Flower for Negative User Reviews

I’m still feeling dizzySo far, I’ve played Sky and Journey on IOS. Sky was a joy and helped me through the worst of lockdown. Journey was an incredible experience. This just made me dizzy. Although I’ve experienced issues with the controls in the above mentioned games. Neither of them were anywhere near as frustrating as Flower. The tilt screen defeats the point of the beautiful visuals, which you can’t even see properly when you’re tilting your screen at an absurd angle in order to dive bomb petals. And I’m still feeling car sick, even as I write this. Give this game a miss..Version: 1.3.0

I like it I guessThis game so relaxing and fun but the calibration kept stuffing up and there’s nothing wrong with my iPad just I have to play it upside down pretty much.Version: 1.0.1

Beautiful and calming but the steering is so frustratingThis game is right up my alley so I was really wanting to love it, but geez, the steering is so touchy and difficult that I ironically ended up feeling MORE stressed after playing. You fly around all out of control unable to go where you want, kind of like those dreams you have where you can’t quite reach the pedals in the car, haha. Anyway that sort of wrecked it for me. Never got past the first level..Version: 1.2.1

Great game but there’s a game breaking bugThe game is great except when it flashes glitching colours over my iPhone x screen when the game gets to fast or something, these flashing bright colours are dangerous and should be fixed immediately.Version: 1.1

Beautiful but very flawedA beautiful and relaxing little game. Honestly it’s incredibly pretty but sadly it has two major drawbacks. Firstly it’s a huge battery drain. It knocked 40% off my battery in less than 25 mins, which I understand is the pay off for the beautiful graphics and complex physics in operation in the game; so that’s forgivable. The second major drawback is somewhat unforgivable though and why I’ve dropped 3 stars from my review. The controls. I’ve played a lot of tilt controlled games and this by far is one of the worst. Which is a shame as the game should really shine in this field as it seems almost designed for tilt control. Left/right functions are airy and not incredibly responsive but manageable... however when you reach altitude control of up/down... it’s an utter nightmare. The petals seems to always want to tend upwards into the sky and the only way to rest the downward motion is to tilt upwards first and then nose dive down. As flowers by in large are connected to the ground... floating about miles above them in the sky is somewhat problematic as it means you can’t progress. The constant resetting of altitude breaks the slow and idyllic immersion of the game not to mention that quite often the petals will simply refuse to go down. No matter how you move your phone. Instead they’ll just go ever upwards until eventually you can get it to go back. In my opinion the poor controls are actually game breaking and they need to either update the up/down control so tilt works as it should for them... or give an option to use a slider for up and down. Otherwise the game is beautiful, peaceful and unique and I would have recommended it’s purchase as I was a giant fan of the game on the PlayStation... however as it stands I would have to say it simply isn’t worth the hefty price tag for a several years old game, badly ported to the mobile platform..Version: 1.2

Pause = restart , battery drainingThis is a great game I’ve played on the PS3 before and it was fantastic feels the same however it would be much appreciated if the game was easier to pause. It’s too easy to tilt your phone over to the flower pot/start menu and “hold to resume” just to have it start over. I keep accidentally restarted the level and this happened like five times. Also the app drains the battery really quickly too. While charging I couldn’t go over 20%. Moreover, when it comes to steering in the game, it becomes difficult and a little stressful when “gusts of wind” take over the controls. Nothing is peaceful about your controls being taken over. If there was an option for a little transparent arrow pad to the left or right and the same controls, it would probably use less battery and would still be peaceful to play instead of waving a phone around. Music and sound team did a great job.Version: 1.0.1

Awesome but could use workThe sound is amazing and the music is really calming. I love how delicate everything looks. The downside is the tilting controls are very sensitive and can be hard to control and the petals often go up instead of straight when the phone is level. Also it would be much easier to play the game if every time you exited it wouldn’t re start the ‘level’. When you get a notification and check it and try to go back you have to go from the very start all over again. I like this game but at the price it is I don’t think it’s worth it..Version: 1.2.1

Battery drainer!!!This game takes a lot of my battery. I play this for half an hour and my phone goes from 80% to 20%. However, this game is beautiful and perfect if you want to relax your mind for example for sleep or if you are angry, etc. Having said that, the tilting control is quite difficult to manoeuvre and most of the time you have to be patient with the phone to control again. There should be buttons as another option to control in this game. It is also quite hard to understand if you have just installed it. There needs to be more instructions and guidance on what you have to do, because it is difficult to fet your head around it. I find this game beautifully illustrated however to be honest I would not pay the full price for this. I would pay £0.99 at the maximum. This is because it is very laggy as well and you need to wait a couple of minutes for it to start working again. It also drains my battery big time which I don’t like, therefore uninstalled the app. With some improvements and updates made to this game, I think this could be very successful and popular in the game charts. It needs a lot of work in my opinion..Version: 1.1

I can’t review this right nowI can’t review this game right now because when I play the first 30 seconds it crashes. It’s got gorgeous graphics and I wish I could. The second I reach the first red plant I reach a game breaking bug. Iphone 7+.Version: 1.0

Lovely looking, but bad controls and serious battery drainThis is a very beautiful looking game and the music is very charming, too. However, the controls are just awful. You are basically tilting your device to target flowers in the grass. Now, this would be ok if the controls only affected horizontal movement, but unfortunately they don’t. Every time you raise your device towards you in what I would call a natural viewing position the petals you control move up. As your targets are invariably low on the ground that makes game play very awkward. You basically have to hold your device completely flat or even tilt it downward slightly away from you. Not a very enjoyable or comfortable position. On top of this the game drains your battery like nobody’s business. It’s a shame, as the idea of the game is lovely, but the controls really spoil it for me..Version: 1.1

Amazing game - Really bad controlsIt feels like they didn’t even try the game before submitting it. You've got so many negative comments because of that. Please try and add a secondary control scheme because the game deserves something better.Version: 1.1

👎 NopeTakes about as long to start as my Vauxhall Viva on a frosty morning. The graphics are lush, but I found the gameplay nebulous and unrewarding. After the fourth time of watching the boot screens drag past I gave up caring and reached for the weedkiller..Version: 1.0

RelaxingBut why can't I start where I left off? Why do I have to start at the beginning every time? And no settings to control sound, etc..Version: 1.0

So disappointedI loved this on Playstation but it is SO hard to manoeuvre the petals. Have given up in frustration..Version: 1.0

Update from 1 star to 3Okay I am starting to finally get the hang of the game. I am on the 2nd part of the game just got the first part completed. Still kind of confusing. Hard to move in the game. Beautiful graphics and music. I still think this game is over priced. Very relaxing now that I am finally getting the hang of it. I wish that you could save it sooner though. I have to use both hands to control it my left thumb I had to have surgery on so it makes it kind of hard. I will update when I get further in the game..Version: 1.2.1

What's the point?I'm seriously annoyed at having just spent nearly £5 for this. What a waste of money! Don't be fooled by the hype, this is a serious waste of your money. I'm just frustrated at having being taken in by the hype surrounding this. It is utterly pointless. Please, don't even think about buying this. I will be taking to Appke about having this removed from the store. An eloquent rip-off..Version: 1.0

Save your moneyStupid game. No objective. No beginning middle or end. Controls are hard. Wish I could get my money back..Version: 1.0

Hard to control, won’t saveI really, really wanted to love this game. Every now and then I find myself wanting a new relaxing game, and I really debated on this one because of the cost. I decided to go for it, and...ugh. I’m playing on my iPad Pro, and I will say that the graphics are beautiful. The controls, however, are REALLY hard to master. What makes it even worse is THE GAME DOESN’T SAVE. When I exit the game and come back to it later, I have to start from the very beginning again. I don’t want to keep playing the same 15 minutes of the game over and over. I was hoping this would be a relaxing game that would give me a little mental break from my day, but it’s just another frustration. Deleted. Adios, $4.99..Version: 1.2.3

Okay...This game just wasn’t that great + the controls really need some work. Sometimes the movements were hard to control and you just stop all of a sudden? The gameplay does get repetitive after a while. Though the scenery was great, I just didn’t see anything that stood out more in this game..Version: 1.2

I used to love this game on PSI first played this game on PS years ago and it always stuck with me as a beautiful, engaging and calming game that I really loved and enjoyed. Unfortunately trying it on both my iPad and my phone were maddening. The controls are nowhere near as easy to use nor intuitive compared to playing it on PS. I was really looking forward to enjoying this game again. Hope to see it improve!.Version: 1.3.0

Unwieldy, even with ControllerA lovely-looking and –sounding game, marred by frequent ‘on-rails’ gameplay and unintuitive controls. The iOS conversion finally adds back the missing controller support. Yet the ‘on-rails’ game design means we STILL end up feeling frustrated, constantly fighting the camera. Not recommended for those without a physical controller, due to the inconsistent motion “controls” (or uncomfortable on-screen buttons)—both of which intensify the feeling that the game is actively fighting against the player..Version: 1.3.0

Extremely high stress pointless game! Do not waste your money or time.I was attempting to find a game to play for a few minutes and then be able to set it down and do other things. It appeared that the game Flower might be such a game. It looks kind of pretty. However I get a headache and find myself getting very angry each time I try to play Flower. #1 There aren’t any good directions or goals I can find. #2 My iPhone doesn’t seem to be controllable in terms of moving ahead easily, or going from side to side. #3 I have been dupped into spending money for a completely worthless and high stress and headache producing “game”. Definitely not recommended!!!!.Version: 1.3.0

No save function so gave up...I progress so far but if I come back to it, I can't save! What's the point?.Version: 1.0

FlowerBeen trying to move around for an hour. Just when I think I have discovered the controls it does its own thing by moving back or goes out of focus or a sudden hard turn. This is not the relaxing, calming experience I was hoping for. Also, no clues on how to get to other scenes. Briefly saw a city scape but suddenly disappeared. Where are those others shown in app preview, or do I have to collect every darn petal in the current scene? I am not relaxed I am stressed I am switching this thing off!.Version: 1.2.1

Beautiful but frustratingAfter falling in love with Donut County and Sky: Children of the Light, I decided to check out some of the other games from the same developers. And Flower immediately caught my eye. I struggle with anxiety, so I bought this game thinking it would be a peaceful, stress relieving game that I can play to calm myself down. And, of course, when I opened the game I wasn’t disappointed by the beautiful music and graphics. However, the controls were almost unforgivably frustrating. It took me 45 minutes to complete the first level, and it just left me feeling even more stressed out. If there was some way that players could drag on the screen to fly around instead of tilting the device, it would make the gameplay a lot easier and more enjoyable. I want to give this game 5 stars, I really do. But until the controls are less frustrating, I can’t really enjoy Flower..Version: 1.3.0

Nice....but what’s the point?I regret paying for this. It looks lovely, but it’s not an open ended world. Travel too far and you reach a Truman Show type block which turns you around. But the key elements to a good game are: Presentation - yes, this has it in abundance. Controls - quite intuitive, taking advantage of the iPhone’s capabilities. Challenge - sadly lacking. Surely there has to be an objective? Achievements? A challenge? It’s great to say that this can appeal to the non-gamer to be able to pick up, but what about the casual gamers who know the difference between winning and losing? The game cost the equivalent of 2 skinny lattes, approximately. It’s lasted the equivalent of a couple of sips, and now I’ve realised that although they look very inviting, they’re cold. I think I’ll leave this particular coffee shop and go and find myself somewhere that serves coffee which doesn’t just look good, but is hot as well..Version: 1.0

Beautiful game but disappointed iPad user.Disappointed I thought this was a meditative game like it is on the console but nope you’ve got to use your arms to tilt this around. Possibly interesting on a iphone but a ridiculous notion for iPad users. I guess they recently updated with touch controls but the touch controls are almost non-functioning. So if you were looking for the same, save your money, hopefully they’ll improve. It’s such a shame I love this game so much. Where do I contact someone to get my money back as I won’t be able to use it the way it works now..Version: 1.2.1

Controls are not funWonderful graphics ... relaxing music ... creative concept ... a quick casual play. Sounds like my game. But the controls are just not working for me ... gave up after 20 min ... I just cant control it with tilting. Should have test played somewhere first. And I really wanted to love the game..Version: 1.0

Don’t know what the fuss is aboutI don’t really know what the fuss is about, the controls are hard to use after the first 5 minutes of the game and then the wind kept spinning me in circles and I just felt motion sick. Other than that, the graphics were average because you can’t stop long enough to enjoy anything. Disappointed..Version: 1.1

GlitchyThere is a glitch for me when I tilt the iPad the game flashes random colours pls fix.Version: 1.1

Unauthorised debitDownloaded the free app. Some days later while on holiday was charged £4.99. Deleted app.Version: 1.2.1

Motion sicknessWow this games makes me want to vomit from motion sickness what ever mode I play it in. A real shame because I loved this on the PS3..Version: 1.2.2

Latest update ruined graphics on iPhone X...Flower has always been a beautiful game, and it surprised me how close to the PS4 version the iPhone X version looked, it was the game I’d show off to my friends to show how graphically capable the iPhone X was. This latest update however has got rid of the fancy super sharp graphics, and now it looks more like a last generation phone game than a next generation console game. The resolution has taken a huge hit and things in the distance are noticeably less sharp. I understand this is to help improve performance but is there any chance of adding a graphics option in the menu? Some people like the super sharp high res graphics, even if it does slowly kill their device..Version: 1.2

DO NOT UPDATENew update completely reset my progress and lowered the graphic quality on my iPad Air 2. The game looked and played well before the update..Version: 1.2

Too shortThe visuals on this are wonderful and it really is a calming game. However, I completed it in less than 90 minutes and their are not enough levels. 4.99 is a rip off for such a short game. Would have been 5 stars if it was longer.Version: 1.0

This needs fixing fellasAmazing game, definitely not for everyone but it needs fixing I’m not sure if this is just a problem with the iphone XR but there are faint red rectangles right across the screen when flying around, makes the game look crap big time, please fix this lads the game’s great otherwise.Version: 1.2.1

IT NEVER SAVES!!! *must read*This game has amazing graphics, visuals, and all sorts of awesome parts that make the game cool. I, not like the other reviews, do not think the controls are that bad. But the reason I gave it 3 stars was because IT NEVER SAVES! literally, whenever you go out of the game and then start it up again, you start off right at the beginning again! Are you supposed to play the game in one day completely through the whole thing? There should at least be a save and quit button, or maybe it should just auto-save like maybe, hmmm, ALMOST ALL THE MOBILE GAMES IN THE WORLD!!!!???????!!!! So, that’s my thinking. Buyers, please read this before you spend 5 BUCKS on playing the first 5 minutes of a game over and over again. 😡😡😡..Version: 1.2.1

Motion sicknessThe first two levels were ok but level 3 becomes an almost automatic zoom across the scenery. Without much control of the game on level 3, what is the actual point of participating? It just made me feel sick..Version: 1.2.2

Warning that the second half is UNEXPECTEDLY DARKLike a lot of folks I bought this game after seeing the joyous visuals from the first chapter of the game, a gorgeous, gentle meander through a landscape. Chapter 2 is just as beautiful and set during nighttime. If the whole game were like this it would be five stars. Instead we wind up in an ominous nightscape and then some nightmarish hellscape. It’s just .... dark, given how charming the game starts off..Version: 1.3.0

Great conceptI love this app very relaxing. I would give it 5 stars but you can’t save the game. I think $5 is too expensive when you can’t save it. I genuinely hope the creators are reading these reviews and are trying to rectify it. If they do make it so you can save this your game it’s worth the $5 and I’d definitely change my rating to 5 stars..Version: 1.2.1

Beautiful but ultimately frustratingThe first minute or two was awe inspiring at the beauty, then you realized it was very difficult to control from an iPad. Thinking it only needed more practice time didn’t gain any improvement. The final straw was having to start over from the very beginning. Every. Single. Time. There was so much more to explore but I could never get there..Version: 1.2.2

Lovely game But!!Lovely game I just downloaded. But after paying for a few moments I am now car sick !!! Can I return please. Sadly It’s not for me... Help.Version: 1.2.1

Good game but unintuitive settingsI found the game very relaxing and enjoyable at first but the controls (tilting phone) got frustrating after a while. A few weeks later, I found out that it was possible to change the controls so that the left side of the phone acts as an analog stick which is much easier to use. However, this option should have been presented at the start of the game. Furthermore, I don’t know how to save the game. I’m not sure if it’s possible but even if it is, the way to do it is not apparent. This means I essentially have to play through a whole level before I can close the app which is annoying because I like playing this on short breaks from work and such..Version: 1.2.1

Looks pretty but crashesI’m running this on the iPhone 7+ and it constantly crashes, the music keeps going but all the visuals just stop and there is no way to bring it back apart from quitting annoyed me to the point I’ve given up. If each pot plant is a level I’m on the second pot plant it’s a red petal when it takes you into the world where you float about it’s really hard to make out the plants your supposed to be aiming for - it’s really really hard to see I think it’s a problem with the contrast and hue but I’ve found this frustrating too..Version: 1.0

Schizophrenic controls........Psychotic one moment & neurotic the next - I’m sure there’s a great game buried in here but it’s hard to find it and play it consistently.....Version: 1.3.0

Not as Good as Console VersionI bought this game because I love the console version on PS4, but the app version for my phone is not that good with the controls I found. It doesn’t read my movements with the phone that good, and so it was more difficult to play. Not that intuitive like the console. It would be great if this was fixed..Version: 1.2.1

Glad to know it’s not just me......who finds the controls on this otherwise delightful game to be maddening. The tilt controls are really difficult to control; it’s not clear, for example, how to move down closer to the ground while moving forward. Sometimes you find yourself flying up in the air for no apparent reason. You have to be careful not to tilt your phone/iPad forward too far or your screen will flip on you. Also, the left-right tilt controls are unpredictable, at times moving left when you tilt right and at other times vice versa. The seemingly arbitrary nature of the controls can be really frustrating and mar an otherwise beautiful experience. If this were improved, this would be a five-star game..Version: 1.2.1

Sound IssueI played part of this game on the PS3 several years ago and am happy to see it on iOS. However, I cannot get it to output sound from my 8 Plus’s speakers. I can, however, output to a Bluetooth-connected speaker. Please fix! Also: it would be nice if tilting sensitivity could be changed. Would like it for the game to require less wrist motions..Version: 1.0

A little confused. After playing sky I thought I would give this a try. I mean how wrong could it be. I love the concept but the controls stink idk maybe I’ll get used to it but for 5 dollars I don’t think it’s worth it. I just can’t steer where I need to go and controlling the speed is off and on. Definitely not for the phone..Version: 1.3.0

Beautiful game, horrible portThe controls make this game frustrating and awful to play. which is a real shame, because i would be in love with it otherwise. you can only go at one speed: 10,000 miles per hour. it’s too fast to be able to turn sharply enough to get all the flowers you need to progress the game, or even to be able to see what’s going on as the world whizzes by and you get increasingly more motion sick. everything i’ve read online suggests that this game isn’t meant to be highly difficult, but the speed you’re forced to play at makes it just that, for an overall frustrating and unsatisfying experience. i wish i’d saved my money..Version: 1.3.0

Not impressedI’m tilting back and forth and obviously left to right but doesn’t seem to react. Petals just swish left and right. I don’t even think it’s worth .99pence!.Version: 1.0

Disappointed ..SAVE YOUR MONEYAfter playing this game originally on the ps3, was looking forward to replaying on iphone. Sadly it freezes often, so distracting it spoils the game as do the gyro controls 😩😩 makin it feel more like fluke that your able to go anywhere. SAVE YOUR 5quid an spend on something better. Waste of money.... real shame.Version: 1.0.1

Hard to controlThis is the first game I have paid for and I thought it would be relaxing and fun. It sure is pretty but as a brand new gamer I find the lack of control a real problem and I am frustrated rather than relaxed. I thought it was just me as a newbie but now i have read other reviews saying the same thing, too bad.....Version: 1.3.0

FlowerThis is awful. So much for relaxing as I’m struggling to turn and swivel my iPad and nothing much is happening on screen apart from a petal floating through green grass for endless minutes. No proper menu either..Version: 1.3.0

Why have you interlaced the graphics? On iPad Pro and iPhone X this is completely unnecessary. Please provide a gfx slider so we can choose. One size does not fit all. I love this game but it is like playing through a SNES emulator..Version: 1.2

Controls are terrible!Absolutely terrible controls. Don’t try and play this game any way besides looking down at your phone. The on screen controls are garbage and the game play is stilted and does not flow. Garbage!.Version: 1.3.0

CrashesIOS 11 on an iPhone 7 Plus. Crashes within the game every few seconds. Hardly relaxing or enjoyable....Version: 1.0

Flawed. This game is beautiful, but the control system and in game camera are maddening to the point of it being unplayable..Version: 1.0

FrustratingKeep putting me back at menu while i play and have to start all over.Version: 1.1

Boring and Apalling, left the players bawlingI actually find the controls are hard to steer. Also there are not enough types of flowers. The worst bit is that it starts the game again every time you logon, you can't save your progress, you just have to do the same things each time. I'm really annoyed that this app cost money. I have lots of free games that are way better than Flower. It was a pity because I was looking forward to this game because I'm very fond of Nature..Version: 1.0

I want to like it......but the tilt controls implemented make it an exercise in frustration instead of relaxing experience it's supposed to be. There is no way to adjust tilt sensitivity so you end up having to perform acrobatics with your phone or iPad to get from one point to the next. Ideally the game needs on screen joystick and sensitivity settings for both that and tilt..Version: 1.0.1

Hard to control.I wanted to buy this game for so long, now that I did, I regret so much, the controls are so hard, I hate the games where there’s no control, we need to move phone to control, it’s so hard to stay in a line. I want my money back. Not worth $7.99 at all!.Version: 1.3.0

No App Support or InstructionsNo instructions. After the 2nd flower the app just stays and rotates scenes but can’t go forward. Beautiful but frustrating which takes away from the calming music and colour..Version: 1.2.1

DisappointingI can’t say I like it. It’s hard to manoeuvre and get anywhere..Version: 1.0

Visual Glitches & High Processor UsageGreat game, I’ve played it on the PS3/4/Vita and while visually this is a good conversion there are 2 problems. On my iPhone X it’s so inefficient that the phone glows red hot Apple should force the developers to fix this as it will be shortening the life of the devices. Also while playing there are a lot of glitches and flashes of blue and green, which sadly makes it almost unplayable. Very disappointing as the original game while short is an excellent example of video games as art..Version: 1.1

Not a fanThere are not enough levels it’s crazy that I payed almost $6 for a game that I finished in 3 days. Also the controls for this game are difficult and I find myself facing the ground the whole time in order to hit certain flowers. And some of the levels are so dark they are hard to play because of the glare from lights of my surroundings. Not a game I would recommend..Version: 1.2.1

Don’t bother...Tried this - feels more like a short demo. In short it’s quite pretty- but there is not much to do and after a few minutes navigating the virtual environment you’ve pretty much done everything. Can’t see any point to it at all. Navigation is fiddly so it’s not relaxing, there is no obvious progression, nothing to solve - left me wondering what the point of the game was..Version: 1.2.1

Home indicator on iPhone XEnjoying it so far, and no crashes or control issues. Only real gripe is that the iPhone X home indicator stays on screen permanently which really spoils the immersion. Please set it to auto hide..Version: 1.0.1
