Otter: Transcribe Voice Notes for Negative User Reviews

No Apple Watch support!AI pretty good for transcribing, no where near perfect, have to listen to recording in many places to get actual words, Summary could be better, nice if it could always summarise in a chosen template ie attendees, key points discussed, next steps Also no Apple Watch Support. Needs to have a single button to record (like ‘just press record’ app) audio can then be sent to iPhone to be transcribed later..Version: 3.27.0

The worst app. These are scammers, where they take your money which is overpriced and then give you a lot of hours and when you cancel the application, they remove the remaining hours though you already paid for it. Be careful, don’t be fooled and look for other applications where the developers are people with integrity and honesty and not a bunch of scammers who rip your money..Version: 2.1.45

Failed miserablyFirst off I don’t like it when you download an App and they make you set up an account before you’ve had a chance to try it. I find most apps aren’t that good so I try and most often delete them. I am a professional writer and have been trying several Speech to Text apps and so far they are all poor. The trouble is they can’t handle creative language well, such as that you might use in writing a story. Names are a nightmare, even if you teach it the name in the Vocab setting it still gets it wrong - note to developer - in order to teach the app you need to be able to speak your added vocab not just type it; I could not find a way to do this. The truth is most of these apps are under developed and while they work quite well they leave you far too much editing to do afterwards. Nice try but not good enough, sorry..Version: 2.1.27

From 600 free minutes to 300An ok product, but expensive. And they continue cutting down their free content. I don’t want to encourage sly marketing, so I’m uninstalling. Will find something that I can actually buy instead of a money grab subscription. Dishonest.Version: 3.8.0

Loved it, until it cut min limit to 1200The Pro plan (and Basic plan) has been cut a lot. 1. 1200 transcription minutes per month instead of 6000 - that’s 1/5 of what I paid for. 2. Instead of 4 hours (240 minutes), transcribed minutes-per-meeting is reduced to just 90 minutes - that’s 3/8 only. 3. Unlimited uploads of recordings for transcription has been reduced to 10 only. 4. Dropbox has been removed from Pro plan. All those changes are disappointing. Yes, you want to force people to upgrade their plan to Business then you can make more money. But what user get is not what they paid for. And all those happened during a subscription year and users who loved the App (and that’s why they paid yearly) don’t even have an option to cancel and get refund..Version: 3.27.0

Still needs work with highlighting and editingApp is buggy with edit mode on an iPad. How do you move the cursor to where you want to edit? When you tap, it highlights the word or sentence and starts the audio. Edit mode should lock out the normal audio and highlighting features automatically, making you manually play if you need to hear it. Hope they keep working on fixing these UI problems, which are frankly also a bit buggy in the browser app..Version: 3.19.0

Please support .ts files for import featureTired of having to remain silent while running .ts files just to get a transcription cause this app won’t let me import .ts files..Version: 3.32.230821

Useful, but…Otter have produced a useful tool to record events, meetings etc. In theory at the end you should have an audio track and a set of words which represent roughly what was said. I’m surprised, how often reading the transcript, it makes no sense so I have to play the recording to understand; this takes a lot of valuable time. Also, twice now I’ve depended on the recording, and found it’s not there at the end. Try to avoid this being your only record of an important meeting because you may just be let down. One positive, although the transcription is mediocre much of the time, it’s way better than Microsoft’s dictation system (on a Mac)..Version: 3.9.0

Lower performanceI want to say this app was really good before. However after the app has been updated with more features, the response time drops a lot . It is disappointing. I believe quick response time should be one of the key value propositions this app should have. After all the user wants to simultaneous transcripts. Meanwhile it is really hard for me to press the stop button when I tried to stop recording. I had to press several times and I never made it by one touch. The button is so small on the phone ! I do hope you can improve these in your next release. Thank you..Version: 3.2.0

Taken way too long to transcribe a 10 second recording. Will try this app again in another 6 months, it’s taken over 10 seconds (still processing) to perform a transcription. What’s worst is the 10 seconds are read directly from the initial setup sentence. You’d expect that to be quick as it’s part of the app’s setup. Not real time at all, hopefully this gets better with time..Version: 1.4.8

Missing transcriptions and recordings, with poor customer care.I went premium a couple of years ago, I found it very helpful. However, when I changed phones all my recordings and transcriptions disappeared with no help to follow up the problem, just stating they’re busy. I assumed it would have been backed up in the cloud so I hadn’t downloaded anything. The change of phones was because of accidental damage so there was not much I could have done to prevent the loss of information. I’m still awaiting help three weeks on..Version: 3.25.0

$44.99 CAD a monthI subscribed for one month at $16/month and just got notice that the rate would increase to $44.99/month. That’s ridiculous. The alternative was to sign up for a year for $120. Sorry guys, not ready for that commitment and don’t like being forced into it. Your revenue strategy just cost you a customer..Version: 2.1.19

Great but screen dims after 5minsGreat transcribe app however very annoying when the screen dims to auto low setting that stops you from reading missing key points at conversations. I have turned off auto brightness accessibility settings (Apple) and low battery power management and still it dims to almost black screen. Keen to buy pro edition but this issue needs to be fixed first..Version: 3.18.0

Better on webThis review is for the app, not the overall Otter service which is great. But if I have to do any editing of transcripts, I’m doing it on the desktop browser service, not the iOS app, which struggles to keep up with my edits and also suffers serial sync failures and inconsistencies, sometimes not saving my work, sometimes overwriting stuff I’ve done with previous versions to create total gibberish. It’s frustrating as I like to travel with just my iPad to work from, but tidying up interviews on the move is a total chore. The actual transcription stuff is accurate and getting better all the time, and the general service offered by Otter is better than other rivals I’ve tried. But the app needs work..Version: 2.0.26

Wasted Opportunity - Use Teams*for people recording business calls - why are you doing that when you could have people call you on Teams? I think Otter’s current use case is very specific. Why is it limited to being a dictaphone? Why can’t I use this as a voice-first word processing tool? The fact that recordings are processed and cannot have more recordings added to them afterwards is just absurd! I can’t help but wonder if the people using this app aren’t aware of the many alternatives out there. I was using the notes app on iPhone, tried this, and have gone back to the noted app. So silly to offer such limited functionality..Version: 3.19.0

No lifetime subscription full of In App purchasesDon’t recommend because of the trial version monthly subscription full of in app purchases. Lifetime subscription should be added.Version: 2.1.51

Doesn’t understand FrenchThe app looks nice and useful but I’m in a French school and it doesn’t understand French. It makes me sad..Version: 2.1.54

Good. Could have been great as claimed by editorThis app worked perfectly transcribing the college tours that we went on including with a lot of noise. Unfortunately, if the recording stopped or paused and then continued, you were charged for your total number of allowed recordings even with a pro subscription. I bought the pro subscription because the allotted monthly minutes were less than the total min of the tours that we went to. Unfortunately, because of the limited number of sessions, I was only able to transcribe about 40% of the allowed monthly minutes. You cannot even upgrade to the next level which of course you are invited to do. You have to do that on a computer which is impossible since it is an ios app. I guess I will have to wait a month to use a new set of minutes and won't receive the minutes I paid for. I have not got reply from the help links. Update: apple sent me an email asking if I wanted to contact the developers. This say's a lot. They could have contacted me if they wanted to. Apple could hold them accountable for being deceptive if they wanted to. Lesson learned.Version: 3.28.1

About the quality of notesSome conversations ca not be seen on the app, i am not happy!.Version: 3.9.0

Ads after payingThe app is cluttered with ads to upgrade or share with friends. This is expected in a free app but feels a bit cheap to do to your paying users. Consider adding a “focus” mode that doesn’t have all the bells and whistles. I just want to record audio and have it transcribed. I don’t want social or business features and I’m tired of the upselling. The accuracy is a bit comical at times..Version: 3.24.0

Too ExpensiveToo Expensive Not worth the money.Version: 3.38.231120

The best out there, but still needs improvementIt is still the best app I’ve found to do the job when recording and transcribing my therapy sessions. But it still takes me about an hour to go through the transcriptions afterwards and correct the many many mistakes, in particular to make the content comprehensible. It also irritates me that all the spelling is American so I have to correct all that too. Perhaps there are more mistakes for British accents because the app can’t detect what we are saying? I wish there was a UK version of Otter that would address these issues..Version: 3.37.231106

Worst everI’m so glad I used a practice before the start of a very important meeting because this app couldn’t seem to understand anything even remotely close to what was being spoken about. So disappointed!.Version: 2.0.14

Need a lower priced optionWorks better than other apps for the hearing impaired, though transcription is not perfect. However it is expensive especially for those of us on fixed incomes. The pro version is a bit rich for the retired deaf/hearing impaired. A lower priced option for 3000 hours would meet our needs..Version: 3.9.0

Usefulness degraded by the fact that it auto joins all meetings by defaultI downloaded this to try on the recommendation of Birmingham Institute for the Deaf. The main problem I’ve found is that it will automatically join every meeting in your calendar by default. A better default would be that you have to explicitly invite it or mark a meeting as requiring transcription. You can turn off auto join, but you have to look for the setting and know it’s there. The subscription price is potentially prohibitive for the occasional/casual user who needs to transcribe meetings over 30 minutes but not that often so don’t go over the free tier 300 minute per month limit. Perhaps some sort of prepaid credits system could be implemented where if an individual meeting goes over your tier limit or you exceed your tier total usage for the month you are charged by the minute or in 5 minute slots. This would be a similar model to a mobile phone plan where you get so many inclusive minutes and text messages each month but if you go over then you are charged per minute/text. It would also help paid subscribers who normally stay within their tier limit but once in a while have a meeting run over or extra meetings, but not often enough that it justifies moving up a tier..Version: 3.31.0

Experience nowhere near expectationHaving seen the 4.7/5 rating I've given it a go. However a transcription of a zoom meeting of 6 people who are reasonably well behaved was a total failure. The voice to text was mediocre at best and it was impossible to tell from the text who had spoken. Fortunately we recorded the session on video at the same time: it was quicker to write minutes from that than the otter output. The time saving was negative; I'm afraid the trial failed. Of the options - manual writing live, manual from video, and otter, otter was third by a considerable distance..Version: 2.1.63

Good app, however......The premium version is too expensive and the free option is too limiting - as free should be. Why can't there exist 3 or even 4 scaled options? Definitely room for 1 or 2 options between free and premium - say $50 and $100 annual options..Version: 2.1.22

Expensive and spamI have not properly tried this app because since I got it in the last couple days, they are spamming my inbox. Made the mistake of giving them my email address. I judged by the expense of the app that it was a reputable company and would not do that. I have deleted it from my phone..Version: 3.26.0

Don’t know what other reviewers meanI downloaded this app on a whim thinking it seemed like something that would come in handy if it worked well. Other reviewers said that it worked well, even in places with high ambient noises, albeit you did need to go back over it an edit a few words here and there. What came out was, to me at least, utter gibberish. It seems like if I can get people to speak slowly and clearly and without interrupting each other at any point then the app can largely handle that well, but that’s just not how people talk. Every time I tried to record something more chaotic- eg a family dinner, maybe one sentence in five was clearly transcribed with the others being almost non sensical. Perhaps my phone has out of date software (pretty sure that’s not the case) or there’s some other underlying issue causing the app to not work properly but my experience is exceptionally poor. I am only giving two stars because I want the app to get better and the UI is quite simple and intuitive, as well it has a good search feature, but without the cornerstone of decent transcription, it’s just not enough..Version: 2.0.20

I did love it but now I’m angryThis was a really great app. I used it all the time for phone interviews. Suddenly I try to import an mp3 from my recorder and it won’t work. I updated, and now it says there is a limit on imports for basic accounts (like 3 I guess). I’ve only used 14 of 600 minutes for the month (one file)! I usually only import a few a month. It says you can record directly without paying, but 1. It doesn’t record phone calls (which I am legally recording as interviews to transcribe with their knowledge), and 2. I already have the files, so I’m stuck. I’m on a time crunch so I either pay or find another app. If I had gotten a warning, I could have tried recording using my iPad and the phone speaker, but no notification it was going to suddenly stop working. So now I’m just stuck with mp3s I can’t import. Really uncool to do to your customers. You should have at the very least given a heads up. I get you want money, but that’s crappy to do to your customers. It’s also way too expensive if you only upload a couple per month. Why not offer a package you can buy? Like if I could buy X amount of transcripts for $10, I would consider doing that..Version: 2.1.22

Offline? No use to me, as hearing aid, if doesn’t work offline..Version: 2.0.21

Forgetting to end a recordingGreat app, however suggest a trigger or a prompt if there is silence or no voices for more than five minutes. I have forgotten a few times to stop the recording and used up minutes for no reason. Totally my fault but I’m sure this can be added..Version: 3.23.0

Not work if weak signal or off line! Not work if weak signal or offline..Version: 3.10.0

Way way too expensiveLoved this app, until they made it prohibitively expensive to use, with only premium allowing you to upload recordings - even for £18 a month you only get 10 uploads! Outrageous. As a journalist, the price is just not in line with my low pay and I often can’t record live as it’s just not practical in my work. It would be worth this high fee only if it could record in a different language and translate it. If anyone has an accent, I have to change half the words anyway. Not worth more than I get paid an hour..Version: 3.20.0

Be careful about deceptive pricingFor their Pro account they say for teams up to 5. What they fail to mention is that you are charged full price for each team member. Very deceptive language in their pricing description..Version: 3.29.0

Hidden PaywallI was enjoying this app and used it for my work minutes until I hit the transcription limit. I wasn’t aware that there was a limit, and wouldn’t have downloaded the app if I knew. I can’t access the entire transcript that I need unless I pay. 🫠 if you’re willing to pay the subscription price, it’s a great app! If not, maybe pass..Version: 3.33.230905

Problem for the elderlyI started using microcomputers in 1979 and as can be confirmed by googling my name I have had a highly successful career both as a senior NHS consultant and in Medical Records both Digital and Paper based. Like so many of my age (now 80) and with my mental abilities fading, I was at first delighted to find this App. Sadly it is now driving me mad. All I need at this stage of my life is a simple reliable way to turn family history paper documents into editable script but every time I have a go I find that I have forgotten how I managed to do it the previous time. When oh when will those who create such wonderful Apps, test them on forgetful elderly people? It should be so easy.Version: 2.1.58

Great app, probably the best productivity app I have ever had!I absolutely can’t fault the functionality of this app and I’m sure it’ll get better and better. However, less than a week in for me and Otter have doubled the monthly subscription!! Sorry Otter, It’s not worth £18 a month, that’s an unbelievable price hike. I’m unsure I’ll go for the annual, I was just expecting to use it for a few months to get up to speed in a few meetings I’m facilitating. 3 stars for the unexpected price increase 😞.Version: 2.1.23

Great results when something doesn’t stop the recordingI’ve always been impressed with the recording quality and accuracy of the dictation of Otter, especially by the recordings sent to me from other people. However whenever I’ve used it I’ve constantly had my recordings automatically stopped because of a phone call interrupting the process. It never continues recording and is extremely frustrating. So far I’m not comfortable paying for premium with this type of unreliability..Version: 2.1.5

Crashes continually when open in GoogleI have had to stop using Otter in Google, it continually crashes. I use it now on my IPad which is inconvenient when transcribing minutes for a Board Meeting..Version: 3.9.0

Good but some issuesOverall it’s a good software for your standard North American accent. It doesn’t pick up different accents of non-American speakers if English or speakers of other languages. You’ll get chunks of audio not transcribed or completely wrong because it doesn’t understand Indian, or European, or Irish accents for example. Use a microphone for interviews if using your phone..Version: 3.18.0

Don't purchase untilDon't purchase at least until you have used up their free trial allowance. Because as soon as you paid for the subscription, the free minutes will all be lost, and yet the paid version only allow you 1200 minutes a month, woth no option to purchase extra time, so effectively you've lost 20% worth of minutes. I am not complaining about the subscription price, as I'm happy to pay for a good app, but the developer doesn't seem to realise their paid service minutes is very limited, so for someone who actually needed the minutes, and since you are not giving option to let user buy more minutes if they need to, then a 200 minutes in the free trial becomes very important and taking it away is simply not fair for a good customer who paid you too soon! O already got in touch with customer service and their is nothing they can do about it, very disappointed..Version: 3.21.0

Annoying and unprofessional!Very annoyed with this today as itstopped recording 5 minutes into a meeting as it wanted feedback and who would be able to give when this app is meant to be recording and your doing something else. Very unprofessional. Developers please ask for feedback before releasing the transcript in future!!! Won’t be recommending until this is sorted out as as it’s not reliable and had no indication/notification this was going to be asked..Version: 2.1.30

Terrible customer supportTerrible customer support. Have contacted them multiple times without a single response. They used to be really quick at responding to queries so not sure what happened. Maybe upscaled too quickly..Version: 3.23.0

Useful but can be made to translate other languagesIt was very useful when it transcribed English speech to English text, but kind of stuffed up when it came to transcribing other languages besides English. Otherwise, I was very happy with the outcome..Version: 2.0.13

Nickel and dimes usersA change in the subscription model with radically tightened limits on how much people can use the software have forced me to increase the price I’m paying from $18 to about $40 Canadian, and I somehow still have tighter usage limits than I did a few months ago. Had no choice but to upgrade for this month, but after that, I’m done with Otter. I’ve been a paying subscriber for three years and you’re not getting another penny from me. Nice work..Version: 3.16.0

Glitches are annoyingHave the premium subscription but it’s very glitchy.Version: 3.41.230115

Needs more workNeeds more work on accents and language variations outside of US English.Version: 2.1.53

Great for Casual UsersUsing Ottter’s free service was good for my needs as within the limited number of mins/mo. Graduating to the premium service and using it on a daily basis, Otter has been woefully inadequate. Errors are more tolerable and manageable if you’re working through a few hours of transcription, but moving that up to 10+ hrs/week, there is too much for me to review and edit, much less organize. Also, the summary feature isn’t helpful for my needs—it’s simply a list of key words that were captured in the recording. If you want anything resembling an actual summary or summarized points, you’ll have to do that manually. I would gladly pay $50 - $100+/mo for accuracy above 95% (ideally above 99%) and summarized points, or key take always, action items, etc. Otter’s accuracy is probably closer to 80-85%. Again, that was for me when I used it 2-3 hrs/wk. If settings can be optimized or I’m missing something, I’m willing to give Otter another chance. Otherwise, I’ll move to a service with higher accuracy and actual summary features. In short, Otter is probably the best option available for casual use. Power users will likely need to look elsewhere..Version: 3.9.0

Illegal privacy issues.Otter.ai will enter any zoom meeting on your calendar without you being in attendance on the meeting. Other people in the zoom room have no clue that the meeting is being recorded/transcribed. Even after completely deleting this app from my phone, it was still recording my zoom meetings..Version: 3.17.0

Total Rip-off and non-existing customer serviceI have ONE file I need to get a transcript for. I’m told I have to subscribe so I pay the $16 subscription. Now I’m told my $16 only get me 90mins. I need to pay a further $14 to get the rest of my ONE document. Oh, and by the way, my husband almost got fired when he used Otter previously because it records meetings and sends recordings to everyone on your meeting list indiscriminately. One person said during the meeting that she didn’t want it recorded. Too bad, there’s no way of stopping Otter from recording and sending her and everyone else the recording. You don’t even know who it sends it to. I wrote to customer service and am still waiting to hear back weeks later. Nobody cares apparently. I hope someone quickly comes up with a competitor so I can forget what a bad experience I’m getting with Otter..Version: 3.13.0

Paid for pro… but can’t access itI paid for the pro plan but for some reason I can only access the basic plan. I’ve sent many messages to Otter support but no one has contacted me to sort this out. Very frustrating.Version: 3.19.0

Terrible. Difficult to get ris offDidn’t do what they say they where going to do. Only requested for updates and more money..Version: 3.13.0

Quality of interface has gone DOWNOtter has always been a godsend for me and it is still the most accurate automated transcription service I’ve been able to find, which is why I spend $12 a month on it, which is more than I spend on most streaming services. But lately the interface has been unfreaking usable and it is making me rethink, or at least resent, my investment. Everytime I highlight a sentence, it jumps me down to the bottom of the page and I have to scroll back up to find where I was. It does this EVERY TIME. It’s also gotten so slow in terms of the audio playback working and scrolling down and up the page. And it forces me to refresh and find my place in the transcript every couple of minutes. It’s gone from saving me time to almost costing me time. There’s no survey I can take so I am writing this here in hopes that someone at Otter sees it. Please work out your bugs !!!!!.Version: 3.2.0

Absolutely no support for this app!I’ve been using & paid for Otter Pro for the past year, now I renewed it but the app tells me I have to upgrade & PAY for Otter Pro after I’ve paid for a full year of continuous subscription! I contacted support by email (that was the only option they provide) over 2 days ago & I’m still waiting to get this resolved. Awful customer service, especially once they have your $$!.Version: 3.12.0

Not greatThe transcription is terrible. Too many errors in capturing the correct words and when there is a conversation the words run into another persons words. Then there is the outrageous price. Definitely looking elsewhere. Sorry Otter…still ways to go with your app..Version: 3.33.230905

CAD$44.99/ month? No thank youThe app is great, but I had to cancel the subscription. Sorry, but I won’t pay CAD $44.99 a month, this is absolutely ridiculous. Thank you..Version: 2.1.20

Has gone dramatically downhill recentlyMy university accessibility department recommended otter to transcribe my lecture and tutorial recordings. It was fine until recently, and I don’t know if it’s due to a recent update, or coincidental timing with my purchase of an annual subscription - but suddenly there are significant gaps in my transcriptions, processing lags and glitches causing the app or webpage to crash mid-transcription. I’ve tried troubleshooting the audio quality side of it, connecting an Ethernet cable to my laptop, swapping over to the app etc - the only logical conclusion is that the problem is with otter. Incredibly disappointed considering how much money I paid and how well it previously performed..Version: 3.4.0

⚠️ They Track YouThey track you across apps and the web. Do you really trust a company that does that? See the App Privacy section of their App Store page for details..Version: 3.18.0

Poor quality, surprised at the strong reviewsI have the free version, but I believe that the paid version is the same with the exception of many features. The main job that this app is set to do is transcription, it is pretty bad at that, I typically have to spend anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour fixing up transcripts that are only 10 to 20 minutes long in audio. Honestly, I’m stunned. It’s better than doing it yourself, the transcription that is, but the transcription I’m using right now via Apple it’s not making any mistakes. I’m dictating this review, with no editing, as I speak. I would not recommend this app, although it’s what I’ve been using. If you can afford or find a better one, I don’t know I think they say this is the best on the market, it just shows how little we can do so far in 2022. It really is pretty bad, and the edit feature is unwieldy as well. I hope Apple buys this and makes it more user-friendly and frankly a much better tool..Version: 3.6.0

It has a hard time recognizing words. No tagging systemSiri is more accurate when it comes to recognizing speech and translating it to text. It’s also difficult to organize conversations because they don’t have a tagging system, and I can’t track the number of conversations with a specific tag either..Version: 3.14.0

FrustratingFree app claims I get 6’hours per month (don’t have that info on hand figure not accurate) I used up the free app offer in under an hour before discovering what the full version cost this cost should not be hidden. Also I can not discover how to continue that document or how to save it to a folder. So now I have paid over a hundred dollars ( annual fee is far cheaper) for an app that Is not as good as I had hoped. Please fix these issues and offer a better free version so costumers can know what they are buying. Or offer a monthly back guarantee that would be reasonable and fairer. Thank you Oh and stop asking me to rate your app just cos everyone else is doing it doesn’t mean you have to. I have this has been helpful.Version: 2.1.62

Recent update is disappointingFor the last two years, it works brilliantly that I can access to full screen live transcribe but since the update, this feature have come to an end. Sadly, this app is the best for accuracy and speed. I don’t want to lose out. I am hoping that the full screen function will return quickly..Version: 3.0.1

Great transcription, shame about the shifting prioritiesSuperb transcription, for which I use this tool exclusively. However, just received an email saying that my monthly subscription price would go up £4 while my minutes/imports would reduce. This is in aid of introducing a raft of “assistant” tools that are targeted at people who only use Otter for meetings. Ho hum. Time to find another transcription tool..Version: 3.7.0

App Experience and Web Version QuirksI’ve been using the app for a while now, and one notable issue is the lack of visibility for the free plan details within the app. The 300 minutes of free recording hasn’t updated since December 23. However, when I log in on the web page, it seems to display the information correctly; although, I haven’t had the time to confirm whether the 300 free minutes are updated monthly. Another concern I’ve encountered is the low volume when using the web page version, making it challenging to listen to my recordings. Fortunately, this volume problem doesn’t occur when using the app..Version: 3.41.230115

Cannot confirm my emailI tried to sign up with my gmail, but Otter was accessing my Calendar which was not okay. So I signed up with an email. I click on the confirmation button in my email, the browser opens up that I’m not logged in. I try to login but it says my username and password is wrong, probably because it is not yet activated. So I’m in a loop. I tried to find support but ended up with a FAQ section on the website and couldn’t find a way to contact. Either there is none, or they hide it to make it hard to find..Version: 3.9.0

DisappointedThere are not too many good dictation apps for iOS. I liked this app, however, the voice dictation was very poor. I wanted it to be so much better, but having dictated several pages, the re-editing took so long; it would have been easier to type it out myself. The program doesn’t appear to learn nuances of an accent. I’m English, yet the way the app responded - it translated my words into unintelligible globs of sentences. A cheaper monthly fee would be more helpful..Version: 3.24.0

Moving the wrong directionI’ve used this app for several years. Even though I’m a light user I paid for the pro. I started using the app to transcribe some meetings recently and saw that my legacy account was converting to a pro at double the price. I figured no big deal until I saw the complete robbery of my minutes. 6000 to 1200 or whatever is absurd. The say it’s because of their innovation and their new services they’ve added to the pro. I won’t use those services nor would I meet with anyone who tried to surreptitiously record a meeting. My company uses TEAMS which already comes with transcription and it’s better than Otter so why would I go for this change. I’ll be cancelling my subscription tonight. I wish them luck with their business model. They’ll learn soon enough not to mess over the early adopters and users who don’t need more digital assistants to perform redundant services..Version: 3.15.0

Very unhappyThis review is based on the recent plan changes. First, I use Otter to record a few quick (1-5 minutes) tracking notes each week. I was and continue to be impressed with the app on a technical level. The dictation accuracy is impressive and having the recording to back up any area that was captured inaccurately solves most of my issues. That said, actually correcting the text is not easy or particularly intuitive. Second, While I understand the company needs and has every right to make money, my decision to use the app was based on the understanding beyond the basics of free minutes, I would have access to the totality of my notes as needed for reference. Now that I am suddenly only allowed to see the last 25 of my notes without deleting or upgrading, I feel the company is holding my notes, made previous to the changes, for ransom. I believe any notes made previous to the tier changes should be grandfathered in and fully accessible without limitation. Access going forward can be limited to 25. If that is unacceptable I believe the company should provide a simple and free way to export those notes made previous to the tier changes. Lastly, I would have preferred to discuss this issue one on one and I am upset at the dearth of support response. I contacted you guys in September and still have not received anything beyond the auto reply. To be behind is one thing, to have no response 20 days later is a real problem!.Version: 3.12.0

Great app, but annoying bugs :(I’ve recently started using this app for conducting interviews at my school, since I’m apart of the newspaper club, and It’s super convenient! However, theres been some weird glitches and bugs that have been making the app hard to use. First, whenever I highlight text in the transcript, I can’t un-highlight it and it gets pretty annoying. It also never highlights what I want, and always messes up my text. Another thing is that when you sort a recording into a folder, you can’t take it out, and your left very unorganized. It would be great if you could look into these bugs and fix them, since I look forward to using this app more in the future! I also suggest that you add some more organizing features like being able to underline text, different highlight colors, a way to trim audio-recordings, and more. Thank you so much for taking the time to read through my review, and I hope you can consider these suggestions and fix the bugs :).Version: 2.1.56
