✓ Too many frills.I don’t know quite what I was expecting, but this wasn’t it. Doing tasks and learning spells etc is fun when you’re in the lesson, and hopefully it will progress further but it’s very closed off and other than the predetermined story there’s nothing to do. You have to spend energy to do anything, and that takes a long time to regenerate enough to be useful. It’s also slow in general, there are a lot of superfluous title screens and wait screens where characters stare bizarrely at each other for too long. Plus, if you want to upgrade your clothes the prices are excessively high for some pretty mundane looking clothes and accessories. Things need to be a touch more attainable. Jumping between lectures and demonstrations shouldn’t need a title screen to explain what the character explains a minute later. Cut out some of the frills. It’s a good starting point for the game, but it needs a little work..J-me-22Version: 1.5.4

✓ Clearly made for people to choose GryffindorI’m pretty disappointed by this game. The energy points don’t even get you through one task when you get to the higher tasks. There’s a clear storyline that slytherins are evil which means if you choose slytherin (which I did) then you feel pretty targeted through the game. The villain is in slytherin and her and Snape gang up on you which is not realistic as Snape always defends his own. There’s even dialogue from one of the gryffindor NPCs which says “you’re dueling our prefect? Cool” when it’s the slytherin prefect I’m dueling. Honestly, hugely disappointed. The only good thing is you get to make friends with characters from other houses! But I imagine if I hadn’t chosen slytherin then I would only be making friends within three of the four houses. ✓ Want to love it…but…The problem with this game is that you can’t actually play it for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Firstly you run out of energy, even if you don’t run out of energy, chances are you finish the task and then have to wait anything from 3-8 hours for the next one. You can buy energy, you can buy coins and you can buy diamonds, however I am less inclined to purchase any when you would need to buy about 100 diamonds to skip the wait time and then like 30-60 energy to complete the next task. If energy refilled a bit quicker so I only had to purchased diamonds to skip the wait time to keep playing I would be more likely to do that or if there wasn’t a wait time and I only have to buy energy, I would be more likely to do that but both? No thanks. It put me off playing years ago when I first played it and in 24 hours of playing again it’s already putting me off now. It took me a couple of minutes to complete everything I could this morning and now I have to wait over 7 hours for the next task. ✓ YikesThis game is so fun. Relaxing and keeps you coming back for more. Even if you don’t have money to spend you can still progress. However, sometimes when I watch the daily reward ads, they do not register an award, even after watching the entire 30 second ad through. Also noticed that “energy” doesn’t fill up sometimes if you leave the game running in the background of your device. Almost like the timer stops. I left the game for 40 minutes, came back and energy was still zero. Also if your “energy” isn’t on refill timer, the extra energy you can collect around Hogwarts doesn’t count towards refilling your bar. So that’s not very nice, oh and don’t bother playing Gryffindor House because you will always be in last place in “events”. Another strange occurrence is while doing tournament type events with 25 other people, a random new player will show up in the list and suddenly be in first place, pushing all the original people down or people will disappear all together only to show up hours later. Or you will be neck and neck with someone for first place and suddenly they are 1000 points a head of you which is impossible in the full marks tournament. Last thing, Hagrids storyline is designed against you. You will never have enough notebooks to “adopt” creatures. The Cruppy story was angering considering you spend over 3 hours wasting energy just to find out there isn’t a puppy left for you. That angered me. The animation, characters, customisation and the mini games are all great but if you want to actually enjoy the story and get submersed then prepare to pay!. I understand they the devs need to make money but 4 mins wait for 1 energy is a bit much. You can never get into a lesson or story as you have to wait for energy to refill constantly unless you pay with gems, even have to wait for levels to unlock.... unless you want to pay! Cmon! These kinds of games encourage obsessive gameplay since you can only complete certain events by literally playing all day. The events are cruel and near impossible without paying for energy. ✓ EnjoyableAs a mum of one I hardly have time to play but when I go back I only have 25 energy to do little actions I wish the story had different options and didn’t necessarily always get your character in trouble no matter what you pick. ✓ Wait for hours to “play” for minutesWhile the graphics are lovely, and the story isn’t terrible, there’s not much playing in this game. You need energy (where you build 1 energy per 4mins near the start of the game, and I’ve heard it only slows down as the game progresses) to “play” the game, where playing means you need to complete tasks, which means you tap a highlighted item in the room, it says how much energy you require, and so you tap the bar to spend energy. There’s no games, or skills. You gain energy through time, or buy purchasing gems (which are ridiculously expensive). Without energy the game is at standstill. Tasks that need to be completed take large amounts of energy (for a reasonably simple one it can be 25 energy) and you have limited time (such as an hour) to do the task. So basically you need to wait for your energy to be completely replaced (100mins), to click a bar for a few seconds, to learn 3 lines of story, and then you need to wait until your energy is replenished again. Or you can pay hundreds of dollars to play this game that actually has no games in it. And yeah, you just choose your house, no quiz. ✓ Not enough energyI loved the game, it’s charming and the graphics are good. Storyline is simple but fun and engaging. However it became clear to me after completing a couple of levels that I would need to buy energy & gems to continue playing at a rate that I would consider normal (15-20 minutes of game play at a time). I’ve never spent money on games, but I thought because I enjoyed it so much, I would purchase two $7.99 packs and it would last me for a few weeks - incorrect assumption on my part. It barely lasted me two tasks and was gone within about 5 minutes- what a waste and total rip off! There is no way that a player could play this game at a normal rate - you can barely spend 2 minutes with the game open before expending all of your energy. 1 task is more than your max energy level so you are forced to wait with the game open until your energy regenerates to complete the task. If you leave the game and forget to come back to it, the task restarts and you have to start the whole arduous process again. Great concept and storyline, but I don’t have $160 to drop on energy in order to get anywhere in the game. ✓ Energy is LackingI will say, for the most part this game is very well done and entertaining. I love the time limited side quests (although I suspect I won’t be doing them as much once I go back to working in an office instead of from home, unfortunately). However, the biggest pain point for me is the energy. When I started the game and I figured out that you would increase your max energy with flying classes, I was really excited. Since you start out with 25 energy, which was enough to get you through a one-hour class in one sitting, I was really looking forward to a time when I built up my max energy to 40 or so, in anticipation of being able to start doing three-hour events with only one sitting. Alas, this is not the case. Once you start increasing your max energy, the energy required to a task increases too. So now, my max energy is 38, and it takes me about 35 energy to do a one-hour task now instead of the 25ish that it did before. If the energy required increases too, then what on earth is the point in increasing your max energy at all? I get that you can go longer until your bar refills, but even that is a hindrance if you have to wait longer than you would have before to get the same amount of progress. Jam City, if you could please change the game to go back to the original energy requirements for tasks and make it actually worthwhile to build up max energy, I would be extremely grateful. ✓ Predatory Micro TransactionsDecided to play this after it popped up on the App Store, it was good till you get to a portion of the game where you either have to wait or may real money for in app purchases. The game revolves around a currency called “Energy”as a way to limit what you can do in the game. Every action(and I mean EVERY action)costs energy and depending on the action it can take anywhere from 1-6 energy depending. I played about 30 minutes in and after completing 2 classes it then asked if if I was enjoying the game to dismiss it I said yes and continued. Immediately after you are put in a room the requires you to use a large amount of energy. At one point in this event it even shows your Avatar grabbed by the throat with devils snare(suffocates whatever it touches). By that time you are usually out of energy so you either wait to gain energy naturally or by spending real money while in back ground your character gets choked out. Needless to say I’m not gonna spend money on the game so I’ll wait to see what happens if I fail then I’m uninstalling the game. Games like this should really stop doing this where they make you burn through a made up currency just to stick you in a situation that requires you to spend large amounts of it, and then have the galls to offer you a pass by spending money. ✓ Easy 5 stars until now, Not Happy!!This is the game to own if you love the world of magic and Harry Potter. The time stars can be very tedious to wait for and some times almost impossible to complete for special events with out putting money on it to skip through tough time restricted. The repetitive classes can be extremely boring just to get to the next level of quests, only a hand full of classes actually teach a new spell or piece of magic to use. MY BIGGEST issue is I cannot pass convincing a companion who has 2 more higher attributes than me and all the right answers are for that low attribute so you cannot pass. Therefore I apparently need to grind/farm over 2000 points and that’s just to reduce the point by one on the hope I can continue the quest, doesn’t really make sense, 1 point lower I could deal with just make sure all answers are right but if the game is set to defeat my every time until I grind for a month to just get closer to their score. I would say I’ll give up before then. Otherwise events, friends, special quests, animal company’s, quidditch and new spell classes can make for one extremely great Howgarts game. ✓ I’ve come across a BugHi. I normally would report this bug in game in the settings menu but I’m unable to do so as my game is stuck. I recently bought an Owl after buying some gems, and then went and started a class, got a star to finish it when time runs out and went to bed (I have to go bed super early) so the next day when I open the app it says the class is finished, but the game is also prompting me to pet and wake my owl on my shoulder, the gist of it is that I can’t do anything other than look at the completed class screen and I can’t press any buttons. It is just stuck. I don’t know how to fix it myself, I’ve tried exiting the game and starting over but the same thing happens, I also tried waiting and the dueling club came up I thought that might help save me, but alas no dice. ✓ I love the game but....I enjoy the game and I play it all the time when I’m just sitting around but I often play it in a rushing manner and have a habit of just spam tapping to use my energy, so when I run out and don’t pay attention, I accidently spend gems, WHEN I DON’T WANT TO, on energy because there’s no loading page or confirmation. Not everyone has the urge to by energy when they run out. I don’t mind the grinding, and I like to save up for clothes and whatnot considering that’s the only customisation part of the game. ✓ Here to the teamEverything else is great except duelling especially now that you guys have changed it and made it so that both opponents can attack regardless of who wins that round. This has made it very tough beating the dragons as even though my level is higher it doesn’t make much difference to the dragon and because of both opponents attacking even if i win the round the dragon attack makes it impossible to win i have used nearly all of the gold on this one single duel it’s ridiculous and on top there a timer on this event and i have used so much of the gold and gem and now if time runs out its a complete waste if it all. ✓ Please change these things in the next updateI’ve been playing this game since the beta version (I live in NZ so the game was available to us a month before everyone else). In the beta version I was hoping some things would change, like customising characters height and weight. As well as your brothers name to make it more realistic. And how you have to pay 100+ gems for glasses. When I graduated from year 1 to year 2 I was hoping my character would grow taller and I’m on year 4 now and I’m still the same height as I was when I started. And I don’t see why this isn’t possible as the professors and some of the NPC are different heights and weights. My character, who looks and is named after me, has a brother named Jacob. None of my brothers names are Jacob. I’m not wanting to create a whole family but it would be nice if I could choose my brothers name - it makes it more realistic. Also the fact you have to pay GEMS for glasses annoys me. I wear glasses but none of the glasses that are for coins look like mine..GinamaexXVersion: 1.7.3

✓ Coins, energy, and duelingSo I love this game, but there are some things that aren’t okay. First of all, you get coins as a reward for literally everything, but the only things you can spend coins on are clothes. And there aren’t nearly enough clothes to choose from, and half of the clothes are still locked or take gems. So you end up with like a trillion coins and not much to spend them on. Secondly, the energy thing is killing me, and this is particularly because recently I earned 65 energy, and it wasn’t enough to make it through a level. If something takes so much energy that you start with double of the 28 energy the meter shows, but you still can’t finish the level, something is messed up. Also there are times when I just can’t do anything because I’m out of energy, there are timers on things like having a meal with a friend and dueling, which is not how a game should be, there should not be times where you can’t play for multiple hours. Lastly, I was dueling today, and was at full health. But then I got hit with a spell that STUNNED ME FOR 4 TURNS which meant my opponent hit me with tons of spells without me being able to hit them or heal, and I died before I even got a turn. THERE SHOULD NOT BE A SPELL THAT IS UNBEATABLE IN DUELING. Also, it’s totally not fair because I hadn’t even unlocked that spell so there was no way I could do it first or anything. ✓ So much potentialThis game had so much potential. Unfortunately the entire structure is a massive fail. The energy system is a pathetic ploy to force players to pay for energy, or play in five minute bursts then waiting hours for energy to accrue. I would rather a subscription option which I would be willing to pay IF the game wasn’t solely based on tapping the glowing blue objects and had more interactive elements and options in the story line. I also think there are so many plot holes in the story and so many discrepancies from the Harry Potter series that I suspect the developers have never read the books and have maybe watched the films like once or twice. Like learning defense against the dark arts spells in charms class and bringing extra pets to Hogwarts. The magical creatures sanctuary addition feels like another ploy to rope in the fans of fantastical beasts that may have been too young or not loved the original series. ✓ Could have been an excellent gameEvery once in a while I'll redownload the game and am desperate to get back into it. The graphics and animation is awesome, I love how much you can customise your character, there's lots of events running to win prizes, the dialogue is cute and I have fun remembering the little quirks. But within ten minutes I am reminded each time of why I keep uninstalling the game. I understand the nature of time based games, and needing to wait to refill your energy etc. and I also understand how the Devs need to make money. But it's so extreme that I will play for five minutes and then not be able to do anything at all for a good couple of hours, come on and use up my energy and then disappear again. There's not enough to do to consistently play without paying for extra things. I've fallen into the trap and paid money on the game before, and it did make it far more fun, for a couple of hours and I was back to being super bored and falling out of interest with the game again. I know it's the nature of the game, but there really should be some more side mini games to do while you wait for energy to come back up. The chatting wi5h friends was a nice addition but once you've done it, sometimes you have to wait 7 bloody hours - that's not quelling my growing lack of interest in the game. ✓ Great Game, Need More Options to ChooseI’m actually more on the older side (30yrs) & I actually do enjoy this game, helps me unwind and relax. Overall the graphics are nice and storyline. However I don’t like that we have to choose to get involved in mini side quests, because every time I do I never have enough energy balls to complete them in the given 3 day time span. I also hate that there isn’t a lot of ways to earn them, just feels like you either spend $ to get the perks or you fail at competing things which is frustrating. I think instead of Diamonds & coins after I finish a class, we should be earning energy. I enjoy this game more when I’m able to keep going, I’ve had this game for a while and I feel like I’ve been stuck in year two for like 2 months. ✓ It’s okay but...You will not be able to win an event, no matter how much you live on the game and the best clothing and dorm items are only available through the events. It is the same with the special events where you get new spells too, making it impossible to proceed and win without spending money, and a lot of it too. The jewels are ridiculously priced, otherwise I would have spent real money. Just not attached to my character at all since they can never win. I’m not a loser and neither is any “avatar” that I play as. Would like to see that fixed. They put out a survey and after getting feedback just added more clothes (that I’m not interested in personally) and left everything else. ✓ Devs got too greedy with this gameI love Harry Potter and was so excited to download this game. Unfortunately, it seems like the devs only focus was to get as much money as they can out of this game. You play the game, run out of energy after a minute or so, wait over an hour to get it refilled. Tasks are timed so if they are not completed within a certain time frame, you have to start again (combined with having to wait for energy makes it very difficult if you have other commitments during the day). And then, there you have to wait - sometimes over three hours - to simply start the next task. Of course, the only way around this is to pay money. I did look at getting a bundle, but they were very expensive and would only give me a couple of extra minutes play time. I understand the concept of free to play games, and having to wait. But the wait times are too long and play times are too short. I enjoy playing games like this for around half an hour before work, but this would be impossible with this game. ✓ It’s Overrated.I played this game for a little bit over 2 weeks, and I think it’s repetitive, inaccurate and it’s just a way for the players to squander all their money on in-game purchases that aren’t even worth it. For example, the measly maximum amount of energy. They give the maximum amount of 24 energy points which can be used up so swiftly but take 4 minutes to gain 1 point. This is just a way to say that once you’ve used up all your energy, you either have to pay up to carry on, or wait a ridiculous amount of time just so that you can keep playing. Another reason why this is such a horrible game is the graphics. You can compare them to the Sims free play, which is also quite bad. The graphics and emotes that respond to the occurrence your character is just unrealistically bad. Often the ability to respond to characters in desirable ways in completely absent or locked behind pay walls. Once the dull and poorly written story begins to pick up you will find that in order to progress you will need to spend about $8 or wait maybe 30-40 minutes (later on it’s 2-3 hours). If you choose to wait instead of deleting the app right there you will continue the story (which involves tapping the screen repeatedly) only to find the current plot quickly dropped and back to the status quo. You can play it without purchasing, but it takes a phenomenal amount of time. You earn 1 health point every 4 minutes. However, it caps out at 30. When most of the tasks need at least 50 points, it can be cumbersome to do half a task and then wait for the other 20 health points to accumulate via time. When I have the resources I want to keep playing it, however you only play it for a few mins before you have to leave it again, you either run out of energy (does refresh but not very fast) or you have to wait ... hours. I entered a different name and it was sad when they had a different name on my acceptance letter after it being a childhood dream to see mine on it for so long. ✓ Hogwarts Mystery ReviewThis game needs a lot of improvements as at this point I have been completely put off playing it. I was completing a class which involves repeatedly clicking the different prompts and using energy, and in the process of doing so accidentally used half of my gems to get more energy due the message that appears when you run out (something that I did not desire to do at all and an absolute waste of the gems I had saved). There was no confirmation message making sure that this was what I wanted to do and therefore no safeguards to stop this. This doesnt vary at all between different subjects making it become dull. I’m still playing it, but it is far too dragged out and boring as a result. I do love the storyline and all the Customizations but there a few things I am still concerned about. For one I understand that most games have only two gendered options and that’s fine, but I wish I could make my character more androgynous and the clothing options for female characters are a little too feminine for my taste. Clearing the cache does not improve my games stability. ✓ Good but..Was really hopeful for this game, and while it does give a sense of accomplishment when you get something done, actually doing things takes forever. The time it takes to regenerate energy, and the time in which it takes to use it all is grossly disproportionate, and I understand the game has to make money somehow, but this system has to be adapted if you want to keep people engaged and coming back. While I guess the game is mainly based around the story, it would be nice if there were more than just a few highly basic mini game activities. At the very least, have some variation between the mini games in the classes. ✓ The game is okay but it needs improvementsThe game is okay, but somethings that could be tweaked is the recharging speed of the energy bar, the time between each quest and many more. Firstly it takes so long for the energy bar to refill, I think that there should be an item that you could purchase to speed it up or just change how fast it recharges. I reckon the recharge speed should be 1 energy per minute. Secondly once you complete a quest you have to wait a few hours to do the next one. A fix to this could be that the quest is unlocked immediately. Thirdly if you don’t want to get the bonus stars in a quest you have to wait an hour or more depending on the task you choose. I think there should be and option where you could finish the quest early if you want to. Fourthly when you start a new less for a class, for example charms, to get to the next lesson you have to revise things that are pointless. Fifthly, there are just too many types of currencies, I think that the only currencies needed are gems and coins. When you’re buying pets or whatever you’re buying you need so many types of currencies to buy different things. Sixthly, I think the Quidditch aspect of the game should be more self controlled like FIFA where you can control you’re player with an analogue stick or buttons. ✓ Money grabThe game allows barely any free story choice. Everything you do is based of off tapping symbols. The ENERGY IS MISERABLE. You spend most of your time not even playing the game because you have to wait for energy to reload. You also don’t get to fly the broom and instead you just tap buttons again. ✓ Slow paced but decentThe game was fun at the start, got you into Hogwarts after getting your equipment, and like all usual mobile games, levelled you up fast so your energy was kept topped up and you could keep playing. Then a little later on the energy becomes a big setback as there are large lessons/events you need to spend your energy on that your maximum is not enough, so you need to wait and do something else while it recharges. As long as you plan starting lessons so that you’ll have enough time to get back and complete it before the time is up you’ll have fun, the story and art are very good, and the battery usage is low compared to other apps. One thing I might suggest to the developers is that players want something to do while they have no energy, e.g little mini games to gain small amounts of coins/energy. The HP theme has a lot of leeway with what these mini games could consist of, but it’s just bad game design to force your players off your game for such long periods of time, even if you want to slow out gameplay so people don’t complete the game in under a week and then delete soon after without waiting for more upgrades. If the developers do read this, I’d urge them to check the reddit page for this game and have a look at the suggestions there, as a lot of them could make a large amount of the playerbase much more satisfied with the game. ✓ Not even worth it as a free game.As an avid HP fan, to play a new game regarding it was something I was really excited about, but it’s been a huge letdown. ✓ It’s okI recently re-downloaded the game after not playing it for a while. It is a fun game, I will say. But I only have a few problems with it. One is the amount of advertising it has in it’s own game. You have to pay for “Energy Orbs” or wait for like 2 hours. I usually don’t mind waiting, but the lessons in the game, for example, Charms class, only have a two hour limit, which means that you have two hours to finish the lesson, or you have to start over. Most of the lessons also require more Orbs than you start out with as well, which annoys me. Another problem I have is with the limits on the lessons, as I said before. They don’t give you enough time to completely refill your Orbs, making you HAVE to pay if you want to get “5 stars” on the lesson. Recently, since it’s Christmas time, I was invited to the Weasley’s for the holidays, and in order to get to the Weasley’s, you have to ask professors what their traditions are, ( Snape’s is enjoying a nice quiet snowfall on Christmas Day ) and then you have to learn spells and stuff to make gifts, and I knew it was going to take me a while, which is fine, but little did I know there was also a time limit on this one! It only gives you about two days, and if you don’t finish in those days, you just can’t go. And now I’m sad because I don’t get to see Fred and George :( I will say the game would be fun if you were willing to pay 30$ every time you wanted more Orbs to play.
