TP-Link Omada for Negative User Reviews

Speed Test MissingCan you please add Speed Test option back to omada controller?.Version: 2.1.10

Portrait only.Yet *another* app that forces you into portrait mode. As a productivity user who has Omada as a home setup, it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that I tend to use my iPad with a keyboard and typically have my iPad in landscape mode. Unfortunately Apple provides no way to force the rotation of apps made for iPad. Ironically, I can do it for iPhone so I’d rather have the iPhone version of this app than the iPad one but I have no choice to do that too. Leaving a star since I appreciate that they built the app, but it’s so annoying to use; only slightly less so than their web app on iPad. It’s a good web app too, but yet again, poor optimization for iPad..Version: 4.6.18

Doesn’t work with iPhoneDownloaded the app and followed the instructions. The app requests access to your local network but under settings there is no option to allow it access to your local area network. So the app won’t work..Version: 4.9.22

Be nice is it worked with 2FAWould be nice if it was updated to work with two factor authentication..Version: 3.3.12

Too many stepsThe app used to be slightly better in a sense that when you used to only have open your controller. Now I have to select the controller, then select what site… I only have one network so it’s always ‘default’ for me, why can’t it automatically open this network for me? Annoying. Also if I leave the app for more than a couple of seconds it takes me all the way back to the start. Again, annoying..Version: 4.11.28

Stopped workingIt used to work on my Oc200 with firmware 1.2.3, but now it doesn’t. Can’t log in to the device locally using this app. I get an unrelated error message about getting logged out every time I try..Version: 3.0.32

Paralysis by PasswordsSo need to incorporate iPhone FaceId to login. Also need a reset password for the EAP ‘cause you know…people forget passwords and shouldn’t have to reset to factory the EAP just to get back in. Maybe a single sign in options?.Version: 3.3.12

What’s the point of an app if it doesn’t work?Installed a EAP 225 and it worked great through the web interface. The app didn’t bother picking it up. I read after that I should reset it and try using the app again, did that, still didn’t work. Now the EAP is problematic... great.Version: 3.0.28

Where’s the 2FA support? When trying to log into the cloud controller it states I need to update to the new version of the app but there doesn’t seem to be an updated version. When will this be available please? Thanks!.Version: 3.3.12

Not all settings are availableCannot switch VPN on or off. Lots of settings missing from the iOS app..Version: 4.7.18

Decent products totally let down by pathetic device control softwareI have no idea why this doesn’t work with the TL-R605 security gateway. The device is good but let down by the very poor integration of control. The only way to control locally is web based because of zero support for Mac’s. Very short sighted in 2021. Come on TP-Link. I thought that you actually wanted to be a competitive brand and not just a low cost clone hardware company. Guess not..Version: 3.3.12

Good, continuing to improveTP-Link continues to improve their product. This review is based on v4.8.30. Convenient new features are released with corresponding controller updates, but some issues persist. Dark mode finally added. Bugs/Issues Include: Not able to set wireless network security to PPSK or modify PPSK profiles. • When creating a wireless network, unable to select “WPA 2 Only” encryption - must select “WPA/WPA2” which is less secure or “WPA2/WPA3-SAE” which some clients don’t support. • List of wireless clients no longer shows which EAP each client is connected to. This is a step backwards! • Unable to run a speed test from within the app..Version: 4.8.30

Need Landscape orientationCan you please give the app the ability to rotate to landscape orientation? I use an iPad Pro for work, and the ability to rotate the app to landscape orientation would be amazing for use with larger devices. Portrait orientation is awkward for large screens..Version: 3.0.28

Buyer BewareThis app is far from able to setup and control the tp-link network devices. For example I just spent two weeks going back and forth woth to-link support trying to setup VLAN on an SG2008 V3 switch. After hours and many emails, their support person suggested I use a browser to log into the SG2008 directly. Then I could set up the VLAN. I just re read the tp-link description provided here on the App Store. No where does it state that is for only minor setup as their support person stated. Shame on tp-link. So much for commercial quality products. Doesn’t their marketing department realize that having a poor performing app is going to lead to much discontent among its customer base?.Version: 4.14.14

Not greatNot user friendly. Can’t login with the app. Utter crap. If you are not IT savvy don’t bother..Version: 3.3.12

Completely UselessI have an eap610. My iPhone can see and connect to the eap610, but the Omada cannot find it..Version: 4.6.18

无法记住密码了这次升级后 总是要求重新输入密码 需要经常进入 极为不方便 算是bug吧.Version: 3.1.24

No need to app OmadaOmada app looks good. Very easy config AP. However, the main security feature of AP is client isolation or SSID isolation. This feature hides in the web UI of Ap, it can be access from 192.168.0.254 default address. After enable isolation. The Omada app is not usable. Same to someone trying to hack your wifi. They will fail because no use to link to your wifi anymore. All are isolated . Client and network. Your main router and pc are all safe now. As to software controller , it is a joke. Never working and actually no need to use. You access web ui from wired pc and do the configuration of AP and save the setting. All is done..Version: 4.5.6

Stopped recognizing APSuddenly stops recognizing AP. I have only one AP and connected to it but this app has a mind of its-own..Version: 1.0.8

Doesn’t workSays it’s connected to the EAP WAN but then below that says you must connect to the EAP WAN.Version: 4.2.10

Connection LostSupport to get the app to work or configure an EAP245 is worthless! Each Live Support person times out on me..Version: 3.0.36

Terrible appTo link EAP610 is terrible. Info on set up and troubleshooting info are not consolidated on website. Any so called help on loving in does not work . When trying to sign it keeps saying can’t find server. Very frustrating and time consuming. Even tech help was fruitless. Doing a Google search takes me to TP to fine my unit and the eap 610 isn’t even listed..Version: 4.13.28

Limited functionality and NO LANDSCAPE mode! This app has so many potentials but has very limited functionality vs the Web version. Also it is missing LANDSCAPE MODE for iPad. Although it has limited functionalities, by adding a LANDSCAPE MODE I will give it more starts.Version: 4.2.60

Crashes instantly after connecting to controllerThe app crashes instantly after connecting to an oc200 running the current software..Version: 3.0.28

Firmware UpdateThe update caused the owner not to be able to do anything in the app even on the web based site it has locked the owners out..Version: 4.10.14

IOS 14Keeps crashing in the AP page after updating to iOS14.Version: 3.0.28

Features MissingOn older versions, as far as I remember, you used to be able to change a schedule for any SSID you wanted to. Now with the recent update you can no longer update Wi-Fi schedules or pause Wi-Fi SSIDS through the iOS app. You have to do it through the web based console. Please bring those features back..Version: 4.2.46

Very basic, doesn’t even work in landscapeI’ve recently swapped from Unifi to Omada and was hoping that this app would be as good as the unifi one. It seems it isn’t and won’t even work in landscape mode which is a pain when using a docked ipad. This needs a little more development still to include more of the features of the web portal..Version: 4.6.16

No horizontal view?App is ok but why can’t it be rotated, that’s a pretty basic feature….Version: 4.7.18

Keeps deleting Omada ControllerThe app keeps deleting the Omada controllers that I add, this has happened 4 times already, need to fix this!!.Version: 2.0.9

Needs some real improvementsOne you can edit items names of the name that’s on your APs for some reason it works on a few ….. Two the stand alone APs set up works from time to time where you you can’t turn the the LED on and off and let not get on the the cloud connection that works when it feels like it.You can migrate or let alone connect to your APs .So over all the desk top app and the Mobile app needs a real overhaul to fix simple problems that making the app look bad in my eyes. There’s no such thing as improvements if you never correct the problems.Version: 4.3.10

Thanks For NothingAfter successfully using the app for several years the recent update kicked everything offline and now requires passwords for the app, and also for each EAP. How hard is it to update an app and not boot your users off? Absolutely frustrating.Version: 4.5.10

Useless for standaloneThe standalone ap page shows me as connected to the wlan of the device and then lower down tells me I’m not connected to a wlan..Version: 3.0.33

SafariI cannot use this on my IMAC with Safari so have to use Google Chrome. Please fix.Version: 4.14.14

Awesome overall but needs workBought the Omada system a few days ago, ER605 router, OC200 controller, and SG2218 switch. I played around with the ER605 in standalone mode for a couple of days and there's a lot of awesome features packed into it. However, a lot of those features are missing in the Omada control panel/GUI. For example, ARP Spoofing Defense, Flow Control, manual Duplex selection on the gigabit ports, WAN Failover Ping and DNS Query settings, and several others. There's also a slight issue with bandwidth for those getting full gigabit speeds from their ISP. My previous gaming wireless router easily gave us 940Mbps peak over Ethernet. The Omada system, however, only allows up to 700-800Mbps peak. If I remove the OC200 controller and just use the ER605 in standalone mode, I can disable ARP Spoofing Defense, enable Flow Control on the WAN, and we get the speeds we should be getting. We're not the only Omada users experiencing this issue. Additionally, the Omada GUI through a web browser is not optimized for tablets and super clunky. It will randomly scroll when you're trying to do something, hint buttons pop up and then disappear within a split second so you can't read anything, the overall aspect ratio doesn't fit iPad and crops out content, and so on. Overall, TP-Link Omada is potentially a formidable competitor to UniFi. However, these bugs, lack of features, and bandwidth issues need to be ironed out. I believe they can be..Version: 4.2.46

Speed of networkCan you increase the number you are allowed to put in for the speed of your network? You are max at 1000. I have a 1.2gb per sec network. The speeds are increasing so it needs to be much faster at least 2.5 gb per sec..Version: 4.6.18

Crashes when accessing local controllerWhen I tap on a local controller the app immediately crashes. I was able to access the controller without issue in a previous version of the app..Version: 4.5.10

Good until todayNet played up today. Now er605 is disconnected in app. The eaps are connected fine. Not sure how to reconnect er605..Version: 4.4.18

Missing 2FA supportThis app used to be quite good enabling the discovery and adoption of EAP’s as well as basic management of the controller. But with the latest update to the cloud controller interface and the addition of 2FA this app needs to be updated ASAP. The app fails to login and advises you that the account has 2FA, then advises you to download the updated app (which doesn’t exist) and to disable 2FA (which doesn’t make sense). Please update the app to include 2FA..Version: 3.3.12

Decent, missing option to control routerGood app pretty basic, but I would like to be able to control omada compatible routers without having to do it through a software controller.Version: 4.5.10
