherThis app has just about every feature you could think of. It allows offline maps data to be downloaded to the Apple Watch so you can use the maps without an internet connection. It is very useful when running in unfamiliar areas and helps me to get around. There are all sorts of workout modes. The developer support is also top quality and he responded to my request in what must have been under an hour. He was very helpful and gave easy instructions to access the feature I was asking for, which was the ability to use maps on the Apple Watch without starting a workout. You can customize just about everything in this app, even more so than Apple’s Workout app. There are tons of notification options for all different events, and you have options between haptic, voice, and more..Version: 4.1

This is the app I’ve been looking forThis app is great - it’s completely customizable AND the help section, when I can’t figure something out, is easy to read and actually helpful. I bought this because I wanted to program customizable intervals for running, but the maps showing up on my watch screen has been a bonus - I’ve found places to run I didn’t know were in my area and I can use this map when I’m cycling. Hands down, the best app I’ve ever tried.Version: 4.1

The Most Incredible Watch app!The developer of WorkOutDoors has created a masterpiece app for the Apple Watch. I have tried over a dozen fitness apps (literally) for the Watch. None match the smoothness and functionality of WorkOutDoors. Plus, it's map/navigation performance will amaze and delight. A+ P.S. Why, in the name of all that is good and holy, is WorkOutDoors not listed in Apple's Watch App Store as a premier fitness app? If Apple wanted to do itself a favor, it would draw as much attention to this app as possible since it does a better job of demonstrating the full potential of the Watch platform than any other app of which I am aware. Please know that I don't know the developer, or am associated with WorkOutDoors, in any way. But, in all modesty, I know a great Watch app when I see one. 😏.Version: 4.0

One of a kindI am a runner and a cyclist. I enjoy mountain biking and riding new trails. I have found the Apple Watch to be a great tool for tracking my activities and even playing music when running but was severely lacking in maps for off road activities. This app was the solution to that problem and most likely prevented me from buying a dedicated fitness device like a Garmin watch or cycling computer. I was bit skeptical that this would actually work well but I was blown away. I customized the screens just the way I want to have them for my activities, downloaded some maps to the watch for offline use, and even loaded a gpx route. I hopped on my mountain bike and went for a ride and it all worked perfectly. The upload to strava at the end of the ride was perfect as well. Bottom line: This is a fantastic app! Well worth $5..Version: 3.2

Great app to use and don’t need any othersI really love this app for my new Ultra Watch and the developer is so quick to reply your enquiry. You can feedback your thoughts and they will let you know whether the function you need will be added into list or not. So many functions and self definition functions could be used and don’t want other apps at all! Thanks for developing this app..Version: 4.7

Turns the Apple watch into running watch.I bought a cellular watch for safety reasons, assuming I would still need to wear my running watch to capture all my metrics. But this well designed app tracks all the data I need, and it is easy to understand. My stats are easy to import into Training Peaks and the app works seamlessly with my Stryd pod. Money well invested..Version: 4.5

Amazing app or every type of workoutWould highly recommend this super customizable app..Version: 5.3

Best watch app for workoutsThe best watch app hands down for workouts and activities. Integrated map is great for not getting lost. Pre-loading gpx routes is also a killer feature..Version: 4.5

Best running app for Apple WatchComing from a garmin Watch, I was used to highly flexible and customizable screens on the watch, no other app can come close to the configuration and flexibility of this app. To add the ability to load routes or simply have a breadcrumb of any route you take, without needing your phone is just amazing. Allows you to really be free with your running and always get back home. Can not wait to use it with hiking. The depth of data is quite amazing on the iPhone app as well. Seeing what your stats were at any given point of your run, right on your phone after the run is just unheard of. Did I mention you can “share” directly to garmin connect from within the app which can then feed strava, map my run, etc. or you can use RunGap or similar app to export from health to your favorite running tracker..Version: 3.0

Superb Workout AppBy far the most comprehensive and user friendly Workout App I have encountered. Prompt and helpful customer support. I highly recommend this App. Definitely deserves a 5 Star rating..Version: 5.3

This is THE app for trail running and hiking on an Apple WatchIf you’re like me, and you trail run/hike a lot and you have an Apple Watch but want the functionality of a Garmin or Suunto, this app effectively turns your Apple Watch into one. I love how customizable it is, so I can see on one screen my map and route, distance, time, cumulative elevation gain, speed vs my target speed, and my heart rate. Amazing. But beyond that, I emailed the developer Ian today about how to extend battery life since I’m going on a long 8 hour run, and he responded within 20-30 minutes with a list of super helpful tips, including a major one—if I decide to recharge the watch mid-run with a power pack , make sure to end the workout because watchOS may kill the app and I’d lose my workout data. I find it’s rare to have such a committed and engaged developer, so this puts WorkOutDoors at the top of the GPS mapping/outdoor activity tracking apps for the Apple Watch. Thanks Ian!.Version: 3.2

Perfect on the Apple Watch UltraHaving purchased my new Ultra, I wanted to make use of the full real estate of the screen. I’ve replaced Apples workout app on the home screen with this and it delivers everything I want and more. Being able to see all the stats in real time rather than waiting until you’ve finished is really useful. I had an initial issue with distance not being tracked. I contacted the developer and was a Lamaze f to have a response so quickly. The issue was actually just my privacy settings preventing data sharing. I’d recommend this app its worth the money..Version: 4.7

Great appHaving tried every running app out there (and I mean every), this one is the best. Clearly focused on the watch it’s very easy to use and quick to sync. The routes of runs on the phone are very accurate and detailed giving all the relevant info. All I’d ask is more flexibility on what you can display on the phone when running as the distance/time info under the map is a little small and I’d love to be able to personalise this and include pace for example. Keep up the good work 👍🏻.Version: 2.2

Love it!I like it a lot! The only thing I would love to see is a translation to French. I don’t mind using it in English, but I would love to see it in French. If you guys can add French support, I will definitely change my rating to 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would love to see something like gentler streaks for a live dynamic island workout?.Version: 4.9

Richer than first appearedI tried WorkOutDoors a couple of years ago and liked it, but over the past 3 months since the Apple Watch 6 was released I’ve been using every day for running, hiking, cycling and kayaking. The richness of the functionality it provides the watch for alerting when I deviate from target pace or heart rate or deviate from a planned route are excellent. I recently sold my Garmin Fenix as WorkOutDoors makes the Apple Watch an outdoors must-have..Version: 4.2

Great appI have been using this app for about a year. I work in wilderness areas of the Canadian Rockies. I also hike, hunt, cross country ski, snowshoe. The map screen on my watch is incredibly helpful. It works well without cell coverage, most of the time I can download the maps to the cache if I know I will be out of cell range. I frequently need to go off trail and the cookie trail on my apple watch always gets me back on track. It is way nicer than reaching in my pack or pocket to get my GPS. I always set it to walk when I leave the base area and have not been lost yet. Best GPS type app I have used to date..Version: 4.3

Awesome workout appThe app is an awesome workout app. Use it just about every day. Simple to use and includes numerous workouts which can be customised. Great features include speed, zones, heart rate, map, timings, etc for workouts. I use it with my Apple Ultra watch and it’s just perfect. Support is expedient and fabulous too..Version: 5.3

Fantastic. Apple should buy thisBought an apple ultra watch and was so disappointed with the running displays and complete lack of mapping. This app does it all. Simple things like making the fonts big enough are missing from the apple workout app which concentrates on lots of useless data. The top half is wasted on a large gps icon. This app seems to let you change everything. So highly recommended. Only used for running but notice it has a ski activity so will give that a go in a few weeks..Version: 4.9

Nice AppVery informative app but for some reason cannot select the App to use with the Apple Ultra watch action button. Developer response "Sorry for the delay with the action button. This is because Apple have not yet officially revealed how apps can use it. However I have got it working from unofficial blogs and tweets, and a version of the app that supports it is currently being beta tested. When that testing is complete then it will be released to the App Store.".Version: 4.7

The app everyone should have! This app should come with every AW! “Fitness” is completely worthless compared to this app. It’s the only reason I haven’t sold my AW yet. All screens are 100% customizable, the maps are amazing (they include unofficial trails that I can’t find on other maps) and when your run is done, you can view all the stats on the map by dragging the progress bar or see your stats by laps (km or whatever you choose) or by intervals if you did those. The app works very well for interval training also. If you’re reading this just buy it already!.Version: 4.9

Still love this app ! When will you Update for series 7 screen? This app works so well on the apple watch, loading gpx tracks and making map available offline. Great app!.Version: 4.3

Makes the Apple Watch actually useful for the outdoorsGlad I found this app. So many features, so customizable. The interface takes a tiny little while to get used to but once you get the idea it gives the watch a new meaning. Please keep up the good work..Version: 4.7

WonderfulAbsolutely stellar app. Unquestionably the best value on the App Store..Version: 5.3

The app that brought me back to Apple WatchLong story short; I used the app ages ago and loved it, but fancied a watch other than from Apple. Bought another (COROS), but missed the customisation and capability of WorkOutDoors so much it eventually brought me back to Apple. This is my favourite app and my sole reason for owning an Apple Watch. I recommend it to anyone - there’s admittedly a bit of a hurdle setting it up the way you like, with there being so many metrics, but once you have it working for you, it has no equal..Version: 5.1

Hallelujah! Finally my watch does what I hoped it would! I’ve tried many other navigation/mapping solutions for my watch but all left me frustrated and disappointed, never quite managing to nail it. Either slow, hard to use, fiddly. WorkOutDoors finally makes my watch do what I imagined it was capable of. I can download offline maps, upload a GPXs, and the watch displays the complex route for me beautifully. I can zoom in and out seamlessly on the watch, without lag, and easily switch between data screens. Everything is customisable and easy to use. I’m very happy. Excellent app. If could rate it higher I would..Version: 4.5

BrilliantThis app is fantastic. I use WorkOut Doors to record my runs as the screens for the watch are insanely customisable and contain all the information you can imagine. I use Strava as a running diary and this app exports the runs seamlessly. One suggestion I would like to make though: when looking back at your workout a play button could be integrated with variable speed so we don’t have to drag a finger along to see different points of the workout, even so - five stars!.Version: 4.1

Shaping up as the best activity tracker for Apple WatchThe main thing you need to know about this app is that the developer is fantastically responsive to user feedback, and as a result this is as feature-packed an activity tracker app as you’ll find for Apple Watch, and the first one I’ve found so far that accurately tracks cadence. The mapping feature has been useful when running unfamiliar trails - when following a preloaded GPX route it’s very clear from a quick glimpse at the wrist when you’ve wandered off the path. While I’ve noticed and reported a couple of minor glitches in this new version, the developer’s commitment to supporting his users makes this very much a 5-star app..Version: 2.0

Absolutely love thisSo far the best running App I’ve come across.Version: 4.9

This app deserves 10 starsWorkOutDoors adds about 95% of the functionality (maps, data screen customization, custom interval workouts, etc) that you get with a higher-end Garmin watch. Unless I’m going out overnight my Fenix 7 just sits at home. If you enjoy outdoors sports or recreation even a little bit I can’t imagine you won’t love this app..Version: 4.3

A complete devotionSeriously!!! How much work is in this app, and for how many years now? It’s been there for a while, and all Garmin lovers and reviewers have praised it for a reason. If you like having all the data or if you just want customizable data, or even if you don’t care but want to register your activities, it is perfectly synched to your Apple watch ecosystem and will update your Strava as well. It is the app for all sports, it also addresses the flaws of Apple activities like XC skiing that haven’t done much on the native app for years despite the community’s criticism!.Version: 5.3

Want navigation for running? Get this.I have always just used the default Apple Watch app for running as it’s done everything I need. However when travelling I was carrying my phone to follow a route which was a bit annoying. (I even dropped my phone on a run in London and smashed the screen!). Recently started using this for runs following a route and couldn’t ask for anymore. Just ensure you’ve enabled all the health permissions and you’re good to go. Highly recommended. Thank you..Version: 4.9

Best running app for Apple WatchI installed this app two days ago and have been amazed at the unmatched customisation within the app for every bit of data you could think of. I have used it multiple so far and nothing comes close to the amount of data available to display. Just a few suggestions for further development: ability to completely turn off or on the notifications for ‘target pace’ (e.g in running pop ups will come up - ‘fast pace’ or ‘slow pace’), ability to turn on or off constant heart rate tracking, ability to create a pre-scheduled workout on the watch in case you don’t have your phone, and to create multiple notifications in the pre scheduled workouts e.g one beep at 20 seconds and another at 25 seconds. This is without a doubt the best running app, and with these few more features it’s everything I could possibly ask for. Great job!.Version: 4.1

Great app for running a new route.I never normally write App reviews but I have made an exception for WorkOutDoors as it is a game changer. You can plot routes using any mapping app, i use OSMaps as it allows snap to footpath, and then export and import the GPX at the touch of a button. WorkOutDoors then can easily send the route to your Apple Watch and auto downloads the required tiles for offline maps. It’s really very easy and works a charm. Once the maps are on your watch you can run with a map displayed. Your route ahead is clearly marked along with where you have been. The maps are vector base and move and zoom smoothly, even on the Apple Watch. I use this app for planning and running routes in new areas. Previously I just had to try to remember the route and inevitably go wrong, but not any more. The user interface is easily customised and can display as much info as you like. It really is the best app out there for my usage, but can also do so much more. The data generated is easily added into the apple health app and also other apps such as Strava. The other great thing about this app is that it does all this while not harvesting your data for its own nefarious purposes as so many others do. Thanks for the all the hard work to the development team..Version: 4.4

So many metrics. Makes the Apple Watch a useful sports watch.I was initially disappointed in my Apple Watch after using a Garmin for years. This app has enough fitness metrics detail to satisfy me. Far better than the standard offerings..Version: 4.2

Download Apple Watch mapsMost performant app award, from me. I came for downloading a map on my GPS Apple Watch, showing where I was on the trail no cellular needed. Then I wanted intervals, how about announcing my interval pace and heart rate at the end of each interval— done. Anything you want you can do, with so much customization you have to spend some time setting it up once, but then you’ll love how powerful and limitless it is..Version: 4.3

Feature rich / best workout app for Apple Watch by farI downloaded WorkOutDoors after purchasing the Apple Watch Series 7 Cellular. Coming from using the Garmin Fenix 6S (still use for long runs), WorkOutDoors blows away all other Apple Watch Exercise Apps. This App has unrivaled watch based real-time graphing of metrics that you won’t find from other apps. The amount of customization and data available compared to the underwhelming Apple Workout App is night and day. For the price, buying this app is a no brainer if you’re a runner / outdoor enthusiast and want a huge array of customization, data fields and a really nice “bread crumb” mapping feature..Version: 4.4

Fantastic!Best app I've found so far to have a map on your wrist. Scrolling the map is extremely smooth and fast. It is worthwhile to invest some time finding out about the features this app offers. Keep up the great work!.Version: 3.2

Excellent functionality and easy to useI use this on my Apple Watch when walking and hiking. The maps are detailed in Canada and include trails where I live. It is nice to be able to zoom in and out using the crown..Version: 4.9

The bestAs someone who used the Apple workout app, but missed the Garmin watches ability to show a map while running. This has been the best!.Version: 5.2

Best app for running for IwatchThis app is absolutely amazing. I can’t recommend it enough. It has a map, you can save the maps offline, you cat setup custom workouts, you can setup notifications for so many things. It’s just great. If only the Iwatch battery lasted longer. But this has nothing to do with app. It has also improved so much in the last months, adding also navigation and notifications for when you lose the route. If I had 6 stars I would give it 6..Version: 4.3

The Apple Watch’s killer appThis is the app to get for your Apple Watch. The amount of data you get is absolutely phenomenal, both on the Watch and on your phone. Plus, you can customize it to fit your needs. I certainly don’t need all the metrics, but the automatic Strava upload makes it much more convenient than using the stock Workout app. I will say though… it’s been a year and I desperately wish it had always on display support. Many other apps, like Smart Gym and Strong, support it, and is the biggest feature I miss from the stock Workout app. I always check my watch and the black screen on WOD annoys me a lot..Version: 4.3

Probably over the top for me!Just wanted an app with a few more settings than iSmoothRun and this one fits the bill. Nice screen options to display while running. Just soooo much options it's a little overwhelming when you first use it.Version: 4.2

Excellent!Heaps of options available and works very well! My go to app now for running. Would like to see a notification of some sort that shows you your stats once a month etc..Version: 4.1

Fantastic appThis app sat on my phone for a year before I actually started using it. Should have done so much earlier. Has all the features I want. Easy to use. Love this one. Highly customizable trainings plans are immensely effective in driving running economy improvement. Without reading any kind of user instructions, within fifteen minutes I had HR Zone based speed workouts, pace based speed works, and tempo run workouts created and uploaded to my watch. Yesterday went out to the track for the first test run. Had to figure out some of the features through trial and error (could have saved some effort by reading the online use guidebook), but halfway through the workout had everything I wanted to know figured out..Version: 4.2

Turn your apple watch to a GarminWhile using my apple watch seriers 3 i had issues with upglouding to strava. In the workout app my distance was cut by 7k and in Strava app my hr just stopped mesuring and i needed to pause and repasue to get new metrics. I had concerns spending $5.99, but I went for a run and I loved it. before the run I upgloed the gpx rounte to the watch and dowlanded the region I was runing in. While running it gave me realy nice metrics, I can also change the screens. I can set intervals. And the best part everything uploded to strava + my cadence upgloded as well The best ap for apple watc.Version: 4.5

Astonishing!What a powerful app! Worth every cent!.Version: 4.7

Please add a crop toolApp is fantastic but it lacks a cropping tool, which is crucial when one forgets to end a workout. Please make an update that adds this feature. Thanks.Version: 4.9

Most useful app for the watchHave been waiting for something like this for a long time. Love the new update with the addition of steps and more. App dev is very responsive to suggestions. Takes a complication space on my watch face.Version: 1.2

Unlock Garmin mode on your Apple WatchAs a long time apple fenix user, I love the Apple Watch but always missed having offline maps for trails. This app fixes that problem and I couldn’t be happier. Great Ui, and I love having a Map only mode so I can track my hikes with the apple activity , but quickly switch to the trail map when I need to. Overall, just buy it. Thank you !.Version: 4.9

Best running app on App StoreBy far the best and only running app to have for running! I’m a trail runner and the ability to load a map that is displayed on the watch face with live metrics position. Definitely worth the very cheap price! Couldn’t recommend more! Great work!.Version: 4.2

OutstandingThis app is simply outstanding. It unlocks the power of the Apple Watch and provides all of the metrics that you could wish for. I’ve found it to be really simple to set up. Everything is customisable so that you can have what you want, where you want it. The synchronisation to Strava is flawless. I’ve bought it because I want to start heart rate training. The native app is very basic, the Strava app is awful. This app is phenomenal. It beggars belief as to why Apple don’t improve the functionality of the native workout app because the watch is clearly capable of far more that the workout app provides for. I’m using a series 4 watch. I wish I’d found this app much sooner. Again, it’s outstanding..Version: 4.1

Best running app I’ve had and I’ve only begun to scratch the surfaceI’m a developer and keen runner. I’d been seriously been thinking about writing my own running app because I wanted something that makes full use of the Apple Watch’s functionality, is customisable to suit my runs and doesn’t lock down the data. Many other solutions provide some of the above, but not all, and most at an exorbitant recurring fee. I’ve only had this app for just over a week, and it’s far exceeded my expectations. Great value as well. I’m sure there’s more I can do with it, but so far it’s exactly what a running app should be..Version: 4.3

Fantastic app!I have only used for tracking my cycle rides with my bike but it works flawlessly for that. pairs really nice with the Apple Watch and IPhone. Great purchase and value!.Version: 4.9

Finally makes the Apple Watch a true sports watch!I’m a competitive runner, and have used a Garmin watch for years. I’ve tried switching over to the Apple Watch on numerous occasions in the past, and although I love the smartwatch capabilities, the Apple fitness app was always severely lacking in my opinion. I couldn’t customize the information I saw, and didn’t have access to anywhere near the amount of data I did with my Garmin, so I was never able to stick with the Apple Watch for long. That all changed thanks to this app however. The level of customization, and the amount of data available to me rivals — if not surpasses — that of my Garmin, and has FINALLY made the Apple Watch a viable competitor to dedicated sports watches. If you’re a runner, or an athlete of any kind, and find the Apple fitness app lacking, I HIGHLY recommend checking this one out. Well worth the cost..Version: 4.3

OutstandingDon’t normally leave reviews but this app achieves something I haven’t seen in others for the price. In my use case, I use it for hiking and walking routes I haven’t been to before. Importing a gpx file and following the trail on the very detailed maps, which are silky smooth. The metrics you can dial into are unlimited and really it’ll give you any stat you want. I have a simple screen of the map, heart rate, steps and miles etc but for someone interested in running etc, there are countless options. This is the app that stopped me paying 600 quid for a top of the line Garmin watch, now if only Apple could offer the battery life to go with it.Version: 4.3

The App that makes the Apple Watch worthwhileOkay maybe not entirely the only reason to have an Apple Watch, but by far this is the best, most flexible and most useful sports app I have come across. Have been using for well over a year now and is quite simply excellent. With the ability to tailor the screen(s) to just how you want, to suit the activity and what you are trying to achieve results in much better training plans - and the very detailed maps means that you never get lost again (as well as giving you the confidence to take more varied routes). Minor point but linking to a bike power meter would be nice … though not the end of the world… I’m spoilt by the functionality so expecting it to do EVERYTHING 😀.Version: 4.3

Incredibly VersatileWorks awesome, exactly what I was looking for, for tracking enduro dirt biking metrics. Highly customizable down to every aspect, including map symbolisation aspects and the information you want to be visually available the Apple Watch screen. Also not subscription based, big thumbs up..Version: 4.9

I Have Never Loved An App So Much!I never write reviews because I’m lazy and most apps are just meh to me. I’m a runner and I left my Garmin forerunner for an Apple Watch and almost immediately regretted it. A couple of internet searches led me to this app and it has been a game changer. I can customize my screen layout with the exact running metrics that I want to see while I run. I can set intervals with audio cues and view my heart rate zone while doing fartleks. This app is what the Apple workout app should of been. My absolute favorite thing about this app is that it is a one-time fee instead of the subscription model apps that everyone seems to be implementing nowadays. 5/5 stars and I will (and did) recommend!.Version: 4.2

Customization is incredible!I love this app! Setting up workouts using WorkOutDoors is so much more user friendly and detailed than the app I was using previously. It took me a few runs to hone into which key details I wanted to be able to quickly see (and which I didn’t), but once you fine tune your screens to your liking, it’s awesome. I have also used this app while hiking and the map features are helpful. Highly recommend for AW users looking to ditch their Garmin. The only thing it is missing is ability to track miles on running shoes. Also, unable to edit distance on indoor runs (to match distance on TM) like you can with other apps, so I label the workout with the # of miles run for reference..Version: 4.3

I’m totally convincedFollow up to the OP: I continue to be amazed at the quality and depth of features in this app. The user experience is excellent and delivers top notch metrics for just about every user. My use of the app so far is flawless and enjoyable. I have contacted the developer with questions and he has responded quickly and professionally. This is definitely one of the best app purchases I have ever made. PK I’m a lifelong Garmin user but this app just convinced me to get the Apple Watch Ultra. The degree of customization and preferences that you can set up is incredible and far exceeds the Garmin offerings. There are so many other features that make this app completely worth its price. I don’t even have the watch yet but I’m already sold on this app! That’s a first for me. I’ll return later with a field tested review. PK.Version: 4.9

The best there isI spent quite a bit of time trying to find an app that did exactly what I wanted: easy creation and editing of running plans that work immediately and perfectly with my Apple Watch. I tried many apps, some free, some with a one off fee and some which required subscription but none of them were either as easy to use as WorkOutDoors or as glitch-free in operation. There’s nothing worse than getting to the end of a long, carefully paced run and some bug causing your run data to be lost from your watch before being saved and exported. Not had one issue with this one and just wish I’d found it sooner. £5.99 very well spent indeed..Version: 4.3

AwesomeWhat a great app!! Used it to import a gpx file to apple watch series 4 then followed it. Was spot on. What made it even better is when I left the route. I was thinking I'd have to walk a main road back (I know the area) but used the watch to zoom in and find a public footpath through fields. Didn't even know the route existed and I've walked a similar way many times. You just look for green slash lines on the map. Took me all the way home! Super impressed. My mates are getting it too 👏🏻.Version: 3.2

Great Apple Watch appI got a S3 Apple Watch recently and I like the basic functionalities provided by a few native apps but the main problem I have with the smart watches in general is I don’t find any other apps particularly useful on watch. I rarely find myself prefer to use the watch version of the app when I have the phone. I am very glad I found this app though since it actually provided added utility to the watch when i am outdoor either doing exercise or hiking. The transfer of map from iPhone to watch is especially cool since you don’t need the phone around to look at the map on the watch. It basically replaced my native watch exercise app whenever I am outdoor. I liked it so much that I gifted one to my wife so she had to try it out. I’m not 100% how much battery it uses compared to the native app but so far seems alright..Version: 2.2

Most sophisticated iOS app and Apple Watch app available for running and more.If you are a stats geek or want to follow specific training or workout plans this is the app for you. I have tried every Running app that has an Apple Watch companion and nothing even comes close to this. The ability to customize every screen you see, the ability to customize every interval you run (I use it for running but it has modes for every type of activity you can imagine from skiing to horseback riding to yoga...), the ability to have haptics and spoken alerts and screen messages when you are off pace... it’s really endlessly configurable and just incredibly well done. Thanks much guys for all the hard work that went into this!.Version: 4.2

Literally The Best Fitness AppIf you are using Apple Fitness or Strava to track your workouts you should buy this app now. Here’s why, The app allows you to see vastly much more data than Apple Fitness and you can see it it your own custom way (better than Strava). Worried about not being able to show your workouts on Strava? You can upload them to Strava whenever you want. You can customize the watch app for when you’re on a run or a bike ride or anything else to give you exactly the data you want. You can import GPX track files to go to the route you want. Downloading maps to the watch, yep you can do that too. It allows you to get an amazing view of maps and terrain. If you’re thinking of buying a Garmin and ditching the apple watch? Buy this app, save all that money you were going to spend on a Garmin and buy something to help your fitness journey. Literally the best money you will ever spend. I am actually bummed out that I didn’t use this earlier so I could analyze every detail of my workouts like I do now. Get the app!.Version: 4.3

Sets your watch free!I’ve just upgraded my watch to the Series 6 Cellular model and love going for long walks. Until recently I’ve been using my iPhone to handle all of the route tracking for new trails and for recording my walks, but with my new watch I got to thinking, why did I need to lumber my iPhone around (the wonderful but heavy XS Max) when my watch has mobile data connection, GPS, Compass, Altimeter, etc? Surely, I reasoned, with all of that tech built in there must be an app out there that does not need me to also carry my phone with me! After lots of downloads and lots of disappointment I stumbled across this app and it’s perfect! The customisation is huge, adding routes via gpx files is easy (top tip, download trails in gpx format for free from AllTrails) and there is no need for you to take your phone with you. Buy this app now, it’s simply the best out there!.Version: 4.2

Perfect for Running and BikingLove this app, Just what I’ve been looking for!!! Spent hours and hours over the last month trying various apps, my search is over!! Works great for heart zone training... works well with my iWatch. Clear displays and easy to read while running or biking. I’m over 50 and usually need reading glasses but the readout is large enough so I don’t have to wear glasses while running!! It’s even easy to download routes I create from other applications, routes off the internet or routes that my friends send me. In addition great analysis tools after my runs or bikes. Can’t wait until spring, I plan on using this for hiking as well..Version: 4.4

Great app so farIt is fantastic that this is not a subscription. I refuse to buy any app that requires a subscription. I had some difficulty initially setting up interval schedules due to the wording used in the app. I sorted through it after a couple hours fiddling around. I emailed the developer and was very surprised by how fast he responded. Definitely recommended the app..Version: 4.9

Best Apple Watch app availableYou have an Apple Watch and it does not already have this app then you have a rubbish watch. This is hands down the best app for Apple Watch it does everything you need to record and track your workouts. Not quite as pretty as Apple’s own app but sooooooo much more useful and it still syncs with apple health and related ecosystem. Also work seamlessly with Strava. Just friggen download it now and you will not be disappointed. I use it everyday now..Version: 4.3

Outstanding app for the Apple WatchThis app literally transforms the Apple Watch for runners, hikers, and cyclists. If you like to navigate with maps and follow a defined course, this app is a game changer, addressing one of the biggest weaknesses of the default workout app. The ONLY annoying problem is the watch screen keeps going to sleep while using the app during workouts to save battery (grey translucide overlay) which requires a flick of the wrist to go away. This isn't the developer's fault and I suppose many users have complained to Apple about it. Hopefully they will allow us to disable this in a future update. Again, outstanding work!.Version: 4.7

Fantastic app, fantastic supportAlways loved this app so was pleased to see it now supports Bluetooth sensors. Had a problem getting my Moofit cadence sensor to show on my watch even though I had paired it using my phone. Emailed developer on a Sunday and they got back immediately. Problem was I had not updated the Apple Watch app as well. It appears Apple have an issue with automatically updating a companion watch app if installed. So something to watch out for if you have a similar problem. Keep up the excellent work..Version: 4.4

Incredibly well doneI’m very active running, biking, kayaking, hiking. This app has all of the metrics I’m looking for AND much more. I especially like the interface when I am customizing it for my personal preference. This is a must have for anyone who cares about fitness metrics..Version: 5.2

Amazing App - I have an issue though…I recently started using the 'WorkOutdoors' app for my outdoor workouts, and I must say that it's been an amazing experience so far. The app's features are comparable to my Garmin Fenix 6X Pro, and it has proved to be a perfect companion during my runs and hikes. However, there are two small issues that I noticed while using the app. Firstly, whenever I import a GPX file, I find that the first part of the route is always missing in this app. This could cause some inconvenience, especially when I'm following a particular route and need accurate directions. Secondly, it would be great to have a feature where the app vibrates or makes a noise before I have to make a turn. I've missed a few turns during my runs because I didn't realize that I was heading in the wrong direction. Overall, I really like the WorkOutdoors app, and it's been a great addition to my workout routine. With the inclusion of these few features, I believe it can be even better.".Version: 4.9

Super Amazing!Love this app! In fact it’s now my favourite watch app! It amazes me that Apple, Google etc have not done this. So well done to the developer of this app for getting it sorted! The mapping is spot on. Perfect for when you are out on a run, bike or walk. I love that it has footpaths and leaves breadcrumb trails so you can go off exploring without getting lost. It also has an arrow that points back to your starting point. Very cool for those days when you get lost in the woods! The fact that you can upload maps is also brilliant. Often out in the wild, the signal is rubbish, so this feature is game changing and a must! The data collection is fantastic also and auto syncs with other apps and the Apple HealthKit/Activity app. For those like me who like to see what they have achieved, this syncing is a massive bonus. If you are after a mapping app for your watch, this is it!!! Love it!.Version: 2.0

BrilliantThis App is amazing. For the price this blows most fitness apps out of the water on the Apple watch. The detail and customisation is first class. I usually use a Garmin Fenix as it has all the detail that was missing on my Apple Watch, now I don’t need to worry about it. The App can import a file from anywhere to follow, or I can just record an activity and use the mapping if required, which is detailed enough to get to where I need to. Overall, this is fantastic and way better than the Apple app, NRC and other apps for fitness activity. I recommend 100%..Version: 4.8

Best fitness appWhile the app can be complicated due to the amount of customisations, it offers you all the functionality you could possibly want in tracking workouts..Version: 4.3

This is a new level of awesome!I was a former Garmin user and loved the information provided. I gave in and bought an AW3 earlier this year. I fell in love, for the most part. Garmin offered me way more running information. The Apple Workout app is really nice, but extremely simple, aka lacking. I tried the NRC app. Nicer, but it crashed a couple times during my best runs. Information gone. Today I read the reviews and decided to try another 3P app. Holy Cow!!!! For $5 I feel like I got the deal of the century!!! It’s like having a $250 Garmin. It’s everything you could want in a running app, and more. (Except a vocal cue) Mr. Developer, I would pay double for a web page of this information. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾.Version: 3.2

Great for running!I just discovered this app via reddit and I wish I found it sooner. I'm training for a marathon and I like to plan my routes ahead of time. This app is perfect for my need. I imported a gpx file for a 11 mile run into the app on my apple watch and left my phone at home. The app showed me the route in bright color and I just followed along all the way till the end. It saved the run to the Apple workout app with the map of my run too. When the weather gets warmer it'll be a very useful app to go hiking with. One thing I wish the app has is voice guidance and if it could tell me the miles I've run. Hopefully these features will come in future releases. Oh and the developer was so quick to reply when I emailed with questions. I highly recommend this app..Version: 2.2

If you purchase one sports app it should be this one!!When I say I have tested pretty much all the top sport apps I mean it - Runkeeper, Strava, Zombies Run & Nike Run Club to name a few! This has an amazing amount of settings and configuration for those that want to tweak things to have it how they want it. On the other hand it is also simple to just open it up and run, cycle etc. As someone who has a non LTE Apple Watch and runs off-road I wanted an app that would allow me to download maps to my watch and this does it perfectly. I can now run and not get lost :) It also syncs with Strava so data can be viewed out of the app which is awesome. Just buy it :).Version: 3.2

Works brilliantly on apple series 6 watchI’m not into all these fitness routines that most apps push but do like to go for long walks and if possible record the route and how I’ve done so spent quite some time looking around and checking reviews. Thought a lot of them were being pushed by magazine’s etc then came across the app WorkOutDoors. Noted no monthly subs and only one purchase cost. Looked at app and was very impressed, you can select loads of activities including outdoor walking. Brilliant , tried it out , great detail on local maps and all paths and routes displayed. Everything recorded. Route , altitude , heart rate , pace , distance. Etc even on watch 👍. Don’t do many reviews but pleased to do this one. Hope it helps someone ? Gerry.Version: 4.2

Perfect except for always on displayI was contemplating between getting an Apple Watch Ultra and getting a high end garmin. I was really leaning towards the Garman because I do a lot of running. That is until I found this app. Several Youtubers were mentioning it so I gave it a shot and man it is a game changer. It really makes your Apple Watch into something that can compete with a dedicated fitness watch like the Garmin, I love having maps where I can just look down and see where I’m at at all times especially as I run very far and I get tired and sometimes it’s good just to get my bearings. The only thing I wish this had is support for the always on display and hopefully that is coming soon..Version: 4.9

FantasticThis app has saved me from throwing my Apple Watch away!! Every workout I did using the standard Apple Watch fitness app, the watch would continually pause for no reason during my workouts! I tried everything! This app has stopped that and it records everything and is so customisable! Seriously just get this app!!! 100% the best workout app ever! Yay!.Version: 4.9
