Route 66 Navigation for Negative User Reviews

Save your money20$ for a map and ads. Big rip off.Version: 1.31

Non-perfect, overpriced, yet helpfulSubj.Version: 1.45

Can’t share license. After i purchased a license for this app i realized i should have downloaded to bigger screen. (Ipad) soo i did apple family share and got app on husbands ipad. Lo and behold, on order to use i have yo buy another license.no where did they tell me this in all info i read. I’m not happy with this app at all. Feel i was ripped off for $19.99..Version: 1.30

DONT BOTHERPaid 20.00 for this app. Don’t bother . Lots of crappy non existent stops. You can find the best places to stop on Route 66 by simply googling “best places along Route 66”. It will definitely save you time and money. I wanted this app to be great but unfortunately it failed and I’m out 20.00..Version: 1.31

Clumsy and overpricedFive minutes into my use of this application made it clear that it was a $39 headache in the making. Attempting to go to settings to move from metric to imperial yielded nothing but prompts to rate the app. The app is slow, non-intuitive, and a spectacularly bad deal!.Version: 1.24

Be Careful!Downloaded Route 66 to iPad Pro and iPhone 11. Thought I could purchase 7-days and use app on both devices like most apps after typing in username and password. Nope! Not with this app. So I do NOT recommend for iPad unless you use your iPad for navigation. Also, it crashed my iPad Pro. Thank goodness it came back, but not without a serious internal struggle. The app is now deleted, gone..Version: 1.33

Do not buy!Travelled Route 66 3 times now and this app takes you on the interstate more than anything, I spoke to the development team and basically got a sorry we will look in to this..... absolute waste of money buy the EZ66 guide 1000x better than this app!.Version: 1.30

NOT FREEDon’t get to happy thinking it’s free. It’s not. You have to pay a subscription to use this..Version: 1.30

Can i get a refund? Is it possible to get a refund i just spent 20 bucks on this and it was not helpful at all... confusing to use map.... didnt even use for two minutes and the app was already tweaking.Version: 1.30

PAID $20 just to have it take us OFF Route 66 onto dirt roads!Wife and I decided to take the motorcycles and ride 66 from southwest Missouri to Tulsa for our anniversary. We both paid $20 for the short term premium and the app did a HORRIBLE job routing us. Several times it took us off Route 66 onto side streets and even at one point took us off a nice paved piece of 66 onto some back county gravel road (that was absolutely not part of 66) for several miles just to bring us back onto the highway a few miles down. About halfway to Tulsa we realized it was once again about to take us several miles off Route 66 onto back country roads and we said enough, closed the app, and just followed the 66 marker signs and a google map of 66. Absolutely do not recommend this app!!.Version: 1.45

Too expensive$68.99 for a one year subscription! We are only in the US for 3 weeks and will never use it again. Disappointed, should have cheaper options for a month at least. :-(.Version: 1.0.8

Disappointed!!It shows, and says in the description, that you can navigate while in an RV. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. We were traveling in a large RV, and it took us places that were very difficult to navigate. Wish I could get a refund because this app was pretty useless for our trip..Version: 1.0.8

Двадцатка за несколько точек на карте?Это приложение не стоит своих денег, извините..Version: 1.45

CrypticThe app was marginally helpful and for the price it is way overpriced. Frustrating to use and not helpful in planning a trip. A few issues of many 1.Does not provide a drop down info for the route/direction as available on better developed apps. This was a major issue for planning and knowing where the app was taking you. 2.The app does not allow to blow up the route so your can see the route it keeps taking you back to your location. Very very frustrating. 3. The app did not take you to the historic original ending the street corner was wrong and takes you ti a corner with the Santa Monica Homopathic RX. I used the AAA Route 66 map from Flagstaff to Chicago and a few other free on line Route 66 app for some of the roads not on the AAA map and had a pleasant experience as compared to using this app from Flagstaff to LA/Santa Monica and nothing but fustration. I would not buy this overpriced cryptic app again or recommend. If you purchase just be aware of the issues...Version: 1.31

“BUYER BEWARE”“NAVIGATE 66” —- BUYER BEWARE —- FACTS: Points of Interest / Places to Visit are difficult to access ... I was in Pontiac, IL & the NAV 66 app gives me OTHER cities & no choice of current city. The app is confusing how a user gets to “Places To Visit” - then it makes me scroll down, rather than starting with where I was at the top of the list ?? The NAV 66 appears to use postal addresses, rather than GPS addresses & that places me up to 1/4 mile away for some attractions ... 09.17.18 ———— 09.20.18 I discovered rights & lefts were wrong once in Pontiac, IL while directing me to the “Log Cabin Restaurant” & once in Normal, IL had me going in a circle in Normal, IL directing me to make 4 right turns in a row ... the NAV 66 app should know where I am when searching for a place, not start me at the top of the state cities each time I return ... I was in Bloomington, IL, yet I had to scroll all the way down from Chicago, IL ... missing some interesting attractions ... the NAV 66 app completely bypassed the Bloomington, IL old Route 66 path which goes east & west through the city ... there are 2 separate Route 66 alignments in Springfield IL ... in Sherman, IL I was only 5 miles away from a listed rest spot attraction, yet the app gave me a 6 hour drive to somewhere east ... so many location pictures missing ... a couple location pics were not even the correct location pics ... for $39 ALL NAV 66 app glitches should have been eliminated, all pictures should be in place & easier to navigate too ... just to be fair, I used this APP all the way to California to make sure I was being fair in my judgment ... the quantity of the locations seems to be more important than the quality of the locations & attractions ... with so many locations just old buildings, rather than historic or interesting points of interest, it can be disappointing ... The fact that the app designer has an automatic yearly charge is a bit disturbing, since travelers only travel for maybe 2-5 weeks for a lifetime adventure. Why would a company force a person to have an automatic renewal at all? I contacted the NAV 66 APP Support & they instructed me how to deactivate the automatic renewal - easy, but a pain to deactivate. 09.20.18 ———————— 01.28.19 MY CREDENTIALS: I traveled Route 66 3 complete times in 2018. Twice from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA & once Santa Monica, CA to Chicago, IL. I used the NAV 66 app (as well as another similar app) each trip to be fair in my review. I did a page-by-page, attraction-by-attraction review of the app(s) based on my knowledge of Route 66. PartyHunter420 is my InstaGram account. #RAB66_2018 (with 1025 posts) shows my travels to verify my travel claims. The full hashtags I used are listed below. #Route66 #Route66RunAwayBill (with 1288 posts) #HistoricRoute66 #USroute66 #MotherRoad #MainStreetOfAmerica #RAB66_2018 #route66classic I also traveled Route 66 completely in 2015 & 2017 prior to using this APP, so attraction locations & multiple Route 66 routes are familiar to me. —— SUMMATION: The NAV 66 app is poorly designed & difficult to “navigate”, no easy user instructions to use the app are featured, lots of map glitches, way too many attraction pictures missing, missing many Route 66 attractions, at least 2 pictures are incorrect, too many meaningless locations & missing attraction descriptions of MOST locations. Also, to increase “quantity” of locations, several times “1” address will include 2 or more attractions ... For the money being charged for this app, all “quality” attractions should be included (& correct), no directional glitches should occur, only “quality” locations should be listed to avoid wasting travel time, ALL locations should have descriptions AND all Route 66 route options (i.e., Lincoln, IL has several - at least 3) should be clearly outlined. I doubt the designer or anyone in the company actually used this app on Route 66, otherwise there would be no missing pictures. A one-time fee should be the norm, without any automatic renewal fee ... especially for $39!! At least, as with my Garmin GPS maps, a LIFETIME guarantee of all updates is available for this kind of money. RESEARCH: I tried to verify & contact the 5 “positive” review people listed for this app. I wanted to see if any of those posting a review were able to teach me “positives” of the NAV 66 app that I possibly missed. Unfortunately, “P and C Phillips” does not appear in Instagram at this time. “TinaRayh” is a Private Account at this time. In addition, “Vetteguy57” & “roadttrip 2018” reviewers were unable to be confirmed NAV 66 app users at this time either. “Holly C Barker” (the 5th positive reviewer) is merely a retailer promoting the NAV 66 app from her store. Holly is merely repeating what she was told by the NAV 66 app designer, not by actually traveling Route 66 & using the app. OPINION: In addition, it appears the owner (Holly) of the “Launching Pad” may have some vested interest in the success of this app with her “opinions” bordering on that of a “promoter” (not a user) of the NAV 66 app, based on her “editorial sales-pitch” review. I find it interesting that 5 positive reviews from people claiming to have used the NAV 66 app for the complete 2480 mile Route 66 adventure OR even a portion of it have not posted any pictures of their adventures. CLOSING: As a Route 66 groupie myself, I want to give 1st-time Route 66 adventurers an idea of what they are actually getting (& NOT getting) for their money. I am not suggesting to NOT purchase the NAV 66 app, just giving potential buyers the information to make an informed decision. Frustrations on a Route 66 “once-in-a-lifetime” dream adventure should be limited & I hope to help Route 66 adventure-seekers be a little less frustrated. “Run-A-Way Bill” was here! 01.28.19.Version: 1.19

SadWhat a rip. Listed as being free then when downloaded it wants $50 a year subscription. Needless to say immediately deleted it..Version: 1.0.5

Buyer beware. $40 to subscribe for a yearBuyer beware. There is no RV guidance. Does not guide you with history or anecdotes like a gps tour. More like a map program that will tell you where to turn. Does not take current location when putting in map requirements. Has a list of places but does not put them in the map requirements when accessed. Does not tell you the attractions when you are near so you must interact with the app which is impossible while driving. Horrible.Version: 1.24

Useless without a subscription.The app does nothing without a subscription..Version: 1.33

Keeps shutting downIt’s not a terrible app but it keeps shutting down on CarPlay and I have to keep rebooting it so it’s not worth the money. I sent them a message to try to get help but they probably won’t answer til my trip is over..Version: 1.49

Yuk!Don’t offer a ‘free’ product to download and then charge to get access to it. Won’t go any further on principle! I’m looking for something for our guests travelling Route66 and won’t recommend this sorry! Paul Mullan Down Under On Route 66.Version: 1.24

Not an app. Just an ad!So disappointed. Downloaded this to find out that you must pay $30 just to use it! Very misleading. Because of that I definitely will not purchase..Version: 1.0.8

Not HappyI was not impressed with this app at all. Not user friendly and not always correct..Version: 1.0.8

SdcnjicWaste of time and money. The app doesn't work unless you pay a seven day or yearly subscription.Version: 1.33

Worthless cash grabThis isnt a free app. You need a costly license to use a glorified google maps.Version: 1.33

Completely inaccurate.I downloaded this in the hope it would provide me with some guidance on distances but it was way off after comparing with other guides and advice. Wish I hadn’t wasted my money..Version: 1.26

Pay Heed to the Negative Reviews - This App is CrapWe were only driving the Illinois part of Route 66 and wanted an app that would keep us on as much of the old route as possible and guide us to points of interest along the way. After using this app I think that the only reason good reviews outweigh the bad ones is that the people with negative experiences just wanted to forget that the app existed. The apps turn by turn GPS functionality rarely worked, often placing us in incorrect locations. Many times we ended up using Apple Maps on the same phone for better guidance. Other times if had us on the correct route but even when we arrived at a location, it said we were not there yet. We ended up not using the app at all and relying on Apple Maps and our own research. This was the biggest waste of money and if they really cared about customer satisfaction, the makers would refund my money. VERYUNSATISFIED!.Version: 1.31

App not helpful and would not show how navigate I wouldLike to cancel ASAPI would like to cancel since this would not show up on my CarPlay.Version: 1.31

Good but!First the pros, the offline maps are very good and probably saved me a small fortune. We spent 3 weeks doing the full route. The moving cursor on the map does lag a little and it is easy to miss a turn. That said without it I would have had to pay £5 a day for 3 weeks for Google maps. Cons and they are they are quite big cons. I had maps to the route bought on Amazon showing nearly every major sight or Stop. The markers on this map seem to be minor or businesses who have paid the app designer to be on it. A substantial amount of the big draws are not on this map. Disappointed. The map does not show every stop to have your passport stamped either. The owners of this app need to do the route a little more often and update it. One really big con, have the map orientate to north. It doesn’t. We had to zoom in and out to see what way we were moving. Overall not bad but it needs some updating from Those who actually do the route. Put all the major sights on not just those who paid to be on it. A shop is not a tourist sight..Version: 1.41

Not freeTo use some of the features (like navigation) you need to purchase (subscription) a membership..Version: 1.33

Not nearly close to a decent app. Please save your money. I expect more out of a 1.99 app than this one provided. Very slow when using. Always making you make a turn around if you want to bypass a area. Apple maps or google maps works better. Just turn off tolls and highways and go from point to point. This is what i did after becoming frustrated with the app. Made the whole trip from End to Start and this app didn’t help at all..Version: 1.0.8

Misleading ScamFree to download but if you want to actually use it you must pay $40..Version: 1.41

Doesn’t WorkI paid for it just for it to go back to the Home Screen every time I hit navigate..Version: 1.33

Good app. But needs some work. The app does a good job on giving directions. It did try to send us the wrong way on a one way street. In Santa Fe, it had us going in circles. The biggest complaint and most aggravating thing is, if you zoom out and move the map to see what’s ahead, it automatically moves back to your location and zooms back in when you let go. You cannot click on a point of interest while zoomed out. Some POIs are a few blocks away and the only way to find out what it is, is to drive closer to it so it shows up on the map. You should be able to zoom out and hold then have a recentering button to bring you back..Version: 1.31
