Cytus II for Negative User Reviews

Really good but DLC is far to expensiveI love this game and it has a great selection of songs and gameplay. However the DLC prices are ridiculous. Far to expensive and story content is locked behind them. 15 dollars (Australian) for a new character is crazy expensive for a mobile game when you consider the fact I can buy a brand new game on PC for that price. I’d love to rate this game 5 stars but the DLC practices are very scummy and EA like.Version: 2.0.0

Paid plot paid characterYet another update. Another paid character. This game is getting insanely expensive. While the plot is still not complete. This compare to Cytus one is a giant rip off.Version: 1.9.0

This game is great. Buuut...Look, I want to say that I adore Cytus. It was a blast to play, and I played it to death. So many good songs, all in a beautiful and fun package. But there was always the underlying issue of DLC. Several of later chapters were locked behind a $10 paywall. That was fine for me. I had all these other fantastic songs, after all. Cytus 2 has ruined that peace of mind by changing how they distribute the songs in DLC. There was great variety in the free content of Cytus. No matter which chapter you played, odds are, there was something you’d like. Cytus 2, on the other hand, restricts songs by artist. Have a kind of music you really like? Hope it’s not DLC. And for me, it was. I strongly dislike two out of three of the free artists. But I can already tell I’d love the DLC characters! All of them seem perfect for me! But I can’t play their songs unless I shell out a frankly absurd amount of money for a game that made me pay up front anyway. And that’s not even the worst part! I’m a guy that loves a good story, so when Cytus started throwing it at me, I loved it! But if HALF of the story makes me pay $30 for it? Well, I’d be very upset, and write a one-star review for the game. Ooh, that’s a good idea. I should go back in time to tell my past self to write this review!.Version: 1.1.0

What have they doneThis game used to be free and amazing to play with no problem whatsoever but they have now made it 3$ and if you want to do songs in chaos you have you level up a character just to do 1 chaos song.Version: 4.9.0

Really polishedUsually mobile games are half assed casino simulators. This game has a lot of contents and is definitely well thought out. The in app purchases for song packs is a bit too expensive but I’m rather fond of the MIKU pack. Gameplay is simple but hard to master. This is definitely the best music game on the play store..Version: 2.6.0

I Got A problemI just started using the game and I couldn’t here a single thing even though my sounds are all at the highest volume?.Version: 3.3.0

New update?First time going back to play after the new update and I no longer have my high scores for all the chaos modes, and if you want to play the chaos mode of a song now, you have to unlock it with a capsule. Also, during the game play, there’s these blue and red arrows that show up whenever I tape on a note that show the direction the line was going in, but that’s unnecessary and distracting..Version: 4.9.0

Okay gameThe game itself is very interesting, full of fun. But the music is way too ordinary - many of them seem to share similar pattern, or maybe the paid songs would be different. I play this game not only for fun, to practice my fingers, but also to enjoy the music. Now I‘m a bit disappointed. In general, 5 star to the design, 0 star for the music..Version: 4.2.5

All my work just got deletedSo I enjoy the game, I have been playing this since it came out, hours of levelling up, almost a year and a half. But for some reason, all my progress has been deleted, putting me at square one. The game never let me cloud save, which did not bother me, since I had no intention of deleting this game. I was gonna play it till the end of the story, but the game just gone and deleted it. Please do something about this Rayark. I love your games and I will support you. But this is just unacceptable..Version: 2.6.0

NiceWell as a plot skipper, i can only enjoy the game. Each level is well made, and fun. Only complaint is there is no cross platform data transfer, and also automatic cloud saving. I happen to need to spend a little over $100 just to get my second device up to par with my first. Missing feature cost me $50+. Sad.Version: 3.7.1

Content behind pay wallsYou pay for a game I would thing you would at least release more content but all the new song and characters are locked behind expensive pay walls nothing gets added to the base game even tho I payed money for it. It’s a good game but I got bored 2 hours of playing it and I didn’t expect to have to pay more money for new songs. I know they have to make money but come on not even one new character for the base game. Disappointed..Version: 4.9.0

Not as good as the originalAlthough the new mechanics give it a new breath of life, it doesn't quite seem to do what Cytus did. It has good genre variety but in terms of being a rhythm game, accuracy is now more lenient, songs feel much easier than ever even on Chaos 10+ difficulty and it has very few songs, granted its still new there needs to be content large free content updates with a higher level of difficulty for me to recommend this. Cytus simply has much harder and gratifying gameplay, not to mention the forced story elements is a nice idea but honestly feels poorly written and unnecessary to Cytus 2. In time I can see it being good but as a huge fan of the original I can't recommend this as of now.Version: 1.0.1

Good but…This is an amazing rhythm game and I’m loving the storyline, but the rest of the characters are getting to be really expensive. $50 is a bit much to spend..Version: 4.5.1

Amazing but absurdly overpricedComing from a person who played Cytus 1, I love everything this game adds to the original one from the new swipes to new design. For £2, you get a solid game but SRSLY? Only a couple of songs?? The original one had way more for free! To be fair, this is a fairly new game but still, the original had more when it first came out. To make things worse, each character expansion costs £10! By the time of writing this, all expansion packs cost ~£85, which is a complete rip off hence rating this game 3 stars. You're much better off getting the original one which is very similar yet really good. If you're a beginner, sure why not (should try Cytus 1 too imo) but unless if they slash the prices to around £2-£4, those who are going to play a lot should be expected to invest a lot for new content. Don't get me wrong, this is an AMAZING game and those who want to try it should get it, but unless if they start slashing prices and/or releasing good FREE content regularly, I'm holding off a 5 star rating..Version: 1.9.1

A sequel but more of the sameIt's great to see Cytus is back, with the excellent gameplay and music that made the original such a treat. The new storyline is a welcome addition and the characters seem varied and interesting to explore. However, locking 2 out of all 5 characters behind in-app purchases of $15 each is beyond steep to me, especially considering how those characters feature prominently in the social network storyline and the more varied music styles (rock, classical) seem to be tied to these characters also. I still like the other 3 characters but their music styles tend to fall into the same pop/electronica categories so having the different music styles locked behind a large paywall is disappointing. Given the trend seen with the in-app purchases in previous Rayark games such as Deemo and VOEZ, this isn't all that surprising but it is worrying how the purchases are getting more and more expensive. I would rather pay a flat $15 for the whole game instead of forking out more cash for in-app purchases..Version: 1.0.1

Meh.The game does not simply work as a standard rhythm game. The paid dlc is way too steep and the hit registration regularly bugs out during playing. The amount of "gimmick charts" in this game is way too much and it isn't executed too well at some times. The song selection is pretty unbearable if you're grinding the game out for the first time and your only resort are song packs. This game works fine casually I guess, though the story is extremely convuluted. I don't even know what happened, I was extremely invested yet I somehow am still lost. The drag hitboxes are atrocious, don't bother..Version: 4.4.0

Awesome gameThe rating would’ve been 5 stars before the Capso system, something I’m not gonna pay for. This is my favorite game in general, I always play it during plane trips or coach transfers. It is also the game I’ve spent most money on, possessing half the DLC characters (The latest ones don’t interest me that much) and all the Black Market songs for the characters I do possess. The introduction of a gacha mechanism should’ve been welcome, except for the fact you need to pay 9.99 just to access it. I guess I expected it to be free, but I know nothing is. Yes Rayark, you must be getting a lot of money from this game, just keep in mind that if you go over the limit and get too greedy you just might lose all your fanbase. I liked Cytus 1. I enjoyed deemo as well (even though I was never that good in it) and I absolutely fell in Love with Cytus 2 (I even bought an iPad just because I heard this game was coming out). Just, please stop bleeding us dry..Version: 2.8.5

Came back to the game after an issueSo I had a problem with the game crashing after a bit of the Ivy storyline, but now I can't even get up to that part! When I maxed out to lvl 10 again, I played the song, and then it crashed. I love the game but the crashing needs to be fixed! I crash wayyyyy too often and it's quite annoying. Other than the glitches and crashing, love the game..Version: 3.0.1

Content is getting too expensiveThe initial story into the game is very engaging and entertaining. But as you get further into the story and get better at the game you are limited to very few songs unless you fork out $15 per additional character, which they are debatably worth. The newest update adds a bunch of new content, but of course is blocked behind another $15 wall. The game is extremely fun and addictive but content is beginning to cost way too much..Version: 2.8.5

DLC character are become more expensiveThe game was great. But suddenly I found that the cost of everything in this game was almost as twice as these used to be. 16,99$ for a character is too expensive.Version: 2.9.0

It’s a good game but everything is definitely overpricedSo Cytus II is an amazing game but the problem is all the song packs, all the characters and capso all having to be payed for. Which by rounding all the dlc and all that together is over $200 and with the characters (which are for the storyline) is very annoying. Just having to pay that amount for the full game experience and storyline especially is definitely a waste of money. If the characters you have to pay for were free and optional characters like Kizuna AI and Alice could still stay at the original price. TLDR: storyline things shouldn’t have to be payed for and optional stuff can be payed for..Version: 3.4.5

Lost Miku Character after bought it since it came outHi, So basically I bought Miku Hatsune character when it came out long ago, after that I didn’t play the game for awhile. Then I log-in again and realized everything is still there(character levels, etc) but not the Miku Hatsune character. Please address the issue asap. Thanks..Version: 3.9.2

Bliss and FrustrationThe game has great music just like many of Rayark’s previous invites. So good that I’d like to follow the creators of some of the songs in the future. However this game does have some misses. This would’t be a problem if it wasn’t for my main complaint though, which is how it seems some songs were organized for the game without even the thought of “is this possible to play?” Ever taking place. Due to how many hours, maybe months even, of time that I’ve put into Rayark’s Rhythm games, I like to think I’m pretty good. But I have to say that some of these songs ARE NOT POSSIBLE to hit all the notes with without being a programmed machine. I’m sure there is a reason why they chose to make it this way, as otherwise would be a huge oversight. But I can’t see that reason justifying the helplessness some of the songs leave you with. I’d also like to mention the $80 dlc with a growing price for an incomplete story, but many people will talk about that from other reviews. But, as someone that has likely put in $100 dollars+ into these games before Cytus 2, such underhandedness is too far..Version: 1.9.0

:(There’s no music or sound in game.. I really wanted to play it.Version: 2.4.0

Image quality has loweredI love this game it’s so creative and I can play it for hours but the new update lowered the image quality for all the characters I absolutely hate the new update where they have changed the whole chaos mode system and u have to pay one cap so to unlock a mode that is crap I’m really disappointed as I used to rlly love this game.Version: 4.7.1

Unnecessary DialogueIt’s an amazing rhythm game, but there is WAYYY too much unnecessary dialogue. The story was interesting at first, but no sane person is going to read 1-2 pages of random side characters discussing pointless things. If you want to unlock new songs, you’re kinda forced to go through pages and pages of the dull storyline..Version: 3.3.0

Good but terrible.. ya know? The game has amazing sound and general game design, but the actual songs you play through, can be either very slow and boring, or way too hyper with more notes then there are fingers, the rest of the game, the story, the characters, the lack of what feels like 400 spammed ‘reminders’ a day, is great, but the actual way you play through each song/level needs to be changed, or at least undergo some pacing corrections..Version: 2.3.9

Original is much betterJust a warning for those intending to purchase - £1.99 will only get you 12 songs. To unlock more, you have to pay 9.99 per chapter. In my opinion the original is much better as you immediately unlock 100 songs, and the songs in the original are much better too.Version: 1.0.1

Micro transactions......This game is the best music tapper there is out there but... the micro transactions are way too high. $14 for another character?? I would be happy to see maybe a bundle deal that can at least make it a bit cheaper. But the micro transactions really is holding this game back alot.Version: 2.1.1

Among usAmong us.Version: 4.8.1

Good game but....The game is well made. The tracks are challenging which is great for me. But in order to read the whole story you need to pay to unlock characters. I don’t have a problem with paid dlc in a game but I do when it affects the story..Version: 3.8.1

Purely micro transactionYou want a new character? 16.99$ , a song pack? 20.99$. A skin or two? 6.99$ ... why do you think it's free to download, and why apple lets a game like this run loose? Because they get a cut from these micro transactions. They're not getting a thing from me..Version: 4.4.5

It’s a fun game, but there’s definitely too much dlc.I got Cytus 2 a few months ago, and it’s definitely a fun game. It’s ad-free, which is a plus for any free mobile game. It runs extremely smoothly, and the graphics are great. A lot of the charts are great, and some of the songs have definitely grown on me. Eventually, I got to the point where I couldn’t progress any farther without buying any song packs. That’s when the game instantly became unplayable for me. There are about 10 DLC characters, plus many song packs. Each character dlc costs about $10. That means that in order to get all content, you have to spend at least $100 dollars- not counting the extra song packs for free characters. There’s also the recently added capso system, a gacha system that gives a chance to unlock some dlc songs, in case you don’t have that much money like me. However, the capso system also costs $10 to unlock, instead of being free like most other gacha systems in free games. I wouldn’t mind this as much if the dlc were extras. Unfortunately, they all contain major parts of the main story. Basically, the game’s fun, but be prepared to spend a lot of money to get the full experience..Version: 2.8.5
