Slide for Reddit for Negative User Reviews

Amazing but needs chatsLove the app, perfect set up, but I use reddits chat feature a lot, and while the app has access to the personal dm feature it doesn’t have access to the chat feature, at least anywhere that I can see,.Version: 7.1.1

Won't play video properlyNice app with good features, but won't allow you to unmute videos. Tried and tried but eventually had to uninstall..Version: 7.0.0

Great app but constantly crashingI love this app but it constantly crashes on 2019 iPad Air.Version: 5.1.2

Could be betterCrashes alot.Version: 5.2

Want to love itCame highly recommended and visually I like it so far. Small things that all add up to keep it from being a viable option. If you visit a subreddit and Pete the info button at the button of the screen, there is no way to exit that page. You cannot swipe on any edge, there is no X to press, no back button, nothing. Clicking a link on that page will obviously take you to that link but then the back button will take you BACK to the info page. It’s absolutely maddening. Also an option to keep the back button shown at all times would helpful when simple swipe to go backwards or forwards doesn’t work..Version: 5.0

Update ruined this appLet me start by saying I have been using this app for a long time now. And it's been my favorite for a very long time. But the recent app has absolutely killed it. The UI is so much worse. Not only that, but it seems about half the time I go into the app, I have to force close it and start over cause it won't let me click on anything. For the first time in a long time, I'm forced to choose a different Reddit app..Version: 6.0.8

Good potential, but needs a fixI love the aesthetics of this app. I've tried several Reddit alternatives and the UI for slide is by far my favourite. Unfortunately its also appears to be the most buggy. It tends to crash and freeze fairly often. It definitely needs an update to make it usable..Version: 6.0.11

Apple Watch v4This app not working on Apple Watch V4.Version: 4.0

Good. But the copy from the clipboard for no reasonThe app is probably my favourite Reddit client. I was getting ready to pay for Pro but then I started seeing random pop ups telling me that it was copying things from my buffer. I can’t find any explanation from this. Can the developer help me understand why, or help me disable this feature? This is a deal breaker without an explanation and I’m sure there’s a sensible one..Version: 5.3.1

Seems to be abandonedSeems to be abandoned now and of course I only find this out after paying for “pro”. Should have done better research..Version: 7.1.1

Something is wrongNsfw post image previews are not showing and I can’t turn them back on, this is a major problem. I will uninstall slides if I can’t find a fix..Version: 7.1.1

Crashes so muchI downloaded a ton of reddit apps for fun and the only thing holding this one back is how much it crashes. Im on iphone XR so its not a computing power issue. Its worse now it crashes on start.Version: 6.0.11

Disappointing DesignI was excited to find a Reddit app that hyped thoughtful design after the official app made watching videos a nightmare. Slide has a user-friendly build but one infuriating, unchangeable “feature”: Post titles/info are listed AFTER post content. The only sub this doesn’t matter in that I’m subscribed to is r/nocontextpics. With Slide, EVERY sub I’m subscribed to is r/nocontextpics. Slide looks like a decent app otherwise. But unless I’m missing a setting that populates the data as it is intended, this seems like another case of someone on the design team saying, “It’s not stupid - it’s innovative!”.Version: 7.1.1

New update step in wrong directionUsed this app for about a year daily, love it. However his new update makes swiping(or sliding I guess) a mandatory way to navigate from threads and subreddits. Which COULD be a very powerful feature however some of the gestures do not make intuitive sense i.e. swipe up from bottom to go to menu appears from the right is not intuitive and I have to actually remember to swipe from the bottom. Also on the topic of swipe from bottom, why implement this feature when it standard to go to the home on like most if not all iphones? Navigation to and from threads is also confusing. Left and right swipes being dedicated to switching subreddits is also reserving the two most common gestures for a feature thats made redundant by the subreddit list which is a much more convenient(not swiping for ages) and faster method to navigate subreddits. This is a very strong app which with some careful design and stability work could definitely be the best reddit app out there..Version: 6.0.2

Good but not so stable.Shadowbox seems to crash very frequently. Always hide read posts/mark posts read when scrolled off screen don't seem to be working also.Version: 5.1.1

Buggy on iOS 12.5.5Using with an iPad Air 1. Sometimes freezes, other times crashes. Frequently, when I open a post the top controls vanish so there is no way to close the post, forcing me to manually close the app and restart it..Version: 7.1.1

Constantly crashingUsed to be great, but since the last update it started crashing increasingly frequently. It has always crashed, but recently it has started crashing 2 or 3 times every time I sit down to use it. At this point it has become almost unusable. I also don’t like the recent UI update either, it doesn’t improve anything and im not a fan of the style changes..Version: 6.0.6

Could be a great app one dayHas a lot of great features and very customizable. Unfortunately it doesn’t work very well on any iPhone I’ve tried it on, XS Max, 11 Pro Max, and 12 Pro Max. It frequently stop loading new posts, and then will only load one new post when you hit the end of the current screen. I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling and it will eventually always begin to fail. Attempted to communicate with dev, but extremely combative. Try Apollo, much better app, more stable across more devices. Bought Pro on this, because it seemed like a great feature set. Definitely not worth it..Version: 7.1.1

WatchOSI downloaded this app mainly because I could browse Reddit on my watch but all I keep getting is a buffering screen. can this be fixed at all.Version: 7.1.1

Great UI, very buggy thoughI bought the premium- gotta help those devs out. But this is the most unstable Reddit client I’ve ever used. Crashes frequently, and doesn’t always respond to inputs. Not worth the premium..Version: 5.1.1

Crashes too muchThe UI is garbage..Version: 5.3.1

Old Yeller of iOS Reddit AppsThis app was amazing for years—but in the last 1-2 years, it gradually got worse & worse. Scrolling for too long? Crash & back to the top for you. Switched to a different app for too long? Guess you want to see everything you just viewed again (this is with “hide viewed posts” on, btw). Up-/downvoted something before the crash? Too bad, vote not saved. Try again. I loved this app when I first got it, but it feels like it… aged over time. I feel bad uninstalling this, but reading reviews, there’s better Reddit iOS apps out there. For all the years it gave me, I can’t rate it any lower. But if I’m being honest? It’s felt like a 1-2 star app for a while now. It feels like it’s suffering trying to load image albums, much less videos & external websites. This app slows my phone down more than any other if I’m being completely honest—will completely freeze my phone at times. So long, old faithful. You had a good run..Version: 7.1.1

New update made it worseSharing feature is broken again and who though it was a good idea to eliminate being able to close the current tab just by tapping or swiping down on the background....Version: 5.1

Hot garbage for anything but text and imagesThese issues weren’t present just a few months ago but now 90% of gifs and videos won’t play at all, then link below does nothing. Eventually you’ll run out of content while doing what the app names itself for, sliding to the next post. You’ll just be forced to stop and manually scroll all the way down to load posts instead of loading more content automatically. A lot of post links are broken too like imgur pictures so if you wanted to open it in safari, you’ll have to go a roundabout way to copy the URL and paste it yourself, because it’s too difficult to have working buttons I guess. Normally I’d not be harsh on a free app however if you plan on charging for premium features then your basic features need to work, plain as that..Version: 5.0

Endless bugsSlide truly has the most potential of any Reddit client. It has an astonishingly beautiful UI and it particularly innovative with the user experience and customization. However, it gets 2 of 5 stars because, despite the above, it is virtually unusable. This is essentially alpha quality software. There are bugs absolutely everywhere. This app needs far, far, far more QA. The dev ought to consider taking a pause on feature development to focus on fixing all of the various issues..Version: 5.2

Shadowbox issueI love the Shadowbox but I can’t stand the upvote and downvote location at the bottom right. Every time I click downvote or upvote it just takes me to the comment section. I want to be able to upvote and swipe to the next post with ease..Version: 6.0.12.5

Crashes and pastes my clipboardPretty weird how the app pastes from my clipboard every time I launch it. Also crashes from time to time. Other than that, has a decent interface and great features..Version: 5.3.1

Pretty good. Needs some stuff and fixes thoughThis app is great, and honestly provides a pretty great experience compared to the main reddit app. The UI is pretty flushed and can be navigated through easily. There are some things that should be added like being able to search by community flair, and choose between being able to see saved comments and posts, . And there are bugs such as the app freezing and crashing, and posts not showing the correct thumbnail image or video, skipping posts on its own, and randomly making all of my posts stop showing, but Im sure that will be fixed over time..Version: 7.1.1

Almost?I really want to like this app, however, it appears I cannot completely get on board. The biggest issue is the fact that it consistently shows me posts I have already seen. I have the verified my settings, but whenever I hit hide, some still show up. Even if I refresh, the first post is always there. With all the high ratings, it must be something I am doing wrong, so I keep trying..Version: 7.1.1

Keeps crashingThis would be an amazing app except for the fact that it keeps crashing. Also, sometimes it randomly stops marking things as read while scrolling..Version: 6.0.12

5 stars when functioning correctlyThis is by far my favorite Reddit app. Been using for years. They must’ve pushed out an update that broke it because the past few weeks, it’s been freezing constantly. Sometimes, the entire app becomes unresponsive. Sometimes, clicking on comments won’t reveal the icons to upvote, downvote, etc. On top of that, there now no way to search a subreddit and subscribe to it. Like I search it. It pulls up the subreddit. And then there’s nothing but the posts on that sub. You can’t search the sub. You can’t subscribe to it. Maybe an update broke my settings, but it’s becoming frustrating to use..Version: 7.1.1

Won’t work if you use Apple ID log inHeard great things about this, but sadly can’t get it to work as I use Apple ID and that doesn’t seem to allow it..Version: 7.1.1

SttutteryNot quite as good as other reddit apps. Noticeable stutter around the interface - even when gifs disabled. Inconsistencies in how posts are displayed also detracts from experience.Version: 5.2

No longer supportedAn absolute shame because this app was legitimately great however it seems development has been fully halted last year according to their GitHub..Version: 7.1.1

Quality has gone downCrashes way too often. No sounds with gifs. Can’t open subreddit links in anything other than a pop up. Infrequent updates..Version: 5.3.1

Don't botherCrashes every 5 minutes.Version: 5.3.1

UI NightmareLures you in with the good looks, but: - Can’t tap/swipe outside pop ups for comments to close (universal expected behavior), need to scroll up for X...but not too slow! - Breaking their own convention, you have to swipe away subreddit info screens, no X. And tons of other inconsistencies. - Subreddits you don’t subscribe to open in miniature pop out like comments. Waste of space. - In fact poor use of space all over. - Settings are vague and don’t explain what they do. - Settings are organized so related items are in completely different screens. - Disregard for Apple design language. I am a UX designer. This app clearly doesn’t employ anyone in that position or, if they are, are being ripped off and stolen from. Right now they’re getting by on the lack of options and poor official app. Combine this with eye-candy to catch the lay person’s gaze..Version: 5.1.1

Can't handle comments collapsThis app is almost perfect when it works. It has more comprehensive settings out of the bunch apps I tried, when it comes to what swiping does and doesn't. But! 9 out of 10 times it messes up while handling comments collapse. ie sometimes it will collapse all but still show the root comment and there's no way to collapse that no matter what I do. And then if I don't give up and back out soon, the entire app will crash..Version: 7.1.1

Built-in browser needs back buttonThere needs to be a back button for the in-app web browser. When I click on a link, and it takes me to a website, and on that site, I click on a link to another page, then again to another page, I need a way to go back to the previous page..Version: 5.3.1

Would be perfect if it didn’t crash so muchLove the app. It’s great to use most of the time. However it crashes way too often when viewing simple gifs. Another annoying thing is that the audio in sound gifs muted itself when you click on the gif or when you rotate the phone screen. If the crashes can not be fixed easily, at least make it so that the sound stays on please. Otherwise great app..Version: 5.0

So buggyCan’t share from saved posts. Slow to load videos/gifs/images even on a fast connection. Can’t use swipe gestures when opening subreddits separately from your feed. Trying to turn sound on in a video from someone’s submitted history just closes that video and profile instead. Stuttery videos even when they do load. The list goes on..Version: 5.0

Great but buggyHonestly the best reddit app for iPad by far, on features and aesthetic. However, it crashes non stop. To the point of being unusable, 6-7times in 10 mins..Version: 5.2

Crashes constantlyAn otherwise fantastic app let down by constant crashes..Version: 5.3.1

Lots of crashing and freezingAlso the ease of use just isn't there.Version: 5.2

Cant open app on apple watchIt is a good app but i cant open it on the apple watch, it just stays on the loading screen. Is there any way to fix this?.Version: 4.0

No longer supportedI've tried the top Reddit clients and liked this one best, enough that I paid for the premium only to realize that it hasn't gotten any updates in months. When I started seeing the posts about this app being dead I realized I threw my money away. It's a decent choice and there is definitely potential for improvement, but it seems it will never see the light so you should probably stick with the free version or try something else..Version: 7.1.1

Buggy, crashes oftenI have stayed with Slide for a while now, but it often completely crashes. Since the most recent update, when I go to one of my own comments through my profile, the ‘load full thread’ button immediately disappears so you can’t see the rest of the comments. Really irritating..Version: 7.1.1

My only complaintIt won’t let me login.Version: 6.0.11

Doesn’t download anymoreBeen using the app successfully for a while until from a 2 or so weeks ago it says “error finding video URL” whenever trying to download. :(.Version: 5.3.1

Audio settings ruin this appAudio is always muted by default no matter which audio settings are enabled. Tapping the mute/unmute icon is beyond frustrating as it fails to register most of the time. Gone back to using the official app..Version: 7.1.1

I wanna like itIt’s tough. As a heavy Apollo user Im use to a certain kind of customization that no other application can match. Slide comes close, but just doesn’t scratch the itch. The way things are organized and categorized are just meh. I’ve tried many combinations, but at the end of the day I just hate the UI and workflow. It feels very counter intuitive to get to specific subs, etc. I’m hard stuck Apollo for now, but I’ll continue to check the progress from the dev..Version: 7.0.0

Sketchy clipboard usageLet me start by saying that I really like Slide’s features and it’s my preferred Reddit client. As of iOS 14 I find it alarming to see that it accesses my clipboard every time I open the app and I t’s especially concerning when I have passwords from my password manager in my clipboard. An aside in relation the iPad app - I wish that unsubscribed subreddits would appear using the split view rather than the pop-up window. It kind of defeats the purpose using the app on the iPad, I think..Version: 5.3.1

Awesome app with bugsLove the fluidity of the app. Will buy premium once the crashes are fixed..Version: 1.1

Great Potential, But...I love the interface of this app and enjoy the swiping animations. However, it has a few bugs. The “set as default” toggle for individual subreddits never works for me, even after I went through everything in settings trying to fix it. While trying to upvote swipe, occasionally I end up going back out of the post, and I wish I could swipe from the right edge to get back into the post where I was. This app also crashes frequently, which can be frustrating if you’ve searched something in a subreddit and completely lose it— you’re forced to have to go searching for it all over again. Overall, an app with great potential, but many obvious bugs that make using it a little frustrating..Version: 5.3

Crashes constantly on iPad.Not worth your time..Version: 6.0.12.5

Just badAfter seeing the reviews I thought this app was going to be good especially with the new update stopping crashing but no I didnt fix it every time you select anything in the menu it freezes.also the app is we slow when going through it making my phone lag a bit(iPhone 6 but it works fine with normal reddit).also the app doesn’t let you search without an account what? If want to search without an Account I should be able to even the actual reddit app allows that.not only all of that but the layout is not comfortable at all the text below the images? You can’t even see it half the time and you can easily get 2 posts mixed up. And guess what I’m not done the comments are uncomfortable to read since it’s too simplistic since the line that’s on the normal reddit app is replaced by nothing,no line, and just colours also since the title of the sub is so large you can accidentally click on it (you can turn of sub names off but that’s just weird). Yeah so please fix.Version: 6.0.12.5

Great but unstable.Great looking reddit app would use full time if it didn’t seam to crash every time I use it and then reload from the start..Version: 2.1.2

Hides everythingShows only 6 posts on the front page then says check your filter settings if you dont see anything, there are no filters set to hide anything, app decided to filter things on its on, uninstalled..Version: 5.3.1

Just crashesThe app crashes immediately on iPad Pro 3rd gen. Its been two weeks—no fix..Version: 1.4.3

Extremely Buggy iPad Pro 2020In general functionality is excellent and would be 5 stars apart from constant and unignorable stability issues on iPad Pro . Freezes up at least once an hour and becomes unresponsive.Version: 7.1.1

Not worth itCluttered, strange to use and not really any better than the default app. Apollo is much better..Version: 5.1.2

Buggy, stops working and I have to close it and reopen it every couple minutes. Please fix your app.I’ll be using the app and then it’ll stop working, I have to close and reopen it because it’s broken..Version: 7.1.1
