✓ It’s a cool app but I don’t get that much tells and it’s hard to find people😂😂.Version: 2.9.2
✓ ScamI downloaded Tellonym and was initially excited about the prospect of asking and answering anonymous questions. However, my experience with the app has been disappointing. I have received random messages even though I never shared my link publicly, which makes me wonder about the security of the app. Additionally, the app prompts users to purchase hints in order to reveal the identity of the sender, which seems like a ploy to extract more money from users. While I appreciate the concept of anonymous messaging, the issues I have encountered with Tellonym have left a negative impression on me. I cannot recommend this app given the concerns I have outlined..Version: 3.60.6
✓ Blocking does not work for Anonymous Senders.Tellonym claims that blocking works for anyone who sends an ask, both logged in users and anonymous ones, yet it does not. I’ve gotten the same harassing message that asks for my location spammed to me multiple times, and I have added ALL of those messages to my blocklist, only to find no end to them being sent to me. It doesn’t work. Do not recommend this App if constructive criticism is what you seek. You will get many of these harassers and almost no positive feedback at all..Version: 2.9.4
✓ Very, very slowThis app used to be great, and it still is for the most part but it’s so slow that it’s nearly unusable. the buttons don’t work half the time, and it takes at least a second to type each letter. There are also a lot of bot-generated questions which are meant to make sure you’re still using the app, but they get very annoying..Version: 2.40.3

✓ Bots + Other IssuesAside from getting scripted tells (which has been a problem for the past few years) i’ve seen a lot of bot run accounts following my account and liking my posts nearly every time i reply to a tell. Despite these issues the app is one of the better platforms for QnA’s and performs well the large majority of the time. I just hope that addressing the earlier issues can improve the app for everyone.Version: 2.56.2

✓ DISGUSTING & DANGEROUS APPI have just found this app on my daughters phone and I am disgusted and shocked to see what has been written on her page. This app is being used by most of her school and she is only in Y8 but what’s an age confirmation tick box preventing anyone of any age downloading and using it clearly. This app needs shutting down as it is nothing more than a bullying platform which can lead to only dangerous and life destroying outcomes I will be bringing this app to the attention of my daughters school and I urge other parents of students in secondary school to do the same before it’s too late and have a life lost to this stupid platform.Version: 2.9.3
✓ It’s Fine and It WorksFirst off, I downloaded tellonym when curioiscat suddenly disappeared. It’s been an adequate replacement to let my followers send in ideas and comments and the like. The problems I have for it are 1. The app itself frequently prompts you to add personal information you may not want tied to an account online (occupation, gender, phone number). This may be fine for people who use it casually with friends attached to a personal account, but it’s not so good for online creators who stay somewhat anonymous. 2. The bot questions the app generates on its own are VERY annoying. They’re very basic question that are not fun to answer and just exist to help get tellonym’s name out there. If you delete them, another will come in a few minutes. These need to be gotten rid of to not clog up the inbox or send a notification that there’s a question when it’s just a boring question generated by the app. This is my BIGGEST complaint with tellonym. Get rid of the bot questions. If I want fake questions not sent by friends or followers that badly, I can just anon them to myself. It’s the same amount of genuine interaction with followers 😑.Version: 3.11.1

✓ Promotes bullyingDue to its anonymous nature, this app has allowed someone to pretend to be my daughter and allowed messages to be sent encouraging a girl of 12 to kill herself, amongst other bullying and disgusting comments. This is a vile, dangerous and evil app that is clearly not monitored, regulated, has no safe guard about under age usage (a tick box to say you’re over 17) and is literally allowing children to be told to kill themselves. The creators and App Store should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such a poorly regulated and dangerous app to be so available for children to obtain. ✓ Encourages bullying and bullies.Not only does this app encourage bullying in every form (cyber bullying and bullying) but it also encourages bullies. I’m shocked to see that there is an app out there this and Yolo which is solely for bullying. While the idea of constructive criticism is needed in humanity there is no point in your friends criticising you as there are enough people in the world that does that. However if you are a bully you will not be able to see the difference between bullying and criticism. Thanks for allowing bullies to exist and giving them a safe space to do it without consequences and creating more bullies out there. ✓ IssuesThis app is BAD! My phone was stuck on the “loading screen” for 2 days and the only way I could fix my phone without wiping it completely was to wait for it to die, which mind you literally took 2 days to shut down on it’s own because when my brother and I tried to shut it down we kept accidentally calling the emergency service and also lead to me being stuck on SOS which kept sending SOS messages to my emergency contacts. Please be careful when downloading this app, it’s a scam but if you still decide to download it backup your phone to the iCloud or what ever you devices storage is called just in case watching it’s slow battery percentage loss doesn’t work for you and you have to wipe your phone..Version: 2.66.1
✓ Bots.I like this app, I think it’s cool. BUT, most of the questions you get aren’t really from your friends. There are questions that are so clearly from the app itself and not a friend, and it’s frustrating. Questions asking about bands I know none of my friends have ever heard of, and all my friends seem to get the same question asking if you could live without the internet. The app is a cool idea, but it’s stupid if most of the questions and tells aren’t even real. ✓ Bot QuestionsThe bot questions are incredibly annoying. As a creator, I look forward to getting questions from those who read the things that I post, so every time I get a notification from the app I get excited because I’m expecting to see a genuine question that has something to do with what I’ve posted, but 99% of the time it’s just another auto generated question that is basic and not personalized at all. They questions are boring and pop up frequently and there’s seemingly nothing you can do to opt out of receiving them. At least with CC they gave you an option to stop receiving those kinds of questions but this app doesn’t, and it’s the most irritating thing in the world. I think I’ll take my chances with CuriousCat again or try out another platform/app because this one is hellbent on trying to get you to interact with it by sending stupid questions all the time..Version: 3.20.2

✓ Huge bot problem, don’t buy Tellonym PlusI’ve been using Tellonym for probably 6 years at this point. It used to be a decent app, but for the past 4 years you’re constantly getting bot questions with no way to discern if they’re from real people or not. It was fine at first as it was one tell a day, but nowadays you get bombarded with multiple tells at all times of the day that stop if you don’t answer any questions for a few days. Tellonym then rolled out their subscription service a year or two ago where you can pay to see sender hints. I was curious and decided to subscribe to it to see how it works, and it turns out Tellonym has been adding sender hints to bot tells to make you subscribe to their service. On top of this, they make the bots like/react to the questions they sent in to make it seem as if a real person was sending them in. This has turned into a scam service, so it’s a shame thiscrush shut down..Version: 3.62.3

When my phone reset, I was under the impression I could use that same information to get into the account. ✓ Perfect opportunity for abuseThis platform hides behind the premise of being able to send messages to people without the pressure of public social media platforms. What it actually does is inadvertently promote the sending of any type of message to individuals regardless of content. In the guide for parents the creators state that they promote responsible use and that filters can be use to cut out inappropriate words, the bottom line is that these filters aren’t set by default and therefore any abusive or inappropriate messages can and will get through. Teenagers and parents beware, and I speak from experience, if you want your son or daughter to be open to all sorts of questions then carry on, if you’d rather keep your sanity and your children happy leave well alone. It is heaven for trolls who want to post the most vile, graphically violent, racist, misogynistic and sexual messages imaginable. Some messages seem to taunt users to consider suicide. (“Why are you even alive? Nobody likes you.”) In addition, Tellonym allows plenty run-of-the-mill cyberbullying like: “You think you have friends, Sophie, but we all really hate you.” And because the company promises it will never reveal who posts this garbage, there is nothing you can do but request to delete it (which they may or may not), and then calm your devastated child who installed the app behind your back, because “Everyone has it.” Oh, and it’s the perfect haven for pedophiles to contact tweens and teens, masquerading as kids themselves and asking your child seemingly innocent questions like where they go to school, or requesting that they post a photo! ✓ People can get easily bulliedThe whole point of this app is that you are able to send anonymous messages, you’re asking for innocent people to be bullied and harrassed. It can heighten anxiety and stress, as you don’t really know who the message is from, it can be from anyone around you. It is a destructive app and I would advise against it strongly, especially for youngsters who are particularly susceptible to damage from any negative messages they get. My school had to launch a serious enquiry into tellonym, because a whole friendship group was targeted and girls ended up with mental health issues and all the students in their year group weren’t allowed to use their phones at school premises or allowed to use the app at all, if they did, the consequence was suspension or exclusion. ✓ My views on the app: pros and consThere’s are many cons as well as a few pros about this app. In my own personal experience I can surely tell you that I have gotten a lot of tells with threats, homophobic and transphobic rants, and other harsh things. I say that because I’m on an instance for a particular group, and we both got asked the same question for a group we aren’t apart of. So the anon link we give people appears to not be always them when we get a question. Actually, if that’s happening on any level, all of the questions we are getting may not be from any one using the personalized link that is suppose to send it to our profile. If the response rate is 3%, 10% or whatever, it would be in their interest to have us get the same question to bump up engagement, and if I am getting answers and I only get one, where do the answers that come after for the same question going? The Ui, the layout, themes etc .were all spot but one big problem started to rear it’s behind when I’d go and switch over to other apps like Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok and the rest. You see, coming back to Tellonym after skimming through those aforementioned apps with ease, lag kept this app falling behind and the speed was really affecting the enjoyment of this app. Though not immediately terminal (imo), I felt something as problematic as this deserved a 3 star deduction alone. Especially when you consider how many larger, more traffic heavy apps are capable of avoiding this. I saw an update for the during my testing, and was relieved for a moment thinking “ahh devs! But when you’re done using the app after a session of using it, you then get harasses to ‘pick up where you left off’. Since CC seems to be back now I figured I'd send a review detailing those issues since if these things aren't changed there's a decent chance I'll just be going back to CC and I'm sure many others share my thoughts. First of all, THE BOTS. GET RID OF THEM. Everybody is saying it! The constant fake tells that are always being sent in are ridiculous and shouldn't exist. Second of all, if you have your filters set to the lowest settings, then nothing should be being filtered? Right? ...Right? Well apparently not. And the app doesn't tell you what words or phrases aren't allowed nor does it tell you if something you send isn't allowed through. Instead it acts as though it sent the tell even though it didn't. It is very frustrating. Why would you have so much unnecessary filtering on an app made for anonymous messaging? Let people choose what gets filtered rather than deciding for them. ✓ Far too slowTellonym seems like a great idea- a way for creators to answer questions their followers want answering without a sense of forced intimacy which comes from directly messaging someone. but it's so slow. so so so soooo slow. i've just about gotten past the sign up phase, and i can't even send the link to my account to anyone on my instagram page because the app takes too long to edit my profile. all i need to do is add a profile picture. that's all i need to do. so i wanted 10 minutes for it to load. 10 whole minutes. and it still hasn't loaded. it refuses to load. now my profile picture is just a massive 'H'. before anyone tries to criticise me- my wifi is fine. i can go on social media fine and everything loads fine. it is purely just tellonym that refuses to load for a whole 10 minutes. i really don't know how people get past the sign up phase. please fix this bug because it's really annoying and i can't use tellonym until it's fixed..Version: 2.6.2

✓ Don’t get this app people use it as a way to bullyTellonym is a great way to get to know others but people do use it in the wrong way. I had this last year when I was 12 in year 7 I got the nastiest comments on it people were calling me fat saying that I was ugly and my confidence really went down which made me wear more makeup when that was happening people were saying wearing makeup is bad and people who wear makeup aren’t trustworthy and are ugly and it really did damage me. My best friend at the time wasn’t even helping and was acting like nothing was happening and when she did something wrong I would get the blame and get all the hate for it at the end of 2019 I deleted it. A few months later I got it back but didn’t put the link in my Instagram bio for a while then like a few months ago I put it in because I wasn’t getting hate at all when I put the link in i didn’t get any hate until august a few months ago I got a massive unneeded paragraph and it did bring me down a bit but not as much I was just confused why they did it because I was barely on social media compared to in 2019 when I put my whole life on it so i was confused and just thought they were bored and replied with a nice sentence saying bullying isn’t cool either. So I would suggest not to get this app because even if you delete the tells you still had to read it and it would damage you so please don’t get this app as I don’t want it damaging people like it did to me. 1 star..Version: 2.52.10

What is said is that the users behind this app can send you NASTY, EVILL, VILE AND THREATENING messages to the user. This can be "completely" unknown users that hide or they can directly follow you. The app says they don't reveal information, but legally if the police are involved with this then the app legally has to reveal information on messages and the user behind it. It's against the law to cyber bully. Please parents and adults be aware of this app and the damage it causes.
