✓ Cute app but subscription not worth it.I love the idea behind this app, I’m looking forward to putting together our book at the end of the first year. However, I paid for a subscription to get more questions and I full regret it. I just get sent the same 20 questions over and over and over again. I’m not sure how many times I can answer “where is your favourite place to give baby kisses”…it’s to the point I now skip 90% of the questions I’m sent. Just keep the free version. The subscription is truly a waste of money..Version: 2.17.0
✓ App won’t open anymore!!I keep getting the questions and I’m on my last day of the free trial and was gonna sign up but now when I go to open the app it never actually loads so I have no access to anything I’ve done... don’t want to sign up anymore what’s the point of paying if I have no access, also I couldn’t even sign up if I wanted to since the app doesn’t work....Version: 2.1.0
✓ Apps great, books notI love this app but was so disappointed when I received the book in the mail and the pictures were either pixelated or completely blurred..Version: 3.6.0
✓ Great idea. Needs workI’m only a couple months into my book, but I’ve noticed a few quirks. First off, the repeat questions are frustrating. I paid for a membership in order to be asked questions to spark creativity. Being asked the same question over and over only sparks annoyance. I realize this is a unique issue, but since we are all on ‘stay home’ orders due to COVID. Questions about adventures we’ve gone on, new things my daughter has seen or what she does when strangers hold her are a little tough to swallow. The questions aren’t relevant in the current climate. I reached out to Qeepsake about this and was told that there would be a change in questions ‘next week.’ I haven’t seen a change, though I have see more repeat questions. There are also issues opening the app on several occasions. When I attempt to get into the app, the home screen pops up with the ‘Qeepsake’ logo for a brief moment then everything goes white. I’ve verified that I have the most current version of the app, so that isn’t the issue. It makes it difficult to notate those spur of the moment memories when I’m not able to open the app. I know I can text in messages, but that doesn’t solve the problem. I also don’t like that I can’t add more than 4 pictures to an entry. Even if they were on the opposite page, it would still be nice to be able to include them..Version: 2.4.0
✓ Could do more to help busy parentsThe concept is great, but for a company that constantly tells you they are trying to make it easier for busy parents, they could make it easier and cheaper. As a new mom I loved the app and was adding new pictures weekly. But life gets in the way and over time I had a huge backlog of photos that I wanted to add. It was disappointing to find out that you have to pay more in order to backdate photos. When I finally had all my photos uploaded, life got in the way again and my membership ended before I could print my book. I couldn't believe that I had to pay for one more entire year of membership in order to print the book that was already ready and waiting in the app. Then you pay to print the book, on top of the one year membership fee. Adding the extra fees and barriers to getting a book finished doesn't really lend itself to the company's goal of helping busy parents..Version: 3.6.8
✓ Great concept, app is lacking**edited in response to developers answer- I have reached out at least 2-3 times in the past regarding the crashing and glitching issue. I was just told to uninstall and reinstall which may slightly improve the app’s functionality for a few days but then it’s just as bad as before again** I LOVE the concept of the app and I love that it gives me something tangible to do with all the great photos of my sweeties. However, about every two months the app crashes on my phone and I have to uninstall and reinstall it. Also, if I spend more than 15-20 minutes in the app it glitches and stops working so I have to come back and try again when I can find another free moment. Also, I tried to use it on a computer thinking it might be easier/faster/less glitching but it is not easy to navigate and it’s very laborious. Lastly, to actually purchase the books, it’s crazy expensive- I paid around $300 for the hardback one and around $200 for the paperback one and that was with coupon codes and birthday month discounts. With all of that said, I will continue to use it for now but perhaps not as long term as I had hoped to unless some bugs are fixed..Version: 2.17.3
✓ Questions need to be relevant to child’s age. Lost interest quicklyI was really excited for this app, however the questions that were being sent were not relevant to my sons age so we started to ignore the questions as well as not relevant to the country I live in asking about thanksgiving in November. If the questions were sent in relevance to your child’s age and the country you live in , it would be fantastic and we wouldn’t have lost interest. We wasted our money on this app, I’ve been using baby’s first year a simple book of firsts by Lucy darling. It’s fantastic (hard copy book)..Version: 3.6.0
✓ Silly questions, no refunds, waste of moneyGreat concept but the questions are silly. You pay for the year and when I went to cancel after a couple weeks, it’s sounding like I have to forfeit all money paid. What a rip!! It’s not even sounding like the books afterwards are affordable. You might as well send yourself a text message every time you want to remember something cute about your baby and then create your own photo book..Version: 2.4.0
✓ Liked the app, book was disappointingI liked that the App kept me on track with taking photos and journaling moments and milestones. I found however that the photo quality was less - many of my images looked grainy. And I didn’t like that the book printed on both sides of the page. I found that was a disconnect from the hours and hours and hours I spent editing and perfecting my book (formatting is a challenge with this App!) only to have conflicting pages with large and small and medium font next to each other. Made my book look cheap. And I didn’t feel it was reflective of the time and money I invested in creating a baby book. It would be more appealing given the automatic font issues with the app if printing were just one one page - make this an option at checkout please!.Version: 2.6.4
✓ CommentHi I would like to add captions with texts into my photos, thanks, other than that it’s great.Version: 2.6.2
✓ Horrendous editing experienceHonestly, it makes me seethe how horrible the editing software is. I’m going to pay Al this money for the documentation of my baby’s first 8 months of life (not going to make it the whole year with this app), and I would love to edit it so that it’s perfect, but that just isn’t a realistic option. It’s take a couple of minutes for every small change and you don’t even have control of photo placement. As a new mom, do I have 10-12 hours to edit this book? Yeah right. Wasnt this supposed to save me time and effort? If I had realized how bad it was I would have stopped using the app and swallowed the subscription fee early on this year but by the time I found out it was too late, there were too many precious memories stored. With something so special I want the best but I guess like other times in life, I will be settling for “ok.” There are some good ideas here but I Won’t be Resubscribing..Version: 3.5.2
✓ Mostly good.I just upgraded to the plus plan at the end of my free trial. I like the questions and the texts. I was excited to be able to add more entries and photos. I opened the app and have found two glitches that are really annoying. When adding a journal entry you are able to change the calendar date. The glitch happens when you are changing the date, the date view shuts after the month adjustment, so you have to open it again to get the day changed. And sometimes it shuts before you finish that. The other problem is that the app doesn’t really stay open if you move to another app. I was trying to copy and paste from a letter my husband wrote. I quickly learned that I had. To copy the text onto my clipboard before opening the Qeepsake app. Then paste it in and save it before changing the journal entry date or it would all disappear. Then to go back out of the app to copy more text from the letter, back into the app and select the edit entry feature to add to my entry and save again before exiting. Really annoying. But I do like the concept of the company, so I will keep it up for the year and see how it goes..Version: 2.4.0
✓ Canadian buyers bewareI bought the app because I thought it was a great idea. I bought the full app for the year with the idea that I would get a book done at the end the end of the year. I like the idea of responding to texts and editing became tolerable after the update. Living in Canada however, has made ordering the book unaffordable. A basic soft cover book cost me 147.00 Canadian and I’m typing this to add that as of today, I was charged an additional 43 dollars for customs! There’s no warning for those outside of the States when you’re buying the app (about how much the books will really cost!). Only 6 dollars of that was for taxes, the rest was a UPS processing fee! (UPDATE: Qeepsake refunded me the brokerage fee and are looking into modifying how they mail internationally). The book is no longer going to be a lovely keepsake, but a reminder of when I was duped into spending more than I can afford on mat leave! Yes it’s a great concept, but not worth the cost (especially for those outside of the USA)..Version: 1.8.2
✓ Really great idea but too expensiveThis is a cool app, especially since my newborn won’t sleep anywhere besides on me, it’s so much easier to add memories. I can’t imagine having much time to fill in an actual book. Being in Canada though I didn’t realize it was in USD at first so not sure if it is worth $70 Canadian for not even the premium version of the app. I probably wouldn’t have paid that much if I had realized it was USD. Also to order a book is very expensive..Version: 2.4.0
✓ Concept great, repetitive questions, expensive bookI really liked the idea of it, because I’m so bad at writing things in an actual book. Sending a text whenever something happened that I wanted to remember or to answer questions via text seems like such a genius idea. Unfortunately, as many others have mentioned, the questions are repetitive (how often does the answer to “is your baby a sensory seeking baby” really change? Or I get the question whether baby loves bathtime at least once a month - the answer hasn’t changed). I can upload my own memories though which makes it worth it to me. I was very excited to order a book for baby’s first birthday, but the cost for the hardcover would be close to $200!!!! I don’t even have all the entries in there yet that I wanted in the book. That is a ridiculous price and I don’t want to spend that much money. That’d be $200 plus the monthly payment I made for a memory book that I could have gotten way cheaper, if I weren’t so lazy. I also don’t want to use less entries, because it took a long time to write them and find appropriate photos. So now I’m trying to figure out how to get my answers into an actual online photo book that would be cheaper to print..Version: 2.1.0
✓ Questions are repetitive, and at times irrelevantI like the fact that this app makes it easy to keep track of your memories with your kid(s). However, at times the questions are redundant (ex, what’s something funny that your baby did this week...nothing, they are 1 month old), or they often times repeat themselves. I suggest you add more age appropriate questions, and work on the frequency of repeat questions..Version: 2.5.0
✓ Pictures look better in the app than on paperI just received the book and I am utterly disappointed. I have put so much work into it! It would have been easier to print out some pictures in Walmart. They would end up better quality. Rearranging the pictures in the book is impossible. You might get a huge picture of a dirty baby sitting alone, and a tiny picture of your entire family with eight people in a frame. You cannot change size or number of pictures per page. At least I did not see how and it was not obvious. Title page is not centered. Not worth it! Stay away! Unsubscribe!.Version: 2.5.3
✓ Don’t buy this app in 2021It may be better but I bought it for my baby and every other question is about the Rona Virus. It’s very disappointing that’s not why I bought the app. I stopped using it because it just made me more mad! 2020 is a year no one will forget and I don’t need a baby book that also involved the Corona virus!.Version: 2.5.2
✓ Good concept but repetitive questionsI really like the idea of keeping the electronic journal and make a book later concept. However, the questions are very repetitive(same question would be asked not only more than once but couple times). There is no way you can search a certain question because it is not categorized, you have to go through all the entries to edit the entry. Photos too, wish there is a gallery view so that I don’t add same photo twice. They also sort of force customers to get subscriptions because the limitation of book orders. I don’t like it that you have to get a year subscription at a time. I ended up with ordering a traditional baby book anyway. This is sort of wasting money and time. Would not recommend it to any friends..Version: 2.5.0
✓ Don’t do if in Canada!!!Not impressed just auto renewed my subscription without emailing me ahead of time. After reading about the book fees I will cancel don’t want to deal with duty and exchange!!!.Version: 3.6.0
✓ Way overpriced for what you get.You would think that after paying the $35 annual fee, there would be some sort of discount on actually purchasing the books. My book for the first six months alone is going to cost $91. So essentially for the first year of my daughter’s life, I’m going to be spending over $200 which is sort of insane for a baby book. It’s a good concept but the prompt questions are totally random and tend to repeat. There are also little to no questions based on age/milestones. So I’m basically making all of my own entries which is fine except for the fact that I’m not exactly sure what I’m paying $200 for other than a photo book which I can get much cheaper with a service like Shutterfly that will offer discounts. As a busy mom of two, I love the concept of Queepsake but the value here is way lacking..Version: 2.3.2
✓ Starts out awesome them keeps surprising you with costsAfter a trial period (which you don’t know you’re in) it all of a sudden goes you need to upgrade or you will be downgraded to only one question per week. So I’m like fine. I will just add stuff manually. Then yesterday I find out I’ve maxed out on the number of photos I can upload for the month. Then just now I got a message saying I have to upgrade to a paid version in order for any spontaneous memories to be saved. Now I’m like I’ve done all this work saving memories and for what...to be forced to pay a monthly fee. If it were a dollar or two ok maybe but this isn’t worth it. I think it would’ve been fine if I had known in advance but it just keeps surprising me with its limitations. I just now got so frustrated with this last message that it drove me to come straight here and leave a review. And I normally don’t like to leave bad reviews unless really bad..Version: 2.4.1
✓ More expensive than I anticipatedI live in Canada and so when I ordered the book, along with exchange rates, I was also charged custom fees when it arrived. Just be warned that a small book ended up costing me over $50 CDN (& that was with a sale). Perhaps they can have a Canadian version in the future to avoid extra costs....Version: 2.3.1
✓ Concept great but falls shortConcept is great. I love that I get texts because I’m way more apt to answer a few questions on my phone versus writing in an actual book. However this app has a long way to go. Hire some developers. Reach out to customers for feedback and make the app better! First don’t waste your money on buying the package for your spouse-they only get 1 question and for the first few months they were the exact same question (Yes you may have different answers but remember your book cost is based on pages and I doubt this app is advanced enough to place same questions on one page). Second, it’s annoying how often the app repeats questions. I think I got a question about tummy time once a week for a couple of months. I know the app says they strive to get the milestones appropriate but I just got a question about whether my child was sitting on his own. He’s almost one! (Yes the birth date is correct. The day before I got a question about his first birthday)..Version: 2.1.0
✓ Hidden costsHidden expenses around every corner. You pay annually just to be asked questions. This is supposed to include a “free” book but even if you only have a few entries they will spread them out over more than the small free limit of 30 pages resulting in a charge. Then you’ll be asked to pay a fairly high shipping fee for something that can fit in an envelope and takes a month to get to you. Lastly, if you want to take your text and pictures and memories, they will charge you to export your own memories. I wanted my book to include my child’s entire first year, so I took us to complete, so I had to pay for two worth of subscription. At the basic rate, this is more than $80. Plus, there’s no way to get a free book unless you only want it to include a couple so I had to pay for the book and then I had to pay high shipping and and I thought I might want to print another book later and they need to keep my journal entries. At the end of the day I paid over $100 for a 36 page book that barely includes a handful of memories. Very disappointed. Would not recommend..Version: 3.6.8
✓ Good concept, poor executionI love the idea but there is a lot of work needed on the execution. Pretty quickly, the questions get recycled or are just generic (ie. what did you do today). I expected thoughtful questions to help me keep track of things I might not have recorded myself, but I’m finding I skip all the questions and just record my own milestones which is not the point of the app. Also the app is buggy and not easy to navigate. It loses the information you type if you leave the app mid entry. It refreshes every time you open so I’m constantly scrolling. The other big problem I have is the book output. It is not customizable and the book is really clunky. If I actually printed a book with all the memories and pictures I want to save, it would be hundreds of pages because it’s formatted so poorly. If I hadn’t paid for a year, I would have stopped using this within the first month. Now I’m just using it to record and making my own book on another platform. I would not recommend or use again..Version: 2.5.0
✓ Ok but not age specificIt’s nice and easy getting the texts and answering, adding photos etc but I find a lot of the questions aren’t geared toward the age of my baby. I have an 8 week old and I get questions about something he did that was funny this week (nothing, he eats sleeps and poops right now...) or what he does with me that reminds me of something I did with my parents...( again, nothing. I don’t remember that I did with my parents at 8 weeks old.....). It would be nice if the questions were sent based on the age of your baby at the time..Version: 2.4.0
✓ Love the ConceptI fell in love with this app during a trial. I have it set to ask me a question every night after I put my little one to bed, and it is nice to reflect on the day. I purchased the app because I thought it was such a great concept. Unfortunately, since purchasing it I am rarely using it. I find I am receiving many of the same questions I have already answered, and while I understand that babies change and therefore the answer could change... this is not really the case for the questions being asked. I am no longer excited to answer the questions each night as they have become boring and repetitive. I wish I would have just stuck to the free version. That being said, it is a great app otherwise and I do recommend it. But I am just not as excited for it as I was originally was and can’t see myself ordering a book as they look fairly basic..Version: 1.10.0
✓ Expensive, repetitive, misleadingThe books are too expensive to order from Canada. The questions are repetitive and some are not age appropriate (asking if my 8yr old has learned any new words as of he were 2yrs) Purchased a one year subscription and it auto renewed with no notice. Plenty of emails about sales, but no mention of renewal or how to cancel.Version: 3.6.0
✓ Not as good as it wasI have been using the qeepsake app for 2 years, I really loved it and I was excited to order yearly photobooks for my girls. But the last few months the app keeps shutting down on me in the middle of writing my posts so I have to reopen the app and start all over again multiple times per post until it works. It takes me so long to update the books when it should only take a few minutes. Also with their recent updates I can’t make collages anymore with other apps there’s ways around it but it’s just more steps for my already busy life..Version: 3.0.0
✓ So soEnjoy the app and ease of inputting info and pictures. I find a lot of the maternity questions redundant. Also frequent questions about partner that are not inclusive..Version: 1.11.8
✓ Book is SO expensiveUPDATE: I received my book. I’m glad to have all of her memories in one place, however the book is so cheap and flimsy. Especially when I have paid $115. It is flimsier than most paperback books, and I don’t think it will probably last very long with us looking through and reading the memories. :( I love that I can type memories/journal entries in Qeepsake at any time. I’ve enjoyed the questions and the app works pretty well. BUT I just went to place an order for the book (I’ve been doing a couple entries per week for my daughters first year) and the book is $170 for hardcover and $94 for a softcover. That is CRAZY! Almost $100 for a softcover book that I can’t even really customize? For example, there are some pages with just one question/response and no picture, and it takes up the entire page because they enlarged the text to a huge font. I would much rather have that small response show up on another page. On top of the crazy price, they charge $15 for shipping. $15 to ship a softcover book? I put so much energy into writing responses all year for my daughter’s first year, and I feel so disappointed that the book is going to cost so much..Version: 1.9.0
✓ Repetitive, US Focused and Odd TimingI thought this would be the greatest thing ever and the easiest way to document things those store bought baby books don’t ask. However the questions repeat themselves and are often not age appropriate. Holiday options are only for the US. Took a long time for the questions in the app to react to the pandemic but now the questions are asking me about things my baby did or liked pre-pandemic even though baby was born during the pandemic and has never known anything else. I regret purchasing the subscription and doubt I’ll buy the book..Version: 2.4.1
