Yoink - Improved Drag and Drop for Negative User Reviews

Built-in iOS Handoff and Airdrop makes this rarely usedI have an iPhone, Mac and iPad. I bought this as it seemed like a useful tool for cross device practicality. It didn’t live up to expectations. The Mac app works great because it is there whenever I drag an item. Obviously an iOS device can’t action that. That is my first gripe; its very cumbersome compared to airdrop/handoff. Second; in the app, I don’t want an iPhone workspace and an iPad workspace. I just want one iCloud workspace (that can also pick up files on my Mac). Thirdly, with iOS handoff and airdrop technologies it makes this app massively underused. If I press copy anywhere on my iPhone and press paste on my iPad, it just works with handoff. Compare that to this app, where you have to purposely share, open that today widget, or open the app itself. Then if I saved on my iPhone, I have to open up my iPad open the app change the default workspace from iPad to iPhone just to see the contents. I know a lot of my points here are actually iOS limitations, but just having one iCloud workspace would make this a lot more practical for me, especially if I could pick up the iPad and iPhone workspaces from my Mac..Version: 2.0.1

Was excellentNeed an update that fixes an issue where Yoink not only takes takes a long time but sometimes freezes when I share items with it. Also, it seems to be deleting said items into the trash can without me performing the action..Version: 2.1.5

Not there yetI really want to like this app, but it still falls short of Gladys. I was so happy to hear it finally (finally!) got iCloud sync. But, nope, still not right. It syncs, but BY DEVICE. Instead of combining everything together, you have to tap at the top and select a device. So, when you want to find something, you have to open each one separately. Why? Nobody does this. Also, being able to edit text in place sounds great… until you find out it uses a microscopic font size. I hear Yoink is great on a Mac, but iOS is a different animal..Version: 2.0

Legacy widgets???Could you please finally support normal (not legacy) widgets on ios?.Version: 2.4.2

Not working as it shouldOn the keyboard the app asks me to select all items that i need to copy to clipboard and only the last one gets copied. Requesting refund.Version: 1.0

Not really useful for iphoneThe yoink’s keyboard requires "full access" and I don’t want to take this risk. According to Apple, this “full access” allows the app to monitor everything we type, including passwords etc. Without the keyboard, yoink is a mere place-holder similar to other apps (like Apple Notes) and lost its attractiveness.. I’d rather use the built-in Notes app for copy-patse. Yoink would require switching apps to copy-paste like the Notes anyway. Update: I appreciate the feedback from Developer regarding the “full access”. Still, even with “full access”, the app would need some more design to be useful. In my opinion, the keyboard should allow us to paste directly from keyboard (rather than its current copy-mode only and forcing user to navigate and paste it again). I always lost my current clipboard if I wish to paste an item from the keyboard, because I would have to re-copy items from the keyboard first. The app only * automatically * stores the clipboard when we switch and open the Yoink app (heck it does not mean automatically at all) I have used Yoink on Mac and really like it. But on iphone, I found this app more painful than Apple Notes. I will wait for next versions before using this again..Version: 1.1

Unintuitive, and lacks basic featuresWhatever this app does, it doesn’t do it very well. First of all, the search feature within the app usually doesn’t work, so it’s difficult to find what you’re looking for, and to organize things into stacks. A lot of the time, probably most of the time, it doesn’t pick up words that I search. Secondly, this app messes up my phone’s keyboard. Yoink’s keyboard add-on is terrible. It has no search feature, so it’s useless because there’s no way I can find a link that I need if I am unable to search for it. Anybody who has accumulated more than a few links will quickly notice this issue when they cannot search for any of their links through the keyboard add-on. The only thing they can do is scroll through everything manually to try to find a specific link, which is usually impossible if you have accumulated many links. Not only is the keyboard add-on useless due to the absence of a search feature, but it gets in the way too. I keep accidentally selecting it when I’m typing on my phone, and I have to keep exiting it so I can continue typing a text message normally. I have had Yoink for years and waited that hopefully there would be an update to fix these issues, but this hasn’t been the case. It’s still the same clunky app, which lacks basic features. I’ve lost hope that this app can ever become useful, so I think I’m just going to delete it and give up..Version: 2.4.2

Dissapointing app, developers misleading.I really hate being mislead. you say on your site "use yoink how to transfer files between iPads iPhones and Macs.. and synchronize items across your devices using iCloud" I purchased the app only to find out the Mac app doesn't sync with the iOS app. the two are independent??? why don't you make the explicitly clear. you also mention in some respnses that iCloud sharing is coming. can we know when?? (ie provide us with the date of when you expect that to be releaaed) especially for users who bought the app expecting that feature to already be included. Would love to hear from the developers why I should keep yoink ... Gladys app seems to have gotten the iCloud sharing feature right and they offer it for free....Version: 2.0.1

Keyboard isn’t goodThis app adds a custom keyboard to your iPad, which lets you drag things off the shelf from there. Seems like a good idea, but in practice I just found it annoying. The keyboard appearance is amateurish, and the layout differs from the standard keyboard, messing up your typing habits. The band above the keyboard, holding shelf items, takes up valuable screen space. A waste of $2.99, unfortunately. There are other similar apps out there that let you try before you buy..Version: 1.0

Good, but could be a lot betterI have been using this app on Mac for some time now and I love it. With iOS I see a immense opportunity for this to be a stellar Apple ecosystem app. I love how iOS devices sync via iCloud, but this leaves the Mac app with handoff in a weird position. I can see from my iPad what is in my iphones yoink and vice versa but where is Mac in this game? Handoff? Nah. I’d prefer to have a complete cross device iCloud syncing, where everything that had been dropped to yoink or copied to clipboard was simply there, synced. Hope you guys add that feature..Version: 2.0

Frustrating! This app has removed all my stacks and a bunch of links since the last update. Drag and drop on iPad is frustrating as it keeps trying to open a small Safari window as I’m trying to drag. There should be an easier way to add items to stacks besides dragging it around all over, looking for the appropriate place. Using “edit” you should be able to select items then add them to a stack. I want to like this app, but it’s ruining, not helping, my workflow!.Version: 2.1.4

Works great, until it don’tGreat concept but once again a receipt I saved to Yoink via the share manu is not there. The grey little dialog pops up, adding to Yoink, but went back later - nothing. I have the settings confirmed, some times it works, some times it don’t. I have to go back to saving directly to my file manager again. I just cant have this works two times out of three thing that’s happening now..Version: 2.0

Crashes and I lost all my dataI love the idea but currently too buggy. I’ve deleted for now but might try again in the future.Version: 1.1.5

Works well for what it is BUT NEEDS CLOUD SYNCI have used Yoink on my Mac for some time. Conceptually Yoink is much more “necessary” in the i-Device universe. Yoink works as advertised BUT it is a shame that Cloud-Sync was omitted. Once you use Yoink it becomes immediately apparent that “the missing sync” is a problem (for iPad + iPhone users). I am hopeful that Cloud sync is upcoming, and my star rating will be upgraded at that time as well.....Version: 1.1

Off Toggle STILL needed for Sync By DeviceI really wish this app gave its users the option to turn off sync by device. Id much rather have everything in one Yoink window then constantly having to switch device in Yoink. I use 4 iOS devices! Put a toggle in settings, so if you want to turn off sync by device you can, those who like it can also keep using it. Or maybe have them in one window. iPads files, then scroll down and there are the iPhone files and scroll down and then the Mac files.. One window only! It slows down my workflow immensely constantly switching the device i’m getting the files from. Other then that, the app works okay, i find it slow when it comes to syncing. Edit: I’ve decided to uninstall this app on all my devices. The stock Apple “Files” app basically does the exact same thing and works far better in my opinion. So this app for me has become both inferior and redundant. Like Yoink, I can keep the Files app loaded in my slide over apps on my iPad. It also updates everything instantly on all my devices, which Yoink does not. I find syncing on Yoink very slow. Also, if you want to use Yoink with your Mac you must also purchase the Mac version of the app, another advantage for the stock Files app which is free on all Apple devices. Finally, it also doesn’t “sort by device” which i find really annoying and unnecessary. Which means i can set up my syncing folder the way that works best for my workflow as opposed to the developers vision. Thanks..Version: 2.1.6

Notification pop upI do not want to allow notifications. This is why I tapped not to allow notifications. Not a difficult concept to understand. 8 times in the last 20 minutes yoink asks again if I would like to allow notifications. NO I WOULD NOT....PLEASE STOP ASKING.Version: 2.1.4

Not Compatible with IOS 14.3Does not work with IOS 14.3.Version: 2.2.3

LanguageHi, I just bought the app, when opening it for the first time, all text was in foreign language, a bug that is very disappointing for a paid app. I went into the iPhone settings, opened the Yoink settings, everything is still in foreign language, tried all settings and still not able to use it in plain English. Need help!.Version: 1.1.5

Super handyThis app Has made my life and workflow like 10 folds more efficient. Also first I read the Privacy Policy and I bought the app with no hesitation. Kudos to the developer for respecting the user privacy. Such people are becoming more rare everyday. So I gladly paid for it..Version: 1.1

No updates. Widget is outdatedYoink used to be an amazing app. Unfortunately, it looks like its development was abandoned… There haven’t been updates in over a year. In my opinion, one of its main funcionalities is the widget that allows us to quickly add and retrive text from clipboard history. The app still hasn’t updated to the new widgets introduced on ios 15 or 14… Maybe now, with iOS 17, the developer will update it to have interactive widgets..Version: 2.4.2

Inconsistent at BestI love the idea of Yoink however I am having a huge problem with the "syncing" to iCloud. This has happened on more than one occasion and I'm either going to have to switch off iCloud syncing or stop using Yoink all together. This is what is happening. I save items that's I'd like to either look at later or share later to both my iPhone and iPad, this last instance was on my iPad. So after a while I'll launch the actual app to look at what I've saved, clear out items I no longer need, share items, etc. I see the items on the iPad and then I swipe over to the iPhone to see what's there that I might want to look at and it showed six items. Then I switch over to the iPhone because I'm sure I have more than six items saved and it shows 13... then it syncs with iCloud from evidently the iPad "sync" and I LOSE seven items!!! This is not cool at all and it needs to be fixed..Version: 2.1.6

Changing my rating after losing all bookmarks.I bought this because I was super excited that yoink synced on iCloud between various iOS devices. However, when I send a clip to yoink, I don’t want to have to remember whether its on my iPhone or ipad, but rather to have one repository. It seemed a workaround is to use Yoink on one device and then open it in handoff on the other so that it can copy changes from one to another. But even that workaround (when it works) is super kludgy because you’d have to do it for each and every change. In the middle of one of those “syncs” yoink lost the data for BOTH of my devices. This will be a must have app for me provided it can universally sync all changes to any synced iOS devices. Please let me know when that is the case!.Version: 2.1.1

Drip, drag ,saveQuick keyboard shortcut, Lacks search option to be quickest.Version: 2.4.2

App is good, but missing iCloud sync with macOS is not good, even when promisedI have been using Yoink for many years on my Macbook(s), iPad(s) and iPhone, I have also been waiting for years for the iCloud sync functionality between iOS+iPadOS and macOS, unfortunately this hasn't happened. Recently I removed Yoink for the iPad(s) and iPhone, there is no reason to use them without iCloud Sync with macOS. I hope this situation will change, I have sent direct emails to the developer asking for it, with no response, thank you.Version: 2.4

UselessNo user interface for my IPad. I purchased it to share across devices (2 IPhones) and there is no option for that and the files don’t show up. When I long hold a file their is no option to move the file to Yoink. I can only save to Yoink when I initially download a file. Useless otherwise..Version: 2.4

Same or lower functionality than Gladys which is freeI’m very disappointed, I moved from gladys app because I though that for the price I was getting something better. Is it possible to sync across devices that will be a huge improvement..Version: 1.1.5

Can not share x call backThere's no need for this app when it is easy to store or open in many apps in ios13. I just need something that can link xcall back link - so I can reference any item from anywhere via url..Version: 2.1.1

Does not work with every app and is fidgety with the one’s it does.See title..Version: 2.0.1

Great App Concept / No support thoughLove(d) the app concept of collecting links to things I wanted to come back to when time permitted. Also liked the fact I could sync via iCloud and look at across my iOS devices. Collected over a hundred items and then app started to crash. Had to ultimately delete app/reinstall to remedy issue. Restoration (from iCloud) of all I had collected looked great until I realized non of it was usable. All the ‘links’ collected were text so couldn’t quickly click to revisit something I had Yoinked (aka bookmarked). Too much work to recreate and emails (plural) to developer have gotten me nowhere. RADIO SILENCE..Version: 2.0.1
