In lots of ways it’s great...I did enjoy the game and there were some lovely puzzles. However many of the puzzles were simply looking for a button/switch which is less enjoyable that those requiring reasoning. The biggest problem is the abstract nature of the objects you collect. Often it isn’t clear even what you’re looking at, let alone which object to use it with. I think games like this require really clear visual cues which sadly this doesn’t have very often. For example, most of the objects you pick up are different shaped lumps of metal. Alongside this it’s infuriating trying to push and pull and press so many things to find the right object to move in exactly the right way. The dragon heads are a good example of this. There were a lot of occasions where I resorted to hints for the ‘easy’ things whereas I could solve complex puzzles unaided. So close to being a brilliant game but a little more thought and empathy needed. It’s hard in all the wrong ways..Version: 1.0.2

Fabulous game with a major glitchThis is an exquisite game for all the reasons others have said. I would highly recommend it but it has a major problem. Not once, but TWICE it erased my profile and all of my progress. Both times were when I stopped playing the game to do other things but left it running in the background on my phone. The fist time I slogged through half the game again, the second time I deleted it. I’ve never had a game or app have this problem and it ruined this one for me. I hope you all can fix it. And to folks still playing, make sure you hard exit the game each time you set it down or you might lose everything..Version: 1.0.3

Too shortAn awesome game however too short not long enough for the price you pay...Version: 1.0.8

Where’s my profile?Having enjoyed the game (great graphics, good puzzles, etc, etc), I was pretty disappointed to pick it up to play just now and my profile has just disappeared! I was fairly far into the game (the room after the rope trolley across a courtyard). Although I enjoyed the game it would be pretty tedious to have to start all the way from the beginning to get to where I was! Developers take note, this needs fixing - I paid £4.99 for this game and now I am annoyed!!.Version: 1.0.3

Not as good as the last one..The game is good and beautifully put together but the puzzles in this one aren’t as engaging - some are just too time consuming such as the reflecting lights which you have to sequence to hit different things - it isn’t difficult but just too many of the same thing over and over and the room is difficult to picture in such a way as to work out the puzzle properly because you’re so close to everything and all corners look the same so you forget which part of the room you’re in! The puzzles are either simply unclipping something or simple but repetitive tasks that take too long. At the start the clues weren’t clear as to which world or room they were relevant to which wasn’t ideal either ( I rarely ask for clues but spent 2 days trying to figure one part out after having a clue because it wasn't a logical sequence). This is still better than a lot of puzzles out there but not as good as the first HoD game...Version: 1.0.3

Incredibly frustrating gesture requirements. The camera does not stay stationary for you to be able to manipulate hardly anything. So something that I’ve been trying to manipulate for two minutes but does nothing ends up being the thing that I have to swipe *this* way instead of *that* way, or in order to do something it needs to be zoomed in *one* more time. A little bit of that is fine, because you don’t want to just allow the player to click around aimlessly trying to find things by chance. But when it’s right off the bat and consistent throughout it’s incredibly annoying and I end up doing that anyway because there’s nowhere else to go until I figure out the ONE way it can be done. But that’s pretty much like the last game, as well. Having to open doors fully instead of automatically. Un/screwing something manually when you’re trying to not trigger the whole thing to spin, it’s just ridiculous. There should be some kind of HOLD setting at LEAST on the items, or a purposeful turn. This nonsense has got to stop..Version: 1.0.8

Not a sequel!I bought and played Part 1, then I bought what was advertised as “a sequel to…” only to find it’s not! It’s actually just Part 1 again! So you get to pay for the same game twice, surprise! Not impressed.Version: 1.0.9

Lost my profileGreat game, but 5 chapters in my profile disappeared and now I have to start again..Version: 1.0.3

GreatI liked it and had fun until I got to the end and ran into the 4 gold arrow rubic’s cube thing. I could ‘t finish the game. Some of us don’t have the patience to puzzle it out and we can’t finish. There should be a panic option to bypass and still finish the game. When this happens the game is no longer fun. I had the same thing happen in the first game. I regretfully will not be getting the next one. I did pass the puzzle by randomly flipping the blocks until I somehow hit the right combo. That is not a fun way to solve a puzzle. I went back later to finish the game and guess what ? My profile is gone. I am not stating from scratch so I will just delete the game. This is sad because I was really enjoying playing..Version: 1.0.3

ReviewGreat game - just not long enough!.Version: 1.0.9

Started off very well, but...... the storyline became confusing and led to a disappointing finale. I really liked the first three chapters, but the tie-in to the first game left me somewhat perplexed. Having completed the game and paid attention, I still don’t fully get it. As others have mentioned, some of the angles can be awkward when trying to solve certain puzzles, although overall the graphics are done well, with the exception of the actual in-game characters. In fact the worse aspect of this second instalment was the hideous voice accents. Come on guys, with all the effort the team has put into this to create a game with atmosphere, could you not at least have had an Italian accent for the character voices? It really detracted from he feel of the game and in truth would have been better as text only. Overall I did enjoy the game, even though it's not as good as the first HoDV, and I would recommend it, but I was very disappointed with this instalment's ending and the overlong cutscene which personally I felt was unnecessary. But hey, opinions vary and I will still be looking forward to part III..Version: 1.0.9

Profile disappearedI am so frustrated. I got to the dragons upside down with the coloured liquid. Florence I think. Just gone in to carry on and my whole profile has been wiped. As in start again and create new profile. Why why why!!!.Version: 1.0.3

BullPaid $8 for an infinite loop of the first chapter.Version: 1.0.9

Touch UI needs work...The puzzles range from extremely simple to outrageously complicated. What makes it all rather frustrating is the touch UI is erratic in it's behavior. Once a puzzle is complete, that area is no longer able to get focus, but not always. This can leave you wondering if there's something else there you missed, and a couple times there were, but mostly not. That's confusing. What is more confusing is that far too often you can touch something a dozen times and on the very next try, it moves. But once in a while, all you have to do is lightly touch something and it rattles or has clear marks so you know it's something that can be moved. Again, frustratingly inconsistent..Version: 1.0.9

Doesn’t workI loved the first game and thought it would be so much more fun playing the second one. Once I had purchased it, I opened it up and to my surprise it had crashed. I’ve restarted my phone several times and every single time it has crashed. I’m not satisfied with the second game. Not at all..Version: 1.0.8

No sound! Was looking forward to the sequel, but there’s no sound when I play. Tried other apps and can hear sound. Not for this game though. Disappointed..Version: 1.0.9

Lacks atmosphereThis game is empty. In every one of The Room series I couldn’t take my head out of them. This game I’m struggling to want to stay in. The touch-response is hit and miss too. I keep touching a tool I need and then think I need to look elsewhere, only to find out later that I had actually found what I needed but it wasn’t responding to my touch. Really, I’m bored senseless in this game..Version: 1.0.9

Kind of a letdown after the first game...To be fair, I’m only in the first chapter, but coming fresh off the previous game, it’s a little disappointing. There was real immersion the minute you got in, because you had no idea where you were, who you are, why you’re there, etc. While the identity part of that isn’t possible in a sequel like this, the fact that you get a whole map with a time and date kind of ruins it. Another immersion issue: the graphics are just... bad. So much worse than the last game, no question. The first had real definition in everything, there was a shine to the metal, a grit to the dirt, and every brick felt like something you could reach out and touch if you gave it a little more. But here? It’s like plastic everywhere, nothing is defined and pixels bleed into each other as you look around. It almost feels like you guys stopped caring. I can see that beautiful refinement, that pride that went into the first game in the closeups of some items, but it’s nowhere else. Not that I’ve seen, anyway..Version: 1.0.6

A bit disappointedSome of this is really excellent - a couple of very good chapters that have interesting puzzles and good visuals and these are fun to play. Features that make the game irritating are the ‘journal’ that adds nothing to the game as it records nothing of use to help you progress, the extremely long monologues with two characters that do nothing but fill time without furthering the game, and a couple of chapters that have no flow regarding how respective game parts might relate to each other making them plain frustrating. The worst feature is the glitch in chapter 6 where the metal triangle which I have set up correctly is not accepted into the door slot where it’s supposed to go. This has just about ruined the game for me as I cannot complete it. I had a similar issue with House 1 with the stupid astrolabe not triggering the next sequence despite having solved the puzzle. This eventually resolved and I did finish that game but unfortunately really spoilt the experience for me. At the prices charged, it’s really not good enough..Version: 1.0.9

A pale imitation of The RoomThe controls are frustrating at the best of times; you drag your finger across the screen to move an object but instead rotate your view, and vice versa. I got to a point where I was moving parts of a puzzle and suddenly lost the control of moving the parts and instead all I can do is move the view around. I closed it and came back; still can’t move the pieces that I need to. I decided to choose “Restart Chapter” from the menu, figuring it would take me back to the beginning of the room I was in, but it took me back so far, like a couple hours worth of gameplay. Having played all The Room games, going through this game is hard to take as everything about it is just a little bit worse; less clever, more frustrating. No way I’m playing through all the sub-par puzzles to get back to where I was so I might be able to actually keep going. Boo to you..Version: 1.0.9

Be ready to lose hours of your timeI’ve been playing this game for probably around 10 hours with my son and we got 3 quarters of the way through the game. All of a sudden the game data has been lost. I’ve seen loads of other reviews with exactly the same issue that I had and the developers continually blame iCloud or not having enough storage! This is nonsense as I have a brand new iPhone with just 20GB of 200GB being used and there is no reason why my iCloud account would be an issue, I don’t even use iCloud. My message to the developers is stop being douche bags and blaming iCloud for your coding issues. I don’t care if I get my money back or not, you can keep it if your that desperate, I am more annoyed that you fob off loyal supporters of your game by blaming iCloud and don’t take responsibility for your coding issues that cost players hours of their time. Sort it out..Version: 1.0.3

Has issues that will never be fixedIt’s a fun game, but there are times where I just wasn’t touching something perfectly so nothing would happen. So would do the hints and found out I was right, but then after a couple mins of just spam tapping it’ll just randomly work. Super frustrating to say the least. Then I’ve had times where you have to move to pieces into place but requires a pinch motion to do, but a pinch motion also moves you backwards. So it was an absolute fight to get it to move the two items instead of move me back. The first one was not this frustrating. Hoping the III is better and not this frustrating either..Version: 1.0.9

So good until I hit a bug! So disappointedI was loving this game until I got to the secret library and the dragon pinball game in the book got to my 2nd ball in then the third ball disappeared never to be seen again. I thought I’d restart the chapter to reset the bug but it took me right back to the start and I won’t enjoy doing it all again! I am so disappointed :(.Version: 1.0.9

So-SoThe game graphic are truly fantastic. The puzzles are also challenging. So why three stars? After a while, it’s boring. After playing The Room (all games), I was use to a progressive resolution to an objective where all puzzles lead to that end, and all were interconnected. The puzzles here are not connected for a progressive resolution and just one puzzle after another in different rooms, different settings. Yes, you have to solve all to get to the end, but the lack of interconnection for an end result gives a feeling of beautiful graphics and a bunch of puzzles. For fun just solving puzzles, go for it. For a progressive resolution, well...I guess a matter of perspective..Version: 1.0.8

Game is great - when it doesn’t crashThe game itself is easily worthy of 5 stars, but I’m having trouble actually getting the game to open without crashing. I downloaded it last night and played for an hour or two without trouble. When I tried to open it again later, it would only progress me to the point of choosing my name and then the next loading screen before the app crashes and closes. I tried it 6-7 times before it actually loaded. It’s now doing the same thing again today - except now I can’t find the “sweet spot” to make it load again. Any way to fix this or tricks to make it work? Edited review - I changed my review from 4 to 1 star. I restarted my phone and the game no longer “crashes” on the loading screen 6-7 times before working, it simply stops doing anything and freezes on the loading screen until I force quit the app. I cannot make it run at all, regardless of how many times I force quit and try again. For a $5 game, that’s unacceptable..Version: 1.0.4

Nowhere near as good as Episode II played the first Episode several times, and was always impressed with its logic, functionality and beauty. Episode II has the beauty, but the logic simply stinks. The next step after solving any one puzzle is a shot in the dark, not following logically at all. I am about halfway through, I suppose, and have spent a great deal of my time simply waiting at least for the first hint to be presented, so I can begin to guess what unusual place to look for yet another odd switch. Pretty exasperating and not much fun. Currently, I am trying to place some odd piece of machinery into a winch. No idea why that is necessary, but it simply won’t work. I’m about to give up on this game completely. Please in your next installment, if there is to be one, employ some programmers with a bit of practical knowledge of real machinery, and who can invent puzzles that stimulate creative thinking, not just “here’s another weird button or switch. Guess where it goes!”.Version: 1.0.6

Black screenCan’t open it!.Version: 1.0.6

Some vague cluesSome sections just don’t make sense. You should create the puzzles with the user in mind. Put yourself in our shoes. Test the game on users first before you release a game. Some sections I just fluked, luckily, and still don’t know what on earth was supposed to be done. The mirrors/light section is just a headache. The Room games made sense. This game has parts that are just senseless and frustrating. 3 for graphics. EDIT: My profile was gone this morning? There was no profile? All game play lost. Great..Version: 1.0.3

Profile lostGot most of the way through the game and then my profile disappeared , I don’t really want to play the whole thing again , was great while it was working.Version: 1.0.3

Enjoyable until last chapterDecent game for those who love puzzlers. Entertaining story, good voice acting, lovely artwork, nice music. But by the last chapter the puzzles were becoming tedious. Trial-and-error puzzles get old really fast and there were too many of them. I was irritated to find there was more than one puzzle with yellow symbols on a gate/door. Perhaps there’s a more logical approach to solving it other than trial-and-error. While I did know what I had to do to solve it, I used the hint system to finish the second one. I was just too bored with it. Also, sometimes the inventory and hint icons or the “special tool” would block clues in the environment. What knocked off two stars though was the painful ending. A five minute (or more) narrated poem...that’s the reward? And did it really have to rhyme?! Some of the rhymes were a real stretch, actually made me wince. I was really perplexed at this choice. Can’t remember if the first game did this. Keep plot explanations concise or give the gamer an option to skip it or read later. If you want to do something different, then do it well..Version: 1.0.3

Not worth the moneyIt’s a really good game, but way too short for the amount it costs.Version: 1.0.3

CrashesHave a brand new 6th generation iPad, with iOS 13.3, but the game crashes consistently when loading the fourth chapter. Great game, but if this isn’t fixed soon then it’s zero stars from me..Version: 1.0.3
