✓ Good game, needs some tweakingI’ve been playing Horse Racing Manager for about a month now. As a veteran of 40 years at the track, as a bettor and an owner, here are my thoughts. There needs to be a betting component, with realistic odds. In this vein, there need to be some long shot winners. In the races against the computer the horse with the best odds shown by the game pretty much always wins. Here it’s worth mentioning that it is much too easy for the player’s horse to win against computer opponents. There need to be surprises. In the online races, the classes each race is open to are unrealistic. In the real world, a B horse would not always have to race against better horses. There should be more than the “B- to AA” and “AAA to SS+” classes. Let the B horses sometimes compete against the C and D horses, sometimes let them step up against better horses. And always give the weaker horses a chance of winning or finishing well, however slight. Likewise, a AAA horse is a pretty good horse. Why force those horses into races against SS horses, where, thanks to your algorithm, they have no chance? Let them run against A and AA horses sometimes. Finally, what good is the purse money you win? Other than renting stalls and paying for training and moving horses into the racing barn, not much. We can sell our horses, so why can’t we buy some, too? It’s a promising game. It’s fun. But it needs work if you want it to be realistic..Version: 6.07
✓ Fun but mehIt was a fun game but a horse ages too quick and their career goes by too fast. I got to the stage where I wasn’t good enough to win online so made no Vs points which meant I couldn’t breed foals, so I had no horses to race unless I spent real $$. Hence deleted the game..Version: 6.05

I bought $220 of horse shoes and after multiple app crashes and freezes I lost breeding rights and horse I had and after that I didn’t want to play and the app company wouldn’t refund me the money nor would iTunes. ✓ AwfulHad high hopes but another poorly designed pay to play game. 15 energy lasts about 4min game time then multiple hours to wait to refill. Why design a game and then massively limit the ability to actually play it. ✓ OkGame is ok.. but once you train your horse for over a year to get it to its potential it’s nearly about to retire... I don’t understand why the cash is there too you can use it for anything? Plus the horse shoes you need to feed your horse from all the training so you can even buy breeding rights.. game could be a lot better if things were changed.Version: 7.02
✓ Good game, needs some work on the saving methodsThe game is good, but it won’t save any progress for me and therefore I have to restart the game each time with new horses and back at the beginning of the game. ✓ Horseshoe ProblemI love this game. I do wish that it wasn’t so reliant on the horseshoe currency though. Have more than 2 horses that can race? Ha! Go pay 100 horseshoes so you can keep them for 1 year. What happens after that time period? You pay again! I also do not like how you pay for feed with horseshoes. Yes, horseshoes are a BIT easier to get than the secondary currency in most games, but I still struggle with it. And I know other players are. I would greatly appreciate it if you make things take less horseshoes. It would be better for everyone, especially those you cannot purchase in-game currency..Version: 6.03
✓ Great concept for horse racing but..Everything in the game costs horseshoes.. you get them through achievements but I mean the money you earn in races don’t buy anything but low quality horse breeding rights and hay. It’s very disappointing the work that you earn in races does not get you anything. Even the video rewards are so small that it gives the player the lack of motivation to WANT to play with high costs of horseshoe vs cash. No rewards really. My game is also so buggy that the horses don’t load properly half the time. I wish the efforts of training the horses and breeding quality horses also paid off in favor for the work vested into it..Version: 3.01

✓ FrustratingAgree with other comments about currency being useless. Surely there must be something to use it for? My bigger gripe about the game (which I really enjoyed before I got to the problem) is that once you have bought one set of 11 breeding rights, the next set costs 1,125 horseshoes. This is impossible to achieve via the game and costs a hell of a lot real money to get. Happy to pay but not £30/£40. ✓ In Game CurrencyI am having a fun time playing the game, but there is a MAJOR issue. The whole game is centered around earning in-game cash. But there is NOTHING to spend it on. The only thing you can get is extremely low tier breeding rights which serve no purpose whatsoever. I have accumulated millions and have literally nothing to do with it. ✓ Good racing, exorbitant micro transactions.The racing, training and breeding is satisfying enough for an app game but the exorbitant micro transaction prices ruin the fun long term and I just refuse to pay $160 for a couple of horses to breed and horse shoes that will go very quickly..Version: 6.04

✓ Not fairThis game is clearly not fair. Some people who been in the game for a long time are racing against people who just started meaning no matter what your horse will never advance. I believe if you are a 1 diamond horse you should race against a 1 diamond horse afterall we don’t have all the perks that those who have been playing this game for a long time have. I’m very disappointed that I had to learn this after two years at the 26-27 level for two years. Clearly unable to advance further because of impossible goal to be reach. I would like to continue playing but had deleted my account and restarted only to learn I’m at a 1 and racing a 60 diamond horse. Please correct this and make it a fair opportunity for us. ✓ Good but some flawsReally good idea and the basics are there for it to be a good game. However the following things i think need fixing... If more than one horse in your stable enter the same race they should be in the same race, not copies of the same race. Odds are not properly calculated, first because they are too short, the overall oddsmaker cut should be 5% not 200%, but also the best horse should be favorite, looks random to me. Not enough variability, horses always run as well as they can with little variation. In real world races they position differently during the race and how they are ridden might vary, who they get stuck behind etc should have some effect. Even random would be good, but perhaps including jockey instructions would be a future feature. Vs races are too random. The horses seem to be matched to other similar horses ( though i always lose so i may be missing something ). I would expect better horses in richer races etc. Breeding alway produces males. Why? Mares race, and you could receive payment from other players for breeding for example. More variation in races would be good, how about 3 year old derbies or 2 mile handicaps... which brings up, there is no concept of carrying weight so no handicaps or weight for age or anything like that. If the horse doesn’t train you should be able to feed him..Version: 7.10
✓ So close!This game is perfect in the way that it executes the feel of a managerial type game. However, the races begin with odds being displayed and before you even start the race you know if your odds aren’t “1-1” you will not win. Also, I have over 5,000,000 in game cash and all it’s good for us buying the “+5” weight after training. The other options should not be horseshoe purchases. If the only thing that was horseshoe purchases were breeding rights that’d be better and I’d be way more inclined to purchase them. If they want to charge for horse purchases, they should charge for horse readiness. Overall, very frustrating to know that I spent a couple hours with another app that I’ll delete, because it doesn’t do enough to reward the player for putting in the time in app..Version: 3.01
✓ Not bad could be betterI’m finding game play good, the energy thing is annoying like the previous comment. You play for a couple of minutes and then have to wait hours for it to fill back up. The one thing I’m still trying to find is the Spa day. I have now got a couple of these but can’t seem to find how to use them. Could you please advice on this? All in all game play is great. ✓ Do not playGame has a lot of emphasis on the micro transactions which means any money won within the game is largely useless Keeps crashing when trying to breed horses and strangely there is no option to even breed your own horses together. ✓ Some things make no senseHad a string of 9 wins with a C level horse to start its career and then opened a number of breeding rights with 7 out of 8 being A- or better. Have only had one of the 8 A level horses make it into Expert Race level. Why is a C horse better than an A+ horse with all A,AA,AAA or even S stats. Makes me not want to play the game when the highest level “champion” horses don’t even perform. Can barely crack 100-150k earnings with some A level horses even after 10-15 races. ✓ Breeding Rights DisappearI like this game but it’s very buggy for me. I have had the issue of buying breeding rights and then they disappear this is very disappointing considering the work it takes to get the horseshoes for good breeding rights. There should be more use to the money value other than the hay and moving horses to the stable. I’d like the ability to buy horses and breed two of your own. ✓ Ok game needs a few thing alteringThe game is fun to play although you have to wait over an hour for your energy to refill when you use it within minutes having to use one for every different thing you want to do, also have loads of money which you can’t spend only on training and food you have to always use horse shoes you should be able to use the money to. So far jockeys feedback the horse doesn’t like any surface surely the horse must prefer something, no control on anything at the races only the entire of the race. The game does need altering to be a better game but is fun to play for a short period. Hope to see a update at some point..Version: 5.01
✓ Only if:I’m about to delete this app and try others, I wish someone could tell me which is the best. Why? I have the BEST SS grade horses, lose every single race “live version” and I literally study the attributes of the other horses that beat mine; typically all of them. Only IF I knew why I was losing (dead last) and only if it was understandable, I might keep this game and even continue to use real currency. That being said, what’s the point of even awarding as much currency as you do when it’s not good for ANYTHING that actually matters! Only if you could use currency to get the best breeding possible, I might continue to play. But then again, I already have the best horse in every race, or top 2 , yet come in dead last. ✓ What’s the point in having cash in the game?This game has become quite boring very quickly, I seem to have a ton of cash with nothing to spend it on but no horseshoes which you actually need to do basic things with. ✓ Good but not enough energyGameplay is incredibly fun, however the fact that it costs 1 energy to do every action and you only have 15 energy units to use before you have to wait for it to recharge (slowly) is rather annoying. Just as you’re getting into the game you have already run out of energy and need to wait for ages until you can play again! A ‘use whip’ feature would also be extremely beneficial I feel as it would make it more realistic and be able to have abit of control over your horse in the race..Version: 3.01

✓ Fun game for a little bitThe game has potential to be awesome but it’s way too hard to get enough horseshoes to buy breeding rights, it forces you to spend way too much to keep weight on the horses after racing and training...there should be an option to buy horses at least so your not stuck with one that’s retired and not enough to breed anymore. ✓ Game has flawsI have enjoyed playing the game, however it gets boring. The whole game is revolves around earning cash. (Race winnings and selling horses). However there is no use for cash other than buying hay and terrible breeding rights. Everything good is done with gold horseshoes. I understand they want people to spend money on their game but it takes away the fun for most. There needs to be breeding rights available for let’s say 2.5 or 5 million with AA or A horses available. Also it is boring how race odds are pre-determined before the race starts (whoever has the 1-1 odds wins) there should be multiple horses with 2-1 odds or 3-1 odds. ✓ Entertaining, but!At first the game definitely entertains and kills a bit of time, but no where near the best racing game around! The more you breed, the harder to sustain a higher level horse. The ability to breed a Colt or Filly does not exist with the way the breeding component is set up. When specific races are about to start and hardly anyone entered then very high levelled players jump in after the cut off time, which is frustrating, and definitely have to pay to be successful. Most of the times when you watch a video to earn horseshoes you don’t receive your rewards. Seems to be too many frustrating parts then enjoyable moments! I’ve been on for about a week and close to breeding an S horse, though now lost interest and bored with the concept. Not hard to master!.Version: 7.06

✓ Horse Racing Manager 2018Update: unfortunately I deleted this game. 😟 Disappointed to see that you don’t actually do anything play wise to make your horses win. It’s just push buttons and watch the replay. Sorry but Photo Finish is the better of the two. In that game I actually can feel like I am truly racing my horses in addition to upgrading them. I hope this game be top notch I like Photo Finish 😀 Glad to have a 2nd grade A horse racing. I am also glad to see it in portrait mode. ✓ Please patch!I downloaded this game and absolutely loved it!! i played and played until i ran out of in game energy and had to take a break. when i went to log back in and play again, it gives me an error to either restart the app or notify the developer. restarting the app is of no help. the only work around is uninstalling and reinstalling the whole app! it would also be great if an aspect was added to adjust the screen size. there are a couple icons i cannot see on the top bar and the bottom buttons are just in reach on my screen! i would absolutely love to play the game normally and give it 5 stars if these were fixed!.Version: 8.7

✓ It’s good but micro transaction heavyIt’s a shame really as it’s a fun game to play and I wouldn’t mind paying £15/£20 to play it without micro transactions but you get about 2 hours in of game time not waiting for your energy to refill, waiting for your energy to refill is annoying, and you hit the wall where you’d have to play a ridiculous amount of hours or spend money to advance. ✓ Good concept, but needs serious tweaking.1) The way odds work on this game is so silly. The odds are “perfect” and pretty much, whatever odds you get, is where you are going to place. In short, I believe that the horses’ condition, preferences, strengths/weaknesses should play a higher role in the game. If some sort of new system that takes this into consideration is put into place, it could open up the possibilities for bidding. 2) Breeding rights, wth! Why is it that you get breeding rights for the same horse over and over? It’s like some kind of crappy gacha. Breeding rights may work like this in real life, but I believe for a game, it would be better if, once you got a breeding right, you have the ability to always breed your horse with that breeding partner. It’s frustrating to get breeding rights with the same garbage horses over and over again. Also, inbreeding should not be allowed! Or at least discouraged and warned of unhealthy offspring, as other more prominent horse racing games have done. 3) There needs to be more incentives to keep playing. Most of that has to do with the previous two problems I just addressed. 4) This is a good starting point for a potential Gallop-Racer style game, which I believe is the prime example of how to make a realistic horse racing game. Implementing the option for playing as jockey would add a more interesting spin..Version: 4.01

✓ Two problems (if I knew how to give 3.5 I would)Fantastic game but I have two major gripes 1) cash is useless. It buys you hay, a stable (which you need once every six years, and then a very underwhelming pack of breeding rights. The only currencies that is actually useful in this game are horseshoes, which are used for everything, but moderately difficult to get, unless you use real currency, and even then i wouldn’t call the amount of horseshoes you get worth it. 2) My second major issue is that the free hotshots videos NEVER WORK. If they did, my first issue wouldn’t be as large a problem, but I’ve watched more videos than I bothered to count and I have not received any horseshoes. Until these issues are fixed, I cannot give this otherwise fantastic app a higher rating..Version: 3.01
✓ Definitely needs improvement.I played this game for a good few hours steadily when I first downloaded it. I love the concept of the game, except breeding rights and horseshoes! Horseshoes are so ridiculously hard to come by, I hate how you have to pay in horseshoes to feed your horses. With multiple horses who are constantly losing weight, there’s absolutely no way to maintain an ideal weight because the feed costs so much versus the rate to earn the horseshoes. Also breeding rights, why do we have to continually purchase them over and over again? The ratio from horseshoe income and outgoing are not balanced at all. Will be deleted later. ✓ Good idea, still needs developmentAs a horse racing fan I thought this could be the game I’ve been looking for. Unfortunately in practise the game has many features I think are ridiculous and missing many features that the game needs. Firstly, why can I sell retired horses at their peak price. I have had the game one day and have in excess of 10 million in game currency, of which what’s the currency there for what can I even buy with it??!! Surely there should be a stable upgrade system with running costs, jockey costs and you can hire better jockeys at higher prices etc the possibilities are endless. Secondly, the progression system is non existent, after 4 races my horse appears to be an expert competing for cups??? How is this going to keep the user base active if it takes 20 mins for your horse to be competing at the top level. With a few changes I think the game could succeed hope developers see this.Version: 2.01

✓ Still needs workThe concept of the game is good, despite the limited number of actions you can actually take. Agree with earlier comments around expanded features and ability to spend money earned in other ways. I have also had issues with breeding as all new horses seem to have very little to improve in their stats apart from maybe 2 of the traits of which you can supposedly upgrade by 70+ points with one training use, but no effect takes place. This did not happen with the first 20 horses I bred and moved to stables. There was continuous improvement possible for most of the time..Version: 5.01
