Gone downhillIve used this app many times and dont usually mind the wait as it is a convenience. The estimated times in the past few months have not been anywhere near accurate. Today I placed an order which was delayed for the robot to turn up, not be able to unlock so had to contact support. When i did and then they got the robot open for me it was completely empty. Been told to wait 2-5 days for a refund as only option and no option to resend order with products i purchased. Gave me the prompt i need to uninstall which is unfortunate because i really did enjoy the convenience..Version: 2.24.5

Great robot, terrible serviceThe idea is amazing. The robots are fun and definitely the best part of the experience. However, most of the Robot Technicians who actually make the food don’t care about quality since there is no way to leave a comment on the food itself, only the delivery. I got a pizza that was almost raw. Starship is great, but they have to institute some form of quality control where individual Technicians can be reviewed..Version: 2.14.7

Seriously whats the point in it?Spend ages picking overpriced products because Im isolating only to find as usual am unable to get delivery. So why oh why does the app advertise they deliver to my address. Ive never seen a robot on my road and even though we minutes from local shop or 2 miles from city centre, the company treats my road like its in another country & doesn’t cater for it. So please remove us from the app rather than waste time ordering only to be refused at checkout. Incredibly frustrating..Version: 2.3.1

No refund !I ordered tobacco, the app said I had previously uploaded my ID, and to go to the robot and it would take a selfie and then it would open up, I went downstairs and did this and the robot did not open. I contacted customer support and was told I had to download an app called zoom and provide my id again. I did not want to download this zoom app and I was told that if I didn’t I would still be charged for the tobacco even though I couldn’t collect it. Lesson learned, money lost, app deleted. Good ideaThis would be a good system but has a couple of flaws. Nearly every time there is something not in stock that I ordered but you only find out about this after the order has been confirmed and fulfilled. There should only be things shown on the app that are in stock or there should be an option within the app for the store to send the order only if all the items are in stock. It’s a complete waste of time in its current form.Version: 2.1.83

Inexcusably slowThis service works to the standard it should work once in every ten orders, and those few times are what has led me to believe that the service may become more consistent, and at that point truly satisfactory. However, it is truly ridiculous as your order can be loaded into the robot and then not leave for your destination for up to two hours, leading to what should have been a convenient pickup now causing you to miss the important thing that caused you not to be able to leave in the first place. Furthermore, customer support is absolutely useless as they only go so far as to confirm your order arrived and will not address anything beyond that. If you are building an app around a service, that service should at the very least be performed properly and consistently. However, in the case of starship, it most certainly is not..Version: 2.25.8

Terrible service and terrible customer serviceThe robots got stuck everywhere they go. It takes forever and the app is not able to give you any sort of accurate time on when your food will be delivered. I had to cancel my order the other day after waiting nearly an hour (despite the original delivery time saying 20 min) and the app constantly stating my order was only 2 minutes away. Customer service is even worse than the actual robot service. This business will fail dramatically..Version: 1.6.91

MediocreI appreciate the convenience of the robot, but the inventory is lacking. The robot delivers from the same local store that I shop at, but there are not nearly the same options from the app as I would find in the store. It’s also difficult to search for items you need - especially when the app has them spelled incorrectly. The app is not user friendly. You can add items to your cart at any time, but if the store is closed - you can’t see what you’ve put in the cart or make any changes to it until “open hours”. Also, I understand supplies are low, but sometimes I feel that the shopper in the store is just too lazy to look for an item and therefore I receive a message that there is “no item”. And then I have no option to choose a different item - just a message telling me I’ll be refunded in a few days..Version: 2.6.10

Has Only Worked Once!I had a great experience ONE TIME. I ordered my food, it came, loved it. Tried the next time and it said “will be back shortly” for every single vendor, stating that they were all have excessive wait times. I tried EVERY DAY for a month and STILL the same message. It got to the point where I tried it IN LINE at one of the “busy” vendors when the like was EMPTY and it still said the same message. I have contacted the service and no one even attempted to help me besides “delete the app and try again”, which I have done at least 6 times now to no avail. I really wish I could utilize this device but at this point, I had to rate it a one star..Version: 2.14.9

DisappointedI’m getting really tired of ordering food, then getting a notification that one or all of the items are out of stock with no option to substitute new items. Today I tried ordering lunch and all the food items I requested were out of stock and the robot was sent out with a single drink before I could cancel. Now I have to wait until the delivery ends to order again and hope I pick something that’s in stock (plus pay another delivery fee) or go somewhere myself which defeats the purpose of the robots. Great Concept, Trash AppThis has to be one of the worst apps I have ever had the misfortune of using. Once you set your delivery address at the very start, you better hope that you don’t ever accidentally change it because it is borderline impossible to change the address in this worthless, half-baked app. You can literally go in, search for a delivery area, hit confirm, have it tell you it confirmed the delivery point, back out and voila, it hasn’t change the address at all. The app is so ridiculously unresponsive using it is akin to pulling teeth..Version: 2.1.53

ExpensiveLoved this when it first came around our way the delivery was 99p Now it’s gone up to £1.99 delivery with £1.99 service fee… that’s £4 to deliver a small amount of food. Save yourself money and go with Sainsburys get a saver slot £1 or £2 (same time delivery as starship within 4 hours) and order as much as you like!.Version: 2.16.4

This app needs some workThis app is okay if you don’t have high expectations and you don’t feel like walking to get food, but I will say that 1 item in my meal is ALWAYS messed up. The app does not refresh to tell you what the place you’re ordering from does and doesn’t have so you’re left guessing what you’re going to get when the robot shows up at your door or when you go to pick up your food. It is very frustrating and annoying to want one thing and one thing only, but to have that item be replaced with something else without your knowledge..Version: 2.1.21

Works sometimesWhen the food is actually sent out, its wonderful. However, their estimation times have been continuously delayed and not even close to accurate repeatedly. When I order say a burger, I’m told 30-45 minutes. That’s fine by me, but then at around the 35 minute mark, my then 10 minutes left order jumps to 20. It then repeats thin for another 40 minutes. I’ve ordered it as pickup from places a few times and this is the consistent experience, rush or no. They prioritize you back of the line, always. Its a bit infuriating when you order ahead of time, but your friends who ordered 15 minutes later in person get their food a whole 30 minutes before you..Version: 2.1.100

First experience (Real Bad)This is my first experience with starship. And I can tell you it was a bad experience. I ordered two meals for Panda Express at UNC Charlotte, my two meals were supposed to come with two medium Sierra Mist. The food arrived with one medium orange soda, and a small Pepsi. I contacted their customer support and they told me that I only ordered one Sierra Mist and a Pepsi. And for some reason my receipt magically changed to one Pepsi and one Sierra Mist. And even with that I still never received an order for the Sierra Mist and coke. Finally, the customer support person was not helpful at all..Version: 2.17.20

ScamThis app has scammed me out of so much money, I’m done giving it a chance. Every order I’ve ever placed either for pickup or delivery has been missing add ons I paid for or the wrong item entirely and they always refuse to rectify the situation. They won’t refund, store credit, or replace anything even though customer support verifies through photos and contacting the restaurant there were mistakes. One worker even accused me of not knowing the difference between a turkey sub and an oven roasted chicken sub. Over the past year I’ve revisited the app when they do promotions hoping they’ve gotten better but they’re still rude, unprofessional, take forever, and a waste of money..Version: 2.16.4

Lack of communicationMultiple times I have ordered small things 2 hours or more before closing and they end up cancelling at the last minute before close and all you can do is wait and they say their doing it or sorry for the inconvenience but nothing else, very disappointed.Version: 2.26.2

Time stamps heavily subject to change last minuteLove these little guys, super cute, but in the app, I’ve ordered twice and both orders were delayed. I believe this is mostly due to how busy the Im at University is, but I hope as they grow their statistical data that the given time stamps before ordering can be more accurate in the future, and there will no longer be ~30 minutes or more of unexpected delay time. However, customer support is excellent, as you can talk to an in-person representative and be compensated if an order is wrong or missing items. I look forward to being able to utilize these delivery robots in the future with less problems!.Version: 2.11.4

Problematic pricing and non existent selectionsSo I’ve used starship (uk) for a while and recently noticed the vendors listed dropping off and those that are on the service the selection of items dropping massively almost nothing is available anymore, and the prices on the app are starting to get silly , it’s far cheaper and easier now to grab a Deliveroo once you get beyond the novelty of the robots there’s little to recommend the service anymore.Version: 2.20.4

App is dysfunctionalHad to redownload the app in order to use meal transfers and now it’s completely broken and I’ve tried to redownload it 3 times to no avail. When it DOES “work” and you are using a dual meal plan through a university, it will often lock you and force you to use one or the other and you’ll have to delete it and redownload it if you want to use the one you want. The app will often also lock me out while I’m ordering so I don’t know if my money gets taken or not. Save the trouble and order in person..Version: 2.17.9

Nonexistent serviceAfter regularly using their services, they have decided to reduce their delivery area, and where once there were multiple shops I bought from, now there are NONE! Not one food store is now available. It’s gone from a useful good service to being completely unusable. I spoke to customer service and they genuinely did not care. Simply put, they are no longer interested in me, and many others who are undoubtedly in the same position, as customers anymore. It’s good, but need a lot of work.I really like using this app, but it has a lot of problems that make it hard to use. One problem is that whenever I try to order using this app, the app says everything is out of stock (when it’s not true). I go to BGSU and I’ll try to order from Einstein Bagels but it will say every single one of their bagels are out of stock 😑.Version: 2.3.1

Loading GlitchThe service is fine but I’m always asked to log in with my institution, which is normal, but every time I do I’m met with an unending loading screen. I have yet to find a fix for this bug short of deleting the app and downloading again and even that doesn’t always work, leaving it impossible to place an order for the time being..Version: 2.1.17

Amazing but the app needs workOn iOS the buttons are positioned in such a way that makes navigation difficult. Also, I’ve had a lot of problems getting my payment accepted. You can’t edit an existing card if it expires and sometimes I’ll have the payment rejected multiple times before it suddenly works. If you have a food allergy, maybe don’t use thisThe robots are cute and I like that they can do food delivery, but I’m pretty allergic to peanuts, to where I could be hospitalized if I even ingest a small amount, and there is no option to mention that allergy. If an update adds that option in, I’ll change my review but it’s not a good app for those who have food allergies, which you’d think would be one of the things addressed when first designing it.Version: 2.11.7

Great until your order gets messed upI’m not one to usually resort to delivery services, but whenever I’m sick or incredibly busy I turn to starship. Usually, everything goes fine. Not perfect, but suitable. But yesterday, after dealing with a sinus infection for the past couple days, I decided to order from the robot to dodge getting anyone else sick. I got Chick-Fil-A. When it arrived, the lemonade had spilled all over the robot and food so it was basically inedible. With this issue, I contacted customer service with photo proof, but the best they could offer is $5 off my next order. I COULDNT EVEN EAT MY FOOD. The five dollars was barely 1/3 of what I paid for the meal. Unfortunately, I know I will have to use starship again in the future. I just hope they improve their performance by next semester when it comes to customer service..Version: 2.17.19

Ignorant Customer SupportI’m a college student and used Starship flawlessly for the first few months of school. Once I got a new phone, I wasn’t able to order anymore because the app was unable to verify my phone number. My new phone is a valid US number and functions flawlessly as a smartphone. I originally contacted support in January about my issue. I was assured that this issue to be fixed and to look out for an email. I never received one and contacted support again about 2 weeks later. This time I assured AGAIN by a different agent that the issue would be resolved. I was also told that this time, I should receive a response in no more than week. It has been a week now with still no response. I contacted support yet another time and was told, ONCE AGAIN, that I should receive an email with a resolution(No Surprise At All). I hope I’m not the only one noticing this pattern of incompetent customer support agents and a neglectful corporation..Version: 2.26.2

Love - Hate RelationshipSo, first off, this is a very interesting, cost effective way to grab a few things you need last minute, without having to go out to the grocery store! That’s the “love” part. Now for the “hate” part. You select all of the items that you really need, and they charge you for ALL of those items, and let you know the progress. Still great! THEN, inevitably, they send you a message 20 minutes later saying that they do not have either ALL, or part of your order. UGH! In this day and age, I get that, but you would think that there would be a way for the app to sync up with the inventory. Especially since they charge you up front, then take 3-5 days to adjust the order amount. Not to mention the disappointment of having to go get the items you needed anyway. So what was the point? If you don’t have what I need, understandable, just don’t allow me to order it and don’t charge me for it. So all in all, IF, you can get what you actually ordered, it’s awesome!.Version: 2.4.11

Awful UI and buggyI wanted to change my location today, and not only can I not do that, but the app became unresponsive. After many times of clearing the app out and trying again, I just decided to delete it and reinstall it. Now, I cannot enter a location and it keeps freezing on me. So glad that they have tech support to help you with this problem (they don’t). Add in many other issues I’ve had with this and I’m just sick of this company in general. Great delivery service but the app is hit or missI love the Starship delivery service, the robot is fast and convenient to get my food from. But the app itself seems to be less than functional. I’ve ordered from the app about 10 times and 9 times out of 10 I’ve had issues with not being able to place my order because of “connection issues to the service” that have me sitting on the checkout screen for at least 20 minutes, while I sit attempting to “snipe” the order button during brief instances of regained connection. Within that time I could simply walk to the place I’m ordering my food from. My WiFi connection isn’t the problem because every time I have this issue I have full bars and every other app I use functions without such issues. If this issue wasn’t so prominent I would give this app 5 stars, but as it stands it’s a 2 for me..Version: 2.1.19

Not that goodIm a college student with a meal plan. Every few days for some reason starship forgets my information?? But it blocks off the choice for me to use my meal plan. Do Not UseIt took 4 hours, 4 HOURS, to have my order delivered from the store a mile and a half away. We wanted to try this service out as we saw all the robots on the streets, but we will NEVER use this again. Two items were “substitutes” which I have a hard time believing they were out of my original order. And, yes, I still paid full price for the “substitutes”. The store said they were having “techinal difficulties” which apparently is why it said 90 minutes to deliver when I placed my oder, an hour later it said 59 minutes, than an hour later it said 61 minutes to deliver. This service is NOT worth the increased price on all items and if you get the substitutes, you are still charged the higher price..Version: 2.1.35

Orders keep getting lost :(Used to work great, ever since this school year started I've had at least 3-4 times where my order would get stuck at 0 minutes, I'd wait for over an hour just in case the restaurant was running behind, and it turns out when I ask that my order never reached the restaurant at all. Have yet to have a correct order arriveI’m patient with new services. And technology. Allowing for kinks to be worked out. 100% of my orders have been charged, but either wrong sizes of items were sent or items were omitted. The order receipt and the to go print out would have conflicting information. Fortunately, the resolves the first issue which incentivized me to try them again. But after the second issue, one ticket showing I paid for a drink and the other saying not to add a drink to the robot, seems just careless. I don’t need a third time to know that I’d have better luck walking across campus to get my food done correctly..Version: 2.6.12

NAU Starship - You would think that they wouldn’t lose your food after losing it twice beforeNAU starship has messed up my order three times this semester. Then they just want to offer you a refund instead of just reordering the food for you. This last messed up order it took 20 minutes just for them to give me a refund and then the place where they messed up my food closed their delivery option and on hop of that it took over an hour to get the wrong order. Making it an inconvenience for me who works on the other side of campus trying to get food before my shift. Don’t waste your time and money!.Version: 2.1.108
